Clefable begins to do something like looks like a weird summoning ritual. It's like the lighting around it changes and it's healing from it.

Destiny moves quickly in the pond. She fires a hot jet water directly at Clefable. Steam rises from where it was hit, and you can see a burn.

Both Pokemon seem to move at roughly the same speed. If it weren't for your recent training, the more experienced Clefable would probably be faster.

You feel like that should have finished it off. The Sunlight must be weakening it. It looks to be in about the same condition as before.

Eddie growls. He looks you in the eyes, trying to see what your next move is. You try to read him too.

It's a sticky situation. If he doesn't use Moonlight again, Destiny will probably knock him out. If it weren't for the burn, he'd probably get a net gain from using it.

Eddie looks completely engrossed in the battle. You realize that you are too. You know you can probably wear him down by keeping up with Scald, but you also know that despite her speed right now after last night's training session, an extended struggle like that will wear her down.

Well, you always have been the gambling type. "Signal Beam!"

"Moonlight" Eddie yells at almost the same time. You can see from his face that he thinks you just made a critical mistake.

The greenish yellow beam nails Clefable right in the face. It's a critical hit! Clefable reels back and spins in confusion. It looks completely lost and very hurt. If it were a different typing, you're sure it would be out.

Eddie stomps his feet. You hear cheering from your friends. You almost forget they were there. You're so engaged in winning this battle.

Clefable is confused, burned, and about to faint. Reluctantly, Eddie retrieves it. "Good job. This fight isn't worth pushing yourself." It's a stark contrast to your last match. You can tell he wants this win badly, but he's putting his Pokemon first.

As you would have guess, he throws out Leafeon. "We've been training really hard. Leafeon can take two of your Pokemon no problem!"

The sunlight is strong. His Leafeon looks fresh and confident.

Leafeon's confident look fades as Stealth Rock takes it's toll. Leafeon tries to dodge, but it's impossible as the hidden rocks come from all over and swarm it.

You notice how fast it moved though. It was faster than it should be.

That's it! Chlorophyll! Leafeon is extremely fast in the strong sunlight. That's why he wanted to keep it up!

You can be fast too. "Signal Beam!"

"Solarbeam!"

It also strikes you as odd about how fast Destiny is moving now that she's in the water. She was just speeding up when she got in, but now she's moving at incredible speed.

She was also moving fast in the rain last night too

No way! It hits you. She must have Swift Swim! As long as it's raining or she's in the water, she'll be extra fast too!

Even with that factor evening things out, Leafeon wins the speed race. It's just a more experienced Pokemon.

The Solarbeam connects, but it doesn't get the full strength off. Destiny just manages to start Signal Beam in time to deflect some of it. She still takes a huge blow, but she endures it enough strike back and hit Leafeon with the leftover power of her attack

If you hadn't spent last night perfecting the hell out of Signal Beam, she'd be toast. You're glad it paid off. You also get the feeling that Leafeon feels more comfortable with physical attacks too.

"Solarbeam again!" Eddie looks thrilled to be able to unleash this powerful move again so quickly.

Destiny fires off her Smokescreen quickly. Instead of a large cloud, it's a small concentrated one directly at Leafeon. The Solarbeam clips Destiny, but only for a second. It's not enough to knock her out, but it hurts, a lot.

Still, now Leafeon's accuracy is off. It shakes it's head to try to clear it's eyes.

Destiny looks completely ragged.

Devon bares his teeth. He's not happy about that. Not one bit. You get the feeling that if he weren't so loyal, he'd already be charging Leafeon without a thought.

"Hmph. Must be nice to be able to do that whenever you want." Eddie says bitterly. "No rocks hitting your Pokemon."

Leafeon is still a tough Pokemon, even with your type advantage. You can't get too cocky
