You are Quinn Redmond. You left to the city of Alabaster with your exceptionally powerful Visage and found the city to be infested with the Miasma and the Adrift, monsters born from within it. You tried to get help from the King himself but to no avail. After a fight, your own Visage devoured you limb to limb. Now where does the story go on from there? Silly question. It can only go forward.
_______________

“Where… am I?”

The light peers through the dark. You’re falling quickly, down into the dark mixed with light. Your body flips right side up. A platform catches you softly, allowing you to stand straight up. “What is this?” you find yourself looking all around to study your surroundings.

You stand on a stained glass platform with three lights raining down onto three stained glass portraits.

“This world is not yet at its end.” the voice sounds, “It’s too soon. Much too soon.”

“What are you talking about?” you look up into the ‘ceiling’ that’s only a blackened abyss.

“Look upon the three great powers and choose.” three spheres appear bathed in the light of the portraits.

“Choose…?”

Sylph
35+50+10+15+30 = 140

Bahamut
60+10+28+13+10 = 121

Rodren
50+20+10+30+5 = 115

I'm not trying to stir shit up, because I have no idea if every stat worth has the same volume, but that's my simple explanation. And, I'm sucker for health regeneration.

Anyway, I was the only one who voted for her, so I'll just shut the fuck up now.
>>
>>31623741
Just adding them up side by side doesn't mean anything. Especially for MP. All that matters is how much the spells cost. Dragon's 4mana spell is at least as good (even better if you ask me) as Sylph's 15mana spell
>>
>>31623741
It isn't raw numbers but distribution, also Sylph has absolutely no combat ability which I think is what most people are their choice off

Honestly I would go for her if Bahamut wasn't as good as he is because I like health regen as well

“You accept the form of a dragon forged in hellfire.” all the light in the room focuses on you. The sphere absorbs into your stomach, causing you to keel over in agitation.

The ground below you starts to shatter. “Now what’s going o-AHHHHHH!” the circular platform busts.

Flop.

You hit another platform just below it. You shake your head from side to side as you stumble to your feet. Your black hair is all a mess, too. “What’s…”

The familiar face of Stasia is there with her Visage, Cornell, just above her. This certainly isn’t reality. It’s a reflection of the terrible, visceral nightmare where Magdalene devoured your very being.

It was obvious what was about to happen.

“Bombardment!” you yell, commanding your newly summoned Verus Bahamut. Its mouth glows red with fiery might.

It releases a powerful inferno from its mouth straight into Cornell’s body, causing it to reel back from pain. “Raaaaaaooo.” it releases a low toned roar.

After gathering itself, the Visage lets loose a powerful punch that smashes right into Verus Bahamut’s body. It flies straight up into the air and smacks down into the center of the platform.

“Come on, get up, we can do this.” you assist the dragon to its feet. It nods, ready to prove itself to you again.

Verus Bahamut strikes the beast with renewed vigor. It continuously bits into Cornell’s eyes, causing the hulking mass to scream in pain. “Good job!” you grab your halberd and leap straight up into the air. The blade stabs inside of the Visage’s throat.

“RAOOOOO!” it screeches but the two of you don’t let up. With all your might you continue to hold on. Verus Bahamut, realizing that the monster was about to tumble over, quickly grabs you by the nape of your cloak. The halberd loosened up from the inside of Cornell’s mouth. Your Visage drops you to the ground just as the enemy Visage faceplants the stained glass floor which results in it becoming cracked.

“Phew.” you see the cracks spider out from the point of impact. The gears in your head start to turn…

There’s no time to waste. If that thing gets up then this fight is just going to drag on longer than it should. “Verus.” you call out the first name of the dragonic Visage. You shorten it so it sounds a bit cuter than it should. He heeds your command, grabbing you by the arm to fly straight up into the darkened sky. After you reach optimum altitude, you have him drop you straight down to the ground. “Haaaah!” you thrust your halberd into Cornell’s exposed back.

The crack in the glass expands outward until it covers the entire platform. Glass explodes all around you. Cornell begins falling while you still have your halberd embedded into his back.

You fall down.
Faster and faster.
Breaking more platforms as you go.
One, two, three bust from the first impact.
The fourth and fifth provide more resistance.

The last one doesn’t break. It manages to hold the combined weight of the Visage and yourself. “AAaaaaa…” it seems that was it.The fight had been ended. Cornell transforms into crystals of Miasma that seep into your body. You accept them openly knowing that they can do you no harm.

Verus Bahamut follows you down into the chasm the descending Cornell created. He lands right in front of you, staring up into your face with innocent beady eyes. You pat the drake on the head for a job well done. That’s when he vanishes, returning to the recesses of your soul.

“You truly are formidable.” the mysterious voice announces, “You will become stronger as time goes on. Keep that resolve, keep what you hold dear to your heart… you may become the hope that this bleak world needs.”

After that, you are engulfed in a bright white light.

The calm ocean waves beat against the sand. Above is a shining sun that is a contrast to the bleak world that the races of the world inhabit. The Adrift lay siege to populated towns, to forests, everywhere the Miasma lurks they will soon follow. It doesn’t matter who or what you are. The Miasma is a very real threat. People predict within the next fifty years, there will be nothing left to salvage. Many have given up. Many have succumbed to despair.

You, however, are different. Your optimism seems to rub off on everyone that you talk to. You constantly boast ‘there’s a way, I’ll find it, don’t worry everyone’. It’s funny considering that you have this odd habit of reciting and writing down poetry about ‘darkness’ and ‘despair’ You figure this is your way of dealing with the darkness all around you. A way to stop yourself from drowning in it.

“Hmmmgh.” you wake from a dream while lying on the beach near your home village of Orndirk. “I… fell asleep again?”

You pull yourself up at a ninety-degree angle. Where was Magdalene? “Magdalene…?” Yes, that’s right. You remember being devoured by your own Visage… then that dream. Then what? You fought a girl named Stasia. Magdalene used Orthodoxy. Then you were eaten.

That was the order of the events that happened but why they happened is another case. “Quinn!!!” you hear a scream from the hill nearby. You see a small, blonde girl holding a ball in her hand. “QUINN! Are you going to play? You promisedddd!” there are other kids gathered behind her, all being rowdy as small children will be.

>”Alright, I’ll play with you in a bit!”

“Not now, I’m sorry! Maybe later today, okay? Oh, what’s today’s date?!”

“You always…” she mumbles low enough that you can’t hear, “Hm, it’s Vaul, 4th Month and the 174th year. You didn’t know that…? Hmgh.” the girl named Chelsea shouts back. “Later today!... They said they can’t.” Chelsea mumbles to the kids. They all have a collective sigh and go back to whatever game they were playing before interrupting you.

Vaul is the fourth day on the ten day calendar. The fourth month would be Rem. The year, 174, is the years since the formation of the new kingdom of Alabaster. Well relatively new. This is only a thing the humans and the other races associated with Alabaster use. The days and months are the same. For continuity's sake, you actually went to Alabaster in the year of 175. Meaning that… “I’m one year back in time?” your eyes go wide. How is that even possible?... Okay, put that aside. There has to be a way to prove this. If you can summon that dragon you got in the dream, it’s definitely true.
>>
“Verus Bahamut.” you call upon the name of the Visage.

Sure enough, he appears in front of you with his chicken legs and long head to lick your face. “A-alright, that tickles a bit.” he nudges you harder, putting you onto your back.

Lick. Lick. Lick.

“Hahahaha.” you can’t help but laugh at him being so playful. First it was Magdalene being so friendly with you, now it’s Verus too? Is it something about you or about them? No, it doesn’t matter now. That’s enough proof. You traveled back in time.

You’re surprisingly cool with- Wait. That means you can take on the threat to Orndirk before it even comes this way. Though… would you be able to take it alone? You know where the chasm is that the Miasma is going to spill out. That should be enough information to go on.

Talking to the Elder Dwarf should probably be the first job on the agenda. You can get a feel for the current situation as well as ask for a map to the mines to attack this problem head on before it starts.

You dismiss Verus Bahamut then start your walk up the hill.
______

The village of Orndirk is lively as always. The kids are playing in the central square of town. There are humans and dwarves talking with each other while having a drink in the outside bar. Whatever they’re talking about, they’re having a good time since you can hear them laughing Maybe you should slide on over after this job is done for a drink yourself?

“That’d be nice.” you walk on to the Elder Dwarf’s house.

You knock on his door, “Hello, Elder! Are you home?”

“Hmmm? Yes, come on in.” his gruff voice already makes you feel at home. The door opens up to reveal a short man with a white beard and a stern gaze.

“It’s me, Quinn.”

“OH, Quinn! It’s great to see you again!” the man strolls briskly over to embrace you in a hug. “How’ve you been? How’ve your parents been? Take a seat, take a seat! I’ll get you something to drink. What will you have?” The warm welcome certainly eases your worry about the future.

“I’ve been fine,” you take a seat.

“Whatever ale you have would be good for me.” you lean back in the chair to make sure you’re relaxed.

“Any ale? This time a’day? You sure?” You nod, “Alright then, child.” he walks off. A second later he brings back two mugs filled with god knows what. Just smelling it burns your nostrils.

“Ohhh.” you plug your nose.

“Hahaha!” he lets out a hearty laugh, “Sure you can stomach it?”

“I-I’m sure…” you hesitate while taking a large swig from the contents of the mug.

It burns your throat going down. With nothing to wash the taste down, it burns. It burns a lot .”Mmmmmm.”

“Knew you wouldn’t be able to handle it.” the Elder seems content with his diagnosis of your alcohol tolerance.

“I can, it just burns, alright?”

“Mmhmm. So what did you need?”

“I need to go into the Orndirk Chasm. I have a bad feeling about it down there.”

“Course you have a bad feeling about it. It’s a bed of Miasma deep down in.”
“Yes, that’s true, but I’m sure I can survive down there.”
“Hmm, that’s right, you have a Visage with you, do you not?”
“I do. Verus Bahamut.” the Elder furrows his brow at the name. “I’m sure we can take care of anything down in the chasm.

“Hmmm…” seems he’s actually thinking about it. “You’re a strong kid, Quinn, the strongest in this village perhaps just because of your ability.” the old codger downs half the mug in one gesture. It’s unreal how much alcohol tolerance these stout people have. “Though I’m not sure…”

“Elder.” you go back through the ‘dream’ that you had about the future of the town. How you went into Alabaster to get help but received none. “I had a dream about the future. One year from now, Orndirk will be laid to waste by the Miasma coming from the Orndirk Chasm. It won’t hold as long as you think it will.” The images of the townspeople transforming into a monster. The image of killing Chelsea’s mother in front of her as she turned Adrift. Her screaming “I hate you! I HATE YOU!” as you tried to help her escape her fate. A stake twists in your heart. You look down at your own two hands. They close. They reopen. Yes, that dream was no dream. It was the sight of the future if you walked down the wrong path.

“I see.” he doesn’t question your words. The only thing he does is take a good look into your eyes. ‘Are you telling the truth?’.

You look back at him with a steady eye.

“Hahaha!” the dwarf pats you on the back, “Your parents didn’t raise a liar.”

“No, they didn’t, Elder.” you can’t help but smile at his understanding. “Alright then, let me give you a map of the chasm before we boarded it up.” The Orndirk Chasm you used to be mined for ore before it had been sealed up. “Mmmmm, ahah, here.” the old man shuffles through mounds and mounds of papers in the corner of the room. When he finds what he’s looking for he walks over to give it to you.

Now that you had the map, you should be able to explore the dungeon without hindrance.

“Thank you, Elder!” you take another drink of the ale before getting up from your seat.

You do your best to stomach the burning liquid from the mug as to not insult your host. You slide some of it to Verus Bahamut to see if he liked the taste (he didn’t). The Elder of the village has a hearty laugh as you go on your way to Orndirk Chasm.

The journey out of the village is an easy one. The Chasm is right outside, burrowed deep into the mountain. You enter with the mission to stop something before it even has the chance to happen.

Music - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LVrLfwNKqU

The cavern is still the same danky gray-blue color as its always been. You used to play here at the entrance as a child. It was by yourself, though, since no one ever conversed with you outside of the adults and your own parents. You’d often watch the men walk down into the depths to mine whatever it is they mined. When they went down, they’d be singing songs about the world, about their feelings, about anything that worried them just to ease their pain of it. Could that be why you liked writing what you wrote? Because it reminds you of your childhood? Yes, you think so.

It feels cold but not cold enough that you need to bundle yourself up too much. The cave itself smells like new-day rain. It’s really hard to imagine that this place was going to be the sight of a terrible Miasma drain.

Can we use Bahamut to light a torch? Also let's keep away from the Water... it's probably the worse place to be with a Fire Elemental as our sole Visage.
>>
“Verus, light my way, please.” your Visage appears above you with its mouth sprawling out a steady stream of red. It’s enough to light the path in front of you. Now you can see everything.

“Hmm…” you walk into the illuminated cove to see … oh yes, there is a gigantic mutated spider sitting there ready to pounce on you. “Okay, no no!” you leap back to avoid its first string with its fangs. Verus sprays a fume at the ground in front of you, offering you a chance to escape.

You take this opportunity to confront the monstrous spider. Bahamut quickly pushes you out of the way from another one of its lunge attacks. That was the last straw. You pull out the halberd. Instead of the spider lunging at you, you lunge at the spider in hopes of stabbing the sucker right between his many eyes.

“Ssss!” it starts to sway back and forth.

Yes, this thing was annoying.

You throw your body back to avoid the third lunge attack. You set your first foot forward for lunging counter attack. The tip of the spear scrapes the bugs ‘back’ as it pulls away just as you did. This fight is already going to be annoying.

The spider goes up into the air for a pounce. Immediately the head of the halberd pierces through the thorax. “Sssssss.” strange goop lands on the ground. This puts the Adrift Spider in a very terrible place since you’re able to do another attack.

>Follow up (No repercussions)

“Bahamut!” you throw the monster bug off the tip of your weapon. Now it’s floating through the air, coming closer and closer to the ground as it reaches the apex of its arch. The dragon Visage breathes out an immense spurring flame that devours the bug while still in midair. The charred arachnid falls to the ground. You bend down to grab it by the head.

Even though it had a little bit of fight in it, you still crush its head completely with your own hand. This causes it to transform into crystalline Miasma that flows into your own body.
