The earth sits in the void, orbited by the moon, and despite what happens with occasion between its inhabitants, a peaceful place. Approaching it slowly, is an extravagant palace drifting through the black. It is old and ruined, once it had been beautiful.

"Hey, hey! Milk-san, what's this one called!" the child's voice echoes in the expansive throne room.

The old man and long bright pink robes makes his way slowly from his lady's side to observe the console.

"It," he coughs and wheezes as he steadies himself against the station he reads from, "It is called Earth, according to our records,"

"Earth? Really! Truly! This is Earth!" the voice in the dark exclaims with a pitched and imagined smallness and youth, "This is Earth, and I can feel it's potential from ALL the way up here!"

The old man nods. Servos whirl and click as the throne moves. Its spindly spider blades clicking it toward the observation window.

"So full of love. Lost, present, and potential. It feels so good just to bask in it's glow," she giggles as the cybernetic behemoth is hauled into the light, "I'm going to take it all!"

Its shape is reminiscent of a spider, but with no abdomen. Within the bulbous and clear thorax floats a small figure, hooked with wires and tubes as she is suspended in the blue liquid. Ruined arms and the ragged remains of legs lead into a sundered torso. Her face is smooth, but the eyelids blink and move with her expressions around an absence in either socket, she has no hair.

"Then I can feel loved again," the giggle continues from a speaker in the head of the spider machine.

The earth below sits in the void, awash in pinging radio signals, radiation, and the magnetic belt that allows life to continue amid the harsh and unforgiving reaches of space. Above, the palace craft sits unnoticed and drifts closer before falling as a star upon the northern pole.

As the palace craft falls north, we fall straight down.

Clouds give way to approaching ground and we see the nation of Japan and the city of Tokyo. Human bustling activity, crowded streets and markets. Couples walking side by side. Kids in arcades. Someone waiting for friends. Drifting from the urban centers we move into the suburbs around Tokyo, to Juuban.

Good morning.
>>
Working through the headache you rise and tend to yourself in the washroom. After getting yourself presentable you throw on your normal clothes and retrieve your Tuxedo, still in the garment bag, from your closet. Your plan had been to put this on at the chapel, and that stands. Finally leaving your room, you appreciate the current layout of your apartment.

You’d always kept things spartan and minimalistic, so clearing space was rather easy. Usako would be moving in with you after today, and things would change. You’d managed to find the place rather easily and it was well within your budget after coming back to japan. Large master suite, 2 other bedrooms, eat in kitchen, and a comfortably spacious living room. Really, it was a steal at how much they were asking for it.

Probably because it was in the rebuilt Juuban Odyssey Apartments. After the building collapse a couple of years ago very few people wanted to move in. It wasn’t like the structural integrity was bad that night...there were extra circumstances, entirely otherwordly.

No matter. Affordable luxury apartment. Impending marriage. Ignorable headache.

Life is good. You head into your kitchen and grab an apple and a slice of bread to toast. You enjoy the bustling view of the ward beyond your kitchen window and smile before turning back to appreciate the quiet place you’ll soon share with Usako and - wait.

Your best friend & best man, Motoki Furuhata, is passed out on your couch in the jeans, t-shirt, and riding jacket he was wearing last night when he helped you in from that staggeringly long night.

>Wake him up, understanding of why he passed out on your couch after hauling your drunken self up the stairs.

Indeed he did. We shall recognize and appreciate his efforts.
But I just easily picture Mamoru waking up a sleeping best friend with a glass of water when they need to be awake. He always seemed to be the blunt sort when he wasn't being mysterious+stylish.

Before you set about fixing yourself, and your guest, breakfast that guest need to be woken. Rising from the table, you head over to the counter and fill a tumbler with water before heading into the living room. Placing a hand on his shoulder, you gently shake your friend until he rouses with a start.

Eyes search about, confused at the unfamiliar ceiling until he realizes blearily where he is. His hair is messy and unkempt from sleep and his eyes are rather bloodshot. You place the tumbler into his hand.

“What the, Mamoru?” his voice is strained.

“Thanks for last night, I had fun. Aspirin is in the medicine cabinet, I’ll make us both a quick something, we’ve got a lot to take care of today,” you crack your neck before turning back to the kitchen, “I’m guessing your tux is still at your place. Do you want me to drop you off on my way to the shrine,”

Recovering his faculties and taking a sip from the glass, Motoki regards you curiously.

“The Shrine? Isn’t that where she’s getting ready with the girls today?”

“Yeah, but I’ve been tasked with taking the flower girl to pick up her dress,” you smile as you think about the proof of your and Usako’s future happiness, especially since-
>>
>>31804515

“Hmm...risk seeing her before the ceremony? You’re tempting fate, Mamoru,” he smiles ragged and still tired.

“I’ve tempted worse,” you smile as you pull a carton of eggs from the fridge, “and come out ahead,”

After a quick and serviceable breakfast, the two of you head down to your car.

“My place is on the far side of town from the shrine, you can drop me off after you pick her up,” he hides from the sun behind tinted glasses and the passengers side visor.

“You just want to see if something happens that ends in me seeing Usagi early, don’t you,”

“Honestly, I want to steer you clear of that bad luck. I’ve been rooting for the two of you for a while now. The two of you started out so confrontationally, both times,”

“Come on, Motoki,” you smile and lie, “You really buy into that Urban Myth?”

“Hey, the year that didn’t happened may of well have happened. Too many people remember the same major events,”

Let's take him with us.

“Okay,” he looks hopefully at your potential acceptance of things before you reveal your intentions, “I’m sure the rest of the girls will be happy to see you before things get hectic,”

His faces falls as he slumps back into the seat. The engine turns over smoothly and you pull the vehicle into traffic toward Rei’s Shrine. A dense aura of Motoki’s melancholy fills the cabin.

“Alright,” you sigh defeated, “I concede that it could have happened. Especially considering most of the notable changes were centered around Juuban. We attract weird happenings,”

Motoki’s mood improves. The shrine isn’t far away.

Parking, the two of you walk around the nearby pedestrian street to get to the shrine proper. You pass a young couple and their daughter, hands held out and holding on to each of her parents hands. Clipped to the back of the child’s jacket is a red balloon. This scene pulls on your memories and hopes for the future.

Continuing on a few paces, the colors of the world suddenly invert and you fall to a knee as an encompassing nausea strikes you. Motoki is at your side, steadying you from falling over. You are in that instant assaulted by the cries and shouts of warning by four distinct and far off voices. Their words die before you can understand them.

Color returns to your world. You lean against the retaining wall of the elevated shrine where you fell on the pedestrian road. It is empty save for yourself and Motoki, a clip weighted red balloon drifting slowly up from low to the ground. Strange.

“Mamoru, are you okay?” concern and worry spill from Motoki.

>”Its nothing, last night just caught up with me for a second. Lets head on up,”

Playing Eclipsed Moon Quest Prequel Movie L and watching sub Sailor Moon R.
A declare this to be a good day.

I am reminded again that Mr. Chiba is a very frank person. I can see the diplomat/negotiator thing working well for him, seemingly straightforward and blunt for what he does say, but able to conceal things very well.
>>
>>31805831

Something is wrong...something is definitely wrong. You rise with Motoki’s help, but remain braced against the retaining wall.

“Something’s wrong,” you try to clear your head and catch your bearings, “Could you head in to get her. I just need some more air, and possibly space,”

“Sure,” your friend nods as he tentatively leaves you against the wall, turning back to make sure you’ll be okay, “Are you sure you don’t want to come in?”

“Yeah, and don’t let Usako know I fell. She’d get worried and come running,” you smile.

“Can do. I’ll check in with the maid of honor and retrieve the flower girl,”

“Actually, send her down first. I think she had some questions for me about something she was setting up for Usagi later today,” lies are so effortless sometimes; you have gotten exceptionally good at it.

He nods and turns the corner up the stairs. Good, you’ll have a few minutes. The balloon had barely drifted up to shoulder height when you grab the string and inspect it. Reaching out with the abilities you’ve only recently come to understand you feel the history of events around the object. A mother buying a balloon for their child while a family walked from park to home together. You remember the family of three whom you passed. You see that happen, you see them vanish. You feel fleeting screams and see them floating. You snap back to the world as you feel a pull on your ear and you yelp.

“Mamoru Chiba, you better have a good reason for taking me away from making your future wife think for a second that she can be beautiful. I swear that woman has layers of impossible complexes,” grouses Rei Hino as she twists and pulls you down to eye level, “And please tell me you need me to cover for something that happened last night and this isn’t something else, the kind of something that requires us to make up stories around the normals,”
>>
>>31806456

“Let go of my ear, Rei,” you brush her hand off and right you back, “Sadly, nothing worth covering up happened at my bachelor party,” as far as you know, “Something just abducted a family of three right here and erased local memory of them even being here. I noticed something was wrong, I think the psychic backlash knocked me over,”

A look of anger and frustration spreads across the shrine maidens face. She composes herself and snatches the balloon string from your hands and inspects it with the focus you’ve come to recognize as her own more recently independently strengthened powers of divination. When she speaks, it is with a solemn and cold dispassion that sends a chill down your spine from the normally emotive and fiery woman.

“Haruka and Michiru keep complaining that weddings aren’t their style. I’ll ask them to look into this for today. You and Usagi are getting married, no interruptions. I don’t care if the world is ending, the two of you aren’t getting drawn into something new today,”

>Yes, Rie. (mean it) Go collect the flower girl
>Yes, Rie. (lie) Go collect the flower girl

"Its always the end of the World. You know I can't leave this alone, but I don't want this to disrupt today either," you stare at the balloon with a deep welling of anger, "Have the girls keep me in the loop, and I'll let you know if I notice anything else. Please,"

Her shoulders slump and she lets out a long sigh.

"Yeah, there's no dissuading the two of you. I'll let her know; and keep everyone in the loop," she looks at the balloon again as well, "Its strange, the trail is already ice cold from detection. I can't even tell how they were taken,"

You nod and brace against the wall. Another vision. This time, of that night long ago. Waking up in the hospital and orphan soon after. Shaking the phantoms of your past clear, you look up to see Motoki and ChibiUsa coming down the stairs.

It doesn't matter now. You give one last nod and smile to Rei and wave to the two ahead.

For now, my mission is to get our Flower Girl to her dress.

--

Motoki waves goodbye as he ascends the stairs to his building. Your time displaced daughter climbs over the seat and lands with a whoop in the front passenger side.

"Finally! I hate sitting in back," she grouses before fixing you with a smile, "I can't wait to show off my dress,"

The past few years have been kind to ChibiUsa. She's been back and from the future for a little while, and was now 11 years old. Apparently she wanted to stay in the past for a while longer, if only to help her grow stronger, which she didn't think she could manage in the now peaceful future.

"I'm sure it will be lovely," you lay a hand on top of her head and ruffle her hair.

"Dad, cut it out," she ducks down and begins fussing with her pink locks as you withdraw your hand and chuckle.

For once she's wearing her hair unbound. It's long, almost as long as her mother's was when the two of your first met. Soon you'll be a family, and you're running into things full tilt.

"So, how's school?" if Usa agrees to being legally adopted by the two of you while she's in the past, you'll be able to ask that question more often for a while.

"Good, we're doing a section in PE on Archery for the next two weeks," she drawls before turning to look out the window, "and I gave the school tour to some new transfer students today,"

"You don't sound excited,"

"I don't like archery very much," she sighs, "I want to stick with the gymnastics section,"

"So, transfer students?"

"Four of 'em," she continues to look away from you and out the window.

"That many, in the middle of the term? A bit strange," calm down.

"Yeah," she turns back to face you with a nervous hesitation, "Also, the Amazon Quartet are back,"

"You saw them? What were they up to?" Concern and worry ebb into your voice. The Quartet served Queen Nehelenia, a few years ago they freed themselves from her influence and stood with the scouts against her before they disappeared.

"Complaining about placement tests and being sent to a younger grade," she sighs, "And about how growing up sucks. They recognized me straight away, Jun started screaming and pointing at me during their introduction, it's why I got stuck giving the tour. they weren't expecting to see me there, I guess,"

Aye, though Shingo always seemed to be headed that way.

While Naru, well, she was compensating for being the victim a lot, and trying to be the one doing the saving instead of the other way around.
Admittedly, as much as fate loves fucking with Naru's life, it was either that or train to be some kind of super-assassin, and at least at one point she was too kind-hearted to get that murderous about it.

"You're joking?" you try not to smile until this morning crashes back into you.

Usa lifts her miniature Luna-P and with a flip of her hand it's a photo album. Turning a page, she waits for you to hit a red light before showing you.

It is indeed the light blue haired girl pointing to the camera in a near frenzied panic.

"Why did you-"

"She held for a while, seemed a waste not to take a picture," she giggles.

"Then again, it's too coincidental," you murmur to yourself, "Do you think they're up to something?"

She's quiet, the album dissipates before she wrings her hands around the cat themed sphere.

"They helped us save Helios before. I think they're still learning how to be people again," there is resolve in her voice; the kind Usagi gets when she believes something so fully.

Like the night you couldn't keep her out anymore, when you were tormented by visions that being together would get Usagi Tsukino killed so many years ago. When ChibiUsa first came into your lives.

"I want to trust them...because I do. Is that okay?" She looks up into your eyes seeking approval.

"Yeah, it's okay," you smile and pull to a stop in front if the dress shop.
