You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

It’s still raining today. Hopefully it won’t be like that for practice. After a nice quick shower, you get dressed and hurridly get some breakfast into you. Today’s going to be busy, you can feel it.

You get a text from… Maho Nishizumi?

> Your gift has arrived. Compliments. Good luck in tournament.

Lady of a few words. Kind of reminds you of a certain someone.

There’s a knock at your door. You open it up to see your crew, all ready for the day. Ramirez hands you an umbrella. “Ready for practice, today, President?” asks Nancy.

“I’m more than just ready, Nancy. Tankery practice is second nature to me, I tell you.”

Lisa nods. “Well, let’s all get to school then. Hopefully the rain lets up. I don’t want to have to slog it through the mud again.”

With that, you get on the road to school. The rain is a lot heavier than yesterday. It’s sort of like how Forrest Gump would describe it, “Big Ol’ Fat Rain.” You need to watch Forrest Gump again. It was a good movie.

“Has Fairless called you yet?” asks Nancy. You shake your head. “Hm. Maybe she’ll talk to you in person then.”

Lisa says, “Don’t know why you’d want to, she’s scary as fuck.”

“Hey,” you say. “Fairless is a nice person… granted, she is a bit frightening from time to time but she’s nice!”

Oh, I do have a reason. the Ausf J was the simplified model used in late war Germany and had to take out a few features to ease production.

Its performance also decreased because of it.

The Spanish team that fought Chi-Ha-Tan, used one and lost due to the manuel turret traverse.

“You know,” says Lisa. “The Churchill is still out right?” You nod. “Where do we put them?”

You say, “We have the Chi-Ha available. I’m not sure if I want to stick them in it though.”

“Well,” says Nancy. “I’m sure the little Japanese tank will grow on them until Earl comes back! I mean, they can’t just sit around, can they?”

You nod. “Of course.” You look over at Ramirez. “Speaking of which, what’d you do with all those model tanks, Ramirez?”

Ramirez says, “I’ll build them later when I get time.”

You nod. “Okay then.”

You arrive at school. Students are going to and fro in every kind of direction. There are already election posters up for Jeanette Rankin, and for yourself. Nancy must have worked on those.

Fairless calls you over. “Gertrude.” You walk up to her. “I talked to O’Keer last night.”

You nod. “What’d she say?”

“O’Keer says that we can work something out. Lansky did take full blame for the gambling racket and all other responsibility,” says Fairless. “However, O’Keer wants something to reassure us that she’s changed, otherwise she’s fucked.”

You nod. “Okay. What do you want from her? Community service?”

“She needs to pass her mid-terms,” she says. “With a 90% average.”

Fairless says, “Most schedule it on Friday after Halloween. If you want, I can help you study maybe.”

“No thanks, Bernadette,” you say. “You should probably study yourself. I’ve actually got something to do on Friday afterwards you know?”

With that in mind, you take a quick walk around the campus. Nothing much happens, although you can clearly see supporters of Rankin put up more posters. Meanwhile, you see Freshmen put up more posters supporting yourself. That’s nice of them.

The Alarm rings. Time to get to class.

Math and English roll by relatively quickly. However you pay extra attention and take good care of your notes considering your midterms are coming up far faster than you think they are. Tests did have a tendency to blindside you, especially last year. You’re not entirely sure how you managed to even make it to next year.

Chemistry finally ends. Still no fun lab. You regret not taking psychology like everyone else did.

I say we go for the KV-2.
We tend to split our force into an attacking, flanking and reserve, and the KV-2 makes an excellent reserve vehicle for when we're up against dug-in heavy armor. It is capable of indirect fire due to its excellent gun elevation and can therefore double as an artillery piece, and remember, top armor is weak.

To address the discussion after thread yesterday, I think the benefit of selling the Chi-Ha is that the money could be the difference between having or not having a conversion for one of the Shermans. I'd rather not field the worst tank in our lineup if we could field an overall stronger team without it.

So let's call Chi-Ha-Tan and see if they want it. If we can't get much for it then it may be worth keeping. If it's 8K+ then we're dropping that pile of ass straight away.

“Come on,” you say. “Run, run.”

All the gym students were running laps around the gym. A minimum time was required in order to get an A+. Joanna simply waved hi as she jogged on by, having the best time out of anyone. Nicole barely managed to get through to the minimum, while Rachel and Willie Hanna ended up with Ds.

Poor girls.

After that was push-ups. It was more or less the same pattern with everything, Joanna passing with flying colors, Nicole barely ecking through, while Rachel and Willie Hanna were just fighting to not to fail class.

Makes you think about Kitten a bit, at least before she ended up doing Tankery.

Finally, evaluations are over. You list off the grades to the incredibly exhausted class. “Bolter, Joanna. A+. Grant, Nicole. B…”

The Alarm bell sounds. Gym is over.

The rest of the day flies by relatively quickly. Of course, you don’t have midterms for theatre, but for French and History? You practically tape your eyes open.

Finally however, school is over.

The firefly, yes, but it was awkward as hell and didnt really offer any performance benefits worht that price over the 76mm armed shermans in US tests, and the 76mm is mediocre at best. Meanwhile, panthers are bouncing more shots and putting holes in frontal heavy tank armor (it just broke down a lot but 150km between failures is irrelevant for a single match even if it was a terrible thing in the war).

The E8 was a decent as far as American mediums go. It's still not a Panther G though. Or a T-44.

The Jackson/Slugger was never called either name officially or by anyone using them at the time. The M36GMC is open topped. Which means for Senshado it's gonna be more expensive to convert. The gun could be worse but reportedly still bounces panther front hulls. The hull armor isnt bad for a sherman but the turret is weak as shit, and the hull isn't standard sherman either, so add some cost there. I think we can get more tank for the money.

The only advantage the shermans had was their numbers. There were more of them than fucking T-34s.

Cathy and girls smile at you. “We’re doing okay!” says Cathy.

“Kinda sucks that Earl isn’t in for us to train with though. It means we get stuck with the Chi-Ha,” says Tabitha.

Tara nods. “Yeah.”

You say, “Well, sorry. I mean, it’s only for the week. You know?”

“Of course,” says Cathy. “We can wait, but getting stuck with the Chi-Ha is a bit of a daunting prospect. Fitting us all in there isn’t going to be fun.”

You say, “It’s a four man tank, how are you going to-“

“We’ll make it happen,” says Ashleigh.

Well, you won’t argue with that.

Lutz walks over to you and says, “Oh, Gertrude. I almost have your book translated and ready. Should be ready by tomorrow-“

Dales bursts through the door. “Everyone! There’s a new tank in the Hangar!”

One of the track links falls off by itself. Okay, that may take some work. You look over at the Aces. You say, “Yeah? Yeah?”

Wendy sighs into her hands, looking right at it. “On the one hand, it’s a Series One Stupa. On the other hand it really…” Kate elbows her a bit. Wendy says, “I suppose, with some TLC, might do us some good. I’d rather a Panzer IV though.”

Kate says, “It’s up to Gertrude.”

You walk up to the Sturmpanzer IV. On the side is a note which you read.

Dear Gertrude Pool,

This Sturmpanzer IV served Kuromorimine well during its early years before we were able to afford better tanks. On the side painted are eleven kill marks and the name bestowed upon it, “Stupa”.

The crew was not a very creative one.

Please accept this gift for defeating not just Walter Christie, but for also proving yourself in the Tournament. Although we may not face each other in the tournament, I’m sure any match we have will be good one. Please give this Sturmpanzer a lovely home and give it the care it deserves.

Sincerely,
Maho Nishizumi

The tanks start rolling out. The Freshmen have some trouble with the Chi-Ha, but thankfully they’re more or less getting the hang of it around the second turn of the lap around the field. Formation training is less of a doozy than last time. Lutz, on her own time especially showed the Theatre Tech crew how to handle something as sensitive as a Hellcat.

Kate says, “Right, guide on me!”

Her Tiger II leads the charge as you all form into a wedge formation down the field. The girl seems to know her stuff when it comes to formations at least.

Lutz rolls up her Panzer I, speeding next to Kate. She says, “Good work, Kate!”

You’re all in the Warehouse, taking a brief rest. Nothing much is happening other than the Loaders having a wrestling contest. Wendy, despite her reluctance, was roped into it, and is currently busy supplexing everyone into the ground.

You watch from afar, chewing on an orange slice Nancy brought for your crew. Kitten sits atop the turret playing on her DS, Lisa plays on her smartphone, Ramirez simply takes a nap on the engine block, and Nancy studies hard.

“I’ll have you know, Wendy!” yells Gussie. “I am the strongest in the Polish Student Association and I-“

Wendy wraps Gussie up her arms and puts her in a very constricting chokehold. Gussie waves her rag, a signal of defeat, unable to talk or even scream.

Abigail crosses her arms, a bit mad. “Cockbite.”

You roll your eyes. That’s the most you’re going to get you suppose.

Kate claps her hands together. “Right, time to get back to practice.”

“Alright. So, we all know how to command and the like right?”

Wendy leans over to you and whispers, “Kate really does know her shit when it comes to tanks. It’s a very different experience teaching it though.”

You nod. “Understandable.”

Kate taps her chalk on the board, thinking. “Um… Well, basically coordination between commanders is important, I’m sure you all know that. Right?” Everyone nods, saying yes. “Good, good. And to keep that coordination, you need to constantly report in with location and condition.”

Kate’s mostly going over stuff you’ve already learned. Doesn’t make it any less useful however.

Soon however, practice is called quits. Kate comes up to you and says, “Teaching really isn’t my thing.”

You shrug. “It’s not for everyone. Sorry if I’m pressuring you.”

“It’s fine, you know, I noticed some of our crews were working pretty intensely today…”

All of you sit around in the classroom, waiting for Kate to actually teach something.

However, she herself seems stumped.

“Um…” Kate scratches her chin. “Well, you all know sloping increases effective thickness, right?” Everyone nods and says yes. “Ah, okay… uh.” She looks over at Wendy. “Wendy, maybe you can teach them something?”

Wendy shrugs. “Do I look like your mother? You teach them.”

“Alright uh…” Kate draws a line on the board. “Hm. Shit. Uh…” She draws another line parallel. “Well, of course you have the distinct classifications of light, heavies, and mediums. Anyone want to tell me which class does what?”

Juliette raises her hands. “Light tanks scout, heavies attack and tank damage, mediums can do a bit of both.”

“Alright, that’s a nice answer,” says Kate.

Because HVAP from the 76mm was more than adequate with a 20RPM as opposed to 10 coming from the 17Pdr, and the 76mm threw HE better than the 17Pdr.
The 17Pdr also had trouble when firing Sabots as they would leave debris in the barrel which in turn affected the accuracy of follow up shots.

We should prioritize the Panther chassis. It's the best medium tank, hands down, and one of the most valuable purchases we could make. It'll take some money to get it back up to snuff, but the same could be said for the Jackson. And if you'd check the pastebins, we don't have a 17pdr available; it was already installed on the Sentinel.

However if we're talking about using the Chassis we already have it and it's cheaper, so we can make a jackson and or a firefly

I forget what we originally paid for the Panther, but aside from initial buy-in it's only costed the program an extra 10 grand. 2 batches of 5g each to take it from base to Ausf A, then to G.

What do you have besides your own opinion that makes a Jadpanther a piece of shit?
>>
>>30718480
In my opinion I'd say it wasn't all that successful at all, seeing as how they got rolled every time.

It's a funny joke because you think performance in a war is somehow relevant to how something performs in tankery, seeing as how the two activities have nothing in common with each other.

This is like saying a Formula 1 car would be an excellent daily driver because it won the manufacturer's cup.

> Study with the Delinquents

By now, you’ve gotten most of the delinquents into their textbooks and got them actually studying.

Well, most.

Zwillman jumped from the bed and tried to make it a run for it before you tackled her to the ground. “AAAAHH! LEMME GO!”

“YOU WILL SIT HERE AND YOU WILL STUDY!” you scream at her as you hold her down.

After that little incident, Elouise was assigned guard duty over Zwillman as she lazily flipped through her history textbook. Ramirez serves you all the Empanadas, which are incredibly doughy but still definitely tasty. That’s Hispanic food for you.

There’s a knock at your door.

Let's just think about this in a Tankery context.

It gets mobility killed, as tanks often do in tankery? Useless peice of shit.

Fairly thin armor for a casemate, only offset by a decent slope on the front...and other wise nearly vertical on all other facings. Pretty useless.

Not that fast, not that nimble, not that maneuverable. It will get outplayed.

Why exactly do you want it? You got killed by one a ton of times in world of tanks and now you want your own?
>>
>>30718656
Jesus, Calm down.

Also using an analogy doesn't back up the fact on the value of the tank.

I mean, at least with the HellcatvsStuart, we got links and information.

All you said is that it's shit, and that WW2 doesn't apply to tankery.

You stand up from your desk then answer the door. “Oh, Fairless. What’s up? Who’s your friend?”

Fairless is standing next to a short hall monitor, red hair, freckles, green eyes. Definitely Irish. “Name of O’Keer,” she says, offering her hand. You shake it politely. “Lucky Lucy in there callss me ye be having a wee time of it cramming for mids.”

Charlotte nods. “Yeah, O’Keer. No need to check on us.”

O’Keer narrows her eyes, then quickly makes the “I’m watching you” motion with her fingers. She does it with all five of them in quick succession, then with Nancy, Lisa, Ramirez, Kitten, and even you.

“Why do you need to watch me?” you ask.

“You all have the fecking capacity for the will to commit crimes, yearra.” She stuffs her hands in her pockets. “Stay outta trouble, ye keen?” With that, O’Keer makes another “I’m watching you” gesture at Fairless, then leaves.

Fairless shrugs. “O’Keer’s a bit paranoid, but she’s competent. You need my help in there?”

You nod. “Sure, Fairless. Come on in!” With that, Fairless walks in, looking around. All the Delinquents get a bit paler when they see that she’s walked in. When Fairless looks at them, they immediately bury their faces into their books. “Hope we’re not bothering you,” you say.

Fairless shakes her head. “Nah, it’s fine. Happy to help my underclassmen.”

Nancy smiles. “Bernadette! It’s nice to see you again!”

Fairless nods, “Hello, Nancy. Good to see you too.” She sits down next to Zwillman, who immediately stiffens up. “So, what are we studying?”

Lisa says, “General history stuff.”

“Alright, anyone need any help? I consider myself good with history,” says Fairless.

All the Delinquents shake their heads, “No no no!” they say, chuckling nervously.

You must have forgot that Fairless seems to strike fear in the hearts of students.

I know exactly where its going to go, not anywhere near a casemate conversion.

They are infinitely less flexible and that much harder to use properly and get the most out of, and who gives a shit if its slightly faster if it has no turret? Our teams tactics rely on adaptability, versatility and being able to cover for any other tank in our lineup, and casemates can't do that, the only reason we're not selling the Brummbar is because it was free, face it, for our team, with the way they fight, the Jagdpanther conversion is a colossal waste of money AND a tank.

You say, “So, anyone need any help with anything?”

All the Delinquents look at each other nervously. Charlotte raises her hand. “Well,” she says. “I was wondering how to do this math problem here.”

Fairless leans over to her, causing Charlotte to flinch in fear. “Really?” says Fairless. “Show me.”

“Uh-! I-“ She points to the problem, grinning wryly. “That’s the problem.”

Fairless adjusts her glasses a bit. “Oh, that’s simple factoring. Just use the FOIL method for that, you know that method right?” Charlotte shakes her head. “Alright, I’ll show you.” Fairless scoots up next to Charlotte and pulls out a pen. “It’s real simple.”

Zwillman meanwhile, has fallen asleep. Elouise slaps her awake. “Don’t you fall asleep on me,” says Elouise.

“Oh go fuck yourself,” says Zwillman.

Out of anything, the only one of them who actually appears to be getting the material is Benita Siegel. Smart girl. Maya meanwhile is simply copying the answers of her homework off of her Siegel. Lisa slaps her pen away and starts gently scolding her.

You decide to call up Mr. Mishka.

Maginot didn't have any SOMUAs when we first took a look at them, so the only reason to study them at this point would be for CP.
Koala might field some Sentinels, so at least we'll have some knowledge to impart on Team Liberty.
It would be nice to read up on unknown teams at least once, if it pertains to usage on specific model of tanks that we are fielding.

Zwillman’s head is bobbing up and down as she struggles to stay awake. Elouise continuously slaps her awake every time she fully falls asleep. “Fuck you, El,” says Zwillman.

Fairless meanwhile is leaning over Lansky’s shoulder as she instructs her how to properly factor. You never quite figured out factoring yourself, but listening in on her is a good way to learn.

Kitten meanwhile has fallen asleep trying to study along with you guys. You nudge her awake. “Damn it,” she says.

“… and there you have the answer,” says Fairless.

Maya nods slowly. “Okay, I get it.”

“Try it yourself,” says Fairless. Maya takes a few minutes to do the next problem. Once she’s done, she shows it to Fairless, who nods with approval. “Really? Awesome!” Maya beams. She gets to work on the next problem immediately.

It’s well into the night as you all study. Zwillman has been allowed to fall asleep mostly because Elouise has fallen asleep right on top of her. You can’t be bothered to wake either of them up, they just look so damn cute.

Meanwhile, of all the Delinquents, the only one who hasn’t needed any help is Benita. That’s actually pretty darn surprising. In fact, she’s actually given some help to Charlotte and Lansky occasionally when Fairless was occupied.

“Welp, we’re going to turn in,” says Nancy. Lisa and Ramirez are with her as they stand by the door. “Lovely studying with you all!”

Lisa says, “Don’t fuck up.”

With that, they leave after a quick goodnight.

Luciano checks the time. “Yeah, we should all head home too. It’s getting late.”

All the delinquents stand up. Benita gently kicks Elouise and Zwillman awake. The two of them wrestle each other off of one another, muttering insults at each other. Charlotte nods to you, “Thanks for letting us study at your place.”

“Was no trouble,” you say. “Feel free to drop by anytime you guys.”

All of them say, “Yeah, yeah,” as they walk out the door.

Fairless as well packs her things. “Lovely studying with you, Gertrude.” She snaps her lighter open and pulls out a fresh cigarette. “I’ll head out too, don’t want to keep you and Kitten up all night.”

You look over at Kitten, she’s fallen asleep on your bed. D’aaaawww…
