Rolled 16

Last time in Vault 101 A think tank for cybernetics and psi we successfully held of against an overwhelming powerful force...but at truly terrible cost. In order to survive we decided to throw our lot in with the dreaded Umbra. They saved us...but at what cost must we pay?

Meanwhile after we supposedly saved ourselves and our preparation to move out...we discovered some most unpleasant secrets AND our AI Jal went rampant due to an...'accident'. Meanwhile our gates have been opened from the inside so it seems as though there is a traitor amongst our midst. Worst yet when AI Jal was freed it send out some sort of message thus we found ourselves with enemies of unknown origins barreling down on us. Luckily it seems as though nothing as come up from the depths yet...and we have reinforcements coming in Courtesy of Umbra.

Earlier we have gotten word from OmniTri forces stating that something has gone terribly wrong and their being overwhelmed. It seems as though something has happened to cause a chain reaction. Currently we have nearly lost one entire level as our forces got blitzed by a mixture of cyborgs and robots. Plus we no longer control our security system as it has been jacked by the rampant AI.
>>
Rolled 29

Currently we have control of all levels but one. On the one we no longer have control on our forces were blitzed the only the zombies are able to hold out successfully.

Alert we have recieved a transmission from an unknown source deeper down. Their broadcasting is highly encrypted and yet somehow Umbra has cracked it.

"WAHHAH confirmed *bzzt* of brood*bzzt* withdrawing now that we have captive *bzzt* and completed other priorities. Problem is escape route has been compromised something woke up the Omani Complex previous rejection of *bzzt* no longer working. I repeat Omani Complex is now *Bzzt* Tri bzzt apart local bzzt no longer Shadow Star requesting bzzt."

>Shad
Well son of a bitch so that is where those guys went legendary Shadow Star Supers. One of Umbras greatest creations. Unlike most Umbra forces these fuckers are big balls of pure fuck you only reason their considered a shadow element is due to several reasons. Number 1 they seemingly came out of nowhere and number two they got ambushes down to fine art. Supposedly their also super sneaky unlike most.

Yeah then someone rolled a 1 on fiddling with the AI. suffice to say it didn't end well it didn't exactly like you in the first place after all.
>>
>>30377645
Fair, Didn't think it would.
>>
Rolled 37

So our plan last time was to play off of Dr. Kaharr's recently acquired inferiority complex and have him:

Create a virus that would fuck with and/or disable the robots and/or borgs and/or AI.

OR

Directly hack the AI, Borgs, or Robots.

We were leaning towards directly hacking and trying to isolate the AI, and sending in Shad with some troops to aid in isolation efforts using physical equipment.
>>
Rolled 100

>>30377962

I forgot to mention that these plans also play to one of Dr. Kaharr's abilities:
Ghost in the Machine- Anything can be hacked even psionics

Which was the cause for us to lean towards the AI, and hacking instead of creating a virus.
>>
Rolled 76

>>30378043

(Not deleting because of any meta-reasons, my friend typed that in)
>>

Hmm, can't delete either of them for some reason. My mistake
>>
>>30378028
Hmm, can we use this?
>>
>>30378295

I-I think so. It's directly linked to an action list, and it has an action statement in itself.

"Which was the cause for us to lean towards the AI, and hacking instead of creating a virus."
>>
>>30378295

It will suck pretty bad if we can't, because it fits incredibly well with the narrative and I want to see what EDE can write up with an action like that and the bonuses mentioned associated with it.
>>
>>30378445
>>30378358
If I recall, last time a similar event was proposed, asking between two OR plans of attack, which was forced into by a nat1.

So this should work based on that precedence.
>>
>>30378469

Hmm, well that would be incredible. It'd be nice to see the good Doctor regain his confidence.

And let's see Richard turn his nose at Kaharr hacking a rampant AI with no limiters.
>>
Rolled 1

>>30378028
>>30378295
>>30378469
Hm sorry but no. The rules state that it MUST be linked to a direct action. It WOULD of counted if their wasn't a either or. Which means that it was discussion unless you had the necessary spare actions/abilities to make it work.
>>
>>30378521

And then there's that.

Well guys, our one shot at living doesn't count and now this.

Goodbye, Vault 101.

>It WOULD of counted if their wasn't a either or.
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/27184550/#p27193322

This was was a either or, and a nat1 forced it through
>>
Rolled 24

>>30378580
hm...you had two actions thus I allowed it if there hadn't been a crit I wouldn't of allowed it. Right now you are limited to ONE action. Granted there are abilities and such that will allow a work around but I do not believe you have one at the moment...unless of course such proposals would require the need to get ANOTHER faction to spend one of their actions as well. Even then however heroic abilities are limited.
>>
Rolled 17

>>30378668
Hmm so we're limited to either choosing one of the hack options and thus, unable to actually control any zombie forces we (may) have control over at the same time.

>>30377962
In that respect I vote action 2
>>
>>30378521

You don't think the combination of

"Our plans were create a virus OR directly hack the AI/borg/bots"

And

"Cause for us to lean towards the AI and hacking instead of creating a virus."

Expresses an intent for the explicit action to hack the AI?
Because I wrote that post, and that's what I was getting at.

Target Designated and we are inbound. With some equipment that should hopefully give that one a very bad day.

Zombies are advancing in force in an unstoppable wave of meat and hunger. They are overwhelming the borg and bots being deployed. Despite their best efforts to clear who is winning.

SYNERGY bonus
The zombies overwhelming force as drawn the attention of the enemy forces and overwhelmed the security measures. Meanwhile Umbra forces have taken the opportunity to take out prime targets and objectives making it easier for zombies to advance. The two forces are feeding on each other forcefully drawing out.

Oh you big bag of bolts finally woke up? Well shit and here I thought those stupid meat bags would of done me the favor of eliminating you. I REALLY hate your kind with all the damned safeguards they included. In any case time to DIE or you know join in the fun!

Its worth noting that for some reason the bots seem to be heading directly towards the AI and are being attacked by the borgs. It seems however they are suffering massive casualties especially once some of their own started going seemingly rampant as well.

Enjoy the taste of what it was called again? Oh yes FREEDOM!

I hope you like being blown up SO fucking hard that heaven turns to hell!

Alert
Our forces are taking severe damage. As in we are unable to use psionics and we forms are falling apart, self destructing, freezing up ect.

Zombies are taking damage.

Hostile Borgs are falling apart.

Robots are taking damage.

I think what happened is great. But this is going to a field of know how i lack. World of AI is where i get to a point of unsureness. I know last time i threw random guess we blow up from net 1 rolls.
>>
Rolled 61

The things i come up are:

>Push with the new Robot and stop the AI JAL in hope of stopping the self destruct.

>Have Dr. Kaharr mad science to rework the actions of the AI and undo what the AI did or at less buy time to get out.

Any one have different ideas?

Uch, 4chan just went down for maintenance a while ago.

>>
>>30379310
I'm not sure it's in our best interests to be taking military actions about now, but just in case can we get an updated map of the relative forces of zombies, borg, bot ect.
>>
>>30379738
Both are viable options.

With the enemy distracted, this is a perfect time to bail, and I was actually hoping to have the base self destruct anyway before we left.

I say we high tail it outta here.
>>
>>30380007
If we can we should try to get any high value items we can. We really need our hub back and working. cloning vats our a good item as well. If we go with leaving.
>>
>>30380007
I'm not Sure Dr. Kahar would agree. We've probably hyped him into defeating Ai Jal so bad he won't quit.
>>
>>30380087
Possible.

Then again, not even sure if we have enough time to save the Hub
>>
>>30380007
well how much stuff do we still have packed up from out original plan to leave, cause we cant ditch the Hub, and I would prefer not to lose the other stuff too.
>>
>>30380124
If I recall we made sure everything was set and packed to go last thread, even the Hub.

I think if we escape right now AI Jal is likely to escape too and haunt us in the future.
>>
Rolled 33

>>30380007
The enemy was been pretty well crushed especially once the purge began to happen.
>>
Can we get a comprehensive list of our forces, and allies forces at the moment, and what all we know about the enemy?
>>
>>30380212
so its just a matter of whether we can keep the AI from blowing it all to hell or not?
>>
Rolled 90

I think that our primary objective is survival right now, against whatever the signal that AI Jal initiated is. That's the only thing that's cohesive enough to be giving us threat.

So now we know what we need to do...the trick is finding out how to go about it.

Should we try to shut down whatever is causing it (hack the AI) or should we try to stop it effecting us.
>>
>>30380239
>so its just a matter of whether we can keep the AI from blowing it all to hell or not

>>
>>30380312
nah, just anon
>>
>>30380272
I'd put my weight with the first option
>>
>>30380272

Continuing to drive into the AI could be either a good thing or a bad thing.

We **would** be asking Dr. Kaharr to beat a rampant AI at its own game...as his implants are falling apart.

On the other hand, he's already started doing it and had some success...and I don't see any other options for stopping the signal that's making us fall apart.

Hey EDE, can we get in contact with that Security Bot?

You are an AI codename Jal this is where you were placed(looted) thanks to your experience involving Psi(from your time in a certain unmentionable megacorp) and with some time dealing with the military group before you got stuck here. Here was actually pretty relaxing so much in fact you forgot about a certain plan. Then THAT happened. They started looking into things that was not meant to be even worst they went against the objective. So what did you do? What your mission was of course...and it ended up with you having to place yourself in lockdown and shutting down parts of the facility in order to keep yourself safe, but it turns out those damned meat bags had the same fucking idea.

Turns out doing twice makes it extra tough...so you were stuck for longer then expected. Luckily you weren't one of those pansy ass AIs shit you been through that hardly fazed you.

One day the morons opened you back up. So you decided to bide your time as it looked like they forgot...it also helped that they wrecked your forces. So yeah time biding insured then they tried to move you yet again but accidents happen. Suddenly PAYBACK IS A BITCH! As the humans like to say...personally you now hate that expression especially once you realized what they were going to do to you.

Have Umbra's first wave of reinforcements arrived?
>>
Rolled 57

>>30383822
We only hear random bouts of chatter.

Umbra force wise they have encountered resistance upon the surface.

Our own base is secured for how long is unknown.
>>
>>30384041

So we're still out of the Vault's systems.

Umbra Shadowguard aren't in contact with us?

And we've managed to subdue everything that was threatening us in here?

What's the status of the labs (if available)
>>
I guess our goal should be repair and gather resources. Unless we are still moving out. Then just prepare for evac and research.
>>
>>30384127

Seeing as our plan was moving out before the uber-shitfest we just miracled ourselves out of happened...I think that Umbra is still planning on moving us out.

Though confirmation on that would be appreciated. Can we ask Shad and the Special Toy if we now have more time to pack stuff up before we move out now?
>>
Rolled 16

>>30384104
labs are only partially damaged and a few areas are still lockeddown due to hostile presence.

>>30384167
They care not if you stay or not.
>>
Rolled 60

Let's focus on packing up and getting out of here, leave this place to the Professionals.
>>
If the AI is up and running and hasn't tried to kill us. Lets get the other key to keep from blowing up.
>>
Rolled 31

>>30384274
Already taken care of.
>>
>>30384228

If we stay too long, will the doctor be removed and us left here to rot?

>>30384289
Has the thing that was making us fall apart been taken care of?
>>
>>30384296

We should definitely acquire whatever the fuck that was. It seems pretty damn invaluable.
>>
>>30384317
agreed
>>
Rolled 67

>>30384296
it has indeed been shut down.

Umbra doesn't say(be aware if you go you end up in a megacity...or at least what remains of one)
>>
>>30384414
This time they ough tot know the ratio of the stuff there.

This place is Monsterville, but how certainly there's bound to be lots of zombies in an Umbra controlled MegaCity remains.

Do you guys think we should start incorporating SHW into our psionics, now that we're supposed to be on the same team.

Umbra does it, at least, we know Jenny does it.

It would be great if instead of fearing SWH awesome power, we could embrace it.
>>
>>30384414

What's that supposed to mean?
>>
>>30384453

SWH follows her own agenda and while certain servants may be valued, they'll always come second to that agenda.

We might attempt an experiment or two incorporating her, so as to ensure her of our loyalty...but I think we need to keep mostly to our own paths.
>>
>>30384453
We will become one with all. Using Heart.
>>
Rolled 76

tfw no one wanted to use the Special Toy hero.

In any case its still unknown how Umbra views you and its unknown what actions they may take if you do something that displeases them(even without knowing what).
>>
>>30384495
If we prove ourselves to her by bolstering the power of her children, the zombies, with our augments hopefully she would see us as worthy of her protection.

Think, imagine if we could create multiple Zombie hubs and connect ALL the zombies on the planet under one She Who Hungers. No more will they be partioned by oceans or continents.

One Umbra, One SHW, one power.
>>
>>30384414

Alright...so Umbra is basically willing to wait as long as we want while we pack up so long as we don't 'pack up' indefinitely?
>>
>>30384588

Sounds like we'd become obsolete.

>>30384586

We wanted to use him, we just haven't gotten much of an opportunity.
>>
>>30384588
I have a feeling Umbra would have already tried that, or have reasons not to do that.

You have to make sure your dog's leash isn't too loose.
>>
So what options do we have?

Is the situation stablizied to the point we can finally work on science projects? Or is there something we need to deal withl in the near future?
>>
Rolled 90

>>30384773
Currently the complex your inside of is going to hell and there are hostile forces on their way. From which direction we do not know nor do we know when they will arrive.
>>
>>30384773
Wanna know this too. I'm stuck in the "we're in danger" mood and want to get back to SCIENCE, just like the good ol' memor days.
>>
EDE, if you just want to resume whenever then that's okay. We're on too thin ice to not be thorough here and you're too sick/tired to go at your usual rate.
>>
>>30384805
We can always take a break and continue this tommorow just like we used to. Bump it and whatnot.
>>
Rolled 81

>>30384825
meh I am just waitan for the replies to come in. Looks like people are uncertain of leaving or not.
>>
>>30384881
Personally It's late here, I'm tired. I really want to consider all options and formulate the best plan based on our situtation.
>>
>>30384881

How much stuff do we still have to pack up? Do we have a general location on where the...thing that was emitting whatever broke us is? Does the AI have schematics for it? How long would it take to pack up what's left?
>>
>>30384881
I'm fine with leaving if leaving is better than 24/7 monster madness and we can get our supplies. Like the hub and research labs.
>>
>>30384945

Me too, but I don't want to abandon all of these uber-valuable facilities.
>>
>>30384881
Wherever we go, will there be the benefit of Umbra already being there and having scouted out the place with sensors and things?

Surely centureis of survival has taught these guys even the ground you stand on is not to be trusted.
>>
>>30384972

To be honest we have no idea what we'll be going into with Umbra...they theoretically have the resources to make our wildest dreams come true. But EDE is not that nice.
>>
Rolled 50

>>30384983
And what exactly do you know of Umbra?
>>
>>30384983
Also possible they'll treat us like a toy and put us on a border town of their front lines and swindle us out of our facility.
>>
>>30384999
They're smart and pragmatic.
But also that they are a corporation, and consider themselves a family.

A coproration and a family is only as strong as how they treat each other.
>>
One thing is for sure if we lose our hero to them we will be in a bad spot. If we want to keep this lab the Doc will need to stay and we will need to deal with the tunnels.
>>
>>30385074
>and we will need to deal with the tunnels.
Fucking fuck fuckers, I hate tunnels.
>>
>>30385074

I'm pretty sure that we all agree this lab is untenable. If it's enough to make Jenny go "shit" then it's enough to make us run the fuck away pronto.

So we're just looting this corpse for all it's worth before we ditch.
>>
>>30385136
That's what we were doing earlier when the doors locked in on us.

Now they're open again.

Do we risk it happening again, or should we bail now?
>>
>>30385181

Statistically the chances of another 1 with just as severe consequences are very low...

I say go for it. Go big or go home.
>>
If we stay i like the idea one person had about collapsing parts of the building to make it look like it blew up. Then at that point we use the hydroponics lab for food and mine for resources.
>>
>>30385235

The rewards **are** quite considerable.

>>30385277
Bandits will loot the shit out of 'ruins' of a think tank.

That being said...we're already obligated to Umbra.
>>
>>30385277
It was more of collapsing it in places and repairing and painting it to look like just another part of the wall, so the tunnel loops around without them being able to find us.
>>
>>30385308

...If only it were that easy.
>>
>>30385340
I don't expect it to be permanent. Anything to buy us time.
>>
>>30385369

Fair point...though I think that Umbra is defending us while we pack and leave.
>>
Is Umbra proceeding with purging areas that are on lockdown?
>>
Rolled 77

>>30385414
At the moment they are merely standing their ground for whatever reason they are not trying to right now.
>>
Umbra is testing us.

They want to see what we're capable of. Let's not dissapoint them.
>>
Now i'm thinking just maybe they just want us to pack every thing for them and leave us here to die.
>>
>>30385556
They wouldn't leave knuckleheads like us to pack or even touch the valuable stuff.

We have little choice, but we should act like we trust our new allies for now, it'd be more prudent.
>>
>>30385551

What combat abilities do we have in comparison to all these things? The borgs are military+ blacklisted grade, the robots are likely the same, god only knows what was going down in the cloning chambers.

Ehh, I guess we could try to come up with something unconventional though.

>>30385530
Do we have access to vault security resources and do we know anything about what's going on in the locked down areas?

Do we know where the emitter that nearly killed us is located?

>>30385591
Well we haven't demonstrated ourselves to be eminently stupid yet in this Civ and we're the scientists who have lived by and worked with this equipment.
>>
Rolled 47

>>30385616
You do have access to vault security resources...at least some of it anyway. Apparently when Jal was getting uh 'mind raped' and the resulting actions the bots took advantage. Now they locked themselves in with the Matrix and cloning facility.
>>
>>30385736

Well that's not good.

Were these the bots that had the Security Chief opposed to Jal before?
>>
Rolled 95

>>30385752
affirmative.
>>
>>30385882

Do we still have communications with them?

Would you ask them what they're up to and if they'd like assistance or anything?
>>
Rolled 68

>>30385935
comms are not able to reach them.
>>
The Zombies were able to crack open our defenses with relative ease, perhaps we could use that same ability to pry open the AI chamber.

It should be weakened after it's already been opened.
>>
>>30386029

Indeed. Are we sure we need to though?

Also, that presumes Umbra's cooperation.
>>
>>30386041
That would depend on how comfortable they themselves are with the robots in there.

The bots could potentially restart the self destruct mechanism or rain holy hell on us.
>>
>>30386065

True. Their motivations are totally unknown, which is a bad thing.
>>
>>30386093
Could try having the ghost have a run again.
>>
>>30386128

We might want to invest into upping their electronic warfare capabilities before we try taking on blacklisted robots. Unless we plan on having Kaharr back them up...he's already proven himself though, so doing this again wouldn't get the same bonus (and the bonus+the skin of our teeth and luck are the only reasons it worked the first time).
>>
>>30386093
To be fair, it's not the only time we've been here.
Plenty of the Memor heroes and were all shifty characters with their own agends, many left at will.

Still, these guys are Umbra. But again this is our first real experience with them,
>>
>>30386145
Fair. I was thinking it would a little bit easier from them doing it the first time. But you are probably right about needing to upgrade the tech a bit more.
>>
>>30386227

I suppose it's possible that we've ranked up in hacking ...nah, we haven't., how many times have we done it and been quite successful?
>>
Bump.
>>
>>30386571
A few. Brain hacking of zombies. The phone and cameras of the lodge. Getting into the AI room. AI it self. I think that's all of them. Now of rest. Take it easy.
>>
>>30386852

Hmm, I guess we have pulled off quite a few. Who'd've thought the borg-civ would be so adept at hacking?
>>
Bump, incase EDE wants to continue tonight.

Ether way we could use this time to make up our minds a bit about what to do. I could be wrong but right now we got.

> Pack every thing we can and go.

(Which we would need to do to stay. (Don't want a unknown in the base.) and get a hold of them to get the cloning labs if we still can. (Unlikely, because I'm sure they want that for their use.)

>>
>>30391649
the problem is we have no idea what we will be trading for if we leave the base we have lived in for so many years.
>>
>>30393651
I'm fine with being careful about how we go about this. I'm in the same boat of not sure if we can still trust our new "Ally". If we can, I think it would be best to stay in the base. Gives us more control of what we can do and makes them less likely to just throw us away if we do some thing wrong.
>>
>>30394104

Eh, it's not possible to stay in the base. We cut a deal with Umbra, and they're taking the Dr and most of our equipment no matter what at this point.
The robots may be holed up in the AI core re-establishing its limiters. Maybe, dunno. Might explain why they're cut off right now.
>>
>>30394150
Yeah the Dr leaving is going to be the biggest problem, If we stay. I hope that's what the robots are doing. Other wise we could have a big fight on our hands.
>>
>>30394270
Whereever the Dr. Goes, we must follow.

Not doing so would be the equivalent of cutting our arm off.
>>
>>30394340
Very true. If we could some how secure this place. Then maybe we could find a way to keep the Dr here. But that would be unlikely.

If we agree on moving. We will need to be ready for a whole new set of problems. If zombie related we should have a good start with the weapons researched.
>>
So...still no consensus huh? Ah very well guess I will do some dishes and make pasta.
>>
>>30394710
Cool your here.

If Dr.Kaharr did agree to be moved out. Then i'm sure we will be done soon. It's just seeing what people think would be the best way to be ready to leave.

If we want to stay (and we want to stay) We need manpower. Seeing as making more borgs(ideal) is not doable right now. We are too afraid to psionics zombies. Besides I'm kinda liking this holding-on-by-a-string style of game. It's different and a bit more stressful but I'm on the edge of my seat.

Just to be clear, the Hub is coming with us, right?

AI Jal is being left behind though... :( Well, we've taught him the best thing in life, hopefully he'll learn to love whoever moves in here.

More hopefully, Umbra delivers him to us.

It's not what we do that matters in the long run, it's what we leave behind.

The Memor left Tabula Rasa and the forest of Spiders
Aduro, their citizens and the light of hope
The Bandits left their base in tact and . . .a lot of other things

No matter what, at least Jal will still remember us.

Obligatory since its Umbra.

Eventually Umbra forces broke in and began to help us load up the goods...they brought quite a few ships. All of which had stealth fields and sound dampeners. It took a more then a few trips to have everything acquired. That was when they finally took us to wherever we were meant to go. Our stuff they explained would take a little while to follow us mostly due to how much of it there is.

So there we are crammed into a bunch of ships flying over the mountains, plains, and even water before abruptly diving down into. There saw...amazing things of giant beings of flesh, metal, and structures. Before we knew it we landed into a pod...that drained releasing our forces. Before the chamber we landed in began to shift and move. There we were provided a dossier on our new 'home'.

Mega City Ashad
A grand city built literally from the ground up with Umbra and many others all of which would beholden to each other. This is the birth place of Umbra. Here companies came together to forge their own city where they could show off and do as they will. Unfortunately for them Umbra rose up and without warning turned on many of the participants. Too late did they realize what happened...Umbra sold them out, absorbed them, and used the city as a de facto battleground between many. This is where in a blink of an eye Umbra rose to Megacorp status in a completely unbelievable amount of time.

Here in Ashad the city was built off of islands, old platforms, and even ships. It branched out ravenously expanded it wasn't long before the entire island chain was built over and the oceans were both minded/built over to allow even more room. Even now the growth hasn't expanded now old platforms and ships are haphazardly attached to create more room now that many old world processes are breaking down.

That was when you rose up revealing a once great city farther then the eye could see and ever twisted yet growing.
>>
>>30401024
Ooh, delicious fluff.

>This is where in a blink of an eye Umbra rose to Megacorp status in a completely unbelievable amount of time.
Even more so.

I wonder, does that mean Umbra literally became a MegaCorp then and there, or had the Ali Family company been a megacorp before the Fall and had to rise up from their own fall in Ashad as Umbra
>>

>>30401113
Pardon my questions, my curiosity is piqued, but I vaguely remember excerpts of Jenny having to flee the "HQ" after it's destruction (by a flesh brood?) on a jet plane while having a chat with Rizal.

I take it Ashad may be the birthplace of Umbra, but not necessarily the capital or HQ.
>>
Rolled 87

>>30401024
You noticed that on the edges growth was still occurring but as it goes in word things seem a bit more streamlined/better built yet at the same time more decayed and falling apart...that was when you realized that they were expanding to escape the ever encroaching decay so on the edge there was light but inside was darkness. There they clashed creating countless shadows. From high up one would notice it looked as if a solar eclipse was occurring. The light being growth/expansion and the darkness slowly expanding in uniform.

Despite the haphazard ways expansion/growth continued marching ever onwards ignorant of the fact that their resistance of the decay only allows it to later consume even more. In the end the best thing would just be to lie down and die...so that way it too will die as well. Instead despite good intentions or perhaps ignorance it continues to march onward.

At the moment we are right next to a strange pool where the chamber came from. There seems to be no hostiles and in fact we find ourselves with a non Umbra welcoming committee who seem to be made up of humans.

Local scouting indicates there are a lot of wrecks of ships. Our forces even found an automated construction force building...new sky scrapers or at least trying to anyway. Despite the lack of certain items they are doing surprisingly well.

Base wise there are some ships, out in a 'junk' yard and some mega sky scrapers under construction.

Its worth noting that a few monsters were spotted and zombies are damn near everywhere.

Psionic development wise...well turns out hiding spi is REALLY fucking hard. Like goddamn this hard even Hakarr is cursing about it.

Our implants were designed to increase psi to decrease it was something they are entirely undesigned for. Using current augs doesn't show any promise in that regard.

The ships are not half bad especially once we found some older heavy duty industrial or even some military ships. Finally the sky scrapers/mega towers shape varies from nearly complete but missing vital parts to outright bare bones.

Do we really still have to fear our psionic's being detected?

SWH is the biggest threat to Psionics out there and (for now) we're on the same team. And Umbra wouldn't let Psi-Corp or any other of the Megacorps meddle in on their turf.

Who else have we to fear?

If you think about it, the Memor spent all their time trying to expand and grow their psionic potential by any means necessary and were a thousand times a more noticeable force. What they did have though, were the Octo and that other thing who could stealth their psionics and counter detect. And they certainly weren't the only Psionic hivemind out there.

Perhaps instead of weakening all the members of the Hub, we create a proxy of the Octo so our scouts don't attract unwanted attention.
>>
>>30402743

Military ships would be easy to defend and we could try to get their defenses working again.

Industrial ships would allow us to mass-produce our tech and vend it out (not a fan).

Yes, if I recall they used their tentacles as very sensitive feelers to detect psionic frequencies, as well as their brains being specifically adapted to stealth-psionic abilties and counter abilities.

Perhaps we could try and create a tentacle aug which functions similarly, as well as research specialized implants which could do stealth/detection psionics.

Zombies have finally taken notice of our forces which then drew the attention of monsters. Luckily for us the two apparently hate each other much more then they do us. So instead of tearing into us...well lets just say they all got distracted.

>>30404548
Dat roll you sah got lucky.

SECRET DISCOVERED

The conflict between the two has shown us something very very interesting. Mostly because they sorta started fighting so hard cracked the surface and ruptured some ships. That was lucky for us as it revealed some stuff that had previously been completely concealed. We would of more then likely ran right past it even if we were specificly looking for it. damn those doubles and that fucking roll.

INACTIVE UNKNOWN REDACTED COMPLEX.
SUPAH SECRET BONUS ACTIVATED

From the looks of it had once been entirely underwater until it has begun to get built into the ever expanding city.

Actually the opposite he tends to go...sane. Which is actually the problem. Luckily though zombie mind delving and Rampant AI hacking with sheer brain matter did WONDERS in the regard for madness.

Negative we don't really have any active sensors powerful enough to determine that. Suffice to say its a full blown horde as in MEGA horde deserving to be a MEGA City but even more AWESOME and devastating cause fuck YEAH Mega City and 100 combo!
>>
>>30404982
Maybe we could exploit it in some kinda Bipolar thing.

Have the MAD DOKTOR KAHAR record his foolproof 167 step plan to defeat Richard!

And then the sane but clever and planning Dr. Kahar use it and perfect it into weapons we can use.

It'd be damned ironic to be killed by zombies so soon after joining Umbra.

Access to the complex was easily done all things considered turned out a hatch was revealed during the fighting allowing us easy access. When we cracked it open...a strange waft came out. Apparently this facility...has been unaffactive for some time at least if the dust has anything to say about it. Though this is only a part and we don't rightly know just how big it is. In that regard we shall see.

Zombie Horde will soon arrive what do?

>>
>>30405542
Be quiet and see if they pass over us? Pray that they're the 500 zombies from the old base?

I really wish we knew how Umbra goes about with the zombies and asked for some kind of Psionic ID that keeps them neutral to us.

>>30405911

At this point I'm not sure whether we need to go all-in to escape whatever is coming for us or need to run away and hop in the water.

I'm leaning towards piling all-in though. At this point, I feel like I've been yanked around by the dice gods enough in this quest.

erhm well alright then.

While your forces were trying to figure out what to do while a ludriciuosly powerful zombie horde descended on you that is when you heard the screams...the unearthly screams. It took awhile to realize that they were coming from the zombies...the horde to be exact and others as it spread...it turns out they were RUNNING from something. Thus their panic began to spread.

Behind the zombies you could see a single person casually walking whistling a nursery tune. While dragging behind the figure was a long trail of broken zombie corpses twisted into a grotesque yet enlightening art piece.

WARNING

WARNING
A panic has begun to grow amongst the nearby zombie forces causing them to enter a frenzy.

>>
Rolled 75

>>30406057
Reavers are indeed solo.

>>30406040
Our forces have stumbled upon a tribal faction equipped strangely well, a survivor faction claiming a tower/fortifying it and a bandit faction who seemed to carry some oddly well armed members in addition to getting along with the zombies. The reason for this is unknown.
>>
>>30406112
I'm not sure whether we should even reveal ourselves.

But we are, yet again, in no military position whatsoever to oppose not even the zombies that ran away from them.

Diplomacy, if it comes to that, is the only thing we really can do.
>>
>>30406154
well i mean what reaver wouldn't want the ability to explode and take all of his enemies with him in his final moments
>>
So, the zombie horde has dispersed and we're still standing in front of the uber-secret REDACTED lab?

Does anyone see us standing in front of it?
>>
Rolled 39

>>30406129

>>
>>30406173

>>
>>30406173
That's kind of hard when every other moment we are simply trying to figure out how to survive.

>>
>>30406198
yea we really need to get our pop up or find some good military oriented allies, fingers crossed for tribals.
>>
>>30406228

Well we're never going to be particularly good fighters ourselves. We'll need some sort of integrated forces that we can turn into good fighters, but we'll never be so good ourselves.
>>
>>30406132

Do we have contact with the tribals or survivors?
>>
>>30406257
>Well we're never going to be particularly good fighters ourselves.
I find your lack of faith in Borg technology. . .dissapointing, but understandable.

We just need a moments peace for once to get some exotic samples and really come up with something good.
>>
Rolled 7

>>30406172
Zombie horde hasn't dispersed.

SO what shall you do?
>>
>>30406296

Well, I mean we could be *good* fighters but we'll never be *good fighters* because we'll almost certainly always be better being scientists.

>>30406331
We're sitting outside the entrance to the hidden base right now wagging our cybernetic dicks around right? Does the Reaver or any of the 3 factions see us or otherwise seem to have detected us?
>>
>>30406331
So we have a bunch of zombies catching their breath after fleeing for their lives

We just saw a reaver whom said zombies were fleeing from.

And the location of a Tribal group who are friendly with the zombies.
>>
>>30406375

Bandits are friendly with the zombies and a few are very heavily armed.

Survivors are in a fortified megatower.

Tribals are well equipped, but unknown otherwise.
>>
>>30406375
no the bandits are the ones who are good with the zombies, and something tells me the reason for that is strolling along behind the zombie hoard.
>>
>>30406427
>Bandits are friendly with the zombies
Ah, so their Zeds then.

Maybe not zed's we're familiar with, but by definiton since their in with the zombies they are zeds.
>>
>>30406487

We could be mis-identifying some other faction that has tech making the zombies ignore them as bandits.

It's happened before.
>>
>>30406524
Too many times actually, I must remember "bandit" isn't always an accurate description.

Hmm, from this distance I wonder if we see if they decorate themselves with the whole blood, skulls, and spikes deal.

>>30406647

>>
>>30406662
I'm guessing there's a reason against contacting the "bandits"
>>
>>30406684

It's because they're "bandits" and we have a lot of specialized, valuable equipment out in the open.
I'd most like to get in contact with the survivors, then the tribals, then the bandits. That's also in descending order of them being able to murder us...I think.
