Today is the same as yesterday. Tomorrow will be just like today. The insanity seems to follow you wherever you go. In the chapel of Mary Magdalene's school for upcoming young ladies, you stand face to face with Diablos, terrorist at large and superhuman madman...woman. Diablos looks quite a bit different from the last time you saw...her, appearing as a woman in a business jacket and high heels. Nevermind that, though, Diablos has thrown down the gauntlet so to speak, covering herself in a sleek, blood red armor. It's smaller and slighter than your previous encounter. Is Diablos changing tactics?

She raises a gnarled claw and smiles at you, bearing long fangs dripping with blood.

"You were pretty strong for a newborn, but I'm not taking chances today. Lets see how well your instincts serve you against this!"

Diablos explodes into a shower of blood, coating the room in her fluid. Each puddle of red, however, slowly collects itself and forms into an exact duplicate of Diablos, which rush you each in turn. You're knocked back by a blow to the face, grabbed from behind and slammed into the floor, and impaled by barbed tails before you even know what is happening. You can't tell which one is the real Diablos. They're all attacking so wildly and so differently, you can't even begin to think up a countermeasure. You brace yourself, manifesting your own talons and baring your teeth at your attacker.

"So, how do you like it," the doubles all shout in unison, "This is one of my special skills: Hundred Demons! Can you see through it?"

If there's no way to know what's coming, the only thing you can do is...

>Strike
>Crash
>Guard

[Special Note: Enemy Skills.

You are not the only Overed with special powers. Sometimes, your enemies will use special applications of Renegade abilities to break the normal rules of the game. You will have to deduct how the power works in order to create a solution. Don't be afraid; go with your instincts!]

F-F-F-FINISH HIM Her?
>>
Okay, so all the duplicates makes it seem like a guard tactic, but it simultaneously puts up a consistent offense, making for a strike, these in combination counter strike and crash... so guard? I don't know if that is how we're supposed to go about dealing with special moves though.
>>
>>30313007
I THINK we use Strike here?
Shit.
Let's ask Dio if he's a girl or just a crossdressing boy.
>>
>>30313160
Wait, maybe the special skill is making it impossible to read the move?

We should use dominate howl because that defeats two differentmoves
>>
>>30313007
You might want to explain the Strike/Crash/Guard system before asking for a vote, DXR.
Can we use our shouty thing?
>>
Fuck it, I'll repost it here:

>Strike: Strikes are fast, precision based attacks. Any attack which seems like it may rely on overwhelming speed or pinpoint accuracy is likely a Strike. As a general rule of thumb, most mundane gunfire is considered a Strike. Strikes defeat Crashes, but are defeated by Guards.

>Crash: A Crash is a highly telegraphed, but extremely powerful blow. Any attack which seems to rely mostly on the brute strength or overwhelming force is likely a Crash. As a general rule of thumb, most thrown objects, like trees or boulders, are considered Crashes. Crashes defeat Guards, but are defeated by Strikes.

>Guard: A Guard is a defensive posture or evasive stance which is used to set up a counter-blow. Any attack which appears as if it could be a feint or which seems to be a stalling tactic is likely to be a Guard. Guards defeat Strikes, but are defeated by Crashes.

It's almost certainly a Guard, which means we should Crash.
>>
>>30313007
Can I get an reminder on our special?
>>
>>30313194
It's a special move, which I assume means it works like ours and is a combo, which makes me think it's a guard/strike.
>>
>Crash
>>
>>30313220
So we Guard and take the draw?
>>
>>30313189
You can use your Domination Howl if you want to.

>>30313194
Yeah, I need to add that to the document.

>>30313210
Domination Howl

With a cry, you trigger a primal fear in every living being. You are the apex predator and they are your prey. Declare this Ability when selecting a Guard. Your Guard can defeat both Strikes and Crashes. This Renegade Ability can only be used once per scenario.
>>
>>30313220
If it's a guard/strike, then we should guard correct? As guard beats strike and ties with the other guard while a strike or crash would lose.

>Guard
>>
>>30313237
That was what I figured, but I don't know if I have properly figured out what his move is doing.
>>
pls guard
>>
>>30313266
that's gotta be the trick. the moves look the same, but the clones are confusing us. we use domination howl to be perfectly safe
>>
>>30313266
Doesn't really seem like it has a crash aspect to it as it's not particularly telegraphed because there are so many of them nor is it a single overwhelming force, it's just a bunch of hits.
>>
>>30313007
Guard.
>>
>>30313286
I'd rather save it if possible since we only get one use for this entire act...
>>
>>30313309
we need to go up our social links to get more
>>
Alright, I think that's everyone. I'll count and move along.
>>
>>30313286
If Hundred Demons has a strike part to it, I think Domination Howl would lose. Like we try roaring and one of the clones punches us in the throat or something.

>>30313319
I think the social links are for combo attacks like using illusions to escape with Claire. Claire is currently elsewhere distracted again by a blood clone so social links won't help.
I think we can learn more abilities ourselves by training and whatnot.
>>
>>30313372
Er wait, I meant if Hundred Demons had a guard part than the howl would lose.
>>
>>30313372
>If Hundred Demons has a strike part to it, I think Domination Howl would lose.
Just clearing this up. Domination Howl beats both Strikes and Crashes, and ties with Guards.

>I think we can learn more abilities ourselves by training and whatnot.
You get buddy specials from having a buddy with you. Forming a deeper bond lets you both learn new powers.
>>
>>30313372
>If Hundred Demons has a strike part to it, I think Domination Howl would lose. Like we try roaring and one of the clones punches us in the throat or something.
Howl specifically beats Strikes and Crashes.

>>30313403
And I assume it ties guards since it is itself a guard.
>>
>>30313425
>Forming a deeper bond lets you both learn new powers.
Well that's useful to know.
>>
Sorry about this hold up, have a lot to cover, just about ready
>>
>Guard Failed!
Hundred Demons distracts opponents, masking the true nature of the attack by having doubles of Diablos use every tactic while the true Diablos waits for an weakness to exploit. The suggestions to use Strike were correct, as Diablos was secretly readying a Crash. The suggestions to use Domination Howl would have also been a wise course of action, covering the most ground on the defense.

The moment you try to defend yourself, it's too late. From within the crowd of copies, what you can only assume to be the true Diablos bursts forward one of her claws having tripled in size before you noticed. She slashes downward, raking across your crossed arms, tearing our flesh and sinew. Your blood sprays from you like a fountain, and you momentarily feel light-headed. Did she actually manage to hit so many arteries at once? Even your healing factor has trouble replenishing blood this quickly, and you drop to your knees, overcome by dizziness.

Diablos strides forward, letting her massive claw wick down to a smaller size. The armor retracts slightly from her face and she leans in.

"How is it, kid? You figure out that you're in over your head yet?"

She lifts you up off the ground and throws you back into the main chapel. Instinctively, you release your Warding, not only to hide yourself from any possible witnesses, but as a signal to your watchdog to get back over here. You tumble through the pews, the wood snapping and giving way to your speed until you finally skid to a halt. What skin remains on your back is full of splinters and shredded by the hard stone floor. You stand up, trying to force your healing factor to catch up to your wounds before Diablos can have her way with you again. You see the demonic Overed leap onto the altar, crushing the marble beneath her clawed feet. Her eyes lock on to you and her talon begins to distend once more.

Damn, you don't think you'll be able to stand in time.

"Hold, foul demon!"
>>
>>30313983

There is the peel of thunder and the roar of flame. You flinch from the light and sound, shutting your eyes for a moment. When you reopen them, you see two figures standing in front of you. That long blond hair and outrageous outfit can only be...

"How dare you show yourself in these hallowed halls! Though I have fallen from Heaven, I shall not permit such blasphemy! You face Fallen Angel!"

Fallen Angel strikes a ridiculous pose, leaning back and pointing her finger at Diablos. After a few moments, she whispers to her companion, who suddenly jerks to attention. You turn your own attention to her and see another familiar face. You'd recognize that oversized coat and meek disposition anywhere. Kadokawa strikes a similar position to Angel, turning beat red.

"A-and me! Rightous...devil..."

She couldn't really belt that out, could she...?

Diablos doesn't seem to pay them any attention as she jumps from the altar. Black, feathered wings sprout from her back and she begins a spinning dive towards you. Forget introductions, it's time to move!

[New Partner Abilities:

Retribution Slash: Fallen Angel avenges you after you've been struck with a high intensity laser, wreathed in flame. Declare after a failed exchange. Whether your next exchange is successful or not, you deal one point of damage to your opponent.

High Voltage Wire: Rin (Righteous Devil?) fills the area with electrically charged, hair-thin wires. Declare when using a Strike. These nearly invisible, shocking strands hinder enemy movement and prevent them from using high speed tactics during the next exchange, sealing the enemy's Strike.]

Claire doesn't do a very good job at guarding when actual danger comes around. At least she has the annoyance part down pat.
>>
>>30314004
"I won't allow it!"

Fallen Angel steps in front of you, putting a hand to her hip as she continues to strike heroic(?) poses, despite the situation. She holds her hand out in the air, and a beam of light shoots forth, perpendicular to the ground. Grabbing this shaft of light, Fallen Angel readies it like a weapon. Wings of fire erupt from her back and she leaps into the air; each flap of her burning wings produces an explosion that drives her higher and faster. Her shining blade gains a fiery corona as she meets Diablos head on, bringing the burning blade down on the demon's head.

Caught off guard by the intrusion, Diablos is thrown to the ground, the armor on her head sliced clean through. The smell of burnt flesh fills your nose as the bloody shell melts away under the intense heat. But...this is your chance isn't it? You surge forward from your position on the ground, darting through the rubble and lashing out with your claws. Again and again, you carve away goblets of Diablos's surprisingly soft flesh, her blood armor still struggling to reform after being burned away. Diablos cries out, calling her doubls back to her to create a wall of claws and fists, each threatening to tear you apart before you know what happens.

But...

A shot rings out before they can get close. Kadokawa, or is it Righteous Devil now, holds a fistful of rounds, tossing them into the air behind you to thin the crowd. The rounds seem to curve around you as you resume your hunt. The doubles are torn apart by the hail of gunfire as you draw close, but the moment the last clone falls, you see Diablos ready for you.

Her arm has become a cone of spinning bone in place of a claw, and her reckless charge has already begun. The bone drill is just centimeters away from your face before you realize it!

>Double Strike
>Cross-Counter!

There's nothing to do but just take it on the chin!

You brace yourself for the pain and thrust your claw into Diablos's chest. Your foe gasps, convulsing around your wrist as you continue to shove your claw through the meat and bone. Not ready to give up, Diablos slams the drill into the side of your face. The bone dril noticeably slows when it hits your brain case, struggling to get full a full revolution as it digs in deeper and deeper into your skull. You're not sure if you can survive with your brain drilled to bits, but you don't want to find out. You step up your pace. If you can just find her heart. If you can just destroy her heart one more time!

You feel a throbbing under your hand and you know you've found it. A look of utter despair crosses Diablos's face as you wrap your fingers around the delicate organ and begin to squeeze down. Immediately, the drill's revolutions stop, and the demon's pupils shrink to tiny dots. Her breath becomes ragged, and you swear you can almost feel her innards attempt to shift around and expel you from her chest. But it's too late for Diablos. You crush her heart in your fist before pulling your arm completely free of her torso. Once more, Diablos seems to halt. Her blood clones all collapse into puddles of red slop, and her own form begins to melt away in front of you.

"Damn, kid. What the hell..."

That's all Diablos manages to spit out before her body's structure finally gives way. Her blood splashes into the floor, the droplets flying into the air before becoming a swarm of buzzing flies. They filter up into the ducts of the school before you can begin to give chase. It looks like Diablos got away again.

Now that you've finished with that, isn't there something you need to do?

Guys he already wrote "writing".
>>
>>30315064
Claire. The last time you lost track of her, she got attacked. You're not really cozy with her, but if something bad were to happen to her, who knows what they'd stick you with?

"Ho ho! Do not fear Cerberus, your lover is--"

You shoot Fallen Angel a look, and she immediately shuts looks down at her feet, having suddenly found the floor to be very interesting.

"Um...s-sir? Wild Card, sir? Speeding Bullets is the one who called us...sir. She was engaged with the enemy at the confessional...that's all, sir. Sorry for not telling you!"

Rin holds her hands together and bows her head apologetically. That's not necessary. It's not like she ways hiding it or anything. You take your leave and head back down to the confessional. Not three steps away from your carnage and you already spell gunpowder. You quicken your steps, readying yourself for any more combat you may face. The booth you left behind is broken and shell casings are scattered all over the floor. You step over the remains of the confessional to see Claire. She's still standing at least, with her signature pistol at her hip. That nun's habit she stole is torn to pieces and you see many deep cuts covering her body. Her breathing seems shallow and you can practically hear her heart beating from here. She turns to you, and it's then you notice the body. Claire has the body by the hair and is dragging it across the floor as the UGN agent turns to you. It's a young girl, practically naked save for a few tatters, with wounds that are stitching themselves shut at an incredible speed.

"Ah, Captain. I have successfully captured Diablos. It may be presumptuous of me to ask, but, is this not praiseworthy?"
>>
>>30315576

What? But you just fought Diablos. You lean in and take a look. This...does look a lot like the woman you just fought. If she was ten years younger, maybe. You think for a second that it might be a blood double, but you've seen those too many times to be truly fooled anymore. This is the real thing. Just how in the world...?

You're taken back to reality by the feeling of Claire's eyes resting upon you. Her expectant gaze makes you feel uncomfortable keeping silent...

You sigh. What is she, a dog? You figure if she's going to act like one, you might as well treat her like one. You refuse to look at her when you do this, you absolutely utterly refuse, but...you suppose she did earn it.

You reach out and put a hand to the top of her head, giving it a quick ruffle and a few pats.

There. Is she satisfied now? You sneak a look out of the corner of your eye.

Claire has her gaze cast downward, and there is a little bit of extra color in her cheeks that you're pretty sure didn't come from the blood she's spilled. You take your hand away, afraid of any possible consequences of continued petting.

"Thank you very much, Captain. I'll cherish this first time you touched me gently."

Claire then takes 'Diablos and begins to bind her, using scraps of cloth and transmuting them into steel cables, handcuffs, heavy chains, ropes, and padlocks. You don't think that it will hold a raging chimera, but you're pretty sure that it will at least buy some time if Diablos wakes up early. Finished, Claire sets about to repairing your clothes, and then her own, finally getting out of that costume.

You suppose the only thing left for you to do is to wait for the Chief to show up.

--
>>
>>30316191

"Huh!? Are you a fool!? You left Bullets and gave chase to Diablos on your own!?"

The Chief is still pretty upset. Her fangs are bared and her temper is hot. While her servants continue to clean up the chapel, you find yourself sitting in a corner being lectured to.

"Of all the prideful, vain, stupid things for you to do. You are lucky that Righteous Devil and Fallen Angel came to rescue you! I cannot believe I tried to recruit such a foolish, pig headed man like yourself!"

The Chief turns away and crosses her arms, deciding that she's done with you for the moment. Claire leans over and whispers in your ear.

"Do not mind the Chief, Captain. This is just her own way of being gentle. I am sure she is impressed by your bravery."

Huh. You think you could do without her gentleness.

"I see. Nevertheles, we still have more work to do. What would you like to do next?"

"I understand. I'll contact Instructor Luna right away."

Claire gets up and takes out her phone while Chief gets back in your face. Apparently, she's not quite done with letting you have a piece of her mind.

--

"Yeah, yeah, I got your papers, boy."

Lunatic High throws a single sheet of paper at you. What's this? Didn't you give her an entire ream of this stuff?

"Boy, that code was almost entirely nothing but garbage just meant to throw you off. That right there is the message. Why do you think I didn't wanna do it?"

Maybe because she's a lazy, indolent drunk who keeps putting strange ideas into Claire's head?

"Speaking of putting stuff into Bullets...she seems higher than a kite, boy. Did you finally show her a good time."

If she's speaking about what you think she is, of course you didn't. You ignore Lunatic's prodding and sit down to read the paper.

7:00 Archery meet.
10:30 Track meet.
14:00 Soccer Match
20:00 Finale

This reminds you of...

"Yeah, these are a selection of the events going down at the meet. There's nothing else special going on at those times either, so I can only guess that this is a plan for their attacks. Now that we have their timetable down, you shouldn't have to go do any more tracking."

Well, that's good news. You give the paper back to Lunatic and tell her to bring it to the Chief. This should wrap up most of your involvement with this problem. The Chief and the UGN should be able to tighten security enough on their own to keep anything from happening.

"Right, boy. Say, why don't you use your next day for yourself? Maybe go have some fun with a girl?"

You think you'll pass on that.

You decide you just can't ignore it, you need to go look for yourself one last time. You already tipped the UGN off about the traps you heard about, and got word back that it had been taken care of, but still. This just seems too easy, doesn't it? Just letting someone else take care of it?

So here you find yourself, again, at the athletic fields. You don't know what you're going to find, you've already combed through this area three times on your own and only found the traces of traps already disarmed by the UGN. Your senses aren't picking up anything new, and without any new information, you've not got any reason to keep looking. You stare down at the fields and wonder if you're just taking this all too seriously. After all, wasn't finishing this work what you wanted? It's not like you liked having to stick around Claire and these other weirdos and risk your life every day.

You sigh and pull out your phone, looking through the contacts. You suppose you'll try giving it a once over with someone else, maybe they'll see something you missed.

You decide to give Rin a call. After all, she already set up one trap, maybe she can help you find others.

--

After several hours of searching, you end up finding nothing new. Well, you did find that the blacktop has been completely repaved and that the track used to have dirty bombs underneath it, but otherwise, everything has been found. More frustrated than tired, you end up sitting down on the grass. After a few minutes, Rin, looking immensely distraught, offers you what looks to be a can of coffee.

"I...I'm so sorry, sir! So sorry!"

No, it's really alri-

"I wasted your time! You should have called Fallen Angel or the Chief..."

No, like you said, you didn't really expect to-

"I always mess it up..." To your utter disbelief, Rin begins to sob. "This is why Bro decided to volunteer for overseas...he couldn't stand to be around me."

You suddenly feel very awkward. If her brother left because he couldn't stand being around her complete lack of self-esteem, you understand. Rin begins to wipe her tears off her face, along with huge globs of snot. Her runny nose and tears end up getting smeared all over that can of coffee.

"E-Even after I decided to change myself... Fallen Angel was going to show me how to be dependable, you know...?"

Really? She thinks that Fallen Angel gives good advice?

"You know...I didn't wanna be a soldier...When I was young, I wanted to...no, no, I'm just blabbing."

She shoves the snotty, warm can into your hands and gets up. She begins to say goodbye, but she ends up biting her tongue. Before you can say anything, she runs off into the night, sniffling the whole way. You look down at the sticky can in your hands and sigh.

...And you thought she was the normal one.

Tired, and feeling unproductive, you head to bed. This entire ordeal has worn you out, and you'll be happy to have the day off before the meet. You don't even bother getting undressed as you fall on your mattress. Sleep overtakes you after just a few minutes of curling up, and you begin to dream.

>>
>>30318895
Your dreams were pleasant and don't remind you in any way of your childhood, which is nice. You wake up gently for once and roll out of bed. It almost feels strange not having Claire force herself on you first thing in the morning, but you'll take whatever small miracles you can get. You get dressed and head downstairs. There's no classes today, so you're utterly free to do whatever you want.

The smell of cooked food lets you know that you're not alone, as usual, and you head into your kitchen to eat. You would be more bothered, but having to use your powers again has left you so famished that you can't think quite straight. Claire greets you as you come into the kitchen and puts a plate of golden brown, buttery biscuits and a plate of ham on the table. Still wearing her apron, she looks at you expectedly, but doesn't say anything.

You take this as your cue to begin eating, and you do so with gusto. As always, Claire's cooking is infuriatingly good. The biscuits are fluffy, but with a hint of moistness from the butter. As if she can sense what you want, she slides a jar of jam over to you and you begin to slather your food in it. Finished with the biscuits for a moment, you turn your attention to the meat and greedily bite into it. It's too good. It's really not fair that this good food comes attached to such a troublesome girl.

Speaking of that girl, she hasn't been too talkative or pushy this morning. Though you hesitate to question it, it still strikes you as odd.

"...I am still quite satisfied from yesterday, Captain. While I can always go for 'seconds', I am completely sated at the moment."

Well, that's...good, right? Right.

Still you have an open day today, maybe you could try to amuse yourself for a change instead of working?

Lately, you've been feeling the urge to go back out to the arcade. Now's as good of a time as any to go have some fun. Claire takes off her apron and sets it aside, following you out the door without a word about your destination. You get the feeling that this might be a good day.

--

After a few hours of Magical Fairy Bullet Hell, you start to realize that Claire's been watching you more intensely than usual. While she hasn't touched or propasitioned you once, you feel like nothing you do even escapes her notice for a moment. It's making you feel awkward and you're not sure where to go from here. You turn around to see her leaning over the counter, simply staring at you.

Now you know what's up.

You didn't notice it before because you were just so happy with the silence, but the desire you feel from her is palpable. You almost feel naked, and immediately get up to go move to another game. Road Brawler. That'll be fun. Yeah, how about you forget about Claire raping you with her eyes and just go play Road Brawler?

You select your normal character, Gaile, and get down to work. It's all in the timing, you know. Quarter circle back, strong jab forward. Hold down, then up. You've got this, no problem-

"HERE COMES A NEW FIGHTER!"

What?

You peer over the arcade booth to see Claire on the opposite side. Did...did she actually challenge you?

"I hope you don't mind, Captain. I wished to become invested in your interests and create memories with you. I'm new at this game so please don't be too disappointed by my performance."

You're not sure how comfortable you feel about this, but what's done is done. If it's just playing a video game, it should be fine. It's not like she can molest you through the screen. Anyway, since it's her first time, you should...

This. Just because she's being more silent doesn't mean she's no longer an insane sex offender rapist.
>>
>>30320267
Claire doesn't condone rape. Love is important for any relationship.
>>
>>30320453
And the "love-pet" incident?
>>
>>30319867
You tell Claire to brace herself, because you're not going to hold back just because she's inexperienced. First to win ten matches is the victor.

"Of course. I don't want you to hold back just because it is my first time. Please, break me in."

...You decide to just get the match started.

--

Eighteen matches later, she's already caught up to you. You just can't believe this. It's nine wins to nine wins, and Claire is already showing you techniques that took you years of practice to master. While she's been a terrific sport about all of this, you can't help but feel your pride has been somewhat wounded. You're having to bring out every single dirty trick and strategy you know just to break even with her, and in this last match, she's already got the advantage.

"I'm having a lot of fun, Captain. I wonder what I will choose for your penalty when I take this last win?"

Wait? Penalty?

"Yes, is that not customary, Captain? I think I may have you pet me just a bit more. Perhaps some place other than my head."

You can't lose this game. There's no way you can let yourself lose here, but...damn it, Claire's just too good. Every single attack you throw gets countered, every special move gets parried. It's almost like she designed this game instead of just finding out about it. You need to be faster! If you were just a little faster, you could get past her defense.

Your hands become a blur across the buttons and stick. You feel the gamebooth begin to buckle under the weight of your button presses. The screen begins to lag, your inputs are going in faster than the game allows. And then, you hit it. Just for a moment, you almost feel like you can see what Claire is going to do next. Your hands relax, and your frantic movements become more smooth.

Explain the tied up crying girl not two days past.
>>
>>30320480
That's right. She's going to throw a low punch. Then a fierce kick. All you need to do is parry once then jump.

It was so simple. Why didn't you see it before?

And then it's gone. In that moment, you follow through with your vision and swiftly end the match.

You won. But just barely.

"Splendid, Captain. Simply splendid," Claire gives you a little applause. It's a little lame when only one person is clapping, "Your instincts for battle are truly impressive. Even in the world of games, you leave me absolutely breathless."

If she's breathless, then she should shut up. Even so, her remark about instincts catches your attention. Is that what that foresight was? You feel like maybe you could get a better hang of it if you practiced with Claire more...but not today. You've already had enough.

"What shall you have of me? The penalty is all yours to decide, Captain. Ah. Except alone time. I'm sorry, but my duty to UGN prevents me from leaving you for long."

Although she doesn't make any overt displays, you can sense what she really meant from that. You're not eager to exploit her, but a favor from Claire might prove useful. Maybe you should ask for...

Aww, shorter probation time just seems mean, since it just comes off as 'I want to get away from you' when she is actually being her most tolerable, and I doubt she can get us anymore without reason.

How about more time off this probation period? You're not sure how much Claire can do on her own, but surely there's some way she could contribute to that?

"I understand, Captain."

That's it? You imagined there'd be a bigger resistance to it than that. Claire does seem to be rather attached to you and--

"It's no problem at all, Captain," Claire shakes her head and stands up, "I have already been filing all the time we spend together outside of class as Volunteer Hours. While these hours do not correlate directly to a shortened probation period, you will be considered first for any reduction in time."

She's already been doing that this whole time? Why didn't she tell you.

"It was obvious you do not enjoy UGN duties. I decided that I should help speed you through the process. As you requested, I will begin reporting even more hours as Volunteer Hours."

Won't she get in trouble for false reports? You're not sure about how strict the UGN is with their agents and all of this. It won't affect you either way, but you'd rather not be strapped with any guilt.

"Do not worry about this matter, Captain. I will handle all of this. You can simply concentrate on living your life."

Well, you suppose that's that. You leave the arcade and stretch, meeting the noonday sun. You've still got the rest of the day ahead of you, no reason to turn in early.

You decide you should go pay the Chief a visit. You want to know how the situation with Diablos is going; the fact that the Chief always serves you a delicious cake or scone with tea has nothing to do with your current desire to see her. None whatsoever.

"A fine idea, Captain. The Chief has been meaning to chat with you as well."

--

The Chief does not look like she has been meaning to talk to you. She glares at you over her tea cup, cooly observing you without saying a word. Dead Maid, the strange ghost you recruited from Yamada Prep, pours you a cup of tea and serves you a slice of what looks like yellow cake. She also seems to be put a little on edge by the Chief's disposition. Eventually, the young lady sets down her cup and gives you a look of utter disgust.

"Well? What do you have to say for yourself? Are you sorry you attacked a known terrorist by yourself yesterday? Are you sorry you sent this entire branch into fits because you've been playing around, getting into fights for no reason? Have you reconsidered my most gracious offer? It doesn't get offered to just anyone, if you must know."

You shake your head. You're here for the tea and cake. And Diablos. Right, mostly Diablos.

"...Fine then."

The Chief swivels her chair, far too large for herself, and turns on monitor. You see Diablos weighed down by many different cables. Every now and again, she pulls against her bindings and activates the many shock collars placed all over her body. After a few moments of being cooked alive, she stops resisting and goes back to silently seething.

"Diablos remembers nothing. Even after Shining Void did a full interrogation on her, Diablos claims she has no idea about anything regarding the Renegade. Obviously all lies. Lies from murdering kidnapper," The Chief clenches her teeth.

"So, did you want to speak to the beast yourself? Or is this just a personal visit?"

The Chief nods to you and begins to lead you to the detention blocks. You travel down flight after flight of stairs, with each level being sectioned off by what appears to be a steel bulkhead. After ten such floors, you finally reach the area where Diablos is currently being kept. The girl is suspended by the cables in every direction. It's only now that you notice that she can't actually relax in any way without the bindings shocking her. In her mouth is a bar of solid metal, and you can see her fangs digging into it as you approach. She snarls, and her eyes become slitted, taking on a crimson color.

The Chief opens the final door, letting you into a small area next to her cell. While you're still separated, you can speak to her here if you need to. You hear a buzzing sound, and the bit is let out of Diablos's mouth. She spits, then glares at you. She sniffs the air idly then tenses up.

"You...you smell like that bitch. Is she your woman or something? Who are you?"

You really don't want to waste time on introductions. She should already know you, since you've beaten Diablos twice.

"Sure, I'm Diablos, but I don't remember losing to a lame-ass like you."

Looks like the Chief wasn't making it up. Diablos recognized you on sight last time. It seems that the Diablos you drove off and the Diablos that Claire brought in might be different.

"Impossible," the Chief interrupts your thought, "This is Diablos, without a doubt. Not only does she match our syndrome profile, there is another indicator."
>>
>>30321611

The Chief snaps her fingers causing the cables to draw tight. On the side of Diablos's neck, you see two dark marks.

"Five years ago, I fought Diablos myself. I bit the monster on the neck with everything I had in that fight and left a sample of my own blood to rest within him. That mark," The Chief lifts up a hand and you can see the skin on Diablos's neck move, "...still has my blood in it. There is no way it is not the very same Diablos."

"I don't remember ever tangling with you, lady. You're crazy!"

"Then what were you doing here?"

"I...I don't know."

The cables draw slack and the Chief walks away in disgust.

"You see, you will get nothing useful from this monster. It's best to leave it alone for now. We'll deal with it again after this business with the meet is finished."

You get up and leave the room with the Chief. You're not sure to make of this "Diablos", but you know she won't be causing any trouble here.
