The black-steel airship, launched at flank speed, screams and smashes through Tianna's outer layer of city walls.

The tall fortifications, built from ancient, solid grey marble, shatter like a pane of glass being headbutted by a buck ogre.
The noise produced is also rather similar.

You pick yourself up from the dust of your city's streets, still reeling from the shock.
The blast, at least at this distance, knocked everyone backwards several meters. Into walls, through windows, onto the lowest branches of the trees lining the streets in some cases. No one else is in the condition to stand back up right now. Just you.

The metallic airship's prow slashes through the walls and into Main Street, parting buildings like waves.

You glance up at the immense size of the damn thing. It's at least ten stories tall, and you have no idea how long. The top deck is lined with animated skeletons, clad in polished steel armor, odd-looking metallic backpacks, and red-and-black cloaks, looking down on you. Their shields bear the device of an elaborate gearwheel, silver on black.

Well, at least it's not skulls. As far as deathlords go, this is pretty original.

"PEOPLE OF TIANNA!"

You're shaken out of your train of thought by the voice echoing from the ship. You can't spot its source exactly. It's a female voice, strong and assertive. Arrogant, but beautiful.

"REJOYCE! For starting today, you belong to the Tyrant of the Doomsday Machine! Submit, and no harm will come to you!"

"Uh. Er. Fleurdelis? We... we just wrecked their city." A second voice, masculine, and sounding a bit confused, replies.

"No FURTHER harm will come to you!" The first voice corrects itself. "Still got to do some show of strength, or no one will take our liege seriously."

It's amazing how well you can hear their exchange above the din of the crumbling city, since the skyship didn't bother being slowed down much by the fact that it's plowing through the city walls and the Riverside Quarter.

In fact, it's not slowing down at all. It's cutting through Main Street, heading straight in your direction.

You know you're supposed to be terrified. But for some reason, all you feel within you right now is...

"...You can do this."

You clench your teeth, plant your feet, raise your arms. You can hear the panic and fear of the meople massed around and behind you, still shocked, still in the direct path of the incoming mass of black steel.

The airship rams into you with the force of a collapsing mountain. The shock drives your feet into the ground up to the knee.

You feel the airship's frame and your own bones creaking in unison. It's only after it has pushed you back almost ten meters, digging a small trench into Main Street with your own two legs, that its momentum begins to die down.

With a scream of tortured metal, the flying ship slowly stops in its tracks, coming to rest in the middle of the Seaside Quarter of Tianna like a vast beached whale.

You tentatively lift your hands from the hull. The imprint of your palms and fingers has left a very deep dent on its surface.

The noise dies down. Crumbling buildings around you give their last agonizing cries, but then, silence falls on your city.

The rest of the world seems to slow down around you, bathed in a warm, golden glow. You keep staring at the two imprints on the hull, trying to wrap your head around the fact that you somehow managed to do THAT.

What left that imprint?

"...What happened?" the male voice from the ship wonders, breaking the unnatural silence.

You hear some shuffling around, and the first line of skeletons is pushed aside. A head pops up, peeking beyond the edge of the airship, down to you.

Pale, white skin. Blonde, nearly colorless long hair. A black rose in a headband. An elegant black and white dress. Pretty like a doll, and about twice as creepy.

She frowns deeply upon seeing you, and a strange glow flares up in her eyes.

"...A Solar happened."

Several of the skeletons around her peer beyond the railing, wielding large horn longbows.

"...Shit." The male voice replies. "Tyrant's not gonna like this. What do we do?"

"We remove her, and then get back on our busy city-conquering schedule." She says, like it was obvious.

She's an Abyssal. An Abyssal Exalted. A demigod of mayhem and destruction. You heard stories of lone Abyssals slaughtering entire armies single-handedly.
And she's looking down on you right now.

Not with an air of superiority. Not like a bug to be squashed. But with a worried, concerned expression.

Staring back in her eyes, you see from where that light comes. It's reflected from you.

You look back down, at the bent metal of the airship.
It's not quite polished to a mirror, but you can vaguely see your own reflection. You are surrounded by a golden aura, and a symbol glows on your forehead, exceedingly bright.

What symbol is it?

> A sunburst with eight rays?
> A solid golden circle?
> A circle, the upper half full, the lower half empty?
> A thin, hollow circle?
> Two concentric circles, the outer hollow, the inner solid?

When you realize you should be looking up instead of staring at your own reflection in the doom ship of death, the arrows have already been loosed.

They scream as they cut through the air and impact in the ground all around you. You dodge and weave in a panic, trying to avoid them.

Until one manages to connect, striking you square in the chest. It shatters in a shower of steel and wooden splinters, flying through the air around you.

Well, so much for avoiding them. It... it still hurt like hell, but you're pretty sure you should have been skewered from side to side.

No time to worry about that now.

As the last arrow stabs the ground, a moment of silence falls on Main Street again.

"...Did you really think it would work?" The make voice asks, halfway incredulous. You can hear him walking closer to the ship's ledge.

"...Just keeping her busy." Is her reply. "I'll leave you in charge here, Phoenix. SKELETONS! GO!" She then orders, with an imperious gesture towards the city centre, where the royal palace stands. Not exactly a stone's throw away, but maybe two or three.

And with a roaring noise, the skeletons take off from the deck on their firedust jetpacks, leaving thick, greasy smoke trails through the sky. They begin to land here and there, hissing and surrounding the bunched-up citizens of Tianna that took shelter behind you.

Following the large team that took off towards the royal palace, the Abyssal evidently called Feurdelis leaps out of the ship, onto a nearby roof, and keeps up her momentum from rooftop to rooftop.

...What do you do?

Acting on instinct, you grab a nearby chunk of wall and lob it at the approaching skeletons.
You hadn't considered the wall's structural integrity, but in the end, that went to your benefit. The bit of archtecture breaks apart in mid-air, turning into a shotgun-blast of high-speed bricks impacting against the small formation of rocket-propelled skeletons.

Skulls are smashed, bones broken, and a few bricks hitting their jetpacks in the wrong way (or perhaps the right way after all) ends up in a large explosion of fire and smoke, scattering bits of animated skeletons of a large area.

The cowering citizens are shocked and scared, but mostly unharmed, and relieved in seeing that you're definitely on THEIR side. And also by the fact that most of the undead horrors seem to have other aims for the moment. They fly overhead, and accelerate towards the royal palace of Tianna.

No time to intercept them anymore. A black and red shape falls from the airship, landing barely a meter or two away. It unfurls before your eyes, emerging from a vast, flowing cape held together by black armored plates.

About a head taller than you, this man is made even more impressive by his armored shoulderpads and large cloak, concealing most of his body under a thick curtain. His eyes are yellow and feline, and you can't help but be drawn to them hypnotically. A silver helmet covers his forehead, desperately struggling to keep his bunchy, spiky hair in place.

He takes a couple steps towards you, invading your personal space with a dry smile on his lips. The people around you draw back, terrified: as he walks and his curtain cloak parts, you can see a large blood-red orb-like gem set in his armor's chestplate. It glows and swirls like a living thing, and pulses like a heart.

"...I'm really sorry for my associate's actions. I was opposed to this kind of..." He looks at the mayhem and destruction all around. "...Well, yes. Can we talk about it? I don't want to cause even more damage."

You slowly lower your guard and take a cautious step backwards, but decide to try and talk this over like reasonable adults.
"...You're evidently here to take over Tianna." You say, still trying to keep on top of things.
"Well, yes, but-" Phoenix starts, but you interrupt him.
"Yes. If you don't want a fight on your hands, leave. Right now."

You have no idea where this sort of confidence comes from, but you're thankful that you can actually talk with the Abyssal monster in front of you instead of curling up in fetal position and wait to die.

He seems to actually consider your proposition. "...Sorry. I have a master, and her orders are absolute for me." He says after a brief pause. "And she wants Tianna added to her conquests. We can argue on how that happens. I'd love it to happen as easily and bloodlessly as possible, for example. We can work on that. But..." He looks towards the royal palace, where the oily smoke of the jetpacks is slowly fading away, scattered by the wind.

He leaves the sentence hanging, waiting for your reply.

They can have Tianna if we are allowed to evacuate the people. Unprepared or not, we're going to have to fight the Abyssals if they insist on massacring everyone while this guy acts like he would prefer a "bloodless" conquest.

Besides, conquering Tianna obeys the letter of the order, while evacuating the citizens lets us save the people from what appears to be certain death.

If he shoots it down, we just have to go in guns blazing and save who we can before we have to bail out (hopefully we can bail out).

You turn to the castle.
A powerful blast shakes one of its towers, which then loudly crumbles and falls to the ground.
You turn back to him.

"...But I'm not responsible for what she does while you spend your time with me, of course." Phoenix now has a bottle of champagne in hand, a skeleton holding two flute glasses to him. "Speaking of which, I'd really love to get to know you better. Maybe over dinner?"

As you run towards the castle in the (not so) distance, you stop now and then to motion to citizens and what little city guard you can find around to follow you.

Tianna's guards are scattered and without leadership right now. Everything was too sudden, and in any case they are definitely not trained or equipped to deal with the Exalted: they wear long leather jackets with blue and green cloth stripes, light steel helmets, and a mix of well-crafted weapons. Suited for fighting crime and policing a city.
But this? This is insane.

As the chaos and confusion settles down and the people following you begin to question what is exactly happening around them, a few of them look at you in amazement.

"...You are...!"

What do they say?

"...her majesty the queen?!"
"...the royal princess?!"
"...an Officer of the Guard?!"
"...a member of the Guard?!"
"...from one of the Noble Families?!"
"...from one of the Merchant Families?!"

Also nobility is tied to a specific place which limits the ability to go out and get stuff done (without neglecting the home front), but that's possible to deal with.

>>30372327
True. A number of those Greek heroes founded city-states AFTER doing the crazy awesome shit they're famous for. Odysseus was king of Ithaca to begin with, from what I remember, but most of those others weren't kings yet.

"...An outsider? And an Anathema, exactly like those wrecking our city? Why should we trust you?!"

You're about to give a rather stern reply to the soldier voicing his doubts, but you have to admit: he kind of has a point, doesn't he?

You briefly consider replying to him that, even if exiled and disenfranchised, you are still royalty, but then you hit a conceptual brick wall:

"...Anathema?" You reply, confused.

Everyone around stares at you like you're out of your goddamn gourd.

...Actually, makes sense. That explains the superstrength and the surviving an arrow to the chest and the lightshow hanging around you.

No time to act absolutely terrified now.

"...don't you think that it would make more sense to consider me "one of the ones that are trying to SAVE your city"? As opposed to THEM?" you point out, quickly recovering your lost charisma. The palace you're pointing at is shaken by another explosion.

The soldier seems to struggle with the concept for a moment, but then nods in agreement.

"Can you stop them?" Another man asks, thick mustache and a baker's white apron wandering in your view as they emerge from the crowd around you. Many others echo his question.

You know what the best reply is.

"WE can."

There are about 50 people around you, man and women from all walks of life. Less than a third seem to be militiamen, armed with a mix of weapons and clad in light leather armor and a simple steel helmet. The others quickly gather what they can, as far as improvised weapons go. Being in a urban area, the stereotypical scythes and pitchforks aren't as common, unfortunately.

Of course, the militia seems to hold you in high regard. Either that or they're absolutely terrified of you. The glow and castemark probably have something to do with it.

What will you requisition from the militiamen as your main weapon?

The decision to not even pick up a weapon certainly does its part in making the people following you even more impressed.

Which is good, because it's time to move. "Follow me." You simply say, beginning a sprint towards the now-smoking castle.

Tianna is a large city-state, and its castle is proportionate in size. Large, beautiful gardens. A tranquil pond. Tall, grey stone walls. Powerful fortified towers all but unconquerable by even the most determined mortal enemy.

Of course, it seems that Feurdelis basically powerwalked through them with little effort, judging by the large hole you can spot on said walls.

A scant handful of militiaman are scattered about on the green grass of the garden. A few are bruised and knocked out. Another handful are shocked out of their wits, hugging their knees and crying. only one is dead, apparently hurled against the walls so hard that he exploded leaving only a large, unsightly red smear. Seems like one casualty is all it took for the militia's morale to break, and you can see that even the resolve of those that are following you wavers.

You can't really blame them. That's some nasty shit.

Still, it does seem like these Abyssals are trying to keep casualties low for some reason. You don't know much other than legends and word-of-mouth about them, bit this certainly seems to contrast with what you assumed their modus operandi was.

As you're about to lead your men through the breach, you notice that a contingent of about a dozen jetpack skeletons lurks in the castle's courtyard, just beyond the opening. Armed to the teeth and expecting you.

>Order the charge?
>Lead the charge?
>Order your men to stand back, charge them alone?

...no, we're definitely Zenith. We got the caste mark and everything. The QM is using some version of the Exalted Quickstart or Qwixalted. It condenses all the abilities into five Caste scores. So, we have points added to Night, Dawn, and, when we chose our caste, Zenith.

Regardless, we should scream at these mooks and, I don't know, be surprised or something when they turn to ash.

As you walk closer, you slowly realize that, rather than being mad or angry, you mostly feel sorry for these skeletal undead horrors.

Despite he great care that obviously went in their manufacture, and maybe even something akin to a very twisted form of love, they're still nothing more than empty shells filled with necromancy and orders to obey. Whatever soul inhabited them has long, long left.

They follow you with their empty eye sockets, expressionless and vacant Pale mockeries of life.

You feel a shiver rushing down your spine, and what happens next is all driven by some deep instinct you never know you had, or perhaps just acquired.

"You can release them."

You breathe in, close your eyes, and gently touch one of the skeletons on the forehead with your index finger.

With a soft *pop* *pop* *pop* noise, the bones come loose all at once, as the energy keeping them together is unraveled. In a matter of seconds, all that's left before you are twelve neat little piles of white, bleached bones.
A second later, they combust in a flash of pale white ghostfire, and are gone in the blink of an eye.
A chorus of impressed "ooooh"s from behind you breaks the pathos of the moment, followed by someone quickly calling dibs on the swords or the longbows that these skeletons carried.

You're not too sure of what you just did, but you certainly improved the morale of your impromptu band of followers.

Now the passage is free. Confidently, you walk into the dark, smoke-filled castle. That Abyssal, Feurdelis, is in there somewhere, doing... something. You're sure it's something bad.
And once this thing is over you'll have to sort out exactly what happened to you with all this Anathema business. But, right now, you're really happy that you have something else to keep your mind off that.

[Ability gained: Zenith Caste Power "Banish the Darkness" (spend 1 Essence, destroy all undead extras in scene)]
[1 Essence spent. Current Essence: 3/5]

Alright. This is a first time for me, and all experimental, so thank you for your patience.
Some basic things you should be informed of:

1) This quest will update a bit slower than people are probably used to. I'll mostly run it when I'm not at my home computer for some time, and while doing so I might be also busy with other stuff. Also English is not my native language. All this will conspire towards slow updates.

2) Nothing about the PC (name, gender, caste, appearance, stats, etc) is predetermined from the start, other than the fact that he/she is a solar and a citizen of a large city-state called Tianna, which is in an uspecified location of the Exalted setting. Details have been, are, and will be filled by you as we go on.

3) This game runs with an extremely streamlined version of the Exalted system. You just have "Physical", "Mental", "Social", and "Dawn", "Zenith", "Twilight", "Night" and "Eclipse" scores. 5 HP, 5 Essence. You can spend Essence to do really outrageous stuff, or I'll spend it for you if you try to do something that would require it. Sometimes, usually when learning/acquiring a power, you will spend one point reflexively for your first use of said power.

3.5) Actions during this intro phase will increase your scores until you've gained a total of 5 points in Phys/Men/Soc and a total of 7 points in Dawn/Zenith/Twilight/Night/Eclipse. All of these start at 1, by the way.

4) When you ask for an action, roll 1d10. Action resolution is stat+skill+1d10 vs. a difficulty I'll set. I'll also pick the roll randomly with my own randomizers, among the rolls of all the people that supported an action.

5) I will change, ignore, alter, misrepresent, bend, break and rape the Exalted setting to suit the game. Stuff will be different from the books, so knowledge of the book's settings will only be of metagame use for you up to a certain point. New players don't need to know Exalted, and veterans will still see new stuff and be surprised.

Questions?

any chance of us picking up Sidereal Martial Arts in this Quest? They're a fun time
>>
>>30373945
What are our stats and known charms thus far? How much do we have left before character creation is over? Are scores still 1-5?
>>
>>30373745
the generally accepted problem with the dawn caste is overspecialisation. they are great at all forms of fighting, but any given character doesn't really need to be great at all forms of fighting, just one. for instance, if we're planning on being a great martial artist then it's irrelevant to us that dawns also make great archers and swordsmen, we don't need those abilities. so most of the caste is wasted on us, and we don't have the ability to do much aside from punch people.

we can still be a badass as a zenith, but we'll have other options too.

Other little details:

Will continue in approx. 14 hours. with Session 2

I can't draw, so no custom art. I'm really sorry for this, because I really believe that quests should have at least some custom art.

Sometimes I'll even post with no images if I don't have anything appropriate and can't find anything that fits, rather than delaying a post even more. Again, that feels cheap, I know.

Up to now, the images I posted are either portraits for the NPCs or good approximations thereof. Of course text description takes precedence over the image if they clash, but that shouldn't be a big issue.

We're not going to use charms or many Exalted mechanics you might be familiar with. Essence is a generic action booster (like excellencies and simpler charms), and then there are Powers (which you can call Charms I guess, gonna use a more neutral term out-of-game to be more newbie-friendly) which are either "always active" or "spend 1 Essence, stuff happens".

Where relevant: I am definitely both pro-waifu and pro-harem. Also, in (my) Exalted everyone is bisexual. I don't really have interest in ERP, but sexytimes can happen, and will be fade to black if they happen.

Also: I like my Exalted magitech-heavy, and I will call it Magitech both IC and OOC.

I would really prefer if you call them Charms, just because, you know, Exalted. I'm definitely going to be calling them that, at any rate. Anyway, consider checking out Qwixalted. They have charms as keywords that can augment Abilities by spending Essence. For example, you could spend 2 essence to activate both Overwhelming (an excellency, basically) and Holy (unsoakable damage to CoD) if you know them for Performance in order to do a bunch of damage to every CoD in range.

Here, take a look.

Canonically, you have to master a Celestial style before you can even start on a Sidereal style anyway, and you have to be, like, a goddamn century old before you're powerful enough to pick up said style. Also, the QM doesn't seem to be going NEARLY that in-depth into charms, so it's a moot point regardless.

>>
>>30374660

"Combat styles" will be a thing. By picking unarmed now, you're progressing along that path, and if you stick to unarmed you will eventually develop unarmed Powers. If you switch weapons often you will develop more generic combat Powers that work with all weapons.

Martial art styles are single powers (essentially like Form charms) that require someone training you. If no one trains you, you develop your "natural" style (Solar Hero) instead.

You will gain those charms, during the chargen period (this first few introductory sessions), if these kind of things keep happening. Keep doing impressive feats of strength and you'll gain strength powers, keep putting yourself in harm's way and you'll gain resistance powers.

Once the chargen period is over, there will be character progression, but it will be slow, and more traditional. Not actual character points, but you will be informed when you gained a stat or skill point and asked where to put it. for powers, you will be informed of the gain and will be presented with a list of powers from which to choose.

I was planning on having you start as a heroic mortal and exalting near the end of the first session, with the splat being determined by your actions throughout. Anything from Lunar to Infernal to 'oh god, you guys did exactly zero heroic things... uh, shit, you're Sidereal!' would have been options. But, without being able to call it Exalted Quest - and with this one being currently active - it just wouldn't be right.

I'll run a Princes of the Earth Quest someday maybe. For now, though... Well, I should have acted while I still had a chance. C'est la vie.

(Especially WWF-style wrestling)
>>
>>30374830
Alright, well, since we still have four powers open, I'll be pushing for the following. I'll let the other players toss in some input on whether they want the same:
>Indestructibility; not true indestructibility, but having a body like armor, so mooks don't stand a chance of cutting us, and we can fight unarmored. Plus, it's in-caste for us.
>Crazy strength. Stopping massive things unarmed, lifting entire walls to throw, maybe even super-jumps? Crazy strength is sweet, and is literally the entire reason we exalted.
>Leadership abilities. A combination of Performance, Bureaucracy, and War, being able to rally folks and get people to quickly subordinate themselves to us and get buffs to their general effectiveness at most things in return. That's how we instantly got fifty dudes following us, after all.
>Solar Hero. Punching, wrestling, throwing dudes. It's not flashy, and it's more boxing/kickboxing/wrestling than kung fu, but it's fucking sweet, and goes well with the indestructibility.

With all that, we can be a fantastic queen/general/whatever who, when the cards come down, is indestructible even in her night gown, can hammer-toss an elephant, and is just as deadly naked and unarmed as someone fully kitted-out.

I just thought that was a funny statement. Definite thumbs up material, imo.

Anyhow, aren't Sidereals pretty much predicted from birth in most cases? I need to reread their rulebook.

Infernals are premised on being failed Solars, IE someone who had a chance to seize glory but backed down, chickened out, or otherwise failed to overcome themselves. I could see that happening in a first session.

I don't remember Abyssals well enough, but isn't Abyssal Exaltation like an opt-in? You get an offer and you take it because "reasons"?

The Sidereal exaltation and Fate itself know in advance, but the Sidereal bureaus have a harder time predicting it. Between only having so many man hours to scour the Loom and Fate becoming a little fuzzier everytime something Outside Fate goes on a rampage or fuck-fest in Creation, they often have a hard time locating the new Sidereals in advance.

But yeah, it's fairly easy to just go, 'Uh, you were fated to be Sidereal, I guess!'

Both Infernals and Abyssals are opt-out-able. Infernals have to chicken out of a badass or fuck up beyond all belief but survive anyway, and they're offered a second chance by a representative of the Yozi. Abyssals have to attempt something Solar-tier, fail to exalt, and die in the process. They're offered exaltation at the instant where they're hovering between life and death.

Yeah, so are Southerners. Easterners, on the other hand, are fairly universally not-blonde, while Southerners can be.

One of the pissant citystates out in the Scavenger Lands.
>>
>>30375769
If you're going East at least go far East where the setting becomes crazy bullshit.

Otherwise do South like people have been suggesting.
>>
>>30375895
Actually, I'm one of the people suggesting our protagonist be a Southerner. She's a foreigner; we can do both.

Qwixalted Quest.
>>
>>30376003
Eh. I really feel like having two different Exalted quests running at once is even worse than having multiple Magical Girl quests running at once. Massive oversaturation.
>>
>>30376241
You'd need to have the setting and feel be very different. Sidereal doing internal affairs and detective stories in Yu-Shan, a game set in Autochthonia, an Infernal quest set almost entirely in Malfeas...
>>
>>30376266
But to reliably do that, I would have to give players less freedom than I had wanted. I wanted to start as a heroic mortal and go from there. What's done is done; maybe I'll do Princes of the Earth Quest someday, but for now, it's going back on the backburner.
>>
>>30376698
Fair enough. Not starting with an intended premise and feel in mind in favour of giving players maximum freedom is an entirely valid way to run a quest.
>>
After looking over Quixalted, I'm never playing regular Exalted again.
>>
Anyone gonna archive this?
>>
>>30377649
I'm still trying to figure out how to properly handle Internals. I'm going with new Abilities based on each Yozi's purview and adding a few charm keywords, but NOBODY in the Exalted Generals have been giving me even a trace of input, critical or otherwise.
>>
>>30377955
Well, as a Solaralike you would only have to come up with one keyword, since their first one should be Overwhelming. The Abilities would be cut and paste from the splat.
Maybe something that messes with success? Triples on a 6?
>>
>>30377955
Oh, and for point of reference, the Abilities I have so far are:
Slayer
>Tyranny
>Destruction
>Pain
>Glory

Malefactor
>Desolation
>Faith
>Law
>Providing

Defiler
>Hierarchy
>Knowledge
>Shaping
>Analysis

Scourge
>Speed
>Silence
>Murder
>Detachment

Fiend
>Trickery
>Corruption
>Darkness
>Freedom

Now, first of all, all of them are missing at least one Ability. Second, at least half of them could use better names. Third, some of them, like Darkness and Desolation, are esoteric enough to be hard to picture using in mundane ways. Fourth, some of them, like Tyranny/Glory, Destruction/Pain, and Desolation/Providing seem to overlap way too much, so I really need a way of fixing that too.

For charms, what I have so far are:
>Training
Some kind of training effect that lets someone instantly gain traits in exchange for possibly being pounded into XP debt. I have no clue how to limit the amount of points provided or the range of Abilities that can be improved in a balanced way.
>Lingering
For things like bleeding attacks, blighting an entire landscape, and other such shit that Infernals are supposed to be able to do. By default, the effect would recur at the one die level one turn after the first action, modified with Paced and Overwhelming and such. Not sure how to balance this one either.
>Sorcerous
Lets you do a non-standard thing with an ability, for things like Mind-Hand Manipulation. Balanced by 1e required just for mundane uses before other charms.

Help?

The problem with that is that Infernals are SUPER DIFFERENT. Their excellencies are tagged off of Yozi themes, Malfeas is the one with the soak and health levels, SWLIHN has telekinesis, the biggest and best charm tree in Cecelyne is all about granting wishes, and blighting an entire landscape with persistent nuclear fire is, you know, a cheap thing for Infernals. Just having them be green Solars is really inappropriate, as far as executing them is concerned.

There's the archive page.

What do you Soak with? Glory?
I'd say Pain overlaps more with Murder and Destruction overlaps with Desolation.
At least when I think of applying them to a victim. Pain/Murder applies Goremaul directly to forehead, Destruction/Desolation knocks over his house, burns his fields, and salts his earth.
>>
>>30378884
Pain is a massive Malfeas theme, and it would be the Soak stat. One of Malfeas's big thing is that he's in constant pain, that he's scarred and always hurting himself more to get stronger. Desolation is about places of desolation, which are huge for Cecelyne. Empty deserts, barren fields, and so forth, whereas Malfeas is way into destruction - tearing down old things, demolishing buildings, killing people, burning objects. They have some amount of distinction, and are both ridiculously central to the Yozis in question.

Glory would be something of a Performance/Presence stat, and Tyranny some form of Presence/Bureaucracy. There's a lot of overlap between those two, which I find very problematic.

Murder doesn't really overlap with Pain because Adorjan's thing is about killing suddenly and without warning - about instant, silent, and indiscriminate murder. Malfeas is more into pain, sadism, and cruelty.

Make sense?

Is Knowledge distinct enough from Analysis to warrant being a separate ability?
>>
>>30379011
Analysis is a hybrid of elements of Investigation and Awareness, while Knowledge is a hybrid of things ranging from Occult to Lore to Linguistics. I would say it's distinct enough, but that's a great example of needing better names for these Abilities that still evoke what the Yozis in question are all about.
>>
>>30378980
You know what? The overlap is good. Slight redundancy balances out the occasional increase in efficiency when purchasing charms, so you can keep it at 4 skills per ability without needing to screw with charm price. Come up with one charm keyword and it should be cut/print.
>>
>>30379236
Well, Training and Lingering are going to be generic keywords. The special Infernal keyword is Sorcerous. If I'm going to have less than five Abilities per Yozi, though, I would sort of like to narrow it down into a trinity of concepts for each Yozi. Do you know what I mean?
>>
>>30376266
You have no idea how badly I want to play in a Dark Heresy meets Yu-Shan/Sidereal game.
