You are Shax Bonemurder, Raid Leader! Last time you single handled stopped an apocalyptic invasion by a false prophet, and gained the blessing of some dark sea god lady in the process! Good job! She says she is your pal, but she might be everyone's mom. You're not sure how that religion works. Or any religion, really. Oh, right. You also inspired a huge amount of kuo-toa guys to join your party. Whoop is "indoctrinating" them, whatever that means, right now. You think it was twenty of them. That's a HUGE number!

>Current Raid Group: http://pastebin.com/mZgVD5yH
>Current Ability Tree, Freshly Remodeled!: http://pastebin.com/aBfqv1vP

You now have:
>30/32 BtB exp
>28/32 MSiF exp
>14/32 CyRCTHaM exp
>1/8 FMMM exp, 1/1 Tidal Points.

With another side quest done, you scratch off another entry in the journal with a sigh. Jeez, you do this stuff a lot, huh? You're practically more of an adventurer than actual adventurers. Guess maybe you have a talent at this?

You've got a few days before you get back to camp. You have a ton of new recruits who are eager to serve you in what they keep calling your "tide of darkness". They don't have much training, though! How do you want to divide them up on your way to camp?

>Bearbreath is a solitary curmudgeon, but he could get some basic nature magic in a few! Maximum three.
>Brokagh is a punchmaster, and you can create your own retinue of sneaky punchmasters with training from him! Maximum ten.
>Whoop can begin making an armed clerical force! Maximum ten.
>Sitri will train a few to help rally your forces with musicial enchantments. Maximum five.
>Save some for other notable individuals back at camp! All twenty can be saved!

>Divide up the twenty fish guys into those groups!

Three for Bearbreathe because that seems stupidly useful.

Eight for Whoop because healing for everybody.

Three for Sitri because buffs are nice but too many would be redundant.

Six for Brokagh because we need sneaksters for a raid!

"Hey, boss," Gneb sidles up to you, "This is a lot of fish guys isn't it? What the heck are we gonna do with all of them?" You turn and look at the loping along. They don't have mounts and you're not sure how the heck you're going to get some to them. Guess you have an actual foot force now? They seem pretty fresh and untrained.

"Let's give some to Bearbreath, Whoop, Sitri, and maybe a couple for Bokagh. Might as well train them up and get more specialists goin'!" You pump a fist. This is how a leader should be! Makin' others do the work and taking the credit for it.

Gneb doesn't seem as excited as you. "Yeah, that's a good, boss, but how the heck are we gonna determine who goes where?" Oh that's a good point.

You're not good at all this logistics stuff. You're not sure how Beyto would do this...

>"I'd give them all a quick attribute assessment and then assign them to the areas they are most suited for personality and talent wise." - Beyto says to you, on the topic of mass new recruits. You nod along politely while single mindedly eating a launch haunch of ham.

You know! You'll divide them up by foot size. "Hey, you fish guys! I'm gonna assign you to your new sub leaders now, so line up! And stick out your foot." They complied with confused looks.

The three six guys with the biggest feet go to Brokagh, because they need big feet for kicking. Brokagh had no argument for that logic. The three with the least barnacle encrusted feet went to Sitri cause you wouldn't want to make her deal with dirty guys, and they had pretty thin flippers. The three with the weirdest shaped feet got sent to Bearbreath cause he is weird, but you didn't say that, you just said they'd 'suit him', and then the rest went to Whoop, because you got tired of sorting them.

A job well done. Now it is time to get back to camp!

You don't wanna drag the fresh recruits back to base camp like this, they are pretty embarassing right now. Virtually untrained with just some kinda depressing spears that are really more like sharp sticks. But, hey, more bodies are always welcome!

Sitri puts together a four man band pretty quickly, with some drums, a bassist, a guitarist, and her as vocals and on pipes. Their initial performances are what you imagine suffering sounds like if it were to take the form of noise. But Sitri is patient with them, and after a few days it only sounds utterly terrible!

Whoop has plenty of progress with his boys, as they were all pretty faithful to the Sea Mother, and now you've got a nice selection of mediocre healers. They don't know any offensive magic yet, though!

Brokagh and Bearbreath haven't gotten anywhere yet, but you see fish dudes doing martial arts practice and it sorta pumped up your spirits and you were tempted to join in, but were too embarassed and passed on it. The ones Bearbreath were with just sort of sit around talking about wussy stuff.

This slow going pace continues for maybe a week before you run into someone else out here. With as big of a party as you have, you're surprised it took this long.

On one side there are a group of large humanoids that look sort of like the Underworld Empire's pit ogres, but redder, slimmer, and with horns that glow. They're spitting fire and using huge clubs as they fight what appears to be a small group of giant tree people. They have pure white bark, and there are only about three of them compared to the ten or so ogres. But they're holding their own. The fire seems to be pretty effective against the treemen, but they are smashing their way through the group of ogres pretty well.

>Try to save the tree mans! They're pretty.
>You wish you could spit fire. Those ogres can spit fire. They must be really neat.

You need Nothing my Choppa Cannot Chop and Grouchiness of the Terrapin to unlock Sword Saint. We already have the former and the latter needs Bite of the Snapping Turtle.

You're chewing on some food as you watch the fight, because it is pretty cool. The tree guys have, like, three or five arms and are smashing dudes into the ground and slapping others away, but the ogres keep shooting out blasts of fire.

"Hey, Shax, I don't really like this," Sitri says, her four man band in tow. The bassist is wearing some kind of floppy hat. You heard the guitarist is looking for some shades, but you really don't think there are any glasses that will fit a kuo-toa face...

"Oh? Why not? It's a neat looking fight. Don't get to see five armed dudes smashin' big red guys who shoot fire every day." You point at a particularly neat bodyslam, twist, elbow drop thing a tree man did. Radical!

"Yeah, you have a fair point, but it doesn't seem particularly fair. Fire? Against tree people? C'mon. I feel bad for the rootkin." You don't. You just saw one twist an ogre's head off with one arm while holding two ogres against the ground. But then one of the guys goes up in flame, and you begin to see her point.

"Alright, alright. Let's save 'em boys!" You wave your sword forward as you start your charge. Before too long, you're crashing into the thick of the ogres. The rootkin seem surprised at your appearance, but spare no time to talk as you both make quick work of the now pincer'd oni. It doesn't take long for you to finish them all off.

When all is said and done, there are two tree guys left after the one got turned into kindling. "Heya, I'm Shax Bonemurder! How are you doing today, uhh," You address the satyxis from the side of your mouth, "What'd you call them again, Sitri?"

"Rootkin. Typically from some of the deeper, more ancient forests. These look like Pearlbark Rootkin, known for their ceaseless defense of their home woods and beautiful appearance. What they're doing out here, I dunno." Maybe being a wandering bard teaches you a ton of stuff, but she always seems to know things.

"Okay! Mr. Pearback, it is nice to meet you!" You are met with a horrifying shriek and what sounds like the snapping of wood. Oh good lord

Bearbreath clears his throat. "Let me, ah, interpret. He says 'thank you for assisting us horrible fire bringer chaos minion,' which is less of an insult than it sounds."

That was an insult? "I've been called worse. Anyway, what are you up to? Can I help?"

Via your druid friend, the white tree responds, "We are fleeing the destruction of our forest caused by these foolish expansionist large dwarf fat elves who cut us to pieces for our homes. We are stranded without protection and have no where to spread our roots. Will you provide us this shelter?"

You are part of an expansionist army that is currently burning down a forest, buuuuuut, whatever! More friends! "Sure, Mr. Pearbark! Welcome aboard!"

Great! Two more bruisers for the raid! They might even know some magic! Bearbreath is unclear about that, saying something about 'spell-like abilities'. Sounds like magic to you.
>>
But seriously, you've been on the road forever. It is time to go to camp! You march double time to get there. Along the way Sitri talks about how excited she is to see a genuine military camp! You think she might be getting her hopes up too high. Your place was nowhere near as organized as the... main force? Whoa! There is the black dragon's banner planted outside your ruins as you approach. Isn't that a little flashy? Kinda ruins the whole point, doesn't it?

The camp is practically unrecognizable as well, with the formerly slapdash tents arrayed neatly, and the ruins being repaired in several places.

"Sis has really outdone herself this time," Dorle mutters.

"Just be glad she wasn't strong arming us into cleaning the place up," Mani grumbles.

The sound of someone clearing their throat can be heard from the side, "I'm glad you two hold my abilities of organization in such HIGH esteem, but it wasn't my doing this time." Milda cuffs them both in the head, "Nice to see you back safe and sound Shax, I would have been worried except the Ambassador assured us you were alive." Well that's a pretty scary statement. "I see you've made a lot of new friends." Milda then introduces herself to each individual new recruit. What dedication!

There are a ton of kobolds in the camp now, scurrying all over the place. They all seem to be holding some sort of maintenance implement, and are doing various tasks everywhere. They make your troops look downright lazy. You walk into the main chambers and are greeted with a thoroughly majestic woman. A dark elf with incredibly long white hair, unblemished skin, and wearing little more than a comfy looking pink sweater. She has two large black wings on her back.

"Hello, Shax, my name is Zenme, Dark Dragon Disciple, and Ambassador to her Malevolence, the Breath of Night, Terror of the Depths, and Scourge of Light, Nevith the Grumpy." You suppress a snicker with all your willpower. The grumpy? The dark elven woman gives you a brilliant smile of pearly white teeth. She has light pink framed glasses that she pushes up that frame her violet eyes. "I don't need to be a mindreader to know what you're thinking. It is a title she deserves, I assure you."

You stare at her thighs. Those are some big thighs. You look over at the boys. They are all also staring at her thighs and also other parts of her body. That low neck sweater shows her collarbones, for goodness sake. You walk up to her and whisper loudly, "Hey, could you maybe, I dunno, put on a little more clothing? I don't know how little you need to wear for those totally sweet wings to poke out, but Allonces is bad enough, and I don't want the boys to be all wide eyed all the time. Makes it hard to lead, you know?" You glance around conspiratorily before heading back to the boys. The ambassador's expression is unreadble, but definitely amused.

You clear your throat. This is no time to wimp out. It's your day to shine. You gotta make a good impression! "Hey! I'm Shanx!" The boys all turn to look at you. Your face turns bright red. Not good. Let's just pretend nothing happened. Gotta land on your feet, Shax! Keep things moving! "Um, uh. Raid! Leader! Right! And I the mortal blade of the Sea Mother! Winner of fire lelemental's trial that toasted Allonces. A demilich's silver trophy! I have a big sword and people call me The Boss!" You mutter under your breath, "Which is a better title than the grumpy, anyway." You can't tell if she is laughing at you, so you decide to laugh with her. That way you know for sure you're laughing with her.

"A pleasure to meet you, I'm sure. We have things we need to discuss. Do you have and adjutants and assistants? They'll want to be here for the war council. The Manderlin Campaign is about to begin, and Nevith has plans for you." You don't like the sound of that. You were hoping your job was done, actually.

>Who would you say is your council? Name up to three people to be on it!

You know sometimes I get the impression Shax has a thing for female dark elves.

That was classic spaghetti.

Uh. Milda, Whoop...I dunno, maybe Sitri or Bearbreath? Neither really have a big enough place in the army for it, but I can't think of anyone that aren't covered by the first two really. I'll go with Sitri.

I think it is more of two generals of the same army rather than two armys working together.

most factions like of the army are just part of the invasion, not really overly to one of them in particular.

Not to say they don't each have their followers.

Oversized Heart Quest
You play as a naiive loli that acts big and cutes people up. You have fun adventures roaming the Children's Hospital with you're motley crew of sick, fun-loving kids.

The QM rolls hidden dice when you have too much fun.
>>
In short Allonces nust realise her destiny and becime a magical girl mahou shojo
>>
You put your hand on your chin and start thinking. Who in your army is smart and responsible? Not you, and also not most of them. Wow. Maybe you get why you're the boss now. Well, there is Milda, though she is a stick in the mud. Whoop is a given, though he is a creepy fish man. Who else? Allonces? You immediately discard that idea. Maybe she should show up to a 'let's flaunt our good looks council' with Zenma, but she has no place on a war council. Sitri? You hardly know her, and while she seems like a decent enough warrior, she probably cares more about her personal quest than making strategic decisions. That leaves Bearbreath? He probably doesn't want to fool with all this, but he seems level headed and reliable enough. Fine! The old gnoll can join on up!

You make sure that they get in place, and the rest of the boys are shooed out of the main fort as you sit down at a giant wooden table that was definitely not here when last you were at your base. "So these are who you pick? Intersting. None of them represent a major contributor to campaign, you know?"

You cross your arms, "They represent me and I'm part of the campaign, right? So they can stay."

The glasses girl gives a throaty laugh, "Ufufu, of course. The main issue here is how to proceed in the invasion of the capital of Manderlay. From your efforts and reports, it seems a kingdom beset on all sides. Your raiding work has spread out their army, and they'll continue looking for your small band. Now, in the Matriarch's opinion, is the best time to strike with a genuinely large force. Before they consolidate their defenses."
>>
>>31164304
Hnnnnnnngggg
>>
You keep quiet. Beyto said that the best way to seem smart in a conversation like this is to just make a mean face and stay silent while smart people talked. You give your best glower. The glasses lady continues, "My master and I disagree. We have a larger view of things. And in it is where you come in. You've displayed a competence at commanding that frankly beggars belief. However, you're unrefined at best. My master sees much potential in you, which is why she comes with this offer: Leave the front lines and the raiding to your minions. See how they handle and develop without you for a bit." What! She wants you to stop being the boss? "My master wants to train you, enhance your abilities. She wants to send you on a quest to the Graveland Continent of Yselath. There you can find what she says is your destiny."

Uh, that place doesn't sound friendly at all, "Whattabout the campaign? Isn't it more important for me to be here with my group and smash up the adventurers? I haven't even taken out that many of them, and they're sure to defend the capital."

"And that is precisely why you need to train. Your troops, while admirable, don't have the potential you do. You can rise above the cattle and become a true force to be reckoned with. Don't you understand? It isn't just about the Plains of Manderlay. It is about what lies beyond. About who can hold the reins of an empire." Nope you don't understand that one bit.

What do you do?

TRAINING MONTAGE

Whoop, Milda and Bearbreath can take temporary command. I trust them to make sure people stay alive as much as possible.
>>
>>31164518
I agree, but at the same time I feel that Shax's obliviousness is the only thing holding the current direction of the quest together.

She's a nice girl and if she was less dumb and gobliny she'd start questioning why she's on the bad guy's side. As it is she's mostly here because being evil raiders is just what a goblin is to her.
>>
>>31164518
On the contrary, I find it endearing

Goblin logic is hilarious

>>31164583

Yeah, that was just a general comment, not towards your list.

My priorities are probably along the lines of Sitri > Whoop > Allonces > Bearbreath, Milda definitely stays. Whoop would be equal with Sitri except there's actually a reason to leave him since he'd have some commanding presence and could lead the fish-men, while Sitri doesn't really DO anything leadership-related at the moment and wouldn't be missed.

This is a bit dangerous, you look at your council and Milda speaks first, "You should... go. You've made too much of an impression to escape political notice. An ally like a dragon might just be what you need at the higher ranks of this campaign."

Whoop stares at you, "What muddied waters you travel in, the Sea Mother does not know. The course is yours alone to decide, Honored One."

Bearbreath yawns, "See, this is why I don't like hanging out with people. One minute it is all head pats, next minute you're drug into a powerstruggle between an ancient Drow Matriarch and a powerful Black Dragon and her sorcerous minions. Best accept her offer, girl, you don't want to be on a tyrant's bad side."

Doesn't look like you have much of a choice. You hate being put in a position like this!

"Fine, but how long is it going to take? I can't leave the raid alone for too long or the whole thing will fall apart without me." You cross your arms.

The dark elf woman flashes her brilliant smile again, "Excellent. It should only take a month or two at the most. It is just a simple quest. I got here a few days after you left on the last expedition and you spent almost that long just, as far as I can tell, wandering about on the plains. Finding tree people and fishmen, apparently. Which ties into the thing-" She talks about destiny potential and stuff like that for, according to your watch, six minutes that feel like eternity. She claps her hands and says, "Now, what shall you pack! I'll be sure to manage the camp while you're away so don't you worry about one thing."

You sorta want someone to keep an eye on this conniving vixen. She thinks that just because she has a nice body she can order everyone around. This is why you don't like women like this! But you can bring along five other people.

Who do you want?
>>
>>31164830
In the past few threads the anons have progressively gotten less logical and more "shoe sizes!"
>>
>>31164836
Not really. Only a couple people on that list takes precedence over her, out of like a dozen people.
>>
>>31164861

I've tried to reduce the lolsorandum to irrelevance. I thought shoe sizes was silly. But some anons wanted it, so I put it in, but in such a way that it didn't matter at all. They probably got a laugh, and it didn't dramatically change the story. Everyone wins!

Whenever a decision matters, we DO try to make choices that both make sense and seem interesting, but being 100% serious all the time is just missing the entire point of telling a story. Who cares if we 'win' in the end, when everything in between beginning and conclusion is mere bland efficiency?

Not him, but he's just trying to make a point. Quests, or really any collective thing, changes in tone over time. Typically it goes to the side of less serious, which don't get me wrong, can be fine.

If it goes unchecked, however, you lose what made the story or topic appealing in the first place and the community becomes insular and cancerous like those generals on /vg/. People come for the people, essentially.

It's a good thing that somebody speaks up to put it in perspective. It doesn't matter whether he's right or wrong. There's no good way to go about it, though. No matter what, the guy that speaks up will look like a jerk to others.

Go easy on him, he's just expressing concern.
That's what I think, at least.

AVAILABLE SKILLS:

Bite of the Snapping Turtle - From the Wary Tortoise stance, you can change your defensive spin into a deadly poke! For some reason it hits really hard, but you're not sure why.

Tokka Form! - While in the Wary Tortoise Stance, you can lash out with one arm. You won't be able to make a precise strike, but you might be able to land some blows in a crowded environment!

Improved Improvised Dual Wield - Sometimes when you're hackin' and whackin' you find yourself outgunned. In those situations, it is handy to pick something up and get twice the smackin' for your trouble! You're really good at incorporating every day blunt objects in your attack patterns now.

Rahzar's Wild Ride - Never stop moving! With Rahzar's Wild Ride, you will be able to move in a controlled manner while attacking everything around you! No more shaking about uncontrollably. On top of this, you have heightened defensive reflexes! The downside is you get really exhausted doing this, and you can't do it for very long.

Struggle of the Sea Turtle - Sea Turtle babies fight for their lives the moment they are born! The trials of these adorable reptiles are something you can sympathize with. You get a large increase in general toughness!

>>
>>31165553

I hate the count this, but we needed a tie breaker. Didn't know there was a tie before I counted it up. Sorry! Like a Stray Cat wins.

Bite the Hand that Feeds You - Just because you're a good girl doesn't mean you like to get told what to do all the time! You have a little more flexible in avoiding your superior's orders, and gain a diplomacy bonus (and attack bonus, if it comes to that) against people from your own faction!

If you Feed Them - You like being fed. It is one of many traits you share with wild animals, and you know how to use food as a diplomatic tool! Everyone has an increase in moral, and you can tame wild animals easier!

Alright, now vote on the My Sword is Fight point! Go gogogog.

You've learned Bite of the Snapping Turtle. You're an offensive powerhouse, now! Time to smash things to bits on the go!

You've unlocked:

Enchantment of the Spotted Turtle - You've always thought spotted turtles were pretty. And now you have a grace to match their beauty! While spinning or using any other turtle maneuver and attack, you can no longer be knocked off balance and gain greater control over the direction!

Grouchiness of the Terrapin - Sometimes you get super cranky, and that is okay. Some turtles live for hundreds of years, and they probably get cranky, too! With this, while you are in Wary Tortoise stance or any turtle move, you automatically execute a deadly counter attack when someone tries to hurt you!

Softshell Soft Belly - You know for a fact that softshell turtles have soft, cute bellies. And while your own stomach is soft and also cuter than any of those flabby "beautiful women" those boys go on about, the lesson here is this: Everyone has their own metaphysical "soft belly"! And you know just where to find it! Turtle Attacks and attacks while in a turtle stance will aim and strike weakpoints without fail!

Alright! OVERSIZED WEAPON QUEST ACT TWO BEGINS!

You are Shax Bonemurder, and you don't know what the heck you're doing here! You are back in the main encampment of the Imperial Invasion Effort, and are waiting in a giant chamber before the Nevith's strategy room. There are some guards here, a receptionist, and your adventuring companions.

You've been kicking your feet while relaxing into this super cushioned chair for what felt like an hour (it was ten minutes) when you were bored enough to launch yourself out of the chair. Bearbreath is snoring in his, Fetidclaw is reading a book, and Sitri is idly trying out tunes on her pipe and writing down notes. Must be composting or whatever it is she does. When you get up, Allonces nervously gets up and follows you.

"Shax!" She whispers, "I volunteered to go on an adventure with you, but I didn't know we'd be going into the heart of the Dark Elf Empire! You cannot leave me alone here!" The guards are giving her a flat stare as she hisses at you. She makes a face at them. "Seriously, I feel like they're going to kill me at any second!"

"Don't be a baby, you baby. They ain't gonna kill members of my raid while they're busy trying to make me like them. Unless killing a member of my raid would make me like them..." You give Allonces a wicked grin.

She gives a playful slap on your shoulder and sniffs, "Hmph, don't even joke about that. Poor Alfonse would be lost without me, and I can't even think about how brutish the boys back in camp would be without my calming presence." Yeah, you don't think she is calming them down any. Still, you keep heading towards the receptionist.

It's a youngish looking male dark elf in some sheerish gauzy clothing. He has a page boy haircut and flat rectangular glasses. Aren't elves supposed to have good eyesight? Why do so many of them wear glasses?

"Oooh, he's cute," Allonces hisses at you, apparently forgetting her fear of her dark kin near instantly.

You get one hand on your hips in your customary greeting stance. "Hey, I'm Shax Bo-" Allonces gets in front of you and leans on the counter, cradling her head in her hands as she looks down at the elf.

"And I'm Allonces, her loyal companion. Say, how long you been working here?" She gives an easy grin and flutters her long eyelashes in a practiced way. Y-you're not taking notes!
>>
The elf gives her a bored look and responds near monotone. "I've been in service to her terrible majesty for approximately fifteen years. As her loyal servant I've weathered her many moods and whims."

Allonces makes an 'o' with her mouth and lets out an appreciative sound, "Musta been hard on you, right? Don't you prefer an easier going lady?" You don't think Allonces qualifies as low maintenance. "What's she like anyway?"

"Her majesty is capricious at best, so I'd watch your attitude with her if I were you. She has earned her titles. All of them. Especially that last one. The one I wouldn't mention if I were you." The boyish elf's voice gets more stern with each sentence.

"You mean The Gru-"

He stands up and clamps a hand over Allonces' mouth. "Dooooo not! Do not! She likes it when people use that title to scare strangers, but saying it near her is a bad idea. She has the ears of a hawk!"

Allonces seems to take him seriously, but you have a hard time letting that last phrase slide. Hawks... aren't known for their hearing, right? You'd mention something, but get distracted by Allonces' now flourescent red face. What's got her blushing so hard?

"Anyways, now that you've shut stupid Allonces up, what I was gonna ask is how much longer is this going to take? We've been here forever! I thought we arrived on time."

The doors to the chamber swing open and you hear a booming voice call out. "Why, come right on in Shax, I've been waiting a while to meet you."

>Stride in confidently, and introduce yourself, leaving your companions behind! She wants to see you, not all your friends. Allonces will tag along anyway, probably.

Have another cute elf while we wait!
>>
>>31166572
Hero, you must gather your party before venturing forth!
>>
You kick Bearbreath in his shins, and he snaps awake. You jerk your head at the door. Licks her pen and keeps writing on a piece of paper as she stands up, focused on her composition book until you clear your throat, after which she sheepishly puts it up. Fetidclaw puts down his book, which you're pretty sure is one of the witch boy's perverted ones, and stretches before coming along. You give Allonces a withering glare and she puts her hands up in surrender before going back to touching her lips. Brokagh wasn't here in the first place, as he said he was going drinking with some of his friends while you were in camp. What a bum.

With your possee in tow, you walk into a huge room with immaculate metal furniture that all looks very impressive and very uncomfortable. You hope you don't have to sit in any of it.

"Ah, Shax, take a seat," A large woman waves at the furniture in front of you. She has a serpant draped across her shoulders, prominent horns, and tiny little wings on her back that you assume are decorative more than anything else. She radiates power, and has shimmering golden hair and pale skin all wrapped up in a deep red and purple dress.

You were told it was best to introduce yourself before sitting down, so you sharply jab Sitri with your elbow. Sitri jumps a bit and shoots you a sharp look, and in her sing song voice she calls out, "Eh? Oh! I present to you Shax Bonemurder, Raid Leader! Terror of the Manderlay Plains, Elemental Champion, and Survivor of the Demilich's tournament! Her blade is mighty, and the loyalty of her servants is eternal!" Woah, that sounds way better.
>>
The dragon lady lets out a low laugh, "Very nice, you may be seated then, Terror of the Manderlay Plains," She holds a fan in front of her mouth, and probably laughs some more. "We have business to discuss. I'm sure dear Zenma has told you that I have great plans for you?"

"Yep!" That's all there is to say on that subject, probably.

"...Good?" She is clearly trying her best to not get caught up in your pace. You're not sure she is succeeding. "The continent of Yselathe is quite a deadly morass of vying undead kingdoms and wicked lizardmen. Thankfully they are content to stew in their own declining lands and leave the rest of the world well enough alone. However, several of my dracomaguses are reporting a troubling ritual underway at the heart of the Eternal Empire. One that cannot take place without a certain dagger I myself currently posses. I ascertained its existence in my collection just a few hours ago, and yet the ritual persists. I want you to go to this continent, stop the ritual, and retrieve whatever they were using to carry it out. Do this and you shall be rewarded with three artifacts from my personal collection of your choosing."

Wow! You don't know what her collection is, though.

>What questions do you have for her? Why she employs young boyish dark elves and a voluptuous dragon disciple babe aren't ones you can ask.

This is a lotta stuff at once, but perhaps because you're well fed and bored you paid attention. "Um, first! What is a dracomagus?"

"Sorcerers granted a small amount of my power. This binds them to me and ensures their loyalty in exchange for greater powers. Zenma is the head of these magi." You look at Nevith's thighs. There is a conspiracy here.

"Why's their thingy so important?"

"The ritual is not important. It is just some god appeasing foolishness, but it is elaborate and requires a great deal of power. Only very specific magical focuses can be used for it, and if they obtained something on par with that dagger, then enemies of the Underworld Alliance could use it to great effect. That is my main concern. Oh, and obtaining it for myself, of course."

"So am I fighting dead guys and lizardmen? We got any friends over there?"

"The kingdom conducting the ritual in particular is a nation of still living people ruled by the undead ancestors and kings they worship. There are no allies on that continent, no, but there are plenty of neutral nations. In particular, Lanketh and Pythilitus are two nations actively opposing Utalaga, the nation conducting this ritual. You may be able to work with them."

"What kinda artifacts do I have to choose from."

"The majority of items in my possession are enchanted weapons, but you might be more interested in my extensive collection of ensorcelled jewelry." She's right about that.

The dragon queen clears her throat. "Now, you have a few approaches to this continent. A ship will be leaving from an underground cave and can take you to one of three ports: A small port in Lanketh, a country ruled by demons and filled with undead slaves, Pythilitus, the land of the saurian kings and their eternal summer, or touch down in the wastes of Agryppita, filled with bandits and marauders."

That explains everything.
>>
>>31167655
None of them really stand out but i gotta say the Demons ans Undead just because they sound cooler than lizards or bandits.
>>
>>31167895
oh. Ah well, I think we're going for bandits?
>>
I wonder can they give us some better armor or...bigger pauldrons. We need to show how boss we are with huge shoulderguards.
>>
>>31167925
No, demons won.
>>
>>31167935
Full plate or go home. Minus the helmet for obvious reasons.
>>
Depending on how much longer this runs, we may end up needing a new thread to finish things off. We're at page 9 now.
>>
>we didn't pick mystery box that is bandits.
I am surprise. I guess this mystery box too subtle so people didn't even realized it was one.
>>
>>31167974
I would say a goblin sized set of plate armor with some sort of anti weight enchantment would be perfect for us.
>>
>>31168033
How is that a mystery box?
>>
>>31168046
>Not fighting in strength and protection enchanted silks instead
>>
>>31168046
agreed
>>
>>31168046
Unless Sword Saint is based on the PF archetype. Which would be terrible.
>>
>>31168093
Plate armor looks much more boss like
>>
>>31168093
>not getting a pair of copper arms so we can fight with two giant weapons
>>
>>31168131
Never heard of it but it sounds stupid already
>>
>>31168156
we have monkey grip
we can already do that
>>
"Um, a ship for Lanketh, then!" Lizards are cool and also cute, but if you want to take on a country, allying with one filled with demons and undead is probably your best bet. "Do we get a guide or anything for when I'm there, or am I on my own?"

Navith shields her face with a fan once more, and narrows her eyes, "Think of it as a test. Through hardship I hope to see you grow as a leader and a warrior, Shax. I expect great things from you. The ship will leave in two days. You have this time to prepare. Now, you're dismissed." You take this as a cue to thankfully get out of these awful chairs and head out.

Allonces turns and looks at you, "She didn't seem nearly as bad as I thought she'd be." Everyone backs away from her.

The receptionist clears his throat, "Her majesty was in a good mood today. She, uh, likes cute young people." He nods at you and Sitri. You pretend to not notice. Sitri scowls a bit. Allonces scowls more.

That's the end of the thread. wow, page 9 autosage?! It must be my fault for making you guys make so many metagamey decisions! I'm sorry! Thank you so much for playing. I hope you had fun today, as it was a really fun thread for me! You guys are all great and I love the discussion that goes on even if it can get a little heated. You're still super cool guys!

I have a special thread planned Tuesday evening, so let's hope I can do it! No guarantees, though. I'll announce on twitter if it is happening!

>>31167914

My setting was just a Forgotten Realms clone, but I'm starting to throw things I like into it, like dominions, fantasycraft, among others.

Thank you all so much again for playing! Thank you for reading, and thank you for your patience as I learn more about QMing every thread! You guys are so wonderful and I hope I see you next time.

I would say it is more indicative of you running a good quest that is starting to get the attention it deserves. Here's to hoping people don't shit it up!

Good run Chief, just gonna say this is one of my favorite quests on the board.

They always do. That's what people do.
Here is to hoping this can struggle through it.
>>
>>31168200
It was fun, as always. Thanks for the thread.
>>
>>31168200
