Shut up, both of you assholes. We need to do more studies on the subject. For instance, if contacting or animating the dead involves dragging the souls back from the afterlife and trapping them for any length of time, both are wrong.

If it doesn't interfere with the soul, then we need to establish all sorts of legal systems to handle it. Body donor cards handed out to people who are okay with their leavings being repurposed, along with the option of DNC forms (Dead, No Contact) to fill out so that people can't use Speak Dead on you without permission. Privacy concerns are just as important as property rights.
>>

You SEE what happens?
>durrr it's not a slippery slope

>>
>>31699136
The Federal Mageocracy does not approve of it, however, which means they could, at any time, swoop in and start dropping Paladicks onto graveyards and Necropolises.
>>
>>31699110

There have been studies, clinical trials, and meta-analysis. Necromancy isn't any more dangerous than drinking or smoking tobacco and yet those are both legal. I am not saying it should be unregulated but we should rethink our policies.
>>
>>31699171
The Feds can kiss my ass. Getting a magic license now is harder than than getting a gun.

What kind of democracy are we living in when the government is restricting our natural rights to use magic?

Also, Necromancy is legal in Afghanistan last time I checked.
>>
Next we elect an undead president, Nixon's return anyone or perhaps Abraham Lincoln?
>>
>>31698624
Making golems is far worse than animating the dead, and that's legal! Skeletons and zombies are made from natural ingredients like Dead People and Obsidian. Sure the Negative Energy is bad for you over time, but it's probably healthier than all that chemical laden cigarette smoke.

Making golems requires the ENSLAVEMENT of sapient beings! Extraplanar ones at that.
>>
>>31698624
Necromancy and the Drug War are nothing but a ill seated attempt by the govt to keep the Green Man down.
>>
Honestly, the weirdest fucking thing about the Necromancy debate is that it so often involves the assumption that harvesting of bones would always involve humans. Most of the animals we eat have bones. We've got a gajillion bones we just throw away.

Most undead aren't intelligent, so I seriously doubt anyone wants to be a glorified battery for a CR 1 skeleton.

As far as using undead as cars? See the post you responded to for procedures. If the body is empty, and property rights have been observed, then sure, why the fuck not?
>>

This sort of shit is why the Federal Mageocracy needs to either step up and enforce its own pelordamned laws or just legalize it so that we can actually have some sane laws. States are not equipped to handle policy for an issue this important. It needs to be handled on a federal level!
>>

Just because poor areas have a higher rate of Necromancy doesn't mean it's the source of violent crimes. People that grow up in lower income neighborhoods are just more likely to be using it because it's a viable way to make cash in order to escape those areas. Viable because its illegality has inflated the value of animate dead!
>>
Negative energy has never been proven to cause any long term effects. The real danger is the short term effects of extremely high buildups but that can easily be fixed with simple clerical purification rituals.

If all of the anti negative energy lobbyists did some actual positive energy channeling it'd never be a problem again; which is just more proof that the left wing are a bunch of lazy degenerates.

Instead of outlawing the undead the government should outlaw bardic magic. It's disgusting I tell you!

Y'all know what? (And this is a Finnish shaman talking)

We don't have dumb paladins here, the schools are good, use of dark magic is low. Altough dark tomes ate being smuggled increasingly (But the pay's good) But necromancy is quite low. What really is worrying that statistically every third person you walk into has a enchanted firearm.
Which are illegal. (But bringing them in from Russia is easy, and the pay is good.)

Anyway. The dead really don't mind their bodies being borrowed. As long as I return them back to rest every now and then, and that's what I do. But the bodies have dark tomes and or enchanted firearms in them. But they don't mind.

Seriously you can stick so much stuff into a dead guy. Add a bit of make up and deoderant. And tadaa. Foolproof.

Anyway I chill with the dead. Ancestors and shit. And there's no dark energies releasing from it. As we been doing it fo centuries.

This whole thread got my brain thinking of an alternate world setting for a game where you live in just regular earth, but there happens to be magic, probably low level, starting around the 1920's. We need a timeline though.

1924-Magic proven real, stage man bends shadows/casts minor illusions
1928- After extensive study magic determined to be able to be property of alien microorganism, deemed worthy of further study, Patient Zero and several scientists are isolated, along with many who exhibited slight shadow twinges after his show.
1937- Microorganism deemed harmless, but highly spreadable. Patients released. NOTICE: Some patients exhibited no "magic" after exposure, possible immune?

Hmmm... More?

Hmm, so Hyper stimulants that allow you to alter the world around you, and that have very serious consequences, for you and your lineage, regardless of gender. I really do like the idea it originates with alien bacteria though, so how about the original bacteria has only mild illusion magic, where as the hyper stimulants create other effects based on injecting/combining the virus with sertain stimulants. Like say Pyromancy or Telekinesis came about via Nicotine or another mental stimulant?

Pyromancing is how America became the half decent country that it is and it would be nice just to give it some respect. Necromancers are just afraid of getting their slave armies burned the fuck up.

Good, good.
How about this:
Magic is caused by combining effects on the mind with some sort of particle stuff, that can be easily extracted from anything. Magicians can only do magic when they're in an altered state, effectively forcing them to take drugs or not cast at all.
Different drugs allow the magicians to cast different spells.

That's because people haven't taken Jesus into their hearts yet. Let the sinners suffer I say, that'll teach them!

Sounds like Commie speak to me. Pyromancy may not have been great, but it brought us together. What's billy doing? Sitting away, wasting away his life.

Privileged? Whacha? Hoocha? Wha-wa? Son, Let me tell you. I had to walk through the snow and go up hill both ways just to even conduct pyromancy with my friends. Your generation is the privileged generation with yer Hydromancy, geomancy, electromancy and the sorts. Now you want to lock yerself in a room and talk to a skellington all day?

I really don't know what to do about little billy, but maybe necromancy isn't that bad after all.

When I was a young'n, I heard about the ol' Hickory takedown. Which of the guys are ya? And Pucket was my mentor, good guy. And I know how ya mean man. We're in the business of retir'n early. Just make sure that when ya get hitched, she ain't crazy, ya hear? Buddy o' mine had to lose his goddamned magic license just to get visitation of his kid, and that's messed up. I wanna raise a youngin' of my own one day tho', but I still have a good decade or two in me still before it's time.

But if he was? What would happen?

Man pyromance is A grafe shit. I rock pyro, necro, hydro and electromancy.
And read dark tomes and summon demons. Because demons resemble /tg/ the most. They get shit done.

Yeah sure, people can animate golems using elementals or life essence, if they don't want to take the time to do the holy rituals that they are supposed to use.
