LAST EPISODE: You discussed Sato's previous employment history and went out for the evening.
- - - -

You and the other three are standing in front of the small, long abandoned, noh theater. This is where the Gentleman's Club will be having tonight's meeting.

Akira comes back around. "Okay, so there's no back way into this place. I think. Unless the back of a pachinko parlor opens to this place. Even then, there's no alley access." He nods at the door. It has one of those yellow roped padlocks that mark it as an abandoned/unsafe building. "That's our only way in or out."

"That's got to be a fire code violation." Sato says.

"I think this place was totally not made at a time where fire codes were important." Akira says. "Why haven't they built it over?"

"Probably because it's haunted." Sato says. "PKE meter's going nuts."

"This is boring." Kali the Kuei-Jin says. "Look, I'm not waiting for the cops to arrive."

"P-COC." You say.

"Whatever." She rolls her eyes. "I'm taking the others to play pachinko. Text us when it's over."

The vampires walk into the closest hall of noise and light.

"Charming." Akira says. "So...do we have a plan?"

"Sato, go knock on the door." You say.

"What? Why?" He says.

"You know these guys." You say. "You went to their meeting."

"A year ago." He says. "Plus, I'm not exactly dressed for their kind of 'Eyes Wide Shut' kind of stuff."

"Give me your pack." Star says. "Also, what kind of stuff?"

"Eyes Wide Shut." Sato says as he takes off his proton pack. "American movie...Tom Cruise...never mind."

He goes up to the door and knocks on the door.

You all wait, in hiding positions, for a few, rather long, minutes.

Nothing.

Sato knocks again. He sighs and shouts at the door. "Hello? I know this is the meeting. I'm Fumihito's son. I was told to come down here." He shouts at the door.

After a moment the door opens just a crack.

"Hi." Sato says. "I was told to come down here to discuss the...invoices...for the...ritual items?" He grins.

You've seen worse liars, but not many.

Sato shakes his head. "Sorry, I wasn't paying too much attention, just that I had to come down, take a quick tally and accounting and then go back."

"Huh." You say as he gets up from his hiding position and gets the key. "That was...surprisingly clever of Sato."

"Stupid more like it." Star says. "Now he's stuck in there with no back up."

"Yeah, but now we can sneak in without causing a fuss." You say.

Wai 5 minutes
>>
>>31694014
You wait five minutes and then undo the lock and go inside the old theater.

It's pretty ominous, but not as much as you expected. Empty theater foyer, glowing flickering light coming from the stage area, but there's no chanting, no wailing, nothing like that. You actually hear music, a string quartet.

"I know that song." Star mumbles.

"You should," You say. "It's that Hatsune Miku song that's been aggravating everyone on the radio for the past few weeks."

"Why...would anyone play that? With a string quartet no less?" Star asks.

"Ikiryo are powered by hatred, right?" You ask.

Star nods. "Yep. That would do it."

"Help...me..." A voice says from behind a counter. You look and see a young man, he's got bandaged on his hands and his face is caked with tears, blood, mucus, and heavens knows what else. He's also typing madly away at a laptop.

"Please...make it stop." He groans. "I'm sorry about the girls. I really really am. Just please make it stop!"

"UHHH...OKAY." A loud voice says from the direction of the theater's stage. That's Sato! "IF THERE'S ANYONE HERE WHO WOULD BE WILLING TO HELP ME NOT BE HURT...I WOULD APPRECIATE THEM STANDING UP. LIKE NOW. RIGHT NOW!"

The rest of us burst in, wands at the ready. But.... casual.
>>
>>31695010
>>31694979
>>31694941

"Slime him." You say to Star.

You run into the auditorium, wand ready and you see Sato standing there, one man holding onto his arm, tightly, and another standing in front of him.

It kind of looks like you interrupted an underground calligraphy club. On there state there are sitting mats laid out in front of large scrolls of paper, ink pots and brushes next to them. At one side is a small speaker/ipod setup that's playing the music. The mats are all occupied by salarymen, all of them looking at the scene that's happening with Sato. Counting the two people dealing with Sato, you estimate that there's about 13-15 people here.

"Yeah. like I said, friends." Sato says. "So unless you want a mass of protonic energy to the face, you'll let me go. OW!" He winces as the guy holding his arm pulls tighter. "Ass." Sato mumbles. "As the ancients say: One who harms those within your power soon find their power harming them."

"What?" The guy holding Sato asks.

"Or something like that." Sato says with a sheepish grin.

"This is a private gathering, and you and your 'friends' are trespassing." The other man says. "You all need to leave, or else we're going to call the police."

> I know you'll want to say all of these things at one point, but which one would you like to open with?

And besides, this place is abandoned like the yellow ropes say. So you can't be here too. Plus we know that your work is soul-draining ...literally
>>
>>31695262
"Yeah we already took care of that for you. You guys have committed countless crimes against both the living and the dead. We assumed you'd prefer to be judged by the living, though we can do the other thing if not.

And by other thing, I mean the squad of vampires who hate you."
>>
>>31695469
"Yeah, we already did that. For you." You say. "This place is abandoned and off limits."

"Not true." One of the other men says. "I own this building, at least my company does, we have permits to be here. That rope and lock were for privacy. YOU are the ones trespassing."

You smirk. "We know what you've been doing. Your work is literally soul-draining, and you've committed countless crimes against both the living and the dead. We assumed you'd prefer to be judged by the living, though we can do the other thing if not." You say. "And by other thing, I mean the squad of vampires who hate you."

The man who was shouting at Daisuke's eyes go wide. "How do you know about..." He looks at your uniform and gear, then back at Daisuke, seeing all of the patches and markings on his jumpsuit. He shakes his head. "No way. You have to be joking. Everyone knows that the Ghostbusters are con-artists and fakes. Just about as real as those ghost hunting tv shows!"

"Well we aren't." Sato says. "Now," He breaks free of the other man's grip. "The game's up, and be glad that we got here first before something blew up in your face."

> "Everyone come out with your hands up, and we'll make this easy for everyone, and maybe keep names out of this."

>>
>>31696114
"Everyone come out with your hands up, so this doesn't get any uglier than it already is."

If we ask them to turn stuff over, that means we're giving them a chance to touch the stuff first.
>>
It's a clear 2-2-2 split. Again, this is what you lead with. Is it more important to close them down, get all the stuff they've gathered, or find Yuki's attacker?
>>
>>31696552
This.
>>
>>31696850
Grrr.....If we just get her attacker, then the group is free to start again.
SHUT IT DOWN! SHUT IT ALL DOWN!
>>
>>31696850
While our first priority should be our job, i.e. finding Yuki's attacker, I think the best chance we have of accomplishing all three is to shut down the entire group. So go with shut it all down
>>
>>31696850
>shut them down
If they're under arrest we can find out which one was the rapist, and confiscate their stuff later.
>>
>>31696850
Considering that the biggest problem is how whatshername at the temple doesn't want anyone to know she was raped, just outright shouting it might be a bit tasteless.

Probably better to be done in a more discreet manner.
>>
>>31696406

"You are going to turn over every single paranormal thing you have here, to us. Now. Before it eats your face." You say.

Some of them men all shift uncomfortably, but there are a lot of glances to each other.

"Fine." The man says. "Get the items." He says.

There's some shuffling, and Sato gets his pack from Star. After a moment, the 15 men, one of them dripping head to toe with positive slime and looking high as a kite, place a book, a small mirror in a jade frame, an old copper bell that's gone green, and the laptop.

"That's all that we have." The man who is speaking for the others says. "Happy?"

> "Slime 'em, bag em, tag em."
> "Good. Now, fork over the rapist."
> "Sato, Star? Hose them."
> "Alright, now everyone walk outside with your hands up."

"Sato, Star?" You say as you point your want at the group. "Hose them."

"Wait wha-AHHH!" There's a lot of shouting and yelling as they're all splattered with the mood slime.

Afterwards they're too tripped to be mad. Mostly just staring up at the ceiling, or at their hands.

"Okay," You say. "Which one of you likes Italian opera?"

"Yeah." The leader says. "Him." He points at one guy.

"No!" One of the man yells. "No you are NOT sending me down for this!"

"Kota, take it easy." The leader says with a happy smile. "So we lose just a couple of toys, no big deal, we'll get a slap on the wrist and then Une will make it all go away."

"Yeah," The man snarls. "But you're all ready to send ME up the river, and I didn't DO anything."

The slime on the guy is starting to bubble and change color.

"We told you not to do that kind of stuff." He grins. "Attacking women causes people like them to show up, Fumihito and Une TOLD us..."

"It's not my fault, it's not my FAULT!" He snarls.

"You couldn't control your ikiryo. This is what happens." He shrugs.

"NO NO NO!" He snarls and breaks away from the group.

The four artifacts are shaking and vibrating. All the slime around him is now turning black and bubbling.

"We have POWER, we can TAKE what we WANT, it is the WAY of things!" He snarls and points at the three of you. "We DON'T have to listen to people like them...ESPECIALLY people like THEM! I AM the TRUE MASTER of this show, of this WORLD...AND I WILL SHOW YOU ALL!"

The book, bell mirror, and laptop all burst into flame and not-purple light streaks out from where they were and goes into Kato and the pitch-black slime that was covering him.

There's a splurtching noise and Kato the Salary man is now lying on the ground, eyes rolled back in his head, his skin slightly blue.

The slime mass however, has now taken a humanoid form, a human kid form that is holding an oversized pair of scissors.

The ipod/speaker now changes tracks. It's now playing 'Largo Al Factotum' from the Barber of Seville.

Oh well, that just means we'd have 1/2 of a soul in the bag. He dies and we go bust the other half.
>>
Rolled 19

>>31699916
You hit it with the proton beam and it writhes in pain as it lances its slimy body.

Star shoots a proton beam as well.
>>
Rolled 2

>>31700012
She hits it too.

"Sorry for changing the plan!" Star says. "But I think it's time for a new one! Sato!"

"I know!" He says.

Sato shoots out a capture beam.
>>
Rolled 6

>>31700032
Sato shakes his head as the beam of light whips and shakes but fails to hold. "No good! Wear it down a little more!"

The ghost screams and tries to break free of the stasis crystals and get away from the twin beams you've got it trapped in.
>>
>>31700056
Nope, it's still trapped pretty tightly.

> Your turn, you can try and capture stream it now or continue to beat it into submission/disentergation.

Rolled 2

I think we're good for beating it up.
Boson dart.

I'm worried about this next roll but lets use a capture stream.

The ghost tries to shake off the stasis crystals.

It's thrashing and fighting do cause stasis crystals break off...along with it's other whip arm.

Sato tries to slime the creature.
>>
Rolled 16

>>31700330
A nice heavy coating of goo hisses and burns all over the creature.

The thing drops to it's 'knees' and sags.

Star unleashes a capture stream
>>
>>31700359
"GOT IT!" Star says as the beam wraps around the creature. Sato fires his own capture stream as well and the ghost is fully pinned. It makes a few little thrashing movements, but it has had most of the fight knocked out of it.

"Daisuke? Want to to the honors?" Star says.

You toss out the trap and slide it right under the ikiryo. You foot is right over the trigger...there's only one thing left.

> What's the Capture Quip?

>>31700382
Something opera related. "Looks like this fat lady is about to sing."

"Looks like this fat lady is about to sing!" You shout as you stamp on the trigger.

The ghost is sucked into the trap and it snaps shut, hissing and steaming.

"Anyone see my finger tips?" Star asks as she searches.

Sato checks Kato's breath and pulse. "He's alive." He says. "He, asshole, wake up." He slaps him. Kato is still unresponsive, his eyes staring out at nothing.

Sato frowns. "I think we may have a problem."

"Found em!" Star says. "So groady. You think they'll be able to put them back on?"

Sato shrugs.

"You look nicer in gloves anyway Star." You say.

She blushes. "Thanks Daisuke. Yeah, early Madonna look...I can work that, totally."

"So what are we doing with him?" Sato points at Kato.

> "Slime him again."

> "Get him up and we'll take him back home, see what we can do."

We've got his soul, he's our problem for now.
>>
>>31700665
> "Get him up and we'll take him back home, see what we can do."

Such as getting Yuki to positively ID him before we turn him over to P-COC.
>>
>>31700665
We just soul-trapped someone. P-COC is gonna hit us hard for that. Maybe he should be.... elsewhere when they arrive? Also, slime him.
>>
>>31700665
>> "Get him up and we'll take him back home, see what we can do."
It's time for science
>>
>>31700665
"Let's take him to headquarters, maybe view the protocol for this.

Also what happened to that laptop guy? He alive?"
>>
>>31700813
Oh yeah, laptop dude
>>
>>31700813
We should probably help/interrogate him too.
>>
>>31700813
Also we should try and see how far the other members of the Gentlemen's Club went, before they became accosted by vampires.

Maybe there are some survivors?

Also we lost all the evidence, and all the suspects didn't we?
>>
>>31700726
"Get him up," You say. "We'll take him home. Get Yuki to confirm that it's him. Then we'll make sure that we haven't trapped his soul or anything."

Both of your fellow ghostbusters nod, and help the man to his feet. He obeys, much like a sleepwalker would, his body responding to stimuli. With a little help he's walking on his own, but it's not much more than a stagger.

You exit the theater and into a sea of flashing lights and bright spotlights pointed right at you.

"Hello, Ghostbusters." A voice says in the sea of lights.

You vision adjusts and you see yourself surrounded by policemen and P-COC Resolution Agents.

There are two ambulances on the scene, all of the members of the Gentlemen's club are being triaged and treated. You see shroud covered figures on the ground as well.

At the other side you see Kali and the old Chinese man sitting in the back a police car, they have gags in their mouths, and their arms are bound.

There are two smoking dust piles that are being secured and bagged by P-COC Resolution Agents.

Lady Une, the one who spoke, walks up to you. Yasuo is right behind her, looking grim.

"So," She says. "I suppose you wanted this one personally, didn't you?" She motions with a hand and Yasuo walks up to Kato.

Star frowns. "This man is hurt, and needs special attention. We were going to take him back to our facility."

"P-COC will take it from here." Yasuo says. "We'll be taking that as well." He points to the steaming trap.

"And if we refuse?" Sato says.

Yasuo leans close. "Your vampires aren't saying anything, but you are on thin ice as it is. Don't give us a reason." He mutters.

Jesus. . .uhhh
>>
>>31700969
Explain that the person is a suspect in an investigation that the ghostbusters were contracted to perform. Don't say anything about Yuki but explain that you want to double check with your client before turning him over. Also ask about the P-COC's Internal Affairs department as you overhead information about possible malfeasance. Don't accuse Une right now though.
>>
>>31700969
Also what's P-COC's policy on vampires?
>>
>>31701042
Right, use every scrap of legal tie-up and red tape we can.
>>31700969
They want the ghost and Kato? They'll have to be processed by the Ghostbusters first that's our job, and then if they want a specific sample they'll have to sign the appropriate forms needed in triplicate, where our own administration will need to sign and approve it pending a thorough review of the appropriate contextual situation.
>>
>>31701089
Let's try that as a last resort though. I'd prefer to avoid annoying Yasuo if possible. He seemed to be one of the more reasonable ones in P-coc.
>>
>>31701042
Pretty much this.
>>
>>31701132
That is true too. damnit. This is a situation we have on our hands isn't it.
>>
>>31700969
So where's laptop guy?
>>
>>31701147
>>31701161
So let's just explain why we need to hold on to our suspect without violating Yuki's privacy, inquire into P-COC internal affairs, and help out our friendly vampires if possible. If we can get Yasuo to see things our way that would be preferable.
>>
>>31701216
That would be nice, if possible.
>>
>>31701176
>So where's laptop guy?
With the other injured Gentlemen. You hope. It's hard to see from here...he could be one of the few that's under a shroud.

>Also what's P-COC's policy on vampires?
Depends on the vampire. If they're willing to be tagged with a gps chip, and given a habitation zone, and obey rules then they're allowed to continue to exist.

But Kali and the old man aren't just vampires, they're Chinese nationals and they don't have legal passports.

And the People's Republic of China has a very simple line in regards to Kuei-Jin and it involves a furnace.
>>
>>31701216
>>31701289
Right, sooo.

"We have been hired by our clientel to investigate and treat an ongoing paranormal assault, as per our mission goal and contract as Ghostbusters.

We have substantial evidence to indicate this man is our primary suspect, and as per protocol, we will need to retain him to both cease the attacks on our client as well as prevent any further. To release the suspect now leaves open the chance of further paranormal assaults, which we are obligated to prevent.

In addition, we can neither provide any hard evidence, but events have lead us to suspect a possibility of paranormal malfeasance within the P-COC itself. It is the humble suggestion that you investigate this possibility with no degree of lightness.

Lastly, we also request to retain Kali and her team as we are led to beileve they tangent to the condition of our clientel as well as further leads to malevolent cult activity, which as per our mission outline, we will continue to investigate.

The PRC's jurisdiction extends to Chinese nationals and citizens, of which these creatures are not. They are paranormal entities and under the jurisdiction of where they are currently found, which in this case is Japan."
>>
>>31701289
>Chinese nationals and they don't have legal passports
Ooh. Didn't think of that. We need to help them if possible too. Possibly exploit a refugee policy saying that they'll be killed if they return home.
>>
>>31701289
Well that's bad.

Also, I thought "shut them down" meant arrest them, not "take their stuff and leave" or whatever.
>>
>>31701348
Ah, that's clever.

How can they be a citizen if they're dead?

At most they have a fake identity as a Chinese national, though the old guy probably doesn't even have that.
>>
>>31701377
Excatly. If we found a chinese ghost in Japan we'd bust it all the same and the PCR couldn't say didly.
>>
>>31701348
Well summarized. I'd only add that they should also be considered refugees and ask about filing an IA report ourselves to P-coc's main office, hopefully outside Ume's reach.
>>
>>31701418
ehh, treating them as refugees would be treating them as people and leaves open the chance for extradition.
Treating them as ghosts and paranormal entities ensures the Chinese have no political power over them.
>>
>>31701441
Unfortunate but true.
>>
>>31701348
You take a breath and look at Yasuo.

"We have been hired by our clientel to investigate and treat an ongoing paranormal assault, as per our mission goal and contract as Ghostbusters. Yasuo bites his lower lip for a moment and then nods. "Very well." He takes out his ticket pad. "There will be a fine for entering a building without P-COC sanction. A fine for the unsanctioned acquisition and destruction of magical artifacts. A fine for the use of your mood slime, and there may be future assault charges and injury lawsuits. There will be a fine for not reporting unlicensed paranormal creatures. There will be a fine for allowing possible dangerous creatures free upon the city without warning, notification, or P-COC oversight. There will be a fine for the damages that you have done to this property, and there will be a fine for calling in to P-COC with an erroneous report, seeing as the situation was much more than you reported."

>not reporting unlicensed paranormal creatures.
>allowing possible dangerous creatures free upon the city without warning, notification, or P-COC oversight.
>calling in to P-COC with an erroneous report, seeing as the situation was much more than you reported.
Oh come on all of that is absolutely a load of horscock.
It's like they think we're God

unlicensed paranormal creatures? When the fuck have they been licensing them.

Should we get one for Yurei?
>>
>>31701462
See if we're grandfathered passed any of those but don't push our luck with Yasuo too much. Otherwise protest the false report charge as you reported the situation to the best of your abilities. The point being not as much to reduce the fee but to impress on Yasuo that you're not trying to mislead p-coc or lead them into anything unprepared. Emphasize politeness and friendliness and/or repentance.
>>
>>31701523
Eh, it's just fines. Let's shut our lip and let Yasuo do his job.
This will just be a particularly thick wad of paper to stick on our Fine Wall
>>
>>31700382
Looks like your part has been...CUT!
>>
>>31701462
"There will be a fine for starting an investigation into the paranormal without alerting P-COC, since you have FAILED to get your P-COC registration papers completed."

"I turned those in last week!" Star says.

"And you should have waited for them to be processed. Which is another fine, as you obviously have NO proper regard for the protocol. Not to mention that there will be a fee for the paperwork that you'll need for him, as well as those two." He gestures to the Kuei-Jin. "And there WILL be more paperwork as well, and I'll be sending medical and law official officers to fully examine your claims tomorrow."

Une has realized by now that something's going on.

"What are you doing, boy?" She asks Yasuo. "Take Kato and the ghost and lock these fools up!"

Yasuo doesn't look up from the tickets he's writing. "I'm sorry Lady Une, but at this point I cannot do that. I need to contact Mr. Peck and inform him of these claims."

"WHAT?!"

"Any malfeasance claim must be reported to P-COC central. That's protocol."

"But they're GHOSTBUSTERS they're LYING."

"If they are, they will be fined. Until then, we have no recourse...also, the two individual creatures in the car have to be released into their custody."

"WHAT?!"

"They've taken responsibility for them, and they were both non-hostile and non-agressive when captured. Once the paperwork is completed and the further fees are paid, they will be their problem." Yasuo looks up at you. "Also, I would advise you to look into asylum and defection options. We've already taken their photos and fingerprints, as per protocol, and unless they want to go directly back to China. They're on a Do Not Fly list, forever."

"I am your superior and I am ORDERING YOU TO DO YOUR JOB AND ARREST THEM!" She snaps.

"I am doing my job, and if I were to arrest them they'd be out by dawn and we would be the ones paying fines." He says.

She throws up her hands and storms away.

>>
>>31701569
Yasuo shakes his head and hands you a stack of fines, fees, and other tickets.

"Congratulations Ghostbuster. You win this one." He says as he walks away.

Standing there, with at least 10 Million Yen in fines in your hand, it's hard to feel like a winner.

Kali and the old man are led up to you and they look unhappy.

"So, I guess that I can kiss Berlin good-bye." She mutters.

"What. Happened?" Star asked.

"Mistakes were made, and then the cops showed up, okay? You fill in the fucking blanks." She groans. "So...since apparently we're your new 'pets' then I'm guessing we're going back to that dump you call home, right?"

"It's not a dump." Sato says.

"Yeah, whatever. Anyway, I hope you have some place other than that factory, cause I am NOT sleeping there." Kali says.

Star gets a nasty smile. "You're in luck. Our next door neighbor's roommate is JUST about to move out."

Thanks again GhostMaster. When can we expect the next episode?
>>
>>31701687
Oh yeah, we saved Kali AND have our guy.

Damned shame we couldn't get the Laptop guy.

Also I really hope we still get to drive that monster truck like we were supposed to do except we got into a gameshow, which is also pretty awesome in and of it's own.
Thanks ghostmaster, looking forward to next thursday.

Still a little miffed we didn't get the DVD for that. Not even the a single picture.

Also oh shit we left the Chinese guy to them. Wasn't he the gameshow host?

EPISODE 15
We'll be starting a new plot line:

- Holding a Grudge: Go after the next Aspect of Oiwa.

- Sticking your neck out: Further helping the Yokai community.

- Nowhere Mill: Sato's father has done the books for a number of strange people over the years. Time for an accounting

You can pick which one, next week!

Thursday, May 1st, 4-6pm PST
>>
>>31701745
No, that wasn't him. That was one of the vampires, we got everyone.
Except laptop dude. Poor, poor guy.
>>
>>31701774
>- Sticking your neck out: Further helping the Yokai community.
We should definitly do this first.
Getting on good sides with the spiritworld would be a huge plus.

Especially when we need help. . .
>>
>>31701781
I'm sure P-COC has some resources to help him. And if not they know where to find us. And we know what rate to charge.
>>
>>31701810
I'm more worried he's either going to end up facing a return to his typing status quo with added security, or simply "disappear" as it were.
If he was still alive.
>>
>>31701781
Man, Akira is going to pitch a fit when he finds out we adopted the Kuei-Jin
>>
>>31701894
That is, if he hasn't already been kidnapped or something doing his solo thing.

Nah, he said he had that shit down, surely. Who knows, maybe he and Sana are catching up with each other even.
>>
>>31701859
So we'll check up on him when we pay whatever fines we can't weasel out of. We'll ask Yasuo about it. He's honest and if the guy dissapeared it'll only back up our malfeasance accusations.

Also keep in mind that our typist may have had something to do with the assaults. He mentioned something about some "girls" several times.

Also has anyone archived this yet?
>>
>>31701569
>>31701687

All things considered, I have to like Yasuo. He's incredibly by the book...but at the same time he's bloody fair about it. I'd rather him than one who will bend the rules to get us in even more trouble like Une would evidently like.
