You are Nick Trimmers, barber from a creepy medieval utopia that has been gifted with phenomenal cosmic knowledge and power. Hopefully your peasant-brain will figure them out without causing too much damage to yourself or others.

At the moment, you are in the pocket dimension known as 'Arsenal', which is a gathering of arms dealers, manufacturers, and clients in a city-sized expo-hall away from the hostile eyes of a larger competitor.

With the assistance of your friends here, you've settled in nicely and achieved many of the goals you set out for yourself. Got an apartment, paid Thrickett back, sold shrooms, tripped balls, trimmed a dwarf, got Jana healed and home again, made peace with the sprites, made loose trade/aid deal with sprites, and drummed up business for you freelance barbering.

The next few months pass quickly, and you realize during this time that the expanse of mystic knowledge imparted to you seems to have left you with a short burst of enhanced learning, enabling you to pick up a handful of skills in months at a level that would likely take years otherwise.
>>
>>30940572
The first part of tonight's thread will be focusing on loose events during the timeskip, and filling out the rest of your skills.

Previously stated actions during this time include:
Taking clients as a barber, going to them and charging a reasonable flat fee.
Seeing what trade you can mange with the sprites.
Taking a small amount of sales work on the side, possibly in exchange for training or goods.
Tripping with Lialla.

First question: Would you like to study the medical teaching of this world that Thrickett practices?

Currently you possess what he might describe as primitive paramedic training and basic dentistry.
You have 3 'Professional' quality skills slots, 6 amateur slots.

You may use a professional slot to upgrade your understanding of both those skills to space-age levels.
>>
>>30940882
Can we have a list of what we can learn?
>>
>>30940572
Put "Quest" in the subject line, man.
>>
>>30940882
As always, feel free to ask any questions you'd like.

>>30941354
I am working on tracking down a pdf decent list that will fit under the file limit. Though 'just about anything' is technically open, given your location.

>>30941479
Well shit, had captcha crash out and reloaded the page, I missed refilling in the subject line. Sorry about that.
>>
>>30941479
>>30940572
Subject was supposed to be:
[Quest] Random Dimensional Part 9 - Level Up
>>
Well I had part of a list ready.
My computer seems to enjoy bluescreens lately.
Rebooting machine, standing by from phone.

And I hope you stay. This quest is good, there are little to no problems with it like other quests, like the amount of lesbian protags, you don't have that. You don't have people yelling waifu every second, and you are very competent at running a quest! So I just wanted to say, thank you.
>>
>>30942213
Thank you very much! It is good to hear that what audience I have appreciates the quest.

Here we go, one hacked-together collection of skill lists from across a few settings.

The 3 'pro' slots will tend to get a bonus to the skill, also skills that have a 'Professional' version will automatically be that version (Dancing and Cooking, for example). I'll also be less restrictive with what can be learned with these.

The 6 other slots won't receive any bonuses, but choice is relatively open, outside of skills that require serious training.
>>
>>30942755
There are a few special training options to appear during the timeskip, I may write them out further if selected:

Training with Thrickett, "What do you mean you don't drain the bad blood out?"
Upgrade to medical knowledge, less free time.

Weapon demos: "So easy even this backwards peasant can do it!"
Modern Weapon Proficiency, bruising of ego, public loss of dignity.

Combat Training 101.
Pay for basic Hand-to-Hand training, costs 1 other skill. Or pay more for advanced and two 'other' slots.

Also some.. interludes that may arise..
Meeting with Administrator Chase, "Well then, let's talk business.."
Meeting with Administrator Anderson, "I hope you don't mind that I let myself in, particularly since you've been letting yourself into _my_ place after all.."
>>

Current Skills:
Barber, Professional
Lore: Megaverse
Lore: Magic
Basic Mathematics
Languages: Native plus 5 from any dimensions or worlds.
Literacy: Native plus 3 others
Astronomy (apparently having a connection to the cosmos gives you skill in stargazing, who knew?)
Apprentice Physick (Great for first-aid, trickier when it gets removing the bad blood).
Basic Dentistry.
Hiking
Swimming
Prowl
Wilderness Survival
>>
>>30943417
Considering the vast number of options that could be available, on languages I'll ask generalities and fill them in, unless you have something specific in mind.
>>
Rolled 34

>>30943188
I want to meet with Anderson.
But for skills, can we be professional with basic electricity, amateur with computers, and amateur with electric engineer? With an amateur in juryrig, a professional with xenobiology, an amateur on carpentry, and a professional in language, and an amateur in research?
>>
Rolled 87

>>30943493
OH, forgot one rank amateur. How about salvage?
>>
Rolled 87

>>30943493
>>30943525
Made better list.

Basic Electricity: Professional
Xenobiology: Professional
Language: Professional
Computers: Amateur
Electrical Engineer: Amateur
Juryrig: Amateur
Carpentry: Amateur
Research: Amateur
Salvage: Amateur
There. How does that look?
>>
>>30943493
>>30943624
Basic Electrical can be picked up as an 'Other' skill, and covers basic understanding of electricity and electrical devices. You could repair a toaster without a check, and try mucking about with harder things, like wiring a house or car. Electrical Engineer would be, well, equivalent to a certified electrician that could wire a home with ease and could muck about with advanced electrical systems. Would need to be a 'pro' selection.

You already have 5 langauge selections to make, do you want more?

Xenology will give you a broad understanding of alien physiology and biology, learning it here would cover a massive array from cross the three galaxies, which may provide enough information to help with unknowns in other dimensions.
It can be selected as an 'Other' skill, or as Pro with +10%, however, the main benefit of this skill is in conjunction with a Medical skill, which it negates penalties for working with/on alien species.
>>
Rolled 20

>>30944049
Hmmm, so what you are saying is I basically still have one more amateur point. Right? So how about medical. And yes, I want more language. Or at least the ability to slowly decipher unknown languages.
>>
Rolled 1

>>30944049
Xenobiology can stay the same right? If so, it's good.
>>
>>30944049
Side note on an odd quirk in the naming of certain skills. Most of the 'Mechanical' skills cover the full range of the subjects' mechanics, not just the purely mechanical ones. Automotive Mechanics covers all the car's aspects from engine to wiring, Mechanical Engineer, in this context, is the catch-all repair and design skill. Sadly, Mechanical Engineer would take an entire character focus, being the key skill of the engineer-type classes.

>>30944209
It can, I just note that it is of limited use without taking the training with Thrickett.
>>
>>30940572
Does this quest involve an extra-dimensional tentacles?
>>

>>30944352
Umm, not yet, but we've met satan, some newd water sprites or fairies or something, and we pissed of some people.

Is that, like, 500 skills or something? Who would be this autistic?
>>
Do we have a list of possible dimensions we could explore yet?
>>

>>30944499
No, it's called Random Dimension quest. DM rolls on a chart, we go there. It's all random.
>>
>>30943624
Electrical Engineer
Xenobiology +10

Language - Just a reminder that Nick has a superpower that let him understand the language of any living person after a couple minutes.
Computers - Computer Operation, I presume?
Jury-Rig
Carpentry
Research
Salvage

Leaves one more occupational choice if you want to stick with those,

>>30944352
Not yet, but they do exist.

>>30944392
Less than that, a lot of repeats since I ran around grabbing the skill lists out of stand-alone books.

>>30944499
>>30944567
Yeah, though so far you know how to find:
Your homeworld.
The sprites' island in a watery dimension.
Arsenal.
You think you could try opening to that creepy place you only glimpsed into as well. Scary fellow called himself the Lord of Hades, so maybe that's it's name.
>>
Rolled 71

>>30944685
Oh yeah... no language then. How about these two?
Lore: Geomancy & Ley Lines
Lore: Magic
>>
Rolled 36

>>30944685
(I almost hope that you can roll lots of things that would, if you wanted to, reference quests. Maybe while flying between dimensions, we can meet Gubbins.)
>>
>>30944766
Got you covered there.
>>30943417

Geomancy & Ley Lines is a specialized study of the flow, places of power, nexuses, and recognizing them. Could have some use, though your innate sense of things and knowledge of how dimensions work does over lap. In fact, if you do take it, I'll give it an extra bump from that knowledge.
>>
>>30944854
I am not unwilling to see such things, though I would want permission from the respective runners for that.
I'm likely to consider visiting other licenses at well, though generally only small ones that I know well, and even then I'll hesitate.
But with 2d100 worth of worlds between the tables that I have, I think I'll be good for awhile.
>>

That sounds good.

Xenobiology: Professional
Electrical Engineer: Professional

Computers: Amateur

Carpentry: Amateur

Spells are up next.

>>30945249
This one? Again, it isn't the only one, just the biggest of the four, so until I get around to editing them into one list, most roll will be on that one, unless I get a repeat or feel like shaking things up.

Oh. Hmm. Can we put the pro on leylines and put the amateur in general repair and maintenance?

(Hopefully) Last List Revision.

Xenobiology: Professional
Electrical Engineer: Professional
Lore: Geomancy & Ley Lines: Professional
Repair and Maintenance: Amateur
Computers: Amateur
Juryrig: Amateur
Carpentry: Amateur
Research: Amateur
Salvage: Amateur
>>
>>30945573
Mostly good, although I did come across one issue as was going over them all, Jury-Rig requires at least Basic Mechanics and Electrical. You've got electrical covered, if you take it at an occupational level I'll just throw in Basic Mechanics.as well.
Jury-Rig, as you might guess, is the MacGuyvering specialization of slapping solutions together fast out of what is on hand. They won't last, but that can save your ass.
>>
Rolled 84

>>30945763
Oh, thank you. Didn't see that mechanics was required.
>>
>>30945763
Why are there no social skills? All I could find was public speaking. Also, I want palming on our list somewhere, though more in the feel of legerdemain than theft. Style points are important when conjuring portals.
>>
>>30945791
Not your fault, you're just dealing with the skill lists rather than the descriptions.

>>30945869
No specific social skills in the system, relies primarily on your Mental Affinity and Physical Beauty to invoke trust/intimidate and charm/impress to see how predisposed folk are to what you have to say.
Given how he's been played, MA has been assigned as his highest attribute.

Held a roll to determine physical appearance, went decently as well.
>>
>>30946016
Some skills can replace the rolls given by attributes as well. Seduction can work in place of charm, for example.
In another example, I decided that Nick's dedicated professional barber abilities warrants a similar use for invoke trust/intimidate while working on people and dispensing advice.
>>
>>30946097
Oh, well that works. What's streetwise do?
>>
>>30946163
Knowing how to track down and knowing about illicit things in an urban environment. Recognizing gang markings, drug dealers, and general skill in finding bad things and knowing shady people.
>>
>>30946097
Wait, I'm mixing GURPS' seduction in there.
But Nick's barbering will continue to be the shave, hair cut, and sage wisdom skill.
>>
Rolled 59

>>30945763
What do you mean take an occupational level? In what?
>>
>>30946446
Alright, replace the amateur juryrig (because impossible) with palming/legerdemain.
>>
>>30946668
Sorry, proper name for the 'professional' selections has that work in it, been trying to filter to simpler language.
>>
Rolled 39

>>30946744
No, I understood that part, but in what? Juryrig? Mechanics? What?
>>
>>30946783
Take Jury-Rigging as Occupational skill, receive free Basic Mechanical.
>>
Rolled 38

>>30946817
Ok, switch juryrig around with the lore.
>>
>>30946840
You seem set on juryrig, so can we replace something else with palming?
>>
Alright then, this sound reasonable?

Electrical Engineer (Bonus: Advanced Mathematics)
Xenobiology +10%
Jury-Rig (Bonus: Basic Mechanical)

Lore: Geomancy & Ley Lines
Repair & Maintenance
Computer Operation
Carpentry
Research
Salvage
Performance: Legerdemain (Bonus, 'cause why not?)

So not taking the upgrade to you medical knowledge or any combat training options? Which is fine, but I just want to make sure you are ok with that.
>>
Rolled 80

>>30946978
Can we also take the medical training?
>>
>>30946978
Barbering covers all the combat we need. Close shaves and all. I'm not sure why we want carpentry, though.
>>30947006
Maybe we replace that with medical?
>>
Rolled 79

>>30947117
Huh, I guess. I picked up carpentry because it was something you could do anywhere with trees and make tools and stuff. But sure. Why not replace it.
>>
>>30946978
In theory you have been exposed to advanced weapons enough that you at least won't shoot yourself.

>>30947006
You can take it, but that uses one of the Pro slots.
Right now you have a decent first aid skill by modern standards, and some strange ideas regarding extended care.
And dentistry with alcohol and pliers, which isn't all that different from modern versions.

>>30947117
Hmm, a fair point. While the Lords & Ladies forbid weapons or weapons training, you have had quite a bit of razor edge practice.. and your current environment would encourage thinking about that more offensively..
Consider yourself to have WP Razor for free with your other old-life skills.
>>
>>30947165
So.. Replacing Xenobiology with medical upgrade, and Carpentry with Xenobiology?

General questions on languages:
Focus on ones that would prove useful in the Three Galaxies? (the dimension Arsenal is heavily tied to)
Focus more on languages from other dimensions?

I'll go ahead and recommend Dragonese/Elven as both a spoken and written. You can find out in short order that it is a common language among magic sorts across realities.
>>
>>30947568
Basically the big question is, would you prefer to be even more useful as a translator here, or have a smattering of languages that may come up in other dimensions?
>>
>>30947568
50/50 split, and yes, dragonese/elven should certainly be on the list, as well as the most common language of traders.
>>
can we get esperanto as a language?
>>
>>30947773
Sounds good.
Gimmie a second to present a selection.

>>30947812
Closest locally would be Trade 6.
>>
>>30947861
>>30947773
Let's say:

Dragonese/Elven. Often used by magically inclined races.

Demongogian. Often used by supernatural creatures, demons, and devils.

Trade Six: Relatively new artificial trade tongue of the Three Galaxies.

Trade One: Believed to be one of the languages of the First Race. Three Galaxies.

Dwarven. Not commonly used outside of certain races, but very old.

(Also have equivalent of Trade Four starting at 50%, seems the base language is related to your native tongue, and is the one Axmel has been talking to you in).

Written:
Dragonese/Elven
Demongogian
Dwarven

Sound good?
>>
>>30948182
Seems fine to me. Can I safely assume that the sprites speak Elven?
>>
>>30948182
If Space Esperanto isn't your thing, we can swap in something else for it.
Dwarven seemed appropriate with Axmel around.

>>30948259
They speak Faerie Speak, but Dragonese is close enough that it can be used to communicate with them at only a 10% penalty. Faerie Speak has no written form.
>>
>>30948308
Considering the time you spend talking to them during the same period, if you are studying Dragonese as well.. I'm just going to give you Faerie Speak at the same level for free.
You are sprite friend.
>>
Now. Let us never speak of skills again.
Until we need them at least.

I should have made pre-made blocks of choices.
I enjoy offering too many selections, it seems.
>>
Going to call a short break while I deal with biological things, like food. Back in a bit.
>>
>>30948617
Alright, back again.
Sorry again for turning today into numbers and choices quest. I'll make it up to you, I swear it!

..and on that note, does anyone have an opinion on spells?
Just rough opinions, I'll pull together choices that match up.

5 spells. Most travel options you have locked down already.
Most choice revolve around warping space and warping perceptions, couple for expelling demons and wondering Escher paintings comfortably.
>>
>>30948982
Space warping. I'd like a pocket of holding, eventually if not now. Wandering Escher paintings also sounds good.
>>
>>30949290
Groovy, these can be things.

Was worried I'd driven everyone away, sorry about the less-than-exciting thread tonight.
>>
>>30949401
What are the perception warping options?
Had to finish up and then transit home from work.
>>
>>30949484
Alter Perception will serious disorient people, also might deafen or seem to take damage from normal sounds and fluffy bunnies for a couple minutes.
Warped Space will disrupt an area in space-bending ways, making seeing and shooting difficult.
World Bizarre will temporarily make an area seem to be a tentacled horror-fest, Curse of the World Bizarre will make someone see/feel everything as a tentacled horror-fest for several days(more resilient minds will know it is illusionary, but still will be uncomfortable and unable to tell people apart, weaker minds really get bent out of shape).
>>
>>30949678
Warped space seems the most fitting with the other things obtained, or possibly world bizarre. Are they both general area things, or can they be targeted at an individual/group?
>>
>>30949742
General area for those two.
>>
>>30949763
Right then. World Bizarre seems like it would be more natural to use, given the Horror Utopia background, pick that one up. What does that make our spell list at this point?
>>
Alright, so:
Dimensional Pockets sounds like it is a sure bet.

Ignore 3-D Constraint- walk on walls, ceilings, whatever.

World Bizarre. Turns a 100ft radius area, up to 200 feet away, into an area all but the bravest won't run out of.
>>
>>30949857
Looking good. Next, is there anything to help deal with other sorts of environmental hazards? I'd hate to walk into a dimension of fire and get crisped. Anything like scrying or counter-scrying would also be of interest.
>>
>>30949857
Other fun suggestions:
Applied Effect Manipulation - Increase/decrease effect of momentum, kinetic energy, or gravity on an object or person.

Dislocated Perception: See/hear/smell at a distant location. Counts as Seen/Been-to for teleportation targeting.

Redirect Damage, send damage to you to someone else instead, has limits on how much it can take.

D-Warp, lower level vertigo inducer.

Realm of Chaos, take you and your enemies to a showy realm to fight apparitions of their fears.

Dimensional Envelope - create dimensional walk-in closet.

>>30949913
Well, you have Alter Environment, which will alter temp by 50 degrees at current level. Doesn't help as much with fire, but on the upside, typically you should land where there is life. Though fire elementals are alive.
Does seem like there should be more.. wait I think I do remember something but I'll need to pull my notes from the first session..
>>
>>30949913
About the only kind of 'scrying' you might detect would be people spying of you astrally.
>>
>>30950020
Which does me you could project in turn and poke 'em in the eye.
>>
>>30950037
*mean.
..
I fixed three typos and still missed one.
>>
>>30950009
Do you mean we have Alter Environment already, or we can get it? AEM sounds fun and useful, Dimensional Envelope is right in our area of expertise. So, if we already have Alter Environment, get those two; if not, get it and AEM.
>>
>>30950009
Oh shit, forgot to mention Teleport: Lesser, which is a handy way to jump around.
>>
>>30950111
Nick enjoys walking, hiking, and running away in panic. There is no need for teleporting.
>>
>>30950095
Crap, i never pasted the current spells.
I am fail tonight.

1st, Alter Environment, Astral Projection, Spatial Senses
2nd,
3rd, Close Rift
4th,
5th
6th, Dimensional Portal, Re-Open Gateway,
7th,
8th, Dimensional Vortex

We're selecting spells from levels 1-5, only able to take one fifth level one at then moment, but I think we're eyeing other spells more so should be fine.

>>30950142
Fair enough.

>>30949913
Also could take Plane Skip, a last minute noping out of a dimensional journey in progress to different random location over the on that you are about to hit.
>>
>>30950159
Plane skip is a good idea. So, final list:
Dimensional Pockets
Ignore 3-D Constraint
World Bizarre
Applied Effect Manipulation
Plane Skip.

Next level I intend to pick up dimensional envelope and dislocated perception, so don't let me forget about them.
>>
>>30950246
Sounds good!
Let's see.. I _think_ that is everything now.
Thanks for sticking it out and working on changes.
