You tense as you see the pirate ship heading for your vessel. The sailors nearby are all scrambling to prepare for the coming attack. Thinking quickly you dash to your cabin to get your weapon and equipment, meeting up with Lisa on the way. Afterwards you return to the deck, prepared for trouble.

Fortunately, the pirate ship hasn’t closed the distance yet, so you use the opportunity to take in your surroundings. You note many of the sailors have drawn swords and other weapons, and some seem to be forming a sort of defensive cluster around the lightning monster near the bow. You remember hearing that sailors often fed wild Wingulls to encourage them to stick with the ship and fight off threats to it, and there seem to be a number of the birds circling overhead. You also notice a few of the Machop that were helping around the ship are being outfitted with large metal gauntlets. The captain is near the stern of the ship, barking orders left and right.
Deciding to take a look at the enemy ship, you are unable to make out many details. However, attempting to visualize it with Aura provides you with some insight. You notice a rather dark cloud of aura hanging over the vessel, as well as another presence towards the bow. It’s different than that of the lightning monster on your ship, though if you had to describe it, you’d call it ‘grand’. The last presence you can sense seems to be a vague feeling of stability, almost like the opposite of the ocean.

As the ship continues to approach, you have a bit of time to decide where you want to make your stand.

"Lisa, head up and get a good position, I'm gonna help out over there," you order.

"Right," she replies, "Just be careful Ceil."

You head over to your position, placing yourself amongst the sailors. You make sure to position yourself towards the bow, just in case the sailors over there need help.

The next few moments are strangely calm, as the pirate ship slowly closes in. From the bow, you can just barely see it, but there seem to be ropes being throw towards the back of your ship to pull the two together. You see the sailors hack them off as fast as they can, but the effects are clear. The pirate ship manages to pull alongside your vessel, as ropes fly across the gap to pull the ships closer for boarding. You have a bit of a better look at what's going on. Some strange plant monsters with bell-shaped heads seem to be using vines to help drag the ships together. Overhead, the Wingull are starting to fight against a large flock of black bird monsters. You notice a strange purple slug monster on the bow of the pirate ship lobbing shooting off something, but your focus soon turns to the boarding action occurring.

The pirates throw down boards and swing across, while the sailors in front of you attempt to cut them down as best they can. However, some of the grass monsters are assisting in the charge, using their powers to help clear the path, and soon enough the pirates gain a foothold on the deck. Surveying the situation, you see a few others heading for the bow, but you also have enemies in front of you as well.

What's your plan of attack?
>Try to focus on the pirates in front of you with Riolu

You clench your glaive in hand, hoping to clear out as many of the attackers as possible. As you advance, Riolu rushes forward, leaping towards the nearest pirate. He brings his arms around, using the back plates to strike, the first hit knocks the man's sword aside, while the second slams into his shoulder. He falls to the ground, and you deliver a swift lunge to make certain. You turn to face another attacker, as Riolu assists on of the sailors by striking his opponent's legs. Your bought with your attacker goes nowhere, but as he slowly gets surrounded he backs off towards the main group.

As you advance, a large bolt from the bow of the ship catches your attention. Looking over, you notice that many of the sailors you saw earlier are no longer standing. You spy some sort of strange monster, but only for a moment. It looked like it was wearing a skull on its head.

Focusing back on your battle, the pirates have backed up somewhat to let the plant monsters supplement their ranks. Many of the sailors are having trouble striking them due to the whip-like vines the creatures are using. You notice that Riolu seems to have closed the gap and is currently fighting one of the creatures.

You also spot a strange purple cloud slowly drifting across from the other pirate ship. Occasionally, you see a solid object inside, though it's not very distinct.

What shall you do?

Riolu can handle himself, but you're worried about the purple cloud. You work your way over as it slowly floats over the deck. You notice some of the sailors nearby the cloud seem to be coughing when the gas washes over them. Concerned that it might be poison, you take out one of your Pecha berries to ensure you're prepared.

You keep your distance, while giving a few slashes and jabs with your glaive. It's fairly effective at clearing away some of the gas, giving you brief glimpses of the monster inside. It resembles a purple ball, with eyes and a mouth, although you also notice gas pouring out of vents on its surface, as well as a skull marking on it's underside.

You manage to keep from inhaling any of the gas as you continue to strike at the monster, although you don't feel as though you're doing much damage. Thanks to clearing away some of the smoke, you are able to react enough to dodge some of the sludge the thing tries to spit at you.

Suddenly, an arrow shaft springs from the creatures forehead, and it slowly sinks to the ground. The gas slowly begins to disperse, and one of the sailors takes the opportunity to punt the thing off of the deck. Looking up, you see Lisa firing arrows, meaning that was probably one of hers. She and the Wingull are doing fairly well at eliminating some of the black birds.

Returning across the deck, you notice far fewer sailors from your ship than there were earlier. Riolu runs up to you, a bit beat up but no worse for wear.

Riolu: HP 18/20

The pirates have managed to bolster their position at the middle of the ship. You also don't notice any lightning from the bow any more.

Whatever is happening towards the bow, it seems important. You prepare to cross the main deck to assist whoever is still left at the front.

You and Riolu begin working your way across, using your glaive to distract enemies for Riolu to take out their legs. Occasionally however, you receive a harsh lash from a grass monster. Riolu gets the worst of it, due to also having to fight of the occasional creature that sneaks forward.

Ceil HP: 7/10

Riolu HP: 13/20

Eventually, you arrive near the front of the ship, where there are still a handful of sailors remaining. They seem to be putting out a strong defense, although it's their opponent who catches your attention. It's the same monster you caught a glimpse of earlier, some strange reptile with a skull helmet and a thick club made of bone. Next to him stands a rather tall man in a long coat with a cutlass, and a handful of pirates fight alongside them. You watch as the monster expertly throws its bone in a wide arc, striking one of the sailors in the shoulder, you watch with relief as it flies out toward the sea, but relief changes to panic as the projectile seems to spin around and return to its thrower, knocking out the sailor in the process.

As you stare on you catch the eyes of the man in the long coat, who seems to glare at you whilst grinning.

You decide to help out some of the sailors nearby. Riolu seems to pick up on your meaning, and the two of you prepare to use your healing abilities. As you focus, you also sense that the bone monster is giving off the same sense of stability you felt earlier.

In a matter of moments, you and Riolu are hurrying about behind the lines, pressing your palms into the standing sailors who seem the most injured or those on the ground you can tell are unconscious. It takes them a moment to awaken, even with the healing, but you manage to rouse about 5 more from their slumber. Afterwards, you feel exhausted, drained from how much healing you delivered.

>Ceil HP: 10/10

That tasted weird, maybe you're supposed to peel it first? No time to worry about it though, since you've got to deal with the problem in front of you. However, as you're chewing, a thought occurs, perhaps you could use your aura abilities to stop that monster's attacks? You focus as the monster charges to bring down its club on a nearby sailor. You quickly try to manipulate aura to deflect or stop the attack. The feeling is, unusual, to say the least, somewhat like a tingling sensation, as though something made of glass just broke. Either way, the bone continues unimpeded, though the sailors manages to dodge backwards at the last moment. You feel like such an ability might work, but your skill level wouldn't block anything from this beast.

You move forward and sound a charge, lagging slightly behind the other sailors. They mostly shy away from the captain and his monster, heading instead for the pirates nearby. Riolu dashes forward, bringing his arms to bear against the captain, scoring a solid hit on the man's off-shoulder. You prepare to take advantage of the opening, however the skull creature interposes himself, knocking your blade to the ground. It doesn't look like it hurt your glaive, but the sheer force was astounding.

You notice one of the pirates nearby the captain gets an arrow in his shoulder, which promptly gets him cut down by a sailor. It seems Lisa is trying to help you out, although you can hardly see her from your position.

bleegh, this is what I get for making write-ins right after waking up.

We spent the majority of our time practicing how to sense aura.

We know that changes in aura happen right before an attack.

We could try to use that to predict when, and possible where the attack will strike.

The idea was to use the glaive for the deflection because we have never done vacuum fist or any sort of aura attack yet. Really, just whack that bone clear off the deck and into the waters.

This thing needs to be taken out, and fast.

Sidestepping quickly, you throw a feint towards the captain, who seems to have his back turned. The monster swiftly swings its bone upwards to block your attack. However, you quickly dip your blade down and up again, striking at its hand. You see the club flip end over end through the air, followed by a trail of red. It clatters on the deck as you glance down, seeing deep red on the creatures claw. Now you don't have to worry about-

You exhalation ends immediately as you feel a massive thud to your stomach. Right, clearly this thing doesn't need its weapon to hurt you.

You slowly circle about, positioning yourself so you're in between the monster and its weapon. It glances over at its club several times, before finally breaking for it.

However, you're prepared and with one swift motion you swing your glaive towards its legs. However, the creature senses this and leaps upward over your weapon. You quickly step forward and bring your glaive around once again, slicing through the air. You strike the creature squarely on the back of its helmet, causing it to fly through the air and over the side of the ship.

You glance towards the captain, whose confidence wanes somewhat when he sees what you've done. He seems to have landed some solid hits on your Riolu so far, and the two are still at it.

Leveling your weapon, you charge at the captain. He brings his cutlass about, and the two of you lock blades.

"I ain't letting no rich brat take me down," he snarls. While his attention is focused on you however, Riolu leaps up from behind and brings his forearm down onto the man's head. He immediately slumps to the floor.

The pirates nearby attempt to break off from their fighting and flee, although some are cut down in the process. Looking around, it seems that the sailors are driving back the main force, although the murmurs through the ranks by those who saw their captain fall are helping the effort. You do notice there are still quite a few of the black birds flying above, though Lisa seems to be thinning their numbers somewhat. Looking across at the pirate ship, you suddenly feel a large pulse of aura, and instinctively move aside. On the bow of the other ship is a strange purple slug monster, who for some bizarre reason seems to be firing out something that behaves like its aura, but is much more tangible. You're still not sure where the thought that its aura is grand comes from, but its shots have that same feeling about them.

You quickly move aside, trying to gain your footing. The railing you were standing upon splinters, leaving you and Riolu on the deck of the ship.

You carefully circle around the slime, trying to draw its fire line toward the pirates. If you're careful, you should be able to hit them before they realize what's happening.

Just as you prepare to strike, a pulse of energy blasts you off your feet. It feels as though a massive shock wave of force just slammed into you.

You turn your head to see the pulse heading directly towards you. You try to swing your body out of the way as much as possible, but you don't think it's going to be quite enough.

However, the ship once again lurches down, causing the blast to narrowly avoid hitting your hand, striking through the railing above.

Unfortunately, you're still hanging there. However, you also notice the ships seem to be pulling apart, with the pirates scrambling back towards their vessel. You spy a few arrows flying towards the slime catching its attention, though it's attempts to shoot back are off-target due to the rapid retreat.

Eventually, one of the sailors pulls you back up onto the deck. He asks if you're alright, but you just give him a nod before flopping down onto the deck.

You close your eyes and lie there for a minute, until you sense someone standing above you?

"Sleeping boy?" bellows the captain of the ship, "Hope you enjoyed your nap while the rest of us were fightin'."

You circle around her, squatting down next to her Pidgey. You start using your aura abilities to help heal it. It's taking a lot out of you though, probably because you're so hurt and you've done so much healing today.

"This is because I jumped onto the ship right?" you ask, and her look affirms your suspicions.

"So you have enough sense to know it was stupid," she snaps, "But not enough to know it before you had already done it?"

"I-"

"What if you had been killed?" she continues, "What if they took you away? What if I never saw you again? How do you think that would make me feel? People care about you Ceil. I care about you. Why would you do something like that?"

She seems to be on the verge of tears, you'd better think of something

Give her a hug and apologise. "I'm sorry, I felt a really strong presence from that monster and the first thing I could do to protect the ship was distract it. However we were fighting, and I can't just sit by especially when I can help. Besides, I had you watching over me, so I can do stupid stuff like that without worrying."

>it was just in the heat of the fight... it's not as if i was used to it... i'll try to be less reckless next time...

I hope you guys had a good reason going in.

helping the main force is different from sitting by, but Lisa will probably say that anyway.

You take your hands off of Pidgey as the healing finishes. Without missing a beat, you quickly wrap your arms around Lisa. She seems a bit surprised, so you take the opportunity to respond.

"I'm sorry, I felt a really strong presence from that monster, but everybody else was occupied and the only thing I could do to protect the ship was distract it. It was just in the heat of the fight, but I can't just sit by especially when I can help. Besides, I had you watching over me, so I can do stupid stuff like that without worrying."

You wait for a moment for her to respond, but then you realize she's crying anyway. What is she upset about now? Maybe you could check her aura? That seems rude though. Your thought process is interrupted when she speaks.

"I just don't want to lose you," she sniffles, "So I guess if you're gonna go do stupid stuff, then I'll just have to stick around then. But that means you can't leave me either? You got that?"

"Yeah, I got it," you reply, you release yourself from the hug, only to realize that Lisa is still holding on to you. You don't think she's crying anymore at least.

You gently reach for your handkerchief, sliding it into her hand. Grasping it seems to make her realize what she was doing, and she slowly slides out of the embrace, using the handkerchief to dry her eyes.

"Thanks, Ceil," she smiles.

I'm going to call it a night here. Thank you for your participation, you were all wonderful.

Whelp, we gave a girl a handkerchief. That means we're married now.

I've got a question for the other anons: ARE we gonna be this reckless in the future? Do note that we're still small fry, and that we don't have to try and be heroes straight off the bat.

Honestly, I believe in acting first, then if you're still alive after you can justify it.
>>
>>31590955
hokay then, as long as we know to spend a little extra on armor and survival training.

It'll probably be around Wednesday again. I'm not sure if I can keep doing threads on Saturday night though.
