>Previously, on Avatar Quest.....

A young waterbender living in the second largest city in the Southern Kingdom, you explored the woods near your city, and spent some time at a large lake. You practiced your waterbending, and even figured out how to create large waves! Unfortunately, your activities attracted a vicious creature known as a Crocodile Wolf. You tried to use your bending to battle the creature, but your panicked state made your powers useless. The creature nearly ripped your arm off, but you managed to escape its grip and used your bending to propel yourself deep into the lake, where the creature did not follow. After making it home and spending a day recovering from your injuries, you decided to show your mother your new bending powers. She was very impressed, and told you how very few people have shown such a mastery over water. You asked her to tell you about the Avatars, and she told you the tales of Avatar Wan and Avatar Gonyo. Afterwards, she had to return to her post, and you went exploring. You found a canyon, but decided to explore a dark cave instead. There, you encountered the Crocodile Wolf, and killed it with a tree branch. Returning home, your parents told you how proud they were, and you prepared to use the dead beast to make a coat, and a trophy to mount on your wall.

any way we could get MC to try bending something besides water? you know just in case... you know everyone's tried to use the force or psychic whatever so it would make sense for a character to just randomly try bending something for no reason
>>
>Rules
Choices are made by voting on options over ten minute intervals. Some options are actions that require a dice roll. Dice rolls are not done until an option has one so as to prevent metagaming. Most rolls require 2 out of the first three to be winning rolls. A 4 or below in the first 3 causes whatever you are attempting to go rather poorly, unless a roll of 96 or higher comes first. A roll of 96 or higher in the first 5 rolls causes whatever you are attempting to go extremely well unless a roll of 4 or below happens before it (unless the 4 or below was the 4th roll, in which case it doesn't count).

All votes are final, if you regret voting for something, think more before you vote in the future.

Keep waifu bullshit to a minimum

No writeins unless explicitly stated
>>
It has been three days since your victory over the ferocious Crocodile Wolf. Word spreads quickly in your city, and people have been talking about you quite a bit. As planned, you turned the fur of the creature into a coat which is very warm and comfortable. And, you now have an impressive trophy mounted on your wall; the head of the crocodile wolf.

It's early in the day, and both your parents are working. Your dad has gone on a boat with four other men to catch fish, and your mother has gone to the tower where most of the soldiers in the city are stationed. The day is yours. Standing outside of your home, you try to decide what to do with your day. You could go explore the woods, as you so often do. You could go to the shopping district, or visit your mother at the tower. You could simply relax today.

Shouting around the corner draws your attention. You could go investigate.

How can you not investigate the noise? Running around the corner, you find that a small crowd has gathered in a circle around two large men, who are shouting and shoving one another. One of them has a bald head and a scraggly black beard, while the other has scruffy brown hair. You can't see his face because his back is to you, but you can certainly hear his voice just fine.

"I told you to watch your mouth!" he yells at the bald man.

"And I told you to piss off!" the bald man retorted. "I'm getting real tired of you."

"Then why don't you do something about it?" the man with brown hair challenges.

The bald man pulls out a dagger. "With pleasure."

He runs at the brown haired man and stabs at him repeatedly, but the brown haired man dodges every attack.

"Hold still, dammnit!" the bald man shouts as he continues to stab wildly.

"If you insist," the brown haired man replies, stopping his movements.

The bald man laughs and stabs right at the other man's chest. "Thanks, chump!"

The brown haired man grabs the other man by the wrist, stopping his dagger just before it reaches him. "You're welcome."

The brown haired man then proceeds to bring the bald man's arm down hard over his knee. You hear a sickening crack, and the bald man screams, dropping his dagger. The brown haired man kicks him in the face, and he falls backwards, his head slamming against the ground.

"Now, anybody else want to pick a fight with me? I'll happily break a few more arms!" the brown haired man declares.

You really know nothing about the situation you just walked into, so you don't speak up to challenge the man. However, you're still curious about what happened to cause that violent exchange between the two men. You look for someone in the crowd to ask what happened, and see a young woman with shoulder length black hair standing not far away. You approach her and ask what happened.

She turns her attention away from the fight, her brown eyes focusing on you, now. "The bald buffoon over there apparently had too much to drink and started shouting insults at that other guy. The other guy took exception to that, and, well, I'm sure you saw what happened."

"Listen up!" the brown haired man shouts. He has turned to face your direction, giving you your first clear look at his face. He has a brown beard and mustache to match the hair on his head, and a pair of dark green eyes."My name is Chin-Hew. Remember it well. Me and my friends are calling the shots around here now. Stay out of our way, do what we tell you, and we'll get along fine. If you give us trouble, on the other hand...."

He turns to the bald man, who is struggling to his feet. With his good hand, the bald man picks his dagger back up. He glares hatefully at Chin-Hew, and yells, running right at him. Chin-Hew shakes his head and delivers a powerful punch to the bald man's face. You hear a crunching sound as the man is knocked onto his back once again. Chin-Hew looks around.

"Well, you get the idea," he finishes.

You can't help yourself, you yell to him that the soldiers won't let he and his friends keep this up.

All eyes turn to you, including Chin-Hew's. A smirk spreads across his face, and he throws his head back, laughing at you. "It figures a kid would be the first one to open his mouth. The soldiers can't do a damn thing to stop us. You seriously overestimate those people. Sure, they might have been good fighters once, but they've gone soft since the war ended. I'd have an easier time crushing one of those armor-clad assholes than I did with that runt," he tells you, gesturing to the bald man on the ground. "Of course, if they feel like trying to stop us, I'd be more than happy to break their arms, too."

You don't say anything more, and instead scan the area with your eyes, trying to find a way to attack Chin-Hew discreetly. You spot a puddle not far from where the bald man lies. You could bend the water, but you're not really sure how exactly you could use it to attack him. You could try getting the bald man's dagger, perhaps you'll use it better than he did. You wish you were a firebender right about now; you could burn that smug grin off his face.

He seems to be taking your silence as submission; he believes that he has you sufficiently scared. Some of the others in the crowd, including the young woman, stare at you, seeing what you'll do next.

What will you do next? Is it time to be a hero? Or should you let it go for now and maybe do something about it at another time?

You stick with what you know best; waterbending. Extending your hands towards the puddle, you point your fingers to the ground and slowly raise them, pulling your right hand back and spinning your wrist, the water takes shape. This time, it is not a wave, but a shape that sort of resembles a serpent. Those around you stare, confused about what you are doing, while others gasp as they watch the water slowly float behind Chin-Hew, who is staring at you, perplexed.

With a quick motion of your hands, the water whip cracks him in the back of the head. His eyes go wide, then close as he falls face-first onto the ground, knocked out cold.

There is absolute silence as everyone tries to process what exactly they have just seen. The silence hands in the air for several more seconds before the assembled crowd bursts into thunderous applause. They clap and cheer for you, and those nearby pat you on the back. That is, until, two people break from the crowd and walk over to Chin-Hew, wisely making sure their backs to the puddle in case you decide to make another of those whips.

One of them is a man of average build with black hair and brown eyes holding a large wooden club. He looks remarkably similar to the woman you talked to a few moments ago, and, looking over, you see a look of shock on her face.

The other person is a girl about your age with brown hair that stops about an inch above her shoulders. Her brown eyes focus on you, and she gives you a predatory grin as she draws a pair of daggers from her belt.

"Big mistake, kid," the man says.

You took down Chin-Hew with one strike; these chumps should have no chance against your water whip. You extend your hands once again, raising the water and weaving your hands to change it to the shape you require for your whip. The girl, who was still facing the puddle, quickly steps away from the whip, while her companion, who is still facing you, remains unaware. The girl shouts for him to look out, and her turns just in time to receive a water whip to the face.

The strike knocks him flat on his back, and he drops the club, bringing his hands to his face. You've gotten him out of the fight for at least a few seconds. The girl quickly attacks, hurling one of her knives with frightening precision right at you. You duck just in the knick of time, the knife whizzing right above your head and clattering to the ground several feet behind you.

You extend your hands towards the puddle. The crowd around you scatters, fleeing from the knife-throwing girl. This gives her a much better chance of hitting you with her knives. You dodge the first one she throws, barely, and hastily attempt to shape the water into the right form for your attack. The girl throws another knife, and this time, you fail to dodge.

It strikes you in the shoulder, stabbing deep into your flesh. The pain causes you to lose your focus, and the water to fall back into the puddle with a splash. The man has gotten back to his feet, and approaches you with his club. The girl grabs another pair of knives from her belt, and takes aim.

Winning this fight seems unlikely now, and running away has a similarly low chance of working since they can probably just chase you down. You quickly look for alternate escape routes. You could try jumping to one of the roofs on the nearby building, but you quickly dismiss the idea as crazy. Nobody could make a jump like that. Well, nobody except maybe an airbender. No, that won't work, you need to do something now, though.

These fucking roll requirements are way too high.
>>
>>31066659
Yeah. It's a statistical anomaly to even get one in range
But that's because we have zero training, and zero practice. And these guys have both

Honestly, I don't know why we didn't cut our losses when we saw the 2v1

Seeing no alternative, you rush at the approaching man. A knife shoots past your head, and the man laughs as you approach, swinging his club. You duck under his swing, only to be kneed in the face and knocked onto your back. He stomps on your chest, holding you down as the girl approaches you, smirking down at you.

"What should we do with him?" she asks.

"Let me bash his brains in," he replies, raising the club.

"No, too simple, too boring," she tells him, bending towards you, running her dagger along your right cheek, giving you a deep cut. "I say we make things nice and slow. I can cut him to pieces bit by bit, and you can smash what's left."

He shrugs. "Fine, but don't you think Chin-Hew will want a chance at him?"

She chuckles. "It's what he gets for sleeping on the job. Besides, we can just give him the head as a trophy."

He grins sadistically. "Sounds good to me."

"Hey, assholes!" a voice behind them shouts.

The pair turn and receive fists to the face, falling on their backs next to you. Your mother towers above you, glowering down at your attackers. She is dressed in her full armor, and has her sword sheathed at her side. Her expression darkens as she sees the cut on your face.

"Alright, bitch," she says to the girl. "You die first!"

As your mom draws her sword, the girl throws a knife. Your mom leans to the side, avoiding the knife, but it distracts her long enough for the girl to roll backwards and get into a crouching position, standing and grabbing another knife. Her friend rolls sideways away from you, also getting to his feet.

>A. Try to water whip the man, he's the closest one to both you and the puddle. Look out for knives! (Two rolls of 40 or more)

Extending your hands, you raise the water from the puddle. Having done this twice already, you find it much easier to create a waterwhip this time. You shape the water quickly and move it behind your opponent, cracking him on the back of the head just like you did Chin-Hew. Just like Chin-Hew, this man is knocked out cold with this single strike, falling to the ground and releasing his club, which rolls away from him. When you're sure that he won't be getting up, you turn to see how your mom is doing.

Her fight with the girl seems to have reached a stalemate. Your mother easily dodges all of the knives thrown at her, but when she gets in close, she has a much more difficult job doing so, and is forced to put more distance between herself and her opponent to avoid being hit. The girl finally finds herself out of knives, and your mother charges, slicing horizontally at the girl's neck. The girl ducks, coming back up with an uppercut that causes your mom to stagger backwards, and following it with a kick that knocks her flat on her back, making her lose her grip on the sword. Fear grips you as the girl looks at the sword. But, she then looks at you, and her fallen friend, and smiles. She mouths something to you, gives you a wink, and turns, running off at an impressive speed.

With the immediate danger having passed, you take a moment to look around. Chin-Hew and his buddy with the club are both still unconscious, as is the bald man Chin-Hew fought with earlier. Most of the crowd has fled, but a few people still remain, including the young woman you spoke with earlier. Your mom is back on her feet, and looks pissed as she watches the girl running away. It seems your mom was the only soldier to show up. You're not exactly sure why, but you're glad she came, otherwise you'd probably be dead right about now.

Your mom looks at the two men you defeated with your bending, and smiles, nodding in approval at your handiwork.

You find the girl's behavior odd. She didn't seem upset at having lost or at you defeating her friends. She seemed amused, maybe even pleased. And you're a little nervous about what she mouthed to you before she left.

"Until next time"

>A. Go talk to your mother

You walk over to your mother, who grins and ruffles your hair. "So, you figured out how to use waterbending in a fight. You knocked those two big guys out with water. Water! I thought I'd seen it all, but you get more and more impressive, son. Always finding new ways to make me proud."

She frowns a bit as she looks at your cut cheek. "I wish I'd gotten here sooner, but at least you're alive. Besides, some women find battle scars really attractive. Really, I'm glad you're alright. It's just too bad that girl got away."

>A. It's alright, you'll get her later

>B. She won't get away, you'll go catch her!

Turning away from your mother, you approach the woman you spoke to earlier. She doesn't seem to be much older than you, probably only by about two years. She stares at the man with the club, concern in her features. Her eyes shift to you as you approach. She gives you a look that mixes fear and admiration.

"That was the most incredible waterbending I've ever seen," she tells you. "My brother and Chin-Hew never stood a chance. I'm Yang-Lee. It is nice to meet you."

Will spirits interact with us in future?
Should we go and learn bending from dragons, moles, moon and bisons?
>>
>>31068462
Possibly
In the time of The Last Airbender, everyone believes them to be the ones who first taught humanity bending. But, in your time, nobody knows what a badger-mole or sky-bison is yet
>>
>>31068501
Okay guys we have to watch moon every night from now on and search for dragons all we need is reason for it
>>
>>31068529
Watching the moon is easy, that's why there have been a few waterbenders who have actually mastered their bending
>>
>>31068365
can you have us do write in and free style the dialog based on that?

also can I suggest rules?
The avatar can reincarnate you should not be nice about saving you us

Avatar state has a 20 percent chance of activating on hitting 0 hp or losing a limb

Aang could barely waterbend because it didn't flow against his personality. will we have penalties for using other bending arts that we don't favour?
