It feels like it should be later in the day. So much has happened. You look to your left and there's Robin holding Eevee. To your right is Vance, holding Cranidos in his arms like a puppy.

Out of curiosity, you take out your Pokedex for the Pokemon you had a triple battle with.

"Beartic, the Ice Bear Pokemon. People without artist talent can draw them blinking in a snowstorm."

"Monferno, the Fighting Ape. It's most notable quality is that it's not Chimchar and it's not Infernape."

"Dodrio, the Democracy Pokemon. It's three heads often bicker endlessly about which one belongs in it's own rectum."

There's still a little time left in the day. You'll still have plenty of time tomorrow morning, but you don't think your friends will mind stopping early considering how draining today was.

You eventually find a small clearing near a shallow stream. As everyone is unpacking for the night, Robin gives your hand a quick squeeze. She flashes you a smile, but can't keep eye contact when she does it and continues to help get things ready for the night. Just a small reminder that she likes you.

Vance puts on a stew and announces it will be a little while. "It's worth it though," he promises, "good for you too! It'll put hair on your chest." You hope not!

Robin releases Magikarp into the nearby stream, and lets Vulpix out by the water. Vance joins her and lets Cranidos out.

You casually take out Nibbles. He looks around, gives a roar to Cranidos, then looks up at you expectantly. You remember you bought some small toys awhile back and take out out of her bag. It's a chewing toy shaped like a Metapod. "You like that Nibbles?" He chews it harder and tries to protect his new toy from anyone else who might see it.

Speaking of which, you let all of your Pokemon out except for Leviathan and spread around some of the toys. You know them well enough to assume they won’t cause any trouble. Devon contently chews a different toy, Trunks wanders from Pokemon to Pokemon trying to make friends, Destiny hangs out in the water with Robin’s Magikarp, and Raistlin starts telekinetically throwing toys for Devon, who drops his current toy and chases with his usual energy.

You give him a few minutes, then ask him to show what he knows. With Robin’s Pokedex, you’re able to identify Roar, Stomp, Stealth Rock, Bite, and your favorite, Charm. There might be some more in there, but you haven’t studied enough to identify them on your own.

Vance goes back to stirring the stew while Cranidos repeatedly nudges his ankles playfully. There’s still a little sunlight left, but it’ll be fading fast.

That means time to get to know Leviathan, your Gyarados!

Robin looks at you playing with the Pokeball apprehensively. That’s right, she’s completely afraid of Gyarados.

Robin's eyes are so trained on your Pokeball that she doesn't realize you're staring at her. She snaps out of it when she's sprayed by a splash from Destiny and Magikarp.

Maybe this is a good chance to help her out too. "Want to help me train Levi?"

She hesitates. "I-I-I don't know..." She thinks on it. Magikarp looks up to her from the water. "Oh.... I'll do it. Just...be patient with me, OK?"

You nod. Of course. You turn to shout to Vance. "We're just going to do some training a little bit down the stream, we'll be back soon."

Vance waves. "Sure. Yeah. Enjoy your 'training!'" Before you can get a comeback for that, he ends up distracted by Cranidos again. Robin, true to form, didn't catch what he said.

The two of you go a little further downstream after Robin retrieves her Magikarp. The trees are thick, but stop suddenly several meters away from the stream.

Robin waits in the treeline. "I'll uhh, come out in a minute. Just go ahead and start without me."

You don't coax her out. She can take her time. You release Leviathan into the stream and step back. You almost forget how huge she is.

Levi takes in her surroundings, putting on a show to act unimpressed with the small stream. She looks at you, waiting. It's not a look asking for guidance that you'd get from Trunks or Devon, but a look that's more curious as to what you're bothering her for.

You reach into your bag and pull out a toy. It's a green Pokemon, but you don't know which one.

"Want the toy? Want the toy?" You try to wave it in front of her and get her psyched up. Her eyes follow it, but she doesn't move. "Here you go!" You toss it up to her mouth so she can catch it. It bounces off her face.

You bend over to pick it up. "Come on girl! All the other Pokemon know how to play. Just give it a chance." You toss it up again, this time she catches it, and crushes it in her mouth. It turs out there was a horn-sounding noise maker inside of it. The sound of the horn dying out puncuates the awkward situation.

You glance back at Robin quickly. She's scared. She's not stepping out, but she's not actively hiding or leaving either.

"Alright Levi. I guess that toy was a little small for you anyway. How about a snack?" She perks up. That got her attention! You toss up a small bit of the Pokemon food from before. She chomps this out of the air, but not in a displeased way. Levi dips her nose down to you, trying to see if you have more in your hand.

"Oh no. First you need to do something. I want to see you use Dragon Rage on those trees over there first." You point in the exact opposite direction that Robin is in.

Levi looks back to the trees, then to you again. Instead of using the attack, she tries to fish the food from your hands. She's gentle enough to avoid biting or hurting you, but strong enough to show she means business. "Levi! Stop! No!" You try to get her to back off, but her massive tongue gets all over your hand and you open it reflexivly when her breath washes over you.

Damn it! Leviathan looks at you, wanting more. Instead, you go to your backup plan, and take out your flute. She pulls her head back trying to figure out what you're doing, and also trying to display her displeasure that you don't have any more food in your hands.

You begin to play. Leviathan watches you intently, showing little emotion. Eventually she lays down. The small stream is washing over the rear half of her body, but the front half rests on the land. Her eyes slowly droop closed.

It's hard to see if she's awake or just ignoring you, but she doesn't do anything when you stop playing.

You walk up and scratch her behind the ears. Leviathan lets a purring noise, but keeps her eyes closed. You see Robin watching from the treeline.

"It's alright. Why don't you come over?"

She slowly makes her way out of the treeline, squinting at the sun in her eyes. Carefully, cautiously, she stands beside you. She's visibly shaking, but she stays.

You take her hand. It's soft and almost vibrating. You place it on the spot behind Leviathans ears. "Scratch." you instruct.

Leviathan stirs and gives a grunt of approval, but it scares Robin and she jumps back. Levi's eyes shoot open, and on seeing Robin, a new face, she raises her head.

Robin stumbles backwards. Levi smiles wickedly, seeing a person rightfully react so scared of her. She puffs herself up and roars at the sky. Robin is paralyzed in fear.

"Leviathan, stop! Just stay still for a minute!" Leviathan doesn't listen, instead, she roars again, louder. She seems very pleased with Robin's awe of her might. "Fine," You yell. "If you want to show off, then let me see your Dragon Rage on those trees!"

Levi lifts an eyebrow up at your challenge, then turns around. Robin takes the chance to scramble behind you, but she watches Leviathan demolish a tree with her might.

Levi looks back to you, wanting to see your reaction. Robin's hands are pulling your shirt tightly as she hides behind you.

In the distance, you hear Vance yelling that dinner is on.

Your eyes meet Leviathan's. She wants a response.

Her last look before you take her back almost seems like that hurt her feelings. Good, she needs a reality check, and nobody pushes Robin around like that.

"I'm sorry," you and Robin say in unison.

You both stop and look at each other before continuing. There's a small laugh "Why are you sorry?" You ask first. She'll just insist you go first a whole lot anyway.

Robin looks at her feet. "She probably would have listened if I didn't freak out."

That brings you to your apology. "Robin, don't. I'm sorry for pushing you-"

She stops. "You didn't push me. I came because I wanted to. You don't have anything to apologize for."

"You don't either," you say. "Levi is just a little proud. She needs to obey no matter what. If anything that helped me figure her out more."

You can see her smiling. "Thanks," you both say in unison again.

Dinner is everything Vance promised and more. It’s an oral orgasm. You scarf it down relax by the fire for a bit before you see Vance and Robin are getting ready for bed. The cool air rolling off the mountains sends a shiver across your skin. It’s going to be a cold night.

You decide not to try anything funny. At least for today. You set up your tent next to Robin and Vance's, and have all of your Pokemon inside except for Leviathan.

"Wow! Big enough? You could fit both of our tents inside there," Vance comments. You give him a shushing gesture. "Maybe another night, but tonight I just want to work on trust."

Vance gives you a weird look. You pull him aside and explain the situation. "Oh! That makes a lot more sense." He gives you a friendly pat on the back. "I'm happy you're both taking this seriously. Let me know if you need anything from me."

That's a nice gesture. You have other things on your mind. Robin is surveying your tent. "Looks sturdy." She comments. She seems almost surprised that you actually did set it up. You can't really take offence.

She leans over and kisses you on the lips. You lean in yourself and turn it from a quick peck to a slow, longing, moaning kiss. She blushes as it slowly breaks. You just bite your lip and look her in the eyes until she breaks. "G-good night!" She scurries into her tent.

Vance looks at you, arms folded. "You're awful, you know that, right?"

You roll your eyes and walk passed him. "Like you both didn't enjoy that." You crawl into your own tent and snuggle with your Pokemon. It doesn't smell nearly as good, but it was an emotionally draining day, and you slip into a deep sleep quickly.

The next morning is great. Once you're free of the pile of Pokemon on top of, and under you, you stretch. You feel fantastic.

Robin and Vance are making breakfast. Robin looks terrible.

Your eyes run up and down her backside. Correction. She looks good, but she looks like she feels terrible. She sleepily hands you a plate.

You sit next to Robin. "Trouble sleeping?" You keep your voice neutral.

She yawns. "Mphbl."

Vance hands you and her each a cup of some sort of tea. After a few sips she answers you. "I don't know why. I guess I just got used to..." She trails off. "Probably just all the excitement yesterday."

You see a skeptical look on Vance's face that probably mirrors your own. He looks up from your tea. "It's alright if you had a bad dream. We won't make fun of you."

Robin intently sips her tea. "Well, I remember having a dream. You were there," she gestures to you. "Lets see, we were just hanging out and..." Her eyes go wide. "Nope. No nightmares." She shakes her head, fighting off some sort of mental image.

Vance keeps his eyes on her. "Robin. It's fine, really."

Robin turns her usual shade of red. "...I didn't have any nightmares." She stares at the ground. "Shouldn't we be training? Let's do some training."

You haven't had a training session with Vance for awhile. While it's supposed to help him improve his martial arts, you feel there's a lot he can learn from Pokemon too. Plus you sort've want to train your Pokemon too. Maybe you can do both.

You and Vance move to a slightly larger clearing to do some training. Robin stays by the fire and yawns as she lazily directs her Pokemon.

Vance starts doing some pushups as his usual morning routine.

"How are things with Sneasel?" You crawl onto his back and sit cross legged as he excercises.

"We haven't really interacted much yet. I wanted to make sure Ursaring and I had an understanding first. You saw that, right? How she was listening during that match?" You nod. He's clearly proud. "I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing first with Ursaring. I feel a lot more confident now. I'll use that experience with Sneasel, since he seemed like he has a troublemaker streak. I do feel a little bad though, I've given Cranidos more attention even though I got Sneasel first."

"How about we have a sparring match?"

He stops and looks at you. "No offense Kat. You look like you're in decent shape and all, but..."

You nudge him in the back. "I meant between our Pokemon. How about Cranidos against Nibbles?"

You grab onto his back as he gets up. "Alright, but I want to keep exercising too."

Sure, fine. You can do both. You both release your Pokemon and he crawls up a tree and starts doing pull-ups. You jump up and grab his legs, trying to do the occasional pull-up yourself. You thought it'd be awkward, but it's working surprisingly well.

Cranidos and Tyrunt stare at each other. They start making noises, and take on a battling stance. They really do have a rivalry.

Vance yells down. "Alright guys. This will just be a sparring match Don't get too rough."

You hang from Vance's feet. "Ready?"

He keeps doing pull-ups. He won't stop any time soon. "Ready."

Rising and falling while you hang onto Vances legs makes it harder to concentrate, but it's fun. Besides, this is a sparing match.

You both have a simple strategy. Cranidos moves first though. You take a note of it's speed as a small aura of power engulfs him.

Nibbles closes the distance and bites Cranidos. It's clear that Cranidos felt that, but he pushes away from Tyrunt and still looks undeterred.

"I hope you have a good plan," Vance says. "Cranidos can hit really, really hard." He turns his attention back to the field. "Cranidos! Use Take Down! Remember that it's a friendly match though!" he adds.

He shouldn't get too cocky. "Nibbles! Charm!"

Nibbles gives a poses and a smile. His brazen attitude in the middle of the fight throws Cranidos off. Cranidos continues to charge though, and lands an attack dead on.

It knocks Nibbles off his feet. He gets up, changing his charming smile to an impressed, challenged one.

That kept things from going badly right away, but you'll need a strategy to win this. You need something outside the box. Then again, this is more to teach Vance something than a match you need to win.

"Cranidos! Take Down again!" Cranidos charges after Nibbles.

Perfect! Nibbles is standing right in front of a tree. "Dodge it Nibbles! Then use Stealth Rock!" He tries to hop out of the way, but he's not fast enough to do both. He lays down a layer of rocks in front of him after Cranidos passes by.

Vance stops doing pull ups. "I don't get it. I thought that only works on new Pokemon when they come into the field."

You drop from his feet. "Umm. That's right! But look! Nibbles used it on his own side of the field. Now if Cranidos comes near him, he'll get hit." You have no idea if that's true. Worse, you have no idea if Vance knows that's true either.

Vance drops down beside you. "Are you sure? I mean, I could see that working if there was more distance between them, but they're not that far apart."

You need to come up with something. "You got me! It won't work. But that was my real strategy."

He strokes his imaginary beard. "...Making things up?"

You slap him on the back. "Exactly! My Stealth Rocks strategy wouldn't work on a field this small, but look at us. We've stopped the fight to talk about it. If I were a more underhanded trainer, I'd take advantage of your hesitation and attack while you were distracted, or run away."

His strokes his beard. "Oooooooh. I see, it's mind games. The whole thing was to distract me."

"Sure, yeah." You lie through your teeth. At least it's a useful lesson to him, and that was the point after all.

You retrieve your Pokemon and head back to the camp. Robin is finishing training her Vulpix.

She smiles when she sees you approach. "Did you two have a good session?"

Vance starts packing up the camp. "I think so. I'm learning a lot more about fights than I even considered."

Repacking your tent takes a long time. It's big. Making it fit back in the bag is tough with your tired arms.

Your thoughts are interrupted as you see someone. You were hoping to find a battle. This could be great.

She's tall, fit, blonde, and carrying a backpack full of something heavy looking. She heads directly for your group. You get excited when you see a few Pokeballs on her belt. "Oh hey! Are you guys heading to the festival?"

You thought she was going to challenge you. You step forward "Festival?

She reaches into her bag and hands you a flyer. "Yeah! Every year. You should come. It's loads of fun."

A thought occurs to you. You give her a skeptical look. “So this is basically a ploy to get free labor, isn’t it?”

The girl laughs. “That’s pretty much how it started, years back. A berry farmer had a huge harvest and nobody to pick it. He turned it into a contest and offered prizes, fed volunteers, that sort of thing. The next year, more people showed up, and it evolved into an annual festival.”

She smiles. "Oh? Why didn't you say so! How does two Pokemon each sound?" She also pitches a flat, medium sized bet. "My name's Laura, by the way." She sounds confident in her abilities.
