Oh? Do tell. All the impression I had from those engagements were Japanese tanks getting clobbered by Shermans like, well, Shermans getting slaughtered by Tigers. No detailed personal accounts or such.

Though the dug-in anti-tank guns the Japanese employed were more successful on that role, if I recall correctly.

Of course, like many Japanese smallarms, it's a pile of shit. The mechanism is complex and jams easily in jungle conditions, the bullet is underpowered, and the gun itself has awful balance because some knucklehead thought a big, heavy magazine sticking out of the side was a good idea.

Kings of this hall: AK-47, the Owen gun, Most well-made revolvers (special honors: the model 29 .44 magnum and Colt single action Army).

Honorable mentions: The Hotchkiss machine gun, Glock semiautomatic pistol, MG-42 (it had to be, with the rate of fire it could sustain), Browning M2HB machine gun, Henry repeating rifle, and M1911 pistol.

No, sorry, that thing was shit no matter what cartridge it fired. Yes, the 30-06 made it worse, but it made worse severe issues that were already there.

It had an open-sided magazine that basically fed dirt straight into the action. It had bad magazine design that caused feed failures if you loaded all 20 rounds, forcing gunners to only load 18-19 shots instead. It had a crummy bipod and a long-recoil bolt that made sustained fire a nightmare. And even in 8mm Lebel it overheated (with no way to change the barrel, I might add) after less than 500 rounds.

It was a crap gun. You are literally the first person I've ever met who defends the thing. Are you French, and if you are, why are you defending THAT thing instead of a much finer French weapon, like, say, the Hotchkiss?

Spaced armour is 2 armour plates with space in between the two. Schurzën is an example of it.

Applique armour is just extra armour put onto existing armour. The Centurion Mk 3 to 6 is an example of this.

Applique can be anything, doesn't even have to be a factory kit. A lot of Sherman Crews applied applique armor in the form of extra plates, concrete, and sandbags. The purpose is to straight up thicken the armor

Spaced armor is intended to prematurely detonate HEAT rounds, destabilize penetrators, they also serve as extra armor being lighter than Applique and providing less armor.

Schurzën doesn't add much. They're usually anywhere between 5-10mm thick, and weigh very little. Against HEAT it changes the standoff distance, against small caliber rounds it causes premature fragmentation. Tank rounds tend to just ignore it.

Applique can be anything from 30mm (Pz IV Ausf. J) to 60mm (Centurion Mk 5/1). Both were 5 tonne upgrades.

Especially the Grizzly since it seemed like an upgraded version of the M4A1, with upgraded slope armor (and some equipped with the 17 pdr )

To let's say to other variants like the Firefly and Easy Eight.

Speaking of Sherman Variants, the one thing I'm confused between the variants was the different engines they used, which one's were better compared to each other.

Ram was built off the M3 Lee and had the 2pdr (Mk 1) and 6pdr (Mk 2). Not much better than the standard Sherman at AP, much worse at HE.

It's not upgraded, it's just a M4A1 with British tracks and radio. The 17pdr Sherman is the Firefly (Sherman IC, IC Hybrid, VC)

M4/M4A1: Petrol, Radial A/C Engine. 400 net HP
M4A2: Diesel, 2 engines. 375 net HP

Incorrect. It had thicker, more sloping armour, had a longer range, and, most notably was fitted with Canadian Dry Pin tracks (CDP) tracks, which did not require rubber, a scarce wartime material and were superior in practice to the basic Sherman ones anyway.

The CDP track was lighter and simpler than the standard US tracks and did not require rubber, which was scarce since the Japanese advance into Southeast Asia.

A small batch of Grizzlies were fitted with an Ordnance QF 17-pounder for training but none saw action.

You should be looking at Torque as well, as the Transmissions are the same through the models and therefore the gearing.
Radials and Diesels (Though for Diesel engines this isn't surprising) appear to have a very large powerband when compared to the GAA, so the gearing is relatively important

I find your claims dubious, considering the 15.5" CDP is less wide than the 16.5" T51, the loaded weight for the M4A1 is ~500 lbs different to the Grizzly and they used the same engine and fuel tank layout.
