The system:
http://pastebin.com/e3q4q0MP

Basic rules still apply: Roll d20: Highest dice roll out of the first three rolls is used for the Dice Check (DC), while all three rolls are averaged to determine other internal factors, if applicable. Natural 20’s and Critical Failures (1) supersede all other rolls made.
Roll d100: d100’s are used for different factors, the most applicable of which will be listed at the call for the roll. High is always better.
Rolling for Time: When asked to roll for time, the first roll response will be used, with additional rolls used as necessary. This is the only time low rolls are desired.
NewType powers, since they are plot breaking, will be based on a point system.
For every natural 20 you roll, you'll get .5 NTP. If you roll an 11 on a d20, it will be worth .25 of a NTP. Double rolls on a D100 will also garner .25 NTP.
You can exchange 1 NTP for an automatic critical success / plot breaking idea. You can also exchange 1 NTP to reduce an opposing main character's plot armor by 1/4 or 1/2 on any actions you take against them - the amount reduced will be situational, and depend on what you're planning on doing.

-------------------------------

Current NTP Tally:

Bright Noah (Casval Rem Daikun) has 11.5 NTP!
Char Aznable has 13.5 NTP!
Amuro Ray has 3.5 NTP!

>Discuss Commando Assault Stratagems!

Bright and Ramba quickly got down to brass tacks, throwing ideas for the op at each other and seeing what they agreed upon. Jane watched the two men work, abstaining from immediate comment as the two strategists plied their trade.

"Night op is a must, catch more of them off guard," Bright stated.

"Agreed. I'd like the teams I lead to come in here," Ramba said, pointing to the forested entry point on Blade-2. "We've already spoofed the sensors in this corridor as the exit point terrain played to my strengths, and offered ideal cover for surveillance ops."

"The Slammer's could come in at the tank depot on Blade One, see about disabling or capturing those Type Sixty Two's."

"Can they disable them?"

"They're tank men. They ought too."

"Ought too doesn't mean they can, my boy."

Bright thought on that for a minute before replying, "I'll check with Lannie. Besides, the Moon Breakers are demolition, I figured you'd want the bomb squad with you to assault the interior."

"True. Maybe they could rig an explosive on the power conduits, lock the security and engineering in their departments while we raid the store."

"Unless you blow the wrong line, and knock the lights out in a civilian sector."

Ramba rolled his eyes. "The south block hasn't been built yet, the power flow should be one way."

"Should be doesn't mean that it is," Bright returned.

"Cross that bridge when we come to it. What about Char's boys? Bit risky to have them EVA all the way to the other side of the colony, and having the Falmel stationed on the south end would tip them off."

"Same if they're dropped off via Zaku. Damn," Bright said, stroking his chin in thought.

"They could assault the north block, and 'capture' the Nero," Jane offered.

The men looked to each other. "That might actually work as a diversion, if nothing else," Ramba said slowly.
>>
>>31803380

"Might make for a good exfiltration for us, if they 'kill' the crew and blast their way out of the hangar," Bright said.

"Problem is, how do you explain the majority of the crew being on the ship at three am?"

"They wouldn't be," Jane said. "The majority of our crew consists of the commandos, with just a handful of 'senior officers'. It depends on when the repairs to the ship are complete, but it's plausible the Captain and XO would be interested in investigating the repairs. If not that, Mohai's still sleeping on the ship, so 'Edward' could easily show up to consult with him on something. And the work of logistics is never done, which explains my presence."

"Maybe, maybe..." Ramba said.

Bright pulled up a bulleted list of the assault plan so far:

*Night Op
*Ramba & Moon Breakers Infiltrate RZ via Blade-2
** O1 (Remote Detonate Power couplings?)
*Hammer Slammer's infiltrate RZ tank depot on Blade-1, capture tanks for anti-personnel firepower.
** O2 (If unable to capture, disable / destroy at op start and move to elevator L1 to assist in barracks assault.)
*Char, Ramba & MB units attack simultaneously.
*Char's commando unit attacks North Block Military Bay as a distraction.
** O3 ('Capture' Nero as exfiltration for non-commando Midnight Insertion assets?)
*Ceff team plays dumb until rendezvous with Ramba or MB, then steals data with commando support.
** (If power is out, steal HDD's / Blueprints / Notes)
** O4 (Recover / Destroy Zudah if possible via Ceff or Ramba team pilots)
** O5 (Capture / Destroy EFF MS if possible via Ceff or Ramba team pilots)
*Exfiltrate via construction dock
*Pickup via Siegfried

>The above is my understanding of the player's plans from last thread's discussion, with one optional objective (O3) thrown in by me, and the 'power outage equals locked doors' due to the 100 on the Ramba knowledge roll.
> O1-O5 are Optional Objectives, and deemed doable depending on how well the op progresses while its happening, 'boots on the ground' style.

>Does that look about right? If not, tell me what to change. I do recall some players wanting Char's commando teams to assist in the main assault, and that can be done if you want to wait an additional 6 to 12 hours after Char arrives for his commando team to try and sneak their way to the south block.

Wait, weren't we supposed to hack the tank or something? Since they're remotely controlled, can they even be piloted manually?
No wait, that's a stupid question, of *course* they can be piloted manually, if comms went down, they'd be functionally useless then.

>"Cross that bridge when we come to it. What about Char's boys? Bit risky to have them EVA all the way to the other side of the colony, and having the Falmel stationed on the south end would tip them off."

>>31803823
>Sending the Hammer Slammer's in to see if the tanks can be piloted manually, and if so if the remote controlling devices can be overridden or disabled outright. Christine Ask, the Pezun technical engineer on Ceff's infiltration team, might be able to hack the tanks remotely if you task her to do so. This removes her from pre-hacking data and determining which HDD's have the best intel until it's done, however.

Okay, the supposed reasoning for Char attacking is supposed to be recovery of the Zudah, right? Maybe we should let some evidence be 'discovered' showing them about the rebelling secret society that tipped us off to a secret feddie MS production facility, and at the same time, let's have *those* guys discover the 'fact' that this went from a simple smash 'n grab retreival mission to a full-out assaumt because they tipped us off to the V-project.

Basically, we plant evidence suggesting to both groups that the other side was at fault.
(Also, I want to keep that shipping manifest, as we can show to neutral powers, that the EFF has a disturbing tendency to conduct military operations in a supposed 'civillian' location.)

>>31803970
Hmm, I thought that it was a botch, originally, because Char wasn't there to keep his men in line, but nevertheless I'll refrain down that path, if we're going to re-enact canon.
>>
>>31804127
I think that's putting too many things in play; Ramba did warn us about that last time.

And I can see why we don't want to send in the Zaku's immediately.
Doing so will force the EFF to get the Gundams online and fighting.
Otherwise, they'll be more concerned with just getting away if the enemy forces are conventional and they think they can escape without anyone actually seeing the Gundam.

I think that's the important point of this: the illusion that escape while keeping the project's true state secret. That will keep them from trying to get the pilot to the Gundam and the other suits.
>>
>>31804127
Basically I want to create as much dissent and infighting amongst the EFF as possible, if the general public were to find out that the military conducts secret projects in civillian locations, and thus makes them unknowingly targets for Zeon attack, then who knows who could be next!

I'm not saying the people will go full AEUG, but having people hindering them will only help us out.

>>31804239
Okay, then, we just 'accidently' leave some documents behind, detailing that we managed to recover some data given by a secret group of rebels hinting at the V-project, while we were looking for our 'missing' Zudah, then after the OP is over, we take the date to the neutral parties to spread around.

Seriously, leaving some papers behind in a supposed rush, isn't going to complicate things terribly.
>>
>>31804331
To clarify, I'm not suggesting we leave behind the shipping manifest, I'm suggesting we leave behind a 'report' stating that we managed to recover data from the secret group. We keep the actual data itself, and then show it off to everyone to show how scummy the EF is.

>The downside to your purposed triple-cross is that the Side 7 Liberation Front gave the shipping manifest to someone they thought was an EFF soldier from off-base, 'visiting brass', as it were. If your plan garners support, it would lead to a lot of fingers being pointed between EFF Officers and the Civs, and will probably get Captain Quinly demoted a rank at the least.

>Right now you're firming up the orders you'll give to Char, on where and how you'd like him to spend his assets. This includes the proposed assault on the Military Bay. Said assault would probably be seen by the EFF investigators as a Zeek 'Smash & Grab' to reclaim their prototype unit, except it wasn't there. As such, O3 might be a viable plan, 'they took what they could to spite us' kind of thing.
>You could ask him to have Zaku's assault the military bay to provide fire support and a high threat level for the EFF to respond to.

>And yes, if Char himself had gone in with Denim and Jean, we'd probably be watching Mobile Suit Zaku instead.
>You can request Char's personal presence in the mission as you deem fit. Right now the orders for Operation: Meteor Shower are in effect, which gives Char control over the fleet assets, but on site revisions to the plan take priority.

>>31804239
You've got the right of it. Having Zaku's show up might incite some of the pilot trainees (Read Yazan and Tennith) to sortie without orders to do so. Gundam's in the streets, mass hysteria, etc would follow.
>But I'm just here to facilitate the player's decisions as best I am able. So, you guys can do as you will.
>>
>>31804414
>No matter what you folks choose, Jane's keeping the letter and manifest you received from the S&LF. She's turned it into a digital format and will be transmitting it back to ZIRCON as soon as transmissions are viable.
>Unless you choose to leave the data behind. Which is an option, but not one Bright / Jane would do unless you vote for it to happen.
>>
>>31804420
>>31804489
Alright, since we don't want to incite the EFF into launching the Gundam, let's keep the Zaku's back for now, but on hot standby.

As for the data, leaving it behind will mean that the S7LF's one big sympathizer in the EFF gets demoted, and that's not something we want. So take it with us.

Never wanted to leave the data behind, I wanted to leave behind a rough draft of a report basically saying saying that "holy shit, these rebel guys tipped us off to a sekret operation, let's fuck it up lololol"

As Ramba gave the list his thumbs up of approval, Bright noticed Jane yawning. There was no telling how long the ZIRCON operative had been awake at this point, and Bright knew she would only deflect him if he asked. Instead, Bright said, "I think we've done everything we can do here for the moment, so why don't we wrap up?"

"You sure?" Jane said around another yawn. "No need to call it early on my account."

"The boy's right, miss. You two head on back to your jeep. Bright, you're welcome to grab your gear and come by my place for dinner, I'm sure Hamon would love to see you."

"Shouldn't that be 'Misses Grant'?" Bright said with a grin.

Ramba laughed. "Probably, but I promised to make an honest woman out of her after the war, and until then she's set to be her own woman, even undercover!"

"Sounds like Miss Hamon, alright," Bright said with a shake of his head.

"Dinner actually sounds great, Ramba," Bright said. "Let me grab my eTab from the jeep and see Jane off, and then I'll join you."

Ramba laughed again, his hand suddenly perched on Bright's shoulder as he gave it a squeeze. "Good man. I've parked out the back, so feel free to walk on through. It's been a pleasure meeting you, miss 'Ward'. Do take care of my little brother from now on, you hear?"

"I'd better, seeing as I don't know how to drive a Musai," Jane quipped.

"That's the spirit, lass," He said, before turning and walking away, waiving to them over his shoulder. "Be seeing you!"

Bright walked with Jane in a companionable silence. "Productive evening, though, for almost being shot at," Bright said as she slid into the driver's seat of his jeep.

"Yeah. Sorry. He did say to come alone, but-"

"It's fine," Bright said, cutting her off. "Just glad Mohai didn't get dragged into that."

"Gun shy?" she asked.

Bright wondered how best to describe Mohai after someone pointed a gun at him, internally settled on 'Hulk Mad', but decided super hero references from the middle ages might take too long to explain. "Something like that."

She nodded, reached over to open the glove box, and quickly sorted out which eTab was Bright's before handing it off to him. "Now remember, the UHF / ULF encryption app needs to be running to receive messages. So keep it running."

"Got it. Anything else?" Bright asked.

"Yes, what are you doing tomorrow?"

"Probably running around in plain sight so as to not look like a spy, since I blundered close to that dive bar by the construction wall. Why?"

She made to say something, but stopped, shook her head, and said, "It's nothing. If you want some company, give me a call?"

"Sure," Bright said over the sound of the jeep's engine coming to life. "Good night, Jane."

"Enjoy your dinner with The Blue Giant," she said. The jeep backed away, and then sped off into the rapidly darkening night.

Bright reentered the warehouse, nodded to one of Ramba's men who was watching some surveillance cameras on a station he had not noticed on the way in, and proceeded through the dusty stacks of crates until he could see another door on the far side.

He exited the warehouse in a small puddle of light, provided by a single bulb of the lamp above the rear door. Ramba stood leaning against a dark blue motorcycle, a white helmet with red pips dangling off the handlebars as Ral puffed idly on a thick cigar. "That woman's bad business, boy," Ramba said somberly. "I'd say she'd be the death of you, but I'd put a bullet in her before it came to that, if I could. Care to explain?"

Bright knew what Ramba meant, and thought over his answer as he leaned against the blue motorcycle's green twin. "I needed a ZIRCON agent on staff, so I could contact 'Ulysses', and hopefully provide me an in with the EFF. She did both."

"She's Kycillia's pet," Ramba growled.

"I know. I read her transfer orders."

"No. You don't 'know'," Ral spat, the cigar making its way from his mouth to his hand, painting angry red lines through the air as he gestured to Bright. "So listen, and I'll tell you. Enhanced Humanization Project: Heard of it?" When Bright shook his head no, Ramba continued, "The project that started the Flanagan Institute for NewType Psychic Research, boy. Granada's bio-tech skunkworks flagship. The aim was to make a person better, in all regards. Faster. Stronger. More able. More loyal, whether they want to be or not."

"What are you driving at?"
>>
>>31806394

"Just this - in all their efforts, there were only two successes to the EH Project: Jane County, and Cecilia Irene." Ramba clamped the cigar into his mouth again and donned his helmet. "Don't tell her anything you wouldn't want Kycilla herself to know, because any claim she'll give you about secrecy? Holds as much water as a dessart."

"Desert."

Ramba paused. "What?"

"Barren wasteland, mostly sand? It's pronounced 'Desert.' But I take your meaning," Bright said, donning his own helmet.

"She already knows, doesn't she?"

"Suspects. I tried to throw her off, claiming it was infiltration training I got from you and the old man."

"Ah, so that's what that was earlier, when I asked about the hair. I'd wondered."

"Sayla's here."

Ral choked on his cigar, his head spinning so quickly to face Bright that spent ash was sent whirling into the night. "What? Sayla's on Side Seven?" he said around a plume of smoke.

"She was sent to the Nero upon landing as part of the medical relief team. She spotted me right off," Bright said. "I'm supposed to be hanging out with her tomorrow, 'or else'."

Ramba groaned, leaning so far back in his seat that Bright was certain he was going to tip over. Instead, the older man just crossed his arms, staring out the closest window at the stars as he smoked like a chimney.

"Well, fuck," he finally said.

"That's it?"

He leaned forward again, draping himself over the handle bars this time. "That's all I've got. Both of Daikun's kids in the same place as a Federation Mobile Suit prototyping project, with Kcyillia's Bitch, the Red Comet, AND the Black-" Ramba stopped himself, mulling something over. "I think the universe is having a laugh at my expense, boy. I have no idea how to get the both of you out of this one."

"Out of this alive, you mean?" Bright asked.

"Oh, you'll get off Side Seven more or less intact, unless you want to go out on the front and chance taking a bullet. No, it's when you get back to Side Three - that's when the fun starts."

"You mean being dragged off to Kycillia?"

Ramba shook his head. "It's complicated. Just take it one step at a time, boy - get through tomorrow, and if Sayla doesn't do anything too crazy, call me. We'll see where we go from there. But for now," he said, slapping the motorcycle's gas tank, "We ride. For Glory!"

"For dinner, you mean."

"Yes! And maybe some dessert!"

Bright rolled his eyes as Ral's motorcycle roared to life, and the older man took off into the night, tail light and cigar leaving a glowing trail behind him. Bright tucked the kickstand up and cycled the starter, the green machine roaring to life easily as the V-Twin Hydrogen Special purred under him, spewing clouds of water vapor as he turned the throttle to full and chased after his old friend.

The front door to Ramba's house opened, admitting the large man and the sound of laughter as he stepped inside. Even while dancing with death, you couldn't keep a Ral down.

Unless you were his lover.

As Ramba turned to show Bright into his home, an icy cold hand dropped onto his shoulder and squeezed, cutting the man's warm laughter off like a switch. "What's this I hear about you being with a 'Pretty Blonde' tonight, dear?"

"Ah, heh, Hamon, I can explain," Ramba began.

Only to be ignored. "Because I'm pretty sure I heard Clamp say something about Blondes. Plural."
