You are Reinhold, master swordsman and victor of the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. The King was so impressed with your skill, he personally requested that you be transferred out of the army and into the Royal Guard! Not bad for an orphan who was raised in a brothel in a poor fishing village.

The only issue at this point is your assignment... you've been charged to be the personal guard of the King's only daughter Marianne. While she is the vision of loveliness that you'd expect from a Princess, her personality is... well... she seems to have some issues.

After walking Luciana back to her room, you and Gerhard headed back to your suite, where Marianne was waiting for you... along with Melanie.

Melanie is particularly happy to see that Gerhard is doing fine.

>Congratulations, you are now a timid LLAMA!
>Llamas are strong and hardy... but also rather skittish.
>The Princess considers you to be her friend!
>But while llamas may be majestic, they still don't count as people.

"I never took you for the matchmaking type, Gerhard," Marianne says.
"I'm really not," Gerhard shrugs. "But Miss Melanie was the first person in the castle who made anything resembling an effort to try and befriend me so I have a bit of a personal stake in her happiness."
"He may seem scary at first, but he's really just a big softy," Melanie says, hugging him one more time before making her way back to the couch.

Well that would explain why she's the only one who knew about his past...

"Breakfast will be here soon," Marianne says. "I wouldn't mind if you wanted to eat with us..."
"While I appreciate the offer, I should probably inform Miss Sylvie and the others of my safe return before they assume the worst," Gerhard says, bowing slightly before he starts back towards the door.
"Very well," she replies. "And I suppose that you'd like to eat breakfast with Nicolette," she says, turning to Melanie.

"A- actually," Melanie replies, "that would be nice. And I think that I may have offended Miss Sylvie and Miss Rana this morning so giving them some time away from me would probably be a good idea," she says, blushing slightly.

You're not sure what she might have done to make them mad at her, but knowing the way that she is first thing in the morning...

Marianne once mentioned that she occasionally ask Melanie to help her when she has trouble reaching but outside of that she seems to handle herself.
>>
Just as Gerhard opens the door to leave, a maid shows up with your breakfast. Naturally, she's scared quite a bit. After the usual apologies, Gerhard makes himself scarce and the three of you head to the table in order to eat.

It's nothing special, however- just some loaves of bread and an assortment of cheeses.

"We'll be on the road in a few hours, so try not to gorge yourself," Marianne says as she bites into a piece of bread. "I'd hate for you to end up with motion sickness in the carriage..."
"Eh?" Melanie gasps. "Mr. Reinhold, I didn't know that you weren't good with vehicles..."

WHY does she have to take that stupid joke seriously...

"She's just messing with me, Melanie," you reply.
"Oh- er, sorry..." Melanie mumbles, clearly embarrassed.

"So, umm..." Marianne says, fidgeting, "...are you going to be quitting your job as a maid now?"
"Wh- why would I ever do that!?" Melanie exclaims, staring at the PRincess as if she'd just said something insane.
"You and Nicolette are together now, so I was wondering if you'll be moving into her parents' house now that umm..."
"It- it's not like we can get married or anything!" she says, her face now completely flushed. "And I haven't made any plans to move in with her or anything, I was hoping that things would just continue as they were for now at the very least."

Upon hearing Melanie say that, Marianne breathes a long sigh of relief.

"That's good," the Princess says. "I was worried after you made your announcement, but I suppose that I had no reason to be."
"Ehehe... regardless of what I decide to do in the future, I'll never leave you alone, Princess!" Melanie replies with a warm smile.

"So much for you becoming Head Maid, though," Marianne says, shaking her head. "Nicolette is busy enough as it is, and I doubt that you'd want to end up as busy as Arnaud gets..."
"I was only suggested for that position because I'm liked by all of the castle's staff," Melanie replies. "It never interested me to begin with, I'm happy with where I am now."
"It's going to disappoint a lot of people whenever you formally decline, but I can't exactly blame you. It's a lot of work for very little reward, after all."
"Yes..." she nods. "Even Mr. Arnaud gets stressed out sometimes by all of the things that he's expected to take care of, and I can only imagine that it's a lot worse on him right now with all of us out of the country."

Alsiradna comes down town and challenges Reinhold to a fistfight?
Melanie cheats on Nicolette with Rana?

Marianne admits that she wants Thierri's D?
Something interesting happens to Reya?
Emilio is revealed to be a reverse trap too?

"You know," Matthias says as he drops a VERY heavy bag into my arms, "Mom's gonna lose it when she finds out what happened to us yesterday... and that you're not coming home."
"Don't remind me," I reply. I truly dislike upsetting her, and even the news of my knighting isn't going to make my sudden absence any easier on her. "Is this the last of your things?"
"Yeah," he nods. "Those're the souvenirs I bought for everyone so you better not drop it."
"As if I would," I sigh.

Even after everything that's happened in the past few days, Matthias -still- acts like I'm nothing better than a clumsy child. I know that this is just the way he is, but it's still extremely annoying.

With the last of my brother's bags packed, I place the one that he just gave me on the cart that his other things are on and move it towards the door, maneuvering myself so that I can both pull it and open the door at the same time. With a grunt, I turn the knob and push the door open...

...and much to my surprise, there are several people waiting just outside the door.

"How kind of you, helping your brother with his things," Akemi says, holding the long sleeve of her kimono up to her face and uses it to cover her mouth as she laughs at me.
"Good morning," I reply, nodding to her as I finish pulling the cart out of the room. "You came to see my brother off, I take it?"
"Our stuff's already at our carriage, we're just waiting for Lisette and Giancarlo to finish up packing," Sadaharu replies. "So I figured that we'd bug you guys in the meantime," he says with a deep chuckle.

"Well it's nice to see you guys before I leave," Matthias says, following behind me while carefully holding a bag.

Knowing him, it probably has some fancy gift that he picked out for Michiko...

"You guys're heading for the port to the north, right?" Matthias asks.
"Yeah, we're taking a ship from there," Sadaharu replies. "And since Celestino asked us, we're going to be riding with the folks from Krassato up until then..."
"...and your brother's going to be escorting us along the way," Akemi says, finishing his sentence.
"Umm, are you sure that you can't come with us?" Masaharu tugs on my brother's shirt. "Our carriage has a lot of room..."
"Sorry, but my mother would have a heartattack if neither one of us came back home," Matthias replies as he rustles the Prince's hair. Maybe some other time."

"Just consider it a standing offer then," Sadaharu says. "Whenever you're ready to visit us, just send us a letter and I'll have someone sent over here to pick you up if I can't come myself," he nods.
"I'm sure you'll love it," I say, patting him on the back. "And just think, you might even get knighted as well!"
"Umm, we don't really have knights..." Masaharu says. "But Dad says that it's good to make strong friends from all over, and we don't have too many of those!"
"I don't know if I could really be considered as a 'strong' ally," Matthias replies, laughing nervously.
"But you were able to back Mom up and protect us from those scary guys," he mumbles. "I wanna be like the Prince of Roussanne, he has lots of strong friends like dragons and Sealed Kings!"

Oh, so you weren't the first Sealed King that Sadaharu and his family have been in contact with? That would explain why they weren't horribly impressed when I revealed you, I suppose...

"I- I'd heard that he had a new holder, but you say that you've actually met him before!?" I stammer, unable to hide my surprise.
"Yes, his new master was one of the Prince of Roussanne's travelling party when he came to visit us a few months ago," Sadaharu replies. "Surprised the hell out of me too..."

Wow, I can't even imagine...

"Anyways, that impressed upon our son just how important it is to have powerful friends," Akemi says. "And I suppose that he's decided that he wants -you- to be the first of his group of friends for when he becomes King someday!"
"I.. I'm really flattered that you even consider me to be on the same level as someone like that..." Matthias replies.

After Melanie leaves the room, you decide that you might as well get things ready for when you leave. After moving Marianne's bags over by the door (with her permission, of course), you head over to your bedroom and do the same with your luggage as well.

"You know, I only said that as a joke," Marianne says, looking over at the neatly-stacked luggage. "Normally the servants handle things like that for us."

Youre overestimating Sealed Kings.
They have power. They will ALWAYS try to power through fights. That can be fought around.
Numbers also work. Two skilled swordsmen with basic defensive spells can work together and flank and kill a Sealed King wielder imo.

Even Gregory said SK are overestimated.
Skill > power.

I based the design off of a design an anon drew for PGQ earlier, and I liked it a lot, but I remembered later that there was an OP image arch kept posting, so I tried doing the hair like that.

And though he had no love for any of his other descendents, he was close with Valikarias and so had decided that he would be the only one to witness his ascent to the stars.

With the revelation that Prosegana had also seen this ascent, not to mention that that sight was the impetus for everything that had transpired since, Valikarias felt a newfound responsibility towards Prosegana and swore that he would somehow repay the life debt that he now owed him.

well this explanation may be a bit of an ass pull from me, but it may look patchwork because it is supposed to be that way. in setting weapons get transported from real world to fantasy land, and since only the nose of a fighter jet (forget which model) is one of the things in the giant armory vault by canon, then it isn't too much of a stretch to think they may have gotten a couple different half tanks and just frankensteined them together

We /k/ now?

Rolled 6

While that's not unreasonable, I question exactly how the ZnT universe mages would have any clue whatsoever as to even where to put said parts, let alone a remotely correct method for assembling them.

They sure as hell don't have handheld welding tools -magical or not-, that's for sure.

>>31196608
Nah, but we do have a lot of historical RPĂ©rs/Wargamers/Reenactors here.
>>
Feels weird reading about a dude doing all this crazy shit with his descendant a few meters away from you.

I have some stuff to finish up before I go to sleep and I need to be up early so I'm going to have to call it night here, guys.
And many thanks to the folks who drew those picture-type art things, it is appreciated.

Next thread will be Tuesday night. Dunno the time, i have a bunch of writing to do.

And thanks for playing!
>>
>>31196661

Cheers.

We're heading down to the carriage straight away after the reading, right?
>>
>>31196661
Thanks for running, it'll be great to get finally finish the book and get back to Granache
>>
>>31196667
Pretty much, yeah.

I guess I'll answer some questions while I finish up this stuff should you guys have any. I have maybe 10-15 minutes to spare

more ass pulling
since the weapons/tank are all collected by the magic vatican, they had more than enough money, resources, and religious power to hire basically anyone they wanted they could have had the best of their best working on it for 50+ years to get it to a functioning (if only barely) state, which is somewhat supported in canon by them having to ditch the thing almost immediately after it's first fight due to maintenance issues

and for even further ass pulling a manual of some kind could have been inside one of the tank halves

and for handheld welding tools i'm pretty sure square ranked fire mages can achieve the same effect, even if they can't work at that rate for more than 10-20 minutes a day

Are we still on Namek?

Only one person wanted to read before you started writing...Did you do that of your own choice, or did you just decide to not do either of the most voted choices?

Namek will explode in FIVE MINUTES!

Thanks OP, you a good one

Except they've never done any of the shit you've seen in universe.

They've stored it and never done anything with any of it until generic Japanese protagonist shows up.

Pretty much everyone is a chronic moron.

Occam's razor dictates that the artist fucking up is the simplest and most plausible explanation, really.

>>31196707
hence why i said all that was an ass pull on my part

Can we at least get the carriage to stop by Eschenwald residence on our way out?
>>
>>31196674

How old are Andreas and Gerhard? They feel significantly older than Reinhold at time but I'm not sure.
Do they any family or SO?
>>
>>31196686
two people voted to read, three people voted to talk (with just >talk to marie) and there were a whole bunch of lets skip ahead and get fuck out. A good way to skip ahead to leaving is making MC read a book in the meanwhile. It is also more productive then just saying an hour passes.

You should draw Luci. So that you can then draw Luci und Panzer. Seriously though, that style is perfect for cutesy spoofs, I love it.
>>
>>31196701
So that means that we should've left already? I mean, the only reason i can think of Arch making us read the book is that the fluff is a major part of the future plot, where we'll need to learn about Prosegana or some shit, which makes no sense because he said that we're never gonna make contact with any of the SKs unless they're brought to us, or we hear about them.
>>
>>31196725
Andreas is middle aged. I am not sure about Gerhard but i think he is around thirty.

Thanks for the thread, arch.

How much of the quest is left? I remember it being 50% earlier. How much potential stuff have we missed, especially significant or important events?
>>
>>31196748
Well, since his pacing is slower than his namesake, it's going to be a while longer, but it has been confirmed to have a definite end.
>>
>>31196678
Forever.

>>31196725
Gerhard is 28. He was raised by his mother, who was a barmaid who got knocked up by a dragon adventurer who happened to be passing through the area. That's why his name doesn't fit draconic naming schemes.

Andreas is 23. He has a mother and father but no significant others or anything of the sort.
And since I can't think of any place where this'll become relevant thanks to the way that the story has progressed, I might as well tell you now that he was kind f crushing on Luciana.

>>31196748
Maybe 70% at this point? I'm not quite sure.
And I apologize for my awful pacing.

Isn't Luciana supposed to come back as soon as she finish packing?
