Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Lolis, Killers, Explorers, Robbers.

YOU ARE KRIS,

And you've managed to organize this over-sized force into something resembling a manageable platoon consisting of three squads of stalkers, your general infantry that you've arbitrary assigned the call-signs Anna, Boris and Vasily. They'll be supported by Dmitri squad, the Duty guys in exosuits, and Fyodor squad, your Freedom marksmen and snipers.
You, Ice and Sergei are lingering at the back of the group as a HQ team, with you having a direct radio contact with the leaders of all the squads, and to Vasa who is currently scouting out the plant ahead of your with Loli.

You're pretty happy with the layout, but you're still hopping between the men, making sure they're as best laid out for the assault when Vasa's voice screams in your ear. "COMPROMISED! KRIS, HELP!" You hear a rattle of gunfire from deep inside the compound.
Showtime.

They don't know you're here yet, but you've got good intel on their positions on your side of the plant. There's only one way in and out right now, though you've positioned a charge on the blocked gate on the right flank which is ready to blow at any time.

[ ]Pull as much attention off Vasa as quick as you can! Blow the side gate and go loud!
[ ]Storm the first building quickly. They might notice you sooner, but you should be able to take them before you take casualties.
[ ]Go in quickly but quietly and acquire a solid position to attack from. You'll have the advantage before they even know you're there.

CO Alkaev is too tactical to do anything else.

They don't know we have the charges. If we open up the first front now, we can catch them off guard a second time on the second flank. That is better than simply causing a lot of chaos now that they will adapt to. Keep one or two squads ready there.

"Everyone, it's SHOWTIME! TAKE THAT GATE!" You punctuate your order by standing up, waving your rifle in the air, then sprinting headlong at the main gate. With an eager cry, the entire force of stalkers matches your pace, rushing across the open ground.
You're almost through it when a gunshot rings out from behind you. The crack of the round impacting tells you it was aimed at the building to your left, and you note a figure crumpling back away from the window.
First blood to you, you guess!

Dmitri squad moves up on your right flank, but lingers outside the gate while you and your thirty-something cannon fodder breach the compound gate. Fyodor squad keeps on firing at the windows of the first building while Anna squad breaches the first floor. You hear one of the Freedom marksmen whoop over another confirmed kill, meaning Anna should only have to deal with one more guy in the first building.
But the mercs definitely know you're here now!

>Alrighty guys, you're pretty much completely in charge now, show me what you got!
>To make things simple, the buildings are labelled. Hostiles (that you know of) are marked up. Buildings offer a bonus to units engaging each other. Units in the same building gain no advantage.
>Choose a squad, pick which buildings you want them to go for, and pick a stance

Squads:
Anna, Stalkers, 9
Boris, Stalkers, 11
Vasily, Stalkers, 10
Fyodor, Freedom Marksmen, 7
Dmitri, Duty Exosuits, 8

Stances:
Aggressive (bonus to attacking)
Wary (less damage from ambushes)
Defensive (bonus against counter-attacks)

Freedom secure a good vantage point with one stalker squad Anna the north end of the middle structure should have a stairwell to the top floors where they can get good sight lines, duty take the other two and hit the mercs hard as they can, wait until freedom is in position to provide overwatch then push harder remind them no team killing
>>
>>30610831
Anna finish cleaning A, expect counter-attack from B so go defensive.

Vasily attack E, Aggressive.

Boris, watch the streets from current position, be in whatever cover is around, we want to restrict enemy movements.

Dmitri should move towards the side gate for a surprise attack with our heavy infantry, Boris can later move to enforce them.

Fyodor are good where they are, but change focus to any movement in B.

Within a few heartbeats, you've assessed the surroundings inside the compound fence. Vasa did a damned good job of recon for you, and you instinctively know where your men need to be. "Vasily, hold the road! Anna, clear that building and hunker down. Fyodor, move up and cover Vasily as best you can from there. Boris, take the building on the right and regroup with Vasa. Dmitri, get your asses in here with me!"
Everyone is quick to respond to your orders, thankfully. Even if they're not the best organised or trained, at least they can take instruction! A few moments later, Anna confirms they've got the last guy and are taking defensive positions. Vasily spread out ahead of you and take position just in time to engage a small team of merc rounding the corner ahead of you. One of them explodes into a shower of gore as he's hit by ten bursts of gunfire simultaneously. His buddies instantly dive for cover either side of the road and begin firing sporadically back at you.

This leaves the way clear for Boris to filter their way through the tight doorway into the building to your right.
There's nothing to do but wait now for Boris to shift power in your direction and flank the mercs. Or for them to attack you.
You flick your radio back to your secure channel and call out to Vasa, "Hey Vass, come in. You two alright? Where are you, what's going on?" You get no reply, but the chatter of gunfire and occasional scream from the building tells you that one of the two at least is still up. And angry. The next minute feels like an age, crouched behind the building as you are, listening to the chatter between the men calling out enemy positions and relaying who's firing at what, before Boris' team leader sounds off in your ear. "Contact, man down!"

OH! Shit man, okay I know what you're talking about now.

Can Boris do a defensive retreat back to our position, covered by Dmitri? If hostiles pursue, Anna can flank them from A.

Also we seem to have two Dmitris on the map now.
>>
>>30611365
Have Dimitri move between the Plant and E, moving aggressively. They can either flank the group of five or cut off reinforcements coming from F and G.

The group of nine should come out and advance to the left of the plant towards I to cover our flank.

Everyone else can sit tight and slug it out as they are.
>>
>>30611365
Vasily defensively enters E
Anna aggressively waits in ambush (yay oxymorons)

The windows of the left hand building past Anna light up with gunfire, raking Vasily's position. They seem to be surviving just fine though, hunkering down into heavier cover and cursing colorfully. You call out to Anna, telling them to hurry up and engage the road to take the heat off Vasily, but the team leader just shouts obscenities back at you, before explaining that he can't actually see the road from where they are inside the building, and there's no way through to the next building from here.
Unless they blow through the wall.
You tell them to just hold still for now instead, and order Vasily to break cover from the road and get into the building with Boris, and clear that damned building!

Vasily lead grumbles at you, before sprinting across the road and leaping bodily through one of the windows. The rest of the squad attempts to follow and mostly makes it, though one poor bugger takes a bullet to his ass cheeks, and another takes a round to his leg. The latter collapses into the road, managing a short cry for help before another burst of gunfire ends his short and miserable life.

The Duty squad is still standing around behind you, looking expectant, so you gesture at the gap between the plant and the building, and tell them to hurry up and make themselves useful.
The sergeant of the squad nods, and leads his men in a flashy-looking formation for the gap. With no more cover on this side, you nudge Sergei, "hey, let's set you up just here and look this way. Just incase they try to flank us." Sergei acknowledges and jogs across the road to set up his light machine gun to face the only hole in your formation.

It almost feels like you've got this organised! And then the reports come in...

Vasily have lost another man to the defenders inside their building before they managed to dig in properly, and are still being engaged by the mercs across the road, who are also splitting their fire to suppress Fyodor. Fyodor don't sound too happy about their position in the open, and a few are threatening to drop and leg it.
Dmitri just walked straight into a small ambush, but luckily their armor took the brunt of the damage. Boris has managed to clear the building and met up with "the little girl", but "the chick" is unconscious.
Anna are shouting at you that they're being useless where they are, and you shout back that they should shut up and wait for order.

Damn, organizing something like this is harder than you thought.

Regroup and retreat? I don't see a reason why we should stay and get farmed, we secured Loli and Vasa.

Fyodor defensively moves through main gate to take cover and engages the 2 enemies south of HQ
Anna aggressively pops out of cover and attacks the mercs moving south toward E
>>
>>30611838
Loli joins with Dmitri as they aggressively attack enemies to the east
HQ group aggressively fires at enemies to the south, takes cover at plant building
>>
>>30611838
Tell the group of eight to move up and support Dimitri.

The nine in E should split their attention to supress those in B and the five on the road.

The nine in A get out and have some take cover behind the corner of B while the rest move up to E and finally the ones taking cover move up to E as well.

Now both groups of nine can enage from cover and take the heat off the seven outside while the ambush group is cleaned up.
>>
>>30611838
Get Fyodor through the gate, engage the 5-person hostile squad from afar.

Anna will be horribly exposed if they leave their position right now, but as soon as Fyodor gets on the case they should be able to move to our position.

Vasily holds their position, be defensive as fuck, Boris can aid Dmitri for a quick cleanup. Enter E once Anna can take our position, we need whatever intel we can get from Loli and to see to Vass.

"Fyodor, don't you dare run! Push up through the gate to me. Anna, use smokes if you got 'em, cover Fyodor and them both of you get to my position." That should handle that. As for the others...
A rattle of gunfire takes you by surprise, and you drop to the floor next to Sergei as he suddenly opens up, spraying the road ahead. Two mercs that you hadn't even noticed fall in the hail of bullet, and Sergei cranes his neck to give you a smug grin.

"Boris, tell the little girl to get outside and help the big guys." There's a short pause as you can hear him relaying the instruction to Loli, followed by a surprised yelp and a crash of glass. Almost simultaneously, Dmitri chimes in with a report of a new contact from above. The next few seconds is inaudible as his squad members all call out at once in shock, horror and disbelief. After you've managed to shut them all up, the sergeant sheepishly informs you that the ambush team is no more, and that they've joined up with GiltinÄ—.

Boris and Vasily start firing back at the two buildings to their north, and you're content to let them carry on as you plan up how to clear them out.
You were pretty certain that Vasa reported Kiyiya to be pretty much on top of her location before she went silent, but you have no idea where he could be now...

>Orders?
>>
>>30612383
Kiyiya is the main target, and he is crafty enough to hide in wait just to take Vasa out, we cannot leave her there unconscious
A member of Boris' squad should take Vasa to HQ
>>
>>30612383
The plant is highly dangerous as it is a very large building with practically no intel. Anna should defensively scope it out.
>>
>>30612425
Supporting this until we have a more encompassing plan. I just want Loli and Vasa to survive this mess.
>>
>>30612383
Anna, cautiously enter the plant, we need intel.

Dmitri, nade the group to your left, use the confusion to charge into F and clear it out. Your heavy armor is there to be used after all.
>>
>>30612383
Fyodor should draw attention to the group of 5 to the east while Dmitri and Loli flank and eliminate, afterwards moving to F; however Dmitri and Loli MUST be very careful about being flanked from F, Plant, and the street between them
>>
>>30612383
Have Dimitri engage the force from F and instruct Loli to break off to clean up the forces on the road with Fyodor's support.

Have Anna enter the plant and look around, they can't do much to directly help the fighting anyways.

Have HQ to move up with them so they can watch the door to the plant and keep an eye on the road facing I.
>>
>>30612425
To further this, they should move through E and leave through the south entrance, while Anna waits to cover. After Vasa gets to HQ, Anna and the member of Boris' team moves to scope the Plant; no need for him to run all the way back to the front lines.
>>
>>30612496
Armour or not, I'll bet a million to one there's a force sitting by watching the road in ambush. I don't want to risk losing them if we don't have to.
>>
>>30612425
I'd rather have one member from Anna break off to fetch her, they aren't in combat right now so they can better spare a stalker.
>>
>>30612599
Hm, maybe too reckless with our current intel yea. I want news on the plant before moving them, for now stick to flanking the group to their left.
>>
>>30612599
This, armor does not mean invincible, even with Loli. Street between Plant and F is very dangerous, not to mention there could be enemies garrisoned inside of G.
>>
>>30612633
Again, I think Dimitri should focus on engaging to approaching group from F while Loli alone flanks. She's worth a squad on her own and excels up close rather then in a firefight.
>>
>Dropping out for like, 10 minutes! You have an extra 10 minutes to make an overarching plan for ultimate success! Use it well!
>>
A thought, what if the two enemies Sergei dispatched were part of a larger force hiding in H?
>>
>>30612662
That can work. B, C could turn their attention towards her which would mean trouble but hell, a group that isn't expecting her, with no evil dice since we're not controlling her? She can probably do it pretty fast. And if that group goes down, maybe Boris can also get us intel on the road between plant and F. We need intel badly.
>>
Okay.

>Anna scopes out the plant very cautiously
>Dimitri greets the group from F with gunfire
>Loli and Fyodor fuck up the five on the road
>Someone (from Boris or Anna?) carries Vasa to HQ squad
>HQ, Vasily, Boris, and Fyodor hold position and continue to exchange fire with the enemy

>>
>>30612834

Well Boris shouldn't be taking that peek, they're engaged at the moment and they'd walk right into Dmitri's fire. Dmitri might have a chance at it, but tell not to get killed for it.

You thank Boris, then turn to the stalkers next to you. "Alright you guys, get through that door there, and tell me what's inside. Do it careful though, we have no idea what's in there."

"You got it." Anna readies themselves, tense looks on their faces, before they advance quickly to the door.

"Dmitri, is Loli still with you?"

"Yes, ma'am. Still here."

"Good. Ask her to take out the guys to your left. Try to cover her as best you can, but watch out for any flankers yourself."

"You got it." The raucous report of their heavy weapons kicks up again as they begin to spray their surroundings. You also toss an instruction to Fyodor to keep engaging the road to keep their attention, and a few moments later they confirm that Loli is among them. Well, less reporting and more whoops and cheers as she tears her way through the rear of the squad. And then a "ooooooh". Wait, what was that for?

So, we move Fyodor into E, shuffle Boris to Dimitri's postion, then have Dimitri and Loli get into D with smoke covering the road.

Something like this alright?

"DMITRI! Smokes out, NOW! Get GiltinÄ—, get to the buildings to your north and clear these bastards out already! DO IT NOW!" An affirmative, and the world is suddenly filled with smoke as every member of the Duty team starts dropping smoke grenades through the streets. In short order, they've crossed the street, clear the last man and grabbed Loli. The defenders of the northern buildings are quickly thrown into disarray as they press hard into their flanks. Perfectly in their element now, the Duty squad can simply advance through the narrow passages, soak up the small-arms fire where needed and lay down massive firepower, tearing through the cover.

As soon as the fire is taken off the streets, you pull the Freedom snipers to your position, telling them to cover the south road. They quickly start opening fire, telling you they can see movement at the corner. Just a few men for now, and you're well out of effective range. They're in Fyodor's though.

You nod, then order Boris to get across the smoked road. They make it half way across before you hear the sound of a grenade going off, and a few screams on the radio. Damnit, the defenders just started blind-firing into the smoke, thinking it was a cover for an attack on their building!

As you're thinking how to react to the new problem, Bubbles appears behind you and gently places Vasa's unconscious form against the wall next to you. She's got some bad bruising on her face, but you're pretty sure she'll be fine.

And barely has this thought passed your mind when Anna's radio channel is suddenly engulfed in the screams of the anguished and the dying.

"CONTACT! OH GOD! GET 'EM, KILL HIM!"
"NO NO NO!"
"PLEASE N-AAAAH"
"FIRE, FIRE, TAKE HIM THE FUCK DOWN ALREADY, WH-GYAAAAAGH"

Let's see how long we last.
>>
>>30613748
HQ move into plant to assist Anna in a defensive retreat. That's all we have until Dmitri/Vasili has cleared B-C.
>>
>>30613748
I have no idea how to deal with him. We have to concentrate a fuckload of gunfire on him or nail the guy with and RPG, right? How do we do that?

Uh, tell any survivors from Anna to get out of there and focus on clearing out the grunts around. When Kiyaya's isolated, surrounded, and without support we could maybe blow up the plant around him or something. He won't step out of the place if the doors are all covered by a bunch of rifles.

Basically, just tell everyone to carry on, no change in plans other then Anna.
>>
>>30613748
Everyone do as they do. Tell Boris to back the fuck up away from anymore grenades while keeping a line of sight to F's doorway.

Have HQ move into the plant and direct Anna to retreat while we do the same.

Focus on killing all the bad guys like we are.
>>
>>30613914
We know where he is now. That was crucial info and now that we have it we can pull Anna back out, hopefully, and not have to worry about him popping out of nowhere.

You've got the intel you needed, now to get them out of there! Fyodor continues firing past you at the bad guys down the road as you grab Ice and Sergei and rush the door. "Anna, fall back! Get out of there!"

"FALL BACK, LADS! FALL-GEK" They're getting slaughtered in there! You manage to get far enough into the entrance to make out the forms of two of Anna squad running headlong back towards you. They're almost to you when something next to you clicks.
Ice yell beside you, "GET DOWN!" Sergei hits the deck, and Ice hits you, flattening the both of you to the floor as the distinctive BANG and whistle of a Claymore detonating overhead fills the air with lethal balls. Even amidst the shock of watching two men from Anna squad get reduced instantly into a cloud of gore, the only thing filling your mind is how close you came to being in that state, and the feel of Ice pinning you to the ground.
"Hey. Hey! You okay, Kris? KRIS!"

"Ah, yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. Let me up."

Apparently Kris-neechan wants everyone outside to spread out into a perimeter around the plant to keep the wolf guy stuck inside. One of the groups got really torn up just now, but Kris is personally trying to pull them up, and is still looking after Vasa, all while ordering everyone about! You're pretty impressed at her multitasking, but you're not sure her idea of how to kill people is all that good.

You reload your 'Empy five', or whatever Vasa called it, and get ready to move out again. The big guys are now saying they're going to go in from the other door and lead the rest of the squishier guys through any traps and ambushes. With the way they managed to rush these buildings and only lost two guys, you don't doubt they can do it.
Still, wolf guy is in there...

You decide to stick with the group as they head out of the building and down the road. They pretty much ignore the gunfire ripping up the road from the building on your left. One of the big guys stops just long enough to unsling a launcher from his back and fire it at the window above the entrance. The gunfire suddenly stops, and the men cowering on your right take the chance to run for the door into the big building ahead that your group is jogging towards.

You keep pace as best you can, though it's difficult with the pain in your chest. Every time you take a deep breath, the bruises on your chest sting badly but you try to ignore it and keep going.
And then you're inside the big building.

It's pretty barren. Besides some offices and catwalks off to the left, the only thing of note in the big empty building is the military helicopter that has apparently fallen through the roof and covered most of the room in rubble. There's enough rubble to hide a man essentially anywhere though, and early time of day, there's no daylight shining through the hole in the roof. Most of the men with you quickly start switching their flashlights on.

[ ]Stick to the back of the group. Wait and see what happens.
[ ]Move to the front, find out what's going on.
[ ]Move off to the left. Those offices look interesting.

Why'd we come into the plant? Wouldn't it make more sense to retrieve the breaching charges on the gate and plant them along a wall outside first? It wouldn't bring the whole place down, but it's damn better then having everyone shuffle through the doors.

That stuff on the left looks awful interesting. You decide that it definitely needs checking out. But you can't go alone in situations like this. "Hey, you," you nudge the nearest of the big red guys. "Kneel down a second." He tilts his head in confusion, but does so. As soon as he's low enough, you leap onto his shoulders and steady yourself.

"Eh, AH! What the Hell?!"

"Woooah, boy! Steady, horsey. There's a good horsey." He finds his balance and stands up straight again.

"Seriously, what the He-"

"THAT WAY!" you hiss in his ear, pointing at the offices. He seems to reluctantly accept his lot in life as your new steed, and begins slowly trekking away from the group. You're only a few yards from the officer door, the other side of the building, when you hear the scream. Spinning your head about at the same time your steed does, you barely get a glimpse of the flash of movement as a shadow erupts from behind one of the ruined pillars and slashes its way through the group of men. A few of them panic-fire, only succeeding in gunning up shadows, and you see two corpses fall, missing their faces. At seeing their friends reduced so fast, a few quickly panic, and flee towards the door they came in by. A click, and a small booby trap detonates near the doorway, instantly reducing them to mush as their agonized screams echo through the hangar.

Followed by a malicious laughter that's all too familiar.

Welp. I must congratulate you guys. I was expecting at least 40% casualty rate before you made it to the plant.
Then again, it also would've been perfectly possible to make it with zero losses.
Still, you did better than expected! Even if you did get Loli shotgunned in the chest by ordering her to charge a dug-in group over-watched by two other dug-in squads.

The RTS thing was a fun little experiment for me. I hope you guys enjoyed it. Don't think I'll be doing to again any time soon, though. That was damned hard to write at a reasonable pace.

Turn-based strategies don't inflict penalties if you can't come to a decision before the enemy does.
The reason I imposed the time limit was that if you couldn't form something that I could turn into a coherent response in time, your troops would have done nothing and suffered a massive combat penalty that turn.
As it is, you guys managed to get something I could turn into an order just in time each time.

Nat. 1 on a combat check, followed by 2 nat 20's on the following rolls for that combat.
Passing an equal amount of "Don't get lost" checks as failing.

Rolling normally on all raids.
Passing the combat checks with high rolls in the recent raid, but then failing badly once. Followed by high rolls to finish the combat.

And then the spewing of 3 nat 1's just to throw off the balance again.

Don't worry, I did check it out. I just didn't think it was worth commenting on the mediocrity of it all.
Let Chief have some fun at least!

Aww ;-;
>>
>>30616156
There's been a few dreams of the past, and occasional calling for them when she was badly hurt. She probably does miss them, but doesn't want to go home.

From the glimpses we've seen in dreams, my speculation would be that, aside from being bored every hour of the day except the ones where she was scared over them fighting with each other, part of her motivation for running away is the classical child blaming themself for parents fighting. The argument we witnessed did have her as a main subject after all, and children seem to be likely to assume something is their fault. So, in their mind, the logical solution is to run away and poof, parents will be happy again. Not exactly what happens, but what do you expect from a child?

But that's just speculation on my end and I'd hate to give you wrong ideas.
