It is the year 22XX and Humanity has reached the stars. Alas, even though they have attained the lofty goal of interstellar travel, mankind has yet to conquer it’s baser instincts.

Humanity is ruled by ultra-Corporations. Some own continents. Some own multiple worlds. But no matter who you are, everyone is a citizen-employee somewhere. The qualms that beset corporations of the past, copyright infringement, tech theft, still exist. If anything, they are amplified by the scale of the players.

Without government to turn to for legal recourse and separated by millions and billions of miles, corporations have turned to less savory solutions to resolve disputes. You are one of those solutions.

You are an elite mercenary, also known as a High Impact Public Representative, of the StrikeOut Company, a group of mercenaries who accept contracts and missions from the highest bidder. You are launched out of a spaceship in a drop pod filled with bright orange and highly toxic gel. You crash land into the target’s facilities, make a mess, do your job, and then get the hell out.

You are a Fall Guy. You are a Deniable Asset.

'Evening Fall.
>>
You roll onto your back and sit up in bed, yawning. Rubbing the sleep from your eyes, you mumble sleepily. Your dreams last night were hot and somewhat confused. They also might’ve violated a few HR statutes on fraternization too, but it’s not like those are ever enforced. Getting slowly to your feet, you rub the soreness from your thighs. You stumble off to the shower, reflecting on the day previous. Hard to believe how much you managed to accomplish in such a short time yesterday. You allow yourself a few minutes to clean up and shampoo before you begin to drop the water temperature in logarithmic increments.

Eventually the blast of cold water jerks you out of your morning stupor and you yelp in alarm. Even if it’s entirely intentional, it still catches you off guard. Alert, if slightly frazzled, you are in your usual mindset and are ready to face the day. Stepping out of the shower you hurry to dry off, teeth chattering. After completing the rest of your morning cleanliness rites, you step out of the bathroom and gasp in horror.

“Bärchen!”

Restricted to a rapid shuffle by the towel wrapped tight around your waist, you hurry over to your stuffed german shepherd and pick her up, cooing softly. Poor Bärchen, always on the ground. You place your loyal protector back on top of the mound of pillows that occupies the top third of your bed. “I’m sorry Bärchen,” you say as you put on the outfit you laid out last night, “it’s just not fair that I’m always kicking you off.”

You seize the stuffed animal by its forelegs and wiggle them around in a crude approximation of animation. “Not a problem,” you squeak in a higher than usual pitch, “After twenty two years, I’m used to it!”

Suddenly, you are overwhelmed by a wave of self consciousness. You release Bärchen’s arms and jerk upright, glancing around the room guiltily. You know everyone is a little odd when they’re alone, but still…

What’s more irrational, giving your stuffed dog a voice when you’re alone, or randomly getting the feeling that you're being watched?

Shaking your head, you reach out and pick up your e-glasses. It’s time to start the day.

You’ll probably have to check and see if Ivan’s done anything that requires your attention, but that can wait until you’ve had some more time to mentally brace yourself. You sigh and rub your eyes once more as you fill a large mug of coffee. You probably don’t need to be any more jumpy, but you really like coffee. Well, once it’s been civilized by the addition of a lot of half and half and sweetener. The combination of sugar, fat, and caffeine probably isn’t doing your heart any favors, but it’s not like you can’t get a new one. The StrikeOut health plan is pretty generous.

You take a seat at your coffee table, swinging your mug across the surface blindly. It pushes the files you were reviewing last night towards the precipitous plummet at the edge of the table. Your hand lashes out automatically, grabbing the files before they have a chance to scatter all across the room. You place the paperwork back on the table and sigh wistfully. You wish your hyperactive reactions could be channeled into more ninja moves like that, rather than yelping and falling over yourself at the slightest noise.

As if on queue, your tablet beeps loudly, eliciting an eep of alarm so high pitched you're sure only Bärchen could hear it. You pick up the device gingerly, as if it were a bomb, and check the messages. Seems like Bernie remembered to snag the doughnuts without your reminder. Smiling, both at the prospect of those delicious fried pastries and Bernie’s evident pride, you finish off your coffee and stand up. It’s time to get to work.
>>
Walking through the halls from your small suite to the HR department you nod at some familiar faces. You’re not too close with any of your neighbors. You quickly discovered that Ivan’s initial fear of you and HR was more the rule, and less the exception. It’s a little lonely, although it does help how close knit the department is. Everyone’s pretty personable.

Taking your usual seat on the Tram, you decide that the prospect of doughnuts has sufficiently braced you for any surprise paperwork Ivan’s left for you. You are pleasantly surprised to see that there’s nothing that requires your attention. As you lean back in your seat, you think about your merc.

Super OT hypothesis:

Yeah and I predict Valkyrie is a super advanced cyborg bent on pleasuring every merc who does something nextlevel so she can scan their bios.

That way the Millenium Emperor of Merckind can make the Astartes of this universe and purge this xeno-fruitbowl galaxy once and for all!
>>
You sigh to yourself. Ivan really is such a lovely person. Not at all the bloodthirsty maniac you were worried they’d put you with when you heard that your merc was CQC focused. You just… wish you could help him out a bit more. None of your fellow newbie advisors have made any progress whatsoever in opening up their mercs. There’s just not that much trust between the pairs. Pietra’s in a deep state of panic about her merc’s spending habits and Mark lives in fear of the days when his charge comes in for a discussion. Apparently Elda did not care for his mafioso impression. They all think you’re either a genius or supremely lucky with your merc.

You wish you could agree. You did agree! At least until that Bitter Prophet fiasco. Ivan was clearly troubled by that mission, and he refused to open up about it. Not that you really tried to get him to. You didn’t have the heart to hear about it. You still don’t.

You shake yourself, and try and shift your mindset. This line of thought is hardly doing your outlook any favors. You start looking on the bright side of things. There are doughnuts today! And it seems Ivan didn’t use any of his Herculean muscular structure to cause any property damage.

Mmm…

You wonder if you could advise Ivan to show off his forearms a little more often… or maybe an apron or something… to show off those shoulders of his...

Shaking the thought from your mind, you quickly get off of the Tram, keeping your head ducked down slightly to conceal a rising blush.

Even if Ivan were a pastry chef, you’re quite sure that isn’t how one makes a cream filled doughnut.

You hurry to your office and close the door. Taking a few stabilizing breaths, you wonder what to do next.

Regardless of your flusteration status (Very much) there’s work to be done. Namely pastry retrieval. Taking a final calming breath, you stride out of your office and make for the break room. You find Bernie standing with his arm straight up in the air, surrounded by your fellow newbies. The advisor smiles upon seeing you and quickly proffers the last cream filled doughnut. “Here ya go. Had to keep it safe from these animals.”

You take the pastry gratefully and bite into it, savoring the flavor. If there’s one thing you miss from being planetside it’s the ready access to real proper doughnuts. These are good enough, great by synthfood standards, but it’s just not the same. Still, something to look forward to when the shuttle to Atlas arrives. You take a seat at the break room table next to Pietra, who has decided to take a break from facepalming over Cy’s finances and actually relax. Just as you sit down Pietra speaks up. “So. Guess which one of our mercs got busted for breaking a few statutes with everyone’s favorite bad influence?”

You groan involuntarily. You didn’t see anything about that, but who knows? Maybe you just missed the ping. Pietra notices your reaction and smiles. “Don’t worry Sven. It’s not who you’d expect.”

You look up, curiosity replacing dread. It’s amazing how knowing you won’t be the one filling out property damage and misuse of facilities reports can change your perspective. “So who got Frazier’d?”

Mark lifts his hand miserably. About half of the newbies gasp in surprise. You’re one of them. “No way,” says Bernie, taking off his e-glasses and rubbing them on his shirt. “You’re kidding?”

Mark nods despondently. “I really hope I won’t have to interview her about it.”

This assumes anon doesn't want that to happen. It's not like we're making progress with Elda (or want it, according to some), and it's not as if Val is going to change who she is. Ivan has gone out of his way to be nice and friendly with her, far beyond what any of the other handlers have gotten from their assignments.

Svenja does have a fixation on Ivan anyhow. For better or worse, she's trying to take care of him (i.e. Bitter Prophet) because she cares - and that's up to the individual anon if that works out to be motherly, sisterly, or just shlicking every day.

If you've missed it, despite supposedly patching things up with Ivan, Elda had no problem messing around with Val. She said nothing to Ivan either, despite it kind of being obvious she should have, even if just to acknowledge the ping we sent her as warning.

Whether she actually did the dirty or not, that sure doesn't sound like Ivan is making progress with her. She also refused to go into why she reacted as she did in the discussion with Niels.

In the end, it's more like Elda is still keeping him at arm's length, rather than actually progressing anywhere.

Oh god. This was not a good idea. It sounded so cool in my head to have her breaking the forth wall and wave. Moral of the story: Animation is fucking hard and requires way more skill than I can muster at the moment.

You laugh softly and give Mark a sympathetic look. “I’ve been Frazier’d twice now, Mark.”

Pietra laughs bitterly. “Yeah, join the club Mark. We’ve got jackets. And if we don’t Cyrus would probably buy them for us anyway.”

You wince. You always feel a little uncomfortable whenever you hear an advisor speak ill of their merc. Although you can’t really blame Pietra. Apparently she’s had the fiscal responsibility talk with Cyrus more than once. Rubbing the back of your neck, you try to conceal your discomfiture. Mark on the other hand, has no such qualms speaking ill of his merc. “You’re lucky Pietra,” he sighs, “at least Cy seems like a nice guy. Elda is… Elda is somewhat unpleasant to be around.”

You decide to take your leave of the break room before the situation becomes any more awkward. Pietra is convinced that she got the worst of the rookies, and you know she’d see Mark’s depressive comments as a challenge. You return to your office, and get to work on some paperwork. Ivan’s eligible to drop again, and you need to get cracking on some mission summaries. You found a few you think he’d fit well with while reviewing the available requests last night. You figured you could wait a bit longer than usual before writing up the dossiers this time, since Ivan asked you just give him a fair and frank appraisal of each.

You get into the zone, fingers hammering away against the holokeyboard, synthesized clacking sounds fill the office. You hum to yourself, smiling. It’s about as close as you can get to a zen state, and you enjoy it. Not everyone is lucky enough to find work so cathartic.

Three loud knocks echo in the room and you yelp involuntarily. Holding your chest, you take a few steadying breaths.

There’s only one person who knocks on doors.

>Greet your merc! Also taking write in dialogue.

Val does not represent any form of emotional commitment or vulnerability for Elsa, Ivan does. Very different relationships and situation there.

>Plus, are you saying its fine that Ivan's gone at least three rounds with Val but it means something if Elsa gets Frazier'd once?

Ivan's rounds were before any "progress" with Elda, and definitely before our dancing with her, and subsequent talk and making up.

I think Ivan was quite clear at that point he was interested.

Elda certainly made it SOUND like she was at least interested after she apologized.

Ivan hasn't really pursued anything since. Not saying Elda should be waiting on him, but if that's the case, Ivan should feel free to spend more time with Val or even Simge.

Or even our pet rookie three once they progress.

Anyhow. I guess we'll see how it plays out, but I haven't seen anything yet to interest me at all in Elda as more than someone to stay away from.

My bad. Images are huge because screw thoughtful scaling. It probably ate up your phones cached memory. I have that happen all the time while browsing on a mobile platform. I will make sure to scale them down in file size next time. Loss in resolution quality isn't really that huge.

>>31210669

Make-up. They wanted to make her look a bit deranged, so Joker style lipstick. If you look at the clean one, it is the normal(ish) place.
>>
>>31210701

Actually, you're the one thinking that way. Romantic interest does not equal waifu, so for fucks sake stop jumping the gun, sheesh.

I basically said I'd rather start spending time with the other interests, even if it's just to get to know them. Too much spent on this Elda angle, and it's already been part of the story that Ivan has felt somewhat hurt by what's gone on.

I highly doubt that Elda is going to be having that talk with us anytime soon, and I don't believe in any of that analog toggle whatever you are trying to shit the quest up with, or insinuate. I could care less about that.

I just want Ivan to act more human, even if it's to get a little irritated and decide to keep things cooly professional for awhile (which was why it was nice when he pushed to just talk about the mission). Ivan is nice, but he is also not a doormat, and he's actually popular with the mercs.

Anyhow. Apologies to everyone else, I'll leave it be.
>>
>>31209609
Fairly well known and fairly large. The Brick is their main base of operations but many of their mercs live on Atlas or other worlds. The Brick isn't unfriendly to raising a family, but there are better places a merc can afford to live.

>>31209650
Depends. StrikeOut kind of has a few tiers of service. Corproations will put their mission contract out on a tier, and it will be made available to mercs with different skill levels. Hiring a merc team on the level of Darius or Valkyrie is extremely expensive.

So, StrikeOut ranges from one of the most elite to fairly average depending on what tier you hire.

There are a lot of merc companies. Only about 150 do drop assaults like StrikeOut does. Those missions are prohibitively resource intensive.

>>31209725
QED Inc acts as the de facto law. They have a few statues of corporate behavior. Although no corp is required to follow it, violation often results in your planet being cut off from the internet, which can quickly cripple a corp. Lawyers either do internal work, defending or prosecuting civilians who violate their corporation's statutes, write up contracts, or do appeals to QED. There is more to be said on this, and I will discuss it more in depth after the thread is done.

>>31209744
Not too many. Most of the current major merc companies were either too important to bother with StrikeOut and NeoLogos in the early days, or they were in a similar position to StrikeOut.

Mars is the only Co-op, so yeah.

>>31209783
It's debatable. Dreads, the Millennium Man, and a few other people you have not met yet/will not meet can all make claims. The problem is, most merc activities and identities aren't released to the general public. People know companies like StrikeOut exist, but they're very much a mystery.
>>
>>31210881
>I highly doubt that Elda is going to be having that talk with us anytime soon
I'm betting it happens during or after the stock exchange mission, which is what we're about to go on.
>>
>>31210959
That is, unless there is more exo-Elda than endo-Elda at the end of that mission.
>>
>>31210815
Now that's how you weaponize cuteness. I think her makeup isn't nearly messy enough to make her look deranged, but that mask sells it like nobody's business. Yeah, just a beautiful set of images. Thank you.
>>
>>31210959

Ugh, I hope not.

If it happens during, it's probably because Elda is bleeding all over the place and about to die. Can't see her deciding to talk about it during a mission where two other mercs would be present, Markos especially.

If it's after, she should at least do the cliche thing and say "We need to talk, Ivan. After the mission, if it's alright with you?"

Then we can panic and do our best to keep her alive while the mission goes to hell, which (with our dice rolling) it probably will.
>>
>>31210908
>They have a few statues of corporate behavior. Although no corp is required to follow it, violation often results in your planet being cut off from the internet, which can quickly cripple a corp.

Ha ha. I knew there had to be a Comstar in this setting.
>>
>>31210815

Actually when I said wide, I meant near her butt.

She got a booty. And a tummy.
>>
>>31211141
Nah, Elda doesn't seem like the deathbed confession type.

A frank conversation once here backstory becomes relevant? Sure. And we're hitting a mob bank, so it might be, but bringing the "bad times" up just because she's bleeding out? I'd also lose some respect for her.
>>
So, I had a thought. A crazy silly thought but a thought.

Now, we know that Valkyrie likes to go after people who catch her attention. But why do all/seemingly all of them respond?

Sometimes you just aren't in the mood for a roll in the hay/corridor whatever.

My insane theory is that she got a pheromone enhancer/creator/whatever installed after she got enough creds so she can now fuck whoever she wants, more or less when she wants.

Begin making fun now.

“Come on in Ivan.”

The door opens and the tower of a man walks into your office. Oh god, you didn’t think t-shirts could get that tight. You can see the amusement on his face and intercept his question. “Yes, of course I knew it was you. You’re the only person in this day and age who still knocks on doors.”

Ivan chuckles and lounges back in his chair. “Somehow I figured that was the case. You must be the third person to call me out on that this month. So what’ve you been up to?”

You try to conceal you smile. You’re far more satisfied than you should be that you were able to predict his question. “Oh, not much. I’ve been thinking about creaming m-”

You catch yourself before things could get weird. Ivan cocks his head curiously as your face goes slightly pink. “I mean,” you continue, “I’ve been thinking about cream doughnuts. My cream doughnut to be precise. Which I just finished.”

You point at your wastebin with unnecessary force. Ivan eyes you for a moment before shrugging minutely. “Yeah. I’m partial to bagels myself, so no need to worry about me pillaging HR for doughnuts.”
>>
Part of you is irrationally disappointed by this revelation. That part is instantly satiated and Ivan interlocks his fingers and stretches both arms, cracking his knuckles. You stare at his flexing forearms before returning your focus to your charge. “Well, doughnut raids aside, what else brings you to HR?”

Ivan chuckles and rests his hands behind his head. You resist the urge to look at his triceps. “Three guesses.”

“Do you want to see what missions you’re eligible for?”

“Not quite,” Ivan replies, suddenly leaning forward, forearms resting on his thighs. You can see a glint of shite as he half smiles. “I already had a mission in mind.”

>Oh God, no. Does he not trust me to select his missions after Bitter Prophet? Why did I tell him that… it’s completely ruined the trust we’ve built up. Oh no. Oh no oh no.

It was before. She brought up the subject after we went to see her about our pay for the Merc Idol mission...

Despite the storm of self doubt once again raging in your head, you maintain composure. “Oh really? Are you trying to put me out of a job Ivan?”

Ivan laughs. “Absolutely. I’ll go around and give seminars on conflict resolution strategies,” he leans a bit further forward and stage whispers, “Spoiler, all the strategies involve axes.”

Relaxing back into his chair once more, Ivan continues, “But seriously. A friend of mine informed me of a mission, called Operation Capital Shock. It really caught my eye.”

Your brow furrows once more. You don’t remember reading about Capital Shock in the dossiers you printed out yesterday. You hop onto your terminal and glance around the mission lists. Sure enough, there it is. Operation Capital Shock. You scroll through the mission description, reading it with growing concern.

Eventually you turn your attention back to Ivan. “I mean, I’m no tactical expert or anything of the sort Ivan, but this seems a little dangerous.”

You notice a momentary flash of what might be guilt flit across Ivan’s face. You press on. “It’s your call of course, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I’m just trying to keep your best interests in mind when I say that.”

Yes, definitely guilt. What does he have to feel guilty about?

Suddenly Ivan is smiling. Not his usual lax smile either. A genuine, if wistful, smile. “Damn Svenja. It feels nice to know someone cares that much about me. But really, there’s no need to. I know what I’m getting into with this one.”

You nod, your nerves already slightly on edge. “Alright Ivan, it’s your call after all. “I’ll get everything prepared.”

Ivan stands up. “Alright, cool. Thanks Svenja.”

Just before he steps out into the hallway, Ivan turns back around. “Hey Svenja,” he asks, hand on the doorframe, “I was going to offer to buy you a drink again, but then I remembered. Have you tried the champagne yet?”
>>

You smile. You’re really not one for the bar scene, but this might be the opportunity you’ve been looking for to take Ivan up on his long standing offer. “Oh, not yet,” you reply, “Do you want to take part in popping the cork?”

Ivan grins. “Sure. How about once I’m back from Capital Shock? We’ll savor that shit like the tasters in Bottle Shock.”

You laugh politely, certain that you’ve missed a reference of some flavor. “I’m certain we will savor it. I look forward to popping the cork with you.”

Ivan chuckles his agreement and waves goodbye.

You are once again alone in your office. You look down in your lap and groan. “Of course. This never happens when I bring a napkin,” you mutter as you wipe some cream off of your skirt.

You are Ivan Kostov once more and you are fairly pleased with yourself. You were pretty worried when Svenja decided to press the Capital Shock issue. The fact that she dropped it, and then followed it up with an invitation for some champagne! Good stuff right there. Although it was a little disconcerting that even a civvie like her could see that the mission was going to be a challenge.

Yeah, if your HR advisor can see the mission is going to be a struggle, you know you’ll be in for a hard time. You still have some 11,000 credits on hand. Maybe you should look around in the Armory for some improved weaponry before the drop. That'd be a good idea. But what should you get?

We're likely to need every bit of extra firepower/backup we can get. I'm expecting we will either run out of ammo, or have to go full melee at some point, and the chainsaw may have some use beyond just combat.

as many as we can carry but not enough to intrude on our OMPs

Also, we will want mag upgrades for our OMPs and possibly aiming mods for the smgs

Let's get that multipurpose dart launcher with the cameras and microphones and shit.
>>
>>31212854

YES

ALL OF MY YES
>>
>>31212837
It's also fucking stupid to rely only on pistols as a main weapon, particularly when real life pistols suck balls, but that hasn't kept us from doing so.
>>
how much would the nano tube cable be?
>>
>>31212882
theres rule of cool and theres plausible, and that idea does not fit in either
>>
>>31212852
The cable would be useful. In the best case scenario, we can use our tomahawk as a make-shift grappling hook, we can choke someone out with the cable and have our own throwing axe in one package.
>>
>>31212899
which is why I'm pushing for us to mod out our OMPs, we've got 2 of them and they use our handguns stat, which is Tier 3 so we get good modifiers for dicerolls

and our AR training is Tier 1 so we no longer get negative modifiers for using it
>>
>>31212899
Real life pistols don't break unaugmented wrists when fired.

Besides, that's for close quarters. We have the AR for longer range now.
>>
>>31212901
The Tomahawk cable retrieval system would be... 3,000 Credits. I imagine you guys could think of some other ways to use a nanotube cable than just retrieving a tomahawk.

>>31212909
Retraction system would not be powerful enough to lift an entire human being in combat armor.
>>
>>31212860
And it doesn't have anything to do with the special rounds that the shotgun and only the shotgun could use. Yeah, sure, pal, I'm sure EMP slugs are useless.

But would the cable be strong enough to support a human in combat armor?

>>31212925
Actually, I've wondered for a while... Fall Guy, are SMGs that could be held in both hands fall under our pistol modifier or our rifle modifier?
>>
>>31212962
Pirate gun would be 3,000 credits. You'd have to buy the ammo yourself.

>>31212965
Yes. The problem isn't with the nanotube wire, it's the power of the motor to reel you in.

>>31212986
SMGs are handguns for the purposes of skill modifiers.
>>
>>31212986
check the pastebins, SMGs fall under the 'Handguns' category, so we are as good with them as our Model 223

>>31212965
if it can't lift our weight, it can't safely support our weight so shut up its a stupid idea

>>
>>31213001
>Pirate gun would be 3,000 credits. You'd have to buy the ammo yourself.
How much for the ammo?

Also would it classify as a 'handgun'?
>>
Didn't we already agree to get a PDW which would still fall under the pistol category but also give us more range plus it normally takes a rifle round so it would unchangeable with our rifle ammo meaning only having to buy one type of ammo.
>>
Do rocket boots exist? And how much are they?
>>
>>31213001
Could we get a second pulley system installed in our gauntlet with a beefier motor, then let it go slack so the chord can be rewound into our ax's handle when we aren't swinging it around?
>>
>>31213001

>>31213034

PDWs normally take necked down pistol cartridges with spitzer bullets. I think you may be thinking of the Magpul PDR which takes rifle rounds.
>>
Can we do a quick upgrade to our guns too?

Not sure how our tech skills play into that, something like a high-profile 3-dot type sight system on our assault rifle and revolver could be good.

Maybe upgrade the feed ramps on our OMPs and Assault Rifles?
>>
>>31213068
Also get a knife so we can be true Naked Snake CQC god.
>>
>>31213034
Never mind they use miniaturized rifle round so its not the same ammo
>>
>>31213067
I did read it, and its still a problem with the motor being able to support our weight
>>
>>31213001
Weren't we reconsidering purchasing that gauntlet-mounted dartlauncher that was capable of firing all sorts of useful utility darts like sticky cameras, and could also be used for silent takedown with knockout/poison darts? I'd much rather have that than any mods currently offered.

It would be an odd combination of handgun and explosives, since the projectiles fire in an arc. You wouldn't suffer a negative modifier when using it, but you wouldn't get much of a positive one either.

Anons went for a weapon mod that essentially turned one of the OMPs into a PDW.

You bustle off to the armory and spend a large portion of your remaining credits purchasing a smart scope for your AR, a retrieval system for your tomahawk, and a pirate gun. All told, the three things cost you 9,900 credits, leaving you with a grand total of 1,929 credits to your name. You browse the selection of grenades for the pirate gun. The more commonly used ones have pirate themed names. The more esoteric ones… not so much.

>GROG (General Reaction Obliviation Grenade)- a gas grenade that releases a cloud of knockout gas. 25 Credits
>Grapeshot- A massive canister of flechettes. Mixes the stopping power and widespread damage of a shotgun with potent (body) armor penetrating flechettes. 15 Credits
>Cannonball: A simple high explosive round. 20 Credits
>Greek Fire: A terrifyingly potent (in oxygen that is) thermobaric round. More powerful against personnel than armor. 25 credits
>Elmo’s Fire: An EMP grenade that scrambles electronics. 30 credits
>Sunburn: a blindingly bright mixture of magnesium and phosphorus that will permanently blind people within 15 meters of detonation unless they have protective visors (like you). 15 Credits
>Smoke: Smoke. 10 Credits

well the frying comes after we get the skeleton key and upload the virus, the frying would be a worst case backup plan situation cause it would kill the servers dead
>>
You decide to purchase a pretty good all around kit of grenades. Something that'll leave you ready to deal with a variety of threats. You get:

>4x Cannonballs
>2x Greek Fire
>3x Grapeshot
>2x Elmo's Fire
>2x Smoke
>2x GROG

For a total of 305 credits. You have a total of 1,624 credits in your checking account. Pleased by your acquisitions, you spend the rest of the day in the armory work station, getting your gear ready for the drop tomorrow. Eventually, you take your leave of the Armory. As you exit the shop, the lights go dark. Seems like the Armorer was waiting on you.

Touched, if slightly guilty, you return to your suite and fall into bed.

Shit will get real very soon.
>>
>>31214843
Grenades have an area affect, right? Somehow, I doubt that would work.
>>
Alright, and that's all for tonight.

Another thread on Thursday. Will be lurking to do more Q&A.
>>
>>31214910
Right there was something else. How was the Svenja POV switch?
>>
>>31214910
Thanks for the thread FG, looking forward to the drop, hopefully the dice are favorable this time.

Also, we should get more people dumping awesome semi futuristic artwork of possible gear and characters.
>>
>>31214929
Needed more DOUGHNUT.
>>
>>31214929
Seeing as never really got to know our HR Rep aside from briefings and debriefings, it was a great way to expand her character-wise.
>>
>>31214929
Fun. Was initially a bit put off but it worked. The lewd undertones were cute. Svenja waifu... huehue.
>>
>>31214929
Funny and a nice change of pace. I liked it.

Any plans for doing a few posts as our co-workers?
>>
>>31215011
I would prefer not having a POV of them. Let their characterization via Ivan's POV tell us what we need to know. But whatever, I trust Fall Guy and his writing pretty well.
>>
>>31214929

>>31214988
This, it seems it'd be hard to flesh her out since Ivan isn't going to see her for more than a few minutes each time (until this drinks thing happens).

All in all I am in favour of glazing and cork-popping and cream-filling.

Also what happened with Linda? We need a cool biotech "friend" to help us with nxtlvl augments. And cream-filling.
>>
>>31215047
Maybe we can introduce her to Markos, once we beat the fratboy out of him.
>>
>>31215011
I wouldn't mind a game going through a day in the life of Bob the bartender.
>>
>>31215011
I'm unsure. Leaning a bit towards no, unless they end up in a situation like Svenja's, where it would behoove you, the players, to know more about them, but interactions aren't available.

>>31215047
Linda's fallen by the wayside for a little while. I'm re-ramping myself back up to writing a larger cast once I get a bit more practice in.
>>
I bet when Svenja and Ivan get drunk, they'll both get into a heated argument to which is better: cream-filled doughnuts or bagels.
>>
>>31215083
That would be hilarious, if we get to play the Armorer as she reads her well worn copy of Dragon Fucker while ripping off mercs for guns, and on the flipside, playing as Bob getting them drunk and listening to their problems and gossip.
>>
>>31215103
:O what if they try to cream-fill a bagel?
>>
>>31215103
Its the future, surely there is a cream-filled fried bagel! Compromise! That's the name of the game.
>>
>>31215103
what if you looped a cream-filled donut and bagel together?

QUICK SOMEBODY CALL MARKETING AND PATENT THIS
>>
>>31215133
>>31215136
>>31215147

Gentlemen, I believe we have seen the future.
>>
>>31215147
>>31215136
The cream-filled bagel. A bastard borne from Svenja and Ivan's drunk escapades.
>>
>>31214929
Great thread man, but could you leave the setting background questions for near the end of the thread in the future? I personally love the shit out of world building fluff, but I feel like it slowed down the thread quite a bit.
>>
>>31215093
This might sound a bit bait-y Fall Guy, and I hope it doesn't come off like that. But DAQ is pretty far and away the most sexually active, I guess, non-smut quest. Why is it like that?

Please note, I'm not complaining. It's just that no other QM except maybe Larro, flirts with lewd as much as you do.
>>
>>31215174
And 9 months later, a doughboy pops out.
>>
>>31215184
I would guess it is because adults, especially in high risk jobs, like to fug.
>>
>>31215184
Pretty much this >>31215203
>>
>>31215184
Aspiring Emperor Quest treads the same waters too, which mildly annoys me because I prefer the empire building and conquering part of it more.
>>
>>31215180
Yeah, definitely something to do in the future anon. Honestly, when I started running my post-thread Q&As I intended to use them to dump setting info for curious anons.

>>31215184
The lewdness of the quest has to do with my own predictions for how the future human society of DAQ works. There's a general liberalization (in the old fashioned sense. Obviously DAQ isn't terribly leftist in the traditional sense) in the years between now and DAQ. Part of that is the fall of gov'ts and the ascendance of super-corporations.

Another part of that is the general collapse of many forms of morality in the face of both a more liberal society and technological change. There is perfect birth control. As in, 100% efficacy, never get pregnant, no need for condom, birth control. The general collapse of traditional monogamy as a result of hyper-elongated human lifespans, have also made exclusivity much less important to DAQ humans. There are more factors, but those two in particular have gone a long way to loosening sexual moors.

People don't usually have sex to have kids. Most of them are artificially created in gene therapy clinics like BiodYne's and implanted into the mother. Sex has lost much of it's meaning. Whether that is good or bad is something you can decide on your own. The characters of DAQ don't really care either way.

>People don't usually have sex to have kids. Most of them are artificially created in gene therapy clinics like BiodYne's and implanted into the mother. Sex has lost much of it's meaning. The characters of DAQ don't really care either way.

For some reason, that made me incredibly depressed.
>>
>>31215341
So how abot that QED law? Who watches over QED?
>>
>>31215341
So GATTACA, but far enough into the future that people don't really discriminate based on gene "superiority"

Also, goddamnit I'm late for shopping again. Lemme wrack my brain for more suggestions
>>
>>31215341
I don't think the lewdness has been that bad. You've basically bypassed anything explicit and more just stated "it happened, Ivan is now awake".

I got shown a Pokémon Quest Pastebin that was straight up lesbian slash fic.
>>
>>31215409
Nobody really. QED Inc is the last word of authority in Human Space. Luckily, the guys in charge are pretty cool dudes. When you are literally the single most powerful three people in human history, a lot of petty shit like personal wealth and aggrandizement just kind of... goes away. Imagine three Bill Gates or Warren Buffets being in charge. Cool dudes who genuinely want what's best for humankind.

>>31215436
Yeah, pretty similar to GATTACA actually. Except everyone is at least somewhat superhuman. At least by our standards.

>>31215453
topkek

>>31215390
Yeah. If it makes you feel any better, sex as a romantic gesture is still around. There's just an acknowledged divide between romantic sex and recreational sex.
>>
>>31215453
Not even the QM of Pokemon Quest expected it to go that far.
>>
>>31215522
Didn't he write that pastebin though? Anyway it definitely didn't belong on /tg/

Fall Guy, not DAQ related but just curious, what are your favourite tg quests/RPGs/experiences if you have any to share?
>>
>>31215517
>pretty cool rulers
Teah, I think youre being overly optimistic.
Usually, people who get into such a position get there over a lot of dead bodies with some kind of a goal.
And its not "everyone should be happy".
Rather, the three would realistically have some sort of a common goal (get to xy nebula, there have been alien signals from there, prepare for war) or possibly there should be an inner strife between them, creating pressure.
All in all, these three people DO NOT goof off and resolvepetty law. They realistocally have goals of magnitude, which moves whole of humanity.
Im tthinking they KNOW about pear aliens
>>
>>31215575
Much of my RPG experience comes from vidya. I've only been part of a few DnD groups and the like. Mostly cause coordinating that shit in college is hard.

I DMed for a group earlier this year. One of my players made a morbidly obese tweenage half elf paladin. He was also a pretty skilled drawfag, so we got some great character art from him. Shit was cash.

As for quests, I haven't been able to attend as many as I like due to school and running my own quest. But I usually try to keep up with Hero Quest and Bone Mage Quest. There are a few others I keep track of in the archive or am trying to catch up with.

>>31215704
An interesting take anon. Unfortunately, my stance on most info about the Pear Aliens keeps me from confirming or denying any of it.
>>
>>31215575
I meant that he didn't orginally intend Pokemon Quest to be Lesbian Trainers Quest, but rolled with it anyway. Then went even farther.
>>
>>31215765
Suggestions:

>Safe, Reusable impact gel
Not anytime soon, but one of these days, that toxic crap is gonna kill Ivan

>Doubleshot Rounds
A modified smart scope and a transmitter in the first bullet to make the second bullet hit the exact same spot. Increased penetration, has less armor to go through, and more accurate(no need for a computer to calculate the outline of the target)
Probably only worth it for snipers.

>Rat Bombs
Remote controlled bombs what walk/crawl silently. Also good for recon.

>Gel Bomb, Gelthrower
Releases a thick slime that immediately hardens on contact with air. Cheaper versions don't bother to make sure the target can breath.
Can protect civvies from crossfire.
Can also act as cover.
>>
>>31215765
>>31215957
>Super Bubblewrap
A bag that self-compresses when activated, protecting the object inside and making for convenient extraction(looting)

>Scanner
A handheld scanner that gives a rough estimate of material composition(walls, floors, doors, etc.)
More expensive version can tell how thick they are, how much force they'll take, etc.
>>
>>31215957
>>Doubleshot Rounds
Check out Project Salvo and the Special Purpose Individual Weapon concepts and projects, they covered this topic during the 50/60/70's and made a lot of good research and functioning gear, no need for hightech electronics in the first round if you can fire the second and third round before the recoil impulse, that way the barrel is still pointing at the same place.

The H&K G11 is the peak of that concepts evolution (And yes they fixed all its flaws and made it a fucking awesome thing, but theres little online about the G11K1, G11K2, G11KA2 modifications).

Think your name fell off fallguy.
>>
>>31216242
Ah fuck me nervermind. I'm to drunk for this shit.
>>
>>31216253
I think you mean you're not drunk enough for this shit yet.
