You obey and hand over your phone- she immediately opens the browser and brings up a picture to show you. "Germans came up with it near the end of the war- they were going to mount it on the Panzer V as a way to conserver gasoline supplies... The side benefit was that it weighed less and produced roughly twice the horsepower of the old HL230's-"

You are Commander Russells of the M26E1 Pershing Heavy Tank "Black Jack" and you stare at Yukari and hold up a hand before she goes off on a tangent. "Wait... Don't turbine engines have the fuel efficiency of- uh..." You look down not having a good comparison. "They don't get good mileage, right?"

Miho speaks up. "Yes, but they use kerosene- a lot less expensive and easier to produce than gas." She shakes her head. "I think we should concentrate on finding the B2- It won't be long until our next battle and I don't want the new team to have to bring the I-Go into the field."

Yukari nods. "Agreed- not that we can do much practice right now." She gestures behind her- most of the tanks were still in various states of disrepair after the weekend's match against Saunders University Highschool. "We should prioritize finding new tanks..."

so /k/ripple, if we changed out the engine on the king tiger, we would have a spike of top speed/acceleration at the cost of endurance/range? as tempting as that might be, it may not be wise. the last thing we want is for it to run dry as we hit a long running match.

KT's big issue was the drivetrain, much moreso than the engine.

The Turbine would be much more useful on a Panther.

Though, if we're being mercenary, we could sell the Turbine to a school or collector in exchange for mad dosh or another tank.

Given the unique and complex drivetrain on the Porche, it would be both impractical and not worth the effort.

I'm not sure you quite appreciate the scale of the conversion required to fit one if these things into a tank designed for a conventional piston engine.

Yukari just wants a new tank to gush over- but she's right. The team needs new tanks. But she's got a more important job. "Yukari- Yuzu needs help with all the documentation- she knows there's a B2 somewhere, but she hasn't been able to find out where..." You put a hand on her shoulder. "I need you and Hippoy Team to go help her- otherwise the rest of us are working blind."

Yukari smiles brightly before saluting smartly. "You can count on us, Commander! We'll let you know when we've found something!" She turns on her heal and double-times toward's the still-battered-looking StuG.

"Think they'll find anything?" Miho asks, watching her loader go follow orders. "What if it was 'irrecoverably lost'?"

"Well, there was that other tank she mentioned- the Chi-something?" You say with a bit less relish- Japanese tanks had a bit of a reputation for being heaps- even their late-war marks were roughly on-par with a early-war Shermans.

Miho nods grimly- she knows as well as you do. "Chi-Nu." She shrugs. "So what do we do while they do their search?"

You look around the hanger at everyone working. "Well, not much we can do out there." You shrug. "We'd just be running around in circles getting lose anyway..." You sigh- there's nothing you hate more than doing nothing. It makes you antsy and gets you into trouble, more often than not. "We gotta do something."

"Hana told me about a really good pizza restaurant that opened recently..." Miho says exploratorily with a shrug. "I think the team could use some dinner, right?"

"Think Anzu will pick up the tab?" You say- as a highschool student you don't exactly have open funds to order pizza for over thirty people.

"She will if we don't let her know that she's doing it." She looks around innocently. "We'll just have them bill the Student Council." Miho often surprises you with her deviousness- she seems like such a sweet girl most of the time.

"I suppose she wouldn't... Can you get their number?" You say with a grin.

Miho smiles innocently. "I'll go ask Hana!" She says before walking back towards Anko-san, as some of the crews had taken to calling it. You've got a some time- what to do, though?

Remembering yesterday's... interesting date with Miho, you head towards the Lee- The automotive team were already working to patch it up, replacing the heavily damaged side plate. "Hey, Ayumi!" You say, casually strolling up the Lee's 75mm gunner. You give a polite wave and smile widely. "Hey, can I ask you a question?"

She smiles and bows politely. "Commander Russells! What did you need to know?" You can practically feel the gossip ready to flow.

"Well, Saori and Richard created some... problems last night." You say politically. "The details aren't important but... If we were to exact some sort of prank on them, how much is too much?" You do your best to look concerned. "I mean- some of the stuff Miho is talking about..." You close your eyes and shudder a bit. "I just... I don't want to break them, you know?"

Ayumi looks at you with concern. "W-what was she planning?" She says, looking back and forth behind you.

"I don't want to trouble you with the details but... I just didn't know Miho could be that resourceful with superglue..." You pause for effect- and are rewarded by a fearful look in the freshman girl's eyes. "You know what? It's not important- I'm sure Miho will know when to stop. I just hope that it's before..." You pause again. "I'll see if I can talk to Miho about it before she goes overboard..."

Seeds successfully planted- Enjoy the next couple of days, Richard.

Next on the itinerary- The Public Morals Committee. They aren't hard to find- having gravitated towards the Lee in order to inform Hoshino that wearing her mechanic's jumpsuit with the top half tied around her waist was against regulations and that, for her protection, she should wear it properly in the future.

You decide to interrupt this before they get chased out of the hanger. You whistle loudly, immediately grabbing their attention- Aya who had just come around the side of the Lee as you did walked back wiggling her finger in her ear painfully. "Hey! New girls!" You say. "Time to get you guys set up! You look over at Hoshino. "Is the I-Go fueled?"

She nods and you turn back to Midoriko. "Alright, you three follow me..." You say, heading off towards the Black Jack.

"Commander- the I-Go is over there." Nozomi says quietly pointing towards the I-Go.

You smile a bit to yourself before turning back to the gaggle of similar looking girls. "Yep- just going to go get my specialist." Richard was going to hate this. He was going to hate it a lot.

You were going to love it.
