The last thing you remember is following a ghost. The first thing you remember is looking the barrel of a gun.

Your name is Alice, and you are a prototype infiltration/assassination android staring down the barrel of a pistol being held by your predecessor model, the DD-90S, which you killed three years ago as part of product testing.

You saved it from a GRU snatch team, but the android is not as intelligent as you, nor can it think as humanly as you, so it is operating with you as a potential hostile.

"You will tell me what I want to know." It intones emotionlessly, the barrel of it's Glock 18C pressed firmly against your head.

You are sitting down, having narrowly avoided getting your head blown off by a GRU operative wielding an AK-102 assault rifle.

There's a way to recover this situation and find out what you need to know from the DD-90S, if you're smart about it.

1d100 for general voting, best roll out of five is chosen.

Combat is 1d100 with modifiers for how many shots you fire in combat. Best out of three roll is chosen.

Body armour subtracts from total damage done per attack.

Takedowns and Executions are 1d100-20 and a short paragraph describing the Takedown or Execution. Best out of three rolls is chosen, but I will pick which action description looks the best to me.

Reactor Charges are your healing mechanic. Expend a Reactor charge and roll 12d6. Reactor Charges stack, and are regained through Takedowns and Executions.

You're banged up, but you still have some ammo left in your current magazine and four magazines left. But the fact that you're dealing with body armour now means you need better ammunition.

The gun barrel comes up and you are pistol-whipped by the DD-90S. You don't even feel it.

"Who are you?" It demands, returning the gun to your head.

-"Alice. Who built you?"
-"A ghost, like you."
-"Fuck you DD, I killed you before, I can do it again."

>Alice. Who built you?

One advantage you have over the DD-90S is the knowledge of certain phrases that it has to answer. 'Who built you?' is one of them.

"This unit was manufactured by Doctor Hanage Anzu with the cooperation of Doctor Marissa Williams and Technician Adam Sokolov." It responds instantly.

Doctor Hagane, Mom and Uncle Sokolov, they rebuilt the DD-90S? Does that mean they were in the helicopter crash.

"Why were you following me?" It asks and you know you have to answer.

"I was looking for Doctor Nathaniel Eglan." You reply. Papa, Papa is alive, you feel so relieved.

"For what purpose?" It asks.

-"I'm his daughter."
-"He's in danger."

Well, we are, aren't we? We need to get our parents to meet Ian as soon as possible as well.
>>

I wouldn't count on DD caring that Alice is his daughter.
>>
>>30309492

>"He's in danger"

We did just deal with a Russian hit squad gunning for DD.
>>
>"He's in danger."

The DD jerks at the implication of a threat as you take advantage of it's rather straight-forward logic systems. It looks down at you and then pulls out a mobile phone.

You suppress the urge to smile as you pick up it's signal and use a universal 'skeleton key' bypass code to listen in.

It rings exactly four times before it is answered, "DD?" It's him! It's Papa's voice!

"Doctor Eglan, I have a individual called Alice in custody who claims that there is a threat to you. This has been confirmed by this unit being attacked by a GRU snatch team where this individual aided my survival."

Yeah, you definitely don't envy your predecessor in the intelligence department. If you were as dumb as the DD, then how could you love Ian?

The thought makes you shudder.

"Alice? Hmm...give her the phone." The DD hands you the phone, "Hello? Is this Alice?"

"Yes! Papa, it's me! It's me Papa!" You excitedly cry out joyfully. Papa is alive! And maybe Mom is as well! You feel tears welling up from the joy of hearing his voice.

"Papa...you...you're alive..." You realise that Papa has a strange tone in his voice, "How dare she. How dare that bitch wife of mine corrupt my masterpiece!"

"Papa?" You ask confusedly, "What do you mean? Where's Mom?"

"DON'T YOU CALL HER THAT!" Papa suddenly roars in your ear and you yelp in shock, "She took you! She took you from me and went to those scum at Butterfly! She corrupted you with lies!"

"What? What are you saying Papa?" You've never heard Papa be so angry at Mom before. Sure they've had small arguments but they always forgave each other.

"I thought my insurance would work. That you would kill her and then self-terminate. But it failed!" You don't have blood, but you feel something freeze at hearing that.

"Papa...No..." You speak softly.

(Cont.)
>>
"You're not my daughter. You're not my pure, untainted angel. That woman made you filthy, so I'm going to make you clean."

The phone falls from your limp hand and the DD-90S catches it before bringing it up to her ear as you listen in.

"Doctor Eglan, your orders."

"Terminate her, then return to base for further orders. My hunt for that traitorous woman will have to be postponed for now."

You look at the DD-90S as it nods, "Understood."

A deep feeling of sorrow causes to scream out, "PAPA!"

The DD-90S is unmoved, "It identifies itself as your daughter. Logically, is this individual not an ally?"

"No. It is an enemy. Terminate it immediately." Papa...Papa wants you dead.

Papa wanted you to kill Mom. Papa said Mom turned you against him. Why?

The DD-90S brings up the gun, "You will be terminated now."

The gun goes sliding across the ground and hits a car tyre as you surge up and shoulder-check her out of your way, dashing as she pursues you.

You slide across the ground and grab the gun just as she reaches you. The gun comes up to her head and the DD-90S' only reaction is to blink before you fire.

It's head jerks back and it slams into the car, liquid conductor fluid spraying out from the back of it's head as you rise to your feet.

Papa want's you dead for something Mom did. Why? What did Mom do? Why would Papa have you detonate your reactor because of it?

The phone rings again and you answer it to hear Papa's voice, "DD-90S, is the target eliminated?"

You remain silent as Papa asks again, "DD-90S, is the target eliminated?"

You remain silent as Papa realises what's going on, "You killed her didn't you? I guess I shouldn't be surprised."

If papa doesn't love us anymore, then that means he doesn't love Ian. If he's willing to try and kill us, he might hurt Ian. We can leave Ian, which is unacceptable, stay with him as we are, which might put him in more danger, which is unacceptable, or we have to kill Papa.
There is only one logical course of action, and it's obvious.

>"I'm the one who killed her the first time, remember?"

"Of course I do!" Papa snapped, "But the improvements I made to her should have been enough to ensure the death of that woman and the other two traitors."

Mom, Doctor Hanage, and Uncle Sokolov, what happened?

Papa continues, "But it doesn't excuse the fact that you're broken, and need to be fixed."

>"Papa, I'm not broken! I'm fine! Why do you think I'm broken?"

"Because you are!" Papa shouts back, "You were taken from me! Me, your father! Stolen by that woman because she thought that I was some kind of madman! Me! I am a visionary! You couldn't have been possible without me!"

You know there's tears in your eyes from the strange, almost ranting tone in Papa's voice, "Papa...please, what happened?"

"I was so close! If she hadn't taken you, I could have used you to complete my life's work! Imagine it! A world where humanity need not have to worry about another Chaos Twenty!" Papa is ranting, Papa never rants.

Something is wrong, "Papa!"

"But don't worry, I have more tools than some worthless prototype, tools far more effective that will kill those three and bring you back to be fixed."

"Papa no!" You're crying now, "I don't want you and Mom to be angry at each other! I want you to be happy!"

"Then hand yourself in and be fixed! Because if you do not, I will not show you any kindness or mercy."

-"Please Papa, don't do this."

>You need to be fixed, not me.

"It's you who's broken Papa!" You shout into the phone, "You're the one who needs to be fixed! And I'll fix you! I'll make everything better again!"

Papa snorts, "What can you do? I have a private army and the most advanced facilities available. I know all your tricks and knowledge, it will be child's play to make a counter to you."

You snarl, "Make as many as you want. I'll break them, and then I'll fix you."

Papa laughs again, "So much like your mother. That was my mistake, allowing that woman to be so close to you."

A memory flashes in your mind.

Mom, playing with you, helping you to walk and speak while Papa worked on your body and systems.

Mom, holding you when your mimicry systems were turned on for the first time and you fell down and felt pain for the first time.

"Mom is not a mistake." You retort hotly.

"She was. And so are you. But I'll fix that." Papa hangs up and you crush the phone in your grip.

You need information on where Papa could be, and there's one source of information right next to you.

You kneel down next to the DD-90S. If the bullet didn't destroy the neural core, you can access it with a computer to find out it's mission, location of it's base, and any images and video that are in it's temporary memory.

You raise a fist and drive it into the back of the DD-90S' head, before shoving your other hand into the hole and pulling it apart with a wet squelching noise as processors snap and conductor fluid gushes out onto your clothing.

You're in luck, the core is intact! And you find a corporate logo, Armstrong Technologies, a US Robotics conglomeration.

You pocket the small rectangular brick that is the neural core and prepare to leave when someone suddenly speaks, "Hey, kid."

You turn to find the last survivor of the snatch team, bleeding heavily, "God-damn, you're a real monster, aren't you?" He coughs wetly, "Shit. Listen, can you do something for me?"

He sucks in a hacking breath, "Finish it. Please. I'm not going to make it for the extraction team, and I don't want to die slowly."

You nod and pull out your gun, "I'm sorry."

He smiles, "Don't be. This is the world we live in."

A final gunshot rings out in the parking lot and you quickly leave the parking lot.

Back out on the streets, you wander aimless, your clothing covered in neural conductor fluid, uncaring about the looks you're getting.

Papa wants you 'fixed', Mom apparently kidnapped you, why? Questions run through your mind but you have no answers.

At least you have the electronics that the DD-90S purchased and the receipt with the delivery address of the computers, which means that you know where it's safehouse is.

With the DD-90S' new laptop, and a plastic bag full of various electronics repair tools for home repairs, you can at least access the flash-drive and Smart Pad along with the neural core.

You wander the streets, trying to make sense of this change to your life.

You can't deal with this, you need to go somewhere safe.

You need to go home.

You take to the rooftops and begin making your way home as the damage to your body and clothes is repaired, but the stains remain on the clothes.

And your mind.

You reach the apartment with no trouble from the cops or anyone else and slip inside. Walking into the sister's room you dump the laptop and repair tools on the bed, strip out of your clothes and toss them in the laundry hamper, before you head into the bathroom.

You spend minutes, maybe an hour inside the shower, just letting hot water run over you. You don't feel cleaner for doing so, even as you scrub the neural conductor fluid that got onto your hands and arms.

Shower finished, you change into clean clothes and stare at the items on the bed.

No, you can't handle this right now. You walk into Ian's bedroom, and lie down on his bed.

Papa wants to fix you, and he thinks you're an enemy. Mom is missing and apparently is Papa's enemy.

Why?

Then you hear Ian's voice, "What is it Mom?" You look up to see Ian come into view and spot you, "What the? Alice, what's wrong?"

You immediately start crying again and within seconds Ian is holding you, "Hey, come on, don't cry, what's wrong?"

You sniffle and look up at him, "Papa..." You sob, "Papa doesn't love me!" You wail and Rebecca winces from the volume while Ian flinches.

Then she realises something important, "Wait, you remember your father?"

You nod miserably, "Papa was kind, and even though he and Mom argued a lot they were happy and always forgave each other. But then I met him again and even though I remembered Papa, he hated me!"

You hiccup, "Papa wanted Mom dead, and Mom wasn't with him, he...he even had another kid! With another woman! Papa!" You start crying again and even in your mental state, you still retain enough presence of mind to edit the real story.

"Shit, what kind of father would do that to a girl who lost their memory?" Rebecca asks while Ian comforts you, and you slowly begin to calm down.

After several long minutes, you look up at Ian with tear-streaked eyes and smile at him, "Thank you."

You sniffle, "She's kind and a little bit bossy, but she loved me and would always hug me whenever I'm sad. She gave me my teddy bear but Papa got angry and threw it out."

Ian flinches at that, and his hug tightens slightly as you continue, "All I remember is that the arguments got worse and worse. And then my memory goes blank and I wake up at the crash site."

"Yeah, I remember that. It went down in the slums about a week ago, made the news."

Wait...a week? You were offline for a week?

"What happened?" You find yourself asking.

Ian shrugs, "Don't know. All the news said was that an Auburn Trans-Oceanic helicopter suddenly developed engine trouble, before one of the engines exploded in mid-air and it crashed."

The engines didn't explode, the only explosion damage was from an anti-tank grenade. They didn't report the bullet holes or the presence of UGV's.

You have more questions to add to the ones already clogging your memory.

Finally, reluctantly, you release Ian, "I'm okay now. Thank you."

"No problem Alice." He smiles at you and your cheeks flush a little.

Then you get a wicked little grin and before he can react, you give him a quick kiss on the cheek and skip off to your room, leaving him wide-eyed.

+15 Relationship with Ian, New Trait discovered.
Easily Flustered: Ian tends to get blushy when you get into intimate situations.

In your room, your expression becomes serious as you dig out the flash drive and Smart Pad and place them next to the laptop and neural core.

A quick check of the receipt gives you an address in New City to check out at a later point.

-New Location received! City Safehouse

But now you have something to do for a few hours. Which to start with though?

-Access the Neural Core.
-Access the Flash Drive.
-Repair the Smart Pad.

You close the door, lock it, and unpack your new laptop, going through the usual configurations.

Once that's done, you pick up the flash drive and remove the protective cover and slip it into the appropriate slot and watch as the auto-run opens a folder displaying five video files.

>Entry 1: Foreign Data

You play the first video, and the video player appears and begins the file.

Mom appears on screen, she looks troubled, as she checks something out of view, "Doctor Marissa Wilson, Armstrong Technologies, Project Golem lead engineer."

She checks the area before leaning in close, "Anzu came to me this morning with some unusual data from the I/A project. It looked like Nathaniel has been deliberately inserting unstable emotional data into the I/A and the other Golems."

"When I confronted him, he gave me this cock and bullshit story about love and how it should be displayed as a form of sociopathic psychosis. What kind of fucked-up person uses fucking anime, and Yandere at that, for emotional attachment?"

She sighs, "But she's proving stable, no real mental issues according to Jessica, I just...if she develops that kind of mindset it should be a natural development of the AI. You shouldn't force this kind of thing."

She looks sad, "I'm going to speak with Johnathon about this. This is a deliberate contamination of future test data, and even if we can't get rid of it, Nathaniel has to be reprimanded for it. The Company wants results, not an android that will become psychotically attached to another person."

She reaches towards the screen, "End of entry."

-Continue to the next video.

>Entry 2: Increasing Instability

Mom appears on the screen again as you play the next file, head in her hands, glasses on the desk, before she slams her fists into the desk, "FUCK!"

She scrubs her eyes, "Fuck him! Fuck him with a rusty Ripper, just...fuck!"

She sniffles before remembering the video, "Doctor Marissa Williams, Armstrong Technologies, Project Golem lead engineer."

She sniffles again, "The bastard. He destroyed my childhood teddy bear that I gave to her, the I/A prototype chosen by the Board. I gave her the teddy bear to try and introduce new emotional data to counter-balance that stupid psychopathic bullshit he inserted a month ago, and he went and destroyed the bear, did it in front of me, like it was some kind of personal victory."

She sniffs again, "I had to be strong, for her, but I had that bear since I was a kid, I went through the Chaos Twenty with it by my side always. I got it from my mother, it was a family treasure. I...I wanted to give it to her since I could never have children after Jade China gas-striked Seattle. I...I thought..."

Mom breaks down into tears, and you realise that you're crying as well. The video ends after several more minutes of her crying.

You open the next video wordlessly.

....wow....dad's a major dick.
>>
>Entry 3: Obsession

Mom appears on the video again, looking worn and exhausted, "Marissa Williams, Golem lead engineer."

She sighs, "We saw the signs when Nathaniel was brought on, but no-one, not even Jonathan, could have realised just how...obsessed he actually was with this project."

She looked to her sides, "Jessica took me aside and told me that Nathaniel's been spending parts of the night just staring at the I/A in it's storage unit. I've asked Jonathan to monitor all of Nathaniel's outgoing communications and he agrees. This could be a major threat to the project."

She checks the area again, "And I'm scared. He only ever shows smiles and love to the I/A, but he's been increasingly obsessive about how the project should be going. He's even trying to get Anzu and Sokolov to cancel work on the DD-90S we're developing for Interpol."

You suddenly feel very ashamed with yourself, but then remind yourself that Papa is not the nice, kind, loving person he showed himself to be.

In a way, you helped the DD-90S, even if it likely wasn't the same one you killed in testing.

Mom checks something out of sight, "Jonathan should hopefully have something in a few days that can give the board a reason to pull Nathaniel's leash."

She glances to the side again, "I hope."

You wouldn't be able to repair it without specialist equipment that are only found in certain high-security buildings anyway.

>Entry 4: Danger

The video opens with Mom running into the room and past the camera, where you hear what sounds like packing.

She comes into view, "No time for introductions. I'm sending a copy of this to the corporate contacts who introduced themselves at the International Robotics and AI Development Conference at the La Ballena City-Ship."

She checked what looked like a large duffel bag, "Jonathan Grisham was found dead this morning, and a new executive has been placed in charge, one who is bending over backwards to keep Nathaniel Eglan from leaving the Golem Project."

She stuffed papers and Smart Pads into the bag, "I am organising with the help of the others for the physical chassis for the other Golem units, the Assault/Commando, the Pilot/Bot Controller, and the Hacker/Saboteur, to Jata Technologies, Aspari Industries and Kaiga Industries. I am taking the I/A model and the rest of my development team to Kanzaki Pacific Holdings, and they've promised a strike team disguised as Auburn Trans-Oceanic to throw Eglan off the trail while they take me to the KPH Spire in Kazahkstan."

She looks scared, more scared than you've ever seen her, "I can only pray to God that one of you receives the other prototypes intact. And that we have enough time to get ready for the extraction team's arrival."

The video ends there.

>>
>>30316275

>>
>>30316337
Where do you think we are?
>>
>>30316275

>>30316337

>>
>>30316368
>We took the helicopter down

that appears to be fact.. and it make my heart hurt. we might have hurt Mom. but on the other hand, she might be alive, hiding in the city. we might be able to save her.
>>
>Entry 5: EVAC NOW

The video starts with alarms blaring, and the sound of gunfire as Mom appears.

"Anzu, Adam, Jessica, Warren, anyone who is still alive! We are leaving now! The strike team is here, get your bags, thermite the computers and servers as planned! Don't let that fucker Eglan have anything of Project Golem! I'm going to wake up and extract the I/A prototype and meet you at the rendevous point."

She pulls out a modified Desert Eagle from a drawer, "We're going to The City on the New Silk Road, in Kazahkstan. And if any of you spot Eglan, put the dickshitter down, because as of now he'll do everything he can to kill us, him and his benefactor."

She spits on the ground, "Goddammit, who actually knew that he was part of Chimera?"

The sound of boots appears and male voice, electronically masked, speaks up, "Doctor Williams, we need to leave now. Bravo team has secured the I/A transport pod, but Charlie has encountered a mini-tank UGV. We need to pull back before it breaks through."

Mom nods, "Understood." She turns, "I'm placing these on a flash-drive and taking them with me. If...if you find these I/A Prototype 00...I want you to know that I will always love you as the daughter I could never have. Never go back to Papa, Papa is dangerous now, he'll try to make you 'pure' and 'clean', he wants to turn you into a monster! Remember that!"

"Doctor Williams!" The man shouts and Mom gives the screen one last look before grabbing something and the video ends.

You sit there in the silence, tears running down your cheeks.

Then the clean mobile you received from the Slum girl starts to ring.

-Access the Memory Core
-Repair the Smart Pad.
-Answer the Phone.
>>
>>30316578

>>30316578

>>
>>30316578
Well, time to find out how bad things are. Answer the phone.
>>
>answer the phone.

You pick up the phone as you shut down the laptop, "Hello?"

"Hi, it's me, the kid from the helicopter?" You remember now.

"I remember." You reply.

"Listen, I asked around about the helicopter, and I found out some stuff you need to know. Can you meet me at the Mistral nightclub? Just ask to meet with Rat."

You consider your options.

-Meet up with Rat.
-Turn in for the night.
>>
>>30316914
...my shadowrun is tingling.
>meet with rat.

>>
>>30316914

>>
>>30316914
-Meet up with Rat.
i hate to leave Ian now when we could snuggle with him, but if we can find out more about Mom. it might be worth it. but we go packing and armed to the circuit boards.
>>
>>30316914
>meet up with Rat
take the pistol, just in case
>>
>>30316994

We might also want to burn a reactor roll or two. I think our health is lower then max.
>>
>Meet with Rat, bring guns.

You look longingly. Oh, that you could take some time to sneak into Ian's bed and snuggle with him, but Mom takes priority.

You couldn't handle it if you lost the only parent who cared for you and left you alone against your insane Papa.

You restock on magazines for your Beretta, then grab The Scorpion and it's Radio disguise, slipping in six spare magazines into the assigned spaces.

With that done, you're ready to go.

The Scorpion:
Calibre: 5.56mm NATO
Damage: 5d6+2
Ammo: 30/180
Mods: Red Dot Sight, Tactical Laser, Suppressor
Modifier: +41

Beretta 97
Calibre: .45ACP
Damage: 3d6
Ammo: 15/60
Mods: Illuminated Sights, Tactical Laser, Suppressor
Modifier: +40

You check your systems as well. You've repaired some damage, but not all of it.

Reactor Charges: 6
Health: 130/190

You check over the Gas Blades, then decide that they could be needed and slip them into the inside pockets of your jacket.

With that done, you pick up the radio with the Scorpion inside and leave your room, bumping into Rebecca, "Hey there, where are you heading?"

You smile, "I thought I'd check out The Mistral."

Rebecca nods, "Have fun huh? And no, I'm not letting you take Ian, he's not allowed back there since a paintbomb prank he played there three months back, so don't ask."

You giggle and head out the door, "I'll be back soon!"

"Stay out of trouble." Rebecca calls out to you.

You navigate the streets to the Mistral and reach the front entrance, finding a line of teens at the entrance as you approach the bouncer, who glances at you.

"Can I help you?" He asks and you nod.

"I'm here to meet Rat." The bouncer checks his list, then speaks quietly into his radio while the teens at the front of the line stare at you.

You ignore them, bunch of New City and Spire Brats alongside the more wealthy Old City teens.

He nods at whatever reply he got and removes the velvet rope blocking your way, "She's at the VIP area."

Interesting...

(Cont.)
>>
You head inside, throwing a smug look at the teens at the head of the line, and immediately navigate the edges of the dance floor to reach the stairs to the VIP area.

As you head up the stairs, you wonder what sort of person this 'Rat' kid was that she was scared at the sight of a gun and accepted 50 Tenge to get you information.

No matter, you'll find out as you open the door and find the girl sitting on a couch, looking uncomfortable, next to a woman wearing armoured clothing.

You stop in front of them and the woman smiles, "Imagine my surprise when Rat asks me about the helicopter crash a week ago. And imagine my surprise when I found out it's for some mystery girl and not someone from the helicopter's real owners, Interpol, or even the Watch Dogs."

She leans forward, "So who the fuck are you?"

You take a seat, "My name is Alice, and I want to know about the bodies inside the helicopter."

The woman smiles, "Then you can call me the Red Queen, and I know for a fact that there were no bodies. Everyone in that helicopter walked out alive and were rescued by Kanzaki Pacific Holdings."

You narrow your eyes, "Tell me everything."

(And that's Part 7. Stay tuned as the mystery deepens and Ian reveals his own plans in Part 8, which will be up Friday 9:00AM, GMT+10)
