>What is This?

Saiyan Story is a series of Choose Your Own Adventure threads in which you play the part of a Saiyan Warrior. Decisions are made by vote, with the option to earn the most in a ten minute interval winning.

>Stats

Power Level: 45,000,000

Health: Excellent

Ki: 100%

>Recap

With Vegeta and Bulma searching the galaxy for surviving Saiyans, you have been left in charge of the New Saiyan Empire. Bardock and Onia departed to find other races to join the empire, while Spina returned to planet Venj to train animals for the empire. Things were going well until Kami received a vision of a creature devouring you and your loved ones. So, you gathered everyone you could at Kami's Lookout.

So the quest's ending?
>>
>>30759721
Certainly looks that way. And from the end of the last thread, it seems it's going to be rather brief.
>>
>>30759747
Well that ducks
>>
You have all gathered.

Family and friends stand together on Kami's Lookout, uncertain of what is to come. The younger children don't seem to fully grasp what is going on, but they can clearly sense the distress the adults are feeling, as they remain quiet.

Salta and Spina do their best to keep the children calm, Fita paces nervously, the Androids stand off to the side, bored expressions on their faces. Fluffy, apparently sensing danger, growls lowly and looks around.

"Okay, so what exactly are we going to d-" Salta begins before staring up into the sky.

Turning around and following her gaze, you see someone you have only heard described by your family, though part of those descriptions involved him being dead.

Cooler, chunks of flesh missing and replaced with cybernetics, hovers above the Lookout, hand raised above his head, gathering energy and forming a massive ball of it.

At his side hovers a creature with a similar body type, but major differences. For one thing, its head is entirely mechanical, and most of its body is horrifically maimed, cybernetics jutting out everywhere on it.

"Well, looks like I finally get to finish what my brother started," Coller states gleefully before hurling his ball of energy at you.

That'd suck, since we have no indication of what would be a good idea.

No indication of Cooler's strength, the other thing's strength, the strength of the blast, or how long it will take for the blast to reach us? Yeah, I'm not sure how we're expected to come to a decision based on what we have aside from gut reactions or trying to "outsmart" the QM.
>>
>>30759928
>use your heads
Really? With this situational awareness?

Might as well literally use our heads and headbutt the energy ball
>>
>>30759954
I can make a thousand different hypothesis about their capabilities and the situation, and each one will lead me to a different answer.
This isn't math, so yeah
>>
>>30759984
That would be amusing
>>30759954
Well, a few threads back, Bardock had a vision of this new Cooler that was much stronger than him even at Super Saiyan 2. Cooler is also close enough to see and hear, so the blast probably won't take long to reach us.
>>
>>30759943

>>
Does an energy blast travel at near lightspeed or is it closer to the speed of a bullet?
Can either of them absorb energy?
How strong are they and more importantly, if they are actually stronger than SSJ3 how in hell do you beat them, unless you get everyone to gang on them/use genki dama?
And so on.
>>
>>30759943
The closest I can come to an actual strategy is similar to >>30759873

Have everyone IT clear, powerup as far as we can before the blast hits, and put up ki armor. Then, IT with the blast, but reverse our orientation upon reappearance and move to Cooler's side. Either we reappear and the ball's momentum is gone, at which point we throw it back at him and finish powering up, or the momentum continues towards Cooler, and we power up.

That's all I've got.

You and the other adults grab everyone and use Instant Transmission to escape the Lookout just before the blast hits.

The Lookout is completely consumed by the horrific energy of the blast, obliterated in seconds. Around you, Salta, Spina, Fita, Erica, and Kayle power up to their most powerful states. You decide to do the same, powering up to Super Saiyan 3 just as Cooler and the other cyborg arrive.

Cooler examines you with interest. "Your power level greatly outclasses all of those around you. You must be the Super Saiyan who killed my brother. You know, when your son died, it was because you weren't there. My quarrel has been with you and you alone, but your stupid child decided to defy me. So, I killed him, and the females nearly killed me. I'm Lucky I have such intelligent friends." He motions to the other cyborg. "And, of course, you remember my father, King Cold. I'm afraid he's not even half the man he used to be, but now he is far more powerful and far less irritating. So, will you do the intelligent thing and all attack us at once, or does your Saiyan pride demand that you fight alone?"

We could have just had a thread where we tied off loose ends, then ended neutral. Maybe had a little epilogue about how the next generation stepped up.

But no, apparently we're going to end on one last clusterfuck of an Android fight, fumbling around trying to figure out if there's any option on the table that isn't retarded.

We could mix it.

Salta, Spina, 18, 17, Frank strike at full power while Fita loads the Spirit Bomb

Draw sword, set up for a lava attack while pretending to get ready to say something "clever". Then IT closer, lava Cooler in the face, then IT to what's left of cold and hit him with a surprise ki-sword slash. Then IT a short distance from them.

Mentally tell the adults that they should try and land attacks of opportunity while we take them head-on, and to watch for energy absorption.
>>
>>30760332
>>30760358
Some combination. Let Fita do her thing, let the other "secondary" fighters get some good shots in when they can, but get in close and keep the enemy's attention.

It should go without saying, but IT should be our normal method of closing and disengaging at this point.

You say nothing, vanishing before Cooler's eyes and appearing to his side, firing a massive energy blast into the side of his head. He goes sailing past Cyborg Cold, who simply leans back to avoid a collision. At the same time, you telepathically tell the others to coordinate in an attack and tell Fita to charge a spirit bomb. As she does so, the others all fire their most powerful energy waves as one, and you do the same.

"KA.........ME...............HA..........ME.........HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!" you shout, unleashing your blast along with theirs.

You notice your sword glow brightly as everyone unleashes their energy, and all of the blasts strike Cooler head on. There is an explosion that causes the ground to shake violently, and sends out a shockwave that knocks everyone off their feet. When you all stand, nothing remains of Cooler but a half dissolved head and some scattered pieces of scrap metal.

Cyborg Cold turns to examine his fallen comrade, then turns to look at you. In a monotone, mechanical voice, he says, "Activating Omega protocol."

He stretches his hands to either side, and they begin to glow red as a dome of matching energy surrounds him. His body begins to glow the same color, and you feel an incredible amount of power building, more then enough to wipe you out.

"He's going to self destruct!" 18 yells.

You grab the Cyborg, a struggle, since you must reach through the dome of energy to do so. Still, you succeed, and seize him, using Instant Transmission to teleport him where he belongs.

You end up in Hell, in front of a very surprised Doctor Gero. You shove the cyborg his way.

"Here, hold this," you tell him before using Instant Transmission to go back to Earth.

"Well, that was easy," Spina comments.

"Yeah, too easy," Salta says. "I would have thought Fita's parents would have something far more impressive when they finally made their move."

"Yeah, but this isn't what Kami had a vision about," you tell her. "I need to know what comes next."

You power down to Super Saiyan 2, and walk over to Cooler's head and attempt to read its mind. As expected, there is nothing t read. Half of his head isn't even there, and it's dead anyway. You order the others to head for Venj. Reluctantly, they do so, and you use Instant Transmission to head to Mars. Oddly, you can't send Fita's parents anywhere. However, you soon hear them over a loudspeaker.

"Welcome, my lord," the male says. "It's so good to see you here."

"We would have been disappointed if you had been slain by those weak little cyborgs," the female tells you. "Especially when we went to all the trouble of preparing a true test for you."

Several panels on the floor slide open, and dozens of figures emerge. It takes a moment to process exactly what you're seeing.

Dozens of Cooler's and King Colds stand before you, smirking devilishly. Your scouter puts the Coolers at 470,000,000, and the King Colds at 950,000,000.

"Thanks to you and your family, we were able to gather large amounts of genetic material from King Cold and Cooler," the male informs you. "Using that, material, we have created hundreds of clones."

"With such an army, the entire universe will bow before us soon," the female tells you. "Of course, that will happen far more easily if you are not around to interfere."

>A. Destroy all of the King Colds and Coolers with a massive blast

Yeah. We've never used it in battle, and at our power level it's a distraction or crowd control, but forging the new ki sabre on Huhn-Tresh's planet in lava and the flames lets us shoot lava from it.

You jumps into one of the open panels, finding yourself in a large corridor. You dash down it, slaughtering several Coolers and King Colds as you search for Fita's parents. The corridor leads you to an elevator shaft, and you leap down, blasting your way through the roof of the elevator at the bottom and then through the doors, entering a large room. There, you finally find them.

Fita's parents sit in two massive chair, looking entirely calm as you enter the room. Before them stands a tall creature with green skin, wings, and a long clubbed tail. Its eyes glow red as it stares at you.

With no sign of the creature returning, everyone has gone back to Mars. Doctor Briefs searches through all of the computer files that weren't destroyed in the battle, while the others examine the damages, deeming them easy enough to repair. Everyone is safe, and life is good.

>What happened next?

The New Saiyan Empire grew rapidly over the years, with Earth soon joining, producing many powerful warriors under the command of Salta.

Vegeta and Bulma returned from their journey a few months later with nearly two hundred Saiyans. The Saiyan race would recover over many generations, eventually thriving as they had in ages past.

Vegeta and Bulma were soon married, and eventually had two children; a boy named Trunks, and a girl named Bra. Each of them grew up to be a strong warrior, even becoming Super Saiyans.

Bardock and Onia continued to bring more and more races into the empire, making it into a mighty civilization.

Bardock and Onia eventually married, and had several children.

Goku and Chi Chi eventually got married, and had two children; Gohan and Goten

Spina's animal training agency grew over the years, and became extremely valuable to the New Saiyan Empire. A battalion of triceratops saved a NSE world from a terrible warlord.

Huhn-tresh and her people remained strong allies of the New Saiyan Empire; this alliance would last long after the deaths of Frank and Huhn-tresh, each of whom died peacefully after long lives full of great battles.

I don't ...
SOM, are you making another quest then?
>>
>>30763452
well that was fairly abrupt
>>

Pretty anticlimatic, but at least it was a happy ending.

-d becoming famous around the world.

Android 17 continued his voice acting career, becoming famous for his role as Hiei in Yu Yu Hakusho.

Doctor Gero succeeded in conquering Hell, and plotted to invade heaven. However, his plan was not set into motion until after Frank's death, and after a ferocious battle, he was defeated and imprisoned by Frank.

Zarbon became filthy rich off his restaurant business. He received occasional visits from Frank and the guys over the years, old conflicts forgotten.

Raditz met a nice Saiyan woman and eventually started a family with her. It is the only group he is the strongest person in.

Nappa received a severe head injury, altering his personality. He went on to become the New Saiyan Empire's Patti cake champion.

Portat is still dead.

Fita continued to grow stronger and stronger over the years, always able to provide a good challenge for Frank.

Salta lead the New Saiyan Empire to many great victories, and is still known as the greatest commander in its history.

Fluffy, being immortal, still lives to this very day, and has been an honored companion of Frank's, Goku's, and Vegeta's descendants for as long as he has lived.

Arey served as guardian of mars for centuries, before eventually passing the title to a new guardian.

Frank and Huhn-tresh eventually admitted their feelings to one another, and had a happy relationship that lasted their whole lives.

Frank and 18 eventually began a relationship as well; they spent a fair bit of their time arguing with each other, but overall, things were good.

Franks children all grew up to be great warriors, and each lived full, happy lives.

>So guys, this concluded Saiyan Story. Thank you to all of those who have been with me for so long; it's been a fun ride, and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Also, a buddy of mine named MINOC is starting his own DBZ quest tomorrow. I think he's a far better writer than I am, though his rules are a bit stricter. Check it out.

>>30763767
>they were literally both waiting for the time to be right

Also, to complement: I'll miss the quest in general. Followed it since the start, helped win that Salta fight early on. Good times, SOM. Don't disappear, you'll always be welcome.

Is this really how you're going to put an end to something you've been running for months? This is just fucking lazy.

Thanks SOM, even when everything was going to shit from retarded decisions it was fun. It was nice seeing your QMing grow with the story too. I'll miss Frank and co

So any ideas on what you're next quest might be? Also I'm curious, was ending the quest a recent decision or had you been planning on ending it around now?
>>
>>30764140
So, how's your friend's quest gonna be?
Do we make a char or go off with a pre set.
If it's too much to share now no worries, but it'd be nice to know a bit about it.

Also will his time be the same as yours?

>Addendum: the Briefs family is still unaware that all of their children are named after undergarments
>>30763829
>Addendum: Kami would eventually pass over guardianship of Earth to a young Namekian named Dende.
>Addendum: King Piccolo is still in a rice cooker. Many of Frank's descendents have described it as "a sacred duty", and that it makes "damn good rice"
>Addendum: Mr. Popo eventually overdosed on LSD. There were no survivors.
>Addendum: SuperKamiGuru would eventually die of coronary failure. His last act was to admit his role in the great drought that befell his people, after which he was brutally dismembered.
>Addendum: Eastern Supreme Kai eventually recruited Frank's family to fight the Wizard Babidi and Majin Buu. Claiming that fighting Buu was "like a tedious cartoon battle arc", he offered each of his family members an opportunity to beat the creature senseless, whereupon he finally cut it in half.
>Addendum: Eastern Supreme Kai was still terrible at his job, with Frank and his family eventually taking over the job of regulating the smooth running of the Universe in his place.
>Addendum: Krillin, Tien Shinhan, Chiaotzu, and Yamtcha went on to be moderately successful students of the "human ki revolution". Frank referred to Krillin as an Albino Namekian until the day of his death.
>Addendum: Broly was "killed" at some point by most of Frank's children: starting with Bardock and Erica, and eventually ending with Marron and Kai-Lan, his children with 18 and Huhn-Tresh, respectively.
>Addendum: historians would later note this final fight for its festive atmosphere, with various refreshments being served to diplomatic guests from around the NSE.

He lives in the same timezone as me, so probably the same time of day. I think he said he's only going to do like four days a week though, not seven.

Same basic premise of Saiyan Story, only set a bit earlier, different characters, more serious, different vote system, yadda yadda.
>>30764253
I'm not sure yet, honestly. I'd considered an Avatar (Last Airbender) quest, but am unsure. Someone else mentioned that they might like to make one.

See you around, Som. Didn't always agree with everything that you did, but I had fun anyhow.

Also, since the proxy rules are lenient, I'm also using this. It's the image that you described as "surprisingly similar" to Huhn-Tresh, and it's been my mental image since then.

Yeah, so that's a thing.
>>
>>30765269
Somnius, as someone who's been following from day one and made more than my fair share of fanart, I say good riddance. This quest has been far too waifu-centric, and honestly, DBZ-questan as a Saiyan has no real tension.
Good on you for sticking with it for 124 quests, though.
>>
>>30765754
Thanks, and thanks for your honesty
>>
This is finally over.
Thank god.
>>
I don't know why I followed it to the end, but I did. There were some good moments, and even though I hated most of the rest of it I think I might actually end up missing it.

It's weird.
>>
This was absolutely disgusting.
The only good thing somnius ever did was figure out it needed to end.
>>
>>30769114
When your polls drop from 15-20 participants down to four, on a good day, that's kind of an indication.
>>
>>30765754
That's why I think a Dragonball quest as a human would be more interesting as you can't rely solely on your power level.
>>
>>30769253
Hoping MINOQ is planning TienQuest.
Hell, I'd love to be Appule's race.
>>
>>30769311
Hope MINOQ doesn't continue the somnius legacy of worst written quest.
>>
>>30769808
I'm not entirely sure that's fair. Off the top of my head I can think of InsertNameHere, Archelon, and Landing Gear, who are worse than SOM in terms of plot, writing ability, waifuing, and/or QM-ing in general. I can think of a few who are worse in at least one aspect who I otherwise like: for example, AzureEarth's writing leaves something to be desired, even if enjoy reading his threads.

If I could nail SOM for a few specific things it would be the weak-ass ending, over-reliance on "Say Something / Do Something" as options, the occasional bout of combativeness, and the fact that his updates were always short compared to the time they took.

For the most part, though, I'd say he was par for the course as QMs go. Which is a shame, really, because I have a soft spot for the setting and I liked some of the characters.
>>
>>30770081
In fact, I think I'm going to rewrite the whole final arc, just for my own purposes. That's really what irks me: after 124 threads of wanting to see how it ends, it ends in a whimper.
>>
>>30770081
All those Qm's you named are better than somnius at every single field you named. Except maybe Landing gear at general QMing, and that is one hell of a maybe. somnius is the worst by a long shot
only guy who even comes close is mustache twirler
>>
>>30770576
>INH
>better writer
The man is barely fluent in English by his own admission (from one of the early threads), Archelon's entire quest is about waifus and (for an unreasonably long while, at least) party-preparation, and Landing Gear... was Landing Gear, you understand what I mean if you were ever there. MSQ was basically SWQ for people who wanted MORE waifuing and MORE little anime girls, in case you've forgotten.

Face it, SOM really wasn't THAT bad, and most other QMs aren't really THAT good. And this comes from one of the more vocal critics from about thread 30 onward. Sure there were plenty of things to find fault with, but at the end of the day it's not worth getting vitriolic over.
>>
>>30770934
Other QM's aren't THAT good (except a rare few). But somnius really was THAT bad.

You point out all the flaws in other QMs, which are nothing to somnius only getting his quest popular by basing it in dbz, then driving off all his voters with retardation and defiling the dragonball universe.
>>
>>30771212
What can I say? I never claimed to be a great QM.

Dude, it's a quest on /tg/ about an anime about people with tails, not some political cartoonist drawing Muhammad.
You should probably not be this salty.

Christ, this is still on the board?

I had time to sleep a full eight hours and rewrite the Epilogue already.
