You are the daemon Kimaris. You were kind of a big deal back in the day, you were quite strong. Then came one Avitus the Conqueror and ,through a most cunning and complicated magical ritual, sealed you inside his own weapon, a sword. At first you were pissed, but then realized the benefits of being able to drink the souls of all your wielder's enemies. Life was good, but Avitus, in his foolish paranoia buried you with him. Now, after centuries of waiting you have acquired a new wielder - Varyn the Necromancer. You went on a journey away from the tomb and were immediately ambushed by bandits. You've killed one of them but there are still more foes to defeat.

Varyn charges at the one on the left flank before mister twin dagger can pounce him. And it seems that he is against the longsword wielding bandit. One day you'll be the best bloody sword in this fucking continent! Varyn strikes, but it isn't enough.

Apparently this particular bandit had some merit. Though Varyn did put a wicked wound on one of his hands, sadly it wasn't his sword arm so he stroke back. Varyn managed to dodge the hit put he had to put in some extra effort on his part. His wounds are wearing him down more and more...

>Take this guy down, now.
>Back off, others might be trying to get a hit from behind.
>Try and get behind this guy to push him into the others.

Going to run shortly today, will run on Tuesday as well.

Varyn goes for another attack against the bandit. He waits until the guy takes a swing and avoids while getting in reach to stab the bastard in the neck. Needless to say he's successful. After pulling out the blade he glances back quickly and jumps away from one of the thugs trying to land a hit on his back.

There's five people in front of him. Wielding all kinds of weapons ranging from swords to makeshift bone mauls.

Out of the corner of your eye you see that three of the bandits have been cut down by the servants, one of the bandits, the one you injured the first, seems to be hanging back from all of this.

'Dammit... What do you think, should I use some magic here?' asks Varyn in a tired voice through the connection between you and him.

>Don't use magic. You can take em'. Be careful about it though.
>Use magic. Raise some of the bandits.
>Use magic. Lob some offensive spells.
>Screw this milkface. Tell him to charge in so he can get himself killed.

Bandits kill people all the time, so we'll get souls from that. Plus Necrobro seems to want to use souls for his own neferious plans so we'll be deprived.

Varyn makes a gesture and you see the eyes of the five cut down bandits light up with that otherworldly glow. Varyn seems tired after that, not only physically mind you, but mentally now as well. He frowns and speaks to you, 'I'm spent. Had to bring in other souls to the bodies... This is unusual, they couldn't have moved on to an afterlife...'

'Focus partner,' you remind him 'there are still enemies to be cut down, remember?'

'Right...' is his only reply.

The newly made zombies serve to terrify the bandits. They seem just about ready to run.

Now we're talking. Varyn ordrs his minions to attack their former comrades. The bandits are cowed and quickly surrounded. As the zombies charge with their sloppily handled weapons Varyn makes sure to always go in for the kill once they have one of them pinned down. Thus there are 8 dead bandits and you satisfied with gaining more potential.

The two remaining bandits surrender. Varyn makes sure that his minions hold them down before he stabs them.

"Well," he exhales a big breath after it is done, while politely making sure you are clean of blood,"that was quite exhilarating, let's retire for the day and get going on the morrow, shall we?"

You agree without protest, you do have to decide how to spend all that Essence now...

Also further ranks in Hardness/Sharpness costs will increase by doubling the previous one. So if you want to upgrade one of them several times than write in the appropriate number of Essence.
For example you want to get the second and the third ranks to Sharpness so write:
>Sharpness 12

Because first upgrade will cost 4 and doubling that you get 8. 4+8 = 12. There are ten ranks for both of those.
>>

How sharp is sharp? We spent our first kill on one sharpness upgrade- could you give us a quick run down on what we get at various levels?

This one's a little trickier, but conbusting the air might be possible, but we stand a high risk of our own user being raped by iot.

Fire. Yes, the power of Fire. They used to call you the Ifrit back in the day. Well, now at least you can use some of that power, in addition to all other latent Daemonic powers. You use them with the daemon equivalent of Prana - Asuran. It is an alien energy that can only be utilized by Daemons. You feel a red glowing ornament start to appear on your blade, it is small now but will grow once more of your power returns.

>Unlocked: Asuran Pool - Rank 1. Current pool: 10/10
>Unlocked: Fire - Rank 1. This is require in unlocking new abilities. Upgrades will increase lame heat and quantity in respect to Asuran.
>Unlocked: Fire Enhancement - Rank 1. A passive ability, while in combat your blade heats up and makes it easier to cut things apart and makes it even merely touching you painful.
>Unlocked spell: Firebolt - you channel power through your blade and a projectile made of magical fire goes out to strike at an enemy. Cost: 1 Asuran

In the morning Varyn is quite surprised at your sudden changes, but takes it well saying the he can finally see the true Blade of Conquest in action. Varyn raises the rest of the bandits and applies spells to preserve their bodies. His wounds also seemed to be healed, when asked he said that he did have a few spells that could be used to restore the body. You travel along the road for three more days until you reach the a town. Varyn makes sure his servants are well hidden outside of it and goes into a tavern.

It is in here that you see Varyn's contrast with Avitus. While Avitus, asshole that he is, was quite charismatic and loved banging any female he saw remotely as attractive, Varyn seems to sort of clam up near women, embarrassing himself by either stuttering or something. Cherry boy is the appropriate term you think. It's qute amusing to watch him squirm.

He tries to mostly eat his dinner quietly while conversing with you in his mind (he hid you with a piece of cloth, glowing swords aren't too common around these parts). By all means it looked like it was going to be a boring evening, but then a woman with the most stunning white hair and azure eyes, wearing leather armor and equipped with an impressive white wood bow and steel short sword, comes in. Varyn drops his fork and you think his cheeks turn red like a tomato, that mustn't be very healthy.

She seems to survey the room and locks eyes with Varyn. He curses in his mind and wonders if she knows. His kind aren't very welcome around these parts as it seems.

The woman approaches the table and flashes Varyn a bright smile. She asks in quite a lyrical voice, "Could I talk with you?" Varyn gestures for her to take a seat and she continues.

"I'll be blunt here. My name is Serana and I am part of a group of adventurers," Varyn takes a mental sigh at that and both of you listen attentively, "I can see you're a mage through those robes and I'd like to hire you as our party is currently in need of one."

Varyn winces and asks in his thoughts, 'Robes aren't that common for mages, right?'. You send him an impression of a shrug. He debates with you about this and both of you come to a decision.

Varyn opens his mouth to finally speak with the pretty woman:

>"I'm sorry, but I'm just not interested in that sort of venture..."
>"I guess I could use the money..."
>"I guess I could... But you see... There i this thing about my magic..."

Depends, what is our alingment, and if there are any paladins in the party they might try and kill us for being a necromancer. If not we could could always go with them and them betray them, gaining more souls and powerful undead warriors

Which is the entire point of joining their band. We need a better weilder, and certainly one that isn't trying to use the same resource as us.

All I know is Adventurers=Killing=Tasty Souls.

If he dies? A party of adventurers is nearby to take up the sword I guess you could say.
>>
>>31761399
If anything we should search for a powerful enemy once we've levelled up sufficiently, rather than a barely-average adventurer.

>>
>>31761450
We can communicate with them, and by communicate I mean yell at them about how strong we will make them
>>
>>31761450

>>
>>31761431
Stepping stones my friend. If the Necromancer survives we will gain power due to killing things.

If he joins a adventuring group more souls for us.

If he dies while in the adventuring group someone else picks us up and more souls for us.

Really it's a win win situation for us.
>>
>>31761467
I guess we can whisper into their minds.

Yes, plus the necromacer is planning on becoming a lich and we'll be stuck with him forever or he'll go fall paranoid and throw us away like the good king did. We need to be a family sword that gets passed down for real.
>>
>>31761556
We still have some time to corrupt him or develop the ability to corrupt.
Also backstabing is always the best way to get ride of mages
>>
>>31761536
And not just a necromancer but the fucking Lich King.
>>
>>31761556
I don't want to be passed down to a family of pussy paladins or some other gay shit. Stick with the Necromancer.
>>
>>31761585
His soul is probably tasty, too.
>>
>>31761585
We don't need to corrupt him, he's already a necromancer and thus likely very, very evil.
>>
>>31761601
Corrupt in the sense of making him a bloodthirsty Khorne Berserker.
Also not all Necromancers are evil
>>
>>31761601
How do you figure? We've pretty cleanly established that this isn't a world where necromancy is evil.
>>
>>31761601
The guy who ended the last world war was a necro, so I doubt they're inherently evil in this setting.
>>
>>31761591
>Likes Necromancers
>Calls Paladins gay shit
But Necromancers are the definition of pure flamboyant homosexuality. They don't even do their own dirty work, they have skeletons do it for them. That's because they don't want to harm their delicate necromancer hands. Atleast Paladins will actually stab big things, like dragons and ogres. Barbarian or petty warlord who's always fighting is ideal.
>>
>>31761601
In this world, if Mister Eight Son is anything to go by, necromancers are Lawful Good.

>>
>>31761668
Congratulations, you know what a necromancer is!
What is your point?
>>
>>31761732
But usually necromancers just animate a decaying body, these necromancers are forcing people out of their afterlives/preventing people going to be his undead slaves. That's evil.
>>
>>31761668
Or the sould of others considering our necro is using the bodies of the bandits and those guys had their souls eaten.

Then again the Lich King stopped the war that was destroying the world and is using his power to keep the smoke that would block sunlight for CENTURIES into only one place where he is.

Sounds like a good guy to me.
>>
>>31761821
You're assuming
1.pleasant afterlife
2.people not being happy at even the small sliver of experience being undead gives them
3.souls having a consciousness to feel in the first place

And, honestly you're just carrying around a giant amount of baggage from other settings. You know functionally nothing about necromancy here nor how it relates to morality.

Lasers are not better at cutting. They melt or cause combustion, as they turn into heat on impact. Water jet cuts without overheating, it allows a cold cut much more useful in a industry.
In combat, a cold cut would bleed, fire/lasers would cauterize the wound and prevent bleeding to death

"I guess... I could use the money..?" dammit Varyn that wasn't supposed to sound like a question. Serana seems to get a very excited look and her hands shoot to grab one of Varyn's while her face rapidly approaches his. She tops ust an inch apart from him and she made most of the attendants at the tavern at least throw an amused glance at you.

Varyn is screaming in his mind "Too close, too close, too close!" and gets red like a tomato while getting a troubled look on his face. The archer with no concept of personal space doesn't seem to notice his plight however.

"You really will? Do you promise me?" the woman, no, girl is starting to look less and less mature by the second. Varyn only nods his head quickly mumbling an 'I promise' before asking where are the others.

"Come with me then! I'm sure you'll get along with them just fine!" she holds Varyn's hand and pulls him out of his seat. He barely has time to grab his stuff and you before he's pulled to the exit. All of his protests to slow down are simply ignored. The girl has a surprising amount of strength. Once you exit the tavern, Varyn having to throw the payment for his meal at the owner, Serana let's go of Varyn's hand and looks at him while walking forwards quickly, "C'mon! The others are jus- blegh!" and trips over a loose piece of dirt. You though archers were supposed to be graceful and all that?

Serana gets up and rubs her head where she probably hit it, "Ow, ow..." She looks at Varyn with teary eyes, this girl... He gives her a hand to help her up, she sniffles and accepts it while saying thanks. This girl she's really-
"Where could that ditz be? We've been looking for her for an hour already!" says a soft male voice and you can hear a mix of other voices answering it, "Oh! There they are! Let's go!" her mood seems to smile upwards again after she hears the voices.

You all run to the next to the street and you can see a male who has raven black hair and crimson eyes looking at you...

"Serana! There you are! Where did your un of to this time?" asks the man who is wearing leather armor like Serana and seems to be wielding two strange looking swords on his back. "Mary and the others were getting worried you'd got yourself in trouble again."

Serana pouts at him while walking, "I can take care of myself, thank you very mu- blegh!" 'Okay, seriously how the hell could she trip like that a second time?' both you and Varyn wonder. The man seems to agree with you by putting a hand to his face and sighing while shaking his head.

"Why do I have such a ditz of a sister?" he asks no one particularly. He helps her up, "There, there don't cry," he reassures her.

"I'm not a baby, brother..." she sniffles some more.

Denarius just sighs and says "Look, if you cheer up I'll let you be the scout for WHOLE mission, okay?" she immediately does and nods vigorously. That's when Denarius looks at you and says, "Sorry you had to watch that and also that you had to deal with my sister, you are?"

"Varyn, your sister said you needed services from a mage and I was available," he says while sticking out an arm to shake.

"Ah, so my sister finally found her 'mysterious robed guy', I really didn't think that mages adhered to the stereotype of robes though..." the

You have to remain in the shape of a sword unfortunately. The major transformation is for a complete change of what type of sword. There will be an option to shift into another weapon later on though.
>>
>>31757546
I noticed that there has been revision since last thread on those, because people made arguments about feasability.

I propose that being a DEMON sword we can magically compensate for the increase in our size in a magical manner which does not negatively affect the wielder. As in, he still feels like he is wielding a dagger, but now we are much more deadly.

The group up ahead seems to consist of a red haired beauty with curled hair, wearing a heavy set of steel plate armor with a sword and shield, a stocky and rather short individual with one of the mightiest beards you've ever seen, wearing heavy armor as well as wielding a battle axe and a tall and broad ferocious looking fellow, wearing a bear skin draped over his head and shoulders and various other skins.

Varyn explains that the shorter fellow is a dwarf, they were designed to have an instinctual knowledge of smithing and engineering as well as having a heavy resilience to magic and long lives. Their berserkers are said to be a nightmare to face. While the fellow drabbed in fur cloaks is most likely a shaman, something like a diabolist but summoning the spirits of nature and all that instead of daemons like you, they use Creation Prana for many of their feats though. They are also said to be able to turn into half-man, half-beast killing machines...

You all meet up and learn their names. Marriane or Mary as she prefers being called is the redhead warrior, Grunwald is the name of the dwarven berserker and Red Tooth for the druid.

You would get to know them better but you need to set off immediately. They spare Varyn a horse and you all go on the open road.
"So where are we going?" asks Varyn as they move along.

"We're mainly trying to find the tomb of Avitus the Conqueror, like any proper adventuring party, but right now we're going to clear out some bandits and collect the bounty from the next town. Then we are going on a real adventure..." says Mary, who seems to be the leader of the group.

"Yeah! We're going to go take the test of Voltumna!" cheers Serana.

...It seems you are going to meet one of the ancient Wyrms once again...

>We're mainly trying to find the tomb of Avitus the Conqueror, like any proper adventuring party
>but right now we're going to clear out some bandits
we already did both of these things...

You can talk to others now.

I suggest we stick to just using whispers, be subtle about it and not just go, "Sup guys, I am a demon sword."
>>
>>31768833

>Sup guys, I am a demon sword.

>>
>>31769652
>Sup guys I am a magic sword, which is in no way shape or form demonic.
