For House & Dominion: Home Front Quest

http://houseanddominion.wikia.com/wiki/HouseAndDominion_Wiki
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=House%20and%20Dominion

You are Sonia Reynard, Attack Wing Leader and Knight of the House of Jerik-Dremine! When you were on the front lines you directly command the Third Attack Wing, the newer Fifth Attack Wing lead by Daska Rna also fell under your leadership.

After 6 months deployed in Shallan space and the Pandora cluster fighting the Neeran Invasion you have returned home. Desperate to relax for a change you've been taking a month long vacation, exploring your property on Dreminth and seeing family for the first time in ages. Even your Father has returned home from his posting with House logistics marking the first time you've seen him in person for more than two years.

Last time you took your younger sister Bekka and her friends out to the property for some hiking and and endurance training. Each spent some time on your small firing range practicing with stun pistols and the group took part in a treasure hunt. While it took them two days to find all of the stand-ins for parts of a destroyed probe they were able to find them all. You think they all had a fun time though you did have to take away one of their pistols after one of Bekka's friends were goofing off with them.

The first large meeting of the 1st Expeditionary Fleet Social Club for the year was a success. The newly promoted Knights and nobles from the fleet got a chance to develop their etiquette skills yet still have fun with the following BBQ.

Your eye implants have been powered down while work is being done on their programming. An encounter with an overly paranoid hacker or assassin revealed a number of system security loopholes that will need to be corrected before you fully trust anything they show. Your old Marine Intrusion expert Duncan is working on the project for you so the fix should work as planned.

You've spent the better part of the past day touring the shipyards where House Helios builds their eponymous Medium Cruiser design. While at first it may have seemed like the yards were being under utilised due to mass production of weapons still ramping up, that's proven to be false. What was supposed to be a small moon sharing the same orbit at the main yard is actually a hollow shell. Girders, holograms and a few sections that might have once been cut out of the original moon itself now disguise a production facility within turning asteroids into mobile fortresses.

The most affluential Houses in the Dominion are contributing to the project which will be used to fill the Super Heavy cruiser gap to fight the Neeran, and to counter the Terrans after the war.

"I guess buying more stock would fall under insider trading until information about the forts has been released to the public?" you ask as the shuttle returns to the dock you first entered through.

"Not at all." The tour guide assures you. "More funding for this project is always needed. The return on such an investment however could take a considerable length of time."

"How well would one of these vessel hold up to a Veckron Torpedo hit?" Asks an Admiral.

"We don't currently know. It's hoped that the density and thickness of the rock will reduce the effectiveness of such weapons."

The last area of the shipyard to visit on the tour is one of the R&D areas.
"Here you can see the engineers working on the next generation of ships in the Helios line. The new vessels will have increased sublight mobility and, we hope, a more compact main gun. This ship has already been in development for some time."

"How long until Houses can place orders for them?"
"We hope it will be within two years. Several Houses have attempted to place pre-orders."

>Is there anything else you wish to investigate at the shipyard?

The Carrier that RSS is working on? No idea. Nikolov instituted radio silence to prevent anyone from giving away their position.

>>31782264

>can I take pictures of it?
>dear god, don't say this.

>>31782269
>Can we take a photo of Sonia next to one of these cannons?
That you can do, since they're fairly well known.
When the shuttle gets back to the main yard you hire one of the locals to take the image since they'd know what things are allowed to be photographed.

You ask the guide if Helios has much experience when it comes to defending large shipyards like this one. Apparently it's only been attacked a handful of times since it's founding. The first two attacks were the most damaging, once in the Expeditionary Wars and another by the current Ruling House in the early Faction Wars. After that the number of siege cannons held in reserve were increased and all subsequent attacks on the yard were near suicide missions.

"Defending yards like these are always a pain in the behind." states Admiral Wallace. "There are ways to slip in a few ships through the defenses even if you spend ridiculous amounts of manpower and money to fully protect them. This yard is a good balance."

>We should attend a starfighter race.
It should be possible to stop off for one on the way back to House space. Do so?

The Admiral has just come out of retirement and is currently doing high level requisitions work for the Ruling House. This is primarily because a number of groups needed convincing that the Ruling House was actually serious enough about acquiring certain equipment that they'd send a flag officer to get it.
"Convenient for me as it means I get to spend half my time on high class liners getting places. Ha!"

>Sounds like a good business contact for RSS and a good personal contact due to our actions during the Lat'tham debacle.
"Yes I overheard some of your little tirade at the check in. Good to see that some of the younger people from the smaller Houses are taking an active role in requisitions. It takes some time for people to realise just how much work goes into getting proper equipment for those on the front lines."

You ask him a bit about his career.
"Nothing tremendous. I took the long way up. Systems and operations officer, transferred to a Heavy cruiser at a good time. Knew when to report the right people and when to let things slide. That's the hard part for most people, that and timing.
I think I only actually commanded a fleet in two battles. Those were both cases of letting a temporary ally take the brunt of the damage, and knowing which of my subordinates were skilled enough to handle the situations I finally committed them to. I transferred to logistics command for ten years after that and retired."

The return flight to House Jerik-Dremine space is uneventful. Lorraine finds the small casino aboard and manages to lose a year's wages in ten minutes. She swears off gambling ever again.

You briefly catch a news article about Kal Matheson winning one of the big starfighter races and apparently a lower placed racer making all the way up into 3rd. It seems to have been quite an upset to a few of the Nobels on board.

Their industrial module setup. We should get an appreciation for these things for our own shipyard.

Also, see if they're willing to source any production component to us? Our Anchorage is just sitting there collecting dust, and we could put it to use building drive components if we acquired a contract for it.
>>
TSTG, what happens when Veckron torpedoes are shot at a planet?
>>
>industrial module setup. We should get an appreciation for these things for our own shipyard.
The Helios yards are a long established facility. They don't use many of the same modules used in smaller stations intended to be redeployed. As a permanant fixed installation they can build parts manufacturing lines to better supply each slipway, or the drive section production lines.
They have fifty assembly lines each eight kilometers long just for constructing the sublight drive sections.

This pic really is a fairly good representation.

>Also, see if they're willing to source any production component to us?
If they set up production in South Reach they'll give you a call but no promises about awarding any contracts.
>Our Anchorage is just sitting there collecting dust
It's currently being used to construct a structural framework to stabilise a Heavy Carrier enough to make it possible for the ship to make an FTL jump. It's also supporting a large percentage of the RSS fleet on that same operation.

>and we could put it to use building drive components if we acquired a contract for it.
Certainly possible.
There's also nothing stopping you from using industrial modules on any of your stations for the same purpose.

>>31784497
A lot of bad things mostly. I don't believe any have been fired at planets yet by this point in time. While I don't like to put down hard figures for the higher end weapons I will say it would make the Tsar Bomba look like a firecracker.

As a weapon based on subspace technology detonating within the gravity well of a planet might reduce the damage. Going off within an atmosphere would probably make things worse if nukes are any indication.

The construction work on the lodge to put in the trophy room is finished. Having all of the models made of scrap from captured ships and other items put in will take some time still, but the holographic projectors are all installed. They still need some programming as well, but it's looking good. The back wall is carved into the rock slightly, while the slightly curved window looks out on the flat patch in front. Everything is built to match the rest of the lodge perfectly.

You decide to get some sleep before dealing with what are probably a list of calls from people while you've been away.

Five hours later your alarm clock is going off, once again using a randomly selected starship warning sound. Dammit you reset that just before your sister and her friends came over...

Anyway, I'll support the general consensus of 'be paranoid.'
>>
>>31785176
>Did we set our lodge's security to use this starship warning sound?
No, you didn't set anything to use this sound.

Sitting up you tell the alarm to turn off then get up to see what exactly it's all about.
>You are now armed with a pulse pistol.

>>31785403
>Do we sleep with the Plasma Pistol under our pillow?
No, because it doesn't have a stun option should it accidentally go off near your head. If you guys want to change this by all means.

>>31785229
>>31785257
Checking the house system console you see that it has been set to randomise all the sound codes. Id is tagged twice with them having been changed by someone else. Both coincide with times your sister was out here. Looks like you get to visit someone this week.

Also the main door was opened by an unauthorized user for several seconds about a minute ago.

That means it ISNT our sister, I take it.

And our front door doesn't just open without a lock being picked/hacked/smashed?

Can we call up into orbit and have someone contact the police and/or see if any marines could are available?

We have a communicator to contact the groundskeeper?

Can we lock down our house systems and move to the nearest source of BIGGER GUNS? Access security footage for intruder?

Your Recon armor is locked up down in the armory attached to the garage. You do have both your dress uniform and armored jumpsuit in your room. It would probably take as long to reach the armory as it would to put either clothing item on.

>>31785639
>That means it ISNT our sister, I take it.
No.

>And our front door doesn't just open without a lock being picked/hacked/smashed?
No.

>Can we call up into orbit and have someone contact the police and/or see if any marines could are available?
You pull out your com and request a small fire team to your location ASAP.
"Copy that. 15 minutes out."

>We have a communicator to contact the groundskeeper?
He is unresponsive.

>Can we lock down our house systems and move to the nearest source of BIGGER GUNS? Access security footage for intruder?
You attempt to lock the remaining doors. IR and optics near the main door are blinded. ...and the system just crashed due to an EMP.

>What time of day/night is it?
0330

>>31785670
>We scan with our robo-arm firstly
You turn on your HUD back on to see the readings from the arm sensors.
There are several EM signatures within the lodge. Some are from the power cells of your Pistols and other weapons, others are from hand held coms. There is a small room sized jamming field located near Mr Amello's quarters, it is moving slowly towards the back stairwell.

>>31785713
>oh, and is the camo system we took to the Helios facility nearby?
It's with your plasma pistol.

You could try to reach your Recon Suit by sneaking down the front stairs, outside the lodge and into the armory via the garage side door.
Head for the back stairwell to ambush the intruders.
Throw on your body armor before dealing with the intruders.
Or you could barricade yourself within your room until backup arrives.

>Your orders?
>>
>>31786091
Throw on body armor, then head to the back stairwell.
>>
>>31786091
Where is our plasma pistol and camo system? In this room with us?

Is the EM signature heading toward our location? Or is there something else up/down that stairwell?

Where is our mass driver rifle at?

How quickly can we don our body armor?
>>
>>31786091
Throw on the body armor, then find a nice bush to hide in.
>>
>>31786091
It's not good to stay in a fixed position like this when they most likely know where we are. I'd say we head for the Recon Armor and our Plasma pistol right this instant when they may not yet be aware of us being up and about.

On another note. If we survive this may I suggest we make some minor improvements to the lodge? I was thinking we dig down two levels and make additional rooms down there with a reinforced door or something sturdy as well as sentry guns with their own power source down there.

>>31786181
You know I do find it strange that it is not on our night stand at the very lest. Sonia is so darn attached to the thing.
>>
>>31786181
samefag here

Do we have any stun grenades with us?

AOE 'fuck you' to intruders, short of someone wearing power armor. And IIRC, stun effects do work against even marine armor, to a degree.

Set stun grenade to repeat until empty, drop when signature should be reaching stair well...
>>
>>31786181
>Where is our plasma pistol and camo system?
Armory. Securely locked up.
>Is the EM signature heading toward our location? Or is there something else up/down that stairwell?
You are on the upper floor, the EM signature is on the lower floor. They are headed towards one of the 2 stairwells in the building. It is possible they might go past it and into the garage instead. It is equally likely they'll come upstairs.
You can not tell with 100% certainty that they are headed towards you. Your gut says otherwise.

>Where is our mass driver rifle at?
Locked up in the armory. Hidden behind a false panel in the rifle rack.

>How quickly can we don our body armor?
See:
>>31786091
>It would probably take as long to reach the armory as it would to put either clothing item on.
You could likely do so before anyone reaches the door to your room. Probably.

>>31786237
>Sonia is so darn attached to the thing.
You do make a good point. Do you want a safe for it installed in the bedroom? There is always a chance of Bekka (or guests) gaining access to rooms within the lodge.
No you can't retcon that you've already done so.

>>31786317
You have a set of unmarked stun grenades secured from the black market for use on missions while at home. They can not be traced back to you. They are hidden within the carrying case for your armor.
>>
>>31786421
>*Unfortunately* They are hidden within the carrying case for your armor.
>>

Well that is useless. Don our armor, then. By the time we put on our recon armor, our visitor is going to either bug out and escape into the forest or will have come down to find us.
>>
>>31786421
Yes please mister. And I wouldn't want it retconed! This is an interesting challenge, Sonia all alone and only with a pistol. Kinda like that one time when we went to a ball and we meet a nice Royal Guard dude.

Also I am still for bailing from our room without any armor and just in our camouflaged underwear and the pistol.

>>31786522
Oh they are not escaping, no no no. If they want to mess with a war veteran in her prime then they'll get to play!

3 for getting dressed, 1 for running for it.

With little time to spare you throw on your armored jumpsuit and begin to follow it with the dress uniform. No reason not to get as much extra protection as possible.

The arm sensor shows the signal approaching the door and a second later someone tries to manually open it. Using sonar you can catch voices from the other side.

"Door's locked." One of the intruders whispers.
"EMP musta done it. No don't force it! Easy, you'd just wake someone up."
"Told you we shoulda bought grenades."
"Shut it."

The door swings open, quitly but still relatively quickly. You get the distinct impression that these guys may have done this sort of thing before.

Your three shot burst knocks out the first of them to enter the room causing him to fall backwards. The second person catches him and pulls him back out the door and out of the way. Your subsequent shots are all absorbed by the first's limp body.

The barrel of a pistol sticks out around the door frame near the top of the door and fires off several shots striking the sofa. While you're taking cover your sonar picks up one of them moving across to take cover on the other side of the hallway.

You can smell smoke. Probably from where the sofa was hit.

True but if they found our bunker, broke in without triggering the alarm, and brought a minimum of three people to bag and grab us, they have to have done their homework on us.

Better to make them more apprehensive than hope that they monologue for another ten minutes when they already have superior numbers. If they're scared we have more leverage to make them want to bail since they've lost the element of surprise and we're presumably going to tell them hat a strikeforce is already inbound. Add on that the area is under surveillance so there is no use running even if they grab us.

Nothing but spec ops would run after hearing that because mercs gotta live to get paid.

With your power armor.

>Marines. How long?
>How long until our support gets here?
They're ten minutes out.

"Yeah, right. As if I would believe that after somebody has been sending death threats to the other officers in my wing, and me for the last two months. Just give me one good reason why I should believe you."

Leaning out around the sofa at floor level you fire the second you see movement from the doorway. Pulling back you get ready to fire from a different location.

"Quit the tough act and throw down the gun. Some metal trinkets you paid someone to put on yer chest don't mean you can slug it out with the likes of us." Your sonar picks up him cursing; "Sledge, hurry and wake up already."

In an effort to string things along you keep trying to bluff them.
"Marine Strike team is less than five minutes out, with power armor. Throw down your weapons and surrender and I'll consider turning you over to the proper authorities. I don't give Neeran this chance."

"Well thanks for the warning." He then shouts to the other one. "Cover me!"

No one sticks their head or limbs out that you can see but more weapons fire does flash through the door. A dozen energy weapon pulses hit the blankets strewn around the end of your bed causing them to catch fire. The flames begin to spread at a frankly alarming rate.

"Activate fire suppression." Oh right, the computer was EMP'd. Shit, would that mean the water pumps are out too?

>Is it possible to shoot out the skylight and jump out of it?
Possible? Yes, but you'd be exposing yourself to weapons fire.

Continue to return fire. We're in an armored jumpsuit rated for space work, so who gives a fuck about a fabric fire? Our jumpsuit is undoubtedly rated for far higher temperatures than that and we are breathing a separate air supply so all the smoke will do is make it harder to see. keep them pinned down until the smoke obscures their vision, then leave through the window.

The jumpsuit will ablate to stop 1 direct hit at the point of impact if set on kill. Your dress uniform shirt will help.
If set on stun you'll get a hefty jolt from 1 shot but it shouldn't be able to knock you out. Additional hits would be increasingly problematic without time to recover.

You know I was thinking...that one person recomended guard post locations for our property.

After this I think it is the perfect time to look into that. I want guards at our property 24/7, our special safe installed, and we might also want to look into getting bodyguards to protect our family as well.

Every hallway must have ceiling mounted sentry turrets with military grade EMP shielding.

This is non-negotiable.

And when that turret is knocked out or fails to respond, it triggers a mechanical stun grenade trap at the most likely point of ingress used to knock it out.

I think RSS should definitely expand into providing security services by creating a subsidiary company.

The incident outside our Social Club and now this break-in, I'm actually worried. Not only do we need a more permanent security force here at our lodge and for our family, but I think that we need better protection at all of our properties, clubhouses and RSS assets as well.

Switching the pistol to your left hand is no problem as is putting down a steady stream of covering fire through the doorway. You're a bit more nervous about unbalancing or exposing yourself to return fire by dragging the sofa along with you. Once close enough you let go and rush past the flames that now engulf the lower half of the bed. Face burning from the heat, lungs and eyes rebelling from the smoke it's all too easy to get back down to floor level.

Next up you disengage the safety limiters on your right arm, grab hold of the far end of frame and lift, hurling the bed towards the doorway as hard as you possibly can. The frame breaks from the hit scattering flames everywhere.

Next up, escape. The window was beginning to warp stuck from the heat. Six full power pistol shots followed by a cybernetic fist prove enough to break the shatter resistant glass. Glancing over your shoulder confirms that the doorway is still blocked and the fire showing no signs of stopping so you get to work knocking away the glass shards.

Climbing through the opening is a bit awkward but you get through and are faced with hanging down from the sloped roof. Glancing around there's no sign of anyone else around save for an aerocar partially obscured by a tree.
"This is going to hurt."
Letting go you slide down the slope of the roof, partially catching and tearing out the eavestrough on the way down and hit hard on the concrete pad. Rolling to the side with the impact is partially successful but it still hurts. A couple of bones might have been broken were it not for that upgrade.

Resetting the arm safeties and putting the pistol back into stun you limp into the garage, manually unlocking the door on the way.

Recon armor likely takes TIME to get on, and if we could grab the rifle and camo quickly, we'll be able to conduct an ambush.

Recon Armor is a trap choice, unless we jump in that shit in seconds.

>>31791874
Better to lock the door.

With the power and systems overloaded there's one way to be sure to buy time. A trio of pistol shots heats up the metal door frame enough that it should be hard to open, this buys you plenty of time to get the crate open and suit up.

It seems like a short minute but you're soon suited up and armed. Camo active. Pulse pistol, extra ammo and stun grenades.

Good enough.

A swipe with the HF blade cuts through the damaged sections of the door and you're let loose.
Marine ETA: around 4 minutes give or take.

>>
>>31793114
>Are aerocars resistant to being repeatedly shot by phase pistols
Somewhat, or the explosive bits like the engine are. The engines themselves are taken from starfighters.
>and/or stun grenades?
I'm not sure how effective a stun grenade would be against one really. It might screw with their repulsors a bit for a second or two.

>How far away is that car, running in power armor?
30-40 seconds at your current capability.
>Could we reasonably disable it using the kill-mode phase pistol?
It would take multiple shots to the engine to be certain and only the aft part of the car is exposed. From your current location you'd need to shoot through some of the body to get a reasonable hit on the engine.

>And Mr Amello is on the first floor of the building, correct?
Yes.
>>
>>31793435

30-40 seconds and what? 30-40 more to drive our HF into important bits?

Barring a trail of gasoline or some other accelerant, the fire shouldn't be able to spread too quickly down.

Take out the car, stun grenade our FRIENDS if we end up intercepting them.

Laugh like a crazy woman if we end up tossing a stun grenade into their aerocar as they attempt to load their stunned buddy.
>>
>>31793435
Is the shuttle the marines are being transported on armed? If it has anything it ought to be able to disable a standard aerocar.

If not put enough fire into the engine to disable it then send the coordinates to the marines and go search for Mr. Amello.
>>
>>31793576
>30-40 seconds and what?
To reach the vehicle. By that point you could take the more direct route of cutting the control systems out of the cabin with your HF-blade in between 10 and 30 seconds.

Currently:
1-2 votes intercept car/intruders
1-2 votes shoot car
2 votes send marines/help Amello first

You rush into the house and to Amello's quarters. It looks like they stunned him while he was attempting to get his rifle loaded. He's alive though smoke is pooling in the open space up above the main hall and the fire is spreading out from your bedroom.

Hefting the older man as carefully as you can with your suit, you head back into the garage, close the door behind you and set him down near the first aid station. He should be fine for a moment.

Running outside you see the edge of the hatch on the aerocar opening. By the time you've made it across the clearing in front of the lodge the vehicle powers up and lifts off.

"Fucker!" You fire off your phase pistol into it's aft end but only hit it twice thanks to the tree covering it once the craft begins to move. Staying low it heads down into the stream valleys nearby.
"Reynard to marines, assailants just took off in an aerocar, headed west-northwest."
"Copy that sir. We're still decelerating but should be able to attempt intercept soon."

>>
>>31794499

Considering how much we spent on the place, I'd expect the walls to be treated with future chemicals to make them less flamable, the safes to be flame resistant, and the door to the bunker should be closed anyway.

It's probably still going to be a lot of property damage, but at some points the pipes for the sprinkler system will burst from the heat, and that should at least give the fire brigade some additional time to arrive.

With the power armor, we should also be able to secure more than a few items, maybe even try to reboot the computer system.
>>
"Good news sir, we got them!"
"Dead or alive?"
"Alive. We used the recovery tractor beams to snag them once they get into the open. They were trying to pass themselves off as a normal ground level repulsor car."

"Good work, now get back here ASAP my lodge is on fire and I can't get an ETA on the fire crews."

It turns out that the understaffing problem the emergency services in the region are suffering isn't limited to police. It takes time for the volunteer fire department to mobilise and get out to the area. Meanwhile you make sure Amello is looked after with the medkit properly before grabbing a hand extinguisher.

Oh shit. The Fire spread through the open room a bit faster than you expected it would. The trophy room is easy to lock down and isolate but everything else not in the bunker is going to be a problem.

One of the Marine technicians rush inside in full armor once they land to try and help you get the extinguishers working but it looks like the power feeds to all the water pumps were screwed over by the little EMP. The open kitchen area has a chemical extinguisher system present which you're able to manually trigger. Soon most of the lower level is covered in white powder helping to contain the damage.

Fire crews do eventually arrive and put out the remainder by which point you've evacuated outside.

Damage estimates are heavy. While the structure is still stable enough that it did not collapse much of the wood sections did take heat or fire damage. The roof and upper level will need to be replaced entirely.

How do you plan to interrogate your prisoners? Do you wish to formally charge them or deal with them off the record?

If it was in the process of their attack or violently resisting capture you could have easily done so. Though you still would have had to fill out plenty of reports. As they surrendered (when their vehicle was lock onto but still) and were thus captured they would have to be tried and sentenced. Given that they'll likely be charged with attempted murder you could ask for the judge to give them the death penalty or even to have them implanted with slave chips. Otherwise they'll spend many decades imprisoned.

As for the drop box, don't suppose we could call in more Marines and go there to bust some skulls? No one calls Sonia bitch.

Annnnd that it's for me for the rest of this thread, now I'm going camping.

Well, it's not like they actually did kill Sonia, or the groundskeeper, plus they fully cooperated. I say just hand them over nonchalantly, as if catching would-be kidnappers is routine for us and recommend burglary/arson charges. After all, they did set fire to our house. Personally, I'm fine with whatever sentence the House passes.

Sonia gets shot at for a living, I'm not going to sweat a kidnapping attempt.
>>

If people feel like we need to get back at them, how about we have our marines take them somewhere in the woods, hand them a pair of shovels, and tell them to start digging.

We let them stage a mock execution and then hand these guys off to the proper authorities. Although we might want to call our lawyers before actually doing that.

At the very least, we should be having these two idiots turned over to House Intel and thrown at a suicide mission with slave chips.

If acted upon quickly enough, these two could allow Sonia or Intel to catch a bigger fish.
>>
>>31800974
>If acted upon quickly enough, these two could allow Sonia or Intel to catch a bigger fish.
Right, we should book it out to the drop box if we can make the call in time. That way, we can set up a container full of marines to catch whomever set up this amateurish shitshow.

We've already got all the useful information we could possibly need out of these guys, and there's no reason to be completely vindictive. They're just sloppy incompetent mercs who were looking for a big payday.

Now, if they had done anything to Sonia's family, I'd advocate going full Punisher on them.
>>
>>31801013
They aren't even mercs. They're drug growers playing at kidnapping.

When your target is too hard, you find weaker positions to strike to weaken the target enough to strike. Sonia should know this, and that the weaker positions for kidnapping are her brother, sister and mother.

We should ensure that these two idiots are made example of, and that we do the same to the next group as well, so people say 'fuck that' when it comes to touching anyone in our family.
>>
>>31801053
>so people say 'fuck that' when it comes to touching anyone in our family.
Honestly, being ruthless and bloodthirsty isn't going to be an incentive not to mess with Sonia. If anything, it'd encourage revenge hits. An ounce of mercy goes a long way. How about we recommend the burglary/arson charges, let the mercs know we recommended such charges, and suggest what'll happen to them the next time they try to mess with a Reynard?

Best way to secure the family, though, would be to move them out of their apartment and onto a secure estate protected by men-at-arms. We ARE technically nobility now. That's how they live, and they live that way for a reason.
>>
>>31797311
>Can we make it to "Drop-box" in time?
Just barely. You have the marines prep the shuttle for quick dust off.

>Get enough of a voiceprint of "Slag" that we can make a communicator so that we can go to the drop site and impersonate the thugs and grab the next fish up in the crime pond.
One of the Marine technicians downloads a program for this and begins setting it up.

"Did you actually know who you were trying to kidnap?"
"We were told that it was some rich noble that had gone off to war, that's why we set up the grow op there, nobody was around. Kidnapping was just supposed to be a quick snatch and grab. Disable the building systems and take everyone by surprise and we get a good sized ransom from the family. Nobody said anything about no special ops!"

"Who decided to grow on my land?"
"One of the other guys that got arrested. He said that since he had a medical condition we could only be brought up on minor charges."

You ask for some fun information next like where they stash money, weapons and gear, safe houses, maybe even their boss if they have one other than their contact.

"I'm not telling you where our money is!"
You draw your HF blade.
"By which I mean I wouldn't mind knowing if we could work out some kinda ekwable trade?"
"You mean equitable."
"That's what I said."

"What about the third guy? If he was still in the House he might be a bit crispy right about now, what with it burned down and everything."
"Oh man."
"Yeah, shame you picked a target that actually earned those metal trinkets. So where is he?"

"You want really want him? Fine." He looks off to the side towards one corner of the bunker.

"Over here." Whispers a voice a half dozen meters to your left.

I guess the other players won't agree, but I do feel kinda sorry for these guys. They somewhat remind me of Mike, just that things didn't go as well for them at some point as they did for him.

They're young, poor, and seemingly not too bright. An unfortunate combination.

I would suggest we see if the cloaked guy needs medical attention, and then suggest a deal that ends with them serving a moderate sentence and being banned from the house worlds afterwards. Maybe a new identity too if the people we're going after prove to be influental.

Of course, they'll have to convince Mr Amello that they deserve leniency, too.

showing mercy to a bunch of idiots that attempted to kidnap a Knight Captain of the House is going to get us into shit with every noble in the House.

The moment you even let the idea slip into the minds of the masses that they can attempt to kidnap and ransom and not be punished severely for it, the more people are going to attempt it.

Unless the House has a policy of appearing weak in how it handles attempted assassinations/kidnappings of nobles, mercy for these guys is inexcusable.
>>
>>31801646
>Unless the House has a policy of appearing weak
People who are afraid of appearing weak are normally weak. Whatever happened to Sonia's nerve of steel? Because they're a bunch of incompetent idiots is exactly why we should show mercy. Their word of mouth on how "nobody should mess with Knight Captain Reynard" will achieve what you're looking to accomplish, without causing Sonia to look like a bloodthirsty lunatic.

Plus, burglary and arson of a nobles estate isn't exactly going to carry a light sentence in the first place. Remember, we're upper class. I'd be willing to guess that they'll face several years of hard labor, or worse, just for those two charges.

You quickly ping the room with your arm sensor at full power then activate your camo, changing locations the moment you're no longer visible. Weapon at the ready you put your back up against one of the walls while keeping an eye out.
"All Marines, possible Holo camo user on the premises. Stand by with stun grenade-"

"Hahaha!" laughts Ruzsa. "Made you go invisible you're so scared! I can't believe you fell for tha even with your fancy suit on."

Doing a playback of the sensor and sonar recordings you attempt to trace the sound waves for the voice you heard. They were reflected off the wall it looks like, the source should be right where the tied up thug is sitting.

"Sure. In your position I'd try to make the person who I'm talking to like me as much as possible."

>Everyone okay with this? Any additional orders before setting out?

We should probably ask if the last guy had any kind of communication device on him. It would be pretty useless to prepare a trap if he's already called his friends and told them the kidnapping went sour.
>>
The marines secured their communication devices once captured.
"Have they made any calls?" You ask after heading back upstairs.

"There's one tagged around midnight local time then it looks like they turns their coms off."
"Probably so that it wouldn't make extra noise and wake someone up." Points out one of the others.

Climbing aboard the shuttle with a five man squad you tell the others to call in more support to watch the area. A minute later the shuttle is goes sub-orbital to get enough speed to make the target in time.
"Is that voice program ready?"
"Yes sir. It should pass cursory inspection."
"Good job." Hopefully it works properly.

A few more minutes is enough time to descend through the thicker layers of atmosphere and decelerate enough to come in for a landing without setting everything nearby on fire.

"Is that it?" Asks the pilot, uploading an image of a mailbox just on the edges of a small town.

"Should be it."

Hopping out it's a simple matter to look up which one is used by the two would be kidnappers. A few keys also taken from them eventually prove to be a match and opens one of the boxes. Inside is a scrap of paper with the a number etched into it.

"Com number secure."

It's coming up to 1000 hours shortly.
With the voice modulation program in place what do you plan to say?

Yes. They're similar to modern storage units you can rent except they tend to be much larger facilities stacking hundreds of container blocks, though not always. Often sections of them will be underground to reduce their visible footprint.

There are also long term storage depots that offer to use stasis containment which you saw your father make use of on occasion when you were younger.

Using the com and some cash cards from the other two you rent out one of the containers, making sure you have the number.
After that you quickly send off your data to intel, including letting them know what number you're about to call.

1000 hours rolls around and you place the call.
"Rich-tits is in the drop location. It went even easier than expected, got her when she was asleep in bed."
"Even Nobles require sleep. Where is Sledge?" Asks the mystery contact.

"Sledge caught a stun round to the throat and is no place to be talking right now. Here's the number." you string off the auto depot container number you were given.

"Your payment will be at the next depot over once I've confirmed delivery."

Your arm is able to easily detect where the signal from the com is directed. To a nearby wireless tower. There are two other active signals from this side of the town connected to the same tower. However, the call could be routed anywhere on the planet from that tower and you lack the ability to trace it beyond there.

Intel might now that you've let them know what's going on.

Do you want to attempt to stall the person on the other end of the line so they can trace it more easily, or hang up?

"This better be worth the pay. Sledge gonna be mighty pissed when he wakes up. Good thing she didn't have that pistol it set to kill."

"It will pay enough to get your friends out of prison a year sooner. Just keep up your end and stay out of trouble."
The person on the other end hangs up after that.

Calling up your intel contact you ask if they were able to trace the call you just made.

"They're in one of the cities. We almost had it to within 100m before the signal died. They most likely destroyed the com."

Stun the shit out of smart mouth and throw him into the container under cloak.

Sonia takes a ride with him, under cloak and with her toys. If we can put a marine under cloak on overwatch too, even better.
>>
>>31804773
No, no, what we want to do is throw him into the container then wait outside. If someone shows up, they might just shoot whoever's in the container, and that's not a lot of space to dodge in. So we wait outside, with marine drop-team on call. When someone shows up and opens the container, then we call in the team and make our own move.

That works, though I'm worried about the container being moved with the automatic systems, if I understand the facility correctly.

Yeah, if it's automatic, then surely we can just wait outside the storage bay where it'll be called too, and if it's a manual container-yard type, then we can just wait outside the container itself.

The second shuttle will have landed by now. You ask them to stun the more talkative of the two prisoners, toss him in the back then get to the container depot ASAP. Meanwhile you and another marine will keep watch under camo.

Switching to repulsors only to reduce engine noise and light emissions the shuttle comes in low half a kilometer out allowing the two of you to rope down behind some trees.

"I really wish Valeri or Rufaro were here sir. I'm not as familiar with the camo systems."
"Don't worry about it." You urge him. "Just cover the entrance for a vehicle leaving with a container marked with that number."

Heading inside its easy enough to find the drop off and pickup locations. There are coloured lines for the drivers to follow into the approach lanes depending on the type of vehicle they're driving. The code guide posted seemingly on every available surface. All the loading points you can see are near the main entrance and have conspicuous frames extending out over them for the cargo mover arms to work with. Decidedly low tech but more than adequate.

The shuttle crew call in.
"Sir, there's another two or more container loading points at the back for damaged containers. Do you want them sabotaged or just cover them?"

It will take a few minutes for the second shuttle to arrive with their guest for your planned container.

"Hack the ones at the rear pad. Its easier to fix than physical damage."

The second shuttle arrives and sets down, four marines carrying an ammo crate large enough to put a person inside. A fifth one is wearing Slag's jacket and has messed up his hair enough to pass for him from a distance.
Climbing to the top of the loading arms you watch them summon the container you rented and toss the stunned body inside. One of them climbs up and marks the top of the container with nearly invisible IR reflective paint.

They make it out of the depot and less than twenty minutes later one of the repulsor trucks that are pulling in summons the container. Sliding down from your position you land on top of the truck and secure yourself.
Once loaded the driver, a rather gaunt man in his 40's, gets out and sticks a scanner to the side of the container.

"Morning Tim, what you up to?" Asks one of the depot technicians.

"Just checking for stowaways. You know how it is. Looks clean, I'll see you later."

"Don't forget you still need to pick up that other container for the box company. It's going to cost you extra if you keep it here much longer."
"I'll get it later."

The vehicle leaves the depot at which point your sensors detect an outgoing call from the driver.

"It's me. I'm bringing in that delivery to the second point. Your boys can clear it."

The next four hours are spent in transit to one of the minor cargo ports in the region. While technically rated as a small spaceport it's only used to ferry goods from the surrounding 2500km out to the major cities on the coast. A Frigate converted for atmospheric cargo hauling is currently taking up the main berth.

The repulsor truck stops at one of the terminals at which point the container is detached to be moved inside. Do you want to have your people pick up the driver once he leaves the port?

"Follow the truck driver. Get his image an license plate into the database."

You meanwhile follow the container as it is lowered into the depths of the space port. There's enough of a gap between the loading arms that you don't have to hang off the side or do anything else excessively dangerous. After being shuffled around the facility for a few minutes the container arrives at a security scanning station that looks to be closed off.

Several people dressed like mercenaries or a poorly equipped black ops team are present, armed with a mix of silenced ballistic weapons and phase rifles.

"Bring it down nice and steady." Orders the team leader, a human whose hair has gone completely white.
"Weapons ready. They were supposed to hit her with a sedative but we're not taking any chances given the size of that bounty."
"If you're worried why don't we just blast her?"

"The family will pay a lot more for a living body than some pieces of crap from South Reach will for a dead one. Besides, do you really want to wait more than three weeks to get paid?"

That shuts the others up. Three of them cover the doors while a fourth one readies a flashbang and pulls the lock to open the container.

Not wanting to let the one at the control console become a problem later you drop down to floor level while the others open the container door.

"One body, not moving."
"Dren?"
"Moving in."

Only one of them steps into the container, the others ready to fire or duck out of the way if anything unusual happens. Not quite as you planned. That's fine, you have options. The first of which is readying both stun grenades.

"It's not her!" Shouts the one in the container.
"Shit."

Everyone begins to back away, looking everywhere. The leader is about to hit a button on his helmet when you throw both grenades, one into the container, the other in front of it.

Grabbing the collar of the one at the control panel you shoot him in the back with your stun pistol while taking cover. The entire bay lights up from the stun grenades going off and your sonar picks up the distinctive sound of a metal grenade rolling across the floor.
The flash bang goes off relatively close to your position but your suit is able to handle the worst of the explosion.

"This is Reynard, I've stunned five hostiles. Contact building security and home in on my signal."
"Copy that sir." Responds one of your men at arms, their voice sounding quite a bit scratchier than normal. "Be advised we're getting some coms interference from the building structure. Smugglers, drug runners or nobles that want to keep their business confidential might have set up scramblers to make customs checks more difficult."

"I read you."

There are a few shouts coming from a hallway leading elsewhere into the building and your solar picks up the sound of several people running in your direction. A quick check shows six more mercs.

Rushing back to the container you grab one of the stun grenades, reset it and hurl it through the open doorway. There are a few cracks of weapons fire before it goes off by which point you've retrieved the second grenade from inside and are headed back to engage them. Setting it for a double pulse this time you set yourself near the entrance and wait until you detect movement from the squad preparing to rush the doorway.

A flashbang bounces off the door frame landing at your feet and you barely have time to kick it back into the hall before it detonates. Following through with the stun pulse grenade the rest of the squad are caught mostly by surprise with the sudden one-two combination.

Checking them with your pistol drawn it looks like they were getting ready to switch to slightly more lethal ordinance next given their lack of other flashbangs.

Alarms begin to blare and the sounds from the cargo movers begin to speed up.

"All security personnel, we have reports of weapons fire in the lower levels. We are beginning lockdown effective immediately."

The soud of heavy blast doors slamming shut begins to echo through the facility and the cargo movers come to a halt.

"Guys what's your status?" you ask.
"We're talking to building security right now sir. The people in charge of the spaceport can't be certain who might be cooperating with any armed mercs in the building and want's to keep them from escaping. Especially since no one has been officially authorised to deploy armed troops on the property."

"What about unofficially?"
"That's where the problem might be sir. We're working on it. You might be down there for an hour or two. Is there anything you would like us to take care of?"

At this point you detect a communicator belonging to the Merc leader going off. You lack sufficient voice samples pull off the voice modulation trick again.

>Your orders?
>>
>>31809473
>Your orders?

Answer the communicator, and use the control console to make noise with the moving equipment so the other end of the line will have trouble understanding Sonia's voice.
>>
>>31809562
This is actually pretty good.

We should tie up/handcuff all the mercs though. We don't want any of them waking up and sneaking on us.
>>
>>31809473
Listen in first then say, "What's your next move now hot shot?"

While listening in, tell house Intel to track all comm traffic leading into the facility. Hopefully the taunt will give us enough time to get a decent fix while he rants/monologues.
>>
>>31809562
This is good and if the intel boys can do their thing it will be even better.
>>
Acting quickly you pick up the communicator and stun the mercs again since you don't have time to secure them and do everything else. Next, you hit the control console and get the cargo movers in the bay to make as much noise as possible.
Hopefully the Marines will have intel attempting to track all com traffic coming out of the port by now. Either way you're out of time as the com is on it's 6th ring.

"Has the package arrived yet? Is it secured?" asks someone using voice masking on the other end.

"Respond, immediately." they ask a few seconds later.

>>31809618
>"What's your next move now hot shot?"
Say this?
>>
>>31809871
>Say this?
Let's not.

I'd go with "Affirmative."
>>
>>31809871

>>
>>31809893
Second. Also wow, someone sure is going through a lot of trouble just for us. Guess we made a bigger splash on the south reach than I thought
>>
>>31809893
Basically yeah.

"Affirmative. Package is secured"
>>
"Affirmative. Package is secured." you respond, attempting to lower your voice as much as possible.

"Good. Wait, who is this? I hired Adler. Put him on the line immediately, I don't care what his problem is."

>>31810215

>>31810294

>>
>>31810294
add "Give me a minute."

Then "Stun that bitch again to be sure." and stun one of the mooks twice. "If she moves, put a round in her limbs."

Proceed to fake attempting to get Adler up, then curse about how the bitch better not have killed him.
>>
>>31810294
>>31810449
Sounds like a plan.
>>
>>31810294
"Adler is unconscious. The target smashed the door on his head when we went to open the container."

"That should not have been possible." Protests the voice. "Steps were taken."

"Give me a minute." you reply then hold out the com at arm's length. Turning your head the other way you mock shouting at other mercs.
"Stun that bitch again to be sure." Before firing your pistol. "If she moves, put a round in her limbs. Sir, we need you to wake up. Give him some stims to bring him around."

You hope your acting skills hold up as you curse about how the bitch better not have killed him.

The voice on the other end attempts to get your attention. "Fine, forget about Adler. If you want to get paid send an image of the package to the following number within two minutes or we're moving to plan B."

Make sure the mercs are still unconscious, grab a jacket without any markings from one of them, take off our helmet, smear some dirt on our face, and take a photo of Sonia's upper body, showing us slouched against a container.
>>
>>31810807
Photoshop? We're right here. Surely we can set up a quick self shot of us sitting seemingly restrained within the container.
>>
>>31810875
Depends on how quick we can shuck the Recon armor.
>>
>>31810846
>>31810856
we'll need to remove the upper portions of our recon armor, likely, and put our fake arm/hand in the picture as well.
>>
>>31810890
Should be pretty doable considering that we got it on in enough time to chase down the thugs before they even reached their aerocar from the lodge AFTER grabbing and moving Mr. Amello.
>>
>>31810762
It takes about a minute to get out of the suit so it's time to do a fast photo shoot. Hands tied and everything.

Can we make it so it sends the picture to said number right after it's being taken?
>>
>>31810856
Don't forget a couple scorch marks on the jacket so that the stuns look apparent enough to prevent suspicion.
>>
>>31810807
>Have intel try to trace down the number.
They're working on it.

>and for a fast photoshop job.
They need more than two minutes.

>Make sure the mercs are still unconscious
You do have enough time to ziptie most of them.

>>31810856
>grab a jacket without any markings from one of them, take off our helmet, smear some dirt on our face, and take a photo of Sonia's upper body, showing us slouched against a container.

>sitting seemingly restrained within the container.
>>31810931
>remove the upper portions of our recon armor, likely, and put our fake arm/hand in the picture as well.

Okay, no big deal. You take off your helmet and the upper half of your armor and realise you're still wearing the jumpsuit underneath... screw it, you can hide most of it with a jacket and and your legs with a tarp from nearby.

>and put our fake arm/hand in the picture as well.
>Hands tied and everything.

Um... That is going to make it difficult to hold a small com device if your hands are in the picture, and they don't prop up against a wall very well.

Modifications to this plan?
>>
>>31811345
>Modifications to this plan?
Use the jacket of a merc to make an impromptu pedestal for it.
>>
>>31811345
Easy.

Drag a merc over to where we are. Put comm device against merc set to a timer to take said picture and send to send it as soon as it's taken.
>>
>>31811489
That also works.
>>
Wad up a jacket and place it on a crate or some such thing to get a relatively high angle so that it doesn't appear to be taken from ground/knee level. Hold arms behind us so that it hides our curious lack of bindings.
>>
It takes a few seconds to fleece a couple of the mercs of their jackets and get the camera set up. Setting the timer you know it's going to be close. Tarp check, clothing check, wrists visibly tied check and with that you hit the deck of the container in time for the picture to be taken.
Scrambling to your feet after the picture is taken you thumb through a couple of menus.
>Confirm send?
Yes! Go!
>Image sent!

Thank goodness. You stun the rest of the mercs in the hall since you hadn't gotten around to that yet then talk to the intel people so see how they're doing.

"The number belongs to a secure info terminal in one of the major cities. We have the location and police are closing in now."

A minute later you get the next report from them. They've arrested the person at the terminal but it may have just been a bystander with no connection. The person does have the image you sent but they were in the process of contacting the police about it.
"We're going to hold them for questioning as long as we can."

It's two hours later when the Marines and security reach the lower sections of the space port cargo handling bays and are able to haul away the now thoroughly secured mercenaries.

Once they've been handed off to police topside the rest of your Marines move to escort you, preventing anyone else from getting close.
"We have a problem sir."

"What is it?" you reply.
"Media. A dozen of them have already shown up to ask about why the space port was closed, the sudden police presence and why our shuttle put down just before everything broke loose. It's registered to the Devourer so someone is probably running the serial numbers by now. Our power cell armor also tends to stand out."

>Do you have any statement you'd like to make to the media? Would you prefer the police enforce a temporary media blackout about the fire and reasons for the spaceport closure?
>>
>>31811975
No statement, get the police to institute a blackout while we continue our investigation.
>>
>>31811975

Can we get the owner of the space port on the phone? Maybe we can make up a story that he was so kind to provide us with his facility for a training scenario, and things went slightly out of hand.
>>

Contact House Intel immediately, secure line.

"Plan B" is likely going after a family member, a knight in our wing, or one of our crew.

We need security details assigned immediately to ranking crew and specialists.

Then RSS needs to be put on high alert, as well. Mr London or his family could be plan B.

I agree. We still have a guy to catch and I get the feeling we will be working with Intel on this one.

She's currently busy talking to police and the spaceport operators. There are accusations of corruption and smuggling being thrown about.

>Maybe we can make up a story that he was so kind to provide us with his facility for a training scenario, and things went slightly out of hand.
You leave this message with the secretary along with contact information.

>>31812177
>deploy that jamming gauntlet and casually walk past them.
It's in the bunker being checked out and even if you did have it on you its range is quite short. The sensor array in your arm could cause far more damage or more limited effects of a similar sort. Do so?

>Contact House Intel immediately, secure line.
>"Plan B" is likely going after a family member, a knight in our wing, or one of our crew.
>We need security details assigned immediately to ranking crew and specialists.

"Knight Captain I'm going to help you as much as I can with this in the short term, but do keep in mind there's only so much House intel assets should be used to help any one person. You are going to have to develop your own contacts and assets to look after your businesses and family without our help. But don't worry, until then we'll help you keep an eye on things..." He looks off to the side at another screen then back to yours. "Captain Reynard have you spoken to your family after the initial event took place?"

We need to find Bekka. The parents always pay and she is vulnerable at another friend's house.

We need to get House Intel to focus their assets on her. The real brains behind this op knows our weakness for our baby sis.
>>
"No, my parents are on vacation and my sister is staying at a friend of hers. I thought it would be better not to contact them in case somebody was monitoring my comms."

"If you know their whereabouts I would suggest sending teams to their locations immediately. There was an incident at a school your sister is registered as attending a little over an hour ago. Several students are missing. No nobles officially attend so the local police didn't flag it as a usual high profile kidnapping at first. I'm going to have one of my people verify the headcount and get back to you with relevant data. We'll talk again Captain."

With that the channel closes.

Which would be great if they hadn't just been arrested. The Dro'all Noble who owns the port also wants to know just what the hell was going on and how they managed to get an area set aside for their little operation.

They're also slightly unconscious still due to being stunned multiple times and will take a bit before they can be woken up.

This or wait until some of the mercs can be woken up at the police station?

Also what do you plan to do with the other 2 conspirators? The truck driver Tim, and Mr Sledge back at the bunker. Arrest them too?
>>
>>31812766
Seconding this...kinda. I want our bodyguards, men-at-arms and all loyal marines on station ASAP.

Put the Devourer into lockdown mode and contact Mr London to inform him that company asserts may soon be under attack and to take all necessary steps.

Calling Alex and Mike and grabbing their respective forces would also probably be a good step.
>>
>>31813192
The guy played his hand. Plan B was to kidnap Bekka.

Either she and her squad went to ground thanks to the street gang one, or they're captured and we'll have a ransom demand soon.

We should get our marines and ourselves to her school area ASAP, however. We might run across our sister or witnesses.
>>
>>31813258
We can't assume that's the only part. Putting a call out to all of our loyal forces on the Homeworld to help secure our assets is just a smart precaution.

But I do agree that we and the marines with us right now should proceed to Bekka's school with no delay.
>>
We've hit autosage, btw.
>>
>>31813086
Everyone.

Start with Alex & Mike and then have them spread the word that someone is picking a fight with the boys and girls of 3rd and 5th Attack Wings. Their preferred method: Kidnapping.

I want it known that we will do anything for our family and we would do the same for any of our people under our command.

CALL.....EVERYONE.
>>
>>31813480
That seems excessive. Asking Alex and Mike for possible help seems fine, but we should just have them pass on a warning to the rest of 3rd & 5th wing.

Hopefully some people will ask to help on their own.

>>31812379
>Knight Captain I'm going to help you as much as I can with this in the short term, but do keep in mind there's only so much House intel assets should be used to help any one person. >>
>>31813660
That was actually what I wanted to do though I was trying to channel Sonia into my writing if that makes sense.
>>
>>31813764
I think that was his way of saying "you should have hired security forces that probably would have been bribed to do the kidnapping by us so we can have a bigger budget"
>>
>>31813822
Which funnily enough I think is the next thing on our to do list is create a security force through our company.

That and getting this bounty off our head though i'm pretty sure that has jumped to the 1st priority after this.
>>
Autosage. We've been moving along this week I guess. I'm considering running a second thread this week since I have a couple of short shifts for the next 2 days. Thoughts? Also it seems that suptg is alternating between being down and running so slow it's being mistaken as being down so it's taking me longer to archive.
And it's down again.

Hopping in the shuttle you ask two of the marines to remain and assist the police with their investigation at the space port. After that you head for the city at best possible speed to see what happened at Bekka's school. on the way you start making calls. Alex and Mike are the first ones contacted followed by the other squadron leaders in 3rd then Daska. You make sure all of them are alerted to the possibility of kidnapping attempts in the recent future.

Alex asks if ransom demands have come in yet.
"No, but my parents are on vacation so they would be hard to get hold of and most of my lodge was damaged in a fire from the first kidnapping attempt this morning."
"Do you have kidnapping insurance yet?"
"I'd better." you grumble, though you suspect that would require someone actively setting it up.
"How big was the bodyguard contingent?"
"Alex you've been out to my lodge it's in the middle of nowhere, and I figured if I assigned guards to look after the rest of my family it might draw attention to them."
Your former wingman gives you a serious look. "Sonia your company has more cash at any given time than most of my family has assets. You have to take the possibility of this sort of thing seriously, I would have warned you if I'd realised you weren't."

Daska is likewise disappointed in your lack of security measures. "I will try to maintain watch on the rest of the unit while you deal with getting your missing sibling back."

Mike proves to be less concerned about the safety of his own family given the threats they face daily and says he'll be ready with a few volunteers within the day.
>>
>>31814145
you know, it wouldn't be shocking if Mr London had set up some form of insurance as part of the business. Probably doesn't cover Bekka, though.
>>

A few of your pilots can spare time to help out if you need them along with a dozen of their marines.
Ecord is off world and is unavailable.

Allied assets:
11 Knights (9 Pilots, 2 Marines)
40 Marines
1 LST
6 Shuttles
5 Starfighters
∞ Aerocars

Arriving at the school in the early afternoon there are already a few news vehicles parked within walking distance. A dozen camera drones are outside the property. With little room to park you rope down with a body guard while the others take the shuttle to secure an aerocar for better access.

Police don't seem pleased that they have to deal with an irate noble in power armor in addition to everything else but do their best to answer your questions.
An aerocar outfitted with a supercharged engine was sighted on the same street as the school where they were likely observing the sports fields over the course of the day. Shortly after lunch hour it took off and landed in one of the fields where a number of students were gathered, the occupants then used a grenade launcher to fire a pair of stun grenades into the crowd.

They took as many as five young teens with them then escaped at high speed. Their vehicle was last sighted entering an underground service tunnel. Unfortunately it's a big city and it would be easy for it to merge with ground level repulsor traffic using connecting cross tunnels and drainage spill ways.

Two of the missing kids on the list are Bekka and her friend Dan along with others you don't recognise. Bekka's two other friends are among those hospitalised.

"If its true that you were also targeted for kidnapping grabbing the other kids may have just been a cover to throw off local PD." Suggests a police sergeant.

>Questions for the officers?
>>
>>31814784
We should call our parents.
"Mom, if you had a tracking chip installed in Bekka, now is the right time to tell me."
>>
>>31814784
>>Questions for the officers?
-What can we do to help them?
-How much will this cost us if we simply decide to play?
-Why the hell is there a difference between "kidnapped teenager" and "kidnapped teenager from a noble family"?
>>
>>31814784
I'm tempted to go to the news cameras, ask for a moment of their time, and say something along the following:

We're Knight Captain Reynard, 14 men just failed to successfully kidnap us, so they kidnapped our sister and 4 other children from this school.

To the kidnappers and the persons they're handing the kidnapped persons off to:
You have two hours to drop off all 5 persons, alive, at a police station or medical facility and we'll forget that we should find and deal with you in most unpleasant ways.

During those 2 hours, we'll be hunting.

If those 2 hours pass and they're not released, we're certain that many more people will be hunting you.
>>
>>31814784
Don't really know what to ask him. What are the normal procedures that happen in cases like this?

>>31815310
Not sure if I want to do that as it might inflame the situation and give them a heads up that they are going to pay for what they did.
>>
"Mom, if you had a tracking chip installed in Bekka, now is the right time to tell me."

"Your father used to joke about getting one for you when your were younger but we figured if we did it would result in us stuck in an old age home with similar tracking monitors later in life. We're okay by the way Sonia thank you for asking."
"Sorry. Are you really okay though?"
"A few of your friends from House intelligence showed up and have provided an escort. We're on our way to pick up the baby now. Find your sister, then I'll say that I'm okay."
"That goes for me as well." Your father adds.

>-What can we do to help them?
"Not antagonise the kidnappers if you can, but it seems you may have already done that. Follow the instructions they give you. In most cases it works out safer for everyone to pay the ransom. People like yourself are just as likely to take matters into their own hands and complicate things."

>-How much will this cost us if we simply decide to play? (pay?)
"From the information we've been given normally you'd be insured at a minimum of 20 million, so start around there and go up."

>-Why the hell is there a difference between "kidnapped teenager" and "kidnapped teenager from a noble family"?
"Kidnapping multiple people can mean a number of things. Could easily be a slaver ring if they're lower to middle class, though they don't normally risk hitting middle class schools if they can help it. For a Noble that almost always means ransom. Assassination would have been far simpler for someone seeking revenge since you can't count on wounding or disabling someone permanantly with modern medicine.
All of that means we need to change where we're looking."
>>
>>31815672
>"From the information we've been given normally you'd be insured at a minimum of 20 million, so start around there and go up."

So, was somebody so nice to get Sonia one of these policies when she became a noble? Or will we have to pay out of our own pocket?
>>
>>31815672
You know...I feel that everything after this is going to consist of 100% work.

This is probably why the Baron keeps herself busy and has taken to drinking....I think i'm going to make myself a drink as well.
>>
A quick check of your personal funds after the sales of 100 SP Torpedoes to the House shows you currently sitting at around 90 million. You should be able to afford a good sized ransom if you decide to go that direction and those repairs to the Lodge.

Mr Amello is less than pleased about the damage done to the place and the threat on both your lives. Which is to say that he's tempted to shoot the remaining prisoner, take a cast of their face and mount the resulting model someplace appropriately. Like as a knife rack with multiple knives stabbed through it.

>>31815815
>So, was somebody so nice to get Sonia one of these policies when she became a noble? Or will we have to pay out of our own pocket?
Well normally you'd have to set it up with your insurance company. You're covered against death by military insurance which is such a small amount it's barely worth mentioning compared to the rest of your funds. Kidnapping insurance is a civilian problem and one that nobles and their families usually deal with or ignore themselves. Some don't take such insurance, instead investing in more guards and protection.
You've done neither, though there has been discussion about the guards.

Mr London has received your message and has already been at work for the past week or two attempting to get a company intel framework into place. It is proving to be hard work. No surprise.
With the current heightened state of alert he has spent some money ensuring that PDF and military will have enough personnel aboard the stations for the time being to fill any gap left by most of the mercs being away on salvage jobs.

"It's difficult work as I'm trying to balance different backgrounds of the various people that would seem to be most suitable for the job."
"Is that because you don't trust them?"
"Exactly."

Thread has just about fallen off the board. I cant believe I didn't link the thread from the wiki main page again.

I will be starting the next thread after 4PM EST tomorrow.
