Previously: A Young Rocket went on a rescue mission to save civilian lives from a shipwreck out at sea. To her surprise and dismay, the ship's repel-tech system had been compromised by a breach in the hull, setting the stage for unknowns to lurk within.

After witnessing an older ranger die in a split second, the young Rocket committed to killing the perpetrator and following another to the source.
Meeting with an Esper leader of the brutal sea monsters, the young rocket attempted to talk down the hostiles, interrupted by the intrusion of a Tentacruel that sought to drown the ship.

Escaping with her life and her friend, the Young Rocket was swept away be a powerful underwater current to a land far and unknown.

Awaking upon a beach, she found herself to be lost and alone. In seeking out her friend, she met Kurojo of the Kahkori and his mentor, Mukon. As fortune would have it, the friendly humanoid "monsters" led her to their home, Kakarkiko village with promises of assistance in finding her friend.

Spending too much time idling, sunset caught them by surprise and the Young Rocket, along with a scared young boy set out into the dark. Finding her friend, and slaying the dreaded Nar-Kage in the process of return, she secured her new friend's position as a man and hunter, while making a name for herself amongst the tribe.

Though she fell ill, it is soon time for her to awaken to continue finding her way home!

Finally got through the backlog.

Also Psybeam +1. We can still get 3-4 ranks in aura skills and we have no other ranged moves if something resists Ice. It also counts towards ice beam creation so we aren't losing momentum.
>>
>>31395078
Ice Beam?

I think we should rank up Quick Attack, though, so we can chain it with all our attacks and give them all priority.
>>
>>31395078
I would like to spend these minor points in aura moves, yes.
>>
Tabletop guy here, the results are in, our party is a Scyther, Sneasel, and Pineco. Pineco player takes great pride in the fact explosion is on his list. I am disappointed that nobody took the Rhyhorn or Mudkip grafts that were offered, but such is life in AoPH-Hoenn. I really should have started them in Johto, considering their choices. Also rolling random pokemon for graft selection may have been a mistake.
>>
>>31395111
Upping quick attack and our ice skills could also get us Ice Shard for that type bonus.
>>
remember, fancy attack getters:

Rest is amazing.

We won't have much left over for any possible Aura skills, though.

Quick Attack, I think, is the most important thing we should learn right now. Psybeam is nice and all, but Quick Attack has so much more synchronicity with our other moves.

I don’t know how you guys haven’t figured out who our father is. We’ve inherited some of his moves (Snarl particularly), his initial favoring towards Ice-type moves, his stats, his viciousness (when we go into Evil Mode), Kurojo knows Aura and follows the path of the Sun, if Kurojo stole the egg, we’d have an option to trick him into giving us Danny for new Rocket implants, we’re well on the way to supplanting the hearts of the entire bird tribe with our fighting prowess and charisma... shall I make it more obvious?

Can someone please explain the above 20 stats to me? Prof's explanations make no sense and as far as I can tell, it's worse than sub20 skills. It doesn't even give a bonus to rolls!
>>
>>31395333
Basically:
>We auto succeed at any charm rolls that previously we would've had to roll for
>We can also now roll for more difficult charm things we normally would auto fail
>Also, we get a little hotter/cuter
>>
>>31395333
if foes have tenacity or charm of 10 or below, we auto-succeed on charm checks, no need to roll, 0% chance of failure.

So Prof, does that mean all the times we rolled in the past, the people or creatures we interacted with had Charm less than 10?

You were sick for what seemed like forever. The night that you killed the Nar-Kage the fluttering in your chest and the coughing got worse. You went to bed in Kurojo's house and woke up coughing blood and barely able to get out of bed.
Your lungs ached, and burned like they were on fire.

Every now and then you'd wake up in the medicine hut, hot and cold sweat streaming from your brow as an old bird took care of you. Her touches emitted a strange power that made you feel better, though she kept giving you a drink that made you really sleepy. Now and then you'd awake, coughing, more blood and spattering of red and phlegm coming up as your lungs attempted to empty themselves.

Even your gills bled.

There was one time waking up where you saw Kurojo visiting you. He held your hand and said something but you can't quite remember it. You went back to sleep, darkness stirring in your vision.

You had a dream in all that time that the Nar-Kage was back, creeping up to you from the shadows with its dreadful beak breaking apart into two parts of an obsidian maw. Silent as death, its blades shimmered and sliced clean through you.

At times you thrashed from dreams like this, even though you knew the thing was dead. It would still come after you in some dark corner of your mind.

You're given something to drink. Cool and soothing before being forced to inhale something else, causing you to cough out more.

But you start to feel better. Your lungs get to feeling cold again, the soreness and the pain begins to cease, the heat and strange cold recede as well.

Eventually, you open your eyes and you're very thirsty.

You're within a strange room atop a bed of leaves and other foliage pulled into the form of a bed. Colorful beads paint the light flowing in from windows as well as the doors, sending cascades of many different sparkling colors giving this room of wood and leaf an almost mystical atmosphere.

To your side you can hear Marine sleeping, and you wonder why she'd be hear until you figure that she must've caught what you caught too.

“Sorry.” You admit aloud with a sigh, moving to sit up and nearly flopping out of the bed as you try to push yourself up, catching yourself off balance.
You look to the cause of error and see that your left arm's been bandaged up and is quite a bit shorter than it should be.

Your pace of breath quickens as you stare at the lost limb. How many days? How long has it been like this? Where's my arm?
No. No. No. No. Where is it?

Your eyes dart around the room seeking an answer as the old bird comes in through the curtains. Her eyes set back and feathers bearing something of a gray. And yet, she doesn't look as old as the other ones that carry themselves like she does. There's a certain amount of spring to her step, and a fervent awareness.

“Sherulean.” You're surprised that she's capable of pronouncing the l as she bows her head slightly, taking a seat beside you.
“Kajani. I help you. Kurojo teach words. How do you feel?” She asks with a gentle, almost soothing voice as she places her old hands over your forehead, minding the horn as you stare back at her.

“M-my arm.” You grip the missing appendage,” Where is my arm? I need it.”

She hushes you,”I have it Sherulean. It is fine.” She assures you and guides you back to lying down.
“I find Kurojo. We help.” She brushes your messy red hair back, and you close your eyes, whimpering a little.

“Is Marine okay?”

“Marine is fine. Kurojo help you and Marine.”

You let out a deep breath of relief,”Good.”

It takes some time to properly get across some things with Kurojo as you have to fill in the missing words. You keep your eyes on him the entire time, and he fiddles with his fingers as he speaks.
He tells you about the Nar-Kage, that you're considered a Ranger of the Kahkori now and that they would make you a weapon or armor from the remains befitting your request.

Kajani comes in with your arm, still partially frozen and sits by you. She produces a needle and thread, showing them to you and you understand her intention, showing her your bandaged arm that's partially healed over.
She grimaces and taps it with a claw.“Need to...”

“You need to cut it open?” You tremble a bit and the crone nods, closing her eyes for a moment as she lets it sink in.
Swallowing hard,”Do you have anything that I can bite into? A stick or something?”

Kajani seems surprised by the request, though she barely skips a beat as she calls out of the room. You hear movement from beyond as beads swish. Kajani chatters something to Kurojo and he holds your other hand.

You grip it hard as you know what's about to happen.

Another bird comes in, trading off a gnarled root of some kind to the crone before it's offered to you.
The young dusky-blue bird looks to you, offering a little nod and a light chitter before setting down beside Kajani, washing the thread and needle as Kajani prepares a small blade, rinsing it off in a strong smelling substance.

“I will help now,”She warns as she cuts open the bandage, smearing a substance that seems to numb the wounded area a bit.
“Sheru will be okay with Kajani help. I say right?” You nod to humor the crone.

“Hana herp too.”

You barely feel the first cuts to reopen flesh as the surgeon does her work. You struggle to stay still as the uncomfortable pressures of the numbness betray the gruesome work that she does. You squeeze Kurojo's hand as he offers you the support, your claws retract once she's cut past the numbness and you feel him start to tremble from your freezing lacerations.

It ends soon and you bear relief as the dull stinging continues. You've embedded your teeth into the root, finding it a pretty bitter thing now to bite into.

She attaches the cold arm after scratching away a bit at it with her black knife and then places it back on, sending her needle and thread in deep as it's fed from the nurse. The Crone doesn't even seem to mind the chill of your blood as she carries on through what must be frigid work.

Let's see what they have available in terms of inter-island exploration. I doubt they all ride on rathosi (rathoses?) and Kurojo did imply that travel between islands does happen. At the very least, we should see what we can do about scouting and mapping out the island and its archipelago.

Swords are, realistically, sidearms. Since our guns are our main weapon, we'll keep the sword in a sheath on our side, and Crossroad Killing things with it.

Spear is too bulky, and we use guns, after all.

And it would also give you steel attribute defense... Until it breaks in one way or another.

You grimace at the damage you've done to Kurojo's hand and slowly remove your grip with an apologetic look,”Sorry...”
He doesn't say anything as he sets his hand down at his side, hiding away the pain,”It is fine Sheru.”

“Kuro.” You hear from the side and Hana's touching his shoulder, asking for his hand as she wraps it with a poultice, seeming very satisfied by the healing that's been done here.

“Um, I wanted to ask... How do I get home? Do you know where the mainland is from here?”

Kurojo immediately seems at a loss as he asks the other two birds, with preference to Kajani whom seems to be thinking about your question.

“Main-land? Not...”

“Far?”

“Yes. Not Far. Ranger go there. Do...”

“Work?” You ask with increasing bewilderment.

“Yes.”

“Do you know about the dome?”

“Dome?” It's her turn to look confused.

“What dome Sherurean?”

They don't know about it... You figure that they must be confused when you say mainland. They must not know about it then. But how much do you really want to tell them about the dome?

We can at least explain that "the dome" is our home/village, which is hidden because of the monsters.

Silph might not like having more neigbors, but fuck those guys.
I'm sure Giovanni would love to know about a group of sapients who are not only friendly, but actively helpful and possessing skills unknown to us but which would be very useful.
Might not be the best idea to bring one with us, but some sort of exchange would probably be a good idea.

Well, if the Kahkori have traveled to the mainland before, then our greatest challenge will be in surviving the trip, surviving the mainland, and in actually finding the Dome or, at least, any sort of contact with Rangers. I can sense the need for a lot of preparation here (especially for the journey, if the Kahkori need to make special arrangements).

Our Index has a compass function, but does it have any other navigation abilities?

We should ask them about where their Rangers (Hunters) go.
>>
Did Ceru ever learn to navigate by stars/constellations?

I know this was asked before but I don't recall an answer
>>
“The dome is my home,” You admit, breaking the confidentiality. “It's the city that I said that I was from. It's on the mainland and I need to get back home.”

Kurojo and Kajani exchange words in their tongue with Kajani leading the conversation. After a bit she directs words to you again in your own tongue.
“Sherulean, there is no dome on mainland. Kahkori rangers go there to work. To work monsters. Other people. We do not know of dome.”

“What do you mean? It's just on the mainland. It should be across the sea somewhere. It's big and made of glass... You know where Kanto is right? Oh wait.” You squint your eyes closed,”Right... Right you don't.”

“Sherulean. Kurojo can take you when you get better. Would Sherulean like that?” Kanaji nods to the red bod and her nods back.

“I am Ranger now. I can work for virrage, show you mainrand.” He seems pretty excited about it, though you feel as though there's been something lost in translation. These guys weren't in the Indigo reports...
“Oh, and what did you want from Nar-Kage?”

You look down to look at your tattered swimsuit, however you realize only now that it's gone... You've been sitting here without even your CGS on, gone from your person.

“Ah. Um... Clothes.” You whisper out meekly,”I need clothes. And where's my CGS, my index?”

“Shee-Gee-Ess is safe. We give back.” Kanaji slowly gets up, fluffing up her feathers as she stretches her old body out. “I get.” She makes way out of the roomm, with Hana nearly stopping her, likely to offer retrieval, yet the crone makes her shove off and follow after, leaving just you and Kurojo.

Did Cerulean just remember that the Dome is invisible to monsters?

Anyway, ask him what the village's Rangers do on the mainland. Also, ask him about what other people they work with.

See if they only interact with other Kahkori or if these tribes actually interact with one another.

“Umm Kurojo.” You grip the leaves with the claws of your right hand, pushing yourself up while taking good care to nurse your recently attached arm. You look the Kahkori in the eye for a moment before smiling a little,”Thank you. You've done a lot for me.”

“Yes,” He nods, staring at you expectantly for a moment.

“You're welcome. That's what you say when someone says thank you. It also goes together with Please. For Please, Thank you, and you're welcome.” You explain, and he nods again, adjusting his position a bit, his crest rising up with a bit of happiness.

“You're wercome Sherurean.” He scratches at one of his tusks a bit, his eyes looking away with a little embarrassment. “And thank you too.”

“For what?” You don't quite recall anything worth being thanked for...

“For dead Nar-Kage. I am ranger now. I go hunt with other rangers. Make Kakariko better. Herp peopre too.” He seems rather proud of that,”Sherurean is ranger. Does Sherurean herp peopre?”

You're about to answer when you think back to the missions leading up to when got swept away... Did you... ever really help anyone?

“Sherurean?” Kurojo seems to sense your hesitation and you force out a smile.

“I... don't really know. I try.”

Kurojo chuckles, thawing your mood a bit,”Werr. Sherurean herp me. So I thank Sherurean. So Sherurean herp peopre.”

“But.. that doesn't count. You were helping me.”

“Herp each other.” He chuckles again.

You sigh and open up your arms, or at least one with the other still too freshly attached. “Come here.”

“What?”

“Come here so I can hug you, I don't want to get up, but I'm not letting you out of here without a hug.”

Kurojo blinks at you, then looks to the beads,”How Sheru shtop-”
>>
You lean forward, feeling your stitches only strain slightly as you wrap your arms around Kurojo's neck, your head over his shoulder.
“I never thought I'd be hugging a monster...” You ponder aloud. Then again, if you were to count Bruise, you've kissed one... But that doesn't count. That was foul play.

Relaxing for a moment, you feel Kurojo's smooth feather mingle with your fur. He seems to hold his breath at first, yet then returns the gesture.
“Sherurean?”

Your eyes twitch to the sound of the beads parting. The blue bird, Hana's returned, walking past the two of you uttering gentle noises that are returned by Kurojo.
She sets down your CGS in a little roughly handled bundle before turning around and tending to Marine.

“Hana herp too. Thank Hana too.” Kurojo points at the blue-bird.

You look to her, almost purring,”Thank you Hana. You guys are great.”

Kurojo tells her what to say in response and the three of you spend some time working on the intricacies of language while you get geared up and wait for Marine to awaken.

You do a lot of explaining when she does...

okay so marine we got our asses saved by these birds.

How do we want to play this?
>>
Marine's flabbergasted by the end of it, but you think the Kahkori have at least enjoyed all the words at length.
“So let me get this all straight. We're on an island. We're being taken care of by good- not bad but- good monsters. They saved me, and then they saved us. That's the gist right?”

“Uh huh.”

“Cerulean, this is crazy. What if they want to eat us? I bet they think we look delicious! What if they were just waiting for us not to be sick and now- now- Oh Arceus, we're not in the dome. Ceru, how are we getting back home?!” Marine starts to panic, staring at Hana and Kurojo who've backed away to respect her space.

“I already told you, Kurojo said he'd help us get to the mainland where their rangers do work.” You're maybe a little too calm in the face of this, then again you've had more time to let it sink in. And Kurojo for better or worse is actually pretty reliable.

He looks at you a lot too, even though that's a little embarassing.

“But... but... Couldn't we just, you know- swim?” she makes little motions with her hands as though she were doing a breaststroke.

“You want to run into those fish monsters again? Or worse?”

“I don't know- You've already told me that you killed a thing with freaking blade arms!”

“The Nar-Kage, I told you it's the Nar-Kage!”

Marine folds her hands over her head and rocks back and forth a little. “I don't know, I just don't know what we should do about this. But... You're the rocket right? Like two years? Whatever I'll do what you say Ceru. But seriously. Bird people? How the heck did you talk them into helping?"

"Uhhh..." You recall your first meeting and wonder how you should word that.

"We bonded over martial arts."

Marine's jaw just about hits the floor,"What?"

"Really, they like it. The corrected some flaws in my punch."

"Sherurean good rearner. Mukon happy."

"Yeah, yeah, alright Mukon..." She waves off Kurojo before looking at you again,"Cerulean, REALLY?"

Kurojo says that it'll be a few more days until the clothes from the Nar-Kage are finished, and he offers to show you around the village.
Marine even comes along as she's finally accepted her fate.

“This is it. This is where they eat us...” She mumbles.

Kurojo just chuckles.

Kadabra and Machop were the only tribes the dome has had contact with in the past, and the Hypno is the most recent.

Come to think of it, Prof, why did Ceru feel surprised that the Kahkori weren't already known? Of what she knows about the reports, anyway. At this point, Ceru only knows that the Dome has made contact with 3 human monsters.

I think the Indigo Reports are also related to the movements of Legendary monsters.

I don't think we've had contact with the Kadabra. Pretty sure we only found out the Abra were humanlike after Sabrina captured one and grafted it onto Goldenrod.
>>
>>31398915
No, we've had contact with them. I'll go ahead and quote it.

>Giovanni closes his eyes,”More than one group. We've received mixed results. Some have also been soured by those that have not differentiated them from common monsters. They often label us as monsters based on the forms we must take to venture out so far... And we, them as we had no way of telling that they were different from the usual rabble. The contact 2 years ago involved the capture of a child. It was requested by...”
>“Me.” Sabrina finally speaks up. “It was a creature of burgeoning telepathic potential. That which my child had been severely lacking. We've been unable to locate it's true origin. There was however,,, Other contact prior.” Sabrina grits her teeth in frustration all of a sudden.
>Boss picks up now,”Leader Bruno had made contact with another group of intelligent monsters. His reports told that while they were wary and hostile at first, his feats of strength won their respect. They are however extremely wary of other Rangers and like to kill them if rubbed the wrong way.
>>

>>
>>31398955
I think "other contact prior" means the machops?

Er...yeah? That was the first contact. The second group encountered was the Kadabras, which prompted Sabrina to order the capture of one of their children.

>>

But she just said they've been unable to discover the Abra's origin.
>>
>>31399076
I think that means their home. Like Ni'Aras' home was a place called Eubrena.

Presumably, the Dome already knows where the Machop tribe Bruno met with lives.
>>
>>31399076
It says in his quotation that they met "more than one group". So, presumably, the Rangers met the Kadabras while they were traveling and captured one of their kids.
>>
>>31399136
We already know how the Abra was captured.

An Esper chased it, matching it teleport for teleport, until the Abra was out of power.
>>
We should ask about the other people the Kahkori encountered, like if they have prior experience with the Dagooons, Abra, Machop, or Hypno.

Well I mean, I mostly suggest it because we all have our own mental image for what Ceru would 'like best'. Some of us are trying to do it 'IC', though we don't really know what the mind of a teenage girl would want, and others just have preferred pairings they want to see.

But hey, if you do indeed play Ceru like I believe you do, that is with a personality for her in mind, then it'd make sense to give her small preferences in mind too when it comes to a bunch of stuff.
I am enjoying learning more about Ceru, on top of trying to learn to play her too.

All that on top of avoiding all the stupid husbando wars and such too. We'd have an anchor to go off of, instead of only our imagination.

>You have a sudden desire to feel Koga's Poison Jab...
>>
Kurojo takes you around the village, showing it off. You pass through gardens and some farms that grow, hanging from the trees as light cascades through the canopy down into the understory. The Rope Bridges sway, yet only ever so slightly and they are all very well maintained, even bearing an almost shiny finish to show off the craftsmanship of the Kahkori.

Some children play, jumping through the trees and at parts of the village below, playing what looks to be tag. They zip on by with grace all too similar to Kurojo's great leaps, though with much less raw power.

Marine watches them with some amazement, her fear having slipped away with how alien and almost magical this place is.

“It's way different from the dome...” She says, as she looks down with the actual ground of the village so far away. The river runs on down there with goldeen jumping through the more rapid portions of the waters.

“Yeah... I never would've thought that a place like this could exist...” Then you remember the village near the dome... But that one had repel-tech.. how...
“How do you keep monsters out?”

Kurojo clucks his tongue, his speech having improved in the past couple days,“Sometimes bigger monsters. Other times we trick them. Bad ones fear this place. Brave ones might get crose.” He looks back to you, his eyes meeting yours,”Anything you wanted to see?”

You look from Kurojo to Marine,”How about a training ground where we can spar? I need to make sure my arm's working right.” You flex your fingers, a bit of stiffness still pervading. You were separated for a bit too long.

“We have ground for that.” Kurojo motions toward the end of the bridge, hopping on down with the two of you in tow.

Marine just about barfs up her breakfast at the sudden shocks, though you feel quite a bit more used to it.
It's probably a good thing that she was asleep for when she was carried here.
>>
The three of you head for the “sparring ground.
There are several circles embedded into the ground with the grain of wood and polished over. Some older Kahkori supervise younger ones sparring. You notice that the circles have paint upon them almost like the fields that you used to spar in.

A circle in the center to meet, and then an outer border to determine the edge of the “field.” The training grounds are covered by a fabricated canopy to offer some smattering of protection from the elements.

Kurojo is acknowledged by a few of the older Kahkori, and it looks like at the pairs fighting are a male and female, two males, and another pair of males.
As they strike, parry, and block, you notice that the air is distorted by their fists and there lies the tinge of a mystical blue energy that seems to burn in the atmosphere without heat.

You point to that,”What's that... energy?”

Marine stares on,”It's almost like an aura or something...”

Kurojo seems to think for a moment, perturbed as you've seen before for a lack of the right word. “It is Aura then. We use it to fight.”

“Is that what you used against the Nar-Kage?” You ask.

He nods,”Yes, many Kahkori have it. Not all.”

“Is it something that you teach?” You ask as you stare on at the displays of nearly mystical violence. You've been wondering if there was something more to the Kahkori and why Kurojo could “sense” Marine. Is this why?

He pauses for a moment,”If you have it... Then yes.”

I think that's the implication of the second option, but I don't think it really matters in terms of whether or not Marine will learn. I think this is more about our own attitude; will we take charge and lead our fellow cadet into the unknown, or will we try to take comfort in the familiar and in the safety of groups?
>>

>>[] “Teach me.”

Time to get violently culturally enriched. This is gonna piss off Sabrina or something, isn't it? And we won't have any way to lie and Evil mode and sneasel our way out of her wrath since she'll know we have wave bending.

She'll know we have wave bending if she reads our minds. Yeah. Lemme do that.

The three month skip is to gain proficiency and some auto-ranks to aura-based skills.

Receiving the fundamentals will allow you all to continue on, learning Aura on the way. Kurojo will be traveling with you for a bit and once you've got the the fundamentals down then you'll be able to train as is.

It's not a vote as to whether or not you learn aura. You already voted for that. This is a vote for the time you take in returning which could end up as a big deal.

Not at all, actually. There are different styles to it, from what we can tell about the Gym Leaders. Koga, for example, is very dedicated to his job and has probably taken the most implants out of all the Gym Leaders. Compared to someone like Misty who takes only what she needs. Then Giovanni, who represents the other side of the extreme opposite of Koga; the Gym Leaders who don't have very visible grafts at all. Those kinds of Rangers have a personal sense of style and class that they maintain.

>>
>>31401489
They're convinced that this isn't a deathworld and that hugging everything hard enough will make it work.
>>
>>31401489
Operations are dangerous and, as there's no immediate threat to the livelihood of the Dome people, Rangers can become sentimental about their own implants.

The only gym that we know of that has adopted the policy of being robotic and emotionless is the Saffron Gym, and they look down on implants even though their own abilities would be bolstered even further by a few grafts here and there.

Despite living in a death world, our society has not adopted the policy of fascism because we are able to thrive even holding on to our "humanity".

taking the best possible combination of grafts possible is nowhere close to fascism

“I can get by with the basics. A good foundation is fine for me to learn on my own. I'm trained for that.” You explain, and he seems to take it in stride, chuckling again.

“Sheru is shtrong, I'd like to shee how strong you become. Strong hunters use aura.” He looks over to Marine, almost as though she's a second thought,”Marine can try too.” He nods, and brings the two of you over to an area closer to the water, a still pool where the river flows in, circles around, slows, and finally pours out.
He closes a sluice and the flow goes still. He wades in, and the water goes up just beyond his waist.

He beckons you both forward and you join him, the water coming up just above yours and Marine's navels. It's comfy though. It's good to be back in water.

“Watch, and feel.” Kurojo relaxes and the still water begins to emanate from him in subtle waves, picking up in strength with the build of his energy.

At its peak, he's not moving and the water's entire surface is rippling.

“You see aura. You feel aura. You must feel yours. See yours.” He steps out, shaking off the water from his legs, his feathers allowing it to run off fairly easily as he closes another sluice. “Marine here, and Sheru there. Try to feel. If it is there. Water will move. Stay still. Breath.”

Marine enters the other pool and the both of you try it. You meditate for some time and notice some subtle ripples, but nothing that you didn't really expect to see beyond the act of breathing. It's nothing like Kurojo's steady waves.

You felt it though, the way his force, his spirit collided with yours. It was something different, as though his presence had increased.

Increasing your presence?

You try to focus on that, letting out steady breaths and you notice a very slight change in the way the water's been moving...

Vacuum Wave has priority, right? Anyway, from our experiences so far, rank 3 would be the preferable level to have Detect at. Quick Attack should also be brought up to rank 3 so that we can finally chain it to other moves.

Force Palm is for penetrating armor. It's what Kurojo did to the Nar-kage at the end. Vacuum Wave, even at close range (maybe especially at that range), would still be devastating to most opponents. And it has priority.

>Aura Combat(1): Through the use of a mystical force known as aura, you have the ability to fight with a sight beyond your own and infuse spirit into your attacks at will. (+Aura rank to combat rolls limited by Aura Combat rank) Does not get applied to flying types*
>(+Aura rank to combat rolls limited by Aura Combat rank)
This part is completely unnecessary. Just say that it applies its rank as a bonus to all combat rolls (unless it's against a flying type).
>>
>>31402785

>>
>>31402793
Done.
Aura combat ranks add combat modifiers.
Its max rank is restricted by aura.
>>
>>31402809
Ok. We have Aura and Aura Combat. They're two separate skills or something. Aura is like Ten/Cha/Ing, except it works off of different mechanics and can't ever get decreased. So it's actually something else. Aura Combat is like Rocket Training, except different. It makes it so that you can apply Aura ranks to combat up to and including equivalency to whatever rank Aura Combat is. Moves that use aura can't be at a higher rank than Aura is.
>>
>>31402850
I don't think so anon.
>>
>>31402850
>It makes it so that you can apply Aura ranks
No, that was the part that didn't make sense. It doesn't apply aura ranks. It applies its own rank, which is limited by the aura stat's own rank.
>>
>>31402949

>>
>>31402949

You feel the waves really begin to move, radiating away from you through the pond.

It takes a while to really build it up, but you eventually get the hang of it, feeling the eyes of other Kahkori on you as you practice, intrigued by your display.

The stranger training in their aura, right? But this is just the beginning.

Marine builds up something akin to yours, and even a bit greater after she puts more effort into it.

It's strange though. By the end of it, despite the fact that you've just been standing in water and breathing, you've both worked up something of a sweat.

The next day, Kurojo teaches the basic principles behind detection, the vacuum wave attack that he unleashed before, and a few other intricacies of aura combat.

Whether it's you being your mother's daughter, or your prior training, you've quickly grown accustomed to a few core techniques by the end of the week.

Your learning may have been a bit hindered from nursing your arm.

You're eventually liberated from the shackles of nudity when a few of the Kahkori that had been working on altering the hides.
They based the design off of what you'd been wearing before, giving you something like a bikini-bottom with a top joined together by an odd weave of organic metal mesh. You test it out by tring to cut at it and find that it actually very easily nullifies your own attempt.
The outfit's completed with an almost full sleeve that runs over your left side, protecting the arm that had been cut

While you hadn't intended to make a habit of it, you appreciate the thought.

With the materials left they present Kurojo with a long blade that seems to have been taken and refined directly from the corpse, and Marine receives well... Some woven plainclothes to protect what dignity you guys care about.

Kurojo explains that she did not kill the Nar-Kage, and that she has no place in the Kakarkiko yet.
Marine seems a bit miffed but understands it overall- that is to say after you calm her down about it.

Looking at the armor in a frozen mirror of your own creation, you can't help but to admire how it looks. It fits you, it's not uncomfortable, and it's very well made... They made it. For you.

You revile how you're hair's become a mess and that your fur's tangled in some places. No brush, no come, no amenities. You've been going in what they pass for bathrooms and staying at Kurojo's house.

The fresh running water is nice though, even if it isn't quite filtered. It's a bit odd to have some of the fish monsters just swim past you, repel-tech or no.

It's... been an experience, and though you kind of like it here, you also kind of hate it. Your fur's never been this matted... And Kurojo... Well... Since you've learned aura, you've felt his intentions a bit more in the raw.

He respects you. He admires you. It's a little weird, but it's also kind of nice. Just like everything else.

But you need to go back to the dome. You need to let them know that you're alive, to see Lilac, and Bruise, and Goldie, and everyone else again.

You can't waste more time here with all these really, really nice... People.

Kurojo said that he'd take you and Marine to the mainland... He explained that you three could ride on the backs of one of the younger tree monsters around here by request to get over to the mainland after stopping at two other islands.

After that, it'd be a case of getting them to fly to the mainland, and then there would be the city that their rangers go to for work.

But what then? You don't know of this city, and it can't be Kanto...

The oldest woman is master of her house. What she says goes so long as you're in there.

You ask Marine about the first contact with the Kahkori and what she thinks of them.

“Well... I didn't really know what to think. I mean, they're not like any monsters that we've heard about, right? And well, Kurojo's kind of mean, but he seems to really like you Ceru, so... I don't know. They're not bad.” Marine looks to you as she sits at the edge of the village's river, letting the current sweep past her feet, kicking every now and then for splashes.

“I like them. I miss home, but I like them. They saved our lives and... I don't know. I feel like we owe them something.” You sigh and relax by the water's edge, slipping in for a moment to liberate yourself with the feeling of swimming under water.

You surface, launching a short spray at Marine.

“Bah! Ceru! Bah! Stoppit!” She says covering her face and splashing back at you.

Treading water against the slow current, you look to Marine,”Hey, you wanna go home, right?”

“Huh?” Marine's taken aback,” Of course I do, what about you?”

You swim off. You don't want to answer that. You're not really sure of the answer yet.

You pay Kanaji a visit, working out the whole thing about going to the city. She tells you that it's something of a journey, but it shouldn't take more than a week.

“I'll admit that I am surprised you are still here Sherulean.” The crone speaks without eyecontact, grounding up a few herbs with mortar and pestle before handing some of it off to the assistant that glares at you. Hana's the nice one.

“Why? You wanted me to leave?” You ask, innocently not understanding.

“No. By all means, I enjoy the company. You seem rushed though. Kurojo could've left with you any of these days...”

Your eyes go wide,”Really?” You feel a bit stupified.

“Yes. Did you not ask?”

“Ah... Um... No.”

Kanaji points at you and then to her veil of beads. “Go ask. Go home. Hurry now.” She chuckles as you run on out.

Thread archived, Prof.

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/31394287/

And I just now noticed that you labeled this as thread 35. Hah!

It's been a cool thread, even though we didn't get much momentum beyond the gifts and the aura learning. The pacing was pretty slow, though, because we weren't moving that much. Well, I'm sure next thread's road trip will fix that. 'Till then and thanks for running.
>>
>>31403695
So what aura moves did we end up with?
>>
>>31403675
>>31403695
It's amazing that Kurojo's allowed to travel on his own (even if he's being accompanied by two rangers). I suppose the wave reading ability of the Kahkori is really useful for avoiding contact.
>>
>>31403785
Judging from the description here
>>31402974
>The next day, Kurojo teaches the basic principles behind detection, the vacuum wave attack that he unleashed before, and a few other intricacies of aura combat.

We learned detect, vacuum wave, and aura combat.
>>
>>31403698
>wut? Kina jst wnt sum d.

>>31403785
Most popular was Detect and Vacuum wave, right?

It's a maybe.
>>
>>31403833
Humans are the ??? type by default, not Normal.
>>
>>31403811
>Looking back on the third.
Aura Combat.

Most people agreed on maxing out the first two, but I'm not sure which way we swung for Aura Combat; whether we'd put 1 point in it or 2, although I think the majority wanted it maxed too.

>>31403814
>>31403833
>>31403835
Fighting types are biologically predisposed towards "fighting", right?
>>
>>31403835
>He's a hunter.
Yeah, but I don't think our rangers usually travel on their own.
>>
>>31403841
Actually, surprisingly, I think Fighting is as much mental as it is physical.
Which is why Espers excel against them. They can read their moves and fists.
>>
>>31403857
they got their ways
we've got ours

different strokes
>>
>>31403859
Oh, true, true. It's instinctual for them, I think.

Perhaps that's how moves are inherited from the father; they instinctively know how to copy the moves.
>>
>>31403835
>unless their M-virus adjusted to it
I guess this is how humans started becoming monsters out in the wilds.

Also, you totally opened up the possibility of there being a village of fae-ish people that started out as kids kidnapped by Fairy types.
>>
>>31403865
I was just noting down that the difference may be because of their ability to sense waves/auras.

Like how Atton from KOTOR II resists force mind reading (or tries to anyway)

Yeah, basically the same. pseudo evil, but evil for the sake of typing.

>>31403957
It can be
>Super dark, evil and twisted imagination shocks enemy esper's mind
>Primal, raw, instinctual thoughts make prediction difficult, or near impossible
>Stoic, precise assassin like hits. Only think of your hit the second before you do it. Hitman style.
>>
>>31403957
Full on Evil types rely on negative emotions to repulse and block out psychic interference, but pseudo Evil types instead momentarily shut off their minds to act instinctively.
>>
>>31403957
There are different kinds of evil types.

Devon is the walls of HATE AND RAAAGE AND PARANOIA. Others are completely blanked out "I will rip out your spine and not even devote a single thought to the matter"
>>
>>31403983
It's not about actual Evil types vs pseudo Evil types. Pseudo Evil can still be the strong negative emotion type and full-on Evil types can still be the blanked out assassin. Which one of those it is depends on the species of pokemon.

>>
so.

have we added the birds to the pokedex yet?
>>
>>31404231
Might not want to without talking to Boss first.
>>
Well, after re-reading this thread, I don't think Prof was too distracted by conversation. The pace was just slow since many of the options in the beginning were just back and forths. The pacing was really the only problem; we were never really able to get into a proper run. More like a comfortable trot.

Looking forward to us traveling with Kurojo. I wonder if we'll be traveling with any supplies or if we'll be moving light and hunting for our needs. It might be a while until the next time we meet him, so hopefully we'll be properly able to develop a strong relationship with him during our journey. Maybe the next time we return to this village, he'll be one of the leaders and riding on a rathas mount.

And I found it a little funny how he snubbed Marine a little. At this time now, I guess we should understand his tastes. He likes strong people. Maybe he'll hook up with another hunter, if he's not the wishy-washy type to get hung up over his meeting with the 'stranger who helped him become a man'.

>>31404259
Yeah. We might properly catalog them like we did for the Hypno, but who knows how Boss might react upon learning about their Aura/Wave abilities.
>>
>>31404304

But I'm sure Giovanni would love having such a tool under the control of the Rockets (who are, of course, the only Rangers who can be trusted to responsibly teach and control the spread of this technique within the Dome).

>Fighting gym run by a leader that isn't even a fighting type
>That is actually -weak- to fighting types
>>
Huh. I just realized.

Ceru will be able to read Devon. I mean, there's going to be the obvious dark thoughts he has. But. She'll be able to read beyond that.
>>
>>31404551
Yep. She's not going to be dense/naive/oblivious anymore.

I'm curious as to whether Lilac is /u/ or if she's just really friendly and spookyweird. I also wonder if it will even work on her at all because spooky ghost immune to fighting, but I dunno if mediums actually count as ghost for the purpose of type matchup. I mean, I think they might based on her interaction with Bruise, but I dunno.
>>
>>31404551
>meet devon after all that
>insults us and calls us fatcat
>ceru reads his intent
>ceru blushes DEEPLY
>>
>>31404569
Ceru, even if she doesn't know what sex is, understands what being attractive and erotic is at the very least.

Lilac, on the other hand, has spent her entire life in the Spire surrounded by the dead and living vicariously through the memories of their death throes.

Given the strong following in the past for Devon or Goldie, and that Prof really only listed Devon, Goldie, and Bruise as possible LI, it seems like she's just going to be limited to compassionate love.

Still looking forward to that one anon finishing that fic with Ceru and Lilac.

>>31404711

>>
>>31404720
no idea.
How long have we been out so far, I wonder?

week or two is my estimate.
>>
>>31404672
I wonder how Ancient Power may be interpreted here. A form of geomancy, perhaps? Instead of just telekinetically lifting up chunks of ground to fling at the enemy, it would be the manipulation of the ground itself?
>>
>>31404726
Marine would be rather scary to fight, I think. She's pretty much the definition of "Bulky Water". Even without Aura, I think she'd have given Kurojo some trouble if they had to fight.

>She's gonna have a huge poofy afro when she evolves, isn't it?
I was thinking that it would go from shortish dreads to really fuckin' long dreads.
>>
>>31404749
Long plant-hair-dreads.

Also marine is the secret champion. She can probably punch these birds in half with her might.
>>
>>31404747
Uh, much longer than that, I think. Much longer.
>>
>>31404749
>I was thinking that it would go from shortish dreads to really fuckin' long dreads.
Well yeah, but that's going to be a lot of trouble to drag around. It might be more comfortable to tie it all up in a ball.

I wonder if she learned Force Palm instead of Vacuum Wave? It'd fit her better.
>>
>>31404765
well, really, how long have we been out?

we've been on a mission, which only took a couple days. Then we were washed away, which takes a single day. Then we had a day of adventure. Then we had a span of sickness that was measured in days, rather than weeks.

We've not been gone for long at ALL.
>>
>>31404748
Well, it only has 5PP, so it's going to cost 20% Stam every time you use it. It's going to need to be really good.

So Prof is probably going to make it so that the "boost every stat" thing activates every single time. That'd turn it into more of a Super Saiyan boost and less of a shitty 60BP Rock special attack. Maybe let it keep some damage by blasting away some rocks in a force wave or something.

At least that's what I'd do. It's worthless as a damage move anyway.
>>
>>31404776
Uh, yeah? Approximately that time?

But that's not related to Lilac's probationary period at all. You do know why she's on probation, right?

She already ties it back when not in use. The only difference is that now it would hang down her back and look cooler.

>I wonder if she learned Force Palm instead of Vacuum Wave? It'd fit her better.
She almost certainly did. I suspect she went with V.Wave and F.Palm, no Detect. Cause, y'know, Pewter Style. Stand and face the threat; no sissy dodgin shit.

Oh, yes, that would make sense. A vest or a jacket would be good. It'd have to be something that wouldn't conflict with the Nar-kage armor's own collar.
