Important events:
+Imperial world of Erbia in Subsector Dominus has activated their distress beacon.
+Imperial Hauler K42-C "Durable" reported an unusual asteroid swarm approaching Wladistan.
+After your victory over Iron Monks, there is an influx of immigration to Varda. If you choose to accept it, you can take in any amount of eager pilgrims and adventurers between 100k and 2 million. Most of them would be coming from Mormark and Tachion Primaris. Kvei Lohar is eager to increase the colony, but remember that accepting all of them might put extra strain on the colony.

Kvei Lohar sends you an astropathic message:
>Milord, I feel that we should take in as many immigrants as possible, it would allow us to have enough manpower to build another great city and would open up possibility to upgrade our Gas mining operations as well. However construction of this new city would probably cost something close to 20 million thrones and that's just to accommodate the immigrants. I estimate that this sudden influx of people could cost us up to 30-40 million thrones if we'll allow everyone to come. (real cost would be determined by dice roll of 20+2d10)

Imperial law on this is ill defined. Usually you can raise whatever forces you feel are neccessary to defend your realm. In case of Ulramarines it means autonomous equivalent of Imperial Guard with their own navy and very strong PDF that can operate off-planet.
>>31224086
Unfortunately it seems that Erbia at the moment is clouded by warp and/or there are no active astropaths in that area, that's probably the reason they used mechanical beacon to send the signal. Also, I'll do you a favour and ignore this 92 roll, but next time you need to say what you roll for.

Self-sustaining planet will automatically raise low quality regiments on it's own. On normal imperial planets, 1% of population at all times will be a standing army. So within next few years you can expect Varda to have around 27k troops or 5 regiments. If you'll want to train something on top of that, I'll look into preparing rules for that.

"Morbid" after a few weeks finally locates the asteroid swarm. It appears that it will reach Wladistan in early 344.M41 if it's speed won't change. Sixth Captain Macedon sends you a personal message:
>Milord, it seems we have a textbook low intensity Ork migration on our hands. We estimate that Asteroid swarm holds no more than 20 to 30 thousand orks, but as Wladistan is a low-tech world, they could do some real damage to local human population and could infest it for good. It's not a burning priority, but if we would allow Ork infestation to take place so close to Varda, it could hurt our strategic interests. From my current position I suggest either to gather up our whole fleet and destroy the swarm with raw firepower(they have little defences) or I could try to board the main Rok and mine it from inside. This would not only kill Warboss, but without it's gravitational field, other asteroids would scatter and swarm would be no more. If we are lucky and Orks are dormant, it could even be achieved without any losses on our side. On the other hand mobilising the whole fleet would be a foolproof way to success, but it would take us at least a year to do it and it would disrupt our current operations. What should be my course of actions?
>>31224529
Captain Kram of Imperial Navy:

>Folkvangr squadron would be happy to do that as long as you leave something to guard Folkvangr while we are away. And remember - we are doing you this favour only because of how highly Lord Admiral Tyrel Hagen speaks of you.
End result is the same still need to send a ship. Not the same actually, Folkvangr won't do anything but bring info. Let them stay in Folkvangr.

Let's just sent Harmantos and 2nd Co. along with Kentauros to Erbia. Forget about Kram. If Harmantos thinks he can deal with the threat with minimal losses he can deal with it, otherwise he will report back with the situation there.

+Skirmish Report+
+Operation "Dormant"+
+By: Macedon, Captain of the 6th Company+
+To: Chapter Master+
Chapter Cruiser "Morbid" has intercepted Ork-infested asteroid swarm Theta-Phi-2230 on it's way to Wladistan on 099.342.M41. We carefully approached the swarm and sent squads Primus, Secundus and Quartus via landing craft to infiltrate the swarm, while squad Tertio was prepared in reserve. They landed on the main Rok and drilled their way inside. Fortunately, when squad Quartus entered the caves, Orks were still dormant, so they proceeded to lay explosives. However soon squad Secundus ran into trouble as they stumbled upon makeshift control bridge for the rock, where they were confronted by a Weirdboy and his companions. Brother Sardis and Kovir were killed in the ensuing fight, but the Weirdboy was killed and none of the orks survived to raise the alarm. I myself lead squad Primus to the deepest caverns of the Rok, carefully trying not to wake thousands of Orks that were lying all around us. In the very depths of the hulk we found a huge, fat, inert piece of xeno meat that we identified as the Warlord. Unfortunately we didn't take any prisoners to interrogate what his name was(I admit my fault in this, we should have done this to identify his Klan of origin). I decided not to risk waking him up and butchered him with my powersword. Afterwards Leutenant Hector mined his corpse from inside just to be sure. By the time we started to withdraw, enemy started waking up, however they were still slow and confused from space travel coma, we slaughtered close to nine hundred of them while retreating without a single casualty. A few brothers were wounded, but nothing serious. According to your instructions, we decided that sun is the only way to kill the orks for sure, so we waited for a week until swarm was close to a star and only then activated the explosives. (cont.)

When the main Rok was destroyed, the rest of the swarm without it's gravitational pull tumbled into the stars gravity well and within next 8 years all of the asteroids will melt on its surface. It is a shame that inhabitants of that little primitive planet will never know that Sardis and Kovir died for them, but we have done our duty and Wladistan is safe. I propose we instead wait until we're finished on sygma 477, then send Gladius Squadron Alpha to Erbia to scout out what's occurring.
>>
>>31227306
Sure sounds good. Two escorts is better than one after all.
>>
>>31227331
There's no point in attaching 2nd company to escorts, no thunderhawks or anything to board with. Just scout with the frigates, if its something interesting we can send a carrier vessel, if its minor pirates or whatever the frigates can deal with them.

Can we make a request to the imperial navy to requisition the schematics of thier jammers?
They seem pretty effective

As Mercurion inspects the Thunderhawk, he realises a few things. First - it clearly wasn't flying from somewhere on the planet, it was descending, probably from the orbit, it was clearly indicated by the still open orbital descent burners. Furthermore - not all damage on the Thunderhawk was left by the crash, it was clearly damaged by energy weapons that were firing from at least two different sides. From the way spacecraft was covered by a very thin, but already visible amount of dust that managed to form even in this weak atmosphere indicates that it spent here at least a few decades. Another curious thing about it was that Thunderhawk didn't bear any insignia nor colour scheme - it was plain steel, an unusual thing for a consecrated Space Marine vessel. As Mercurion inspected the forms of Astartes that were lying around the crash site, he realised that their armour was also ceramite grey, without any signs to what Chapter they might belong to. There are seven bodies, there might be a chance to recover up to d7 Power Armour suits. Thunderhawk itself is beyond repair, but as your men enter it, they discover sets of strange armoured containers that are chained to the floor. Even crash landing didn't dislodge them. There are three containers, each one about square meter in size and one of them is open and empty. It seems to have been opened without force. Others are locked and coded by some sort of ancient mechanisms that seem to have safety devices installed within. Sergeant Airon notices that there are tracks, partly covered by decades of slowly drifting moondust, that are leading away from the crash site. It seems as if an Astartes-sized human was crawling after the fall away from the crash site. As you climb on top of the nearby hill, you see, that tracks are leading away into the distance. Into sector D44.

Done with emails, back to the game. What do you want to do?
+Follow up on crashed thunderhawk
+Erbia distress beacon
+Other unfinished business
>>
>>31228074
Considering sending a team of Revenants to follow the tracks.

I say send the gladius squadron to Erbia and investigate the beacon.
>>
>>31228074

File plans to enact a recovery mission of the thunderhawk, intact, if possible, with the Navy.

We should be able to deploy or borrow a mass lifter barge from the Navy that can bring up the thunderhawk as-is.

I'm tempted to suggest we send a pair of revies to follow the tracks of the crawling passenger/occupant, stepping only in the tracks left by the earlier passage and then stepping in their own tracks on their way out.

Also, what marks of power armor have we recovered and can we recover gene seed from the astartes? One of them may have triggered the stasis-like effects or simply been preserved due to the cold enough for identification!

Well, you'll need to establish a base for at least a few days to recover the Thunderhawk. Also, what you can do mostly is recover the useful parts, restoring it is not worth the effort. Are you ok with that? If yes, roll d100. Under 30 will recover it's machine spirit and navigation logs. Then roll d20, that will indicate how much can you decrease the price of next Thunderhawk you build.
>>31228141
If you'll want to send Revenants, please tell me how many and who is their leader. Then roll d100.

Roll d100 to send them to Erbia.

Also, you are being summoned to Tachion Primaris to your appeal procedure regarding "Strongback" crew.

Dispatch Geron and 2 other revenants to follow the tracks, as explained here >>31228247

Report what they see and report back, they have as long as it takes us to haul up the Thunderhawk. Once its hauled up and the Revenant's return, we head for Tachion Primaris.

Rolling 2d100, first for revenants, 2nd for ships to Erbia.

We should switch to Raven Guard tactics.

Apparently, containers are shielded, results are unclear.
>>31228290
Then it will take even longer and you'll need a proper hauler or transporter suited for this task. This wouldn't be possible to do without permission from the Imperial Navy.

Will continue tomorrow. Session finished.
