You are a broken cyborg on a mission to reclaim his stolen parts, and enact revenge on the harvesters who took them.

Last time on Broken Cyborg Quest, we escaped from our captors and made it to the city of Cherol. We kind of killed the contact we were given, but we did find some of his friends. We managed to convince them that we're on their side.

>"Where will they find the cyborgs to harvest?"

"Where are they going to find cyborgs to harvest anyway?" You ask. One of the men chuckles. "There's this bar not far from here called Black Flagon. Lots of those amped up aug addict tough guys like to hang around there and get into drunken brawls. Rolling drunken gearheads probably gives us most of our tech, to be honest." The man says, laughing. You force a weak laugh as well, effectively hiding how badly you want to shove your fist through this guy's face. "Alright, we'd better get going. Give Rich our best." The man says, and the two thugs depart. You lock the door behind them. You walk back over to the dead body behind the counter. "Now, what are we going to do with you..." You wonder aloud. It'll be nightfall soon, meaning you'll have a chance to hide the body soon. Afterwords, you should head to that Black Flagon place.

The dumpster is a horrible idea, no matter what kind of hurry we're in to get to the Flagon. I say we wait until nightfall, put the body in a bag, and take it to the sewers carefully. Then we go to the bar.
>>
>>31058715
Fuck yes this is up! I love it when op keeps his promises. Also, dump him in the sewers.
I assume we don't have finger prints, cause, you know, metal.

Are we using that rolling system again, or are we just doing majority rule?
>>
>>31058715
Hide the body in the sewers. But before we go, we should search around for a list of contacts. See if there are any more people in on this cyborg trafficking business and hopefully find some more cyborg hunting grounds and aug dealers to bust.

You weigh your options. Getting to this Black Flagon place is definitely important. But you can't stop the harvesters if you're jailed for murder, so your utmost priority right now is hiding the body and hiding it well. You peer through the blinds of the window and see that it's sunset, but not yet nighttime. It seems you've got a bit of time to kill before you go hide the body. You continue searching the room for any of Hayward's contacts. You also wouldn't mind finding a trashbag.

After a bit of searching, you come across a stack of business cards bound by rubber bands. There are three business cards in the stack.

"Thomas Lowell - Criminal Defense Attorney"
"Joseph Roth - Mechanic"
"Terrance Kelso"

The first man's job doesn't come at a surprise to you. Of course these guys would need someone to keep them out of hot water. The second guy is a little shocking. You got your leg fixed at that Roth fellow's shop. Could he possibly be involved in black market aug dealing? But this third person... There's no phone number or address listed, and it seems to just be a name written on a scrap of lined paper. You pocket the business cards. Checking the window once more, you find that night has arrived.

...
...
...

With the darkness of the night as your cover, you emerge from the shop with a black trashbag over your shoulders. As you walk along the empty streets, you come across a manhole. You place the body down beside you and lift it open, shoving it off to the side. You see a light shining in the distance, and the sound of footsteps accompanying. Shit. "Hey, what the hell's going on here?"Asks the voice. You can't be sure in the darkness, but this could be a cop.

And make sure to loot through the shop for anything else that might be useful, and to loot this guy's office of stuff. Don't forget that we should make note of any apartment or home he had that we can loot as well.

Also, guns. See if he had any weapons to pawn that we can take.

You blink thrice in quick succession to flip on your night vision. Upon closer inspection, the man is just a regular citizen with a flashlight. He probably came outside to inspect the noise of the manhole being uncovered. Deciding that this wasn't as big of a deal as you thought, you simply grab your bodybag and hop onto the ladder, dragging the manhole partially back to its original position as you do go. You make use of your enhanced strength augments to climb down the ladder while hanging onto your bag. You arrive at the bottom of the sewer, standing along a stone path. Next to you is a river of foul smelling fluid that you're not at all happy to be around.

You aren't all that happy about being down here in the first place, and the possibility that the man up there could have called the police is very real. You heave the body into the river of filth, and is soon washed away by the current, taken far away from you. It'd be dangerous to emerge from the sewer lid you came in through, but you don't know where another one is.

>Search for another: 2

You begin walking through the sewer, your head towards the ceiling searching for a light source peering out through the ceiling. After a walk of about fifteen minutes, you manage to find one. You climb upward, and force the manhole off out as you reach the top. You emerge from the sewer and slide the manhole back where it belongs, then look around to see where you are. You're in an empty back alley, but you don't seem to be far from your original position. You begin searching for this Black Flagon bar. You'll be damned if you let the harvesters claim another victim.

Searching the streets for the bar, you begin to hear a slight ruckus coming from the east. It sounds like a party of some sort. Turning to face the direction of the noise, you see a building that still has all its lights on, and you can see silhouettes moving inside the window. You look upwards to read the name of the establishment; The Black Flagon.

You head to the bar, and as you walk up to the door you are stopped by a bouncer. "Hold on, sparky. Who the hell're you?" He asks.

>"I'm Rich Hayward's assistant." (bluff)

"I'm nobody at all," you say, slipping 50 credits into the bouncer's hand. He says nothing at first, then simply steps away from the doorway. "Have a nice night." He says to you. You nod to him and open the door, stepping inside.

It's certainly a rough establishment. Some of the men here are arm wrestling, some of them playing darts, and most of them have augmented bodies. The one constant is that everyone is drinking. Rather loud music is playing, making it difficult to hear what anyone is talking about. But amidst the noise, you can make out one word... "Baker". You whip your head around in the direction that you heard the word from, and see a group of heavily augmented men and women sitting at the bar. The one with the most augments out of any of them is a tall black man wearing a pair of sunglasses. Augmented vision, most likely. That or he's just the kind of asshole who wears sunglasses inside. Honestly there's an equal chance of both.

You take a seat adjacent to the suspicious group of characters. "What's your pleasure?" Asks the bartender. "I'll have a Jazari draught." You order. "15 cred." The bartender replies. You place the money on the table, and receive your drink shortly afterward. You sip at it lightly and keep your eyes on your glass as you listen in on the conversation next to you.

"...can't find that many in such a short time. We're not fucking miracle workers."
"That's the quota, and we have to meet it."
"Yeah, well the quota is BULLSHIT."
"Bullshit or not, it's our quota. And if we don't meet it, they'll use US to fill it."
"Fine, fine... That many 'borgs in one week, though? Fuckin' hell..."
"We should probably just get started now."
"Yeah, I guess. What about that guy over there? He's got nice arms. Buy him a drink or ten."

You hear one of the thugs call a lone drinker over to them, and buy him a large and expensive drink. He seems grateful, and they start drinking together. You know exactly what's going down, and you can't let it happen.

"Hey, uh... You. How's it going?" "Bill" asks you. "Oh, it's been good. Real good." You reply, calling for the bartender. You order the man a drink and hazard a peek at the harvesters from the corner of your eye. They don't look amused. "When you're finished with that one, come back and we'll buy you anything on the menu!" One of the harvesters calls to the guy. He smiles widely and places his hands together, presumably to thank whatever god he worships for all the free booze he's scoring. You can't let them get him back, though.

The harvesters stand up and begin walking over to you, all of them seating themselves around you.

"AAAGH! SHIT!" Baker yells, clutching his side. Looks like you got him. He begins to slow down, but a car begins to pull up to bail them out. "No way," you say, aiming your guns at the tires. Click, click... ...And nothing. Fuck, you're out. Baker throws you one of the dirtiest looks you've ever recieved as he climbs into the car. "You're fucking DEAD, motherfucker! Sleep with one eye open! We'll fucking FIND YOUR ASS!" He hollers as the car drives away. They were just far too fast with all those augments. If only you had your old augments... You turn around and begin walking towards the downed harvester as he tries futilely to crawl away. "Let's go, asshole." You say, grabbing his shoulders and dragging him off to a nearby alleyway. You point your gun at his head. You may be out of ammo, but he doesn't know that. "It'd be in your best interests to stay quiet. Otherwise this could get ugly." You say to the injured harvester. He looks absolutely petrified, and complies with your request. Looks like it's time to interrogate.

He rapidly shakes his head. "No! Of- Of course not!" He insists, sweating. You force his mouth open and move the jackknife to his teeth. "I really don't like dishonesty, you know. I think you'll find that if you just give me good answers, this entire thing will be much easier." You say, digging under his gums with the knife. He begins trying to scream, but your hand in his mouth muffles it. You pull the knife upwards, removing a tooth and causing blood to surge forth from his mouth as his muffled scream echoes through the alley, causing him to cough and spit profusely. You remove your bloodied hand from his mouth with his tooth between your fingers. "Let's make a deal right now. For every lie you tell me, you owe me one tooth in compensation. Sound fair?" You say, holding the bloodied incisor in front of the man's face. "I'll be good! I'll be good!" He cries out, chewing on his sleeve to try and numb the pain and stop the bleeding. "Great. Now, where is Baker's hideout?"

...
...
...

The harvester seemed to be honest with you after the tooth stint. You learned the location of Baker's hideout; the top floor of an inn downtown called the Grand Lounge. You also learned that there are dozens of harvesters out on the street; Baker has seven guys under his command, not including the one Bill shot and the guy you're interrogating. They're all armed with handguns, and they have enhanced movement speed augmentations to help them escape from pursuers. "Now... Who's Baker's superior?" You ask. "I-I don't know! I only answer to Baker, it's not my place to ask about that kind of shit." He says, sounding genuine.

You managed to get a lot of information out of this thug, but his usefulness has come to an end. You prepare to execute the man, but... "W-WAIT! I can be of more use!" He says frantically. "You're trying to stop the harvesters, right? I can go undercover! I can get you more info, please just d-don't kill me!" He cries, bordering on hysteria. He could be lying... It's possible that the second he goes back to his gang, he'll just warn them that you're coming. But a rat could be infinitely useful.

You know that he would be no use as a spy; it's too impossible that he could've escaped from you, and he's so wounded that they'd know he was interrogated. Even if he wasn't, you're not sure you can trust him. He did fold for you, so why wouldn't he fold against you? "So, what's your name?" You ask. "R-Ron. Ronald Parker is my name." He replies. "You got a family, Ron? A wife? Kids? Any parents or siblings you live with?" You ask him. Ron nods. "I've got a wife... And a... A baby girl on the way." He says quietly. "Well, Ron..." You begin. You jam your knife into his chest. "So did the people you harvested." You spit. He can't even speak as the shock surges through his body. "It's only fair that your next of kin should get the money from your augs, right? I'll see to it that it happens." You rip the knife from his chest, and his body falls to the ground in a limp bloody mess. You prep your jackknife aug again. This part is about to get messy.

What?
No, we're the one who's going to sell his augs and anonymously give the money to his family.

Baker's Harvesters won't have a chance to go after Ron's family because we'll be hunting those Harvesters down.
>>
>>31061798
Hell yeah. We're just as ruthless in how we deal with criminals, and damn do we get the job done.

They're not that great nor is there much that's new for us.
And I don't want to leave behind any more evidence than is necessary.
>>
>>31062176
Ugh, fine, but at least keep some of the credits for ourselves. We need to be able to make money here.
>>
>>31062176
Also, I think part of the reason we even want our augs back is because they're OUR augs. It's like a personal vendetta thing; we like our augs, yeah. But the reason we want them back so badly is because they were taken from us, and by taking them back we're kind of taking back our dignity.
>>
Don't forget, we need to reload both armguns. Some extra mags would certainly help. And so would specialty ammunition, if we could get it.

At some point, we're bound to face someone with heavier augs or an armored vehicle that we would need armor-piercing rounds to penetrate.
>>
>>31062133

Well, that, and they're fucking HIGH CLASS augs, close to mil-spec, from what we were told about them in the first thread.
More likely than not much better than the stuff we're pulling from Ron here.
>>
>>31062336
>Does he have the speed aug
As one of Baker's men, he should have the enhanced movement speed aug. All of his men have handguns and the speed aug.

Though now that Baker knows we're after him, they might be upgrading their firepower.
>>
>>31062376
For one guy? Nah. They'll just be on alert, and actively searching for us

>>31062425
We also shot Baker. He didn't like it.

>AAAGH! We'll fucking FIND YOUR ASS!"
>>
>>31062458
Yes, but he's not gonna order a comete overhaul and upgrade on his guards to find one guy. He's still gotta make money, and that shit costs it
>>
>>31062525
>order a comete overhaul and upgrade on his guards to find one guy.
They all already have the speed enhancement aug.
To increase firepower, he just needs to get a crate of assault rifles through whatever arms dealer contacts he has to upgrade from their handguns.

When I started the quest, I didn't expect many people to participate. In other low-traffic quests I'd seen, often only two people would reply to a post. If they selected different options, then the quest would be stuck going nowhere until someone bit the bullet and samefagged just to move shit along. I didn't want that to happen, so I decided to make people roll when posting so that if there was ever a stalemate in votes due to lack of people, I could just move along. It actually did end up breaking a few ties for me early on, but we picked up steam, so there's not much of a reason to use the system. If an option ever did gain extremely high rolls, though, I would usually make sure it worked well.

Writing next entry now, stay tuned.

You stand above the dismembered body, stripped of its augments. You flip your jackknife shut. Your work here is done. "You know, you aren't really a whole lot better than them if you're just doing the same thing." Someone says behind you. He sounds familiar. You turn around to see Bill, the man you saved from the harvesters earlier. "Someone has to help his family eat now that he's dead. That's what these are for." You reply, stuffing the machinery into your bag. "I guess." Bill mutters.

"Thank you for your help in the bar, by the way. I'd be dead if it weren't for you." He says, offering a small smile. "I could say the same to you," you reply. "Unless I made a really lucky guess, I take it your name isn't Bill?" You inquire. The guy laughs a little. "Kyle. And how 'bout yourself?" He asks, extending his hand to you.

You shake his hand firmly, metal hand meeting metal hand. "Talos," you introduce yourself. "It's a pleasure, Talos." He says, releasing the handshake. "I kind of need to get back to the whole dead harvester thing. So if you don't mind, I-" "Oh, no problem. I get it." Kyle says, beginning to turn and leave. He stops himself. "Actually... "You can start by helping me get rid of this body." You suggest, gesturing to the bloody mess of a person behind you. "Sure." Kyle says, walking over to the corpse. He lifts the guy up and hoists him over his shoulders. "Where were you planning on putting it?"
"The sewers, probably."
"Not a bad idea."
You check to make sure the coast is clear before signaling for Kyle to follow you out of the alley. You find a manhole, and lift it for Kyle to take the body down. As Kyle begins to take down the body, you can hear someone approaching. "God damnit, every time you try to hide a body in this city-" you begin to rant, but Kyle stops you. "Just meet me at the Flagon tomorrow morning and we'll talk. See ya, Talos." Kyle says, disappearing down the manhole. You close it up as he disappears. You see a police officer pass shortly after Kyle has left. That could've been bad.

You leave the town's inner city. It seems your business is finished here for the night. You walk into the inn to get a good night's rest after all that fighting. "Welcome." The manager greets you. "A room for the night is 75 credits."

You buy a room at the inn and decide to head off to sleep. But before you do, you take another look at the strange augment you found earlier in the pawn shop. You have no idea what it could be used for, but it appears to be a cerebral augment of some sort. You look out the window of the city, looking out at the night sky. The harvesters of this town have another thing coming. You'll get your parts back, and make them regret ever taking them. You'll bring this city justice; and you'll bring this city vengeance.

[ That's all for now, folks. ]
