The final days of your voyage are relatively uneventful. You stopped meditating, since you felt as though you weren’t making any more progress. After seeing everything in a given area in such detail, it seems to become too familiar to really exercise with.

After the battle with the pirates, Riolu was a bit more restless than usual, and decided to spar with many of the Machop aboard the ship. You noticed that while his speed and ability were superior, the Machop outclassed him in terms of physical power. You’re unsure if that is due to Riolu being weak or his opponents being strong, but it did give you something to consider.

Halfway through the remainder of your voyage, you began traveling upriver. Fortunately, it was spring so you didn’t need to worry about ice, and the thaw was making the river deeper and wider than usual, allowing you to arrive at your destination without any trouble.

Your journey ends when you arrive at Anistar city’s port. It’s much smaller than the one in Coumarine, only having space for a handful of ships. As you approach, you also notice a strange pink crystal set up on one of the piers. From what you remember, it is the major landmark of the city.

After the ship has docked, you help with sorting out the requisite forms and papers needed to keep your ship at the pier and unload the shipment. Once that is finished, the sailors begin unloading the shipment onto nearby carts. More men, who you assume are workers from the mine, aid them in organizing the haul.

A large man from the mining group approaches you, extending his hand.

“You must be Millener’s boy,” he begins, “The resemblance is definitely there. The name’s Brian Steel. I’m in charge of the mining operation around these parts.”

“My name is Ceil,” you reply, shaking the man’s hand, “My father sent me to oversee the shipment.”

“Well, glowing crystals are very useful for our operation,” he continues, “The only trouble is that they get broken by monsters fairly often. I tell you what, how would you like a tour of the mines? “

You consider his offer. Your ship isn’t leaving very soon, since the sailors will want some time ashore, and the ship needs for food supplies for the journey back. Most likely you’ll be here for a few days.

>Accept his offer, it sounds interesting

"Thank you for the offer," you start, "But I think I'd rather wait until tomorrow. I'd like to spend some time in town."

"Alright then," he says, "I'll have someone stop by tomorrow to show you to the mines."

With that, he heads back over to his workers, overseeing the transport of the cargo. Soon, they've finished gathering up the crates and proceed east out of town, towards the mountains.

"So what were you planning on doing?" Lisa asks.

The fort would probably eat up most of your time, and you're not sure if they'd even want you around there.

"How about we start with that crystal by the pier?" you suggest, "Then after that we can have a look around the market and see if there's anything interesting."

"Alright," Lisa nods, "Sounds like fun."

You inform the captain where the two of you will be touring the town for the day, just in case he needs to find you. Afterwards, you move along the piers until you arrive at the large crystal you saw earlier.

It seems a bit smaller than you first thought, although it's still quite large. There seems to be a hole in the center, as well as a number of marked rings in front of the crystal. It might function as some sort of sundial.

"It's so beautiful," Lisa smiles, "I wonder where they found it?"

She continues to stare at the crystal for an extended period of time, you're about to ask what she's looking at, when suddenly you hear a voice from behind you.

"I would not advise gazing upon the crystal for too long," the voice calls, "It takes a strange hold of some."

You turn to find a women in plain looking clothes, although she doesn't seem to be looking at you. Her attention is on Lisa, whose
focus on the crystal seems to break.

"Sorry," Lisa stammers, "I guess I just got lost in thought for a bit."

The woman nods, before turning her attention to you. She looks you up and down, pausing to glance at Riolu. She seems like she's looking for something. After a moment, she nods before departing.

"She seemed a bit odd," Lisa says, "Who do you think she was?

With that, you rush after her. You catch up quickly, as the women seems to stop as you close the distance.

"Quite inquisitive," she begins, "All of you are alike that way. I assume you want to try you hand as well?"

"What are you-"

"Let me explain," she interrupts, "I know that you are an aura user. I know you are on a pilgrimage to learn aura. I know you came after me because you thought I knew something about aura. However, our ways are not like your ways. You may think them similar, but being a psychic is not the same. Yet, for some reason every aura user who comes to this town decides that he must have a talent for any strange powers, and insists on trying to learn. It always ends the same though."

She pauses for a moment and glances at you.

"I sense some hesitation," she continues, "What is it you want to do?"

"I just wanted to know who you were," you reply, "And what the deal with that crystal was."

"Sorry," she apologizes, "I've misjudged your intentions. My name is Morgan. That crystal is a sort of a psychic focus. During certain times, it can cause mental resonance over a large area. However, at most other times, it will only resonate with a certain wavelength. That is why Lisa was distracted by it, but you were fine. Now, if that is all, I must be off."

She turns and begins walking away. You consider asking her more, but you could probably find her later if you needed to. With that, you walk back down the pier towards the crystal. You decide to look at it using your aura abilities.

Focusing in, it does seem that the crystal has its own wavelength, although it subtly radiates outward. You get a certain sense of clarity coming off of it, although you're not sure what that implies.

Stepping away, you and Lisa walk back down the pier and into town.

"You attract some strange people Ceil," she mutters.

Well, strangers aside, what do you want to do next?

"How about we grab some lunch?" you suggest.

"That sounds great," Lisa agrees, "I was getting really sick of the food on that ship."

The two of you hunt down a fairly nice restaurant. Nothing too expensive, but you could be sure the meat wouldn't be dried.

Your meal arrives shortly, and you dig in. Your taste buds sing with delight after having such bland meals for the past week. You also order a few oysters for Riolu, who seems very excited to have his favorite meal. You wonder what he liked about them so much.

You finish eating your meal, covering the bill with your ample funds.

"Lets go look around the market," you say, "Maybe we'll find something interesting."

Lisa gives a quick nod as the two of you walk towards the market district. It's much smaller than the one in Coumarine, and at a glance you can already tell some of the items here are a bit pricier due to lower supply. However, since the town is near the Terminus mines, you might be able to get a lower price from some metal wares.

After heading towards the various smithies, Lisa decides to drag you to a nearby jewelry store. They have a surprising variety here. You notice quite a few pieces set with rare stones as well. Looking around though, a lot of the items in here are out of your price range.

After a few minutes, you turn to leave, however you notice Lisa eying one of the necklaces on display. You also notice it would just barely be within your price range.

Well, you are going to the mines tomorrow. If you're lucky you might find a sunstone to get fitted into a necklace. You might also find something else, but in that case you could always sell it and come back here later.

While Lisa is distracted by the necklace, you slip out the front before she can think to ask you for it. You amble around the area for a bit until she comes out of the store.

You head to one of the local blacksmiths. While your glaive was serving you well, it might not be a bad idea to get some extra armor or weapons.

You opt to get a light breastplate. Something small enough that you could wear under your clothes without too much discomfort, but sturdy enough to provide good protection. You briefly consider getting one for Lisa, but you remember she already has her leathers.

Speaking of leathers though, you could get some leather armor for Riolu. Other armor probably wouldn't be flexible enough though.

After asking the owner, he informs you that a normal breastplate would cost 60p. He mentions having some others, but those are out of your price range.

You reach for your coin purse in order to pay for the armor, but can't seem to find it.

Maybe you put it in your other pocket, although it doesn't seem to be there.

Did Riolu take it? You set him down on the floor to search through his travel pouch, but it doesn't seem to be there.

You do manage to dig out your emergency coin purse, although you know how much is in there. It seems that you've lost a fair chunk of your money somewhere.

>Current funds: 20p

Well, this was a fine mess. Where could you have lost it? You apologize after explaining to the blacksmith, heading back into the market.

You decide to retrace your steps, crossing back over to the jewelry store. You first use your aura abilities to take a quick look around. You don't notice anything in particular that stands out as being your aura. The shopkeepers assure you that they haven't seen your coin purse, and you use your aura abilities to confirm they aren't lying.

You head to the restaurant next, although you're unfortunate enough to get there just as people are arriving for diner. After asking some of the staff, it seems that they haven't seen your stolen property either.

You take a last look around the restaurant, just to make certain nothing is here.

You focus as you observe through the room as you use your aura, although it's difficult to find what you're looking for due to all the people.

Except for the fact that the culprit seems to still be here. You can see a monster deftly picking the pockets of the patrons. It looks like some sort of frog. After swiping another coin purse, it stows it in a small bag on its back before swiftly leaping into the rafters. It's hiding fairly well, if you weren't using aura you wouldn't be able to see it.

Now it's just a question of how you want to handle this.

You carefully work your way over, trying to appear casual. Fortunately, the frog doesn't seem to react to you, leaping down to sift through a lady's handbag. Stepping lightly, you approach it's location while acting ignorant of its existence. Then, as you near it, you quickly dip down and scoop it up in your arms, trying to wrestle the bag off of its back.

The frog turns to face you, glaring at you with its golden eyes. You grit your teeth as you continue holding on as tight as you can, but your grab breaks as the frog unleashes a spray of water into your face. Thinking quickly, you close your eyes and use aura to make sure you can still see. The restaurant is in a bit of an uproar now.

Riolu moves to intercept the frog, attempting his leaping spin attack. However, the monster seems to simply leap onto Riolu, using him as a stepping stone to make his escape, Lisa tries to draw an arrow, but the thing is out the door before she can line up her shot.

"Lisa, try and follow it on the roof," you command, "I'll stick to the streets with Riolu."

"Right," she nods.

The two of you start down the street, Lisa using some crates, a cabbage cart, and an awning in order to reach the rooftops with dazzling speed. Her pidgey begins to soar overhead, and it helps you keep track of your target.

Racing through the streets, you hear the whistling of the occasional arrow, but it doesn't seem like any of the shots hit. You soon arrive in an alley, and judging by the position of Pidgey, you have a good feeling for where the thief is. You double check with aura, and it seems he's about to leap over the alley you're in.

Before you even give the word, Riolu is already leaping between the walls to intercept, meeting the bandit in midair. With a quick strike, the blue frog crashes to the ground, and you hurriedly use your glaive to slice the bag off of its back. Using the handle, you pin the frog to the ground. He doesn't have enough reach or strength to move it, and he can't get an angle to splash you with water.

A few moments later, Lisa works her way down from the roof, Pidgey coming to roost on her arm.

"Well, we got the money back," she states, "Now what are we gonna do with this guy?"

You take care to secure your belongings before letting the frog go. It eyes you carefully for a moment before blowing a large cloud of bubbles into the air. You quickly swipe your glaive through the air, bursting through the weak attempt at an attack. However, by the time you can see through the cloud, the small frog is already at the other end of the alley. Pidgey once again takes flight, and you follow it to avoid being seen.

As you worm your way through the streets, you get closer and closer to the pier. You also spot Pidgey circling overhead nearby, implying that your target has stopped.

Rounding the corner, you realize why Pidgey was circling, as it seems the thief dove into the river. You scan the scene using aura, but there are so many aquatic monsters you can't tell which is which.

Well, you lost the trail, but you did get your money back, plus a bit extra.

"Let's go eat some dinner," you say walking away from the first restaurant. Lisa doesn't say anything, but she is keeping up with you.

After finding a relatively inexpensive place, you manage to get a table after a bit of waiting. You order your meal, although much of it is eaten in silence. Riolu is also unusually tense, seeming to sense the difference in mood.

"What are you thinking?" Lisa blurts out suddenly.

"Huh?"

"Are you even going to try to return it?" she continues, "You already got yours back. What do you want the rest of it for? If it's just you being lazy again, then at least let me return it for you."

Well...

"I wasn't really sure who to return it to..." you reply, "Maybe we can go to the restaurant later?"

"Ceil, I know you said you did stupid things sometimes," she smiles, "But you need to remember that's why you have me, remember?

You nod, quickly finishing your meal. Afterwards, you head over to the other restaurant. While the customers have mostly left, the management assures you that many of them were regulars. They already reported the incident to the guards, meaning that they should be able to return all of it.

Heading back out, you realize that it's getting rather late. You should probably figure out where to sleep for the night.

"Let's go find an inn," you say, "I'm getting tired of sleeping on that ship."

"Yeah," Lisa agrees, "I know it's not as bad as that hammock, but that cot isn't exactly luxurious."

As you head towards the inn, you spy one of the sailors from the ship waving you down. After you head over, he explains that the Captain had cashed in the bounty on the pirate you defeated, Captain Lawrence. There are certain rules within the shipping company about how the reward gets divided up, but you have secured a tidy sum.

"Do you always get this much money after a near-death experience?" Lisa laughs.

Continuing on to the inn, you find one with rather reasonable rates. As you head over to the innkeeper, you turn to Lisa.

"Would you be alright with sharing a room?" you ask, "I'm pretty strapped for cash."

"It's not like we haven't been already for the past week," she replies, rolling her eyes at your poor attempt at a joke.

After speaking to the innkeeper, it seems he has two rooms available. The bad news is that each only has one bed.

Since its tied up I'll switch. Might as well try. But let the argument be a little better than money. Maybe, It'll be strange sleeping away from you or something..

You make the rather wise decision to purchase two rooms for the night. You don't want to think about how Lisa would've reacted to you asking her to share a bed.

Current Funds: 685p

After heading up to your room, you give Riolu one of the pillows off of the bed as well as a spare blanket. It might not full bed, but he seems content to curl up on it nonetheless.

With that, you crawl into bed, hoping your trip to the mines tomorrow will be a bit less hectic.

And that's it for tonight's thread. Thanks for participating. I'll probably be sticking around for a bit longer if you've got any comments, questions, or suggestions.
>>
>>31674703
And I just noticed that switched to a tie, unfortunately, your rolls still weren't what you needed, so that pretty much goes as it did with an added slap in there.
>>
>>31674703
Ah, little too late to switch I do suppose then. Well it was a good thread. Blows 4chan shit itself earlier though. So OP how are you enjoying running it? Have you planned things out some or are you just going with the flow? Obviously not asking spoilers or anything.
>>
>>31674727
How hard was the slap that didn't happen?
Thanks for the thread Med
>>
>>31674703
I'm kinda surprised it was that easy to return the money.
>>
>>31674753
I'm enjoying it very much so far. As for planning ahead, most of the preplanning related to the options for initial powers/weapons and starters.

Other than that, I plan a few events and people ahead, with others as they happen.

>>31674781
Enough to sting. Lisa's stronger than she looks.

>>31674801
It's a fairly small town. Most of the money was stolen from the restaurant, so it wouldn't be to difficult to track everyone down.

Unless you mean how you avoided being questioned by the guards. That was just me wanting to avoid boring legal procedures.
>>
>>31674833
huh. I had assumed the place would be big, considering it's a port town. I thought that returning the money WOULD be a huge chore, with people trying to con us out of money they don't own.
>>
>>31674881
Well, it has a port, but it's a mining town along a river. Most of the travel here is for business and other shipments.

Plus, your aura abilities are somewhat good at sensing emotions, so if you really wanted to be certain you could talk to everyone yourself.
>>
>>31674935
Aura powers are super-useful, huh?
>>
>>31675046
Yeah. Pretty much either that or psychic abilities was probably the best option from the initial choices.
>>
>>31675119
...let's NOT let Psychic be overpowered, thanks.
>>
>>31675173
Don't worry. It won't be overpowered because you guys didn't pick it. The best they're going to get is surface thought reading, and minor telekinesis. Anything more powerful would require a psychic mon.
