Your trip westwards takes the better part of the day.

Unfortunately, without any proper roads, a wagon can only go so fast before the wheels break, so you cannot exploit the full advantage of Tia's speed. Still, you make way faster than any normal vehicle would (even if not by much).

You cross the plains and green-covered hills of southern Tianna without a problem, using Dancing Smoke volcano as a reference point, and pass by Azure Lake in the late afternoon.

The river goes all the way down the valley, forming another lake which wasn't there before you pushed back the Wyld... you should start naming all the new terrain features, or get someone to do so.

You think about it for a moment as you climb down the hills alongside the river's current: this land is new. Literally. It didn't exist a few days back.

A woodland, fairly thick in points, of tall, broad-leafed trees spreads to the south. You've never seen that kind of tree before, and you wonder if it's a normal plant indigenous to the East or a species born of the Wyld and now adopted into Creation.
A large streak of black, jagged rock and grey ash slashes the green valleys, like an ugly scar left by the lava flood. Despite its appearance, you know that that land will quickly become fertile again.

Just past the second lake, along the river's final stretch towards the sea, you come across what's left of the Wyldland: a thick swamp by the sea, almost concealed by thick, persistent fog. The border between Creation and Wyld is very sharp there. Somewhere inside that land of chaos is Silk's palace.

South of the river, instead, the coast is a beautiful, almost idyllic beach with a long stretch of beautiful golden sand separating the land from the sea. Just past that beach and a short stretch of water, you can see an island, just as beautiful, so close you could just swim to there... maybe even walk? During low tides, the water might be shallow enough.

And all this land is, as far as mortals go, uninhabited yet hospitable and rich.

Humans have the tendency to colonize any place and fill up any niche where they can prosper, or even just survive. Your own motherland's existence, Gem, is a proof of that indomitable spirit. You're sure that you'll just need to set things up properly and spread word the right way, and people will start coming, build cities and villages, sow fields, cut and plant trees, lay down roads...

Along the way, you discussed of this and other matters with your companions. You came here with Regis, your butler. Millian Lightcloud, your maid (courtesy of Amata). Running Swallow, a wandering martial artist who wish to follow you to learn and test both himself and yourself. and Zareen Inofu, an ambitious and skilled Dragon-Blooded who believes that you will be able to provide her with the place in the sun, pun not intended, that misfortune and society has denied her.

(Of course, there's Tia too, but she's been pulling the wagon.)

You think you got to know your two new followers a bit better. You brought them up to date with the latest events in Tianna and explained them your plans for the future, as far as you have them.

Now, as the sun is starting to set and your wagon and party is approaching the coast, you need to decide what to do.

>Set up camp on the beach.
>Set up camp on the beach for everyone, but you'll sped the night visiting Silk.
>Head into the Wyld with the whole party, visiting Silk with everyone.

>Who are we?
Maka, an exiled noble recently Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. She's in the western city of Tianna as a guest of queen Amata (DB), an old friend. Abyssals are targeting the city for conquest, Lintha pirates have infiltrated it with spies and agents, and the Realm is probably planning to get rid of you. Enjoy.

>Solar? Zenith? I don't know Exalted...
This quest is as newbie-friendly as possible, and I want it to work as a newbie's intro to Exalted. If you have ANY question, ask in thread. For the setting, google "1d4chan exalted".

>Archive?
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=zenith

>System?
Dicepool-like system. When performing an action, everyone rolls 1d10 when posting. the first X rolls are considered, where X is equal to attribute + ability. Yes, this means that the more people are posting, the stronger Maka is, up to a limit of her attribute + ability.

>XP?
Attributes cost [current score x5] xp. Abilities cost [current score x3] xp, except Zenith costing [(current score x3) -1]. Charms cost 10 xp, except for Zenith-based charms (related to charisma and physical/mental fortitude) which cost 8 xp. At the end of every "session" (thread) you will be presented with a list of possible acquisitions.

>Twitter?

Also, I've been thinking about making a thread where, rather than progressing the story, I'd mostly be summing it up up to now, giving short NPC profiles and doing some Q&A, mostly to let new people catch up, especially people unused to Exalted. What are your opinions? (Please reply by quoting this post so I can track them more easily)

Sure, but there's a chance that anti quest grognards might take offense to the same quest taking up TWO threads on their precious tg.

As an aside, Zareen is from from the realm. So Zareen is her family name right? Naming conventions and what not.

"Say." Zareen doesn't seem all that convinced, as you ford the river. "I get that you somehow trust this fae, but is this going to be safe?"

"Absolutely." You reassure her as you head into the thick fog hanging around the swamp.

"If she tries anything I'll stab her, you know?"

"She's not going to try anything, so don't stab anyone." You repeat.

"The fact that you adopted, rather than destroying, an enemy of Creation such as a Fair Folk just proves the Immaculate Faith right, doesn't it?" Running Swallow notes.

Your wagon, meanwhile, quickly gets stuck in the boggy ground.

"She's under my responsibility, and she's not going to harm anyone. Besides, better to have the Wyld under the control of someone who can manipulate it and keep it safe, than to leave it on its own." As you say so, the ground under the wheels of the wagon suddenly becomes hard and dry, forming a road cutting across the swamp. "See?" You reply smugly.

"I can only hope you're right."

You lose quickly track of time, but it must not take a lot of it to finally reach the white tower. With the battle damage repaired and cleaned up, it's much different than the way it was when you left it after the siege. Seems like Silk has gotten rid of most of the fortifications and defensive works.

You leave the wagon near the entrance, and Tia turns back human immediately, cracking her neck and spine tiredly. "Wow, that was boring."

"Sorry to use you like this." You pat her head in thanks.

"I don't mind you riding me, but pulling a wagon is a different thing. You should get normal horses or another vehicle." She protests.

You have no idea if her innuendo as planned or completely accidental. Probably the latter.

Your new followers seem suitably impressed by the palace, by the way.

On the door, Silk welcomes you. She seems to have sort of grown since you last left her. She's bigger, almost as tall as you, and looks generally shiny and healthy.

"Hello, Maka." She stretches a tentacle out of her mass and touches your hand in something that must be like a handshake for her. "I've missed you."

"I've been away for a while." You apologize. Silk must be really restraining herself, considering that last time you met her after a short time apart, she almost absorbed you. "Here, let me introduce you to Zareen Inofu and Running Swallow."

Every part of Zareen's body is tense in a way that says 'do that tentacle thing with me and I'll punch you'. While not that hostile, Swallow's posture is also highly suspicious.

After the obligatory round of greetings (Millian is particularly spooked, but gets used to it quickly) and showing around the palace (Silk refurbished it quite nicely, though sh still doesn't understand a lot of fundamental concepts about human furniture leading to a few hilarious missteps that thankfully you help her correct), Silks explains the situation:

"I've had to use most of the gossamer I could make and gather these last days to repair and renovate the palace and establish my control on the Wyld." She sounds a bit sorry. "So there's not much left for now. I wanted to create some servants, but I couldn't do that either."

"Is it that slow to generate?" You wonder.

"It would be a lot better if I had humans to play around with all the time."

You KNOW she doesn't mean that in a bad way, but... well, hearing a Fair Folk say that? It sounds bad no mater what she actually means.

"There's no one around here, though. If people start living here, we can talk about it." You brush the problem aside for now. "Any other news? Anything happened?"

"Yaraon told me wants a word with you, a couple of days ago." The goo-like fae informs you. "You'll probably have to ride out into his plains because he said he can't move from his domain."

(Social + Zenith = 2 4 9 4 10 2 5 = 3 successes)

It takes a bit for Millian, Zareen and Swallow to get adjusted to the strange environment of a fae palace, even though it has been specifically made as human-friendly as possible. Still, once they got used to it, hey start to relax. There are no servants, unlike Tianna, but the place is comfortable, or can be made so easily, and each of them has his or her own room where to rest.

As for yourself, even though you're not particularly tired and the night is still young, you retire to your room with Tia and Silk. You spend the night telling her what happened in Tianna, but mostly just bonding and being there for her. Besides, skinship with Silk is extremely pleasant, given how fresh and soft she is to the touch.

You also use this time to understand better how Silk changed and how she relates to you, and you conclude that she is more similar to a particularly affectionate cat than to a dog, as far as pets go. She respects you and loves you, clearly happy to just be with you, but she is maintaining a certain independent spirit that doesn't make her completely dependent on you.

That's a bit to your advantage, after all. Being bound to the wyld, she's not very "mobile", so making her completely dependent on you would be troublesome for both of you. It's better for you if she can spend time on her own and "guard the fort", though, yes, you also do need to spend some time with her, like a good owner.

After a very pleasant and relaxing night spent together, you wake up to Millian and Regis bringing breakfast.

One thing Silk needs to learn is how to replicate human food, probably. Bread that tastes like chicken and tea with the aroma of coffee is just wrong, even if it IS very good chicken and coffee. Also, fruits are NOT perfect spheres, especially not bananas. But still, it's good food (even though Swallow seems especially suspicious of it).

Mental + Twilight = 10 8 8 5 = 4 successes

Leaving everyone in the white tower to keep company to Silk, you leave on foot, on your own, heading for the coast.

Deciding to try and test your endurance, you cover the distance running. Since you've learned to sustain yourself with some of your Essence, you're still trying to get a good idea of what you've become able to do.

You leave the wyld behind you and head out into the sun. It's early morning, and the air is cool and fresh. Diving in the river, you swim downstream until you end in the sea, and from there you head towards the island just off the coast.

It doesn't take you more than a couple of hours to cover the distance, which is somewhere around ten kilometers (probably, you're not terribly good at guessing distances). As you surface and climb up on the golden shores of the small, round island in the middle of the sea, you realize you don't feel tired at all. You could probably swim back to the river and then back here other two or three times, or push yourself harder and swim even faster.

That's a bit unnatural. It's going to take a while to get used to it.

Your thoughts are interrupted by a familiar head popping out of the water near to you.

"We thought you had forgotten your promise." Flow says.

"I was kept busy for a bit, but came back here as soon as I could." You apologize, adding: "I wouldn't forget a promise. And you did your part in the battle against the Wyld, you deserve your reward.

A smile spreads on her lips.

You're familiar with western sea lore enough by now to know what her deal is. Well, hr and all the spirits in her court, which the westerners call Nymphs. You spent some time in Tianna reading up on them.

They are known to be lustful and vain, though quite skilled at hiding it, and also quite fond of luring or dragging seamen to the bottom of the ocean as lovers. None of them return, usually, and you doubt they survive for long: as playful and innocent they look, the nymphs never release anyone and the only value they attach to human life is how much it can keep them entertained.

Some wealthy and powerful individuals, gods, exalted or mortal, manage to obtain nymphs as prized possessions of their harems, and indeed a nymph might be kept under control, as long as she is kept amused and satisfied.
They bore and tire easily, though, especially with mortals, and the result is often messy.

You didn't approve of Dancing Smoke's desire for human sacrifice, but sea spirits as Flow and her court, you've found out, might be just as bad if not worse, as they apparently make their own, without waiting for someone's offering.

"Will you come in the sea to play with us?" Flow pleasantly asks, with a smile.

Before reading up on them, you would've thought nothing of that invite, but now you have to wonder how many times she must've asked that to someone. And how it played out.

If you were still a mortal, now it would be the time to be afraid of what that pleasant smile might be hiding.

Since you now have a great deal of power and charm at your command, though, you instead wonder how you should be using it.

Physical + Zenith = 4 1 6 10 5 10 2 = 4 successes

You leave your tabard on the shore (hoping no one will steal it this time!) and gently slide back in the water, into the arms of the ocean.

You can breathe. You're gently dragged down by a hundred invisible hands, pushed by the current. The flow of cold and hot water on your skin plays tricks with your senses. You almost feel drugged by the peaceful sensation...

You shake yourself back awake. You're at the bottom of the ocean, yet not too deep, as you can still see the pale glow of the surface far above you. Even though you're immersed that deep, the pressure on yous is as light as you'd feel in the surface.

"Thank you..." You feel a chorus of voices swimming around you, touching you everywhere, playing with you. "Your body is so beautiful." "So strong" "So noble and proud" "It's impressive." "Ehehe, I like it." "Yes... yes." "Oh, oh, can we keep you?" "Wouldn't you mind staying with us a few days more? Just one might..." "...yes, not be enough." "For all the things we want to do with you." "To you."

The nymphs are forcefully passionate, and you oblige them in every way. You are able to easily match their energy and stamina (which is really no match for what Tia puts you through every night). But, as the hours pass and your senses become sharper and better used to the underwater environment and learn to guess their bodies despite their transparent nature, you realize that even one of them could easily completely overpower and destroy just about any mortal, mentally, emotionally and physically. And they keep swarming around you, new ones taking the place of their exhausted comrades endlessly.

Still, you can keep up with them. Once you've gotten intimate enough with the entire court (which you've learned being 30 individuals, including Flow), you start asking questions.

"So, please tell me... do you bring mortal sailors down to your realm, to have fun with them like this, as well?"

Assure them that we fully intend to uphold our bargain, buuut
>Firmly explain to them that even though they might be spirits you will not tolerate them drowning sailors for their own amusement.
It isn't even denying them fun. Just learn to value, or at least appear to value, human life more. If they do that, they'll have a LOT more people interested in having fun with them, especially since their island is so close to our up and coming kingdom. That, more than anything, means we have to lay some ground rules.
>>
"Yes..." "Yes, but no one was as amazing as you!" "You're something out of this world."

"...What about them? Where are they now?"

"Oh, they're not as good as you." "Yes, they break easily." "And those that don't just get boring after a while." "Yes, they get tired and can't keep up even with one of us." "So we let them go."

You keep your mind focused despite all the touches gently flowing on your body simultaneously, filling your brain with pangs of distracting, expert pleasure. "By letting them go... you mean you let them go in the sea, right?"

"Yes. Why?" "Who cares. It's boring." "Let's talk about you, instead. Can you do that thing again?" "What, that?" "Yes, that. That was amazing." "No fair! I want to do it, too!"

"You realize... that they drown, right?"

"Yes, so?" "Well, they're not interesting anymore." "Who cares?"

...They're not being dishonest with you, or even trying to lie to you: they really think absolutely nothing of the sailors they drag down except as momentary diversions, and then they remove the blessing that lets them breathe underwater and leave them to drown and be crushed by pressure without a care in the world.

These spirits are elementals, after all. They're quite alien to human life. What should you do?

Suggest a deal whereby if they take care release anyone they take into your lands alive, You'll come down and spend a day with them on a regular schedule - Once a month, perhaps.

If we can transition that into sort of like an offering festival, once we've got a community here, that would be ideal. Say, a coming-of-age ceremony where young men and women spend a night with the court (under the absolute proviso that they're returned to shore unharmed).

If they deliver them back to shore, a LOT more people would be willing to come visit, and with more people, you're sure to get a lot more interesting ones too - or at least enough to make them collectively interesting. So, the diplomatic solution is basically just to let them get to the surface before removing their blessing of air, then push them to shore with a current.

It really will help.

> try a diplomatic solution
You know people are afraid of you and it is something mortals look uppon as quite evil, killing people and all that.

If you could get them to surface or somewhere where they can live and tell the tales they would not associate you with death and bad things for them, but talk to people about the great passion you have shown, and the fact that you were caring enough to bring them to safety once they had performed what they could. With this many daredevils and other passionate or people out to proove themselves might come to you knowingly to test their prowes and ability to entertain against your appetite and stamina for it.

Sure some might not come or want to leave after some time before you got everything out of them but others will come most likely if the mortals keep spreading the word and knowledge of your benevolance and how safe the waters are.

I would propose you enter another deal with me. Keep people of my new lands and others that are not hostile to it alive if they are about to drown, and perhaps bring them to a safespot where the can be rescued and i will constantly remeber people of your benevolence, your glorious and passionate presence and the safety and care you ensure for people that come to your waters in friendship.

Many would fancy süending time with you i belive, but are affraid because afterwards death is a certainty.

With that gone, who knows how much entertainment you could get.

[Inspired Performance Style]
[Essence: 4/5]
(Physical + Zenith + IPP = 6 10 7 3 10 3 4 8 10 2 = 8 successes)

As you spend your day in the nymph's embrace, you slowly put together a plan. To work, though, it requires you to not just prove a good partner, but to give them the absolute best that they could ever experience. To blow their minds. To make them addicted to you.

You can do that. Taking charge, you assault them with all your body is capable of.

The hours pass slowly, and at the end of the 25 hours, the situation is, probably, the exact opposite of what they had expected: 30 nymphs lie broken and exhausted at your feet, sprawled on the ocean floor, left utterly speechless by your performance.

You, on the other hand, are not even tired, and you make no mystery of it, boasting to them: "What, you're already done? I could go for another week or so. Are you sure we can't continue?"

"No... No more..." "We... we can't..." "A... amazing..." "..." A chorus of murmurs rise from the shapeless pile of water elementals.

"So, you liked it?" You sit down.

A vague and incomprehensible, but strongly positive mumbling echoes throughout the ocean.

"Now, listen to me: Even if you don't care about what humans want or think... I do. And the lovers you drag to the bottom of the ocean to pleasure you and entertain you do not want to drown. They want to return to surface."

"W...who cares about them anymore..." "...yes, we have you..."

"But I'm not going to stay here any longer. The day is over."

"...You... you're not going to leave..."

"Didn't you have enough? You can barely speak." You laugh. "Besides, what are you going to do? DROWN me?"

Probably wanting to teach you a lesson, the malicious nymphs withdraw their blessing, leaving you exposed to the full effects of your environment. You feel the crushing pressure and air leaves your lungs, instantly flooded with water.

"You... how do you..." "How can..."

"I'm an Exalted of the Unconquered Sun."

So we are ploting a water court elemtal atraction.

Spend time with nymphs and then be able to live afterwards. A lot of excentric or people of some serious appetites or boasting needs will come to our island so we can have buisneses to cater to them and tax them.

Couple this with say the nubile festival and in exchange we would get saftey of our waterways for our people and freinds against drowning or shark or monster eating them, aid against hostiles, and perhaps a boost to productivity of sea and river related industries, payable in entertainemnt ba the user/owner on a case by case basis.

Not a bad idea, a miller could say have his kids or himself entertain the nymphs a day or hire out a professional entertainer, and the nymphs would say speed up the flow of water to the wheel of the mill for say a week or month or so.However they can convert entertainment to effort something like that

A captain could have his crew try to entertain them or pay a professional and have his ship be faster in the courts waters, a fisher could do the same for a better catch.

On the military side they would have to report every ship passing through their waters and perhaps a early friend or foe system of chalanges and stuff, and perhaps recognition, so we would have them act as sensors to our coast guard, and perhaps aid in military sea action in their waters in support to our own or our allies , in exchange for our side of tianna and our cult promoting their benevolnace and such.

Perhaps also acceptance to participate in any civil engineering projects we undertace with water for our continous support and care for their entertainment flow, we would be after all not only promote but attract entertainers for them and perhaps even provide them after nymph time support and such, managing a timetable for entertainers and listing and managing a rotation if there are none once it gets going. "Now, listen to me. I will offer you a great chance. Accept it, and I will come and visit you again. Reject it, and we will be enemies."

The carpet of water elementals mumbles something that could be seen as consent, and you continue.

"Eeeh..." "It's a hassle..." "It's boring..."

"Think about it, you idiots. If people can spend time with you without dying afterwards, a lot more people from the surface world will want to. They might even travel long distances to see you. It would be a vast variety of interesting people from all over Creation. Think long-term."

They mutter among themselves, but seem impressed by the idea. What is common sense to you might well be a world-changing revelation to them, after all.

"People would love you for it. You would receive not just visitors, but prayer and sacrifice. It could also become a rite of initiation for adulthood when people come and settle these shores. All sorts of people would be ready to satisfy your wishes if you do as I say. "Well, we can do that only near the coast." "But okay." "Anything beyond it's Father Ocean's territory." "But here we can do it." "If the captain's cute and-" "Yeah we get it."

"Well." You stand up. "For now, consider my performance an advance payment for giving good sea to my ships and people. And warn me or them if there are bad guys in our shore waters. I'll renew it every now and then." You wink and smile. "We have a deal?"

"We do~" The mass of elementals slowly dematerializes, melting in the ocean and leaving you alone again... Yet, now, you have the feeling that the sea has become a less hostile place. You swim underwater, back to the mainland's coast. As you surface, you suddenly feel a strange feeling in your gut, and instinctively bend over and vomit two lungfuls of seawater.

"...oh, right." You mumble, trying to keep your stomach straight. "...I was breathing that." Some more coughing and deep breathes later and you head back towards Silk's castle. It's about late morning, and a full day seems to have, in fact, passed.

There you're welcomed back by everyone waiting for you (especially Tia who has her usual "I haven't seen you in SO LONG IT FELT LIKE YOU WERE GONE FOREVER" crisis). After a good lunch together and telling the tale of your exploits, you gauge their reactions.

You should probably conclude Regis' training.

Silk's palace doesn't have an appropriate facility, but there's plenty of large, spacious rooms and corridors. you get him changed in a martial arts kimono that's easy to move in and tell him to get ready.

There's not much to do around, so everyone else just follows you to assist to the training.

You put him through a lot of physical training and you don't think he has any more space for improvement there: despite his small size and young age, he has put on some pretty impressive muscles (that are however evident only without clothes: you noticed Millian getting something longer than a sneak peek at him changing, but decided not to say anything for the moment).

He's probably about as strong and physically fit as you'd be without using charms, and you quickly test that out with a short best-2-of-3 round of arm wrestling with him, with Silk as referee. Despite shorter arms which mean less leverage, he manages to win once against you and generally gives you a tough time.

So, what are you going to train him on?

You start by teaching him some basis of combat. Where to look at in an opponent, stance, guard, weak points of the human body.

Being small, even though he is amazingly strong by now, his big advantage is agility and small body area, so you show him a few moves of unarmed combat such as strikes, but focus on holds and throws since he'll be able to exploit them better.

You have Silk make for him a long cutlass from what little Gossamer she has left, and the final product is of course a weapon of beautiful make and finest quality. You get him to try it out, and spend the rest of the evening sparring with him.

As usual, she learns quickly and over the course of his training even manages to land a few blows on you.

At the end of the training session, exhausted, he collapses on a sofa. As Millian brings him a much-deserved lemonade, he comments: "I... I never thought it would be this easy."

"Me neither." is Swallow's reply, full of suspicion.

"It's not." You explain. "Not normally. I'm making it that easy for him."

"You can do that?" The martial artist asks.

"Yes. by weaving Essence into someone's body, I can make it easier and faster for him to learn some skills."

"You could make yourself an army with that." He replies, impressed. "Is that your aim?"

I expect they're thinking long-term. A large, living population produces a lot more ghosts and grave goods in the long term than killing them all. Murdering everyone for a Shadowland makes a short-term gain for a long-term loss.

Basically, it means their boss is smart, rather than bored/lazy/stupid.

At any rate, there's SURE to be a small Shadowland somewhere in Tianna. A haunted house or graveyard or something. We really need to visit the underworld and see what Shadow Tianna is like. For all we know, it's a massive metropolis with a hundred times Tianna's living population, a major blood sea trade port. After all, Tianna used to be major enough to have a first age armory with full artillery pieces back in the day.

I'm convinced that answers to the Abyssal questions lie in Tianna's Underworld mirror.

I mean, they must want SOMETHING. There's almost certainly a mirror of Tianna, and cities with old histories tend to have massive Underworld versions. It would make a lot of sense - and a living population above is very important for positive population growth among the ghosts and minor sacrifices to fuel the grave good economy.

Hell, there isn't even anything evil about it. It would be GREAT to make some kind of alliance with whomever is ruling the ghostly side of Tianna.

>>31622714
Our priestess probably knows where some haunted houses are, and I'm sure Amata keeps close tabs on it. We just want to make sure we bring someone with decent Lore/Occult/Twilight/Air with us - which is, again, probably our priestess or Amata.

You have dinner together, spend some time in idle chatter with everyone, and go to bed early. Amata should be arriving sometime tomorrow, anyway.

After just a few minutes in bed with Tia and Silk, you hear the door opening, and Zareen enters.

"I- oh. Sorry for disturbing you, I guess." She apologizes, not sounding very sorry. "...Really, you're... I don't know. Didn't you just say you've had a full day of sexual marathon with a full court of thirty nymphs? Who are already infamous for their endless appetite and stamina? And now you're already in bed with TWO other people again?"

Tia looks at her, not understanding the point. "...what's the problem?"

You smile. "I also told you that i said to them that I could have been going on for another week? That wasn't a boast."

"She was probably being modest there." Silk giggles.

"What?" Tia gives her a lewd look. "You want to test the Maka?"

...why that "the", you wonder.

"...What did you want to ask me?" You question her. She must've had a reason to come to your bedroom. Judging by her reaction, she probably didn't expect to see Tia and Silk there too.

"I, uh." She hesitates a bit, but then comes clean. "...Alright, I'll admit it. I've been a long time without, you know. A man. Or a woman. I... I don't like going to brothels or places like that. Bad memories."

>Sure, come join us. The more the merrier.

Does Tianna have any noteworthy ancestor cults? Their family shrine room is probably a minor Shadowland. We could pretty easily step from a room in a humble estate into the atrium of the palace of a ghostly dynasty that way. Nothing out of place. The dead are given their just consideration and worship rites, which are probably more than they'd get in the Realm, but nothing BIG. There are several cemeteries in Tianna. "Girls, can I leave you with each other for tonight? I'd like to spend some time alone with Zareen."

Tia and Silk groan simultaneously. "But you've been away A WHOLE DAY!" The Lunar protests. She loudly pretends to cry and roll into Silk's arms/tentacles/whatever: "Bo ho hoo, my wife has been seduced." "There, there. Have faith in her."

"Um. I don't mind, if the two of them are alright with me-" Zareen was about to say, but she's interrupted by a blue tentacle shooting out of the bed and dragging her in. "-I, uh, okay."

You continue all night.

"I'm not going to ask if you're ALREADY awake or you're STILL awake." Regis scolds you as he carries the breakfast tray in your room. "Just next time inform us on exactly how many people are sleeping in each room, okay?" He sets it down on the table with a sigh. "That would save us some time. Let me go and get Miss Zareen's breakfast too."

"Wouldn't we save time if we all always slept in the same bed?" Tia proposes.

Regis just rolls his eyes and leaves, returning after a couple of minutes with the other breakfast tray. "Anyway, if you're quite finished for tonight, there's a strange boat who can be seen approaching from the south, moving along the shore."

Making a supreme effort of willpower you manage to let go of Zareen's narrow, muscular waist and crawl out of the bed, approaching the window. "What kind of strange boat?"

"Never seen it. It has a low hull, fairly short, no rowers." He explains. "You might want to get dressed."

"Well, the pirates' ships don't have rowers normally, though they can put out oars if they need to."

"No, this ship has a lot of sails. Square, triangular..."

You reach the window and indeed see such a sort of ship sailing up the river almost effortlessly.

"Is it magical?"

"It doesn't seem like it." You squint. "It seems all wood and cloth and rope."

You immediately go and check, together with Tia, Swallow and Zareen, leaving the Wyldland and reaching the rivers's shore just as the ship drops anchor and a few members of its crew disembark and pull it closer to the shore with ropes.

Right afterwards, you see Amata disembarking as well, greeting you with a heartfelt hug.

"Everything went fine, I hope?" She asks.

"Better than fine! I managed to persuade the Nymphs to stop drowning people, and instead accept prayer and in exchange help any human working with the sea, like sailors and fishermen." You explain.

"I hope it'll stick. They have really short attention spans and get bored really easily."

"Don't worry, I'm sure they won't forget it easily." You grin. "But, what's with this ship? Is it Mikahil's? I've never seen a vessel like this. Granted, I'm from Gem. But still."

"No, you're right, there aren't many ships designed like this. It's impressive, isn't it?" She smiles. "It's apparently based on a Guild design, but vastly improved."

"Is it magitech, or...?" Zareen wonders.

"No, it's just a different way of building ships. It doesn't use any kind of weird magic or technology. But I think it's better if Mikahil explains it to you." She motions to the side as your old friend Mikahil also leaps off the boat.

"Long time no see, Maka." He waves to you. "Well, it wasn't that long."

"Still, it's nice to see you again. Is all of your off-island business taken care of?" You wonder.

"It never is." He replies cryptically. "But for now it's all smooth sailing, literally and figuratively." He gestures at the sea just behind him, past the river. "...say, Maka, why is the sea a perfectly calm and still mirror of water even though there's some wind?"

That's about when a large cheetah leaps down from the ship and lands next to you, catching a bit by surprise.

"Oh. Um." You relax a bit noticing that the animal seems to have a collar.

"Yes, let me introduce to you Five. Five, this is Maka."

The animal just gives you a quick look before proceeding to ignore you, instead staring into the distance. Then, after a few seconds, it leaves.

The Eclipse smiles. "...She's always like this. Just ignore her."

"Even big cats are still cats at heart, right?" You notice, following the cheetah with your eyes as it leaps into the thick grass and disappears. "So, this ship...?"

"Came from the genius of Valeriana Kava." He explains.

"Right, this person you've mentioned who can help me out with building manses." You nod. "Is she a Solar?"

"Yes. A Twilight. The caste of scholars, inventors and sorcerors. She's brilliant, just..." He lowers his voice a bit. "She's a very nice girl, just a bit hard to deal with sometimes. You know, got to be patient with her. Sometimes she just says things without thinking them through."

You eye the ship. "...Is she on board?"

"She was, but wanted to leave and stop by your demesne along the way."

"Before meeting me?" That sounds weird.

"She said something about it being very interesting and basically jumped off the ship."

"She sounds like a handful."

"Sometimes she is, but she more than makes up for it in a lot of ways." He explains. "Like I said, she's really brilliant, and very kind. And, we've been thinking..."

Amata nods. "Tell her, Mikahil."

You stop as Mikahil outs out a hand and massages his temples with the other. "...Okay, I apologize. I haven't been clear enough."

Meanwhile Amata is laughing.

"...What I meant is that as we Solars are beginning to reappear and reincarnate in this world, we're facing distrust and hostility. We could invest our energies in working together, since, by nature, each of us will specialize in the skills and powers associated with its caste." He explains. "So... since you are becoming effectively head of a kingdom, while being open about your nature as a Solar..."

"Yes, I thought about it." You nod. "That other Solars might want to come to Tianna after this, once the word spreads. Seeking a safe haven, a place where to further their aims, or a playground."

"...Yes, we have no guarantees that they will not want to pull the rug from under our feet. Considering the amount of power a Solar wields, one could manage to do a lot of damage."

"True." You nod. "So, what's on your mind?"

"For now? I'm making you an offer. I'll stay in Tianna with you. I have skills, knowledge and powers you don't, and you have ones that I don't. Together, we can accomplish a lot more. I'd like to work together with you on this. And, if fate smiles upon us, gain other Solars around us to form the core of a Solar-ruled nation here in Tianna."

Solars, lunars and even terrestrials can get jobs according to their willingnes to get it done and availability like everyone else.

Lets look like a right oportunistic entity that does not care about all that.

This way we avoid the conotations of Realm Smash and the end of the first age and all that...

That depends a lot on the Solars in question. If they're more people like Mikahil here, then sure.

We do need to make sure each other doesn't start going First Age, though.

Indeed.

There's a difference between taking risks and fucking over your closest ally and fiance by doing something that feels far too similar to what ended with your own family being sold into slavery to be comfortable.

Consider Maka's personal history and intimacies for a moment.
>>
"...I have nothing against the idea of a Circle, and it could be a good first step towards a world where the Solars have a place and a role in it. Actually, it IS a good idea. Together we'll be able to accomplish much more than separately. And maybe this will be the seed from which a new Realm will be born. Hopefully a better one."

He nods.

"But one thing needs to be clear. I'm going to say it to you, but I'll repeat this to whoever asks: Tianna has two queens. Me and Amata." You glance sideways at Tia. "...And I guess Tia since, well, we WILL be married as well. But that's it. Whoever wants my help or wants to be a part of Tianna will first have to accept that."

He nods. "Perfectly understandable. I don't really have any interest in ruling anything, actually. Tianna is yours, girls."

That's a good question to ask. "...So what interest do you have?" You wonder. "What are you in all this for?"

He smiles. "I'll tell you later when we'll be alone." He says prudently. "Nor now, what you say we go and I introduce my friend to you?"

Would it be just to swipe Amatas and our Kingdoms from under our feet? You will not we have been fighting hostis humanis generis and have been reforming them if we could.

We did not take over Tianna or something the like.

We cannot stand by and let Solars run roughshod.

We were told to show JUSTICE! and JUSTICE cares not if you are Solar, Lunar, Mortal or Fairfolk. the justice of our boot will find you!

It was unclear which points, exactly, were being okayed. A nod is not the same thing as say, "Yes, remove my family from the position of power we've had for centuries and generations." it just means she supports the idea of us forming a circle. Available charms are:

Husband-Seducing Demon Dance (1 Ess. A performance you give causes anyone seeing it to instantly gain a positive feeling for you (love, respect, starry-eyed admiration, etc))
Respect-Commanding Attitude (1 Ess, Scene. Interrupts everyone and anything going on, in order to deliver a statement that will be heard)
Terrifying Glorious Presence (upgrades Majestic Radiant Presence: on top of its effect, all social attacks have 1 automatic success)
Phantom-Conjuring Performance (Perm. can fashion phantasmagorical images and sounds from your own Anima)

Also a lot of your social backgrounds are now capped at your Social score. You might want to consider increasing it if you plan on letting your backgrounds grow.

Mikahil and Valeriana's arrivals change things. With them around we do not have to focus on Eclispe and Twilight anymore, and we can focus on raising Zenith and Social skills, with maybe a bit of Dawn and Night.

Can we pick up any special charms pertaining to our bond with our Lunar Mate the way Tia has one for caring for us?
>>
>>31624768
True, and we also effectively have a very high backing due to our position as effective queen. And followers and resources a 5+ in some ways for the same reasons. Of course, the problem is that exalts can acquire resources and followers 6 or more pretty easily.

>>
>>31624794
That's because many Lunar powers are specifically designed towards "protecting [something]". It's how Lunars are built. Lunars have some similar charms, but are more geared towards general ideas, ideals and concepts.

Also, the Lunar Mate system is a one-way link that goes from the lunar to the solar, there's no connection going the other way. At least, none that is enforced by the link.

Yea. Although by the time the Wyld hunt comes to us there might be some bronze faction sidereals in there.

Good thing that the head of the convection of water (that's the Sidereal's HQ in the west) has forbidden the Sidereal's that work there from joining in the Wyld hunt.

But then again. EF's setting could be different.
>>
Rolled 2

>>31624858
Right, so, is there some way we could invent a charm that lets us make the link mutual, and then use it for something? Yes, I am suggesting inventing a custom charm that causes the same musical bond towards Tia that she feels towards us.
>>
>>31624814
It's basically too late for the Wyld Hunt to effectively take us down without completely destabilizing the country, yes.
>>
>>31624909
Yes.
>>
Rolled 6

>>31624877
To be fair, if they being airships and soulbreaker orbs, we're still fucked, and we're increasingly becoming a high-priority target who justifies that kind of response. Remember, their main advantage is infrastructure. They can afford the magitech, troops, and resources necessary to glass the whole damn island if we provoke them hard enough.
>>
>>31624909
Considering how much it overrides Tia's thought processes and decision-making this may not be the best idea for an even-handed ruler of nations.
>>
>>31624935
And how many soulbreaker orbs do they have? The Realm has neither the know-how nor the infrastructure to replace those, and with the Empress gone they're not going to have an easy time actually trying to use one. No Great House is going to trust any other to use that kind of power
>>
