You are ALICE. You were once a magical girl, but have now ended up having to hunt down your former comrades. As a member of the Magical Girl Hunter Bureau, it is your job to defend humanity from the Magical Menace!

Currently, you WERE enjoying a rather nice vacation until your boss suddenly called you out of the blue.

"Alright, Leo, keep an eye on Carol." You sigh and turn back to Jager's bodyguard. "All right, let's get this over with."

You follow the bodyguard, who takes you to the uppermost floor. Of course the boss would be at the top. The elevator doors then open to a very expensive but modern looking foyer, where there is at least another squad of armed men and women standing by. They turn to face you, but the bodyguard accompanying you waves them off and they return to their duties. The bodyguard then silently inputs a code in a keypad and the giant steel doors at the other end of the foyer creak open.

Without having to take any prompt, you stroll through the doors, which quickly and silently close behind you, their only evidence of having moved at all being the loud CLICK as the locks engage, Looking ahead, you see Jager sitting at his desk. There's also a large teleconference screen, with Bruttenholm's tired and exasperated face plastered all over it.

"Ah, Alice, you're finally here." He says.

>It's good to see you too, General.
>You do realize I'm still on vacation, right?

I think I know a way to improve PR about Carol's existence and establish some humanity in her.

When she's in her chitin armor during non-combat or low threat situations, she should go bareheaded or have an open face helmet due to the fact she can do partial transformations, and so that the people can see a human face instead that of a monster (also having a collapsible helmet is kinda cool). It may be a small detail, but it can go a long way in humanizing her in the eyes of the public, and in turn, could give Carol a sense of humanity.

On another note, we should try to establish that whenever we're on a mission, Carol does not call us "Mom", and that there is no preferential treatment for either us or her just because we're family.
>>
>>30442772

Or you know we could just have her make the 'head' removable.

Like a helmet.

"It's good to see you too, General." You sigh. "I assume this is something about the secret research going on at this island?"

"Well... yes, actually." Bruttenholm blinks. "Just sharp as ever, I see."

"Ha, I see why you've taken such a liking to her!" Jager chortles. "Now what the hell is going on?"

"What Alice here says is true. We have evidence that one of the companies based on your island is performing illegal magical research. We have most of our squads currently raiding their main headquarters and subsidiary facilities. Alice, since you're already on the ground, I need you to act as the Bureau's representative. It shouldn't be much. All you need to do is accompany Jager as he audits the facility."

"Uh huh, and you know my record with supposedly 'easy' missions." You grumble.

"And I'm sure you'll find a way to salvage. You're our best, after all." Bruttenholm chuckles. "Jager, I expect you to give Alice whatever she needs."

"Got it, Trev." Jager nods. "Consider it done."

"Well, I won't keep you any longer. Good luck to all of you!" Bruttenholm says as his image winks out.

"Well, I'm not expecting a fight or anything." Jager sighs. "But I expect a fight in any situation. Reason why I lived this long."

"Wise words." You nod.

"You gonna bring any of your companions with you?" Jager asks.

"Yeah, I'll bring my own backup." You nod.

"Whatever you want." Jager nods. "Now, I understand that you probably didn't bring any weapons with you. If you want, I can take you down to our armory. You can pick anything you want out of there, within reason, of course.

"Of course." You nod.

You step into the elevator with Jager, closely followed by his bodyguards. It drops down one a pretty damn low level, which you were sure was underground.

"I'm already having Leo and Carol summoned at this moment. The should be meeting us in the armory."

"Thanks." You nod.

Sure enough, as the elevator opens, you're greeted by Leo and Carol.

"Mom!" Carol eyes light up.

"Now Carol." You sigh. "Don't call me Mom when other people are around, okay? It's not professional. Just call me Alice, okay"

"Oh, okay, Alice!" Carol nods rapidly.

"Well, like I said before, you can pick whatever you want." Jager grins as he motions to the countless rows of guns lining the shelves and walls.

You just decide to go with the standard anti-MG loadout. It seemed to be a safe bet. You load up on Deagles and Beowulfs. You know that Carol probably wouldn't need them, but you have her take some weapons anyways, if only to keep up appearances.

"Alright, you all ready? Let's go!" Jager says.

You, Leo, Carol, Jager, and a squad of his private soldiers then march over to a waiting APC, which shuttles you over to the restricted compound Carol was drawn to earlier. You see that the building in question has already been surrounded by Jager's men.

"Report, sergeant." Jager says as he steps out of the APC.

(cont)
>>
>>30444371
"Sir!" One of the soldiers salutes him. "We've secured the building and all of the above ground levels. We also have parts of the underground levels secured, but we're having trouble getting into the main lab."

"Show us."

You're then guided through the building and down a long elevator shaft, and you're reminded of the Bureau lab complex. You shudder as you try not to think about that.

Finally, the elevator grinds to a halt. The doors then slide open to reveal another squad of soldiers standing in front of a large, sealed glass panel door. You suspect it was the type of armored glass rated to take on tank rounds without shattering.

"O-Once again, you have no authority to be in here!" You hear a squeaky voice over an intercom system as you see a scientist on the other side of the door. "We are conducting perfectly legal and valid research under all UN provisions!"

"Oh yeah?" One of the soldiers grunts in the other end of the intercom. "Then why do I see your fellow eggheads burning documents behind you? Open the goddamn door!"

"It's been like this for the past fifteen minutes." The sergeant sighs. "We've already called up engineers to crack the door, but they won't be here for another half hour, and god knows how long it'll take them to actually open the door."

She can eat their eyeballs once they've been processed, tried, and sentenced.
>>
>>30444395
"Carol. Open the door, please." You say. You seriously don't have time for this shit.

"Okay!" Carol says cheerfully as she steps forward. Her hand then hardens into a black armored gauntlet, much to the shock of everybody around her. She then winds back for a punch and sends her fist surging forward, slamming into the glass with a loud THUD that sends shockwaves throughout the entire room. Everything is then silent except for a very subtle crackling sound as the glass cracks.

The scientists' faces look at Carol, absolutely shocked. Carol punches the glass again, and the cracks widen ever more like a growing spider web. At this point, the scientists have already fled. The third punch proves to do the trick, as the thick armored glass finally gives away, shattering into countless pieces.

"The door's down! Go go go!" Jager yells as his troops pour through the breach. "Secure the lab!"

With that, you enter the lab as well, and take a quick glance at a map of the lab.

"We'll take the containment chamber!" You yell as you rush deeper into the facility. In here, it seems it's all scientists, and none put up a fight or try to stop you as you rush past them. You then come up to a set of sealed security doors.

"Carol!" You yell.

"Got it!" Carol nods as both her hands form combat carapace, and she easily rips the door open like it was made of paper.

And once inside, your heart stops at what you see.

Inside the chamber are two pods. One is massive, containing the head of an Invader. An Invader you actually recognize.

ARMAGEDDON-CLASS INVADER

It took... a lot of lives, both normal and magical to take it down. It was the fearsome Invader to have ever stepped foot on Earth The other pod, however, contained what looked like a girl. She was unconscious, but there were dozens of tubes snaking into her body, filled with various fluids you couldn't identify. You notice some of the tubes were snaking into the Invader head, while others led away to somewhere outside the chamber.

"What the fuck have they been doing...?" Leo whispers.

"I intend to find out." You scowl.

"Carol. That Invader is dead. We- I- made sure of that." You say.

"It's not coming from that." Carol shakes her head and points to the unconscious girl. "From HER."

Even more unnerved, you motion for Leo to get the hell out, and you slowly back out of the room taking Carol with you.

"Jager, I want you to secure every fucking square inch of this lab. Nothing in or out. I want this fucking Ishimura found!"

"We're working on it!"

Scowling, you pocket your radio and check your weapons. It was time to go hunting.

You head down to the production line. At first, you don't see anything out of the ordinary. Just some facilities so the lab can fabricate its own equipment. However, as you walk through the room, you notice something.

Those tubes from before...

You follow them deeper into the room to the back, where you see Jager's men cutting a sealed door open. From the looks of it, they're nearly done.

"Do you have any idea what's behind that door?" You ask.

"No ma'am." One of the engineers shakes his head. "That's what we're about to find out."

Finally, with one final cut from the torch, and there's now an opening in the door large enough fro people to go through. The soldiers begin filing through the breach while you follow close behind. What you find is... beyond words.

What the fuck. WHAT THE FUCK." You breathe.

In front of you, you see rows over a dozen captured magical girls, confined in pods and apparently unconscious. You then realize the tubes were carrying their blood. THEIR FUCKING BLOOD.

You suddenly become dizzy, trying to fight the urge to retch. The soldiers around you are similarly unnerved, but they continue to press forward.

"We found him!" One of them shouts, and they push forward a slightly disheveled, but completely unrepentant looking scientist."

"Dr. Ishimura, I presume." You say, trying to regather your nerve.

"Advancing the field of science, of course." Ishimura huffs as he tries to straighten himself out. "I don't expect somebody like you to understand."

"Oh, yeah, I'm sure hooking up a bunch of Magical Girls to a machine that continually sucks their blood out is very hard to understand." You growl, grabbing the scientist by the coat.

"According to the UN Magical Lifeform Treaty, Magical Girls don't count as human and therefore don't have any human rights. We doing nothing illegal here."

"Bull. SHIT." You punch Ishimura again, drawing blood this time. "Live Magical Girls are solely in the Bureau's jurisdiction, otherwise you wouldn't have gone through such lengths to hide this shit! Now, one more time, what the FUCK are you trying to do?!"

"Why, I thought you would have figured it out." Ishimura smirks. "An Invader/Magical Girl hybrid. Think of it, the two most dangerous beings yet encountered by humans, combined! It would be... unstoppable!"

"I'M the most fucking dangerous thing alive right now." You growl. "So you just shoot up some poor girl with Magical GIrl and Invader blood and just hope for the best?"

"Among other things."

You punch Ishimura again.

"Take them out!"

"That's quite impossible." Ishimura shakes his head, now extremely bloodied and disheveled. "Magical Girls are dangerous, you see. We've put them into a permanent vegetative state to keep them under control."

"You mean you fucking lobotomized them!" You were starting to get REALLY angry now.

By this point all of the soldiers have cleared out, and Jager is standing behind you. He glances warily at the magical girls.

"Fine. Get him out of my sight." You grunt.

"You think they'll punish me?" Ishimura laughs. "I'll never see a day in jail, because they'll want what I know!"

There's a loud CRACK as Jager pistol whips the scientist in the head, and he drops like a sack of potatoes.

"That's why I don't like eggheads. They love hearing themselves talk too much." Jager shrugs.

A couple hours later, reinforcements in the form of Lucy's squad and Egan finally arrive to secure the lab.

"Alice." Lucy greets you simply.

"I see you've been busy. At least you didn't blow the whole building up like last time."

"I'll take that as a compliment, thanks."

"Oi, I heard some serious science stuff was going on down here?" Egan's head pokes out from behind Lucy's. "Mind showing me?"

You reluctantly take Egan and show her both the production line and the containment chamber. If Egan was surprised or shocked, she hid it very well. However, you can see a bit of a sparkle in her eyes.

"Interesting. Very interesting. It seems like they were thinking along the same lines we were." Egan nods. "Though of course, we used far more ethical practices."

"So, do those girls have any chance?" You ask.

"They do not, I'm afraid." Egan shrugs. "All of their higher brain functions have pretty much been fried. They're literally braindead in every respect."

"You'd really do that, Egan?" You blink.

"I'm a lot of things, Alice. Cute, ultra smart, eternally tired, and so much more. But most of all, I'd like to think we're at least friends. Dr. Ishimura may not have any sense of right or wrong but I do."

"Thanks, Egan." You smile and give your resident scientist a hug. "Do whatever you think is right. I'm letting my emotions cloud my judgement."

"In that case..." Egan hits a key.

There's a loud alarm klaxon as the life support systems keeping the trapped magical girls alive shut down. In unison, over a dozen monitoring devices screech as their patients begin to flatline.

"It's done." Egan says. "Now to figure out what to do with that hybrid."

With that, the both of you head back up to the containment chamber, where Egan's science team is already crawling all over the containment pods.

"We'll be taking the Invader specimen. We confirmed it's biologically dead, so we'll just use it as raw material. The hybrid, on the other hand, is very much alive. However, we're left in a rather tricky situation."

"Like what?"

"Well, as head scientist, I can make the call on whether we try to salvage this hybrid or not." Egan glances at the containment pod. "We can take it with us and study it further. See how different or similar it is to Carol, and maybe learn a few things from it. However, it does also violate a lot of treaties and laws, and I don't know the first thing about handling or controlling it. It might be better off just destroying it."

"Yeah?"

"It's about that girl that claims she's your sister."

"No. Not a girl." Carol shakes her head. "It's just in the body of one."

"...what?"

"It... it didn't make sense at first. Maybe because I never met an actual live one before, but... but I think that big Invader is inside the girl now."

"What...?" You blink.

"Wait a second..." Egan takes out a tablet and rifles through a few files. "Oh.... this... is interesting."

"Talk to me, Egan."

"Our preliminary scans show an abnormal amount of pure Invader brain cells present in the girl's brain, a much higher concentration than even Carol has. There's a very real possibility that... well..." Egan hesitates.

"Spit it out, Egan."

"There's a possibility the hybrid is basically an Invader in a Magical Girls' body." Egan finishes.

"And you think there's a lot of research potential in it, don't you?" You sigh.

"Oh yes." Egan nods. "A working Invader brain in a human body? This might actually be our chance to figure out how to communicate with one. With Carol's help, of course."

"I don't think Carol wants to be anywhere near that thing." You say. "It gives her the creeps."

"It's nothing like me! I try to talk back to it but I can see there's nothing there! J-just an endless void and the desire to fill it! It's hungry, all the time!"

Yeah, that sort of sounds like an Invader, all right.

"Don't worry, we'll keep it under the strictest of security." Egan tries to assure you. "You still have a day of vacation left, don't you? You should probably use it."

"I guess you're right." You sigh. "Come on, Carol. Egan can handle the rest here."

With that, you and Carol return to the surface, where Leo is waiting for you. You see him casually chatting with Lucy until she notices you arriving, and she slinks off.

"Hey, Alice." Leo greets you. "All finished?"

"More ore less." You sigh. "Was Lucy trying to poach you, again?"

"Yep. Told what I always told her. Not interested."

"I guess you could consider it an honor she's asking for you to join. She's even pickier than I am."

"Yeah, well, I'm happy where I'm at." Leo grins.

Deciding to let the rest of the Bureau take over, you return to the hotel with Leo and Carol to get some rest.

---

The next day, you wake up and perform the same morning ritual, cleaning yourself up and going to get breakfast. Carol, for the most part, seems to have recovered from her ordeal yesterday, considering how fast she was shoveling pancakes and bacon into her mouth.

You check your schedule. So far it seems like the only place you haven't yet visited yet was the spa. Looking over the brochure, you see that they offered several services.

"Yeah! I wanna try it, too!" Carol says happily.

"Spas aren't exactly my type of thing." Leo frowns.

"Fine, be party pooper. Me and Carol are still going." You say.

"Have fun." Leo sighs.

"Come on, Carol." You say, leading her away.

The spa is really damn nice looking. Everything looked clean and ultramodern. There was even a natural hot springs, fueled by the dormant volcanic activity under the island.

You and Carol quickly change into your bathing suits and slip into the warm water. Even though it was warm, your entire body shivers at the sensation. You can actually FEEL your entire body relaxing, as the warm waters worked their magic. Meanwhile, Carol was just sort of floating around aimlessly, likewise entranced by the waters.

"Oh man, this feels a lot better than I thought it would..." You sigh.

"Oh, in a certain context that statement would be outright scandalous." You hear a very deadpan and very familiar voice say.

Goddamnit, Egan.

"Egan, I see you're enjoying the hot springs as well."

"Well, I couldn't pass up the chance. This spa is one of the most top rated, plus I sort of wanted to see you in a swimsuit, so it was a double victory for me today."

"When has that ever stopped you?"

"Well..." Egan looks away for a second. "What's your opinion on Leo?"

I just don't see Leo as a love interest. He's not very interesting imho. Good squaddie, just not a very noteworthy character.

This can be fixed, of course.

"Well, I consider a good friend and subordinate, if that's what you mean." You shrug.

"Ah, in that case..." Egan starts blushing a bit, though you're not sure if it's her or just the water temperature. "What would you think if I tried... erm... initiating romantic relations with him?"

"Like... a date?" You blink.

"That would be the term, yes."

Either Egan is serious...

Or shes fishing to see if Alice sees Egan in a romantic light.

Oh wow. This is going to descend into drama either way.
>>
>>30450749
She's in for disappointment given the current "no yuri ever" sentiment here.
>>
>>30450759
Dunno about that, all I see right now is "its complicated."

For moment, as you blink, you see Mirai sitting where Egan is, and suddenly memories come flooding back, like back in junior high, before you became magical girls, how you and Mirai and Jo would gossip about boys and deciding on which ones to ask out-

And suddenly the image is gone as you blink again.

"Alice, are you all right?" Egan blinks curiously. "You're short of breath. Are you having an allergic reaction?"

"N-No, I'm fine." You assure her. "Just another one of those little panic attacks."

"I see." Egan nods.

"Well anyways, good for you Egan. I guess there IS room for love in that cold scientist's heart of yours." You say, snaking an arm around her shoulders. "Remember to give me all the juicy details, okay?"

"I'll consider it."

With that, you lean back in the bath to soak in the warm water. You're not sure why, but it felt like things were changing, and changing fast. First there was Loki's reappearance, Carol's awakening, and now Egan of all people considering asking Leo out. You have a feeling that the world in general was moving a lot faster know.

And you fear that it was going to leave you behind.

"Think fast, Mom!" Carol says as she splashes water into your face.

"Goddamnit, Carol!" You laugh as retaliate with your own splash, completely forgetting what you were thinking about just a second ago.

>And that's it for tonight! Tune in next week for the next thread! And don't forget PJ Witches on Friday and Cyberpunk Idols on Saturday!
>>
>>30450749
Or she's hoping to fish a reaction out of us to see if we like Leo.
>>
Nice running Merc, and G'night everyone! I will have the next Tribunal meeting by Saturday.
>>
>>30450776
Dammit, I was hoping for a Leo route but....whatever/
>>
>>30450776
Well, we didn't need any relationships besides a Mother/Daughter one. I hope we can get to some actual fighting against MGs soon.
>>
I am conflicted at these recent developments
>>
>>30450803
Don't worry, this revelation could help Alice move forward in the world.
>>
>>30450827
This. Carol is enough.
>>
>>30450803

Still possible.

what if alice is part of the harem and not the harem master
>>
>>30450827
So we're going under the Nanoha ruling?

Again the feeling I have for that are a little weird if not bad.
>>
>>30450870
I guess it is a bit strange, but I think that is due to Alice not exactly having plans after dealing with the MG threat.
>>
>>30450870
pretty much how I feel about it.

its just little odd for me...
>>
>>30450870

Feels odd to.

This is new. For a quest at least.

Is this what a midlife crisis feels like?
>>
>>30450950
I think so... I wish I don't have to go through that.
>>
>>30450930
I kind of worry about it. Right now, Alice only has the job and Carol. Once the job is done, we need to find a new purpose and fast.
>>
>>30450930
Probably, I don't even have an explanation (a coherent one at least) but the only sense of weirdness I had was with Nanoha, thus the Nanoha ruling
>>30450943
Agreed,
>>30450950
I think this has happen before at some point but I'm not sure I like it.
>>
>>30450999
Oh well, who knows what Merc has planned for Alice? Maybe it will work out in the end if we play the cards right.
>>
>>30451028

How to resolve this love triangle though. Hmm.

Its obvious that leo likes alice.
>>
>>30451105
so we take him into our bed, and then when he's on us, we hold him in place and Egan penetrates him from behind?
>>
>>30451128

...so turn it into leo's harem of alice and egan?
>>
>>30451105
Well we don't even know what Leo thinks of the situation, so we still have some hope.
