Welcome to Academy City. The time is afternoon, the weather is cloudy and the date is still July 29.

You are Kyril Torikov, ‘Level 2’ Telekinetic Child Error, and you have just wiped the floor with Tamezou and his thugs. The cavalry, read law enforcement, are predictably late as usual. It took a while to explain your actions as self-defence. The camera footage didn’t have audio but it could read Tamezou’s lips. You even paused the footage to point out the exact moment his jaw breaks. Uiharu and Shirai weren’t too amused. The former because you basically touched her computer and the latter because you didn’t really hold back. Given that Sparky was also attacked within the same frame of time and that Tamezou was a repeat offender, you got off with a warning for using excessive force.

Tamezou’s knee had been permanently tweaked, his jaw needed resetting and his lost a few molars. The one with the knife dislocated his shoulder and broke several bones here and there. Two chains suffered a concussion, a cracked skull and fractured ribs. The last two thugs were relatively untouched. They suffered psychologically more than anything else and lengthy therapy may be needed.

To be honest you mostly felt,
>Glad, they got what they deserved
>Nothing, it was you or them, no more no less
>Guilty, you really could have held back a bit
>A feeling so complicated (write-in)

You should feel guilt, a part of you thinks, but then again you remember. They weren’t exactly there for tea and biscuits. Tamezou came in looking for a fight and he got one. That you beat him till he cried like a bitch wasn’t an issue. You don’t take shit from anyone lying down but it’s even worse when they don’t just insult you but also those you cared about. Yeah, you definitely felt glad that the son of a bitch is going to spend the next few months in a hospital undergoing both physical and mental therapy to get back on his feet. If he comes around again you wouldn’t shed a tear if starts something and you blow him off his feet again. Aside from that, you also note that really it was either you or them and how good it felt to just really cut loose against Tamezou. There certainly was no love between the two of you.

The walk back to Cypress Park is mostly silent and awkward. You heard from Kaoru that Sparky took care of her attackers neatly. So the difference from that and the bloody scene you were found in was disconcerting. It was understandable that being a human tazer allowed one to subdue opponents in less than lethal fashion. Kaoru and to a lesser extent, Touma, understood that. The two Judgement members were rightly disconcerted with your lack of scruples in dealing with the thugs. Sparky however was lost in her own thoughts.

You decide to prod the Electromaster as a way to break the ice. That and you were genuinely curious as to what happened with her.

“What’s on your mind,” you ask.

“Is this your habit or something?” she answers.

“You look troubled, again,” you state the obvious, “Is this your habit?”

“I know guys like to hit on girls from Tokiwadai but these guys were actually going to attack me. It just doesn’t make sense to me.”

“In my experience thugs only attack when they need to prove a point, like showing the world your weakness or for revenge,” you explain, “If you went around frying thugs all the time, eventually some of them would be stupid, or prepared enough to go after you.”

“Maybe it those guys from a week ago?” Touma postulates.

“That was different!” Sparky shouts back.

“I suppose we will take your word in to consideration,” Shirai cuts in, “You are the expert at this.”

“It’s not like a high-brow Lady such as yourself would know of such things right?” you brush it off, “Is my usual day too much for your delicate sensibilities?”

“Now I know how you charmed The Dictator,” Sparky added dryly.

“How’d the date go?” Touma asks.

Your group started chatting of more light-hearted topics then. You managed to return in time for the birthday party. Mum and Daigo seemed none the wiser but Aneue certainly did but said nothing. With the incident still fresh on your minds, the group decided to put off meddling with Aneue’s love life. The day ended without further incident.

The time is now morning, the weather is clear, and the date is now July 30.

Only two words today. They’re, you’re free. Free to do whatever you wish. Free to pursue whatever you please. You still owed Nunotaba that favour and the deadline just inched closer. Then again, Big Spider apparently had some beef with you so nipping that in the bud would be worth spending time and effort on. Other the other hand, you had your own and Touma’s love life to consider but they probably won’t be the death of you if you put it off for a while. Hell even exercise, both for yourself and your Ability is worth doing.

There was no sense putting it off any longer. You have a week left to retrieve Nunotaba’s data and you weren’t going to put it off until the very last minute. For one, Kaiou University’s defences were probably going to be better than Kiyama’s office. It was also a rather big campus and you were sure the camera surveillance location was disconnected from the university proper. This meant you couldn’t reliable subvert it and thus disguise was probably going to be your only option. That aside you needed a reliable floor plan on where exactly the data and the servers were and the means to extract it. If anything, you were sure this wasn’t going to be a quick and easy job.

Your resources, if you were callous enough to refer to your friends as such, were Sagara and Tadakuni. Kyousuke is on the fence about the whole issue and Nakazawa does not want to directly involve himself with your plans. With your current apparent bad blood with Big Spider, you were not sure if Kyousuke would even be that useful but it was worth a try. Sagara is a new addition and he brings his bat-like sound Ability to the table.

Calling up the boys, they gather in your dorm room. Then you give then the brief of your plan. In fact, most of the time was spent explaining to Sagara how you ended up in such a predicament. You also spent some time going over your brief encounter with Tamezou and Big Spider yesterday. Nakazawa as he had already pointed out wanted nothing to do with this.

“I can get you the floor plans,” he assures, “That’s not illegal but I’m not doing any more than this.”

“Understood,” you couldn’t ask much more of him.

“Well I’m certainly not surprised that shit you pulled with Tamezou would come back to bite you in the ass,” Sagara says, “Still, I never really was friends with him because of his opinions of Ability users so it’s no big deal. To be honest I’d love some insurance but if you went with me pretty sure you’d be dead in a minute.”

“And don’t worry about getting in and out of there boss. I’m sure I can find at least three ways in and another dozen ways out,” Tadakuni seems very enthusiastic about your enterprise.

Sagara just shrugs a bit as you get ready to head out. Before you go, what kind of insurance do you give Kyousuke?

Fishing out the brass knuckles that you looted from one of Tamezou’s thugs you toss it over to Kyousuke who catches it deftly. He gives you a nod and your party splits up to do their assigned work. You leave the gun behind again as the amount of trouble you’re expect to face is on the level of a milk run. That is, there wasn’t going to be any and it would stay that way if you didn’t walk around with a gun on your person. You’re the last one out since you had to lock the door and eying the location that you kept the gun, you whisper, “soon.” Sagara, with his good hearing gives you a funny look.

Kaiou University is in School District 5, as most other places of higher education are located. The campus isn’t as big as you thought it would be, and the walk isn’t too far from the seventh district. Already you can see a major problem if things went pear-shaped. The best place in Academy City to hide away was either School District 10 or 19. That was a pretty lengthy trek when you had to lose the heat. Still that was Tadakuni’s job so you didn’t worry too much about it just yet.

The cameras here are small and almost unnoticeable but given enough time you’d be able to map them all out. It wasn’t obvious where they were pointing since that basically defeated the purpose of having them hidden.

To say that you simply trust Sagara is a bit of an understatement. His Ability was related to psychometry which bar some other form of ESP, was now actually quite useful for what you asked him to do. Thus, you leave him to the task and investigate through the admin building. There wasn’t that much traffic yet so you couldn’t exactly waltz around at your leisure. One of the secretaries does question your presence though.

“I’m looking at prospective universities,” you reply easily, “I may only be in my first year but it’s never too early to start.”

She agrees with you and mutters how she wished more kids were like you. You score the digital campus map (in 3D!) as well as a digital brochure for all prospective students.

Kaiou University is apparently one of the leading universities in medical science and athletics. Despite its small size, it houses a biochemistry lab, a computer lab and a digital library in one building and several lecture halls in the other. The last building is the admin, which is supposedly where their servers are kept. Their track and field program is shared with a nearby stadium a minute or five walk away.

All of this good news is somewhat countered by a text from Kyousuke. He’s run in to a bit of a problem regarding acquisition and requires your presence to discuss the matter.

With a quick heads up to Sagara you leave and make your way to Kyousuke. Well you feared the worst but because Kyousuke was still in contact with you it meant that he was still conscious. He assures you quickly that it was not an ambush of sorts but that it was a completely different matter all together. With your association to Kyousuke and relationship with Big Spider, his contacts had become somewhat less cordial. In fact they had turned rather mercenary and were demanding money as payment for the items you wished to acquire.

He required your presence because the dealer was for all intents and purposes holding him hostage until you showed him the money. After which your deal would be concluded and the both of you would go your merry way. They weren’t exactly hostile yet, seeing as they were sitting and discussing the transaction at a josePH’s in the seventh. Nunotaba had promised some help and it looked like she could foot the bill. The price however wasn’t as extortionate as it could be since you could pay out of your pocket but it was not an insignificant amount.

Sitting at one end of a table is your dealer who seems to be more interested in his coffee than anything else. He’s flanked by two burly males. A third sits next to Kyousuke, boxing him in the booth with gratuitous amounts of man muscle. In fact, your friend looks positively tiny compared to them. It’s a good thing he knows the rules and his face offers no fucks to give about his predicament. They turn at your arrival but you simply sidle up on Kyousuke’s side casually.

“Right, well I believe your sugar daddy is here,” the dealer turns to you, “Here’s my price, in case you missed it.”

He lists a six digit sum.

“You wire me the money and you get your stuff within 24 hours guaranteed,” he continues, “No refunds though.”

Given your remaining allowance and your current pantry, you flash him your card and transfer the money. Nunotaba could refund you later, which from the reply you received not five minutes earlier she gets a bank statement. The dealer then signs something on paper and hands it to you.

“Pleasure doing business with you,” he gets up with his thugs, “And for what it’s worth, Tamezou was stupid to cross you.”

He leaves you with Kyousuke after paying for his coffee. The slip of paper has something scrawled on it.

You feel more like some kind of manager with all this supervision you were doing. Then again you really didn’t have any right to complain. This was your problem and thus this was you running the show. A brief text message tells you that Sagara was finally done with mapping out the cameras and was actually heading up to meet with you. Seeing as you were already occupying a booth a josePH’s you wait for him as Kyousuke sets off for the dead drop location. He knew more about dealing with those types than you did after all.

As you wait, you also forward your bank statement to Nunotaba who promptly transfers money back to you. Her note also seemed to imply some reward for the service that you were doing to her.

Sagara arrives, greeting you and ordering some coffee. Then as quickly as he can he gets to scribbling on a napkin the locations of the cameras. And you had to admit, that was a lot of cameras. They had several outside but there were plenty more inside the administration building and the laboratories. However until you got a floor plan for them you weren’t going to be able to accurately represent them. Thankfully Nakazawa and Tadakuni both arrive and both bearing news. Do we get an advanced copy of her new KyrilXTouma smut manga?
>>
>>30682436
I was hoping it would be something useful...but its probably that.

I say keep on the coffee table.

Pic related if that's the reward

It would also make a great conversation starter.

Who do we let read it first: Index or Asuka?
>>
>>30682569
Asuka
inb4 she likes the idea and decides she wants to watch it happen
>>
>>30682656
unlikely, Touma's power gives him veto and with Asuka's issues probably she probably doesn't want to chase away somebody that legit likes her.

the poor little rich girl will just have to settle with hiring stand-ins do a reenactment
>>
>>30682748
So the manga's getting a live-action movie?
>>
>>30682857
Asuka does have enough dosh to option film rights and get a cast and crew....

Sorry this is taking a while, drawing a map.

You decide that the maps aren’t going to go anywhere and besides, Nakazawa could probably be better off mapping camera coverage with Sagara.

“Like I promised, I have three ways to get in boss,” he starts, “First is the subtle method. We ‘borrow’ the janitor’s master key and enter the server room as if we owned the place. Of course we’ll be disguised as a janitor but that’s not a problem because they wear caps. Helps against the cameras real good I bet. The second is to actually like the first but instead we trigger the fire alarm. This will unlock all the doors in the building and allow us to sneak in undisturbed. The people watching the cameras probably won’t question techs running in to secure the server room. Finally we have the highly illegal method of entering through the emergency exits under the campus. There are tunnels there we can exploit to get to the servers but if we get noticed by the cameras the jig’s up.

“As for security there are no warm bodies outside the teachers themselves but none of them are Anti-Skill as far as I can tell. There will be robots but that’s only if the alarms are tripped and that’s connected to the camera network. Doors have electronic locks but they can be sliced open if Kyousuke get’s the good stuff.”

You assure him that yes Kyousuke has, given the sum you parted with to obtain it.

“Extraction is based on what we choose. There’s a bike rack so we could get a scooter parked there fine and no one would question it.”

You’re pretty sure that none of you have a 400cc bike license yet.

“Well no but we’re old enough for one so it won’t be too suspicious. Hell, we could even smuggle a bike up the tunnels. It’s wide enough for one and it’s not exactly a patrolled route. We’ll have to navigate a bit but if we don’t get lost we’ll end up somewhere in School District 22 then it’s a short jaunt to District 10 where we can lay low. If that doesn’t work out I know a few places in District 19 that could serve as a Plan B. Any way those are our options but you’ll probably want to check out the maps too I bet.”

Speaking of which, Sagara and Nakazawa were done with their map. Kyousuke also called to say that the equipment was all account for and would be stashed away at his place until it needed to be used. The fake key cards need to be used on one of the University’s doors of course but otherwise you had all the pieces in place. With that done you’d be ready to move except that you didn’t really have a solid plan yet.

I kinda like the tunnel method. Thee are less cameras that way. There are also no cameras in the air conditioning room which the tunnel entrance opens into.

Even if we don't enter through the tunnel, I like stashing the getaway ride in it for extraction.

As for how we actually get in, I'm torn between the janitor plan and the tunnel entrance. If anyone else would like to weigh in on that, that'd be cool.
>>
>>30683320
Which makes me realize that we could probably stand to actually scope out the tunnel before this.
>>
>>30683171
>Get working on a plan (write-in)
I say we disguise ourselves as technicians, have the fire alarm go off, secure the information, and escape through the service tunnels. They won't question us going to the servers and they wouldn't think otherwise until we escape, which would be too late for them to do anything.
>>
>>30683171
The janitor route seems the most cromulent choice but last time we got sniffed out by Judgment in no time at all.

Tadakuni and Kyril go in tunnel

Sagara goes as janitor to help run interference and or hit the fire alarm and possibly finish the job if Kyril and Tadakuni get busted.

need some kind of communication if cell phones don't work in the tunnel though,
>>
>>30683389
2nding scoping out the tunnels. look into acquiring a scooter. on the down low preferably.
>>
I feel that if we trigger the fire alarm there is going to be a fail-safe for the servers that is going to screw us over.

His presence no longer required, Nakazawa leaves you with a curt “good luck” before he heads out the front door of josePH’s.

The time is now afternoon, the weather is still clear and the date remains unchanged.

Having relocated to Kyousuke’s dorm to avoid further suspicion, you draw up some preliminary plans for the job. You being the ringleader settle on a kind of multi-pronged attack. There was a need to get in quietly true but you still needed to get your data as soon as possible. Someone would have to move in as a janitor whilst the rest of you infiltrate through the tunnel. This would require some amount of coordination and the small earpiece and throat radios would serve that purpose well. They were on their own private bands and Academy City could not monitor all radio traffic all the time. Still your plans were quite set in stone yet.

The remaining issue was the tunnels, acquisition of the scooters, where exactly you wanted to put said scooters and setting your key cards to spoof the locks. Each on their own could take a while to do. Who do you assign to which?

in case that happens, we best take a take a page from Kyril's countrymen's playbook and go scorched earth policy.

also, try to get a used one and one that is very very common, in both model, make, color.

You didn’t want to go back to the university today if you could help it. It’d look suspicious. You’re also pretty sure that Tadakuni already had a passing familiarity with the tunnels if anything he said was any indication. This left you and Sagara to go about acquiring a moped or bike of some kind. You knew a few places, junkyards and depots and such that wouldn’t mind that you borrowed one for a day or two. They were slated for scrap anyway so they wouldn’t be missed if you accidentally set one on fire.

On the way you’ve contacted Nunotaba as well to make sure that you were going to acquire some means of transportation. Here she agreed as well to back your purchase should you actually spend money. The depot in School District 17 was kind enough to let you look around for an old beater of a bike and you spent most of your time there. You and Sagara were playing up the fact that you were going to get a bike license soon as were out shopping in advance. They’d gladly let you take it off their hands for some cash or some part-time work here in fact. Most of the surplus stuff was going to the scrap heap and they paid less than what you were offering, but not by too much.

You decide to pay through labour. One, all it did was take your time and two you now had access to a junkyard, who knows what you could find here? With your decision made, it is now evening and you are now a proud owner of a beat up moped. It’s a Vespa, or so you are led to believe, but suffice to say that you now had a disposable getaway vehicle. Tadakuni and Kyousuke both checked in as successes and you were going to meet up at Kyousuke’s place before finalising your plan and hitting Kaiou U. the next day.

Episode 15 End. I actually need to hit up a university too chaps so no interlude tonight/today. Twitter’s here for our next time together.

The KU Job. They see you rollin’, they hatin’. Will they catch you ridin’ dirty? When writefag and /tg/ meet the story begins.

I notice some choices don’t seem to get many votes mainly the personnel assignment ones. If you didn’t vote for those and voted for others I’m just curious as to why. In other news, waiting 15 minutes doesn’t actually increase the average amount of votes. It only makes me stay up later. Are the choices just boring or is it the current plot?
>>
>>30684627
Eh. It just that our character choices don't seem to impact him as...much.

I mean, from having a decision on going to the side of justice to knifing people for money dream is eh....weak.
>>
>>30684627
sometimes when anons are unsure of what to vote for, they abstain and let others pick for them.

I had to look up Kyril's pals' specialties to remind myself. maybe just post their skills, abilities, and or connections so we remember next time.

also, thanks for running
>>
>>30684741
also, I occasionally miss the votes for one of 2 reasons

1.) I sleep in and miss the first vote or two
2.) while waiting for updates, I lose track of time and end up missing the vote.

to be fair, I can think of 2 or 3 other quests that take just as long to write up, sometimes even longer
>>
>>30684741
That would certainly help me. I sometimes have trouble remembering who has what specialty.
