You're in a dark alley in the artisan's district of Tianna.

In front of you, five pirate-y ruffians in mismatched armor and unhealthy-looking weapons. Not to mention gills, webbed fingers, one of them has a tentacle per arm, stuff like that.
They just lit the fuses on three barrels. You have no idea what's inside them, but it can't be good.

Oh, and they have two Blood-Ape demons.

Behind you, Tia, one of the Lunars that you invited in Tianna for some diplomacy tonight. She's been staring at you since the first minute she's seen you. You can't really decipher with what emotion, though... but it seems she barely noticed the Lintha about to blow up stuff.

Further behind, Tianna's Main Street. Queen Amata is there, accompanying the other two Lunars up to the castle and hoping this very tense diplomatic meeting doesn't turn into a bloody mess.

And there's also the matter of the shadowy figure that drew your attention to this alley in the first place. Where has he gone?

"Finally." Hisses Tia, blissfully unaware of all your problems right now. "Finally, I've found you."

Seizing the opportunity, the Lintha release the lit barrels, and they roll down the alley towards you, picking up speed, leaving a trail of smoke behind.

>Who are we?
Maka, an exiled noble recently Exalted as a Zenith. She's in the western city of

Tianna as a guest of queen Amata (DB), an old friend. Abyssals are targeting the

city for conquest, Lintha pirates have infiltrated it with spies and agents, and

half the island is controlled by paranoid lunars. Fun times.

>DB? Zenith? I don't know Exalted...
This quest is as newbie-friendly as possible, and I want it to work as a newbie's

intro to Exalted. If you have ANY question, ask in thread. For the setting, google

"1d4chan exalted".

>Archive?
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=zenith

>System?
Dicepool-like system. When performing an action, everyone rolls 1d10 when posting.

the first X rolls are considered, where X is equal to attribute + ability. Yes,

this means that the more people are posting, the stronger Maka is, up to a limit of

her attribute + ability.

>XP?
Attributes cost [current score x5] xp. Abilities cost [current score x3] xp, except

Zenith costing [(current score x3) -1]. Charms cost 10 xp, except for Zenith-based

charms (related to charisma and physical/mental fortitude) which cost 8 xp. At the

end of every "session" (thread) you will be presented with a list of possible

acquisitions.

The basic jist of the idea we want to get across perfectly is something along the lines of, 'Saving the queen and the diplomats is our number one priority, and it should be yours too!'

They're First Circle Demons. That's as close to Extras as demons ever get - they're roughly equivalent to the skeleton cannon fodder or mortal ghosts, in terms of their overall power tier. They have some hefty physical strength, of course, but they should still just be powerful extras.

Phys + Night: 3 5 1 8 7 = 2 successes

With no time to form a proper plan in your head, you act on instinct, planting your feet and preparing yourself.

The barrels thunder towards you, and after a frighteningly long couple of seconds, impact.

You expected them to be a lot lighter. Whatever they're filled with, must be heavy as heck, and... a liquid? You hear a sloshing sound as the three containers smack against one another, as you hold the first one of the file. The impact pushed you a few steps back, but you managed to stop all three.

They're too heavy to just simply toss back, at least without using your strength-increasing power. You hear, faintly, a heavily accented "Blast! She stop'd 'em!", and a "Good enuff! Lookit 'er blow!".

You glance worriedly at the fuses to gauge how much time you have left, to find out that two of them have been cut. A knife is embedded in the ground next to you, and the severed fuses are burning out harmlessly next to it.

You glance up to the roofs. The dark shadow you saw earlier is there, a brilliant knife in hand, carefully lining up the next shot to sever the last fuse before it reaches the barrel.

"Tia!" You call out to her, keeping your eyes ahead.
Before you can add anything, you feel her approach you from behind, way too close. You feel her breath on your nape.

"...what." You can only comment, as the Lunar gives a little bite to the the side of your neck. You feel a sharp pain for a second, and then her licking up a few drops of your blood.

Solar hero style. Run and then walljump over the fucks to get to the fuse. Once there defensive fighting while yanking the fuse out. Do not get surrownded. Circle them and keep mobile
>>
"...It's really you." She whispers in your ear. A stone-cold tone of voice you'd normally only associate with hardened psychopaths.

[Essence spent. 4/5]

"...TIA! LATER! LINTHA NOW!!" You scream at her, and by the way she jolts, you can only imagine your sudden shout has shaken her out of some sort of trance. You've barely finished saying "now", that she immediately replies "YES!" and leaps over you and all three barrels, on a collision course with a very confused Lintha squad.

Things are getting too weird and too much is happening simultaneously to start asking question. You look up. The shadow on the rooftop throws his knife at the last fuse.

(Phys + Night: 8 7 9 4 10 = 5 successes)

The flying blade flashes past you, severing the burning barrel in half and stabbing the ground with a dull *thunk*.

From ahead of you you hear sounds of fighting and screaming. Now that there's no more fire and you can be a bit rougher, you push the barrels aside, into a small side-alley where they won't roll down into Main Street, and rush ahead, letting Essence flow into and through your body. You feel your reflexes accelerate and your fighting instincts sharpen.

[Esence spent. 3/5]

One of the Lintha is already on the ground, decapitated, you can imagine, by a slash of Tia's sword, who you catch sight of as she plows it through a second pirate's chest. Blood sprays all over her as she, rather than pull the blade out, just slashes upwards, severing the man in two vertically from the ribcage up.

That leaves two Lintha and two demons. Where did the fifth Lintha go? No time to look for him: in the chaos, one of the Blood-Apes roars and launches itself at you, swinging with its massive, clawed arms.

You raise your right arm and intercept his swipe at the wrist, ducking your head under his massive claws still managing to reach you because this monster-thing's hands are HUGE.

You tune out the battle around you for a second, and the noise and chaos disappears quietly in the background. You can faintly see your golden castemark reflected in the creature's pitch-black eyes.

Your right hand, closed in a fist, impacts with the Blood-Ape's chin with a resounding noise. The blow lifts the massive demon off its feet and sends it flying through the air for about three meters.

Before it even lands, without turning around, you realize one of the Lintha is sneaking behind you, a long curved sword in hand, about to slash it horizontally into your waist.

Better Idea: How about we create a philosophy where there is a natural hierarchy that society is supposed to follow. It goes something like this:
Solar
Lunar/Sidereal
DB
Godblooded/Essence using mortals/Half-Castes
Mortals

However, by BEING AWESOME or ACTING LIKE A DICK you can get promoted or demoted from your starting position in the hierarchy. Queeny is an example of a really awesome DB, while the list of dicks is much longer, but includes: Every DB in the Realm, Bronze Faction, First age Solars

Or we could institute a system that isn't incredibly discriminatory and provokes an inevitable war.

Without even turning to looking behind, you move half a step to the side to give you an extra split-second before the sword connects with your torso.

You use that split-second to slam your right elbow into the Lintha's forehead.

A cracking noise and then he's propelled backwards. You hear the sound of him rolling on the ground as his momentum comes to a halt, and his sword clattering as it falls on the ground.

A quick look around confirms that there are no more Lintha. One has disappeared, all the others are lying to your feet, scattered here and there.
Tia is standing on the other demon's back, sword stabbed deeply in its spine, and the large monster is struggling and flailing around its arms, trying to reach her, and bashing its head into buildings in the process.

You turn back to your old friend, who stands up groggily from the ground. There are three throwing knives stabbed in its chest, so deeply that only the hilt and handle are jutting out.

Yeah, there are ways to object to the Realm without inventing some sort of heirarchy of worth.

Getting the three lunars on our side is a good start. Trying to hunt four exalted is much harder then one freshly minted Solar.

Before the demon can pick itself back up completely, you're already on the move. Taking one, two, three steps up the left-hand wall of the alley, you launch yourself in the air after picking up enough speed, rising in an arc.

In mid-air, during that spot at the apex of your falling arc where you hang weightless for a moment, you catch a better sight of the dark shadow, as you're nearly on-level with him.

He's a tall man, wearing large, voluminous, dark robes, and with a large mass of long black hair hanging behind him. The clothing seems fairly refined. His hands are slender and delicate, with long fingers. You notice he has bags under his eyes.

He flashes you a dry smile as gravity catches gold of you and you start falling again.

Focusing back on the demon, which is apparently looking around for you, you hold your right leg out, shift your weight, and land planting the back of your foot into the monster's skull, caving it in with a horrifying noise.

You drop back to ground, doing a three-point landing.

The fight is over: Tia is slowly walking towards you with a decapitated blood-ape head in her arms. The moment she notices your return she tosses it over her shoulder, absent-mindedly.

You glance back at Main Street: the diplomatic group has passed the crossroads. Maybe they didn't even notice anything: there's quite a crowd there, as noisy as any crowd can be.

Oh, sure, I agree with that. A caste system based on exaltation type is dumb. Maka is on top because she's the goddamn priestess queen, bitches, not because she's a Solar.

But she really does need to be a priestess-queen sooner rather than later. A pope-queen, if you will, to a theocratic state which reveres the sun.

You turn to face the crazy lunar. Now that you're away from all the crowd seems like a good moment to try and figure out what her deal is.

Then, you see her caste-mark lighting back up.

"...So, what the-mmpf" You start forming your question, but are immediately interrupted by her grabbing and kissing you. Deeply.

Maybe on purpose, maybe on accident, maybe not caring either way, the Lunar is using her full strength while doing this - and you quickly realize that she's quite a bit stronger than you.

You aren't left with breath to reply: Once she interrupts the kiss, she leans in even closer with her full body and she whispers "I've waited too long." in your ear... before biting it, as her hands move under your dress.

Yes but that still puts people on levels by default based on exaltation. It would be simpler to go 'People who do well, regardless of exaltation, do better'.

So that solar who has done fuckall yet is worth just as much as the Dragonblooded that has done fuckall yet rather than ranking above 90% of exalts.

Sidereals shouldn't really be anywhere in the heirarchy. They're advisors and internal affairs guys. They influence the rest of the chain of command (and keep everyone else flying right), but they don't have authority of their own.

I'd put Heroic Mortals of various sorts in between mortals and Exalts. We want to promote more godblooded, because we're never going to get enough DB to stop the realm, so we need to use their dislike of mortal essence users against them. Also, do Infernals get to hang with the rest of the Exalts?

That's when we get too powerful for them to do their job as internal affairs, and when we've gone too crazy with the effects of the Great Curse to listen to them when they tell us we probably shouldn't be doing that shit.

Thinking about it. What would we do if we encounter Solars who are either mad or not playing very nice?

I remember reading in dawn caste book about a pair of solar's (one being a dawn) going from place to place saying "Renounce your loyalty to the realm and pledge allegiance to us. OR WE WILL KILL YOU!"

They were built for different purposes, though. Creation Exalts were smart weapons that needed to get back online ASAP when the host died. Autobot exalts are there to protect and serve the people and eventually even house them
>>
>>30566343
Seeing as we're Zenith, probably try to reform them. If that doesn't work, then we'll kill them.
>>
>>30566391
Yes. Creation's exalts were a fix for a short-term problem that for some reason weren't designed not to outlast the problem they were designed to solve, so now we've got a bunch of god-killing weapons that have long since outlasted their purpose running around fucking shit up while the gods who created them shove their fingers in their ears and pretend this isn't their fault. Alchemical Exaltation is built to be good in the long term, because Autochthon is less of a fuckup that way. He just has terminal cancer and his body isn't designed for human habitation.

How does this lunar mate thing work? If I understand correctly, they used to be the solars' lovers in past lives. Do the two always like each other because fate or something or can they dislike each other as well?

The UCS wanted Luna to make it so all Lunars "belonged" to all Solars.

Luna was like "pff, fuck that." And made it so each Solar has a specific Lunar mate. Thing is, they just feel strongly about that particular Solar. It doesn't mean they like them, or anything, so really, Tia could still just want to fuck us and then kill us.

And then fuck the body.

(This was a fairly close vote. going to ho with something middle of the way, with the most popular vote taking precedence)

"Uhh..." You're not terribly sure how to react to this. Is it because of the dress? Is it some magic you're using without realizing? Is she just crazy? You're absolutely sure it's...

You're pretty sure you've never met her, yes. That doesn't really explain the fact that she's pushing you against a wall, twisting your tabard aside, her hands gently caressing your body...

...you decide that, if you want to get some answers out of her, you better take control of the situation.

[Essence: 3/5] You gently but decisively break her hold, and hold both her arms by the wrists.

"Care to explain?" You ask, leaning in. She looks straight into your eyes, unblinking.

"...I remember you. From before."

"..Before? You mean the First Age?"

She struggles against your hold, with impressive strength. Finally, she manages to break one arm free, but all she does with it is bring it up to your face and caress your cheek. "I don't know. I know I've always dreamed about you. But now you're here. And you're mine. And no one else's."

Those eyes are definitely the eyes of a crazy psychopath.

"Uh...I'm not sure if I want this kind of long-term commitment with a stranger that I've just met." You try and play to reason.

Useless. "It's not a decision. It's a gift." She says, pushing you down.

You both hit the hard stone of the road, and roll about for a few seconds in a furious grapple.

You end on top, keeping her pinned down. Her previously-inexpressive face cracks up in a terrifying grin. "...What are you doing? I didn't tell you you could stop!"

"...What." You reply, dumbfounded.

She looks up to you. "Are you going to take me, or do I have to take you?" She asks.

You can't really reply to that statement in any way other than taking action. Seems like that's the only language she'll understand coming from you. Maybe you'll get through to her that way.

Amid your twists and tangles in the dirty, blood-spattered backalley (a fact that doesn't seem to bother her at all), you realize that Tia is not holding back anything. This is basically a fight for dominance.

And, since she dragged you into this, you're now quite determined to win. However, the fact that you're not really feeling comfortable with this - not with the violence of her passion, nor with the location in which you're consuming, nor with the situation in general - still puts you to a disadvantage.

But then, after another minute of struggle, you catch Tia starting to cry.

This is the final straw, upsetting you enough to make you stop for a second. Catching you offguard, she grabs your hips in a bear-hug, and suplexes you to the ground.

Your air knocked out of your lungs, you come back to with her straddled over you, keeping you pinned, her tears dropping on your chest one after another.

"...Did I hurt you?" You reflexively ask her, feeling very stupid after thinking about it for a second.

She shakes her head, still keeping you pinned to the ground. "...I'm too happy." She says, And, looking at her face, you realize she can't be lying. "Do I... Do I even deserve to be this happy...?"

She leans down on you, dropping her enhanced strength, just burying her face in your chest, wrapping her arms around you, and quietly crying, without moving.

You stay like this for almost a minute.

We're PROBABLY not needed with the others yet, since we're doing our job by associating with a Lunar and getting info from them right?

Now is definitely the absolute wrong time and place for this.

Five dot Bond full moons are scary. But once she calms down it should be fine.

Seems a bit forceful. Doing something similar with gentleness and care while hugging is cool. That's the way a Zenith should dom anyway, not by beating someone is a contest of raw strength.
>>
>>30566860
>she abandoned it to have a cry
No, we abandoned it because her crying broke our concentration. Which gave her the opportunity to suplex us and pin us to the ground beneath her before we came to. Read the update.

Since we do want to have sex with her on our terms, yes, yes we are gay.

>>
You give in to your instincts, and just wrap your arms around her and wait.

A few minutes later, the sobbing stops.

"...Did you calm down?" You ask her,

"...Yes." Is her reply, after a long pause.

Awkward silence.

"N-n... name..." She mumbles.

"Maka." You tell her.

"Maka." She repeats. "Maka. Maka. Maka." She repeats some more.

"...You can let me go. I'm not going to run away." You slowly try to stand back up.

"You're not. We'll stay together forever." She says, sounding absolutely certain. But she lets you stand up.

You're both a mess of dirt and blood picked up from the ground as you were rolling in it, of course.

At least you can justify it with the fight, but it might be a bad idea to go back to the meeting like this.

"We... should get back to the others, but first we need to clean up." You explain.

Tia looks at her own beautiful wedding dress, completely ruined, like she realizes only now what sorry condition she's in. "You're right, Maka" She concedes, perhaps feeling the need to tack your name to the end of the sentence just as an excuse to say it again.

I'll have to AFK briefly. Thread is almost at 300 already, so keep discussion not related to the thread at a minimum please. When I'll be back I'll see if we should continue here or open a new thread.

I was just thinking: we should probably get a charm that makes it so we're always presentable no matter the situation. We're having to take time out to freshen up, when we could be looking immaculate all the time.
>>
>>30567041
Actually we're already in autosage
>>
>>30567057
sounds to me like you come back from having the air knocked out of your lungs. Either way, that sort of fight ends when one side submits, which didn't happen. From my perspective, that's a draw, and if the lunar thinks differently we'll turn that draw into a win.
>>
>>30567059
Collar of Dawn's cleansing light. One dot artifact. Reasonably common.
>>
>>30567090

>>
>>30567090
I'm more astonished that we didn't do a lot better. I thought we had Solar hero active still, which would have led to a win.
>>
>>30567127
Well yes, by my count we should have won. (also, the vote wasn't remotely close). I suppose its too much to ask for a retcon?
>>
>>30567127
We never had solar Hero active since OP forgot about it and refunded the essence to us
>>
>>30567167
True. Grappling should be Physical+Dawn+3 for a total of 8, with a total of 3 successes. unfortunately, a retcon is unlikley, so we'll just have to slap her down next time.
>>
>>30567127
We retroactively never used Solar Hero Style (see >>30565388). We activated Ten Ox Meditation (>>30566538) to combat her strength, but it just evenned the playing field and when our concentration broke we still ended up at her mercy.
>>
>>30567189
Even though we asked to keep it anyway when he offered?
>>
>>30567199
We needed 4 successes, we got 3.
>>
>>30567167
It is sadly. Better to ask for some sort of bonus when this comes up again.
>>
>>30567223
He actually forgot the bonus for ox style whatever that is.

that is the point
>>
>>30567580
Change it to "But she doesn't resist when you push your way past her" maybe?
>>
>>30567580
The fact that she DID let us is just as important as our own actions. Even if we could have just pushed past, that doesn't change the gesture.
>>
>>30567601
sounds good to me.
>>
>>30567356
Gonna be honest, I wasn't even clear on the fact that it was a fail-able roll. OP really needs to make those things clear.
>>
>>30567665
While this is true, I think it's a safe assumption that anything REQUIRING charm activation is a fail able roll.
>>
>>30567777
Not when the charm is Tent Ox Meditation. We definitely needed the charm to bring the stones back to the city, yet we did not roll. Same with all the other times we have used its strength enhancing function instead of its punching function. Except this time. Its actually pretty reasonable to assume an automatic success really.

Back, will start posting after eating something. But is it that important to you who wins in what's essentially an Exalted pillow fight?

I have no problem retconning it into Maka winning: unless you plan to actually use the advantage to try and kill Tia, though, it doesn't change much. I didn't think about using rolls and scores for that scene because I didn't think it was important.

If it is, though, I'll use them next time.
>>
>>30567977
It's not important to me, and I DEFINITELY don't want you to change the sentence referred to in >>30567520 since it's pretty important for Tia's character.
>>
>>30567977
/tg/ can't lose, no matter how little impact it has
>>
>>30567977
don't retcon it to winning-if Tia actually takes winning it seriously, we can just claim we let her win because she started crying and ask for a rematch
>>
>>30567977
Hmm, I think some of us were just reading too much into the staging of that scene then. Don't worry about it, let's keep it the way it was and move on after you grab some grub and are set to go.
>>
>>30567977

>>
>>30568007
This.
>>
>>30567977

>>
>>30568176

>I'd recommend you not retcon it but do promise a flawless victory next time when we finish our little wrestling. Seems like a decent compromise.
I'll go with this just to bury the hatchet.
>>
>>30568176
Hmmm, yeah I guess that one, though that was simultaneously a HUGE thing, and all Decu's fault for miscounting. This seems so miniscule that the main reason I don't want a retcon is I don't want OP to waste time writing it out. I mean, seriously people.
>>
>>30568211
Can we just get an post where Tia says she'll get us next time, and complain about it being our win for showing concern for her when she started crying? Seriously, this is getting out of hand.
>>
>>30568179
Failed showing dominance in a bit of sexy wrestling with a clearly distressed and not-in-her-right-mind lunar.

Lesson learned, from now on I'll take every little conflict, even competitive foreplay, seriously. But I'm going to keep the option to retcon events for actually relevant stuff.

Don't worry about it so much, I seriously don't get this whole argument at all...usually when anons want retcons I might think it's a terrible idea, but at least I see why they'd want it. This is so small I'm impressed people went to the effort of pointing it out.

>>30568481
>>30568505

>>30568563
Pretty much this.
>>
>>30568554
>Majority of the players
You mean vocal minorities
>>
>>30568573
It can be similar in description without actually being furry, you know. The point of the War form is being 9 feet of raw "fuck you up" and when a Lunar intentionally shows up like that for talks he's sending a message, not looking to tiff.
>>
You slowly make your way to the castle.

Tia is following you, holding your hand. She doesn't look like she's going to let go of it anytime soon, or ever.

"...I don't know anything about you." You say, trying to get her to talk, as you sneak through dark alleyways. You don't like this, but you also don't want to be seen in this condition.

"What do you want to know?" Talk about being a tough customer.

You think about it for a bit. "...Where are you from?"

"Far." She says. Then, after a pause: "Halta."

"That's..." It takes you a moment to remember where exactly Halta is. "...Far." you concede. "What brought you here? Don't tell me you were looking for me. I was just Exalted, you couldn't know."

"I was wandering." She explains, looking straight at you. Feels like her eyes are trying to drill a hole into your heart. "Travelling. Couldn't stop. Couldn't find a place."

"...Because of me?" You ask, fearing that you might know the answer already.

"Also." Apparently, she can still surprise you. "But I was also running away."

After seeing her in that fight, you have some trouble imagining what she must be afraid of. "...Running from?"

"I used to work for another Lunar. I thought he and I wanted the same things. He lied to me. Deceived me. Betrayed me. I betrayed him back. Unmade his schemes. Sold his secrets to his enemies. In exchange, they told me that I could find you here."

You wonder how could THEY have known, but hold the question.

"So, I had to run. I was alone. Only here, on the other side of the world, I found friends. A place to hide. And you." She smiles, and it's a smile as bright as the full moon. "Now, I'm not afraid of anything anymore. I'm not going to hide from Ma-Ha-Suchi anymore."

No, I mean majorities. I am referring to a few quests where the QM has literally insulted the intelligence of a majority of his players on a semi frequent basis.
>>
>>30568611
Well I wasn't referring to his being a furry to call some anti-furry sentiment, merely stating that anything with fur, much less resembling an animal, is in my personal 'no-fuck' zone.
>>
>>30568610
usually
when it does become the majority, the Quest usually has a thread or two left, barring a miracle

Well he'd better do that then.

It's the default really. Like I said, he's basically telling us and Amata not to fuck with him by walking in in war form.

She said the name like it should sound like a horrifying bogeyman, but it doesn't say anything to you. Maybe misinterpreting your lack of reaction for bravery, her smile widens and her hand squeezes yours stronger.

With the way she's been handling you, if you had been still mortal, you'd have already exploded some time ago.

"And you?" She asks. You've reached the castle walls, but now you'll have to sneak in. You briefly wonder how. You're not sure even you can jump that high.

"...I used to be a princess of a southern kingdom." You sigh. "But I was exiled from my country. The Queen of Tianna took me in as a guest. I Exalted a few days ago, fighting some Abyssals that are for some reason targeting the city."

Tia, meanwhile, without much problem, has started climbing the wall, grasping with her fingers in the tiny spaces between bricks. "Hold on to me." She invites you.

It feels so odd to get a lift from her, considering she's a lot slimmer and lither than you, but she seems to have no problem climbing up the wall at a pretty decent pace.

"Where is your kingdom?" She suddenly asks, halfway to the top.

>An-Teng, a vast tropical kingdom, now a satrapy of the Realm.
>The Lap, a quiet and boring city-state built in the lap of an enormous statue.
>Chiaroscuro, a prosperous trading hub and the most ancient city of the South.
>Paragon, an orwellian city ruled by an immortal, all-seeing, all-powerful autocrat.
>Gem, the southernmost settlement in Creation - vastly rich, bloody with war, and doomed by fate.
>Harborhead, a tribal confederation, warlike, yet subject to the Realm.
>Varangia, a confederation of city-states where castes and roles are pre-determined by birth.

That it IS your kingdom.

Can we please not chose Gem. I'd like to return to our Kingdom one day
>>
>>30569078
Think of Gem as a city-state that punches well above its weight class in terms of political influence and strategic importance.
>>
>>30569133
agreed.
>>
>>30569133
...what exactly keeps you from ever returning to Gem one day? I'm confused.

it getting destroyed?
Isn't it the city that's doomed to be destroyed no matter what?
>>
>>30569177
Gem is considered doomed to explode in pretty much any scenario, so I guess they assume that applies here too.

Plebs trying to "win".

Also - it just makes this place more interesting.

we already have a city with a shitload of problems to fix
>>

>>Gem, the southernmost settlement in Creation - vastly rich, bloody with war, and doomed by fate... TO EXPLOOOODE

For the guys who don't know Exalted: It's an old inside-joke that Gem Always Explodes. There are several apocalypse-type scenarios about to unfold in canon centered on Gem.

Which makes it a very interesting place for us to be the princess/queen of!
>>
>>30569214
Isn't it a Solar's purpose to punch Fate in the throat? To save the doomed and redeem the damned? Gem need not die if we stand in the way of its destruction.
>>
>>30569288
why not 2?
>>
We are on Page 9 OP, want to continue in new thread?
>>

>The Lap, a quiet and boring city-state built in the lap of an enormous statue.
>>
>>30569277
Only if you definition of interesting includes mandated mass death and inevitable failure.
In my book that's as boring as you get.

>>30569302
It's cute that you think it's going to work out like that.
>>
>>30569238
By that argument An-teng is the most interesting because we'd be picking a fight with one of the most loyal satrapy of the realm
>>
>>30568967
>>Gem, the southernmost settlement in Creation - vastly rich, bloody with war, and doomed by fate.
>>
>>30569124
So we're the Despot of Gem or the Perfect of Paragon or the Leopard Seat of Harborhead?
>>
>>30569320
Nah, closing it here.

Also, Gem wins the poll.

Will continue... probably monday.

Also, a personal doubt:

I love the Lap as a location, but I have to wonder: how many voted for the Lap because it's a well-written, interesting piece of the setting, and how many voted it because they perceived it to be easier to conquer than Gem?

I want you to vote for a location you'd like Maka to be exiled ruler of, not for the choice that gives the most bonuses.

Eh, I'd love to, but i think the thread's not gonna last long enough to have a good discussion about it. I'll toss that in at the start of the next thread.

And if I don't, remind me.

A bit of both really. I would much have preferred an option that was closer, so we could stay more integrated with our allies when we come to reclaim it. I don't really like the fact that our homeland is so far away that we'll essentially have to abandon our initial success to start from scratch to reclaim it.
>>
>>30569532
me too. At this point, I'd rather forget about our origin and just invade a nearby country
>>
>>30569455
If you hadn't listed Gem as an option I would have voted Lap because the idea of a city built into a giant statue, even just one's Lap is beautiful in its imagery. But Gem's an old favorite place of mine so it got the vote instead. Difficulty level of conquest really didn't enter into my decision.

Aw, I tend to miss the first few hours of your weekday threads though. Well, that's what happens when you play online.

Take it easy OP, hope the rest of your weekend is excellent.
>>
>>30569615

We can think about moving whole island near Lap, conquering Lap and then going back to Gem as the Despot since they need Lap's food surplus.

Think in this way.
>>
>>30569728
Point. Regarding hierarchy things, while I agree it isn't a good idea to piss off the DB, we should glorify and encourage essence users in general. Since the realm discriminate against mortals like Godblooded we should recruit as many as possible to offset the Realm's superior numbers of DB, and normal mortals. Plus, we can offer enlightenment are teaching to mortal dynasts for extra fun
>>
We seem to be gathering enemies like a collector. Ma-Ha-Suchi, Abyssals, the Yotzis aiding the Lintha, our Exilers, the Realm on principle.
