No one is sure how the Fall came. Its been to long and there are just so many stories with how it came tumbling down...too bad its all true.

Now however groups are coming out. People are trying to rebuild despite the horrors or difficulty. Its a time of new beginnings arising from the end and its time when a certain groups shall rise above. Many things have also happened from Mourning Day to the mighty Ghoulish Krulsades and much much more. Dark things crawl underground, as on the surface things scurry, and space where hulks continue to play a deadly game despite having forgotten it already ended long ago.

This is their story.

First to five votes is chosen.

Free heads up when I punch I don't pull back. Also I am a sucker for dropping hints and tips they can remain viable for quite some time. New players are always welcome don't feel bad if things seem confusing/weird so called 'veterans' wont be feeling much better either.

You may vote for terrain(CHOOSE) and civ type also hero options will be given once choices are done(heroes give special bonuses as well as perspective). A hero be assigned to 1 action per a turn. Also feel free to come up with fluff/ideas including factions/civ types it may even be used and you may get a bonus out of it too boot just make to include it in a vote or plan.

>Survivors get a bonus to salvaging and survival actions.

>Tribals get bonuses to scouting and Guerrilla warfare.

>Remnants start with a Tech specialty and gain a special unit because of this

>Government Civ is balanced but doesn't excel at anything till late game.

>Military civ is poor at Manufacture and Research early game but starts with a fortified base, lots of weaponry, and trained personnel.

>Mutants get access to 1 free mutation(make one up) plus unnatural endurance thus can survive in areas that would kill normal humans. Unfortunately they suffer from a severe rep penalty(humies fucking HATE you, bandits don't like you and other mutants may see you as competition) and breeding issues.

>bandits have the special ability to auto upgrade their forces thanks to their life style(other factions have to spend resources AND a action to do so bandits just do resources) however they are unable to make their own supply(must raid or something) and suffer a reputation penalty. *WARNING* white knight choices will be vetoed you are EVIL, but that doesn't mean you can't be smart/clever about it *WARNING*.

>robots cannot produce without resources as they do not breed. Suffer rep penalty but do not suffer the weaknesses of the flesh.

>Zealots morale cannot be broken.

Human Survivalists.

The Aenglish draw their ancestry back to what was once Pre-Fall histories greatest Empire of its antiquity, whose extent was so large it was said that three moons smiled on it constantly. As time moved on however, and quite close to the Fall, their power and holdings waned and they soon found themselves surrounded the other great Superpowers, one of whom was a colony of theirs that had rebelled. Though they were not as nationalistically minded as the Merikan exceptionalist, nor as much of an industrial powerhouse as the Red Army, neither truly power mad for empire the Darwinyan's or the Kokaidans near the Fall, they still looked up to virtues and proud traditions of Empire, Aengland, and the Crown which never dies, though the heir is long missing.

Thanks to their numerous previous colonial territories, many Aenglish were able to flee their capital island Megacity of Lendin before the great Fall would surely of decimated it, though rumor's exist that it still survives along with the monarch.

Perhaps it was their natural talent for establishing colonies and homes in even the harshest of environments that we find these group of Survivors here. These survivors are Aenglish, though few of the old world would've called most of them them “True Aengs.” The reason for this is that, apart from a small group of people whose families do trace themselves back to the capital, most are descended of a collection of fierce colonists, from places such as Streya, Ifreca, and Endya, who had their own particular and sometimes peculiar culture and flare. But though their accents and culture may differ slightly they have no doubts that they are all of them Aenglishmen. These particular survivors hail from longstanding traditions of the huntsmen and explorers.

For this reason others who value the hunt, such as Hillybill's, certain Bandits, even known and sometimes infamous lines of mutant respect them in varying degree's, and it is in fact not uncommon for them to be on very good terms with even the most "savage" of Tribals, whom they are known to employ and mingle with.

Even when not respected they are at least know of their habit for civility even in the face of hostility as well as:

“...their particular and peculiar propensity for a high degree of, occasionally necessary yet ever eloquent, displays of verbosity; the manner of which both stems from and integrates with a longstanding and deep socio-cultural connection to -and to whom upon which it has fallen upon them the possession of requirement, excellence, and attainment of- the Aenglish Language.”

Still, there are others who do not look so kindly upon them, who consider them relics of a forgotten age or simply as more human prey. Even still, they have the uncanny ability to hunt things FAR larger or more deadier than the average human normally would. Perhaps the only reason they manage to survive at all.

Eurgh, tunnels. I'd be more comfortable if we were the bug race if we were to do that.

Actually this time I'm not as much afraid of going into a monster infested area, and jungle or grasslands would be fitting.

>>30528031

A cave system in a jungle sounds pretty cool. I'm going to stick by the cave system HQ though.

wait did we die in the old thread, also Mutants got fluff Ive been saving.

Megacorp bio-weapon research facility, codenamed Halloween Town was abandoned, after the Organic supercomputer, dubbed The Lexicon that was running the place was corrupted a contamination agent from the facility, and thus was able to supersede, his directives. Bio-Weapon Project codenamed "Tiamat"(that would be us) broke out of containment and continued to survive in the lab. The organism was designed to be a hyper-evolving apex predator, that would be controlled by a psi link. The psi link to the Queen would then in turn all following broods. Unfortunately the lab was lost before the control mechanism could be completed.

I think what you're looking for is:

Mutants
Hero: Brood Mother/Queen, and/or Apex Predator
HQ: Research facility (infested)

You might specify that, rather than mutants, we're actually broods. I'm not sure broods are available as a playable race though.
>>
>>30528276
The organism having just awakened to is sentience, is ignorant in all manners social and technological, and the only other being is has yet made contact with is the corrupted organic supercomputer, which it is able to converse with through telepathy.

At this point there is only the one organism and the only way that it is able to currently breed is through the parasitism of other living creatures (the breeding penalty). The organism follows a beehive like mentality, where, under normal circumstances young produced become sterile workers, that have no higher thought processes and are mere extensions of the original creature, the hive minds, will.
>>
>>30528443
At your best you are inquisitive, if a bit naive, at your worst you are gullible, and quick to temper. As you have no experience with technology or other organisms that are anything but food, you must, initially at least, rely upon ingenuity and guile, to produce mutations, that will allow you to survive.

Inhuman- cannot perform diplomacy on humane elements very well if at all.

Brood Adaption- Able to rapidly evolve(unlocks Wasteland terrain) and research penalty is reversed when dealing with assimilation/mutation
Brood Hivemind- Morale cannot be broken and instant highly guarded communication

Yes you get to choose whatever.

Brood Mother specializes on inside the brood Assimilator outside to put it simply.

Our brood awakens...amongst strange ruins and cold. Stinks of death...perverted flesh, and tasty morsels. Unfortunately said tasty morsels feel the same way about us.

We can feel traces all around us. Mostly scattered around but there are a few concentrations one on the surface and another below. We don't know much more then that.

The Ruins have fallen to our infestation nicely unfortunately there are still a few hold outs.

Monster Dens 10 of them.
2 Zombie Dens
Strange creatures which don't use their own flesh as weapons. There are 3 locations where these things are.

Broods?

Well besides natural psi emanations and a conflict known as the brood wars which occurred after the Battle of Ilustrad where the Brood Queen was slain while she was attempting to mutate into an Arch Brood Queen. After that the brood wars began...

Brood Wars were beyond awful they made the previous conflicts look like nothing in comparison. Heh guess those idiots REALLY regretted killing the brood queen everything went to hell in a hand basket and that was BEFORE the Fall HAHHAH.

Sadly though I was an AI who was never taken part in much Brood related research so i don't know shit besides a little bit I picked up from somewhere...well we DID a little bit on them as that is how I know about the psi.

Drones stupid but serves to nuture infestation.

This turn worms have developed side strain capable of infecting hosts directly.

No need, in this environment I would want our warriors to be able to just lay eggs in living or dead corpses on the go. So they kill and eat all they can and "lay" their eggs in the partly eaten and decomposing corpses or throw them into the breeding pool. Breeding pools are so cool.

>>30532332

>>
>>30532553

EDE's hinted heavily that we're not doing what we should be doing. You haven't seemed to notice, so that's the contribution.
>>
>>30532610
Ive noticed and im trying to think of something to do, just haven't gotten any idea's yet. He mentioned that broods have high upkeep, which is why i suggested securing a source of food and water, since we seem to be quickly running out of it.
>>
>>30532658

The better way to go about doing that would be to seize a monster den or three and encapsulate them (very difficult to do here, because of how many monsters there are hereabouts). Think about what we've seen broods do in the past.
>>
>>30532658
And the psi stuff.

Maybe they are saying go down the war path. Upgrade and build up forces to attack and consume.

>>30532332
When we were attempting to investigate the Nexus it seemed to somehow spawn from the surrounding creep where it absorbed nutrients and grew. It also seems to be radiating a psi energy that our brood is particularly suspect able to. When we were about to take a closer look the concealing membrane broke revealing the Nexus...which radiated psionic energy before it abruptly halted.

Psi veins have begun to appear.
Infestation growth rate greatly expanded.

Command units now available.

New mutation has appeared among the Swarmlings. Volotie bile better able to pierce through protection.

well a precursor to sclerotin are quinones and if you break down hydrogen peroxide into hydroxide radicals (something pretty much all animals can do naturally), when mixed certain quinones will react exothermically with the hydroxide radicals and flash boil, if you contain it and give it a nozzle then boiling chemicals will come flying out. Its what Bombardier Beetles do for self defense. I mean its not fire or anything but boiling chemicals hurt like a bitch.

If we can split the army up some. Have the worms hit a few of the monsters on their way to infect and help weaken them. Have the diggers make back tunnels for sending some of the swarmlings for a attack for behind.

Humans if the creeper can range infest hit them to weaken them and fall back. Then swarm to finish. Is my vote.
>>
>>30535700
I still would like an answer on this one...
>>
Rolled 67

>>30536009

This is a good idea, however I believe Creeper can be used more efficiently by having him hide at the edge of our infested domain until the humans have passed before infesting the hallways behind them.

We can't station any troops with him though, due to our severe penalty to stealth. We should look into causing our infestation to secrete whatever Smelly stuff we do so that we can operate within our zones without the stealth penalty.

I do completely agree with hitting the monsters hard with the worms to spawn units to combat the humans though.
>>
>>30536069
Fair. Just want to be careful not to lose our ceeper hero and the AI hero out side.
>>
>>30536060
well if creep or infestation is anything like starcraft, then creep is kind of like an extension of our lair that is "alive" but cant really move or things like that, but instead make the terrain more difficult to traverse for our enemies, and easier to traverse for our creatures. It also is able to sense creatures that are on it, to let us know when some enemies are incoming. Its like our base is terraforming the area around it.
>>
>>30536069
well if we are doing some kind of 2 pronged attack then you want to divide your forces without really dividing your forces, for example while our swarmlings and worms take care of the humans, have a drone dig a tunnel out to the monsters on the edge of our infestation, then use the infestors, and the creeper to slog the monsters down. Then throw the full offensive force against the humans, crushing them quickly, before swinging around to hit the monsters from a second side in a pincer maneuver. Basicly lets rip some pages out of Hitlers playbook.
>>
>>30536215
So we need to improve our creep for the next 5 turns. We don't have to infest a large area, but I want it to mean death f you touch our creep.

Basic knowledge is that brood infestation creates its own ecosystem over time that seeks to override the native one.

Basically it serves to nourish, enhance, defend, breed and conquer.

hm alright.

Forces dispatched.

Meanwhile at the human perimeter on the edge of the infested zone.

"Damn bugs coming out of fucking nowhere and here I thought dem monsters would keep them down."

"Hah you kiddin these fuckers are worst then mutants when it comes to squishing."

"WE GOT COMPANY," screamed out a sentry.

"Aw shit fucking swarmlings I HATE swarmlings."

Don't we all? Alright fuckers and fuckees lets start the fun? And remember to use protection also don't let swarmlings crowd yah as you'll be more fucked the a hot female non virgin slave in a Slavers Pitt."

With that the enemy has begun the attack making sure to keep flamers up front roasting our forces decimating them.

"Well shit these ones ARE weak to becoming extra crispy after all."

"Told you this place be cold I figured it wasn't likely they got some resistance."

That was when our worms burrowed up from below.

AH YOU STUPID FUCKS GET OFF THE DAMNED CREEP WE GOT WORMS.

It looked as if we might be able to stand a chance as the ones who got overeager and advanced deeper in infested zone got nailed by worms opening them up for the swarms. Sadly the humans quickly rebounded performing a slow retreat back with plenty of cover fire. Despite our best efforts even with many of their flamers down and having to be replaced with others our forces still couldn't quite get them, but hey at least the suffered SOME losses.

Human victory

You have to understand that our enemies are always far better equipped than we can imagine, their power armor probably shrugs off flame like it's water.
>>
>>30536787
Second operation.

Drone tunnels expanded underground towards the monsters who by this time have struck within our infested zone. Which made it easy AND gave our infestor a bonus so not too many complaints there.

That was when our forces with creeper erupted. That was also when things turned against us. Turns out the monsters somehow knew we were coming and tore right into us. Creeper did mange to unleash a Infest taking down some of them and making them our own, but that could sadly do only so much.

Shortly after that what remained of our offensive force came down swinging around to strike at them.

This showed some effects as the larger monsters were not quite equipped to deal with the nasty swarmlings and they were a bit occupied. Sadly though not all these monsters were really big in fact most weren't we didn't have quite neough stuff to draw those ones attention and many larger ones turned out to be quite adapt at taking out our kind.

This time we managed to bloody the bastards but in the end they won.

Bloody Victory Monsters
EMERGENCY DEFENSIVE SPAWN ACTIVATED.
Broodling surge commencing.

sadly they were smart enough to create their area outside the infested zone(aka the ski resort). So they had space and they weren't that stupid.

>>
>>30537607

>>
>>30537486
I can certainly think of things, problem is they are all awful complex, i was trying to think of something that we could manage in one turn, if we were just going crazy I would say that we should evolve the DNA to make the poison of poison dart frogs, which really comes from the beetles they eat, then develop the ability to store viruses like a wasp uses to disable the immune system of a caterpillar. then turn the poison dna into a virus. we of coarse would have already evolved the proper DNA to code for the proper RNA that would deactivate the RNA that codes for the enzymes that create the poison and or the ability to sequester the poison itself (like the dart frogs). when we attack enemies catch the virus, virus injects DNA coding for lethal poison, their own body creates the poison and they keel over, if we wanted to be really mean we could make the virus communicable, they all catch the virus from each other and they all keel over.
>>
Rolled 66

>>30537590
ah yeesss I has its nows.

Oh fuck is it gonna be funny. Now to see what you do so I can confirm that is whats gonna happen.
>>
>>30537599
Yup. But right now seeing what we can do for our troops. If we can fall back into the vault we could have a better defense. But it seems best thing to do is recover and work on a new attack or anti fire upgrade, but it could be to late for the upgrade. So maybe the improving of our chemical weapons.

or that.

>>
>>30537650

Instant-win buttons like that tend not to do so hot in EDE's civs. If tree frogs do it, what makes you think that tens of thousands of monster strains that are being engineered to be deadly haven't already developed something like that, and the others developed defenses against it?

You're doing good, but you have to break outside of the box.
>>
>>30537667
I agree we should beef up for a little bit. drag whatever corpses are left over from our fights with the monsters and the humans back to the base and see if they have any noteworthy mutations that we can steal, also I heard we infected some monsters, if we have any of those left over we should thoroughly examine those too.
>>
>>30537710
>>30537667

I was under the impression that the purge of us is still ongoing.
>>
>>30537698
well yea overly complicated becomes convoluted and leads to poor execution.
>>
>>30537727
I was under the impression that we managed to get the humans and monsters to retreat despite heavy casualties.
>>
Rolled 24

>>30537727
Broodling surge is a basically the last line of defense.

>>30537710
Those monsters got killed fighting their former comrades.

>>30537759
Monsters are still advancing their just bloodied.

Humans are sticking to their perimeter after losing some guys.
>>
>>30537771
well i guess ill wait for all these rolls of yours to play out first
>>
>>30537771
Cool monsters only. Need to use the creep. I'm thinking pit fall traps for the bigger ones. Creep just hides the hole. Then chew their legs off and go for the eyes up top.
>>
>>30537734

That plan wasn't necessarily overly complicated (though the way you phrased it was).

Develop an immuno-suppressant virus that acts extremely fast, and a virus that (really does anything viruses normally do) rewrites host biology to produce substances toxic to their physiology.

But, again, I'm sure some of the monsters developed mutations along those lines at some point and the others just evolved better immune systems to combat it.

That aside, monsters are a vast array of species, and making any virus that's transmissible across all of them would take a long time. Also, we're better as broods at making macroscopic organisms than microscopic ones. Especially seeing as we didn't take a brood mother.
>>

>>
Rolled 22

>>30537932
>>30537882

>>
>>30537882

The idea here being that these monsters didn't decide to swarm at us on their own, and didn't know to expect our forces on their own. That means they're being directed either with pheromones, mechanical implants, or psionics. Our smell would've fucked up pheromones, mechanical implants are...unlikely, so hopefully we can scramble their psionic direction and be able to strike them while they're disoriented.

Alternately, it'd frenzy them. I welcome better ideas either way.

My friend's idea was use the diggers to set up choke points to have worms attack and we hit and run with swarmlings. Then have a few holes made to hide units in and cover them up. To wait till the enemy has passed and let some of the infection work it's magic. Then two front attack again.

so if im interpreting this correctly then we dig ditches, and use that dirt to make fortifications, enhancing any natural choke points and then we use the swarmlings to lure them into the trap and let the infectors and worms close in on all sides. If thats what it is then I suggest that we dig the ditches in such a way that it makes a narrow path leading up to the break in the wall, then we use swarmlings to lure them onto the bridge and into the mouth of the gap, so they cant use number to their advantage, then swarmlings hold the line while infestors come up the sides of the bridge to infect the middle of the forces, while the worms that were buried on the far side of the bridge surface and we hit them from all sides, Creeper can stand atop the walls an lob down infection on top of them. and if things really start to go south then we pump all the psi energy into the psi vein that runs through the center of the bridge, detonating it.
