You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

Today’s the day for practicing with your tanks. You can hardly wait, especially after how busy yesterday was. Today’s a day of just resting and relaxing at least, getting your tanks done.

Then again, if you remember correctly, Wendy’s still your designated instructor. That might not be fun at all.

You pack your Tankery Uniform in short order after a nice hot shower and a good hearty breakfast. Then your ears perk up. You look out the balcony window and oh fuck it’s raining. You check the weather forecast on your phone.

YEP, NOTHING BUT RAIN THROUGH THE DAY. Nice. You blink, something on the School Alert bulletin.

“Due to extraneous circumstances, Shore Leave for Australia has been cancelled by order of Senior Class President Lilah Fredendall. We apologize for this inconvenience.”

… Fuck. Well, there goes your good mood. Regardless, it’s time to head to school. You look in the mirror.

Hm… Your hair’s actually gotten a bit longer. Now it’s reaching past your shoulders. Maybe it’s time for a haircut. Or maybe time to style it into something new.

Which variant?

>Jagdpanzer IV 0-Serie
with 7.5 cm Pak 39 L/43: a small number of these were built as the preproduction (0-Serie) probably in December 1943.[1]
Jagdpanzer IV (Sd.Kfz.162[1])
with 7.5 cm Pak 39 L/48, official name Sturmgeschütz neuer Art mit 7.5 cm Pak L/48 auf Fahrgestell PzKpfw IV, with 769–784 produced in January 1944 - November 1944.[1]
Panzer IV/70 (V) (Sd.Kfz.162/1[1])
was one of two variants armed with the same Pak 42 L/70 gun. The (V) stands for the designer, Vomag. The most produced version, with 930–940 built in August 1944 - April 1945.[1]
Panzer IV/70 (A) (Sd.Kfz.162/1[1])
the other Pak 42 L/70 armed Jagdpanzer IV. In order to send Pak 42 L/70 armed vehicles to the front as soon as possible, in July 1944 Hitler ordered an interim solution to speed up Nibelungenwerke's transition from Panzer IV production to Panzer IV/70 production. "A" stands for Alkett, a manufacturer of the StuG III, that was ordered to redesign the Jagdpanzer IV superstructure to be mounted onto a standard Panzer IV chassis. The Vomag design used a modified chassis permitting a very low silhouette, mounting the superstructure onto the original Panzer IV chassis required additional vertical steel plates mounted onto the chassis to counter height differences. The resulting vehicle was about 40 cm taller and lacked the sharp edged nose of the Vomag variant.

> Twintails

You grab a pair of hair tries and split your hair into neat little twin tails. They sag behind your shoulders, flowing nicely thanks to the fact that unlike most nerds, you actually take care of your hair. But regardless, time to go.

You open up the door and meet your staff plus Kitten, all of bearing umbrellas and coats for the weather. “Morning girls. Lovely weather, huh?”

“I hope this doesn’t cancel practice,” says Nancy, concernedly.

“We’ll see,” you say. “Not like a little rain ever killed anyone.

“Of course,” says Kitten. “Let’s get to school, yeah?”

With that, you head out into the misty rain and on towards school.

You swish your hair like in one of Kitten’s animes. “No comments on my hair?”

Kitten says, “I think it looks good on you! Makes you look like a little kid though.”

“Yeah,” says Lisa. “Still, looks cute.” She plays with her own hair a little, a bit of fluffy elbow length blonde hair. “I was thinking of doing twin tails myself. See if it worked on me.”

“You should,” you say. “Speaking of which, you help the Poles with that thing?”

Lisa shrugs. “Maaaaybe. Let’s just say that I did, and it went swimmingly!”

Nancy asks, “What are you talking about?”

“Nothing,” you both say.

You arrive at the school, people are floundering about and standing around, muttering under their breaths. People are not too happy that Shore Leave got cancelled. That means you all have to wait for Thanksgiving Break at the very least. You sigh as soon as people catch notice of you. They whisper and murmur things.

You would have infinitely preferred being a total bully over being everyone’s sex fantasy.

You yawn a bit as you take a walk around campus. Even despite it raining, there’s nothing wrong with a nice little walk around the courtyard and-

“G-g-give it- Return it!” You look over to see Loretta Niven, short as she is, struggle to reclaim a batch of papers from Hall Monitors Pinkerton and O’Bannon. They look at the papers with incredible confusion and disgust.

“Hey,” you say as you walk over. “Give those back to her.” Pinkerton quietly hands the papers to you. “What?” You read through some of them as Niven squeals in embarrassment, blushing intensely.

“Why does this even exist in paper format, Niven?” you ask. “We have USBs and the internet for a reason.”

Niven groans. “I-I… I was just… I was…”

“Relax,” you say. “Deep breath.”

Niven says, “Well. The uh… Writing Club-“

“I thought you were part of the Reading Club?” asks Pinkerton.

“We don’t really know anymore,” she says quickly. “It was… a writing exercise… and I heard you and Fairless were-“

“Say no more,” you say. “First off, I’m not dating Fairless, secondly this is kind of… wrong. Please don’t ever do this again.” You hand it back to her.

Niven nods, quickly stuffing it into her bag. She says, “Sorry,” then walks away, head held low.

Pinkerton says to you, “Boy. We don’t even have to fuck you with anymore. We actually kind of feel sorry for you.”

You give them the finger, “Fuck off.”

O’Bannon holds her hands up in defense. “Don’t shoot the messenger, yearra. I’m actually kind of surprised you and Fairless ain’t shagging like fecking horny dogs but I suppose that’s a given.”

With that, Pinkerton and O’Bannon walk away. You check the time. Time to get to class. For Math and English, it’s mostly just review stuff, good stuff. You’re going to need to make some time for studying though if you want to keep up on your grades. Chemistry class is now even harder which you can’t even comprehend. You never liked Chemistry anyway.

“… Really?” asks Lisa.

“It’s the creepiest thing,” you say. “I mean, I don’t blame her, honestly. Fairless is pretty hot, but with me? Christ.”

Nancy chuckles. “Oh, writers will write what wills.”

“Hell of a tongue twister, Nancy,” you say as your grab your lunch. Just a nice bit of fried chicken, some fries, and strawberries. You notice again that Lisa has gotten chocolate milk. You hate chocolate milk. You can’t understand why people get it. “Lisa, why do you get chocolate milk?”

Lisa sucks the milk up through a straw, looking at you. She says, “Because it tastes good.”

“But isn’t that unhealthy?”

“Isn’t Tankery unhealthy?”

“Point,” you say. “Still, why? Why not drink regular milk?”

Lisa wags her finger, still sucking the milk up through her straw. She pulls the straw out of the carton, letting it hang between her lips as she says, “JFK once said that we do things not because they are easy, but because they are hard. I like Chocolate milk not because it’s healthy but because it is good.”

Hm. Sound logic.

None of the present choices look all that appealing. Since we need more crews to fill the tanks we already have, then, it might make more sense to focus on recruitment and improving the tanks we do have available. Mods and upgrades of existing units include:

StuG III Ausf F/8: 14,500
T-34/57 Model 1941: 23,500
Panzer IV Ausf. G: 6,000
Sturmpanzer IV Series Two: 5,000
M4A4 Sherman VC Firefly: 12,000
M36B1 Jackson: 16,000
Panther Ausf G.: 22,000

Getting the Panther up and running would be the biggest contribution to our line, but we don't have a crew for it. Improving the T/34 and bringing the Shermans to their respect end-states as a Firefly and Jackson would probably be the biggest improvement to existing units. On the other hand, the Panzer IV Ausf. G and Sturmpanzer IV Series II are pretty cheap.

You snap your fingers. “So, did everyone move up?”

“Yeah,” says Lisa. “I was taking a look at the brackets last night. We, Pravda, Nick Tesla, Ooarai, Konigsberg, Kursk, Anzio, and Saint Gloriana are in the round of eight. We’re going to be facing Pravda.”

“How do they look?” you ask Nancy.

“Pravda’s a team of Russians and Japanese. It’s a joint school effort between the two countries. They’re quite a skilled team, very elite in the Japanese Leagues.”

You nod. “Alright, simple enough. Russian tanks then. Who are we going to face after them?”

“It’s a toss up between Anzio and Konigsberg. I haven’t studied the latter yet,” says Lisa. “But Anzio… if they win, we’ll probably curb stomp them. Their tanks aren’t really all that great.”

“Of course,” you say. “I figure our versatile little set up oughta win us a few battles all the way to the finals. Who might we face there?”

“The favorites are Ooarai and Kursk,” says Nancy. “Could be either one.”

You nod. “Alright then. Well, Miho’s probably got her match with Tesla locked up. It’ll be a real toss up though between her and Kursk. How many tanks are we bringing for the round after Pravda?”

“Twenty,” says Lisa.

Twenty. Jeez. You have trouble keeping track of fifteen, you had trouble keeping track of TEN crews. Twenty is probably going to end up a nightmare. At least the crews are autonomous, sort of.

Nicole whispers. “Halo: CE. It’s on the school network. You can join if you want to.”

You look around. Everyone else is playing Halo. You can even spot the TA playing it. The Professor doesn’t even seem to notice this.

Bradbury whispers, “Who’s using the pistol, that’s the lamest shit.”

“It’s Gertrude,” says one of the girls. “She’s camping the ridge.”

“It’s a legitimate strategy,” you say quietly as the Professor lectures.

Suddenly, you get blasted in the face by a sniper rifle. You look over at Niven, who shyly waves at you, smoking sniper rifle on her interface.

Of course.

The rest of the day goes by relatively well. History, French, and Theatre don’t really have much of anything to learn or do. At least you can say that you’re somewhat good at French. That’ll be helpful for the Japanese, Italians, and Germans you’re likely to face.

I¨m thinking of something like organizing a 'pretend X stinks day' or whatever over Facebook, X isn't on Facebook (or doesn't have access to the page) and has no friends willing to tell them about it, goes through whole day feeling like shit as people recoil from them, make fun of them, etc.

“Hey, Nancy, Lisa, Ramirez.”

Nancy says, “We still on for practice?”

“Eh, a little rain never hurt nobody,” you say.

“What about Tara?” asks Ramirez.

“That’s different,” you say.

“Irregardless,” says Nancy. “I look forward to practice. Apparently we recently bought a Chaffee and a Cromwell tank?”

“Yeah,” you say. “I hear they’re pretty decent. Plus, with the next few rounds coming up to twenty tanks, we need more coming up. Plus crews, I don’t imagine you guys know anyone with nothing better to do?”

Lisa shrugs. “If we did, they probably would be here by now kicking and screaming. I’m actually surprised that no one joins Tankery just to get closer to you.”

“Yeah, I’m surprised by that too,” you say. “Strange.”

With that, you arrive at the Tankery HQ. You all head into the hangar where all of your crews, including Kitten, are hanging around.

“Here, Anna,” you hand the Sewing Club your copy of Achtung, Panzer! “Give it a read, see if it grows on you.”

“Oooh,” says Anna. “Tanks. Thanks, Gertrude.” She smiles, holding the book close. “I’ll give it my best read!”

You nod, then walk over to the Rifle Team and the Polish. “Hey girls. Anything new with you all?”

Samantha says, “Nah. The soccer moms have been pretty quiet. And as for Janek here, she tells me about her exploits on raiding a certain drawer.”

Janek laughs, placing her hand on her chest. “I personally stole Carla Gustav’s sexy underwear as my own in retaliation! I’m wearing them now in fact!” She grabs her skirt. “Want to see-“

“No,” you and Samantha say.

Wendy claps her hands. “Alright, Ramblers. Let’s get rambling.”

All of you sit down in the now somewhat crowded classroom. Wendy lectures at the front. “Alright, so we’ve reviewed armor sloping, armor thickness, armor everything! It’s the most important part of your tank next to the gun and the engine and suspension!”

Maya raises her hand, “How come you get the tank that’s the most well protected? I don’t think I’ve ever seen the King Tiger knocked out before.” Everyone agrees. “It’s kind of unfair, don’t you think?”

Wendy says, “Unfortunately, neither is Tankery sometimes. Sometimes, you just get the short end of the stick when it comes to tanks and lady luck. I wouldn’t be surprised if our luck runs out some day.”

Cathy raises her hand. “So I checked the brackets yesterday. Apparently we’re facing Pravda in the next match.”

“Pravda High School, yeah,” says Wendy. She starts drawing on the whiteboard the various silhouettes of the T-34, the IS tanks, the KVs, and other Russian tanks. “They’re joint Russo-Japanese which means Russian tanks for the most part, Japanese crew. Very good mix. T-34s especially are impervious to 37mm guns. There’s also things like the IS Tank which, despite their reputation, aren’t all that great in tank combat.”

Anna raises her hand. “Why aren’t IS tanks great at tank fighting?”

“It’s not the IS-1’s issue, it’s more or less the IS-2 and the IS-3. Their guns are great at smashing forts and defenses, but it’s a slow rate of fire. In fact, if we analyze their match with Ooarai in the Nationals. The thing that saved that I-Go from a complete knock out was the fact that the HE shell didn’t manage to knock it out. Splashed in front of it, knocked a track off, didn’t kill the engine or any of the crew.” She starts with, “Let’s work on how to fight Russian tanks in general though.

“Now, the same principal may apply if we’re fighting Kursk in the finals. Ambushes are easy to lay, but they’re harder to pull off. For Kursk, they have the excuse of having the patience of a saint in order to pull off ambushes planned years in advances but as Pravda, their ambushes are more bait and trap.”

Nancy raises her hand. “So, is Pravda a well-coordinated team?”

“Very,” says Wendy. “However, luckily for us, most of their experienced seniors graduated last year, which means they’re stuck with mostly freshmen and some slightly experienced crews from the Nationals. That means we still have a good chance in a straight fight against them.”

Janek says, “What can we expect from their composition?”

“Medium tanks, a support from heavier tanks, standard stuff. Hasn’t failed them too many times, nor does it really ever fail at all. T-34s in particular are especially versatile at scouting, fighting, holding, etcetera. For things like the KV-2, that’s a little more… eh. Unless there’s a chokepoint, the KV-2 probably won’t be anything to worry about.”

Wendy continues the lecture on Pravda’s force. It seems relatively in depth, and goes into detail about the inner workings of the T-34, the KV series, the IS series, and beyond.

Wendy yells, “No pain, no gain! Keep moving!”

Tex Avery of the Animation Team pulls her hair back then quickly vomits as she runs. The other girls are square out of breath as Wendy keeps pushing them on and on.

“Come on, go go go!” yells Wendy. Remains right at the front of the column of girls, keeping up with them every step of the way.

Kitten says, “This is murder!”

“I don’t care!” Wendy pauses, running in place as everyone runs by. “We’ll be fast and efficient if it takes all summer! Let’s go!”

You yawn a little, sitting on top of Cupid. All the girls are busy wiping mud and dirt off their exposed skin. You yourself have to contend with some very badly soaked knee highs. There’s a very sloppy noise as you pull the black knee high’s off your legs, letting your toes wiggle free, damp.

Kitten says, “This sucks.”

You say, “I know it does, pray it doesn’t happen too much though. Could be worse, it could be snowing.”

Nancy, who sits in the commander’s hatch, says, “Still. I’m exhausted!”

Ramirez and Lisa take naps on the engine block, leaning against the turret. Lisa has her head resting against Ramirez’s shoulder. 2cute.

“Hey, Weiss.” You motion the Magicians over and gesture to the Fresh and shiny M4A4. “Here’s your new tank. Like it?”

The Magicians all gasp in awe of it. “Wow!” says Weisss. “It’s beautiful!” She snaps her finger. “I bet we can make loads of dosh using this in a stage show!”

You nod. “Of course. Try not to break it.”

With that, you head back into the field and start up gunnery practice. Due to the rain, the sights are a bit muddled. Not helped by the fact that the Sturmpanzer IV actually threw a track trying to traverse the muddy terrain. The engineers fixed the issue quickly though and soon, you’re practicing the standard 500 meter range target.

“Fire when ready, Nancy!” you say.

The 76mm fires, the shoot zooming across the rain and impacting the target. “Nice work,” you say.

Nancy claps. “Yay! I hit it!”

“Ramirez, HVAP, let’s see how we do it.” Ramirez pulls up an HVAP from the ready rack and slams it into the breech. “Go for the closer one, Nancy.”

The guns continue on firing. The Magicians are actually having some trouble with overshooting, but it seems like everyone else is getting into the groove of things.

The Sturmpanzer IV, again, sinks right into the mud. It seems like no matter what, the weight is probably going to be a slight issue with it.

Your Sherman and the Churchill are busy dragging it along out of the mud. You stand at the side along with Dory and Kitten.

Dory says, “Slade keeps overcooking the damn thing when I tell her not to. It’s getting annoying with her.”

Mud slings out of the tracks the Sturmpanzer IV wills itself out of the mud. “Alright!” yells Jane as she sticks her head out of the commander’s hatch. “We’re out, let’s get moving!”

The rest of Maneuvering practice is characterized by the slowness of your tanks, them getting bogged into the mud. It’s not as bad with your lighter tanks or even your Sherman, but it’s clear that there’s some trouble. Could always be worse though, you probably wouldn’t have invested so heavily in grousers for instance.

Finally, practice is over. “Good work everyone,” says Wendy.

All your crews stand, covered in mud, grease, and grime. They groan heavily as they disperse.

You sigh in bliss as Kitten scrubs you down in the showers. You needed a hot bout of water to refresh you and this is doing the job just right. Kitten washes at your hips as you say, “So, Kitten, feel stronger? More virile?”

Kitten says, “No. I feel terrible.”

“Well, so do I, but all in the name of becoming better tanks!” you say. Your arch your back, rubbing some grease off of your arm.

“Yeah, yeah,” says Kitten. “Speaking of which, I heard the rumors-“

“Me and Bernadette are not dating, Kitten,” you say. “I wouldn’t know how to date if it went up and smacked me in the head anyway.”

“Alright, that’s good,” says Kitten. You nod at that.

You say, “Why is that good?”

Kitten coughs. “Just saying, it’d… be pretty awkward. I shouldn’t have said that.”

“Relax,” you say, chuckling. “I’m teasing you! What I’d like to see is you and Bernadette. Now that’d be the cutest thing since strawberries on cupcakes.”

“What is it with you and these analogies, you’re not even that southern anyway,” says Kitten.

“Virginia is part of the south, Kitten, remember it,” you say.

With that out of the way, your shower is done. You rest up on the sofa next to Kitten, with all of your crews goofing off. The Polish in particular are sticking to a game of ping pong with the magicians.

You can't just list an all-caps option and expect the players not to pick it. It just ain't done.
>>
>>31738731
If you think we can, sure. We haven't had much luck looking for specific tanks in the past, though.

I'm most worried that putting it off like this will only be an excuse to never switch them out because myself and a few other Anons pissed off the crowd that wants to keep the Somua.

I'll relent now and only speak up if somebody else brings up the topic.

You speculate and speculate on where it could be on campus as you walk there.

Bottom of it.

Footing.

Balance of power.

You scratch your chin as all of you arrive at the campus courtyard. WHAT COULD IT MEAN? You look around, there’s the statue of the Marquis de La Fayette. There’s the many buildings around it, and there’s all kinds of distracting elements. That book could be anywhere! Fucking hell!

Nancy says, “Maybe it’s at the base of the statue of the Marquis de La Fayette.”

That’s ridiculous.

GS said we can but keep bringing it up will only go against you, like that one anon who kept bringing up the IS2

For me, I honestly want to keep the Somua but if we have to switch them to another tank so be it.

But it's not necessary now. Also I'm more concerned for the Junior council which is also a 3-man team.

However, if we go for a Valentine or Jadpanzer that may solve the issue in itself.

The Valentine tank can sport a 6-pounder gun like the Churchill with only a three man crew and if want to go the extra mile, upgrade it to a Archer tank which sports a 17 pounder gun and is a 4 man crewed tank.

Perfect for any three man team.

>>
> “… ridiculous enough, let’s check it.”

You all search around the base of the statue, muttering some apologies to the good Marquis. All around is nothing but grass, dirt, granite, marble, etc.

Lisa says, “This is hopeless. Unless they fucking hid the thing UNDER the statue, it’s not here.”

“Yeah,” says Nancy. “I’ll admit, that was a bit of a stretch.”

You say, “Well, it’s ridiculous enough to work. Keep looking.”

Kitten stands at the top of the base, looking around the Marquis’ legs. “I don’t see anything up here.” She looks down at you. “Maybe it really isn’t here.”

“Of course,” you say. You look over at the commemorative plate at the face of the base. A screw is missing. “Ramirez, give me a quarter will you?” Ramirez hands you a quarter out of her pocket, and you quickly unscrew the plate off.

Inside the base of the statue is indeed a compendium.

Nancy smiles. “Wow! I didn’t think that would work!”

You grab it, dusting it off. It’s huge, three hundred pages of sheer lore. Charlotte would have a field day with this.

I initially thought it would involve Alien Zombies crashing in a hidden Ninja Village in Japan with the aliens assimilating the ancient ninja arts to spread the zombie outbreak from the shadows.

The only hope for humanity is to use the school ships as bases (basically, become pirates) wherein they'll use drones to saturate infected areas with the cure or napalm, if the area is too infected (basically, robots making things go boom).

Not the other guy, but the Valentine wasn't a good tank and neither was the Archer.

The Valentine was slow and poorly armoured. Though the XI had a 210hp engine over the original 135, I can't find any indication that it was any more mobile then the Archer formations it was later deployed with.

Speaking of, the Archer is basically a worse StuG, excelling in immobile ambushes and sporting a worse traverse. It couldn't handle off road driving worth a damn.

Janek says, “That is Compendium that we need you to decipher for us, can you do it?”

“Uh… why?” asks Charlotte.

>For a three man crew, I think it is one of the better tanks.
>should be considered considering a tank of it's crew size
No 3 man crewed tank could compare to late war vehicles, that's why they were phased out. There's no reason to buy one when our crews can operate any tank undermanned by 1 without a problem.

>Especially the Mark XII which is equipped with a 17 pounder gun
The Valentine XI, and it was armed with an OQF 75mm. It's considerably worse then the 17PDR for fighting armor.

>has 210hp engine
I know, but I can't find anything saying it was much faster then the Valentine I. I'm sure it was, but the XI was deployed as a command vehicle with Archers. Why would it be significantly faster then those?

>and poorly armored?
Ya. Originally it was thickest at 60mm which is pretty whimpy. As far as I can tell it was never uparmored.

The Valentine still served with distinction by the end of the war though as a three man crew tank.

Regardless, you spend some time studying while Charlotte helps put things in an understandable format for the Poles. Nothing too special.

“… and that’s pretty much the gist of it,” she says as she writes things down for them on a notebook.

“Cool,” says George. “Thanks for that, Charlotte.”

“Oh, don’t thank me,” she says. “This is actually a pretty wellbuilt lore. I’m actually pretty interested in it myself.”

“Well, Model UN’s always open!” says Janek.

“Pffft.” Charlotte leans back against her desk, shaking the 40k and anime figurines on it. “As if I do that nerd shit. No thanks.”

Janek and friends shrug at that. “Suit yourself.” They pack their things. “Anyway, we’ll be heading off, thanks, Gertrude.”

You nod. “Sure.”

Charlotte says, “Really?”

You, Kitten, Nancy, Lisa, and Ramirez pout at her FULL BLAST.

“Oh fine,” says Charlotte. “Get me the super glue.”

With that, you break open the box and start separating the parts from the sprues. Time to get assembling!

You hold up the turret. “Alright, I got the gun in!”

Charlotte, who’s busy getting the tracks together while Nancy and Lisa work on the hull, says, “The gun’s in upside down.”

“Huh?” you say.

Nancy nods. “Yeah, it’s upside down.”

There's no point, though. Any crew can handle a tank that needs one more crewman, and any 3 man tank is worse then the T-34. The crew problem is lessened or handled completely with Octavia.

>I didn't say the XI, I said the XII
You're mistaken, we're talking about the same tank. I've taken my time to check. There never was or even planned to be a Valentine XII.

There also never was a Valentine with a 17PDR; the Archer was a project to mount one on that hull. Why do you think they bothered at all if they could fit it in a turret?

All of this is on Wikipedia, even. I invite you to read it closely.

>I heard they up the armor to 65mm.
That's really hardly a difference. Just compare it to the armor on the tanks we already own. Anything scarier then a 37mm can penetrate that.

Also, sorry it took me so long to respond. Technical troubles ate my post.

Kitten says, “What about the tracks?”

“I’ll handle the tracks,” she says. “Just work on the suspension.”

With that, Charlotte guides you all on the process of building the Sherman effectively and neatly. By the end coming onto two hours, you’ve got a neat little model Sherman. It’s paint is fresh and is busy drying on Charlotte’s desk. All of you sigh in relief at the finality of it all, finally being finished. “It looks good, don’t it?” says Kitten.

The XI was the one equipped with the QF75

Their was a Mark XII but few were made.

Still better then 60mm and we can add applique armor.

The fuck is this? The famous 17PDR measured 3 inches, or roughly 76mm. Again, can't find mention of a 17pdr on a Valentine, not even a 75mm called a 17pdr.

>>31745062

>>
>>31745351

In regards to Pravda. Should be a cake walk so long as you don't get baited. Most of our tanks can kick the shit out of T-34s, KV-2s, and IS-2s.
>>
>>31745724
We can also do that stupid thing with the 35(T) with our Somua.

Should be a laugh.

So same plan as Chi-Ha-Tan?
>>
>>31745853
Pretty much. Unless we finally get a field that doesn't have choke points. At least then some strategy can be put in, rather than just "hold the bridge/gulley/tunnel"
>>
>>31745918
Hey those are effective plans. However just as our tanks can easily deal with theirs, their 85mm and to some extent their 76.2mm guns are effective.

Also do you know which is more effective cast vs wielded armor?

I've been trying to find which variant of the Sherman is better
>>
>>31746030
If you're looking at the M4A1 and M4A3 thing, cast armor is more effective as there are less corners and welds that can break, the V8 is better, the reason welded armor was used was because it was easier to produce.

So speed vs protection?

I heard the with the increase engine power, they were able to put more armor so that balances it out right?

Which you think is better?

I suppose you could do what they did infield and add steel plates to the hull and turret.
I'd probably go for the M4A3 just because it can go faster.

Isn't that what Applique armor is for?
>>
>>31746276
I didn't want to just say Applique because it could mean any number of things Tankers added; Track links, Concrete, steel plates, Sandbags

We should ask GS that next time, I want the M4A3 as our command tank but with all the other upgrades and purchases we need to do, it is rather low fruit

Yeah. Probably be better if you got more tanks rather than adding minor upgrades to the current line up.

We already bought the Chaffee and Cromwell. and we have that blasted panther chassis. we should be fine

Does it really matter? it's just an abstraction, it could be any number of things.

It's a fairly simple, binary "yes or no," sort of situation there. Picture it in your head however you want, it all does the same thing.
