The morning has been... Interesting. Your mind wanders constantly, your focus as as tenuous as a sand rope, and you are nervous, highly strung. Simply calling your name is enough to make you jump.

To make matters worse, the Northerner had to leave on errands, leaving Monica to stew as she watches Micheal go through a somewhat abbreviated version of his new workout. That is to say, his old workout. You can tell he's a bundle of nerves as well - having trouble with many of his forms.

Monica is quiet, still, and her face is one of distance and loneliness. Micheal finishes his workout, stretching and relaxing.

Okay, since we're in Part Two now.

I suppose we should, at some point, offer Raeve thanks for saving Monica and Michael. Then, we should at the very least ASk Ja'al to offer a new limb to Monica even if we're sure she'll turn it down. Next, ask around whomever's head of Castle Security, and see if we can't pass along some tips for demon-spotting.

Next, see if Gina has any bright ideas for additional techniques Michael can learn.

There's plenty of other stuff to do, but let's start with the backlog.
>>
>>31019501
Goddamnit this is so awkward.
>>
>>31019626
We should tell Monica about our dream demon-stuff, since it's entirely possible that she has the same thing to deal with, considering her leg.
>>
>>31019501
Let them talk. During the party it will be harder.
>>
>>31019657
How much do you wanna bet the Lord of Lords has her leg? Bet he could offer her some tempting deals.
>>
>>31019757
100%

I guess Michael didn't really get that even though stringing people along is bad, this still is a pretty inappropriate time for jilting someone.

I have no idea what we're supposed to do now.

Should we wheel Monica somewhere private?
>>
>>31019749
You step back and let them 'talk'. Time passes, and eventually, you hear Micheal calling after her as she wheels herself away. He groans, letting his hand fall to his side before wiping hair from his face.

"She's excusing herself from the party." he says, sitting next to you. "I can't tell her about last night. I want her to believe in herself. At the least... She deserve to have someone, even if it's not me."

>"What!?" Chase her.
>"We can't have that!" Chase.
>"...That's a shame." Stay.
>"It's her decision." Stay.
>"All the better." Stay.

muh trip

please do not notify me when my trip vanishes. I notice it.
>>
>>31020117
Slap him.

Like... what did we just fucking tell him about stringing people along? He should have thought about that before he let the genie out of the bottle, especially because Monica probably already suspects.
>>
>>31020117
>"...That's a shame." Stay.
We'll pass by her room later, less drama.
>>
>"Take it from me. Avoiding conflict by delaying it only worsens it when it arrives. And what about telling her that you've picked me precludes her from future happiness? The earlier she can start on that, the better, I think.'
>>
>>31020117
>"It's her decision." Stay.

We just decided not to leave Mike unattended. If the vote to chase after her wins we better damn well drag Mike with us.
>>
>>31020336
Well I don't know, as has been pointed out this really is just a terrible time for her to find out she's been rejected, considering how shitty her current situation is.

The problem is that by kissing us, Michael's already changed the whole dynamic and Monica will catch on sooner than later.

Really, the whole situation is fucked up.
>>
>>31020379
That is a good point, no way we're leaving his side anytime soon.
>>
>>31020117
I vote to chase, but he comes with us like >>31020379 said. She really needs to know.
>>
>>31020389
It's pretty bad if we do it now. It'll be horrible later. Basically, Michael needs to face up to this now, because while it'll be bad now, it'll be REALLY bad later.
>>
>>31020494
Unfortunately I think this is correct, but I'm not sure if the QM agrees. Part of me wants to pray to Raev for guidance, but the rest doesn't really wanna bother her.

...I mean god damnit Michael, why'd you have to decide now of all times? Shouldn't Monica have won some you-points with the whole protecting you and getting maimed for it thing?
>>
>>31020117
>"...That's a shame." Stay.
>>
>>31020550
True.
>>
>>31020117
Drag him by the ear towards Monica.
>>
>>31020117
Go after her. She is already gonna be sulking in her room alone tonight, better that she doesn't beat herself up thinking she would have had a chance at Michael had she gone the party.
>>
>>31020550
I know right? The level of credit that Monica is not getting for saving Michael's ass is mind blowing. I mean yes, she is a racist orthodox Lawist who could have prevented the situation that resulted in he de-legging, but she also stepped up when needed most.
>>
>>31020594
No. No cliched animu shenanigans. We all had a hand in this shit, we will settle it maturely instead of blaming it all on Mike.
>>
>>31020626
Granted, she woulda died like an ineffectual bitch had we not booned her, but she was still brave enough to hold her ground. She better get some royal accolades for this shit, at least.
>>
>>31020632
I didn't mean pin the blame on him, I mean that if we want to address this now, we might need to drag him.
>>
>>31020626
I think this is a case of the QM misunderstanding how the players viewed Monica, based on how a portion of us flipped the fuck out when Monica asked Michael out.

And then kind of ignored all our future interactions with Monica.
>>
Is this why you should not stick it into royalty, because the crazy is everyone else?
>>
You groan.
"Micheal... You have to tell her."

"But-"

You slap him. Your ring heats, and the sound echoes off the castle wall.
"But nothing!" you say, angry for her, in her place. Monica wouldn't be able to express it, given the tools she has, and you feel that anger welling up. "I had my part in this, we're both going to talk to her. She lost a leg for you. Her voice, even temporarily. She is scarred, possibly for life, and her only hopes are to marry up." you say. "She staked everything on you. ...I'm happy you chose me. I'm happy you care for me. But she deserves better than this!"

"Then what do I even say?!" he returns, "I..."

>Did you pick me because I resemble your mother, and she doesn't?

Like we just said we were glad that Monica wasn't giving up and throwing in the towel, but instead we won the husbando wars in the most unsatisfying way possible, and is almost guaranteed to drive Monica to becoming a Seducer.
>>
>>31020670
It didn't help that a collection of faggots were freaking out about how Monica was so much better than us and that Raev was a cunt for saving her when the boon thing went down. I like Monica, so we need to move beyond this obstacle as soon as we can.
>>
>>31020683
>She needs to know so she can find someone.
>>
>>31020683
>>I'll take you to her if I must.
>>She needs to know so she can find someone.
I do want to address the mother thing, but not out in the hallway for all to see because I'm afraid of the answer.
>>
>>31020688
>is almost guaranteed to drive Monica to becoming a Seducer.
>almost guaranteed
I really wish folks would stop saying thing. Just about every 'almost guaranteed' thing hasn't come true. The only accurate prediction I can think of was Deckard being a seducer, and even that turned out differently than as was predicted.
>>
>>31020783
>stop saying thing
This, rather
>>
>>31020683
>Did you pick me because I resemble your mother, and she doesn't?
Or rather, what does make us win against her? If he can't express at least that, then we've got boy problems.
>>
>>31020683
>She needs to know so she can find someone else.
>She also needs to know that she still has your friendship and support.
>And Raev help me I will through you over my shoulder and carry you to her if you won't willingly go and talk to a girl who thinks the world of you and you've been stringing along for fear of hurting her.
>>
>>31020803
Asking him what drew him to us would be smart. Less accusatory, too.
>>
>>31020683
>I'll take you to her if I must.
>She needs to know so she can find someone.
I don't think Michael understands what it's like for a girl to be hung up on someone. Especially in Monica's case, when she's been pining for him for years.
>>
>>31020803
Eh, I'd rather save that for later. And not just because we might not like the answer.
>>
>>31020995
On the other hand, it would be a good rhetorical for him to mull over since Monica will no doubt ask what she did wrong and why he doesn't love her like she does him. Him understanding why he chose us will help him understand why he didnt choose her.
>>
>>31020814
Yeah to be honest, he should have told her he wasn't interested a while ago.

Just hoping they'll move on independent of you doing anything is not a good strategy.
>>
"She just... She needs to know where she stands with you." you say. "It'll hurt. But... It's not like you hate her. You don't even not love her."

"...She's like a sister to me." he says quietly. "I want her to be happy."

"And she will be, eventually." you say softly.

He nods, rising.
"Very well." he says, rising. You rise as well. "She'll be in her room here."

You head there together, watching him knock at the door. Something clatters, spills, and the door opens.

Monica looks out, and through the crack, over her head, you can see what fell over. Cosmetics are spilled all over, mostly concealer and other things.

"We need to talk." he says. She looks at you, then at Micheal, then opens the door - and slams it, literally into Micheal's face. He stumbles back, nose broken, and falls onto his ass.

One the one hand, I don't think she should be left alone.

On the other, I don't know what more we can do now.
>>
>>31021136
She's angry as fuck that this is happening right now, and a darker part of her is saying it's because she's been hurt. She needs to hear from those she cares about what's really going on, and she needs to get what she feels currently off her chest.

We should force the issue, but we should also let her know how much we care.
>>
>>31021600
I agree. For a depressed and angry teenage girl thought processes are simple to decipher.
>He doesn't love me
>He loves that whore instead
>He mustn't love me because I'm like this, because I'm crippled...

Maybe she can slide angry notes under the door?

Really, her not being able to talk makes this whole thing awkward.

Also use Eye on door.
>>
>>31022262
HELL no. No invasions of privacy.

Also yeah, 'we need to talk' was not the smartest thing to say while she's mute...maybe we should have waited after all.
>>
>>31022350
Eh, seems fairly clear that she already knew the score.

Though we should tell Michael that's what he gets for using that line whileMonica literally cannot speak, while we help him up of course.
>>
Going to get groceries. Should be back in about an hour.
>>
>>31022350
Missed the last thread, sorry.

It's hard to say if there's anything we can say that she will take well, but I feel like just being superior and brushing this off is the wrong thing to do.

Thoughts?
>>
So, I guess we leave, get out why Ann won first, then find another chance to talk to Monica.
>>
>>31022602
Wise choice OP...pretty sure we're not going to figure this one out though.
>>
>>31022839
We should knock first and say that while understandable, breaking Michael's nose isn't an appropriate response, and while we need to stop the bleeding, we'll be back.
>>
>>31023128
Call out to her that we care, and that we still want to talk to her.
>>31023400
This works too.
>>
>>31023128
Yeah, either right now is a really bad time to run a thread, or most of the players don't wanna touch this with a ten foot pole.

Part of me wants to give Monica time to cool off, but another part isn't sure if she will, or if she'll just simmer with despair and rage until she explodes.
>>
We should explain to Michael where he went wrong first, but let's get that nose taken care of first.
>>
>>31023619
Actually, we've broken enough noses that we should know how to set them, right? So let's set Michael's nose first, then deal with Monica (the childhood friend is really important to the kid) and then go to Karl to get him patched up.
>>
>>31023619
Well, it doesn't take long to tell him to examine what he just said, while we're helping him up.

Recent events notwithstanding, he's a smart kid and should figure it out.
>>
You almost roll your eyes as you help him up.

"You'd think an international power would have a better choice of words." you say, the reach out and set his nose to another yowl. "Look, she's... Not in the best mood." you say, trying to find the right way to put things. You leave with him, taking him to Karl, where you explain how he got the nose broken.

"And how, pray tell, did he enrage Monica enough to do that?"

Micheal nods. "Do you love Annelin? Do you care for her? Will you love her in ten years? Twenty?"

"I..."

"Place yourself in Monica's heels. Consider everything she'd been put through this week. Consider her suspicions, her harms, her actions. Consider what awaits her at home, should she fail to court you. Consider every side of the issue."

Karl looks at you, then gestures with his head outside the office.

"oooh, I hope he's not being stupid..." you follow, and Karl does as well.

When you get there, Micheal is leaning against the door.

"I know you can hear me." he says, "So I won't ask to come in. I know you don't want to see me right now... So all I'll ask is to listen." he takes a deep breath.

"I'm scared." he starts. "I am surrounded by enemies that will happily tear through my loved ones to reach me. I am at all sides beset by decisions that will shape the world. I feel, often times, alone, without help. I cannot make my decisions for myself - everything I do, I must do. And when I try to make the decision I want... Everything goes horrible, and I hurt everyone anyway.

He places his head against the door. "I do care for you, Monica." he says, though it comes out hoarsely. "I care for you more than I probably should. It hurts my heart to see you like this. To have to hurt you myself like this. I want nothing more than your support, to talk and laugh and smile with you. I want you there to celebrate tonight. I want you to stand beside my kingdom, not just as a subject... But as a friend.

His hand rises, and rests on the solid wood. "I am afraid. I was always afraid. And there was a time, I remember, when you protected me. You scared away the hounds, you talked down the angry politicians. Please. Even if it's not in marriage... I want you to stand by me, and I want to stand by you. Don't make me burn one of the few bridges I have, Monica. Please."

Silence reigns the hallway. You hear hinges squeak. You hear things shuffle in the room.

Monica has been crying. Anyone can tell that. Her eyes are bloodshot, her face is a mess of runny overapplied makeup. She seems so much smaller in her wheelchair than you remember her being even sitting down, though she still proudly wears her black, stately dresses.

And she writes on her chalkboard.

'I understand.'

Wipe.

'I just need some time.'

Wipe.

'You've made your decision.'

Wipe.

'I will respect that. But I must'

Wipe.

'Come to terms with it, first.'

Wipe.

'Hurt his heart, Annelin, and'

Wipe.

She presses the chalk hard enough that you hear it snap in half, flying behind her into the room.

'I WILL KILL YOU.'

Her eyes behind the chalkboard, the thick lettering, the way she looks directly at you, tell you she's not lying or overstating or exaggerating.

Don't bother. Doesn't matter that we had to pretty much bully Michael into coming clean with her, from now on we're "that bitch".

Just how these things go.
>>
Why the bridge burning, guys?
It's like you're not into Raev at all.
>>
>>31026751
Twist the knife by making her look like the bad guy in front of Mike? I like it!

(But seriously now's not the time)
>>
>>31026913
Because they're faggots
we could have had our bissexual threesome before, but nooo
>>
>>31026913
It's not so much bridge burning as giving her some time to get her head together first. Right now she's so emotionally compromised that an overture of friendship would probably come off as a trap or an attack, so we don't really want to do that. Just be calm, take her seriously and don't get overly defensive when she goes off on us. We can take it right now, she's too fragile too.
>>
>>31026913
We didn't start the fire. We're just not going to get burned after she made her position clear.
>>
>>31026957
I'd rather our threesome be with Raev. Also, Mike isn't into threesomes.

>>
>>31027062
If she's going to seriously try to murder us for hurting someone's feelings, after said person rejected her, then it's safe to say she barely sees us as a person right now, much less.a friend.
>>
>>31027062
Let's go at this from another angle. Someone you barely know just waltzed into your life and stole your significant other from you. Less than an hour from finding out the person you love doesn't want you, the person that took them away from you who you're furious with tells you they still want to be friends. Do you even want that person in your life at the moment? My guess is no.
>>
>>31027118
I don't think he's ok with being NTR'd either. All I'm saying it that Mike, from our one attempt, is clearly much more sexually conservative than Ann and is looking for a single partner who is doting and fiercely protective in him. I can't see him wanting to share us with anyone else.
>>
You're a little taken aback by that, but you nod.
"I understand."

She calms a little, then wheels back a little into the room and shuts the door, leaving Micheal to sit heavily on the floor with a sigh.

"Father!" the prince manages, and the large man kneels down.

"It seems you two are thick as theives as of late. I think going on a hunt with me might allay and soothe your terrible mood. Besides that, I think you're strong enough!"

"...You never invited me before."

"I never had confidence in you before! But with this lass's training..." he strokes his beard. "Well, you may never weild the sword of my size, but, who is to say that matters? You are growing, and I should see that recognized. Shall you hunt with me?"

You are Micheal Hile, Prince of the Central Kingdom, and for the first time, your father is taking you on a hunting trip.

"Now, the goal..." he says, handing you some armor - made for your size? "Is to sever the head. We can mount it, then. A good clean cut at the shoulders should be sufficient." he says. "I'm happy you can come out with me on one of these." he says with a sigh.

You're truly surprised. You father's never been like this before. Usually he only goes with himself and Gina.

You're nervous but proud. You never hunted with your father before, he always worried you would be hurt, somehow.

"So, you and Annelin." he says, handing you your weapons - a dagger and a short sword, the latter shimmering in the dim lighting.

"Aha... yeah." you flush. "We... It was sort of..."

"An impulse?" the king asks.

"Well... yes." you manage. "She... She was there, and had been there, and... She's beautiful and kind, and she tries so hard."

"Well. I'm glad you found a woman who brings out the best in you. It's what any man should look for in a lady." He grins at you, "That and great stonking tits." he nods, as if disseminating a great wisdom.

You both emerge from the dressing room, meeting up with Ja'al.

"The warding is complete." Ja'al states, "As are Monica's leg and your secondary ring." he hands you a small, silvery ring, which you slip on. "Work is proceeding apace on the other things."

You nod, and Gina grins at you.
"First hunt!" she says, slapping you hard on the back. It makes you stumble. "Don't get left behind."

"I... I don't plan on it."

"Good!"

Annelin is a little distant, as if lost in thought, but you still admire her when you think she's not looking. Even in her armor, she cannot hide her grace.

All of you pile into a large Construct-driven chariot, which sets off immediately. The king is in high spirits, a huge grin on his face.

"We won't discuss last time." the King states. "She's right, though."

Sorry for the lack of clarity last post.

You decide to help Annelin get the tents up. Four of them, mostly as a just-in-case measure, like the carriage being destroyed. Gina and Ja'al set up a perimeter, while Father draws his massive sword from the top of the carriage, grinning.

He and the sword have history, as it was his mainstay weapon throughout the war with the Alvin. Swords in general are a symbol of the Empire, a known favoured weapon of humans.

You relax for the moment with Annelin, who still feels tense, but at least isn't pushing you away. That's when you hear a massive crash, and Gina flies overhead to smash into the loamy earth.

"Is that it?!" she growls, rising from the trench she made and lifting her axe.

You turn to face the enemy, and you're shocked.

Most Canids are huge masses of muscle and power, but this one is a tall, wiry thing, like it's made from bundles of sticks. The air around it churns and shifts, lensing your sight slightly as the earth at his feet shimmers and shines. He's easily ten feet tall, and you all draw weapons.

"Here we are, boy." Father states. "Time to show us what you've learned."

Oh, well that's a shame. Penalizing us for dubs whilst simultaneously encouraging us to roll often woulda been a neat balance.
>>
>>31041098
Not angry, just penalizing people for not paying attention.

This is the first I've heard of this bullshit, so thanks for that and making it clear I'm not welcome here, I won't bother you or your threads anymore.

Just about every thread he mentions that there's no need to point it out, but if you're really that angry about it, maybe its better you leave. This quest could stand to be a little less high strung.
>>
>>31041151
Easy there, Avalon, engaging them almost never ends well.
>>
>>31041166
>This quest could stand to be a little less high strung.
>OP penalizes rolls due to people pointing out his mistakes.
>>
>>31041215
This is because the "you dropped your trip" posts almost always occur as I'm waiting for the timer to tick down from the post I dropped my trip in, so they are literally pointless posts that do nothing but accelerate autosage/bump limit. It got on my nerves, so I told people not to do it. Then they ignored me, so I penalized them.

This is not complex.
>>
>>31041215
>So instead of calmly pointing out why this might be a bad idea I will rant and rave and talk about how done I am with this quest

No it is not, it is however mindbogglingly stupid as that player your drove away said.

Just wait until the QTG gets wind of this...

You pick up a stone, hefting it at the beast, only to watch it rocket into the sky, to land in parts unknown. You barely have time to look back at the beast before Annelin pulls you our of the way of the attack, making the both of you stumble before the creature turns around. Ja'al catches the stone you threw, and lets it fall somewhat - Then casts his spell, rocketing it at the beast. It tries to veer off-course, but slams into its shoulder and dislocates it as Gina charges in.

She vanishes into thin air, her armor, equipment, and clothing slumping to the ground and Ja'al calling her name.

Attack it from its injured side.

Try to get Jaal to focus on the fight, since the sooner it is over, the sooner we can safely look for Gina.

>>31042051
Get inside his range, it'll be easier with one arm out. We attack a leg and then it's all downwards.

The arm flies off into the distance, and you grin, reaching out to slice open his belly - when your blade flies off to embed itself into a stone nearby.

Along with all the buttons, fasteners, and lacing of your outfit. You have bare seconds to act as the other arm is coming in.

I can't make you a Quest pic, but I can pencilfag.
Interpreted beak-head like a smooth helmet head.
Interpreted leathers as greek-ish spolas.

You dash forward, under his next blow, sliding the dagger between his ribs and kicking him away - only to get a solid punch in the belly, landing heavily on your backas the creature backs away, dagger in chest, bleeding profusely.

It's almost dead! You rise, then groan. One of your ribs is lancing in agony, and you can hardly move.
