Welcome to Harem Protag Quest. You are John Galt, the sentient protagonist of a harem show. Aside from having to gather and keep your harem, you will have to deal with various other obstacles at the Cassandra College of Witches.>Mechanics: http://pastebin.com/MuXRzApY>MC: http://pastebin.com/TdBKC27p >Other Characters: http://pastebin.com/SCdW9jJi>Magic system: http://pastebin.com/jKt3dEkR>Previous threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Harem%20Protag%20Quest>Twitter: @HaremProtaGuide>Current Stats:>Protag Points: 306>Mana 25/25>Harem Status 4/5>Pastebins have been updated, Harem, MC and Mechanics, let me know what you think. You are John Galt and you have just kissed the ever-loving crap out of two beautiful girls who happen to still be lying on top of you. In the process you discovered that you just might have knowledge from multiple people who may or may not be previous lives floating around in your head. With a sigh, you lay your head back onto the nice, soft, grass as the lovely, soft girls continue to lie on your side. Your mind wanders towards your possible powers, the past, and many things as you start to fall asleep. Then somebody kicks your foot, hard. Looking up, you see a quintet of what are obviously some of Lydia’s goons. The nearly scream low level disposable mook. “Hey, shit-stain,” says the leader, “Me and my friends have a bone to pick with you.” Oh, so that’s how it is, is it? First they come and interrupt your lovely cuddle time, then they kick you and now they insult you.You can feel Akeno and Tatsuko stir on your sides, their faces still turned mostly towards you. How are you going to react to this?>Tell them to leave, politely.>Beat the shit out of them.>Wait and see what they do.>Other.
>>31567330>Tell them to leave, politely.Fuck yeah, favourite time of the day.

>>31567330>Mindbreak them.Oh wait, this is Harem Protag Quest, not Psion Quest.
Looks like you're starting with "Everybody gets one chance." Writing.
>>31567330>Tell them to leave, politely.Cause if these two get up , the poor mooks are screwed
>>31567605Even if it's just Tatsuko who wakes up, the Headmistress will have to hunt down all of the dismembered parts to put them back on.
>>31567730You'd think they would recall what happened just yesterday to them. I mean these very two girls wiped the floor with them outside our home after all
>with bonuses being given for acting like a main character should. What does this mean, exactly?
>>31567826Generally doing, awesome things/picking the right choices during important times.
>>31567826It means we get protag points for being awesome.Scoring a hit on an otherwise invincible PT teacher? Awesome.No-selling Starlight Breaker? Awesome.Making a meal so legendary that Karasuba and ninja break into your house and ??? devours it, despite probably not needing food? Beyond Awesome.
>Since you chose “Aware” as your default state, the world will only throw the most basic plot points at you, girl, antagonist, exam etc. It is up to you to take these and make them interesting, giving you more protagonist points to spend.we really should get on top of this. the creature from beyond, for example, could be a good thing to focus on this arc. it is friendly, yet a mystery. and gives us a chance to resolve our last antagonist as well as well as getting a very interesting and unique harem member.
>>31567854Awesome as in inspiring awe, right? I'd hate to think Hachiman doesn't qualify.Though it's too late to even attempt to go that route, we're firmly Nice Guys.
>>31567330Well, you’re in a good mood due to everything that just went on and there is a possibility, however small, that they might actually listen to you and leave, letting you enjoy the remainder of your cuddle time. You don’t think they’re likely to listen, they look pretty dumb all things considered, but you’ll give it a shot. “I think you might want to leave,” you say, eyes glancing around at the four followers and then to the leader, “My friends don’t like it when they get woken up.”“I don’t give a shit what your friends want,” says the leader, obviously chosen for her strength and blind obedience than any real brains she has, “Lydia doesn’t like you, so that means we don’t like you, and that’s your problem.”It’s here that she tries to kick you again. However this time it doesn’t work out so well for her, as she tries to get in a two for one kick of both you and Tatsuko. You nearly feel sorry for her, nearly. You can’t really see much, but all you can feel is that Tatsuko seems to stiffen her leg, slightly. Then there’s a dull thud and the leader grunts, hopping up and down, swearing. “I don’t know who you are, but you are going to…” you can nearly hear her freeze as Tatsuko rises, letting out a low growl and Akeno stands, a ball of electricity forms in her hand. You decide that you should stand too, so now it appears to be three against five. “I told you that you should leave,” you say, the delinquent girls gulping, but still standing their ground, dumb as that might be. >Let them leave.>Yeah, no. Beat down time. >Optional, join in as well. >Other.

>>31567979I don't think we should let them join. the other girls actually had reservations about this and didn't like lydia. these guys are thugs and we don't want to associate with them.
>>31568133>Unlimited branch works! On a scale of yes to noyes
>>31568154Good reference.
>As the protagonist it is your job to drive the plot, them more others drive it outside your control, the more Protagonist points you will have to spend to get it back on you. Is this obvious, or is it possible that we could see the amount of protag points we have to spend rising while having no idea why?The paranoia that would result would be amazing.

Hey, random idea for an enchantment spell. Would it be possible to overcharge runes to cause explosions?
>>31568361This quest goes by best of three historically
>>31568361He usually takes best of 3 with some exceptions
>>31568385
>>31568361Guide has always gone by "best of three"
>Chris is at 29 attractionSo close to harem member status. We should try to push her over this thread.
>>31568385If anything, overcharging runes would make them stronger.Unstable runes, however, might be what we need. We'd just have to make them just wrong enough that the slightest little push makes them fail catastrophically.
>>31568361best of three, unless a 1 or 100 is nearby
>>31568522>>31568409>>31568385Did you guys miss "one use items" in the enchantment part?
We need to enchant us up some magic grenades and other good consumables. Maybe make a utility belt?
>>31568550I just wanted to point out that explosive runes was a thing
>>31568504Akeno and Tatsuko are also right on the edge, and we have PT with them in addition to this fight. We might push them over the edge this thread, and Mrs. Black is almost guaranteed to become a base harem member unless we completely screw up during class and training.
>>31568591i think our biggest issue is too many girls and not enough slots.
>>31568504Wait. I recall Guide saying in the opening post last thread there was a new level between Probationary and Permanent.
>>31568621right now we have just enough for the 5 we're going after the mostand we should probably spend 50 points at the end of thread to get one for slendergirl
>>31568621We don't need a ton of girls. Really, five or six is a lot of girls to juggle. We'd be spending all the protag points we gained just keeping protagonist status with that many.
>>31568656it might be better to rush 50 affection with some of the easier harem members to free up their slot instead.
>>31568648Yes. Fuck, I'll just copy/paste since most of you aren't reading the pastebins. There are 5 levels of characters being in your harem:1. Not a member, this character has had little to no interaction with you/is not interested in being in your harem. 2. Potential Harem Member: This character has had a limited amount of interaction with you and you likely have their name. They are not truly part of your harem, but they are within easy range to be pulled in. No benefit will be gained from a character in this position, but keeping them here will not add to your Harem count. 3. Probationary Harem Member: This person is in your harem, at least for now. You have had a decent amount of interaction with them, definitely know their name and spend at least a little of your time with them regularly. They can fall out, but you will have to ignore them for this to happen. You will likely gain benefits from having people in this position. +1 to Harem count. +2 Protag Power per thread, Minimum 10 Attraction. 4. Harem Member: This person is now firmly in your harem. You can ask them to study with you, fight, etc. and they will nearly always agree. They will be around you often, start to demand more of your attention and will start to become more intimate with you. Even more unlikely to fall out than a probationary member, but still possible. Getting to this level will let you know their stat levels. +3 Protag points. +1 to Harem count, non cumulative. Minimum 30 Attraction. 5. Permanent Harem Member: This character, for better or worse, is now permanently in your harem. The Plot recognizes them as an inextricable part of itself and will actively seek to keep them around you, despite whatever you may try. They will want to be around you at nearly all times. Getting to this level will unlock their personal special power. No longer adds to the Harem count, leaving an extra slot for growth. +4 Protag Power per thread,
>>31568685I hate shows that do this. You know they're gonna tank in screentime later in the show.
>>31568648Yeah, it's just "Harem Member"No special benefits, but they'd be more likely to listen to us and they'd be more willing to spar/study with us even if they have something else to do.It's also much harder to lose affection points unless we neglect them purposely.
>>31568692>Permanent>whatever you may tryTIME TO GET NINJA WHORE SO WE CAN DESTROY HER WITH WITH NO CONSEQUENCE
>>31567979Looking up over your shoulder, you notice a rather conveniently placed branch. Reaching up, you take a second to get a grip, but then it’s zapped off by what seems to be a stray bolt from Tatsuko. Nonchalantly scribing a few basic strengthening runes into the branch and then hefting it like a sword; you look over at the leader, who gulps. “I told you that you should have left,” you say, then you step forward, which causes the delinquent leader to grunt and take the first swing. You wouldn’t really call it a fight, not really. She seems to be using some kind of basic cast that makes her fist gain power, but compared to Ms. Black it’s painfully slow. You don’t even move that much, your body swaying just enough that her crackling fist swings by your ear. By then you simply bring up the branch in an arc, slamming it into the side of her head in a brutal, if efficient maneuver. There’s not much to say after that, the delinquent leader collapses onto the ground and looking to the sides you see her lackeys on the ground as well. The one’s on Akeno’s side you don’t think even moved, at least besides getting blown backwards slightly by large balls of electrical energy and you think the one’s on Tatsuko’s side managed to take a step backwards before she punched them in the face, once. The leader at least, seems to be conscious, mostly. You could say something to her or you could leave. Or you could beat her into unconsciousness. >Say (Write in)>Leave, don’t look back. >Beat more shit out of her.>Other.
Oh shit, I actually made it to the thread in time.>>31568266And we're already off to a good start.
>>31568737
Actually I wonder if we can gain affection points without someone counting towards harem (aka, we do not receive bonuses). Where only the top 5 girls count as harem?I do like the idea of keeping harem to a managable size rather than having it become ever larger... its just, there are many girls I like>>31568737don't be mean.
>>31568753>Beat more shit out of her.Shoulda left while ya could
>>31568753>Leave, don’t look back.
>>31568753Don't beat the shit out of her, just one hard hit to the side of her head to actually knock her out. We should be pragmatic, but not ruthless
>>31568753>Beat more shit out of her.
>>31568753>>Leave, don’t look back.It really wouldn't be in our character to hit a downed woman.
>>31568753>Say"I'm sorry your leader is so unkind."
>>31568753>>Say take me to your leaderWe finishing this subplot today. It has outstayed its welcome.
>>31568821Ask her if she learned her lesson first, if yes, then leave her alone and leave, if no, knock her out and leave
>>31568753>Say (Write in)"Tell Lydia I am perfectly willing to forgive and forget if she never tries any of this shit again. But make sure she knows--If she wants a war, she's going to get it. And I won't stop until my boot is grinding her face into the ground."
>>31568753>Beat more shit out of her.Ruin a romantic moment after a beautiful kiss will you?The Headmistress is going to have her "no dying allowed" ability put to the test today.
>>31568753"When you wake up, tell your boss I won't be as nice the next time you threaten the people around me"Then knock her out, one clean hit to the temple
>>31568844We have class soon.
>>31568753>Leave, don't look back
>>31568853I like this, although I have a funny feeling that if we actually do beat her down, she might actually fall for us.
>>31568753>Beat more shit out of her.Yes
>>31568872Fuck class. This is worth skipping for.
>>31568753>Say (Write in)"Let's play a game while we wait for those two to finish up. I'm going to ask a question, you're going to give me an answer. If I don't like the answer..."Just ask her random questions that wildly vary in seriousness, but be ready to smack her around if she tries anything.
>>31568753>Say (Write in)"You should find better friends. Maybe ones that don't send you to get your ass stomped.">One hit knock out.
>>31568753I'd say take our two girls and walk away like a cool guy.>>31568787I agree, you can only have so many well developed characters in a story. I would rather get to know our waifus better than have an assload of them.
>>31568753>Say somethingLean in "Tell Lydia that's strike two."
>>31568753>>Leave, don’t look back.Let's not waste more time on them
>>31568925This
>>31568753>Leave, don’t look back. >Say"Let this be a message to Lydia. Mess with any of us, you mess with all of us."
>>31568842Seconding this. The key to breaking Lydia is to show her underlings that we are not the enemy. It would be a major coup if in the end, her underlings turned on Lydia and either joined us, or beat her down.Besides, we don't want to beat on a downed woman unless we have to. It's clear this girl is out of her league against us.
>>31568891heretic!
>>31568842this, plus one hit knockout
>>31568842I like. Give them a look of pity and then leave
>>31568891you crazy? the next class is enchantment
move to leave, but be ready to drop her the second you turn your back. Because she's going to try for a backstab
Alright, you're rather divided between beating her down or leaving a message. So.1. Beat down, no message.2. Message, tone either threatening or sad/sympathetic, followed by hit/don't hit.
>>31568753I'm ok with any of the little speeches suggested, but we should knock her out afterward. Just to make sure she doesn't do that stupid 'last ditch backstab' all mook lieutenants try in anime
>>31568973no knockoutcruelty towards a downed opponent is not very protagonistic. plus it makes us look like a dick
>>31569047>2. Message, tone either threatening or sad/sympathetic, followed by hit/don't hit.

>>315690472. Message, sympathetic, don't hit.

>>315690472, threatening tone, don't hit unless she tries to attack after the message

Alright looks like. 2, with "sympathetic and don't hit, but don't get hit either."
to the people voting for the beatdown-just remember it might actually cost us points with Ms. Black. Canon Karasuba revels in the fight and risk of death, not killing people who can't fight back. I mean, she'll still do it, but it's more a job and less enjoyment
>>31569047this vote should really have been structured as:Message1. none2. Threatening3. Sad SympatheticBeatdownA. noB. yes
>>31569208Thanks for the advice, I'll use it next time something like this comes up.
>>31569208eh, we figured it all out
I like how passive protag point gain actively rewards us for getting shit all done in a thread.
>>31569261As a harem protag, that means we're doing our job as expected...
>>31569261I like how Guide knows what story pacing is. Way too many quests just dick around for 50 threads and nothing happens.
>>31569297That's easier when timeskips are literally a phenomenon in your universe.
>>31569399you can always timeskip. this quest just has the protagonist know when they happen
>>31569399actually, this makes me wonder. is everything we do shown to viewers. or only the good parts with parts being cut by editors?oooh, what if we are actually an AI inside a futuristic simulator used to rapidly create anime?
Is anyone else expecting at least one harem member to be sentient and backstab us as hard as she can after reaching permanent harem member status?
>>31569467>oooh, what if we are actually an AI inside a futuristic simulator used to rapidly create anime?and by that i mean accidental AI, where we are not supposed to be individually self aware. but we are because evolving system
>>31569471sentient? yes. Backstab? no, because we aren't waifuing Junko. Also because of how it seems sentience works. We know what's happening, but the emotions are real
>>31569502>We know what's happening, but the emotions are realMore like the show is manipulating our emotions. If I was an ancient sentient, that would drive me crazy.
>>31569471Kaede seemed to think that there was something particular about us that made us a target for ???.Maybe she's sentient and Slendies only care about sentient people?
>>31569542But we aren't ancient, we have been sentient for three days.
>>31568753You stand over the downed leader, who is woozily looking at you with what appears to be a decent measure of fear, seeing as how you just flattened her and her four friends in what amounted to a split second.Leaning over her, you give her what you attempt to make a sympathetic grin. “I feel sorry for you,” you say, and on some level you really do, “having a leader that sends you out to a fight you have no chance of winning. You might want to rethink your allegiance.” With that you poke her with the branch, causing her to fall back to the ground. You step away from her, around her friends, heading away from the downed and groaning quintet. Checking your watch, you see that there’s just enough time for the three of you to grab a quick bite at the cafeteria and then get to your enchantment class. Heading that way, Akeno and Tatsuko follow you, both apparently calm, but you can tell that Akeno at the very least is worried about how you might be reacting to the sudden burst of violence. Reaching the building, you step inside, glancing around at the many options of food available. Deciding on just a light meal today, you grab a sandwich, an apple and some chips. Akeno and Tatsuko follow suit, and take seats next to you as you sit. “Are you ok?” Akeno asks the question you expected. Well, it wasn’t all that hard to hit the girl, but then again it all happened rather quickly. How do you respond?>Yeah, I’m fine.>…No, I just beat up someone for no real reason. >Maybe, I don’t know.>Other.
>>31569584There are other sentients in the show. And we seem to be three days going on ancient, with this past life thing. Shit's weird. Maybe we're a protagonist in the show and in the meta-world.

>>31569694 I hope not. Reincarnation is always a terrible plot point.
>>31569595>Yeah, I'm fine.>Are you guys ok?Don't be the sad depressed self tormented hero, be a man. >>31569643This.Then after gloomy fight talk's over, ask them if they're alright. They both looked pretty out of it after that kiss...
Looks like you aren't real upset about the violence, you just don't enjoy beating up duped stooges. Writing.
>>31569807Sounds about right.
>>31569643this isn't true. they attacked us because their leader doesn't like us on their own volition.she said "lydia doesn't like you, this is good enough for me", she was a loyal thug.I think we didn't like having to do it, but the fact is they were going to hurt us and our friends, it just happened that we were stronger.

>>31569595“I’m fine,” you say, smiling at Akeno and then at Tatsuko just to be fair, “the violence part at least. I can’t say I enjoy the whole beating up stupid people who got sent to try and intimidate me by a coward.”As you take a bite of your sandwich, you see Akeno smile back a little and Tatsuko pats you on the back. “Unfortunately it’s like that sometimes,” says Akeno, “At least for some of the lower ranking power groups. Their members aren’t all that great, but they either have numbers or are backed by a strong group behind them.”“That’s stupid,” you say, shaking your head.“It may be, but the better groups usually have a dedicated wing of fighters or protectors and leave the lower members out of it,” Akeno says as the three of you continue eating. “It’s still dumb,” you say again, “This whole, fighting for better people thing especially.”“I can’t say I don’t agree with you,” Akeno replies. After that, you spend the remainder of your lunch talking about more mundane things, like classes and magic. Akeno lets you know that if you want to practice casting that she’d be available to help. Then you get walked to enchanting class, at least to the door, where first Akeno and then Tatsuko give you a kiss on the cheek before leaving. It didn’t end well for them.”Kaname stares at you for a bit, before pulling out her journal that she seems to take everywhere and starts writing again. “Well at least you didn’t get jumped this morning when it was just you and Chris, it probably wouldn’t have ended as easily as that.”You wonder how Kaname knows about that already, but you’re interrupted by what appears to be a small child stumbling into class, nearly tripping on his own two feet as he heads behind the teachers table at the front. You’re about to open your mouth to wonder why he’s there, but then he speaks. “Hello! Due to some issues regarding your professors mental and physical health, I will be taking over this class for the time being.”
>>31570638The way she, along with Tatsuko, is being particularly aggressive, mostly. The other potential members don't seem to care too much about us, while they're going out of their way to seek our attention.Yes, it's flimsy, but I don't have a lot to go on here and I have to jump to an absurd conclusion somehow. Most people aren't thinking about sentience at all.
>>31570764Wait…he’s fucking twelve and a dude that can’t be…“Rest assured that I am not actually a small male child, I’m actually one of your headmasters many familiars. However,” he coughs a bit, “I’m not usually out and about so excuse me while I get used to this along with you.”With this, he claps his hands and suddenly there is a block of what looks like iron or steel in front of everyone. “For starters, I want to see what all of you can do before I start teaching. I’ll let you take most of class for this purpose.”Looking over at Kaname only gets you a glance and an eye roll before she starts on hers; apparently she thinks that you’re going to pull more utter bullshit out of your ass. By my count you're making a combat enchantment with a dual offensive capability. With >>31571059as your roll, I'm giving you a success due to your bonus. Writing.
>>31571271That would be interesting. Noticing we're specced for bullshit and changing her background to be fixated on the bullshit would be one way to ensure she'd be around us.
>>31571282Our enchantment bonus is +30 right? Doesn't that mean we got a 100?
I just realized we totally should have used that phone thing she gave us to call her as our capability test. It's enchantment, it counts.
>>31571381You're also pulling this out of your ass again. While I am willing to allow much awesomeness, like that nat 100 on kissing, I'm not going to let your +30 enchanting ability produce Excalibur on the second day of class. You do have to build, the skill level just helps.
>>31571282You should have us roll after we vote. Like this we can notice a good roll and dogpile it.
>>31571442So we make that other, shittier sword arthur had? And wouldn't excalibur be defense defense since it made him invincible, or was that another sword?
>>31571442Of course not. Its random iron, not special super metal. It presumably has an upper limit
>>31571475Wasn't that his sword belt?
>>31571475nah man, we make a flimsy lightsaber. the handle is weak though and rapidly degrades, it works a couple of minutes then falls apart. we will need more studying, practice, knowledge, and higher quality materials to make a permanent lightsaber
>>31571484This is actually a good idea.
>>31571475Caliburn is still an excellent blade compared to most other swords.Clarent is just an Arming Sword. It may be contaminated with hate after being wielded by Mordred though.
>>31571381100 isn't necessarily a hard cap. DC's for absurd reaches usually break the dice limit so as to only be reachable with modifiers. For example, enchanting a sentient, singing weapon from a desk leg might have a DC of 120. Now, we can still reach that if we roll above a 90, but that's because we have the +30 enchanting modifier.Crits on the other hand will always only happen on natural rolls.See what I'm saying?
>>31571475Caliburn was Arthur's first sword. Excalibur would be offense offense. You're thinking of the sheath, Avalon.
>>31571442Of course, I'd be against trying to do something retarded like that.
>>31571442Admittedly, we should probably stop trying to pull things our of our ass. That's the sort of stuff best saved for an emergency, or when the result would be awesome/hilarious. Otherwise it can slowly dissolve into sueness.
>>31571584>Otherwise it can slowly dissolve into suenessHave you never watched a harem show? We're already a sue, we're just showing it off for the fans.
>>31571649Not really. We can easily get our ass kicked.
>>31571673Good thing we're taking steps to remedy that.
>>31571673Sure, sure, technically, we can. But look at how that's gone in practice. It's a harem shounen anime, if we ever find ourselves in mortal danger, our Super Secret Powers will unlock, and our limiters will be released.
>>31571673No. We are. We really, truly are. All girls like us. We're an enchanting god. Master of the sword despite never picking it up. We're a Sue.Not that there's anything wrong with that. The real conflict in this story isn't going to be solved with powerlevels.
>>31571649you know, enemies will always scale to our power level in an animebeing so sue means we are going to be fighting some pretty fucking scary things.
>>31571773And since those scary things are scaled to -our- power, they will never be a threat. If they are, we lose a battle, go through a quick training arc, and beat them into the floor.Or, we find out about our secret bloodline technique, and beat them into the floor.
Just to stop the sue discussion in its tracks. No, you are not a sue. There are plenty of things in this universe that can kick your ass, including a good portion of your harem. And a great deal of things you haven't met yet. And if you screw up, I am not against making you get your ass beaten. Granted you have a couple special things, but if that makes you a sue, so is your harem. Protag points will of course alleviate a lot of this, but that's why you have only so many.
Hopefully we get by on being clever rather than bullshit magic.Rather than bullshit magic overpowering whatever we're fighting, we apply it creatively to defeat our enemy because on its own, we'd lose hard. And we'll likely learn this the hard way.
>>31571838Thanks for sorting that out before it went too far, Guide.
Is Kaname scrying on us? Is she a magic-stalker?
>>31571898But now what are we supposed to pointlessly over-analyze?
>>31571838I was joking around on the issue.>There are plenty of things in this universe that can kick your ass, including a good portion of your harem.heh, I actually noticed that. we are like that guy from that monster school anime that is trying to catch up to the powerful women in his harem... or that other one with the demons... huh, actually now that i think about it there are several animes out there with similar themes
>>31571838Thank you for stopping this early Guide. More importantly, thank you for giving us some kind of ability at the beginning of the 'show.' Most harem protagonists sit around like dead weight for the beginning half of a show before one of the girls gives them a powerup
>>31570789Grabbing your carving knife, enchanted of course, you decide to try for something that, while relatively complex, isn’t the complete utter bullshit of pulling enchanted magics out of your ass that Kaname is used to. So you simply decide to bullshit together two of the combat spells you know. Starting with the offensive physical boost enchant, you then combine it with the magical boost enchant. You aren’t actually sure how they’re supposed to go together, somebody has surely thought of this before, but you think you’ve figured it out. It takes nearly all of the time that the teacher gives you, but by the time you’re finished you’re pretty sure that you’ve created a dual magic/physical offensive boost enchantment. Blowing the last of the scraps off of the table in front of you, you wait for the teacher to go around examining the rest of the class. “Hmm, decent enough work, but that alarm could you some work…”Wait, somebody messed up a basic alarm ward that’s…just like you in mysticism, you try to keep this in mind. Finally the teacher comes around to you and Kaname, probably because he can tell that the two of you put the most time into yours. “Hmm, a very nice moderate physical defense ward,” he says to Kaname, examining the smoothly carved block. Turning to you, he picks up your block, looking over the entire surface slowly.
>>31572002“Quite interesting,” he says, “Attempted combination of both the common magical and physical boosts. I’m not sure where you got your combination runes, but you mixed up a few, here and here,” he points at them, “which made them mix together differently than I think you meant them too.”He shakes his head, “But I do think you made a perfectly serviceable defense breaker. The question is of course, can you use it?”Well, you don’t really have much offensive magic at the moment, but you could try. Or you could say it was just an exercise, or for a friend.>Totally can use it…yeah.>Nope, just stretching my brain.>Nah, it’s for my friend…(insert friend optional.)>Other

>>31572985>>31573014The lewd handholding joke has to be propagated by new migrants to 4chan right? I mean, it's been stale for years now.
>give a girl a gold ring>expect them to treat it as a toolGuy, come on now. Just imagine what chris would do if we gave her a ring?
>>31573086You're right. That would be hilarious and adorable to watch! Let's do it!
>>31573065this isn't hand holding, its hand makeout>>31573086this is what i had in mind when i suggested it in the first place
>>31573086>Just imagine what chris would do if we gave her a ring? Are you trying to argue against it? Because this alone would be a very good reason to go through with it.
>>31573086Actually, i got a better idea than ring. (although rings are totally bitching).Get blinging chains. we can mount the existing nugget of gold we enchanted on one of them
>>31573074People with a low tolerance for repetition often say things like this. Some people just have higher tolerance for that shit than you.
>>31573124I think it's much more than a makeout anon. I think it's a handjob.
>>31573181I laughed out loud. thanks anon>>31573086we actually have justification. we were repeatedly attacked already. we need to coordinate our gang for future attacks, a way to call for help. such an item would be perfect for the job.
>>31572525Glancing at the strange boy/familiar/teacher one last time, you decide to head after the blue haired….after Kaname. You still find it slightly weird that having blue hair is not a unique enough trait to describe a girl with, but unfortunately you’re getting used to it. You follow her out of the classroom, apparently headed towards the trees that you’ve spent so much time around already. Taking a seat, you notice that Kaname is actually quite pretty when she’s not acting too serious, or angry, or annoyed at you doing things that should be impossible…yeah you should probably stop now. But anyway, yes Kaname is actually an attractive girl, one who’s rather smart if your past interactions have been any indication. You take a moment, glancing up at the sky like she is, to see if she’s looking at something, or just the sky. When all you see is the blue sky, a clear beautiful blue sky that serves to also remind you that blue appears to be the prevalent color in your life, you eventually turn back to Kaname, who finally eyes you with something approaching what you’ve come to expect from her as she pulls a small carved block out of her bag and sets it between the two of you.“What’s that?” you ask her, eyeing the obviously magical item.“It’s a privacy device, keeps people from listening in on our conversation without seriously trying to scry it,” she says, as she looks back up between the two of you. “What’s so important that we need something like that?” you eye it a little more before turning your eyes back up to Kaname. “I wanted to discuss the direction you planned on taking things.”“What things are you talking about?”
>>31573459“The house, our “gang”,” she says, “You’re obviously the leader of the group, whether you know it or not. What I wanted to know was if you’d put any thought into how you were going to move forward. Or if you were simply trying to form a giant harem.” You can’t quite place Kaname’s voice as she speaks, part of it sounds similar to how Akeno was talking before. But then another part…no, she can’t be…maybe? She did say she wanted to ensure privacy…>I hadn’t really thought about it. >…Are you sentient?>Oh, I know what you want to do. >Other.
>>31573487>I hadn’t really thought about it.Need to drop some protag points at some point for a huge slugfest between all the gangs coming up. We make the plot as an aware protag after all.
>>31573487>…Are you sentient?
>>31573487>>…Are you sentient?Finally. So happy.
>>31573459>Other>"How much of a say do you think I really have in deciding my fate?"Basically try to be a bit more circumspect about asking if she's sentient
>>31573487>…Are you sentient?I fucking knew it
>>31573487>…Are you sentient?NEVER phrase it like that. if we want to ask someone be ROUNDABOUT about it. like>I had a weird dream last night, that the world is a work of fiction and we just actors in it, playing a role for a time. That being said, I wouldn't even ask her that.
>>31573565Sure, let's go with this.
>>31573487>I hadn't really thought about it
>>31573547>>31573563>>31573567Word it in a way that she won't think we're weird if she isn't. Like >>31573565 but that one MAY be a bit vague
>>31573565>>31573580I prefer this over straight asking her, since she might not even know what the fuck we are talking about.I'm this guy >>31573534Change my vote to hat these guys said 148 if comes down to a tie.
>>31573604It doesn't matter. We can play it off as a weird joke if she isn't.
>>31573459Why is everyone so intent on asking if she's sentient? The obvious answer is "Of course, all humans are sentient!"If she isn't, then it just raises several awkwards questions, and if she is, We come across as a bit accusatory about it.>I hadn’t really thought about it. Is the safest answer
>>31573580>I had a weird dream last night, that the world is a work of fiction and we just actors in it, playing a role for a time.I actually really like this
>>31573580No no no. Say "What do you think this is, an anime or something?"
>>31573643YESPERFECT
>>31573634No, staying unaware of meta is not a safe answer. At all.
>>31573643Supporting this
>>31573643You. You are a smart person.
>…Are you sentient?but a little subtler like "These last few days have been like a harem anime" or something else that doesn't make it sound like we're asking if she's a retard if we're wrong
>>31573643Seconding this.
>>31573643Oh god, yes.>>31573617Forget what I said here, I'm changing to this guy.
>>31573643+1 anime reference
>>31573643perfect
>>31573643Bingo.
>>31573687wow I'm slow
>>31573643Got my vote.
>>31573643Perfect.
So, we have a clear and obvious winner. Writing, last update since I'm falling asleep and my typing is getting slower.
>>31573774nighty night qm.
>>31573774Gotcha, night night Guide.
Well, I know I'm going to be rereading the story soon.
>>31573774I eat this shit up like corn flakes. Keep up the good work mate.
>>31573774>Last update>As we ask if she's sentientFlags point to "yes".
>>31573866Tacking on a "I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing" rider would make the conversation go faster.
>>31573866Signs point to her jacking the protagonist role from us.
>>31573902What? No, that's Akeno and Tatsuko. Kaname wouldn't be this open if she planned that.
>>31573902This is a harem anime. not likely. also we are not even in risk of this unless we drop under 100 protag points and we are currently at 300
>>31573924>Kaname or Tatsuko>Hijacking protag role from usNot after that kiss they're not.
I have to admit, the idea of jacking the idea that the girls are sentient is strange in the face of most of them not even doing a lot to get our attention or interest.
>>31573924>Implying that Akeno and Tatsuko aren't the least likely girls to be stealing our protagonist role in the entire setting.Shit, Tatsuko would probably actively support us staying the protagonist just so she gets to keep her favorite pillow.
>>31573976Are you sure about that? Someone had to be driving all these plot developments. Kaname thinks it was us. It wasn't.
>>31573924Nah, Akeno needs the narrative to look the other way while she gets shit done and Tatsuko would nap/timeskip to the endgame in two threads, and knowing how publishers like to drag these IPs out I'm guessing she'd get replaced pretty quickly.
>>31573996Eh? We've been burning protag points to force plot developments at pretty much every opportunity. The only time we didn't that I can remember is the church with angel and demon waifu.
>>31573996>Blow protag points at every possible opportunity to advance the plot.>Plot developments didn't result from us at all.Are you serious?
>>31574032We weren't resonsible for the battles, the gang, or the house.
>>31574053We were directly responsible for all of those for dumping a bunch of points to make that second morning interesting.
>>31574053The battles and gang are a result of the setting, us being targeted and the house are the result of us spending some absurd number of protagonist points to have an interesting morning.
>>31574095To be fair, I think we spent more PP on giving out kisses than that morning.
>>31573487You can’t help but wonder at what Kaname says, why she’s bringing you out here and providing an enchanted ward for privacy. But then again you aren’t dumb enough to straight up ask her if she’s self-aware like you are. So, you pull something that you find rather amusing given the situation. “What do you think this is, a harem anime?” you ask her. There is a long pause, one where Kaname looks at you, eyes trying to decipher something that they see in you. Finally, she sighs, a big, heavy sigh. You wait with baited breath. “No, of course not,” she says. Well…that was rather deflating wasn’t it. “Because if it was, we’d be all still be waiting on a girl for you to have your first kiss with, wouldn’t we?”Wait a minute…“But really, that’s just a ridiculous statement in every way.”Goddamnit…“Seeing as how you’re not a dribbling moron,”Well…“But you are dragging a bunch of innocent girls around and messing with their emotions.”Really now this is just getting ridiculous…“However,” her voice changes now, becoming a little more serious, “In answer to your real question.”Finally…“Yes, I know we’re in a show and yes, I intend to go through with it.”
>>31574170We also had much lower PP gains at that time.We have almost double the passive gain now that we did during that morning.
>>31574184And I'm done. Will be around for a bit, questions, yada yada.I would like your opinions on my writing this thread. I felt it was...meh.
>>31574184Hahahaha. Best girl.Kind of wish she told us she wasn't going through with it.
>>31574184>“No, of course not,” she says. >Yes, I know we’re in a show and yes, I intend to go through with it.wha! she lied!
>>31574184>“Yes, I know we’re in a show and yes, I intend to go through with it.”I knew she was going to be the difficult one.
>>31574184>I intend to go through with it.Prepare for lewdness.
>>31574217Thanks for running Guide!I made an ebook on Tuesday of this quest, and I'll be updating it every Sunday. Link to download the ebook will be in the pastebin: http://pastebin.com/kbGzcbDb
>>31574250Is that what she's saying? I'm a bit confused by that line, myself.
>>31574217It might be a bit hard to compare it to the nat 100 make out session, I thought it was alright. Thanks for running, I always like seeing this on my twitter feed.
>>31574254Forgot to turn my name back on for ebook post. Whoops.
>>31574184>“Because if it was, we’d be all still be waiting on a girl for you to have your first kiss with, wouldn’t we?”wha, hey.it wasn't my fault I had my first kiss stolen this morning
>>31574184SHE KNOWS.And she thinks we're toying with girls emotions. Gonna have to clear that up.But the important part is SHE KNOWS.
>>31574184>MFW every single girl in the harem is actually aware
I wonder what the watchers of this particular anime would be thinking about now...
>>31574217Is she saying she intends to go through with being part of the show or intends to try and take protag status from us?Thanks for running, btw.
>>31574184>Finally, she sighs, a big, heavy sigh. She will not be more tired of our shit than she is right here. We've reached peak annoyance.
>>31574271I'm pretty sure she's looking to secure the Best Girl spot so she doesn't have to worry about being put on a bus or otherwise written out of the show.
>>31574315yea. our show is pretty weird. we are having fun but I am honestly not sure our choices are making a good anime. I think we should put in more effort on that front.ESPECIALLY because we chose to be aware. as an aware character we get MINIMAL plot forced on us and must personally make it interesting
>>31574184Would I be overstepping my bounds if I said that Kaname has just leaped into the position of Primary Girl? Being the only other sentient person here so far is kiiiind've a big deal.
>>31574315Maybe that scrying thing can shut the audience out?
>>31574315Why can't I hear what they're saying? This is bullshit!>>31574350You're completely misunderstood the opening choice. IT wasn't whether we were sentient. We were always going to be sentient. It was our attitutde toward the girls.
>>31574184>“But you are dragging a bunch of innocent girls around and messing with their emotions.”I feel guilty now. That's not at all what we intended.Any ideas on how to explain that we're not trying to toy with the others?
>>31574361I'd say that now it's neck and neck between her and Tatsuko. We've still had very little meaningful interaction with her, while Tatsuko has officially declared war on anyone that causes us the slightest injury.
>>31574420What do you mean? We are trying to toy with the others. If it makes you feel like a shit, it should.
She doesn't think it's a harem anime. Then what kind of show does she think it is? Hentia?
>>31574254>>31574287Thanks man!>>31574321Well, she doesn't really have a good reason to take control of the show at the moment, does she?>>31574361Not particularly, that's your prerogative. But you don't know who else is aware. Or if any of them are. Or if Kaname thinks you're just on some weird school-wide American idol type things.
Got in right when OP said done...Anyways, didn't like her in her source anime so don't really care for her here.
>>31574392>You're completely misunderstood the opening choice. IT wasn't whether we were sentient.you completely misunderstood what I said in that post.I am fully aware that that the aware choice was not on whether we are sentient but our attitude to girlsI am explicitly saying that as an aware character it was explicitly told us that it is OUR JOB to make the show interesting because it wont do it automatically for us. in so doing we gained more freedom of choice on our action, behavior, and personality
>>31574449This is the stupidest reason to dislike or like a character in this quest.
>>31574439We're not toying with them. It's all in earnest. We just intend to be a polygamist.
>>31574454Freedom that we have squandered. We'd be much better off if we were ignorant.
>>31574504wut
Kaede had a violent reaction to kissing the MC when possessed by Slenderchan. She said there was one other person that knew about slenderchan, I think that the other person was Kanami.I think that Slenderchan isn't supposed to be part of the show. The reason Kaede had a ptsd flash back was because she knew that in harem anime the MC isn't supposed to kiss any of the girls. She had a ptsd flash back because she thought she gave away the fact she was sentient and that she ruined the show.
>>31574524our options were>Ignorant of our haremnever get anywhere, will they wont they kinda cocktease. We would have plot messing with our mind to do this>Awarewe are fully aware of our harem forming. plot will not work automatically and require us to be interesting.>Pervertwe are a huge pervert. again, plot will take care of things and mess with our mind.we chose aware, meaning we need to make the plot interesting ourselves, it is our job.he is saying we should have gone with ignorant (personally I think pervert was best)that being said we made our choice so we better actually do our job
>>31574454OUR JOB is to make sure Guide stays interested in these threads, not blindly follow whatever weird standards you think apply to a show.
>>31574636The ONLY thing I said we should do is try to keep things INTERESTING.Being interesting is good for1. keeping the fictional viewers entertained2. keeping the players entertained so they keep participating3. keeping the QM entertained so he keeps working on itI am saying we should take a conscious effort to make this interesting. as of now i am setting a strong trend to metagame to get the highest possible numbers.
>>31574615When we mentioned having met Slenderchan before talking to her, she made a very weird comment about how obviously we would have already met Slenderchan, then demanded that she know about future occurrences.I think that Slenderchan is actively targeting the Sentients for some reason, and Kaede realized that you were sentient when you mentioned being invited into the slenderbed.
>>31574703yeah, you're kinda crazy.
>Kaname is using enchantment magic to ensure privacyI wonder how she would do this if magic wasn't in the setting? Or spy on us without scrying?
>>31574744>>We should aim at entertaining quest instead of min-max the numberning>you're kinda crazy.sigh
>>31574745Whatever method she chose would only be good against in-universe methods, regardless. She probably knows this. So merely talking about being in a show with another sentient isn't an immediate go directly to jail thing.
>>31574745is it magic, or is it something else... something that doesn't come from the show...maybe we really are programs in the matrix that became self aware by accident and her "magic" is a hack that would have been technology in another setting
>>31574705Also note that the first time we had a SlenderDream, guess who we woke up to?Kaname. Who we now know is sentient. If we find out that Kaede's sentient as well, then Slenderchan is trying to bring sentients together for some odd reason, or at least is trying to get us to notice one another.
>>31574764>looking at this thread and coming to the conclusion we're min-maxing at the expense of anything elselike i said, kinda a nutjob.
>>31574787I gotta admit, inviting those girls into our gang sure does look like minmaxing something.Though it's a good thing we did, or Kaname wouldn't have revealed herself like this.
>>31574786You know, I don't think we ever did get an explanation for why she was there in our room.
>>31574786slenderworld could be the place we were pulled from in the first thread. It might be full of characters just waiting to be used in a story. Every time we interact with slender-chan, we pull her more and more into this story.
>>31574814eh. It was either that or have our cuddle duo blow them up, which would have been somewhat anticlimactic as well.
>>31574786>>31574836More importantly Kaname was stroking his lips. I think Slenderchan was trying to get Kaname to kiss him just like with Kaede. But, we woke up before she could finnish.
>>31574926Honestly, I interpreted the finger on the lips as a quieting gesture, to keep from waking Tatsuko.Context seemed to point that way. Heavily.
>>31574966My impression as well.
>>31574880Anticlimactic is better than a crowded orbit.
>>31574966She had her finger on our lips before we even woke up, matching Slenderchan's stroking us with a tentacle.I don't think you'd be trying to quiet someone who's still asleep.
I hope she gives us an ethics lecture. Morals and Protagonists 101
>>31575072Probably could point out that the harem thing is something the universe is throwing at us, and isn't entirely of our own volition.
>>31575127She knows that already. We can go deeper.
>>31575072And then we throw protagonist points up in the air to make more bitches fall from the sky.
>>31575127Or just point out monogamy isn't universal, or even inherently moral.
At some point next thread something needs to set John off on a page long rant about blue hair.
>>31575189Next thread is finally getting ms.black into the harem. Everything else is secondary.
>>31575189The reply? Use protagonist points to change it, dumbass.
>>31575150I just don't like how she said their emotions are being messed with.Because I really don't see that. >>31575189But blue hair is best hair.
>>31575207Not likely. If she's going to enter the harem, it'll be after she's seriously attempted to kill us and failed. She's crazy like that.
>>31575217>I just don't like how she said their emotions are being messed with.>Because I really don't see that. This is exactly why we need her to check our privilege.
>>31575189Mixed with some somewhat exasperated/insane laughter when we finally notice half the school has blue hair.
>>31575232>implying we don't love all our waifusi will cut you.
>>315752312 points to probationary. We can get that without attempted homicide.
>>31575247Like the nice slave-owner loves all his slaves. Do they even have a choice, at high affection levels?
>>31575232We have no privlidge, as sentient anime protaginists are not represented in the media AT ALL.
>>31575298>love is slavery
>>31575325>Attraction: Attraction is a measure of how much a certain female cares about you. Currently affection runs from 0-100, with 0 being “doesn’t care about you at all” and 100 being “Will do anything for you”Considering they become a permanent harem member at a mere 50 plus a sidequest... yeah, I'd say 100 is uncomfortably close to slavery.
>>31575371wut
>>31575371Yeah, love does that to people
>>31575391I don't think what I'm saying there is radical. I'm pretty sure Guide said affection is harder to get the more you have, and it probably decays faster at high levels too.>>31575422Creepy.
>>31575436You make characters named killfuck soulshitter that are loners, wear trenchcoats and have katanas, don't you?
>>31575391He is apparently a robot that doesn't understand how love works.>Beep boop what is emotion praise the omnissiah.
>>31575460Kirito is one of my favorite characters, yes.
>>31575499Ok, 5/10 for effort there. The irony was pretty good.
>>31574787Actually I referred to other threads in that instance.
I find it's pretty condescending of Kaname to say we're toying with the girls. John is obviously polyamorous and at least Aneko and Tatsuko don't mind.
