Previously: After crashing a Sunday service at Choice Hills Baptist church, Asher and company were attacked by military forces, driving them into several degrees of corners through the sudden assault with completely unexpected forces.

After taking a long and tired walk to their destination, Asher meets another platoon on those insane mechanical monstrosities
After destroying and crippling a couple, they get the upper hand and snuff Eshe.

After losing consciousness in a final attack, you're saved by a man of many groping fingers.
Awakening in safety, you meet... Jackie.

Finding Helia with a fatal injury, you take her out for some personal time, meeting a painter in a park by the name of Camille.

Helia is healed with the assistance of an awakened doctor by the name of Eustene. With the most pressing matters solved, Jackie took you out for training after explaining some theories of magic.

That night, an attempt at divination yields a strange vision of people that Asher has yet to meet, and a Fae is contracted.
Plans are made for arranging a disaster and Asher takes it upon himself to "recruit" a potential.

The sun rests in the Vegas sky, July 8th

Gonna go ahead and say this again since the qtg 404'd right after I posted it there, but Illusion is still listed as a Primary Spell. Guess it doesn't really matter at all, but I feel like it should be listed as something else because of the way it works. Probably as an Enchantment.
>>
>>31789341
Fixed.

>6. She must be kept at rank 3. As part of her contract she is not permitted to be lower than this.
Clarification requested. Though we probably won't vote to do it for a long time if ever, does this prevent her from being raised to rank 4 or higher?
>>
>>31789507
Poor wording on my part.
I'll fix it.
>>
>>31789507
nope, it's an at least kind of requirement
>>
>>31789535
That's what I thought, but I'm not going to assume shit with a fae contract. The first statement of the contract states that it is required that she be kept at rank 3. The second statement does not add or clarify anything, but rather reiterates part of the first statement; that she can't be lower than rank 3.

What we have are two statements saying that she can't be lower than rank 3 and one those also saying that she can't be higher than rank 3. Following the letter of the law, she shouldn't be able to go above 3.

But what Dran said >>31789525 seems to show that it was unintentional and she can go higher.
>>
>>31789636
well, he wrote it wrong
I remember last thread had clearer wording and it was an at least deal
>>
>>31789535
>>31789636
As for why I was making a big deal of this, let's say we need or want her to be above rank 3 and this was an intentional wording on her part. The second she goes above rank 3, she's free of the contract because we broke it and she wrecks our shit.

That would not be fun.

Camille's apartment is on one of the upper floors. The apartment itself is kind of ratty with rusted railings and old concrete splotched with the various stains of age. You don't know why you though that she'd be in anything better. You thought that she was doing this whole painting thing as more of a hobby...

“Sorry if it's not quite what you expected monsieur...” She blushes, embarrassed by the walk up the stairs. You can sense various undesirables peering at the two of you from beyond their doors in passing. Their judgment and jealousy washing over you like a foul odor.
When at her door, she fumbles with the lock, actually needing to hoist up the door a bit to get it to open right.

Hell, if you weren't capable of splattering a man with a thought you might just be concerned with this whole thing.

“Here we are monsieur,” She shows you inside to an untidy apartment, painting hung upon brick walls, a couple easels holding up unfinished works. Barely enough space between hobby and life essentials and a noticeable absence of a television or couch in the main room.
It's messy too. Some of the walls are splattered by paint, some also lies within the carpet, like to never come out.
You catch yourself almost frowning, but then remember: Your life wasn't much better than this. You too sat alone in an apartment for most of your days either studying myth and legend of better times in human history or fighting with your parents over the phone or going to a dead end job with no interest in your study and surrounded by people that were only ever interested in the day to day.
You picked up bad habits at some point and well...

That's all gone now, washed away by your first baptism. Maybe the two of you have something in common? You end up smirking and see that Camille's been watching your expression.
>>
“I'm sorry... I hope you do not reconsider the commission. I promise we can pick a much better spot than this. Umm, I could offer a discount too if need be.” She goes quiet for a moment, her pale cheeks blushing hard. “Ah, I'll go set up some coffee.” She hurries off, sidestepping a random mess on the floor,”Please make yourself comfortable.”
You hear her mumble from the other room,”Oh, why didn't I just suggest a cafe...”

Looking back to the door, you close it all the way and make sure that it's locked. Don't want anyone interrupting after all. You find a folding chair in front of one of the easels and set down some newspaper before sitting down.
The air reeks of paint, heavy and thick.

An eccentric. This chick is definitely an eccentric.

>>[] Let her come out with coffee, get to know her a bit.
>>
>>31789792
Set her painting on fire? What a fucking asshole. Even if we're trying to awaken her, that's true evil right there.
>>
>>31789792
[x]Look at the paintings. See if there is anything that we could use to summon for this awakening.
>>
>>31789792
We should be able to feel the coffee/water while we sit in the other room. Make it float around in the air for a little bit and then just keep sitting there like nothing's happening when she freaks out.
>>
>>31789827
Is that a vote? Because it lookd like a vote to me.
Are you voting for this?
>>
>>31789792
>[x] Set the paintings aflame.
But don't let them burn. This is for the shock and awe bit.

Use Materia Firma to make it so the flames are room temp and don't consume the paintings.
>>
>>31789893
I'm NOT voting for it.
>>
>>31789905
Actually we could surround them with fire without burning them.

>>
>>31789792
>[x] Let her come out with coffee, get to know her a bit.
Also >>31789839
Not so much because I want to summon something from the paintings, that could go rather horribly, but because they would be good for picking out things to say and some Illusions could go a long way.
>>
Okay to relay my overall idea here.
There's two routes to take.

The fun route.
Or the FUN route.

You could calmly talk to her about magic and see how she reacts, showing her a little something and maybe introducing her to a summon. Ironically Donner may be your best bet for this atm.

Or business as usual.
>>
>>31789792
>Let her come out with coffee, get to know her a bit
>>
>>31789978
Which one's the FUN route?
>>
>>31789978
Personally I want to cause as little physically damage as possible. So I'm going to vote for the boring yet effective route. Which I assume is "the fun route"
>>
>>31790022
Yeah. After seeing how Jackie handled the Doc, I want to see if we can get this done without liberal application steam.
>>
>>31790022

>>
>>31789978
>When she gets back with the coffee, don't take the cup. Just float the drink out of the cup and drink that like it's completely normal.
>>
>>31789978
>You could calmly talk to her about magic and see how she reacts, showing her a little something and maybe introducing her to a summon. Ironically Donner may be your best bet for this atm.
That sounds fun. We're going to have to get on to the gritty unpleasant part eventually, though, so let's think of something.

>Threaten her hands. She won't need them to create amazing things if she into magic, so let me help you help yourself git gud.
>Threaten the paintings.
>Bring up how s/he could have / be so much better than this life now if they git gud. Maybe bring up the stuff we thought about how our own life was crummy before the eye gouging and into magic made it not crummy.
>Blah blah da gubmint bad, fuck da gubmint
>Say hi to Donner. He's a swell dude that's bound to not eat your face during the process of git guddening. You probably don't want to not git gud, though.
>>
>>31789792
>Let her come out with coffee, get to know her a bit.
Full cult mode. Establish trust, rapport, and gain her confidence. (I want to try and get her to make an Asher thoughtform/shade. Self reinforeinforcing loyalty. Depending on if/how shadows of living people work)

As you wait you look around at the paintings, most of them are of scenery. The Eiffel Tower framed by what looks like a hotel, the Lady Liberty with skyscrapers towering over her in the background, that canvas of the flowers in the park with the presence of red poppies that she added. You notice one out of the many that seems to be covered, piquing your curiosity.
Rising up from your seat, you feel the crinkle of newspaper still stuck to the seat of your pants. With irritation, you peel it off, touching the spot after to absolute dismay.

You look at your hand, seeing a decent amount of yellow.

With a sigh, you ignore it for now, moving the cover aside to peek at the painting.

It shows a couple sitting outside a cafe, no one else around. Rain comes down throughout the dismal piece with the only warmth, coming from a candle shared between the two beneath the table's umbrella.

This piece seems to be one of the better ones and not necessarily based om anything else around here, but why is this one covered?

That sort of thing is one. Not saying that it'd be wrong to do because that's a simple way to assert more control and guilt her into staying.

It's not physical abuse and while it MAY be considered manipulative we're still giving her the option to leave and go back to doing whatever it is she wants to do.

We're probably going to want to crank up the sense of comradery amongst our minions and really drive home the us vs them mentality with regards to the government. The whole clone child soldiers makes that rather easy. Also if we manage to get good enough at Divination to show things to other people, the clone breeder woman would be a good show.

You resume your seat with increased irritation as you find a new splotch of paint from your seat. There was a reason for that newspaper dammit.

After a bit, Camille finally comes back in, tidying up some of the mess and notices the moved newspaper. With a look at your face, she seems to put two and two together. “Erm, you didn't happen to sit in something, did yo-”

“It's fine,” You say with your eye closed. If you meet her expression she'll likely know it for a lie.
“When's the coffee going to be ready?” You suppress the irritation of your voice, smiling and looking at her with the change of subject.

“Ah, it will be a little longer. I made a fresh batch. How do you take your coffee monsieur?”

“Asher.”

“Que?”

“You can call me Asher, Camille.” You take a deep breath, just smile. Nice and easy.

She takes her own seat, unperturbed by the presence of paint with her smock,”Alright then, Asher. So, um. When would you like to commission the oil for? Any sort of theme you'd like? Warm colors, cool colors, stylized, or real?”

“We can leave that for later. I'd like to know more about my painter.” You deflect the main topic. You're not here for that after all. It seems to surprise her, a little blush in her cheeks.

“Oh, mo- erm... Asher.” She shakes her head, “You don't want to know about me.”

“But I do, and I'd rather not repeat myself.” You relax in the seat, feeling the squelch of pait upon your pants. The fuck ever, you'll ditch them later.
“Tell me, how long have you been doing this? Painting in general?”

She seems to give in, relenting rather easily. Her eyes go down to the floor, “I've been doing it since collège, I transferred to the states for my freshman your in Lycèe, High School.”
>>
“So you're a transfer?”

She nods, smiling kind of halfheartedly.”I should go check on the coffee.” She gets up and leaves the room again.

Oh. Wow. Somehow I missed that sentence entirely and I wasn't even skimming. Looks like things are going better than I thought.

You sit in your chair, considering her position. A painting of a couple that she keeps covered. A transfer in high school from France, but she lives alone in a sketchy apartment surrounded by art. Constantly tries to improve even still-lifes with things that shouldn't be there.

She's lonely and there's an underlying reason that she's alone. She's looking for something to fulfill her and dives headfirst into her art. That seems like a very likely But what's the reason? Bah. No matter.
She's definitely someone that could have her life improved through magic, or at least feel as such.

She's a perfect candidate to appease Lucifer's request.

“I like my coffee a bit burnt, so don't worry too much about it.” You call into the other room.

You hear her confirmation with an “Uh, huh.”

The hum of the A/C occupies your thoughts. At the very least this place is cooler than the damnable desert. Walking through that shit was a fucking nightmare.

“Cream or sugar?”

“Just enough to change the color.”

She comes back in and you thank her as she hands you your cup, sipping at it gratefully. It's hot, but that's alright with the coolness of the room.

“Ma grand-mère used to say, a hot drink will cool you better in warm weather.” She looks down at her own drink sadly.

“Do you not speak with her anymore?”

She takes a sip of her coffee in lieu of answering, “Not for a long time.” Shaking her head you can see the burgeonings of distress written upon her face, “I'm sorry Asher. May we keep this more professionnel?

“You may ask me questions too.” You offer, keeping your eye on her as you take another sip.

“It's not that, just-”
>>
“Or maybe you'd like a way out of this lifestyle?” This piques her interest, the faint glimmering of hope in her expression. In the next moment though, there's a bit of distrust.

“What do you mean? I- I enjoy my life. I wo-”

“-Don't give me that.” You rest your coffee upon your lap, minding the hot underneath. You stare her right in the eye,”I apologize, but seeing the state that you're in, it reminds me a lot of myself. About what I was, who I was.”

She doesn't say anything now, she just listens now. Her look is still a bit skeptical, but you have her ear.

“Why would a transfer from abroad still be in the states, living alone? You don't look like you're still in high school.” She bows her head to confirm your accusation, but she doesn't answer the question.
“Living in a ratty apartment surrounded by her works. Her works of love.” She seem to want to say something, yet doesn't. Her lips tremble, water gathering in her eyes.
“Camille.” You get up, setting the coffee on the floor and walking over to her, kneeling down beside her as you lay a comforting hand upon her shoulder, looking up into her eyes even as she looks away, the tears streaming down her face.
“Camille, look at me. Please look.” You bid her, and touch her cheek turning her to look at you. You can sense how she wants to push away, to deny everything.
“It's okay. I'm willing to help you. Your art, it speaks to me. There's thing missing in everything real. A piece of color that needs to be added. Another something to complete the puzzle. You're missing something, right?”

She sniffs, more tears coming down, making her blue eyes sparkle, her whites framing them with tepid red.

“I can give you something to fix this.” You brush away some of the tears with the back of your hand, tracing along her face.
>>
She brings a hand up to hold yours, trembling for a moment at the contact until she pulls away. She stands suddenly and briskly moves away, putting some distance between you and her.
“Asher,” Her voice quivers with every breath. “I don't need your pity. You can see yourself out.”

“Camille...” You say her name as you kneel, your previous concerned expression melting some to reveal your sudden distaste. You need to save this. You're so close.

You sigh and rise, closing your eye for a moment as you envision flames billowing throughout the room. Touching everything yet burning nothing. You tap into your power and open up your eye, bringing the heatless flame into existence.
An ephemeral flame forms, rolling the light of fire through the shanty apartment. Camille nearly falls over as she takes a step back. She takes a deep breath as though to scream, yet it comes out as a breath.
“What. What is going on?” She speaks with some wonder in her voice. As you walk up from behind her, laying a hand upon her shoulder.

“Nora, you may show yourself. But she is a friend.” You command seemingly to no one at first, earning you a curious sidelong look from Camille.

Sprouting from your hand though, with the steady pulse of your nerve's burn, a black ethereal flower that forms itself into your little fae. Stepping off from your hand, she flits her wings around and hovers before Camille as she goes cross-eyed looking at the little figure before her.
With a bow,”Hello there my sweet Camille, I am your fairy godmother!”

“R-really?” Camille honestly looks to be at the end of her wits and looking for hope now in this tiny being before here.

“No.” Nora gives Camille a sardonic smile with her needle-like teeth as she flits away, doing a little aerial cartwheel.

Camille looks a bit hurt, yet doesn't know what to think of this.

You place your hands upon her shoulders, helping her sit down on her knees, as she stares at the fire and the fae in wonder.“Do you believe in magic?”

You feel the words caught in her throat as Nora's disembodied cackle rings out through the air.
>>
“Believe. Because it's real. It's saved me from your situation, and given me a new life. It's hard, and it hurts sometimes but. It's absolutely worth it. No longer bound by the old rules of the world.
Look at your works. This is a fire without heat.”

You lean a hand around her and conjure up a plume of heatless flame. “Go on, touch it.”

With a shaky hand, she trusts you, believes in you. Her hand passes into the flame before she yanks it back out, looking at it in disbelief. “How?”

You let her say the words by herself,”How do you do this? How...”

“Camille.” You bring yourself by her ear,”Would you like me to show you?”

“Yes...”

“It will be painful.” You warn.

“Yes.”

“There's no going back after this.” She's in too deep already anyway.

“Yes!” She screams, her whole body quivering against yours, shaking breaths.

(Sounds almost like you two are fornicating.) Nora grins unabashedly as she hovers before Camille, giggling absurdly as she looks over the woman's face.

I think that this is the best option for manipulating her into staying with us afterwards. Really drives home that dependence feeling.

Then, once she's begged a little more
>[x] She's agreed. Give her some pain.
With the same old "you gotta save yourself" thing.

>>31793782
Not him, but we could turn it into a "Bring something you've imagined to life or I fuck up your hands and leave you worse off than before" type deal. Dunno if that would work better or worse than going for the burning or letting Nora inflict pain, though.
>>
>>31793782

Have the flames encircled her body and slowly heat. Tell her the fire will consume her if she doesn't awaken
>>
>>31793686
>[] Press the questions from earlier. You'll use tact this time.

Ask her about the painting she covered, what it means to her and why she hides it away. We aren't exactly pressed for time, and the better we understand her the easier this will go.
>>
All of her art will be destroyed if she doesnt create a beautiful work to impress us. When she reaches for her art supplies burn them. She will be forced to use magic. Every few minutes burn one of her paintings, threaten to burn the pne that was covered when she seems closest to awakening.
>>
>>31793833
Oh. I like that one. Slowly, one step at a time, back away. Like super slow. And count down. And every time she tries to grab us, knock her away with a blast of air or a puff of fire or something.

It has the human metronome thing that Jackie did, it puts Asher as the most important thing, her last hope, and it makes her hurt herself and force through the pain to awaken.

>>
You let go and stand up, surveying the room, getting a lock on all of the paintings within. This is going to hurt, but you'll need to tough it out.
Ignoring the fae, you give Camille a firm command,”Then stop me from leaving.”

You take a step back and have the flames slowly ignite one of her paintings as you point,”Look.”
You see her stare for a moment before she gets up screaming, “No! Nonono!” She runs over to put the fire out yet your focus keeps the flames persistent. With a wave of your finger, you have a gout of the heatless blow past her.

“One by one your works will burn. You must stop me from leaving or you won't have anything left.” You take another slow step back.

She begs, and cries, pleads for you not to go as the flame consumes the first work. She makes a reach for you, and you snake around a hot flame to bite at her wrist. “That's not going to stop me Camille. I can't stop that easily for you.”

You snap your fingers and another painting goes up in very real flames, the burn afflicting you still light at this point. She cries,”What will make you stop. How can I stop you?”

“Create a work so beautiful it makes me cry.” You say, removing your heart from your voice.

“But I don't have the time! It takes time! And I'm the only one that's ever cried for my works!” She falls to the floor, staring hopelessly as her next painting burns. Hours put in only for it to go up in flame.

Nora dances upon the air, cackling with a mark amount of malevolence,” You must use magic Camille! Only magic can move us! Only magic will change your life!”

“But how?!” She screams, new tears streaming down her face, a hand nursing the new burn upon her wrist.

You say nothing else, and take another step back. Another snap of your fingers. “It will all go up in flames. You'll have nothing to show for it either. Make me stop Camille.”
>>
She runs over to the newest painting, attempting to put it out again, grabbing the sheet from the covered one, tearing it away to save this other painting.

You snap your fingers and set the sheet aflame, burning through the linens,”Why was that one covered Camille?”

“Because it makes me cry, because it makes me sad!” She tried to grab at the fragments of the sheet, in vain.

“Why? What significance is it of to you?”

“I...” She ceases her efforts, looking to the painting of the couple in a downpour.

You take another step, that one is next, you hold out your hand for another snap. She charges you this time, blown back by a blast of wind from your other hand. The burn's starting to hurt from that one...

She falls to the floor as you hide your pain, fingers still raised and ready. “Why does it make you cry Camille?”

She doesn't respond, her arms wrapped around her stomach to hold herself together. She rocks back and forth, comforting herself.

“Why does it make you sad Camille?! Answer or it burns!” You yell, emotion returning to your voice.

“Because I'm lonely!” She breaks down into tears, the gates finally opening, “Because no one will love me for who I am! Because I paint and I can't even afford a car! Because I live in a dump like this. Because my parents didn't even want me to come home!”

“Why?” You keep your hand steady, ready to ignite at any given moment.

“Because I'm not their son anymore!” She hides her face, crying into her hands.

Everything's out now. That was her secret. You're taken aback by the revelation. Everything up until now... It's starting to make sense. You relax, lowering your fingers. You sympathize with her to an extent but. Bringing the ignition back up, “Nothing has changed, it still burns.” She gasps.
>>
As you prepare to ignite the one most meaningful, she gets up, running at you with all her might. You're about to blast her away when you see a shimmer about her. You lower your hand and she grabs you by the hoodie, her dainty hands gripping you as firmly as possible,”Please... Please don't.”
She looks you in the eye, her own blues glistening with with pink deep within her pupils.

>>
>>31795607

>>
>>31795607
>I'm pretty sure our summons are already physical when we summon them.
They aren't. There's a big difference between actually being physical and just being able to interact with the physical world. Our summons are the latter.
>i'm also pretty sure the fairies Nora may summon won't drain us.
I know they won't. I said they won't in the post you replied to.
>>
>>31795621
She can get her own god to help her. She's supposedly going to be a summoner, so they should be lining up to become her divine sugardaddies.
>>
>Though I am retro-acting her power color to be gray.

>>
>>31795625
If we did find a way to convert mana to solid matter, making them 100% physical beings of our plane, what would happen? Would they even count as a contract anymore, if they aren't a spirit? If they do count as a contract still, even as a newly completely physical animal, does that mean when can contract with flesh and blood people. Could we contract with other Overhumans? Doesn't seem like a magic Wendfigo and a Magic Human are all that different after all, if they coinhabit the same realm.

If a summon becomes fully realized in our plane, what separates it from us?

>>

>>
>>31795747
>If we did find a way to convert mana to solid matter
Alchemy has been confirmed able to do it once you hit Adept or higher.
>what would happen?
No idea. Dran's answers have all more or less amounted to "try it and see". We have no idea what happens to contracts if we make whole summons real.

Parts of summons, however, look to be a really solid option. If we were to take, for example, the Eye of Balor and summon that and make it physical, we could implant it into Asher and use the enchantment it has as if it were our own magic. Thoughtform might be better than mythos for this, though, since Dran also confirmed that stealing bodyparts from powerful mythical beings might result in them trying to reclaim them,

Nora flits over and takes a seat upon Camille's shoulder,”You look very pretty you know. I couldn't even tell you weren't born this way.”
As odd as you find Nora's kind words, you still feel Camille's body tremble against yours, gripping at your back as she shakes in fear. Unable to look or even speak after coming out with the truth.

“There's no need for any more of it to burn Camille. You have everything now. “ Letting her go, you turn around and gesture towards the painting that finally broke her. “It's in your now. Just will it to be. You could even make your art come to life if you wanted.”
Letting her walk off to have a go at her power, you take a hard look at her rear, trying to reason out why you hadn't noticed before. Is it the smock? Was it the face? The lips? Hell, how long has she been doing treatment, pre-op, post-op?
Nora flits from Camille's shoulder and stands upin your own, leaning over to whisper in your ear,”She's got the goods.” You bring your palm to her face.

“I did not need to know that.” You whisper harshly to the fae.

She giggles, her malevolent grin dappled with playfulness,”I know.” She backs off, “Her despair was so sweet Asher. Is this how you treat all the girls?”

You don't answer that,”Don't you have somewhere to be?”

“Ah, well I should check up on my little sisters.” She cackles as she flies towards the window,”Tell me if you do anything fun!” Like a shadow, she slips out as quickly as she came.

You feel a painful burn as she departs, your pact forcing you to top her off with more power. Not nearly as bad as before, but still enough to notice.
>>
>>31795824
Blowing up the damn is biblical tier shit, you better believe that bitch is going to owe us more than one favor if we go through with it.
>>
Camille touches her painting, a gray glow lifting up from her fingers. She shakes her head, frustrated yet amazed at the flow of power.
You step up from behind her and clasp a hand upon her shoulder,”Look, the first step is to visualize, then you...”

It takes some time for her to get it down, but eventually the paint moves and forms its own bodies in three dimensions. She's impressed and amazed by the effort, quickly forgetting what you put her through to make this happen.
She brought the couple in the painting to life, as two figures holding their hands. Their strokes and forms almost exactly the same as they were previously. When she lets the power go, they return themselves to their home. Even tired and drained, she's absolutely amazed by the power.
You share your own story with her of when you awakened, explaining how you lost your eye. You retell the feeling of hopelessness as the crow man dug his nail into your eyesocket, popping it like a ripe grape, the way the light came down from above when they praised Susej.

You eventually get around to telling her about the followers themselves and the paths. She seems to want to question why you joined them, but keeps it to herself, listening intently as you explain the whole thing behind the government and what they do to people like you and her.

Eventually though, you realize that there's nothing more tell. Here is where you should offer her the three choices...

>[] Offer the choices.
>[] Tell her to come with you.
>>
>>31795889
>[x] Offer the choices.
>>
>>31795889
>[] Offer the choices.
She'll come with us for sure anyways, fuck it.
What would Eshe think if we didn't give her the choice?
>>
>>31795889
[x]Combo
Tell her -about- the choices as the basis of the Followers thing, but tell her to come with you anyway.

Cover all our bases and ensure she doesn't feel like we're dropping her now that she's got magic.
>>
>>31795889
Ask her if she wants to come, knowing about what's going on.
Give her a choice, but don't use the Followers framework.
Hell, not like Jackie even follows that, sure as hell wasn't going to let Eustene pick.
>>
>>31795889
>[x] Offer the choices.
This is a way harder choice than it should be...

Is there any way could be like
"The choices are to blah blah blah, but I think that walking me would be the best course to realize your potential." or something to that effect?
>>
>>31795991
>>31795889
I'll second trying something like
>"The choices are to blah blah blah, but I think that walking me would be the best course to realize your potential." or something to that effect?
>>
>>31795946
A choice of character.

Damn the followers and begin your motions to break away.
or
Follow, because they're people that you can trust(or to that effect.)
>>
>>31795889
Hey Dran, i was thinking of paying one of my art friends to draw something from this quest, what would you like to see? I was thinking some kind of baroque esque picture with Susej in it, descending from the heavens or some shit, but that might be a little beyond my friends abilities.

If I do go for that, what does Susej look like? Black Jesus?
>>
>>31796020
Oh, well that makes the choice much easier.
>[] Tell her to come with you.
>>
>>31796022

Susej wears a mask. very simle in nature and carved of wood with slits for the eyes.
A white robe with a hood, that comes over the back of the mask and gloves.

The most identifying feature about him is that he radiates light and his color is sunlight gold.
He's a vein and when he uses his power he has a halo of light behind him.

I can't wait for his return.

He's absurdly powerful.

But it's a point that he has no discernibly human figures. Hell, it'd be best to just have a mask and robes with light pouring our from within.
>>
>>31796020
>Damn the followers and begin your motions to break away.
I kinda want to start to do that since we all know the eventual break is going to have to happen and letting it solidify too long is just going to cause problems.

I dunno. It's a "you want problems now or problems later?" type deal. Break now, and we get to deal with mad Jackie and mad other Followers. Don't start the break until later and our minions are all entrenched in Follower living. Never break at all and Lucifer gets mad at us.
>>
So I'm seeing: Hybrid. Offer the choices but tell her to come with you.

>>31796143
For the record, the Followers would be more pissed off if you acted against them rather than go off and do your own thing that's even marginally consistent with their SOP.

>>31796022
Following up, you're paying for it though. Get what you want.

Did you have any other scenes in mind?
>>
>>31796176
>For the record, the Followers would be more pissed off if you acted against them rather than go off and do your own thing that's even marginally consistent with their SOP.
Oh. Well, we're not really planning to act against them. We'd be doing mostly the same thing; spreading knowledge and fuckin da gubmint, it would just be focused a tad more on Asher's personal power.
>>
>>31796176
I'm a sucker for religious imagery, so I was also thinking about having Asherah and her realm drawn.
>>
>>31796093
That sounds awesome as fuq, 10/10, would worship.
>>
>>31796176
So they wouldn't really care too much if we were to be all "Hey you guys are real cool and all and I'm grateful for what you done for me, but Ima go do my own thing. I ain't got no plans to interfere with Follower operations and I still gonna be spread that truth, but just branchin out on my own. We good?" or something? Or would they just zap us for being a shit?
>>
Wow. This is one of the beautiful and caring things I've ever seen in a quest. And I've played A LOT of fucking quests.
>>
>>31796292
Some may be less kind about it.

But they're fighting wars on multiple fronts.

>>31796303
Hm? Which part?
>>
>>31796318
Gee. I wonder.
>>
I kinda want to level up Aerokinesis since it's part of our main attacking spell and at Novice it really isn't very good for burn costs.
And we need it at Apprentice+ for Alchemy to unlock anyway.
>>
>>31796318
I assume awakening, accepting and comforting a man/girl/thing who is depressed about his/her/whatever situation and identity.
>>
>>31796143
I'm not against this in the future, but honestly what would we even do if we left the Followers at this point?

Asher doesn't have much in the way of long term goals and it's been a while since we had choices that would change plot focus.
>>
>>31796143
>Never break at all and Lucifer gets mad at us.
I'm pretty sue Lucifer doesn't give half a shit as long as we hang out and awaken people.
>>
>>31796396
>honestly what would we even do if we left the Followers at this point?
Go around amassing followers of his own for the cult of Asher and fuckin up the gubmint?
>>
>>31796176
>So I'm seeing: Hybrid. Offer the choices but tell her to come with you.
Is this going to count for Lucifer's optional objective?
>[] Convince someone to seek power and enlightenment(Not necessarily the followers.)-Lucifer

That's pretty sweet. Also to the people in the general last night who wanted to know if we could summon demons/monsters/people from video games and books, I'm pretty sure we can since the description of mythos summoning ranges from fairytale, to faith, to myth, fiction.

So I see no reason why we can't.

You offer her the choices, telling her about them each in detail. The path of blood and how it basically involves kindling the flames of war against the Followers, the path of peace and how it's waiting for war to find you, and the third: Enlightenment, in which she'd join the followers and fight for the cause.

“You're free to choose whichever one you want. Even blood. I'll walk out of here and you'll be unmolested.” You speak to her with great urgency, though finally relax for this last word. “Though I'd really like you to come with me.”

That last thing seems to make her lose her doubts. “Okay then...”

She chooses you and the followers.

---

It takes some time to get her to commit to leaving everything. Especially where you tell her that she'll need to leave it.
The two of you get in her car and you give her directions from Jackie.

“You know, I thought it was weird when you said that you couldn't afford one.”

She gives a bittersweet smile,”I'm late on a payment, it's why I was so interested in the commission...”

“Well,” you reach into your pants pocket and pull out your wallet loaded with twenties. You lay a bunch below the radio without counting,”That should hold you over. Though it may not be necessary...”

“Oh, Asher I... I can't accept this.”

“It's the least I could do for putting you through a personal hell.” Likely literally...
“Though if you work with us, it may no longer be necessary.”

“Pardon?”
>>
“I'm here on a mission. The people that have been getting taken. I'm to pose as one to find out where they're going. We're going to save people.” You look over to her as she arrives at a stoplight.
“You in?”

“I already made my choice, didn't I?” She smiles, some happiness returning to her face in spite of the tear-stains. You know, as a matter of fact, even though you learned her secret, she's still a looker.

When you get to Jackie's house you enter first after telling Camille that you'll keep her secret. In any case, you know that it'll be a fight to get Jackie to not try to blow her brains out.
A lot of reassurance, and a personal inspection from the Valleygirl you hear her give an amused little snort as she barely constrains laughter. The only other one out here, she leans by you,”Like, oh my gawd Asher. You know she's like, totally a he, right?”

“Uh huh.” You nod in bored confirmation, though you're getting concerned with your own inability to tell. How the hell do they all know?

“Alright, like whatever floats your boat fuck-stick. You want a tranny on board? Fuck it. You gave her the spiel, yah?”

“Uh huh. Could we also -not- tell Hot Rod?”

“Oh, so it's a secret?”

“Uh huh.”

“Kay, whatevs, get her to follow my car out to the desert. We've got some more shit to go over, and you to go plowing through.” Jackie walks back inside the house laughing as you can't help but turn effective shades of red yourself. She stops short,”Hey, where's Helia?”

Oh fucking shit you forgot about Helia. “Get ready, wait here, we'll be right back!”

You throw open the door, and hop in the passenger side, “We need to go back to the park.”

“What was that about?”

“Just drive, please.” You place your head in your hands, fucking hell she's going to be so pissed...

>>31796911
Why would I do that?
>>
>>31796911
It's not about how a person would really react, it's about making the mc forget something like this out of nowhere and then punishing the players for it.

If this was a quest where the mc was their own separate entity that just took suggestions from the players, it would be a different story. But it's not.
>>
>>31796922
so you don't say stupid shit like that

Except we don't.
>>

The players only dictate the actions when there is a prompt.

There was no prompt for what to do when we leave, the final prompt was for conversation with Camille. And then Dran had us go all the way back to Jackie's house immediately.
>>
>>31796991
at prompts we have complete control

Picking up Helia was less painful than you thought. She got into the car without another word, and Camille kept looking back, really rather not asking why she was at the park for as much as it's written on her face.
Helia just stares out the window...

“Okay, so she's deaf. Right now, her ears are busted. We can talk. She was with me because I asked her to come, but I wanted to approach you alone.”

“Uh huh.”

“And it's complicated between us. She's got a real thing for me but I just don't really know what to do about it. She loves me and I'm bad for her, she said it herself.”

“Uh huh.”

You stop trying to justify or divert anything after rambling on for a bit longer, finally shutting up. The three of you get back to Jackie's and follow her car out to another spot rather off road and into the desert.

As the three of you get out of the car, effectively in the middle of nowhere now, you lean over to Camille “So, uh. I thought I should warn you about our valley girl. She's the one in charge of the operation. I'd recommend strongly that you humor her. She's not the nicest person.” You almost feel like a hypocrite saying that last part...

Helia finally takes you by the arm and pulls you away from Camille, giving you a kiss upon your cheek while staring at the trans with a claiming smile.

Camille seems to be stricken and looks away, frowning and biting at her own lip.

The sound of a gunshot gets the attention of you two. Jackie stands ahead, a finger raised into the air with a thumb cocked, “Alright like, you lovebirds, time to pay fucking attention!”

Hot Rod stands up front and at the ready along with Eustene. Noatak stands just behind Jackie, and now you, Helia, and Camille fall in beside the other two.
>>
Jackie goes over her explanation of the multiple layers of the other world, texting furiously to Helia as she talks before throwing the phone at you to make you take care of it. You can barely keep up.

From there, Jackie moves on to the basics of the different types of what she calls, “Overs”

Most of it you already know. How the three interact, what has advantage over what, and a rule of thumb that the advantages are -not- set in stone.

Moving on from there, she talks about various categories of magic:

“For bones there is morph, modify, and reinforce as the basic types of magic. Morphs change their actual body, modify alter how their body reacts to the world, and reinforce take what's already there and enhance it.

Morph can change their hand into a claw, wing, or even replacing lost and damaged flesh. Some can go the extra step and make it inorganic; like water or stone.
Modify can enable Bone Overs to walk on water or even air, weigh a metric ton, become fireproof, and so on.
Reinforce is kind of like morphing expect more basic. It involves increasing resistance to pain, possibly making skin bulletproof, increasing natural healing, and senses.”

She pauses to take a drink of water under the desert heat.

“Nerve's basic magics are Meta, Elementary, and Enchantment. This gets a bit more complicated and happens to be what I know most about.

Meta magic is magic that elusively alters and interacts with the flow of mana. Where bones drain it, Nerves create and manipulate it. This is involved in the creation of wards to block living beings, create barriers against magic, and even manipulate and creatures of pure mana.

Elementary spells focus on the manipulation or creation of very real things that do exist. This ranges from generating a twister, igniting something into flames, or doing something like create a black hole, though I've yet to see that done.”

“We'd all be dead if anyone did that.” You comment.
>>
>>31797308
>“We'd all be dead if anyone did that.” You comment.
Heh, gravitation/space were on my early list of domains.
>>
>>31797308
>Meta, Elementary, and Enchantment.
Huh. So I guess things in the paste would be like

>-Summoning-(Meta-Primary Spell) [Apprentice]
>-Pyromancy(Elementary-Advanced Primary) [Apprentice]
>-Hydrokinesis-(Primary Spell) {Natural} [Apprentice]
>Aquatic Perception- (Elementary-Hydrokinesis Subability) {Natural Passive} [Apprentice]
>Steam-(Elementary-Hydrokinesis Subspell)[Novice]
>Ice-(Elementary-Hydrokinesis Subspell)[Novice+Oath]
>-Aerokinesis-(Elementary-Primary Spell) [Novice]

etc

Or maybe just replace all the "Primary Spell"s with Elementary/Meta?
>>
>>31797474
Aye.
>>
Jackie throws her head back, laughing wholeheartedly until the point where you and a couple of your peers try to join in, -shut up.” She raises a finger and thunders her spell past you, the sonicboom ringing in your ear.

“Fucking christ!” You cover and nurse your poor eardrum as Jack blows at her finger like a smoking gun.

“Last is enchantment which I'm fond of. Like a modify, it alters properties, only it affects what's around the Nerve Over instead of themselves. I personally enjoy the use of a velocity enchantment to increase or reduce speed many-fold.” She gives you another point, her finger-tip still shining powder-white.

You just about want to jump out of your skin. You can't imagine getting it by it.
“And that's what I just used to make Asher piss himself.”

She's lying, but that doesn't make you feel any better.

“Lastly are Veins! They can use modify, reinforce, elementary, and meta. Though they're based entirely around their soul and whether they own something. If a Vein's soul exists within something it's like an extension of their own body with their power flowing through it. They can apply an modify-based enchant to their entire “body” if they choose to.” She looks over to Noatak,”Though some are better called curses. Like Noatak, enemy of cell-phones.”

The big injun grunts at that, “Jackie, can I get a word?”

“Go for it,” She walks off, sucking down water, handing him the floor as she gets another bottle from her car.

The red man looks over you all, stoppin on Helia,”You ready to text, Asher?” He says, his eyes shifting to you.

“Ah, dammit Yeah.”
>>
>>31797505
Asher's a bit of an elementalist, ain't he?
>>
“We veins are the strangest of Overs. Lacking power, while making up for it in spirit. Literally. We must be wary of infections from beyond or even at the hand of nerves as Jackie has said.
I would beware strong veins however. They show most what it means to have a human's spirit. I am done,” He looks over to Jackie as she comes back, throwing water at people.

“Ah huh. Alright. So onto training. Ashy, you need to learn how to block magic or some shit, Hot Rod needs to increase his morph speed and power, Helia... Well, Helia's doing fine.”

The fuck?!

“Doc, you can learn how to block magic too with Asher. Mind that your surgery spell is elementary but requires direct contact.” Jacker saunters over to Camille, still cracking up a little,”And you, what do you do... girl?”

“Ah, I can make m paintings come to life.” Camille answers halfheartedly, looking away from Jackie's oppressive stare.

“Woah, holy shit. Asher, she knows how to summon?”

“Sort of. Kinda along those lines though.”

“Well then, this'll be... Interesting.” Jackie says as she licks her teeth. Now that you think about it, you haven't seen any summons lingering around Jackie.

At the very least though, you'll be learning something new.

Question, what would the benefits of sacrificing our summons for more power summons be?
Energy/burn wise. Would it take more energy in total to summon the more powerful summon? Or would there be a benefit in summoning lesser fire/earth elementals to sacrifice into a greater lava elemental.
>>
>>31797534
Thanks for running, Dran. Is space magic ever going to be a thing? I sure people would enjoy that.
>>
>>31797534
Fun thread. Thanks for runnin.

Idea: Get a squirt gun, use Materia Firma&Hydrokinesis to +velocity as it shoots out and hits harder than a real gun. Using the squirtgun would reduce burn because reasons, just like chanting metal lyrics and shit does, and it would be less conspicuous than a real gun like Jackie uses.
>>
>>31797544
Liiiiike, is it more efficient to sacrifice/fuse than it is to do it raw? If it's even possible. (I'm guessing the sacrifices would need to be beaten into submission)
>>
>>31797588
This would actually be quite funny. I'm voting for this.
>>
>>31797619
And Jackie would be a bitch to Asher about it and laugh at him, so it would give Dran some easy and entertaining lines to write!
>>
>>31797531
Yeah, Asher's been pretty strong in Elemental.

Illusion's actually kinda weird as an enchantment. I'll be relabeling it to Meta.

It basically goes:

Elementary affects and alters real things in reality.
Enchantment alters the properties of such things, making rocks float on water, or fire that's substantial.
Meta affects things on the other side and more related to mana beings and the like.

Summoning for instance, is also a meta spell.

>>31797563
It could be, but it seems to me that the prerequisites would be odd. Likely based from umbrakinesis.

>>31797544
>>31797601
Seems obtuse when you could just summon the lava elemental rather than messing with the tributes.

In any case though, as you may have seen; most summons are more interested in what's going on for the real world.
Smashing together two to make a bigger one would be like taking to people and sticking them together.

That shit is kinda morbid.
>>
>>31797534
We should probably give Camille a heads-up that she's gonna have some gods knockin at the dream door looking to get in good because summoners are apparently something that they get a stiffy for.
>>
By the way: You guys still have 2 unspent LIMIT.

And I didn't really intend for this thread to drag out Camille so long but I felt that she deserved a proper scene.

Previous Overs will also make an appearance soon.

Also take note that Jackie's specifically stated one of her spells to be +-Velocity. If you intended to brute force the Hoover, that'd be another thing to consider.

Ice = Mineral = Geo. And I'm pretty sure you talked about getting Gravity from Earth or Moon, and Gravity is the bending of space. so Ice -> Geokinesis (or just learn it from Helia if you don't like Geology) -> Gravity -> Space (really manipulation of one is the same as the other)

A warning wouldn't be a bad thing, but She's probably pure thoughtform. Pretty Sure Asher just happened to get both.

It's too late Dranzy, baby, I am all over this Frankenstein thing. In fact, let's make a whole army of living dead.

Pretty sure Mythos and Thoughtform are both parts of Summoning at its base.

If we were to start trying to design cantrips now, would you consider them for learning later during training?

>“Ah, I can make m paintings come to life.” Camille answers halfheartedly, looking away from Jackie's oppressive stare.
>“Woah, holy shit. Asher, she knows how to summon?”
inb4 it's something lame as fuck, like Paintkinesis

If Veins can use reinforce, does that mean that Helia could learn a regen spell based on boosting up her natural healing factor?

-Pyromancy(Advanced Primary) [Apprentice]: Gifted by Lucifer, this magic incorporates flame as more than a mere combustion of matter. THis fire is far closer to magic. Allows divination for people and things that you've seen before. Automatically allows for any known enchanting to be applied. Does not require a fuel source to create fire.
Allies for properties of fire to be intermixed with other -mancies.

>Allies should be allows
>THis should be This
>Since Illusion is being labeled as Meta instead of Enchantment, you should probably add a note about being compatible with Metas/other spells or something since it works with Illusion.

People have been saying the Ice->Geo thing for a while now. If Dran was cool with that being a thing, we'd have done it by now. I think he just wants to write Asher learning it from Helia, because really, Ice->Geo is less of a stretch than Steam->Air or Water->Plants was and its's waaaaaay less of a stretch than Water->Materia Firma was or Water->Gravity would be. Or Asher just doesn't see the connection himself or something. I dunno.
