Previously: A White Being found a lost friend within the jungle's night.

A mentor of a young bird arrives to offer his assistance, the strange people find that the friend of the White one is rather different from what they had expected.

Bringing the injured back to the village, they are ambushed by predators of the night.
The great cats of electricity and the dreadfully sharp Nar-Kage.

The mentor lost a hand to the wicked beast, yet the White One proved stronger than she seemed, using a strange machina to maneuver within the trees and strike back against the silent hunter.

The Young Bird delivered the finishing blow, yet it had been the White One to fight the monster.

Dying without a sound, the Nar-Kage fell, and the people celebrated.

It's been two days since you found the White Stranger, Cerulean at the fishing hole. There was something honest and kind to her wave even if it had felt a bit off when you first met her. Even as she sat there crying like a mankey fledgling.
You were surprised that she was so eager to find her friend even given her predicament and her state. She felt hungry, and freshly ravaged by something. You could sense the sea upon her. Could she have been from there?

You had promised to help her find her friend, though you hadn't been aware of how late the day had gotten, even as Mukon warned you against the dark. You still feel it from when father put you to the floor after you tried to sneasel out of your promise. Not in your body, but in your pride.

You nearly shamed him and disappointed Ceru.

She was more capable than you had thought, and yet...

Two days. She's been bedridden and stricken by fever since the two of you found her friend, who oddly enough doesn't look like her and suffers the same.
Kajani, the old wave healer has been looking after the two of them in her medicine nest. You're visiting again today, parting the curtain of beads and nodding to Kina and Hana, assistants to the matron.
They acknowledge your presence,”Visiting the strangers again today Rojo?” Kina looks to you, her eyes half-lidded and seeming a little bored for whatever reason.
“Yes. She is my responsibility as my guest. Does she not honor you?” You puff out your chest and raise your crest proudly. Back straight and form flexible, like Mukon taught. This is how a man should carry himself.

Kina clucks her tongue a bit at your display, yet rolls her eyes and returns to crushing herbs for a poultice, their scent permeating the air with rich and stinging fragrance alike. This is one that causes a good pain.

“Strangers are more work. I'd rather take care of fledglings like other girls of my age, but mother says I must learn medicine from the crone.” She shakes her head and scoops out the mixture of berries and bitter herbs with a hand, smearing it into a leaf,”And here I am, talking to a young new man that killed a Nar-Kage as his first hunt.” Kina stares at you for a moment as you chose not to acknowledge her unsavory words.
“The Stranger is where we left her yesterday, and the day before that. Her condition worstens, though it is slow. I have not seen this illness.” She points back through other veils of beads.

You bow your head, and carry on without looking back at her. You hear her sigh and chatter quietly to herself.

Hana carries water-sap to the back, apologizing for Kina's behavior.
“Sorry she is like that, Mukon is here now too if you wish to see your mentor.”

“It is fine, and I know. I feel his wave here. His hand, is it-”

“Fine it is Kurojo.” You hear his old voice from beyond the beads, “I'd almost do without it to forever remember the day you were made a man.”

“Hunter Mukon, please do not joke like that.” Hana chides, as she enters his healing chamber, “You have others of the flock to teach.”

“They may be taught fine by a one-handed mentor. But this one is my brother's son. The distorted Nar-Kage at that!” He bellows out in a cacophonous laughter, only to be shushed by Kajani.

“There are others sick here!”The crone hisses out from Cerulean and Marine's healing chambers.

“Indeed, I am sorry Wave-Healer. My mirth got the best of me.” He seems to bow his head as a shadow beyond the curtains. “Jojo, you have a moment? Come and sit with me.”

“Hunter Mukon, there is no drink here-” Hana tries to reason with him, yet he's insistent.

“Nonsense, we will drink of the water-sap!”

“I'll be back in a moment Mentor Mukon, I must see the white one, Ceru and her friend.” bringing your claws together, you bow to him. Your father's brother, your Uncle. He taught you well of the Hunter's Wave. The Wave used to track, kill, and deceive prey. While you excel at the two prior, the third is something that you need to work on. Cerulean's calls were different though, more like a Kahkori, and less like a beast. More rhyme and reason. You could feel her intentions expressed clearly through the wave.

You enter through the veil, and see the Crone sitting before the two, spreading Sap-Water upon their stomachs and stirring their energies with her healing waves.

Since yesterday their minor wounds have mostly healed, it's Cerulean's frozen arm- at both points- and the sickness that'd holding them back.

“Here again then Kurojo? You are the reason Mukon had raised such a fuss?”

“Yes Elder Healer, I apologize for my mentor.”

“Worry not of it. I'll have none so young apologizing for the old while my old bones still draw breath.” She brings up a haggard claw and points over to a woven mat at the foot of the bed. “Sit now, I must speak to you.”

“What of, Elder Healer?” You ask as you comply with her order. She is the head woman of this nest. Her word is respected as law here as custom demands.

“The girl's arm is still covered in the ice-water as it drips away day by day. It is preserved and the flesh is still strong and alive. Her wound is clean and it does not fester with the Nar-Kage's poison as I have neutralized it. The issue is in her- their sickness.” The crone looks to you with her deep old eyes.

“I have not seen this sickness for a long time you see. It has not plagued our people for a long time.”

“Forgive me if I am wrong Elder Healer. But are you saying that you cannot cure their sickness?”
>>

>>
The crone shakes her head, closing her eyes, “As it is, I cannot. We have not collected the remedy in generations since the sickness plaguing us.”

“If I may ask, what is the sickness?” You speak carefully, looking over the white one and her friend as they lay upon the beds. Speckles of red stain the fur around her mouth, and you can feel her labored breathing. Her condition is not good.

Kajani seems to catch your eyes wandering, “Blood. It's been coming up in their fits. The sickness is the 'Red Tide That Breaks Waves.' When it ailed us long ago, it ceased our breath and ceased our hunter's waves. Not even monsters would come for us when they caught wind of our sickness.”

The healer returns to her ministrations, sending the wave through the girls' bodies.

“Will they recover?” You nearly hold your breath,”Will it spread?”

“It will not spread.” The Healer hangs upon that word, going silent for a moment,”Yet... I am unsure that they will survive. Without your help.”

“My help?” You look to the Elder crone, “What can I do? I am no healer!” You raise your voice to the crone, and she quickly shushes you as she did with Mukon, baring her old teeth as she does so.

“You are a man, and now a hunter. You will hunt for their cure.”

Kurojojo's Bizarre Adventure NOW!
>>
You bow your head in contemplation for a moment. What would your father deign to say? What would he find most honorable?
“I will hunt for their cure as my elder wishes. What must I find?”

The crone appraises you, nodding her head slowly,”Good, good. You're casting out your fear Kurojo. Did the white stranger help you?”

Your crest falls back,”Elder, I do not think-”

“It was with her that you faced the hunter's nightmare, the Shadow Not Heard. Nar-Kage. Most your age kill an okorizaru or some other beast that can be felt through the wave.
When you feel fear, such a monster knows it. Wave or no.” The Elder closes her eyes and shakes her head with her beak calmly shut.
“Another matter for another time however.”

The crone speaks to you of what you must find as she finishes treatment upon the two. Each have their own round of hacking coughs, speckles of blood coming up and leaving them looking worn.

You learn that there is an herb known as the “Blue Burst” that was written to heal the Kahkori from the Red Tide That Breaks Waves. At least enough to allow them to recover on their own after some time.

It's located on the other side of the Dead Fire's summit in the shade. Kajani warns that there are likely to be monsters up on high such as airmds or the dreaded rathas that roost there. As they dominate the mountain, it's less likely that you'd run into Nar-Kages, though there is also the chance that you'd run into the other Hunter's bane.
Qapeca.
Though they're likely on another island around this time of the seasons.

The White One says something, her blue feline eyes looking into yours with a sense of loss as she reaches out to you with her cold amber claws glinting through the tips of her fingers, “Kurojo. Am I going to die?”

“No Ceru.” You say in her tongue. “Kurojo find thing. Make you and Marine better.” You grasp her hand, and fold your claw around it. You need to save her. Save them.

You depart from the room before Kajani takes her leave, running into Hana as you turn the corner from the veil of beads.

Huh. Is the Red Tide making Ceru's body reject itself? Maybe the Red Tide was some sort of cure made in the past to cure the mutants...but then people found out every human has already been infected with the M-virus...
>>
>>31333240
Kurojo got quite the status bump, huh? The birdies be falling all over themselves for him.

Full-On Oblivious Route.

>>31333297
It comes from Madoka. The writer referred to himself as a "Healing Type Writer." Meaning that Madoka was a work that would be happy and emotionally healing to the viewers. It turned into a minor meme among the fandom because of how dark Madoka is.

It's ironic. So, when I say that AoPH is a healing-type quest, I mean that horrible, awful things are going to happen to fat-cat loli and all her friends.

Also true, but I'm trying to tie it in with what mom said in Ceru's dream; of avoiding the Silver Peak.

>>31333892
>I'd explain my reasoning for why I think that Prof letting us craft batshit crazy theories without telling us things he thinks we already know was part of why the shitstorm occurred, but I understand why I look like a troll.
That he did not bother to tell people that the Dagoon would not go crazy and attack the hostages (which resulted from the way he described them and their relationship with their leader) or that he did not understand what the image of the catwalks were in everyone's head (related to the major problem) are all minor offenses compared to the real reason everyone got angry, although they are not unrelated.

And none of that actually relates to the current situation of people making theories on what the Red's origins are.

“Hana... I...” You look away from her for a moment, tilting your head back in the direction of the strangers. She looks up at you, the warmth from her wave increasing for a moment.
“...Was wondering if you wanted to help the strangers too?”

Hana rights herself, looking directly at you with her deep sapphire feathers of youth. Glistening in the green light filtering through the understory,”Yes, I'm worried about them. Elder Kajani told me of their condition and the Blue Burst roots for treatment. She spoke of it yesterday. I would like to assist you- with Elder Kajani's permission of course.” The edges of her beak pull up as her Yellow eyes smile to you.

“I would be honored. I'll be leaving shortly for the mountains-” You snap forward, staring in the direction of your Uncle's powerful wave. “-After I speak to Mukon.”

“Ah. Of course.” She tips her head and passes to the side, tapping you upon the shoulder,” Be strong, we'll find it.”

“I know.” You walk down the hall, your talons clacking away at the floorboards as you part the beads to Mukon's chamber.

“Ah, Jojo. You look like you bear the weight of the land upon your shoulders. What in the distortion's happened to those two?” His mirth drains as he leans forward to you more seriously, patting a mat at his side with his good hand.
The other's still cast into a sling, bound with a fresh poultice that Kina must've been making... No, the herbs are different. The blend is sweeter and more fragrant...

You sit and share some time with your uncle, telling him about what you must do for the strangers.

“It takes a good man to go so far for ones he's just met.” Mukon chuckles, clucking his tongue at the end, “This is what makes me proud. You face your fears when another's life is on the line.” Mukon touches your shoulder, squeezing it firmly, feeling the strength within your body and soul.

“This is what makes you a good hunter. Your comrades will never need fear you fleeing from them.” He wraps an arm around your neck and pulls you against his shoulder into a one-armed embrace.
Returning it, you wrap your arms around your uncle's back and hold him tight.

You never told anyone how you froze up. How you froze up, yet the stranger snapped you out of it- Cerulean snapped you out of it. You did not run, but...

“You'll do fine so long as you protect others Jojo.” Mukon whispers in your ear. He pulls back for a moment before bumping foreheads with you as is his violent custom.

Rubbing your head sorely, you take his advice in stride,”Yes Uncle... Yes, yes...”

You feel a hard wack of two fingers right as you pull your hands away. “One more thing!” Mukon peers outside the curtain before talking low and quiet.
“Think that Hana's something? She's a young pretty thing, think I might try courting her. Need a wingman to fight though. No sense in it if there's no competition, right?”

“Uncle, aren't you too old for that?” You whisper, glancing outside nervously. You hope Hana doesn't hear this.
Mukon pulls back,”What's this? Jojo doesn't want a few fledgling cousins?” He slaps his leg and laughs out loud again, only to be shushed from the other room by Kajani.

You clench your jaw shut and hold your crest down with embarrassment,”Really Uncle? Really now?”
>>
>>31334406
Dirty old man.
>>
“Ah, shush you. Haven't you got a hunt? Go get at it. I'd lend a hand but as you can see- I'm a touch short of one!” Mukon laughs again at his own joke, garnering the swift attention of Apprentice Kina.

“Hey... Can you stop doing that? The hag's getting upset with you.”

“Let her be upset, I'm seeing off my nephew and student for his first hunt since his impromptu initiation!”

“Right... Well, she said that she's going to cut it off if you keep being loud.”

“What, my hand? Fine witho- “

“-No, She's going to cut -it- off.”

Mukon blanks, instantly growing meek,”Ah, I offer my most sincere apologies. I meant no offense to the matron's nest.”

Kina chuckles a little to herself, covering her beak with a hand,”Ah huh. Uh huh.” She flicks the curtains closed and struts off.

Between the two of you, you're both left wondering... Was she serious?

It's early noon by the time you leave with Hana. She doesn't seem too scared, after all, it's night that the real terrors of the jungle come forth. The treetops during the day are relatively tame.

The two of you follow the break of the river, catching view of young tropius separate from the herd drinking some water from the river. Kintos jumping upriver, likely those that the fishers have let pass. Catching them all would mean less for all.

Hana keeps up with you as a fellow Kahkori should, though she is a tad bit slower than you given her profession...

Seeing Hana fall behind, you slow your pace a little to match hers. Obviously she doesn't have a hunters speed. It wouldn't be right to force it on her while she's helping out.

She seems grateful for it, though it also seems to make her more anxious as the two of you leap through the jungle's old trees.

The elders say that they've been around since before the first of the Kahkori. You aren't familiar with all the stories as you are no storyteller, yet you have heard that these have always been here for as long as the Kahkori have been alive, plucked from the heavens for challenging gods and stripped of their wings.

Yes, your people once had wings. If you remember right, they were made of metal, and and it was said that your people's flight would make the sky thunder and the land shake.

That's all well and good for a story though. Your people fly just fine now in their own way, through these ancient trees.

You can feel their waves. The harmonies clashing and mixing with each other, synergizing with the other monsters that make them their home.

Insects, monstrous flora, and beasts like okorizaru and eipom that live amongst the trees. The two of you carry on past a few namakeros hanging amongst the trees, hanging there lazily with moss sprouting from their backs.

The sight of them makes you feel like slowing your pace as you've already slowed your down a bit. What's a bit more going to hurt?

Drowzy, you eventually slow down to a halt by early afternoon, heading up to the canopy to see just how far the mountain is: It's looming over top of the two of you now. The Blue Burst is at the summit in the shade?
Right?

Dropping down to the understory where Hana waits, she seems to have drifted off into a light nap.
That's looking like a good idea. It's pretty hot out today after all.

Eevee.
>>
>>31335670
Nah, it wouldn't make sense if it came from a previous evolution.

A more rational explanation that doesn't include them knowing about airplanes is them having a special evolution requirement that doesn't exist on their island anymore. Like the Bliger needing to eat a dragon, or the Nar-kage having to master a special move.
>>
>>31335605
I got the impression that Team Rocket was at least as responsible for the whole "Lie to the civvies" thing as Silph. I mean shit, we made up that lie about rogue eevees after the whole Esper thing.

And it came up when we talked about that report that details all the crazy shit that the legendaries do that civvies are just outright not supposed to hear.

Also, how dare you question our glorious protectors at Silph Co?

I'm not so sure about that. The government is the Indigo League, isn't it? Team Rocket is like... the FBI or something.

Silph has a lot of power because they own everything and they're rich. They can call a lot of shots, and they have enough power to get Giovanni's attention when they need it.

We do jobs for Silph sometimes, but they don't own us. Our true loyalty is to Lord Giovanni and to no one else.

You resist the urge to sleep despite your heavy eyelids. It must be an effect from the namakeros. You must've accidently caught one yawning and gotten drowsy yourself.

Shaking your head, you push it back and rouse Hana, whom awakens with a sluggish stretch.
“Oh, hello Kurojo... Wait... weren't we doing something?”

“Blue Burst. We need to finish going up the mountain Hana.” You pick her up, between her light frame, and your strong body it's easier than lifting up the white one... You notice that Hana lacks the muscle definition that Cerulean had as hidden as it was by that layer of... whatever that was.

She yawns again and you shake her even as she slowly rubs at her eyes, ignoring your mistreatment before she settles her feet back down upon the branch of the tree.

“Awright.” She yawns,”Let's keep going.” She fluffs up her feathers to try to shake away the drowziness as you follow behind her, making sure that she doesn't fall asleep mid-jump.

She does fine for the most part, though she's slowed down a tad bit more. At least she's still moving. You begin to worry that you'd already be there if you hadn't brought her along...

Your responsibility. Two lives hang in the balance.

The two of you ascend the mountain into the evening, taking to talon and ground as the great-ancient trees thin out around the mountain, leaving you two to more exposed trails and forcing you to leap up and over the ledges here and there.

As you progress, you feel a disturbance in the wave from the distance, something's coming down the mountain.
>>
>>31336049
Does each Dome have its own megacorp?
>>
You call to Hana to stop and advance before her, taking her by the hand and leaping off to the side as a raging boulder flies past, almost changing directions at the last moment as if to smear the two of you into stone.
More begin to come down, as if the rocks are having a race. They're smashing into whatever obstacles lie before them as though it would score them some kind of satisfaction...

You feel a cave leading into the mountain from some distance away through the wave.

Hey Prof., I'm gearing up to run a tabletop AoPH game set in Hoenn, and I was curious, how do you see Magma and Aqua relating to Hoenn's ranger corps? I understand team Rocket because it was always implied that they had a legit front business, but Magma and Aqua were always explicitly eco-terrorists.
>>
>>31336506
It does only have 5 PP.
>>
>>31336668
Well, it depends on the game you play. One side seems more legitimate than the other. You might as well set them both up as being rival groups trying to get more influence in their Dome.
>>
>>31336668
Magma and Aqua are both groups of humans who have willingly turned themselves into monsters (the real kind not the ranger kind) in order to worship Groundon and Kyogre.
>>
>>31336668
Have fun with Devon Corp, and the various characters, like Steven and the Frontier Brains. Also, Hoenn had a space program at one point, if you want to include that somehow
>>
>>31336668
Okay. Actual spoiler ahead.

Team Magma and Team Aqua have conflicting interests where it concerns what typing of rangers to focus on and what legendary deserves more attention.

Team aqua believes that Kyogre is a priority as it could swallow up Hoenn with its sea, flooding out their dome and destroying their ability to subsist off of the land and threaten dome security.

Team Magma believes that Groudon is the greater threat. It has potential to make the sun come down upon the dome and bake everyone inside alive. That's not to mention the fact that it could end up detonating the volcano and destroying not only the dome, but the rest of the island.

This contention causes them to split their resources and divide the dome into two competing factions with citizen support.

Team Aqua's the ones that still ship to Kanto. Magma's pushing for an embargo. Politics and other shit.

Devon Corp is just another name for Silp Co.
>>

You take a deep breath, expanding your awareness throughout the mountain. You let every ripple, every little wave flow through you as you feel the disastrous echoes reach down. You sense the foul intentions of the rolling stones as they come down, adjusting course specifically to hit you.
It would probably work- if you hadn't expected read the changes in course.

You hold Hana's hand and guide her up the mountain, leaping when necessary, yet otherwise walking and slipping past the the stones after their final adjustments, leaving them both baffled and rolling the rest of the way down without anything hit.

The state wears you down. Normally it'd be used against a dangerous quarry and react with heightened movements to set up for a counter. Yet you're using this far longer and thus need to proceeed far more slowly to maintain it.

You can feel Hana's hear skip beats as the air pressure from the boulders blows past the two of you with every close, yet predicted call.

By the end of the boulders you are reasonably exhausted, crumbling down to your hands and knees as you catch a breath.

You hear the distant cry of a Rathas and the return of another.
“What was that?” Hana looks out into the sky scared.

“Rathas, I think. Fire and poison. They shouldn't bother us, too small for food.” You reason and console her at once, getting back up to standing and letting the breeze near the summit flow through your plumage.

“Are you sure?” She doesn't seem convinced, must've seen your own anxiety.

“Positive.” You affirm, opening your eyes.
The mountain's peak and summit. Blue Burst grows on up high. Now it's time to look for the proper shade for the plant to grow.

Ignoring the distant shrieks of the airmds, the two of you follow a roughly tread mountain path, the vegatation having grown rather thin up here, you find places where the dirt's loose, causing you to double-check your footing when you get to the point that you're hugging against the edge of a cliff, working your way acrosss the mountain as the sky goes into its twilight phases, giving the world a dark blush.

Looking out down from the mountain you can see the rest of the island and the great trees below with the village obscured by the canopy. It's quite a sight as the two of you witness the setting sun from so near the peak.

“Pretty...” Hanah remarks, staring out at the bleshed orange sun meeting with the blues and violets of the sky. “It's like the sun is a Kahkori too. A man with bright colors trying to woo the moon.” She looks up as the waxing silver moon lies in view.
“Think she loves him?”

“Stories say that they're always chasing each other. Well- One story says that the Sun baits the moon into chasing him. Another says that the Sun pursues the moon and at times she vanishes.”

“You know many stories like that Kurojo?”

“Some. I am no storyteller, but I have ears to listen. Uncle Mukon would rant on about how he'd never found his moon.”

“What of the other moons and suns?” Hana points to the stars. Stories tell that they are other suns that have caught their moon and watch like a flock the chase of the Sun and Moon.

“Didn't like to talk about the ones watching... We should keep moving, the Strangers still wait for us.”
You head on, taking another look at the moon. Few females are ever born white, and the strangers' hair is like fire despite their waves being female. How curious.

Is the white one like the moon? Does she have a Sun somewhere?

wait, lemme explain myself properly:

If it's a rathian, most likely it has a mate and is protecting eggs. As far as I know, females without a mate generally travel more, and don't make nests.

If it was a rathalos, then the lack of presence of a rathian probably means that it's a bachelor, and we therefore don't need to worry about a second monster.

I could be severely mistaken on the first part, though.
>>
>>31337657
What made you think that the Kahkori gave Kurojo all the credit? The crone seems pretty aware that Cerulean was involved in the fight.

And many of the Kahkori were there to witness the Nar-kage's death, at least.
>>
>>31337657

The two of you eventually find yourselves hugging the cliff face of a ratha's nest.
How do you know? You can hear it snoring. Away with its heavy, enormous breath rumbling deep.

They don't eat Kahkori right? Right? Oh please let Mukon be right.

You crawl up along the cliff's face after telling Hana what you plan to do.
You clear the stone and find yourself dealing with mulched wood- chewed up and regurgitated to create a large nesting ground.

Stepping carefully and dropping to an almost awkward all four movement, you manage to avoid snapping any loose twigs, keeping the Ratha sleeping soundly with her tail wrapped around her clutch of eggs.
You stare for a moment, taking in everything of the beast.

The Ratha is armored from head to toe in thick resistant scales, a long tail with a club and several barbs at the end of her tail denoting her inherently poisonous nature aside from the fiery one.
Dark green scales and a lightly furred back, a wedge-shaped head with chin-spikes to compliment the ones upon the wings, and of course deadly talons the size of your forearm to top off its deadly arsenal.

If Nar-Kage is a test of bravery, a Ratha is a test of prestige. Strong may fall to the Nar-Kage but only the strong can kill a Ratha. You're not sure if you're there yet.

It sleeps soundly, its loud snores and breath sending ripples through the spectrum of the wave as you take a look around for the little blue flower.

For a bit you can't seem to find it, yet then you notice something blue glinting out from near the Ratha's talons and tail. A little blue flower that seems to be just bursting out with color. It's close to the eggs...

You wonder if you should risk grabbing one of those too.

Raising a Ratha from its youth... You could even fly it to the other islands once it came of age.

The only problem is the parents... They'd hound you until they couldn't track you anymore.

You carefully move closer to the great monster and the blue flower growing out from amongst the pulped wood, your eyes entirely locked on the thing's face, and your movement only occurring between its breaths as you near.

You get closer and closer to the point that you just just about reach out and touch one of the venomous spines.

At that point your grab the little blue flower by its stem and pull the entire thing up, bringing it up by its roots.

Quietly, you praise yourself in your head for the victory, smirking like an idiot as you crawl away the same way before dipping over the edge and sliding yourself down a bit.

You hand over the flower to Hana and she looks it over, examining the color and the root, confirming that it is indeed the one that you're looking for.

Double success!
It's the right one!

The two of you begin to creep away, getting around the cliff-face just as the log and slow wingbeats of another Rathas come on by, ceasing once they're over the next. Lucky thing you're already out of there, else you'd be facing two of these things.

Dark falls as the two you you take the mountain trail back around into the zone just before the summit.

It's gotten really dark at this point with nothing but the moon and stars to offer you light. The lack of life up here makes it hard to navigate as opposed to the jungle itself... Descent may need to wait until dawn... Not to mention that you're pretty tired.

Going through the jungle at night means bad times for everyone.

Seems like the best option for resting. The caves are obviously going to be filled with critters. That's, like. The first thing you need to know about caves in Pokemon. The other thing is that they're pretty dark inside.

“The return path will be more dangerous at night. We'll camp out here and return at the break of dawn.”
You reason as you lead Hana at least partway around the mountain, minding and feeling for where you've already been under the light of the pallid moon.

“We will be alright out here?” Hana worries, her waves anxious and fearful. “This is my first time sleeping outside of the village.”

“We will be fine so long as we keep watch. If it's not a rathas or an airmd I'll strike it down. You have nothing to fear Hana.” You tell the young lady as the two of you find a spot that's just wide enough to offer the ability to maneuver and still a bit too high to be troubled by the boulders after they've hiked their way back up the mountain-side.

The the moon and stars as your sky you drift off into a light sleep with Hana at your back, your thoughts leaning toward how the strangers must be feeling right now...
Where are they from anyway?

And what are those strange tools they have... What could they mean?

You doze off for a moment, glimpses of your failure permeating your dreams. The White One coughing up blood and Kajani following suit before the whole village suffers from the Red Tide.
You thrash about in your sleep...

It'd be all your fault for bringing them there. All your fault if everyone was hurt... You hear a growling at the edge of your hearing, forcing your eyes open in the dead of night as a set of jaws launch themselves at you, only to be met with a swift uppercut and palm strike to force the monster away as you jump to your feet, tapping Hana hard to awaken her, and finding her already awake and nothing away another of the things.

You both stand, assuming a combat stance, yours far more practiced than hers, yet without her necessarily falling short of you.
>>
You feel the enemy all around you, their reptilian eyes glinting in the darkness with slight hisses here and there as they communicate with each other. The failed attack has made them wary and your back-to back setup makes them circle, ignoring the allies that've been clobbered into submission.

You've seen these before, heard of them before: Jaggals.
They never attack from the front, never go for a fair fight, and never attack something with fewer numbers. They don't shoot or have an special abilities other than the fact that they like their biting more than anything and they're tenacious enough to wear down almost anything.
It's said that the only way to get one to let go after it's bitten is to cut its head off or break the jaw.

These feathered little raptors must've been waiting for the two of you to try to sleep and attacked when it knew the two of you were out.
There are as many as twelve by your count. If you reduce their numbers they should get scared off.

You feel that they're more drawn to Hana, whether it is the weakness they sense in her or the strength that they sense in you, they regard her more shrewdly.

Standing your ground, you watch and wait for the things to commit to a strike, unwilling to distract yourself by throwing the first blow. They'd just take advantage of your opening to attack.
No... You'll wait.

Keeping your eye keen upon them, they circle around, waiting watching.
The odd one among them comes forward just a bit to snap its jaws and goad you into lashing out against them. But you won't make that mistake, not on their terms.

You begin to mock them, replicating the sounds that they make and they seem to grow agitated by it, their feathers visibly puffing up along with their frills to try making themselves look tougher.
You emulate the same with your crest, bringing your red feathers up and repeating the crude sounds that they make, eventually getting one to lunge out to receive a sudden smash to its face, sending it tumbling down the side of the mountain.

This causes all distortion to break loose as Hana lashes out at one that's goaded her, forcing you to turn around and deliver a quick vacuum wave to strike the thing before it gets a chance to bite her. Right after, you turn around spinning out a kick to send another tumbling and alternating right back to nail another one going after Hana as she's beating one bloody.

You send out a vacuum wave to the front, crashing in powerfully with another soon-to-be-limp body, and strike another coming for your behind square in the chest, causing its frail bones to crumble under your might.

The things lose their nerve after losing half their number and quickly slink away into one of the caverns, only to quickly run back out again with little white things trying to get all on them.

You'd laugh if they hadn't just been trying to eat you for dinner.
Actually, that just makes it funnier.
>>
You clasp your hand around Hana's and pull her off of a bloody corpse,”First blood?”

“Not the first.”

“Could've done better. Good job though.”

She only nods and the two of you resume a back-to back slumber.

Morning comes and it's time to go back. Light is a blessing if ever you knew one.

It's been a good thread. Will we still be with Kurojo next time or are we segueing back to Ceru?

Also, is this image in any way reminiscent of the Distortion World?
>>
>>31339004
Are we going to have to continue birdventures on Thursday or what?
>>
>>31339004
Cool ending. I guess next thread will probably begin with Ceru waking up to a mouth full of herbs or something.

The mental image of Kurojo taunting the critters is pretty funny too.

Prof, how old is Kurojo anyway? At the youngest, I thought maybe around Bruise or Lilac's age, and at the oldest, Kitty's.

He's at least large enough to carry Ceru on his back, anyway, so I'm assuming he has close to an adult's body.

>>
>>31339396
>I hope we can get it, just like Psybeam, if nothing more then a contingency. Look how well that worked out with Psybeam right?
Only because Psybeam adds type coverage.

We already have Icy Wind, Icicle Gun, Frost Breath, Ice Ball (kinda), and Ice Shards.

What's Ice Fang going to add, really?
>>
>>31339396
>We need a bathing suit scene when Marine and Ceru are older. Should be amusing.
Ideas for writers!

Marine has a shell top, so she goes around wearing nothing there. And you can ever so slightly see her breasts bulge out from the openings below and above the shell.

>>31339404
>Said it before- Ceru would use Ice fang with her hands.

>It would get the +3 from the Fuschia h2h training

Nothing? Really?

>>
>>31339404
So, Prof, what are the chances of us getting any items crafted from the Nar-kage's body?

>>31339420
Well, Hana would probably have been in danger of dying, but Kurojo's got plot immunity since this was just an optional interlude; his success at bringing back the flower was already predetermined, it was just how long it'd take and how he'd go about it that mattered.
>>
>>31339404
>Would've been Jojo's responsibility.
that would be bad. We obviously want rathalos mounts to be replicatable, so we steal/catch a breeding pair and document how to train them. Can't do that if someone else does the raising.

>Said it before- Ceru would use Ice fang with her hands.
forgot about that. Now I remember why Ceru is currently a killshot build at all ranges.

I agree that you should just rename it to 'Ice Claw' or 'Ice Fang-Claw variant'
>>

>>
>>31339429
Frost Breath is already a melee range Ice move that has armor penetration to freeze the target's organs and it has enhanced crit chance. I'd much rather use that as our Ice move if we have to get into melee range.
>>
>>31339449
>I'm changing Crytten's Frostbite ability to "decreasing speed" with contact moves.

Guys, we can still get it by proxy. Just combine Crossroad Killing with our Ice Shard ability. Basically the same thing.
>>
>>31339522
It'd probably also use Ing instead of Ten because it's an attack combo. Which is good, since our Ing is better.
>>
>>31339466
>>enhanced crit chance
>enhanced crit damage*
No, it always crits. The enhanced damage is from Sniper.
>>
>Frost Breath is 60BP but always crits, making it the equivalent of a 135BP move than never crits but always ignores defense
>Blizzard is 110BP
Just sayin.
>>
>>31339522
The focus of that is damage, but I think the main point of Ice Fang that Frost Breath doesn't have is a chance to flinch without losing the freeze
>>
>>31339495
In case you're not gone yet, will evolving Dewgong result in the horn giving a +modifier to Ice?
>>
>>31339571
Yeah, that's what I'm saying; we'll create ice shards directly over how claws to cause freezing and flinching.
>>
>>31339565
Blizzard targets an area and would put our Snow Veil's camouflage ability to use in more areas.
>>
>>31339607
Point.

But FB is still going to be more raw damage vs single targets and on top of that Blizzard is quite a ways off while we have FB right now.

Still want to get Blizzard, just saying words.
>>
>>31339586
>The user bites with cold-infused fangs.
It's up to Ygg how icicles compare to cold-infused amber claws, but the way I see it:

Icicles shatter more easily, and so can't impact enough force to flinch.
OR
Icicles don't transfer heat as fast, so while overall temperature decrease is the same, there is less chance of freezing
>>
>>31339629
In that case, isn't it just the point of removing the ice shards and just conducting the coldness through the claws directly? There's no problem at all in that case.

Perhaps just change the combination to forming the ice shards AFTER the claws have been embedded in the target. Cause even more damage that way.
>>
>>31339645
>Jam claws into target
>Ice Shards
Enjoy your slush blood
>>
>>31339658
I wouldn't be surprised if Bligers made that as a treat for their Crytten children.
>>
>>31339645
So a normal claw attack followed by Ice Shards?

Sounds interesting, as it veers a little bit away from standard pokemon moves.

But that might mean that accuracy is based solely on H2H, with a bonus from Ice Shards, to make up for not needing points.

>>31339671
zoo keepers give tigers bloodcicles as treats
>>
>>31339686
Unless you mean Crossroad Killing, where I would say that that move does NOT attempt to embed the claws in the body, and so does not apply.
>>
>>31339700
Don't have to embed them in the body to get them in the body long enough to use Ice Shard.
>>
>>31339686
>zoo keepers give tigers bloodcicles as treats
Ahaha, oh wow. Really? If we ever get stuck in the evil state after killing something, we have to definitely do that.

Anyway, we're not trained for claw attacks, so it wouldn't be that effective. The idea was to combine it with Crossroad Killing, since that move automatically targets an opponent's vitals.

>>31339700
We could modify the move, then. Instead of quickly moving past the opponent, we embed our claws into them instead. Sink them in real deep while we freeze the monster from the inside. Maybe attack them from their backs or right on top of them so that they can't retaliate.

I'm sure it'd work out fine. This is the kind of flexibility in thinking that helped us think up of Icicle Guns and of infusing the Icicle Guns with Psybeam radiation to create an area that confuses people who enter it (which Prof actually OK'ed before so we know it's possible).
>>
>>31339711
>>31339727
So a flaming sword, only with cold? Done right, it would stop blood loss. Done the OTHER right, and we make bloodcicles that pierce them from the inside.

I like it.
>>
>>31339727
>Anyway, we're not trained for claw attacks, so it wouldn't be that effective.
We sorta are. We're trained in Fuschia-style hand to hand combat, meaning that we get the same bonuses for mauling someone with our claws that we would for shooting them with an Icicle. Well, almost. We would if our Ten stat was higher, but that's not a matter of training.
>>
>>31339744
>Done right, it would stop blood loss.
Most things don't have Ice Body. It would be really painful and then once it starts to melt, it could result in ice embolism causing death.
>>
>>31339750
Oh, does our Fuchsia CQC gives us a general bonus to all melee attacks, I think. But that's all we'd get. If we do it with a move, then we'd get the CQC training bonus on top of that move's rank.
>>
>>31339761
True. Still, the cold would work on the cut-off limb, while the stump would stop blood-loss long enough to get a bandage on.

Now if there was only a way to UNfreeze it safely...
>>
>>31339761
So basically, it'd be an assassination move. Our Coup de Grâce. That's pretty cool, actually, although I doubt it's something we'll want to use when capturing a monster for implants.
>>
>>31339773
Crossroad killing goes for the vitals. It wouldn't be cutting off limbs unless it misses.
>>
>>31339773
We could definitely use our ice abilities on other rangers, but we wouldn't need to use Ice Shard or Crossroad Killing or whatever compound move that would result from combining them.
>>
>>31339782
Ceru really isn't a capture ranger. If she's on a capture mission, it will likely be in a command position with people like Sanna operating under her. If Ceru does anything, it will be spamming Icy Wind a bit to slow the target down before it gets Sleep Powder'd/Stun Spore'd.
>>
>>31339788
So there's absolutely no reason whatsoever to use this combo for healing. right.
>>
>>31339804
If you want a healing move, level up Psybeam until it becomes Heal Pulse. Ceru's Ice is worthless for healing. All it can do is stop her own wounds from getting worse.
>>
>>31339797
Frost Breath is an effective way to only destroy some organs while preserving the rest.

If it's a mission where capturing the entire monster is not vital, she can still act directly.
>>
>>31339797
Her ice has been noted as being useful for capture operations. In fact, the only ranger above her in that skill department is Sanna.

I'm not saying we specialize in capture like her, but it's not like we'll always have her around for a capture operation (especially if the mission may not have started out with the objective of capturing a target).
>>
>>31339814
>In fact, the only ranger above her in that skill department is Sanna.
I'm speaking in terms of the Rocket cadets, of course.

Anyway, you guys wanna brainstorm up some more moves? We'll be at the village for a while and we'll probably return to Ceru by next session. Gotta spend that exp on something.
>>
>>31339824
>Gotta spend that exp on something.
Oops, forgot that you don't need to spend exp on creating combo moves.
>>
>>31339824
Still on page 9, so sure.

We need tail moves. Note that the tail will get progressively tougher as the evolutions make their rounds.
>>
>>31339824
Well, the xp would be best spent on things we can only learn here.

So dumping it all into Aura techniques seems like the best option.
>>
>>31339836
That's only for learning moves. After that, I think we can raise them up with training even outside of the gym. Although I think for more specific things, like Fuchsia's CQC training, the gym is required.

Although in that case, we'll want to spend a number of our exp to get the moves we can learn from the Kahkori. They know how to write, though. So they should have writing material. Maybe we could teach them our own alphabet and language so that they can write down a manual of their techniques for us (that is, once they trust us enough).
>>
>>31339833
>We need tail moves. Note that the tail will get progressively tougher as the evolutions make their rounds.
We don't have any tail moves available to us right now. Maybe once our Crytten implant evolves, we'll get Iron Tail? What other tail moves do you think would fit for us?
>>
>>31339901
I kind of meant thinking up of original moves to use the tail with.
>>
>>31339901
The best "tail move" we could possible probably not be able to get would be Tail Glow.
>>
>>31339921
Huh. I'm not even sure if we're allowed to create a move instead of just combining techniques.

Although, since we can already freeze our tail to attack, we should theoretically be able to perform tail moves already.

Aside from getting more damaging once our tail evolves, I think it'd be an excellent defense for our back when we need to run away. Maybe lash our tail around to deflect projectiles and deter people from approaching?
>>
Nar-Kago moves:
-use tail spikes as ammo for a projectile steel/poison attack

-convert armblades into wolverine claws for steel type melee

Webbed hands:
We got good surface area for an Ice Slap

still thinking

>Maybe lash our tail around to deflect projectiles and deter people from approaching?
sounds good. we should suggest that

If we had gotten the infinite water thing, think it would have been possible to do that "skating on ice that you create in front of you" thing that Frozone does?
>>
When Ceru's tail gets giant, she could bring it up between her legs and use it as a third limb to hug people from below and press them into her in addition to using her arms.
>>
>>31339988
It would be a big drain on stamina, though.
>>
>>31339996
Why would it need to go below her legs? Why couldn't she curl it up from the side? Isn't that how it's traditionally done?
>>
>>31339997
If we're already doing a constant upkeep on high-level Icy Wind anyway, does it really matter? It's added mobility for free taking advantage of the constant cold we'd be making already for debuffing.
>>
Horn Tackle+Water Gun for increased speed

Aquabatics+Ice Shards make footholds underwater
>>
>>31340003
You don't wear harnesses just around your waist, you gotta have some under components for the most secure fit.

Same thing with incorporating tails into hugs.
>>
>>31340018
I don't think Icy Wind freezes water THAT fast, even at high levels. Certainly not running/skating speed anyway. You need the water to be thick enough to support Ceru's weight
>>
>>31340023
>Aquabatics+Ice Shards make footholds underwater
What do you think Aquabatics is? It's literally just dancing around in the water. Prof hasn't said exactly what it is, but he said something about it being "kinda like Swagger"
>>
>>31340046
It'd result in hypnotic dancing, I think. Like our version of snake charming for underwater creatures.
>>
>>31340046
Fine, Aquatic Combat+Aquabatics+Ice Shards

Aquatic Combat for properly using the footholds

Aquabatics because interchanging normal swimming with bursts of speed from the footholds can be confusing.
>>
>>31340072
Aquatic Combat isn't a move. It's a passive bonus.
>>
>>31340082
yes. what's the problem?

making random pieces of ice in the water isn't helpful unless you know how to take advantage of the new terrain
>>
>>31340097
Just call it what it is: Using Ice Shards in the water. There's no point in calling it a "combo move" when half of it isn't even a move.
>>
>>31340118
It's not so much a move as something inventive we can do with the powers that we have.
>>
Hey, here's a question: Pokemon can learn interesting moves via breeding. Does this apply to Rangers? And more importantly, what implants does Ceru's mother have?
>>
>>31340023
I'm looking forward to when we get further into the game. Lock On+ Sheer Cold. It'll take two turns to set up and will require 40% stamina, but's an instant takedown. I think my favourite thing about that is that it actually seems balanced, so we've got good odds of it making it into the game.
>>
>>31340191
Race and M-virus count are inherited from the mother.

This was the exact answer Prof gave in the last thread, if you want to check it out.
>Pokemon inherit moves from their dads.

Take it as you will.
>>
>>31340191
Probably a Lapras and Dewgong.
>>
>>31340209
>Our dad is unnamed so that Proff can throw some randomass (but awesome) moves at us and write it off as being from dad.
>>
>>31340209
Ah yeah. Forgot about that. Too used to breeding with dittos.

....

THAT'S WHY GIOVANNI IS A MEMETIC SEX GOD!
>>
>>31340209
>Race ... [is] inherited from the mother.
So the Nar-kage fucking wouldn't even make kittens, it'd make human babies with mild cat features?
>>
>>31340224
>>31340228
OUR FATHER IS GIOVANNI!!!!!

Lorelei was a Rocket cadet when she was young.Giovanni impregnated her.
>>
>>31340236
>Cerulean learned Psystrike
>>
>>31340232
Yeah.

OH MAN SOMEONE TELL SMUT ANON QUICKLY. I need verisimilitude in my fictional smut, after all!

>So the Nar-kage fucking wouldn't even make kittens, it'd make human babies with mild cat features?
I'd say there are a few possible answers for why we don't know who our dad is. Teen pregnancy with a commanding officer is actually like the third most tame option.

Zapdos is our father
>>
>>31340258
Nah. If it was a pokemon, we'd still have some mild features. Remember that Ni'rena had a human mom
>>
Waaaiiiiit a second. Didn't we use Nasty Plot around Kurojo? Shouldn't he have felt some kind of change with that?
Nah. I'ma guess he was focusing too hard on not getting gutted by the nar-kage.
>>
>>31340401
Let's just say that. But be sure to raise it up to Prof next time, since he might have missed that.
