>Introduction & Summary:

You are Katja Hartkern, a former Disciple of the Kyokugenryuu style of "Full-Conttact" Karate and quite-possibly the unluckiest woman in all of South Town, maybe even on Terra Firma... All of your life you've dealt with impossible odds and extreme predjudice at every turn, from growing up with no real gender identity in The Outback with your Aborgine heritage and Gender getting thrown up in your face back home in Austrailia to the harsh looks an rude remarks that were made when you started living in Japan to attend the classes at the Kyokugen Dojo Branch in Osaka, not to mention the guilt and fear you had about coming out and identifying yourself as true, honest-to-god Woman as you prepared for what had been the biggest challenge of your life:

To enter "The King of Fighters: Infinite Match" with Yuri Sakazaki and her friend King, gunning for nearly $9 Million in cash and the accolade of being part of the first All-Female team to ever win in the long history of the tournament... And, inspite of getting exiled and stripped of your honor of being an official "Disciple" of Kyokugenryuu, the opportunity to help save the Dojo from having to close down by donating some of your winnings, if only to serve as the ULTIMATE "Middle finger" to how they've treated you.

However, the most recent news to shoot across your brow might be the biggest setback in your "Career" as a fighter; Hell, this's probably biggest hurdle you've ever had to face in all of your life as your Ki, your elemental affinity for Electricity & Lightning that had only recently become a known part of your repotoire and was just starting to feel comfortable to use... Is in fact TOO powerful; So powerful that your body can't properly control it and could hurt you or worse after every single attempt to use it.

Hearing from any doctor that you'll have to give up a passion is always hard, but this is something different entirely: For nearly 12 years now, you've excluded practically everything that you had thought to be "Superfluous" in your life (Such as Romance, Going to College or learning a "Real" trade or career) in exchange for achieving levels of physical fitness that would put Olympians to shame and learning a fighting style that no other Woman on earth has gotten as close to mastering as you have...

And to be told that you can't do what is basically the only thing in life that you KNOW how to do well? After surviving enough Assasination Attempts, Police Brutality and Electrocutions to make most Action Film Heroes blanche, not to mention getting evicted from your ransacked old appartment and the exile from the dojo? ASIDE from living through all of the freaky things you've seen around town? Soul-Shattering to the nth degree.

>Updates now Begin

You numbly lay on top of Dr. Lee Pai Long's accupuncture table, flashes of your life flickering in and out of your mind as you're at a loss of what to do, or what to even think about right now. After a few minutes, you feel your body slowly fight back from Lee's pain-killing medicine and focuse on how your life's gone in these last few months to pass the boredom; Everything you've known and loved, everything you've ever worked for in your life... Had been taken away from you in some way, one little thing after another adding up and making you feel like you're god's personal punching bag, the hits still fresh on your mind, body and soul...

You start to idly wonder about how life's been much like a twisted, cruel joke without a punchline lately as your body slowly starts to regain it's form and function, clasping your hands to check to see if they're still there. Seeing that they are, You slowly, very gingerly start to sit upright, your shoulders slouched as you sigh, the cynic in you screaming "SEE?! I TOLD YOU this was going to happen! Everything was going on a little too smoothly, wasn't it? But NOOOO, you just HAD to go in and get this bloody surgery and follow this quack's advice!?!"

You pause at that, wondering "Where did THAT come from?" as you slowly slip on your clothes, checking for your wallet and cellphone before you start to slip on your leathers, dropping your phone out of your pocket as your hands clumsily drop it. Fortunately, you manage to snatch it out of the air, a steely determination rising within you as you put on your boots and grab your gloves and helmet:

"You've come too far to give this all up now", you think as you stand up, your legs a little wobbly and look out at the window, seeing Shen Woo shadow-box without knowing you're watching him. "Look at the world you live in, think of all the crap you've seen... Who's gonna say that there isn't a way to fight this?"
>>
>>30303071

The silence in the room gets broken as you hear a knock on the door, presuming that it's probably Lee as you slip your cellphone into the jeans pocket and zip-up your leathers before walking up to door, thinking over how surreal this all sounds and feels to you as you stand near it (Especially as you had been feeling better than ever yesterday, working out as if nothing had been wrong aside from the pains late in the night), ready to face the day...

===

>A. Accept Dr. Lee Pai Long's medical opinion of your current malady, but ask him if there's any possible way to counteract the effects of the Ki in your body, or even lock out your Ki entirely before you leave?

>B. Disregard his opinion and keep fighting; You've gotten this far on Luck Alone, it seems like, so what's stopping you from pressing it more? Some quack's opinion?

>C. Accept his diagnosis, but get second and third opinions from your friends and do WHATEVER it takes to learn how to control your energy, even if it means you have to fly around the world and seance with the spirits of long-deceased Martial Arts Masters in order try and control your latent Ki... Just call up Robert Garcia first and see if you can use his private jet, or something.

You take a long look around the room, wondering exactly how and why this's happening to you NOW, of all the times and suddenly feel something... "Off" for the briefest moment, noting that the "Muh ren Zhan" training dummy that Lee had hanging up in this particular room is in a slightly different place in the room than you had last remembered it...

Curious, you walk over to the odd-looking contraption and slowly move the springy-looking arms around, hearing the door knock again. "Just a minute!" you yell, then slowly try to move the "Live" dummy as slowly as you can without channeling your energy into your hands, finding it surprsingly easy to do... Then you take a breath and slowly, steadily start to channel your Ki and move it as slowly as you can, only a faint spark of electricity slipping out for the briefest of moments before you stop.

Embolden by this, you head out of the office, Lee's next patient (A little girl with a hairstyle that reminds you of Shermie and dressed in a school uniform you recall seeing all the time in Osaka) waiting with him.

"Listen, I respect your advice and all and I know that you know your stuff when it comes to this..." you pause, choking on your words a little bit before telling him "But I'm not gonna lie down and slip off into the shadows like all of those kids you treated; I'm fightin' this all the way up to the deadline."

"... You know, that's what they all told me too... And the only one was able to truly understand and "Bounce Back", as you called it, lost his nerve to fight and works as a "Cosplay Model", whatever THAT is" Lee tells you, sighing as he adds "And just so you know, nothing's stopping you from entering that tournament or fighting again."

"Sod off" you tell him, holding back a curse word as you storm out of the shop and walking back down the alleyway to your bike... When you hear footsteps running behind you, turning to see Shen Woo tackle and pin you down on the ground.

Take up a life of crime. Or use our lightning anyway. We'll win even if it kills us because we're desperate or something.

The standard's been met via the rolls already given and there ain't no brakes on this crazy train... Also lost internet connection for a little bit; Appologies for the delay.

>>30304001

You brace yourself for Shen to start hammering punches into your face, but he doesn't; He seems more content to try to hold you down and don't struggle underneath his body.

"Err... I know guys like you like it rough, but couldn't you take a girl out for Chinese first?" you quip, hoping to break the ice in the air and soften the glare your staring down.

Shen smiles at you for a second, then says "Don't get cute with me; Why're you breaking into the store?"

"Well... Wait WOT?" you ask, a confused look on your face as your mind starts to unravel, the stinging pain in your cheek snapping you back into focus.

"Didn't you get my text message this morning? Old Man Lee's out of town on a house call and closed up the shop; he won't be back until 5 PM to give you a private session..." Shen tells you, though you scarcely believe him.

"OK... But I wasn't..." you pause, going over every contingency plan to what he had just said to you, not even going after one of them as you yell "Could you just get off me for a minute!? God..."

Shen nods and lets you sit up and frantically look for your cellphone to check your messages... And see that the previously "Unavailable" call on your text message call-log screen reads "Shen @ The Sleeping Dragon".

Your eyes widen as you hurriedly look over the message, seeing that it's exactly as Shen told you... Which is when you start to piece this alltogether in your mind, going back to the little girl with the hair over her eyes as an incredible energy washes over you, bursting from inside of you as you try to contain it, taking a few breaths as you calmy ask Shen "Did you happen to see a little girl walk past you, wearing one of those Sailor Fukus and with her hair over eyes when you spotted me walking out of the shop?"

Shen raises an eyebrow at your question and scratches his head, replying "Maybe... But why?"

Your mind thinks back to last night at the Pao Pao Cafe, trying to picture the waiter that served you and Terry Bogard food last night... And see that you can't, seeing a short woman instead, with blonde hair that looked like a high-quality wig and rocking a set of mamary glands that looked TOO good, like they were actually false and tailored to fit the suit that she wore...

You take a long look at Shen, then queitly explain "Because I think that girl's been playing me and stringing me along like a fiddle for nearly two weeks solid... And just impersonated your boss to try and kill me."

Shen's eyes widen at your explanation, though he doesn't try to refute it or laugh at you as you stand behind your words, not even flinching when he asks "Wanna go beat her ass then?"

"... Hell the FUCK YES!" you yell, a manic grin overwheming your face as you spring up from off the ground, turn around the corner to the left and start running, your eyes pin-pointing a tiny speck ahead of them and seeing that little girl chattering on a cellphone about three blocks ahead of you, her visage shatteringing like glass and revealing that it's Bizuki Iijima dressed in an elaborate, rather gothic-looking black dress...

You don't even stop running while you "Power Up" on the go, the activation feeling GOOD as you close in on Bizuki, who only JUST starts to notice you and looks on in wide-eyed shock as you instantly activate "Shōmei-ō Katja", a large sphere of Electricity enveloping you and catching Bizuki off-guard, knocking her into a stoplight with all of the subtlety of a wrecking ball as you feel like your nerve endings are on fire for a brief Moment, but then the pain sibsides and you lose yourself in the revelry of being caught up in this moment, this mystifying power coursing your veins once again again...

Bizuki slowly gets up from the lamp post and glares at you, the white's of your eyes looking like miniature Plasma Globes as you stare her down and note that the attack you just performed must've done a LOT of damage, as she's visibly trying not to look "Hurt" as she starts to slowly float off the ground a little...

Curiously, you don't even feel it as you use the momentum of your fall to "Ukemi" as well, defending Bizuki's three consecutive spiining backhand fists and knocking her over with a Kohou as she tried to recover from the third hit, feeling your arms ache and wondering if you really blocked the attacks or not as Shen Woo arrives with a punch to Bizuki's back, knocking her over.

You feel your powers start to fade fast and come up with an idea: You zip past Bizuki with the "Raijin Sprint", ending up behind her and then launch a string of lightning fast punches, mimicking the punch combo you had seen that one Motorcycle Mechanic do and might've imagined Shen Woo doing earlier, knocking Bizuki down after six hits and cannoning her into a Taxi cab at the stoplight.

You take a look at her and smile, the effects of the "Shōmei-ō Katja" wearing off without any fuss as Shen lets out a whistle, saying "And THIS's the girl that's been fucking with you for so long? Pathetic."

Younod, then start to run in and try out a quick Ha'oh raijinken as Bizuki started to run, catching and stunning her just as she was beginning to teleport away from you and Shen Woo, dropping down to her knees as tears start to flow down onto her cut and bruised face...

You run towards Bizuki and then tackle her, choking her out and using your supperior strength to lift her up and slam her into the brick wall near the stoplight, holding her there as you yell "What's the matter? Used up all of your strength taking down Blue Mary last night?!"

Bizuki's eyes widen at that as she sputters 'H... H-How did y-you?"

"I didn't; You just told me" you grin, cutting her off as you grab and hold her tight, trying to squeeze the breath out of her with a good hug as Bizuki tries to scream, but wheezes starts a caughing fit instead.

You sweat a little as the strain on your body from doing this is much more difficult than you had expected, but press on and ask "Where's the fight in ya'?!" before slamming her down onto the pavement.

"Fuck..." Shen spits out as Bizuki hocks a blood-covered ball of phlegm at your feet before going into a strange laugh that sounds like "Rakikiki..." to your ears as she teleports above and behind the two of you.

"To HELL WITH YOU!!" She screams, an odd cadence in her voice as her hands and the ground underneath your feet glow an eerie Purple...

You sprint towards Bizuki and jump, trying to hit her floating form with an outstretched Hard Kick, praying that you don't get caught up in her "OMFG IMMA FIRIN' MAH LAZOR" attack...

Unfortunately, you do, as while your foot hiys her and knocks of off-balance, the SDM ("Blood Moon for Hecate") goes off and hits you, though not as hard as you expected as Bizuki couldn't aim the attacks properly and ened up scattering them in all directions.

You fall to the ground with a resounding "Thud!", pulling your head up to try not to crack your skull open as you see Shen Woo batting away whatever of the remaining projectiles head his way with that "Pimp Slap-Counter of his", then rocket forward and smash into Bizuki's falling body with an icredibly brutal-looking punch, his fist almost looking like it were on fire as you hear Bizuki shriek a long ways off from you while you strain to get back up and dust yourself off.

"Here... You need some help?" Shen Woo rhetorically asks as he helps you up, shouldering you for a little bit as you hadn't expected even a fraction of that attack to be as powerful as it had been.

"Yeah... But i'll meet you down there; Go get her for me will ya'?" you ask, leaning up against the indent in the brick wall as Shen nods and you watch him run back down the block to "The Sleeping Dragon" Pharmacy...

You take a breath, then run back down the street over to Shen Woo as fast as you can, though you don't run TOO fast (Just in case you pull something from slipping on a crack in the concrete or something)...

"Not gonna get anything out of her; She's out cold" Shen tells you as you stop in front of him, kneeling down on one knee to check Bizuki's pulse by putting a finger on her neck, noting (With a vague sense of dissapointment) that she's still alive.

"Well shit..." you mutter, then ask him "You mind watching her for a sec'? I've got to make a few phone calls."

"Sure" Shen replies, doing a "Gangsta's Squat" in front of Bizuki as you unzip your leathers and grab your cellphone, calling up the number that Seth gave you and heading over to an alleyway nearby.

"Yes?" you hear him reply on the other end, impatience in his voice already...

"This is... Err, the lady you had talked to today" you reply, not exactly knowing the protocol over this kind of thing.

"Is this a crank? Because if it is we can hack your phone and send a squad down to bust you for dialing a "Do-Not-Call" number" Seth tells you.

"It's Katja Mate; I've found the suspect in the case about Blue Mary."

"... How can you be sure?"

"She confessed to it; Unfortunately, she needs medical attention and she's current unconscious" you reply, worried that he might not believe your explanation.

"Can you give out a suspect ID?"

"Yes... She's Bizuki Iijima; The head secretary to the Pargon Group's CEO" you reply, then ask "Is this line secure?"

"Always" Seth tells you, then adds "If she is who she is, then we'll have to ask you to come in for questioning IMMEDIATELYand get an eye-witness report" Seth explains, adding "An ambulance has beend sent out with an ETA of 11:55 Hours, give-or-take traffic" before hanging up.

"You can head out if you want; I've got guys comming over to collect her that might be lookin' for you" you reply, Shen eyeing you suspiciously.

"Feds? Triads? Or bill collectors?" Shen asks, only half-joking as you shake your head "No" to all three of them.

"Friends of Friends that have a special interest in this girl" you tell him, sitting down next to Bizuki at the bus stop and ading "Thanks for the help by the way."

"No problem; It was a pretty good morning work-out" Shen replies with a smile, stretching his neck out a little before adding "And I'll make sure the boss doesn't know anything about this."

"Thanks" you reply as Shen gets his shirt and walks back down the street, leaving you and Bizuki all alone, waiting for the ambulance to arrive...

You call up King, leaving a voice message and stressed that something REALLY important just came up and that you won't be able to go shopping with her and Mai today, but not to worry as you sit out on the bench, wondering idly if this is STILL another trick, or an illusion that Bizuki's playing on you...

You sigh and take a look at her resting, slumped over in the chair and looking a bit like a gradeschool-age woman from the victorian era sitting in the stop, her face bruised and battered.

You almost feel sorry for and would LOVE to wake her up and ask her "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!", grabbing her up by the lapels and shaking her... But you don't, not knowing what'll happen if you do.

"Bloody 'ell, what's WRONG with me?" you mumble aloud, half-expecting Bizuki to snap to attention and tell you exactly WHY you're as fucked-up as you are, but nothing happens as you hear a siren off in the distance, seeing an ambulance drive up and pull over to the curb, noting that it's not from the Kagura Clinic as guy with spiked Blonde Hair and an Eyepatch gets out and walks over to you.

"You're our Person of Interest, right?" he asks as you watch the medics take Bizuki's body and prop her up on a stretcher.

You nod, follow him to the car (A Rather menacing Audi "Executive Jet" Sedan in Black) and hop into the backseat with him, looking up at Seth in the driver's seat and a tall, Red-Headed woman sitting on the passenger's side.

"How are you holding up?" Seth asks as he starts to pull away from the street and follow the ambulance around four "Car-Lengths" ahead.
>>
>>30315977

"Awright, I guess... I'm a bit banged-up though; Bizuki had assaulted me before I had been able to knock her out" you tell him, leaving Shen Woo out of this for his sake rather than for inflating your ego.

"We had read over some of Mary's case-files in her investigation of The Paragon Group that this girl, Bizuki, has immense psyionic powers... Is this true?" Vanessa asks you, her tone of voice scarcely believing that such abilities could exists (Or rather, wishing that they didn't).

"That's correct" you tell her, then explain what you had felt in the Gas Station and on the Beach when fighting with Mai Shiranui, Shermie, Fiona Graves & Tsuyako Horikawa, airing your convinctions that Bizuki was involved with those two incidents as the car goes quiet, obviously for prosperity's sake (As you're certain that the car's "Bugged" with recording equipment).

"Hmm... It seems to check out" Seth says, breaking the silence before asking you "One last thing before we head into the Green Zone and we REALLY start to ask the hard questions; How much didMary let you in on in regards to her private investigation of The Paragon Group?"

You pause at that, thinking long and hard before truthfully answering "Quite a bit, actually, as I was involved with The Kyokugen Dojo for some time, and it's a theory from her investgation's that the local government's tryingto force the Dojo to sell that land that it's currenty on to make way for a new highway that's being consctructed..."
>>
>>30316390

"And that highway's building contract's with a company The Paragon Group controls, eh?" Ramon interjects, thinking back to similar deals that crooked promoters would do in Mexican Wrestling Federations.

"Seems like it" you reply, adding "It's for the stadium that's gonna"

"Be used for the for "Infinite Match's" later rounds, if the news reports that came out today are accurate" Vanessa cuts in, Seth stopping in front of a large gate while flashing identification in front of a small screen as a large door slowly opens, an expansive and well-lit Parking Garage revealing itself out of an old building as the car you're riding in pulls inside...

"So... Anything Else?" you

"Maybe... We've got a few more Questions inside, plus there's a few release forms that you'll never have to bother about us again" Seth replies.

"Just standards and procedures" Vanessa chips in as the car pulls to a stop, the doors opening and Ramon getting out and holding you door, cracking a joke at his expense that makes you giggle a little as you and a security team follows you through a series of similar-looking hallways and doors, reminding you of the Kagura Clinic a little before Ramon & Vanessa point you to the room you're going to be spending some time in with them.

"I've got to clear up a few other things... So I'll leave this up to you two OK?" Seth tells his comrades before heading down the hallway.

"This ain't gonna be one of those "Good Cop, Bad Cop" tripes is it? Because I'm going along with this 100%" you tell Vanessa & Ramon, both of them smiling at you as they walk you inside.

"Nah, that's CIA Bullshit; No point in slapping someone's face when they're willing to talk" Vanessa tells you as you pull up a seat and Ramon starts up a recorder (Probably for dramatics)...

You unzip your leathers a little as Vanessa starts you off with a fair line of Questioning: The usual "Who are you" (Self-Explanitory), "Where were you born" (Ditto), "What do you do for a living" ("Odd Jobs around town mostly; I'm looking for work right now though"), along with a few other "Softballs" lobbed at you, mostly about what kind of fighting style you use and what your elemental ability is (Which raises eyebrows, as Electricity Users are VERY rare, even in the world of martial arts that you're a part of).

Then the mood changes as Ramon asks "What do you know about your father?"

You pause at that, wondering if there's an ulterior motive and reply "Well, he worked as an Athropologist by trade, but he had a lot of other passions; Motorcycles, Cricket, Rugby, living in the great outdoors... He taught me a lot."

"The anthropology''s how he met your mother, Right?" Ramon asks.

"Yeah... But I haven't heard or seen him in almost Eight years" you admit, telling them how you had recieved a call about his mysterious disappearance and while there had been a police investigation, the case ceased due to a lack of evidence.

"What about your mother?" Vanessa asks, Ramon letting her take control of this one while checking something on his cellphone (Actually playing the hottest new game "Rocket Monkeys" with the sound off, though you can't see him do this).

"She died when I was 13" you let out with a sigh, remembering the rainy night in the hospital when you had stayed by her side, losing yourself in the book "Gavity's Rainbow" partly as a way to get some extra credit at school, though you DID hold her hand and feel her spirit leave when she finally passed. "It was a hard one to lose her;I never could read books after that..."

"I see... Now, when did you first start to hear about the Kyokugen Dojo's financial troubles?" Vanessa asks, clearly realizing that she struck a raw nerve and didn't want to press on it any further.
>>
>>30318985

"Well, honestly, the whole school's been under-funded fer gawd knows how long; They get money from the Tournamanets sometimes, sure, but they usually make bank from the Yahoos that come in off the street and try to do what I and the others did" you reply, adding "But I didn't really know the nuts and bolts of what was goin' on until Takuma Sakazaki, the Head of the entire Kyokugenryuu orginization, opened up to me after he had been hosptialized."

"I read about that; Allegedly a man had tried to ransack the Dojo and ended up taking three or so practitioners to the hospital?" Vanessa asks, though mostly looking for a confirmation on the details.

You nod, then tell her "And while I don't know his name, but I think I might know who did it if I could see his face..."

"Is that right?" Ramon asks, joking "You're really singin' now eh?"

"Well yeah; I can TRUST you guys. I wouldn't go to the police even if my life depended on it."

"The brutality gig, correct?" Ramon intones, Vanessa looking at him a little harshly over bringing up such a possible-traumatisingevent in such a non-chalant manner.

"Yeah... Of course, then there were the three sepperate Assasination Attempts, the Electrocutions, my Appartment getting sacked and cutting my ties from the Kyokugen Dojo over... Well, let's just call it "Issues" and leave it at that" you droningly reply, seemingly bored at all of the craziness your life's gone through when you hear your stomach growl, blushing a little at the sound it makes.

"Well, that's all I had in mind for her; You got anything Senorita?" Ramon asks Vanessa, the last word out of his mouth sounding slightly sweet as she smirks, seemingly content to let his remark

"Well, I was GOING to ask for food, but I'dunno, I think we're done here" Vanessa replies, adding "Unless she doesn't mind another quick roud of questioning, of course."

"No... Because I'm not forcing you to do anything; As far as I'm concerned, you're free to go" Vanessa says before walking over and whispering "It's just that if you order the food, the state picks up our tab and we're just as hungry as you are."

"OK, you got me... Anyone up for Chinese? I know a pretty good place right across the street from this Pharmacy I go to" you tell her, Ramon knowing exactly the place you're talking about as he calls them up on his Cellphone.

"What do you want?" he asks.

"A No.6 With Vegetables on the Side" you reply, then look at Vanessa and ask "OK, what's on your mind?"

Vanessa walks out of the room, then arrives around five minutes later and shoves a fairly large stack of forms for you to sign, going through each one and explaining what exactly they mean. After agreeing to just about all of the ones that she required you to sign, the flow of questioning switches to filling in names, dates and events as the food gets there VERY quickly, the three of you taking a break to eat up as your meal tastes WONDERFUL, filling you up before Ramon casually switches off the tape-recorder.

"OK, these are going off the record, as they're based on subjection and hearsay... But what do you know about Jean-Claude Gabriel?" Vanessa asks

"... Really?" you incredulously reply, then add "I watched him fight down at the Pao Pao cafe last night with Mary's friend Terry and that was the end of it,"

"Then what's this?" Vanessa asks, slipping out a piece of paper that Jean had slipped you the night before

"It could be Jean-Claude's phone number, but it could also be some random one he put on just to screw with me... Maybe it's the code for a bomb, or some kind of message or somethin'?" you tell her, never really thinking it could be anything else.

"We checked all of those out, actually... Turns out it's his legit cellphone number" Ramon replies in between bites of his Sweet & Sour pork.

"And then he must've slipped you the note, right?" She asks, then tells you "How would you like to go undercover with us; String this guy along, see what he wants and maybe implicate him for a corruption charge that goes all the way up to the state gubernatorial office?" Vanessa asks, munching on some Chicken Chow-Mein.

"You can't be serious are ya'? Didja even READ what's happened to me in the last three months?!" you frantically try to explain, then add "I've ran over black cats that've had more luck than me!"

"Maybe so, but you've got something our best informants don't have" Vanessa sultrily tells you, then adds "Besides that, you could get enough money to get you going at a place of your own, if you had wanted."

You take a long look at the two of them, both of them practically expecting you to drop whatever's going on in your life to become an "Agent"...

>B. Gracously decline, then ask if you could leave now, then see if you can get a chauferred ride back to "The Sleeping Dragon" pharmacy (Roll 4d100 for Diplomacy, Luck in getting them to accept your request, Speed in getting back the Pharnacy & Luck in finding your bike still there)

... It's as good of a cliff-hanger as one could ask for, I suppose.

>Pause Updates

Firstly, I want to thank each and every player that participated in this round today.

After what went down during the previous thread, I realised how heartless and how much of an idiot I was for allowing myself, as QM, to do such a heinous thing to my playerbase; Y'all deserved better than that and I want to BE better than that... But Rome wasn't built in a day and all I can hope for is that I'm back on the right track.

As such, if this thread makes it through the night, Updates will resume at 8 AM PST, 11 AM EST. If not, a new round will start up at around the same timeframe.

>>A. Accept their offer and watch all of those James Bond Fantasies come to life!
...because why not?
Also, if I might make a suggestion - it's unlikely to come up, given how the playerbase is picking up, but could we institute a 2-vote minimum?

The thing you have to realize is you actually did nothing wrong, or at least nothing evil. The dice rolled and you went with it, if anything you took the big man's road.

You did do a mistake though, and that mistake was all those therapies with Lee, those were punishments forever depriving us of our toy (Katja's electricity and Ki) instead of pushing the story forward. I personally put up with them because I expected them to give a bonus to our powers and instead...

Anyway, we have to call a cat a cat, that Bizuki thing was a definite cop-out, but hell this is the only quest I really follow and I'd rather have a cop-out than see it die.
Just try to avoid things like that whole "you have to wait and suck until then with maybe a chance of not sucking again" in the future.

> C
Also, this is a perfect example of "suck, and suck", subjecting the chance we have our bike back to a dice roll, this has the potential of turning into another "you have to go through the suck again" type of deal.
Avoid those unless they make the story advance, which in the case of randomly losing our bike doesn't.

Oh and reduce the dice rolls, it's slowly becoming absurd the number of dices we have to roll for the simplest things, especially when those in the end are just totally random chances of not screwing up with absolutely no place for skill.
>>
>>30324558

Noted... And yeah, at this point, I'm content to save Dice Rolls for combat or truly unique situations.

>Updates now Resume

>You Now assume direct control of Katja Hartkern

You mull it over for a long while, not even hiding the nervousness washing over your face "Honestly? ... I'dunno, I'd need more time to think about it."

Vanessa gives you a knowing nod, then says "You're free to go then; there's a driver waiting outside that'll take you wherever you want to go."

You nod, then feel a buzz from your pants pocket as you get up and walk out of the room, seeing a clean-cut looking fellow in sunglasses and a suit & tie waiting for you, a blindfold in his hand.

"Gag order, right?" you ask, seeing him wordlessly nod "Yes". "Kay... I'd like to go back to China Town, near where I was picked up."

The man nods again and motions you to put the eyeblinds on, your vision dark as he grabs your hand, leading you down a long hallway and making a few turns as you hear the ground you walk on turning to concrete as he taps your shoulder, quietly asking you to take your blindfold off so you can get inside the backseat of another menacingly-Black Sedan, belting yourself up and putting the blindfold back on.

After a minute or so, you hear the car start up and begin to move, the route more-or-less indecipherable as your mind starts to wander, thinking back to that light you had seen when everything went black...

After a while, you feelthe car start to wobble a little, the driver doing an expert job of saving it as he says "Feels like a flat tire... I'm going to pull off and check it OK?", feeling the car pull off whatever road it's on and go down what feels like a bumpy side-street.

You hear the trunk pop open and feel the driver get out of the car as it comes to a stop, slightly worried about what's going on... Though you hear the sound of a Jack hoisting up the passenger side of the car and breathe a slight sigh of relief.
>>
Appologies for these slow updates; I've got five-six people looking over my shoulder and jaw-jabbing at me today...

>>30326027

After what feels like an eternity, the right rear side drops down and the trunk closes, the driver getting back inside and telling you "Sorry about that... It took me a little longer than expected."

you don't say anything, just willing this to end so you can have some peace and quiet to yourself somewhere as the car's engine fires up again and you start to move, a few more minutes before the driver stops and says "Here you go."

You nod, then unbuckle your seatbelt and take off your eyblinds, seeing that the rear windows were tinted dark enough that you could'nt see outside anyway... You save your grumbling and get out, standing directly in front of the Sleeping Dragon" and hearing your chaufer drive off without so much as a second glance.

You take a look around, noting the hustle and bustle in the streets that you hadn't been accustomed to and shrug, leaning your body up on the wall on the shop and grab your cellphone, noting that it's around 1:30 PM and that there's two new tect messages: One from King acknowledging your previous message and asking what would be a good day to go out, while the other one's from Shen Woo and reads "Yo. Some dudes tried to steal your bike, but I knocked them the fuck out; Your stuff's in the shed out back behind The Dragon."

You smile at that, then head down the alleyway behind the pharmacy and see a decript-looking storage shed,, what looks like your motorcycle parked inside and sticking out a little as you open the door, seeing your helmet and gloves on the seat.

You wheel your bike out and slip your helmet on, letting the engine warm up as you ponder what to do today...

You kick the bike into gear and ride down to Meadow's Park, zipping through traffic wth the grace of an Alpine Skier and an almost weightless feeling overcomes you, a psychological monkey off your back as you ride up to the park, noting that there isn't much of a crowd today and wondering if it's a public session today, like the others had seemingly been.

You walk up to where

"Where is everybody?" you ask, sounding as though you aren't exactly the"Sharpest tool in the shed" as the sensei pauses, then stops and clears his throat.

"When you've lived as long as I have, you don't have to worry all that much about the intangible things in life" he tells you, his voice sounding a little frail but full of conviction that resonates with you deep dow. "Aside from that, the summer always sees a drop in participants; New things to occupy them with. different experiences... Not a bad thing, but nothing I worry about; Even if I was the only person here, I still go through my practice as same as always, just as I have for nearly 40 years now."

You nod, then ask "Do you partake in the martial arts, sir?"

"A long time ago, yes... But my grandchildren and successors take care of that now."

"Well, I was wondering, what do you know about Ki? The flow of life, the flow of energy and stuff like that?" you ask, trying not to sound completely clueless or disrespect him.

"... You sensed your abilities rise up from inside of you, then?"

"I've been seeing a guy down in China Town, getting accupuncture sessions to try and rewire my flow, slow down my energy before my body could handle it... But I'm not liking his advice anymore" you admit, thinking about how mind-numbingly boring the last few days had been and realising how much the thrill of fighting had gotten to you after wrecking Bizuki Iijima...
>>
>>30328927

He glances at you, then says "I can tell that you're still in the romantic part of your life, seeking the thrill of testing oneself against others... I too went through that phase once, but I got over it after a while."

You nod, but again ask him "Could... Could you help me with my problems? With my body not being able to control my Ki?"

"... Sure. Just follow my lead" he says, then starts to do his forms, mimicking his every move as best as you can and feeling almost weightless, like a psychological monkey's been thrown off of your back as the techniques get more intricate and complex, stumbling a little but still keeping up well for not recognizing the movements.

After an hour, he stops and takes a breath, your hear racing a little as he says "That.. Was something I haven't done in a long time."

"Yeah... Hey, what's your name?" you ask, realizing that he had never formally introduced himself before.

"They called me... Slick. Sukihiro Slick, once upon a time" he replies, though he looks to the Southwest and says "I'll have to retire earlier than I thought today... But if you can practice that routine with me once a week and do it on your own, you shuld be fine."

You pause at that, then explain that you've got a tournament that you want to participate in that's little less than two weeks away.

"Slick" looks at you and says "I see... Then you should try to practice it on your own at least once a day, everyday until it starts."

You smile, then bow and start jogging back down to your bike, wondering what you could do with the rest of your day...

A, because hiking in bike leathers is a bad idea.

Also, good call on no malus rolls: it was making things harder than they needed to be by having to compete against luck AND the GM's dice, plus it'll speed things up a little with less rolling.

You hop on your bike and fire the engine up, slipping on your helmet and gloves but just sit for a moment, letting the bike idle as you wonder what to do...

You don't feel like going off on a hike right now (Not in riding leathers, anyway!) and while calling Terry, or Robert, or even Shen might've sounded like a good idea, your mood changed after that Tai-Chi session...

With nothing better to do, you ride down to Sound Beach, traffic slowing you down a little but not really minding it all that much; With how your day's gone so far you're in no real rush to get anywhere and arrive just as the sun starts to drop in the sky, the late afternoon wind feeling good as you pull up to the parking lot.

You unzip your leathers all the way off, revealing a few odd-looking sweat stains on your Black Undershirt and wonder if it's time to wash your leathers again as you hop off the bike and take your helmet with you, heading out onto the beatch for a long walk, most of the "Day-Trippers" already gone and leaving you alone with your thoughts...

You're surprised at how good your body feels after going without attempting to fight for nearly a week... And wonder "Why did I still miss it?"

You pause at that, stopping dead in your tracks as you look out at the ocean... And while you try to justify your actions to that dreadfully awful woman Bizuki, you still feel almost bad for DESTROYING her the way you did (ESPECIALLY if it screwed up Mary for the rest of her life or something, which you don't rule out considering your incredibly bad luck)...

You wonder if it has to do with your fighting style and how it's still rooted in Kyokugenryuu, thinking that it might be a good time to try and change it, or possibly replace some of the attacks you learned with moves of your own design (That "Lightning Rush" you made up on-the-fly coming to mind).
>>
>>30332651

"Why do I even bother with all this?" you wonder out loud, looking out at this gorgeous day and feeling like a misreable wreck over what kind of purpose you have in life... Hell, IF you even have one anymore; You got kicked out of the Dojo you had felt like was a second home to you, you hadn't really got into the whole "Journey around The World and Kick Ass" gig that Ryo Sakazaki & Robert Garcia did... Shit, the only reason you wanted to join up i "The Infinite Match" ANYWAY was to raise up enough money to buy back the debt that the Dojo had owed...

Youlook into the sea once again as the sun starts to set, sitting on a large piece of driftwood and thinking if now WOULD be the right time to stop, or to maybe give up this kind of fighting after the next KoF's over and done with...

>A. Admit that you don't have the stomach for fighting anymore, but press on and keep fighting until "The Infinite Match" ends (With a possible Time-Skip also on offer)

>B. Shake your head "No" and realize that deep down, you love this... Just that you want to fight for YOU. Not for a goal, not for a Dojo, not even for pride, fame or fortune... But for yourself and no one else.

>C. Head back to your bike and ride home; The last thing you want to do tonight is be caught out after dark, ESPECIALLY after what you did to Bizuki might tip off more Assasins, or a Bounty being put on you or something...

>D. Call up "Blue Mary" and see if she responds, if only for your own paece of mind (Roll 1d100 for Luck that she's recovered enough to do so)

>E. Call up Shen Woo, ask him to tell Dr. Lee Pai Long that you aren't going in for your appointment today and hit up one of the Pao Pao Cafe's; You want to see if your fighting prowess earlier this morning wasn't a fluke.

>F. Call up the house phone for The Kyokugen Dojo and formally challenge "Mr. Karate" to a fight; You'll be DAMNED if they don't acknowledge your strength (If they don't already).

>>30333729

You wait for a sign or something you could use to answer your question, but nothing comes up as you stare off into the horizon line, the sky turning orange and the light beginning to fade away as an incredible sunset begins to start... And while there IS a part of you that wants to shout out and say "I fight for ME!" and shake the air, you figure that life can't exactly be like something out of a bad movie ALL the time and drop it; This is a nagging question for sure, but it's also one that you probably won't be able to answer easily as you kick off your shoes and head back towards your bike, walking on the sand and letting it warm up your feet.

By the time you get back to your bike, the Sun's partly set (As your absent-mindedness took you almost all the way down the entire length of beach, nearly 4 Miles in total) and sigh out of relief that the one-piece leather riding suit you had on earlier is still resting on the seat. You put it back on and shove your boots on over it, putting on your helmet and fire up the bike, listening it to it rev and wondering when those new exhausts for it are going to come in at "Wessel's Garage" as you head back to "The Imperial" hotel, using side roads and the one up and around Meadow's Park to try and beat the late evening "Rus Hour" traffic...

And it works wonderfully, the extra 20 Minutes on what's normally an Hour dive easily prefferable to twiddling your thumbs waiting up to 2 HOURS in the quagmire that is South Town Expressway Route 419... You check in at the front desk of the imperial, smelling of seaweed and sand, asking "Any calls while I was out?"

"Yes, actually... One's from the Kagura Clinic and they would like to speak with you urgently; I've had them on hold for about an hour or so" The head receptionist replies.
>>
>>30335406

You practically grab the phone out of the tall, dark and (Honestly) handsome clerk's hand and ask "Katja Hartkern speaking."

"Hey... How's it going?" Blue Mary asks you as you barely can conatin your joy at hearing her (Admittedly) weak voice.

"Mary!"

"Yeah..." she pauses, then says "I don't know what really happened with me, but I'm feeling good enough to talk, so that's something."

"I'm just glad that you're alright" you reply, adding "AndI got to take care of wh might've done this to you too."

"Really?"

"Yeah... Your cloak & dagger pals have her right now as far as I know" you tell her, then start to ask "When're you gttin' out?"

"I'dunno... The doctors all said that I' free to go, but I asked for a overnight observation; I feel like I got hit by a truck" Mary replies, sounding quite tired to you.

"Yeah, I can tell... Well, rest up tonight and I'll try to get in touch with you tomorrow?" you offer, looking around the expansive lobby just in case someone might be listening in on your conversation...

"That sounds good..." Mary replies, yawning and then hanging up after a simple "G'night." as you hand the phone back to the clerk ("Rigo! THAT was his name!" you think to yourself).

"What was the other call about?" you ask, the wear and tear of the day starting to slowly get to you.

"It was from a private number; The man only would identify himself as "Claude" and insisted that put him on hold until he could talk to you" Rigo explains as your mind races while your stomach seemingly flips upside-down, knowing (Or at least expecting) what the call might be about...

I'm referring to the suggestion the agents team made here >>30321089 to help them nail this guy to the wall - it's entirely separate from the tournament. We'd still be teamed up with King and Yuri for KoF, which means we'd be screwing the git over from about three different angles..
>>
>>30336780
I mean, despite Katja's ongoing existential crisis, I don't see why not helping the Agents Team, especially with their track record
>>

Then unless I misconstrue your statement, I do believe we are in agreement.
Everything's suddenly gone all formal. Perhaps I should fetch my monocle.

Everything in your mind's telling you to just drop this guy's call, head upstairs and enjoy a quiet night to yourself... But whether on a dare or out of sheer curiousity, you tell Rigo to patch him through to you, having him hand the desk phone over to you as you wait for the line to clear up, asking "Hello?"

"Hey there... You didn't return my call" the voice on the other end replies.

"Err... Well, I guess I kinda forgot about it? I lead a fairly busy life and it just sorta slipped my mind" you sheepishly reply, not even thinking about how much of a bone-headed mistake you just made as you hear "Claude" chuckle.

"I do that all the time as well" he says before getting right to the point of this call: "I was wondering if you'd like to get a drink with me tonight, or treat you to dinner? There isn't a single bar or restraunt that wouldn't turn us away..."

The look on your face is damn-near indescribable as you stammer out "W-Well, Uh, I'dunno... I wouldn't mind a meal and a chance to talk, but I don't really have any formal wear."

"Why not get a dress with me then? Like I said, there isn't much in this town I can't get... Except for a cure for lonliness, I suppose" "Claude" sighs as you wonder less "What kind of angle is he playin'?" and more "What the bloody FUCK?" as you chew on your words and wonder what to say...

"Are you still there?' he asks, then adds "I appologise for my rudeness, but I've got a flight to catch tomorrow morning and won't be in for a few days..."

"Oh... Well... Why me?" you ask, curiousity getting to you.

He pauses, then explains "Well, to be blunt, I like "Strong" women... Not necessarily masculine, mind you, but I like a woman who can stand on her own two feet, that takes pride in herself and her body and could hold her own in a fight just in case... And YOU are the best example of that I've ever seen",A part of you wondering if the world's full of weirdoes like him or if you really ARE attractive...?

"You know, I'm kind of tired tonight" you tell him, but quickly add "When will you get back into town? Probably Monday, maybe Tuesday... Though, Tuesday Night's booked for me because I'm hosting a party" "Claude" explains.

"Wednesday night then, I guess?"

"...Maybe. I wan't to try and shoot for Monday, but I don't know how this little side-project of mine's going to go until Sunday morning" "Claude" tells you, the ambient noise on the other line suggesting that he's being chauffuered somewhere.

"Finger's crossed for monday then?" you ask, wanting this conversation to end and nearly hyperventilating over the thought of having to actually fake a date with a man who had a "Blood Contract" out on you.

"... I'll see you around, Ma Cherie" "Claude" says as he hangs up, your hand trembling at the thought of what you just said to him...

"H-Hereyou go" you stutter as you rush, no, BOLT for the elevator, waiting before you drop the mother of all F-Bombs on the way up to your room, running out of breath about a quarter of the way up and gasping for breath as you head inside your room, stripping out of your clothes and taking a shower first and foremost.

You head out of the bathroom and dry yourself off around 15 Minutes later, feeling pretty refreshed as you grab your cellphone and call up the number Seth gave you, praying that i wasn't a "One-Use Only" call or something...

"You know you aren't supposed to call this number, right?" Seth asks you, already knowing you'reon the other line.

You hold back your initial shock and tell him 'I want to be a part-time agent.'

Seth pauses, then says "Think very, VERY carefully about the words you just said... Now run that by me again."

"I... Well, two members of your team gave me a line of questioning and"

"You want to join their case huh?" Seth says, cutting you off mid-sentence and simply asking you "Why?"
>>
>>30342376

You pausefor a moment too long and Seth yells "See? Now rip up this damn number or else I WILL send a SWAT team on your a-

"Because I'V GOT A DATE WITH JEAN-CLAUDE GABRIEL!" you scream, praying that the walls really are insulated and that no one's been up her and "Bugged" you room.

"... Seriously?"

"Yeah... And I'dunno if he's tryin' to rub me out, or really IS head-over-heels for me, but I want to help your agency take this guy out" you reply, filled with conviction at wanting to stop the chaos Jean's Men & Women have caused you over the last three months.

"OK... What did you have in mind? Wire service? Because that's so easy even a rookie could pull it off" Seth asks, slowlywarming up to the idea but not exactly sold on it yet.

"Maybe, but can a rookie tick all of his boxes like I do? Would you be able to run in Vanessa, or Mary or whoever you've got running under your banner and NOT suspect that he already knows?" you ask, then add "It's perfect because guess what? I'm new. No one's got a file on me, I keep a low profile, I live a fairly anonymous life... I'm perfect for this."

"... Fair point. You've got a lot of gumption for doin' this too, but you gotta remember that you're in this, you can only get out through retirement or death"

"What about Terry bogard helpin' out Mary from time-to-time?"

Seth lets out an annoyed sigh, then says "OK, fine, you're in; When'll you be available to get into wardrobe and when's our target going to meet with you?"

"Any day from 5/21-5/23 onwards, but we haven't discussed the dates and times yet" you tell him, add ing"And I'll make sure to be in Saturday for a fitting an briefing, if that's alright with you."

Seth pauses, fuming a little at you making demands on him, but he brushes it off (Recognizing the opportunity Ramon & Vanessa have to complete this hare-brained case) and says "Alright. Welcome aboard and get some rest" before hanging up on you.

You go over to where the phone listings were and ask for Room Service, thinking about ordering up some food... But you skip Dinner for a bit, slip off your clothes and do some laps in the pool, finding it quite invigoraing after a hot shower and pushing your body harder than you had in nearly a week and finishing up well under the previous best time you had done last night (40 Laps in 35 Minutes compared to 39) and lay out on the concrete after you had gotten out, just soaking up the feeling of swiming that hard before drying yourself off yet again...

After slipping into some fresh pajamas, you ordered up some food from "Big Dave's Steakhouse" and had a relatively quiet night in with yourself, the food tasting JUST right tonight for some reason and drifting off to sleep at 9:39 PM, falling asleep on bed looking up dress sizes using a "Share-Ware" "Three Sizes" dress-finder, shutting the lap-op off and eager to get some rest, approaching tomorrow with a fresh mindset and excited at the possibilities it might bring...

Why? Well, there was no denying it and Lee Pai Long could basically stick where the sun won't shine, because you were BACK on the fighting scene, pleasant dreams of beating the ever-loving shit out of generoc-looking thugs while dressed up in an outfi that reminded you of american comicbook superhero "Ghost Rider" filling your head...

>Updates now OFFICIALLY resume

>You are now in Direct Control of Katja Hartkern

You wake up at around 8 AM, your body feeling a little stiff and sore from the fighting and work-outs from the previous day. You slowly get up, rubbing the crust from your eyes and start to stretch, going through the routine that you had honed from years of practice, confident that you could probably do this in your sleep (And vaguely wonder if you have already, thinking back to the time you spent at The Kyokugen Dojo and the near 6 AM Wake-Up call everyday)...

It takes you a little bit, but your body starts to move normally by the time you finish up your "Warm-Up" routine (Which is equivalent to an avergae Gmynast's "OMFG" Stretching Session) and head downstairs to the gym, making a beeline to the treadmill.

You strip down to your underwear, set the machine to go on a slight incline and start running, looking to get your blood pressure up and start the day off with a sweat, also preparing for a hike you wnat to take later in the day...

You finish up exactly 30 minutes later, a slight sweat on your brow and body, but mostly feeling ready to tackle something else...

>A. Hit the Weight Bench and start pumping your Bodyweight; It's time to step up to what you think most Martial Artists of your caliber (Roll 2d100 for Power & Strength)

>B. Hit up the Freeweights and start at around 30 Lbs Each (60 Total), doing 3 sets of any given style (Shoulder-Shrugs, Curls, Bicep "Flex" Etc. Etc.) (Roll 3d100 for Power, Strength & Dexterity)

>C. Do 3 Sets of 20 Pull-Ups each; Can't forget about your arms now, can you? (Roll 2d100 for Power & Strength)

>D. 2 Sets of 150 Sit-Ups on the specially-made Bench; Accept no substitutes ( (Roll 3d100 for Strength, Defense & Speed)

You stretch out your arms and legs, feeling "Loose" as you go over to the pull-up bar and take a breath, then start your first set and finding it fairly easy for you today, almost like you HAD been healed yesterday in Lee's shop...

By the end of your second set you start to feel a little ache in your arms, but you press on and finish up your third set, feeling like it might be a good chance to take a break... Besides, you hear your stomach starting to growl back at you.

You let out a contented sigh, hearing your shoulders "Pop" into place as you walk back upstairs. You grab your phone, send out a pair of text messages to Yuri & King asking them if they want to join you today while you're out clothes shopping, then get dressed in a pair of old Cargo Pants you liked the look of when browsing a Surplus Millitary store, a Black T-Shirt and a Black "Bomber" Jacket you haven't worn in a while (Leaving your leather "Kangaroo Suit" at home today, as you're going to have to wash it when you get back) as you head downstairs for some breakfast.

After treating yourself to a Prosciutto and Egg Panini that was DELICIOUS to your taste buds, you check your phone again to see that Yuri & King haven't replied yet... Worried about them a little, but understanding that it's earliy in the day, you headed out on your motorcycle to The Kagura Clinic, dodging the morning hours traffic that's plagued the city of South Town lately, arriving at the Hospital an hour after you had left The Imperial and just caught Terry Bogard and Mary Ryan walking out of the

You give them both big ole' hugs and ask "You feelin' better?"

You nod, mulling over your answers and reply "Good. I cleared out at the doctor's office, so I can start fighting again..."

"you nervous?"

"... Yeah. Not the whole "Secret Agent Woman" thing, but my first mission, I guess..." you admit, looking down at the ground and slumping a little.

You look up at her and smile, saying "C'mon now, I can't blow my job before I start it."

Mary giggles a little, replying "You'll go far in this gig, I'll tell you what" as she playfully punches you on the shoulder.

"Yeah..." you reply, your intuition probing to be right as you see Terry head over, a couple of bottles of water in his hands.

"Awright, you two cleared the air about your work?" he asks, knowing that he doesn't want to hear something that might

You back away from terry a little bit as he throws out a "Power Wave" projectile, his fist hitting the ground quite awkwardly to your eye as you dodge it and try to smack him in the face with a flying Hard Kick, only for him to stuff it out with a "Rising Tackle" (though his accent makes you think it's "RIESANG TACO!"), his legs propelling you up into the air and drilling into you chest.

You Ukemi out of the fall though and hit him with a quick Ha'oh Raiinken, knocking Terry back and away from you as you wonder if you should try to get on the offense now, or try somthing else, as his awkward-looking attacks are some kind of STRONG... But then get a lucky break when you're Kohou beats his "Burning Kunckle" cleanly, knocking him down and at your feet... You back away to try and get away from him, bbut he lands a low sweep kick that knocks you out of it and then lands a "Power Dunk", smashing you into he beach's sand as you scramble to try and get away from him, just managing to throw him with a Tani Otoshi as youget back up and face him...

Thinking about the stories you've heard about "The Legendary Hungry Wolf" and figuring that he's seen just about everything a Martial Artist could see, you go for something different:

You run straight towards him and zip past his attempt at a throw, then blast him with sixlighting-fast punches, the last one popping him up into the air and setting up a BIG opportunity for you to deal some damage, which you take up with gusto: Jumping up in the air with a "Short" punch, then landing and hitting him with a Thrust Punch, though Terry recovers and knocks into with a special move of his own that even Mary hadn't seen before: A 3-Hit attack that starts with two "Low-Blow" Punches, then smashes his shoulder into you, yelling "POWAH CHARGE!" as he knocks you down into the sand once again.

You stagger back up and take a look at him, A toothy grin on his face as he says "Hey Rookie! Get Serious!", trying to shrug off your attacks as Blue Mary sips on her water bottle, swaying back and forth, itching at the chance to fight you later...

And while you wonder if you're dealing any damage to him, at the same time a part of your mind's excited at the fact you're going up against this guy not for pride, not for money or honor... But for yourself. ONLY for yourself.

You spring back up to your feet and put your guard up, Terry rushing in with a few punches to try and bait you to counter-attack, but you hold your guard and throw him again with a Tani Otoshi, though your follow-up attack doesn't work as Terry Ukemi's out of it and lands a "Crack Shoot" kick, knocking you down yet again... Though you roll to safety and hit him with a Thrust Punch and try to land a Ha'oh Raijinken, though yet again Terry doesn't seem to mind and smacks you with a quick uppercut, then lands a Burn Knuckle as you try to fall away from him.

"Whew! What a workout!" you hear him yell, taunting you a little as you slowly get back up, the"Friendly" fight starting to turn into a real 'Slug-Fest" as the two of you are trading blows at an almost equal pace... Or is he trying to game you, or lure you into making a mistake?

You slowly pick yourself up, Terry asking "Hey Katja? You stil want to do this?"

You nod your head "Yes" and put up your guard, Terry running up with a shoulder charge, thoughyou block and dodge the Power dunk-like follow-up and hit a quick Kohou, Terry recovering only to smash into you with a Burning Knuckle, your guard nearly breaking from the strength of his attack as you try to look for a weak point in his offense... And can't seem to find one; He's covering his bases quite nicely and there doesn't seem to be any real way for you to capialize on his reckless offense...

So you, hold yourself back, waiting for Terry to hit you with an attack that might give you the opening you want and get it, Terry trying to grab you by the collar of your shirt, though you punch him in the gut with a "Blow-Back Attack", then run towards him and use the Raijin Lightning Rush to land a few big hits as you can see Terry tiring from your fight with him, knocking up into the air once again as you try to hit a Ha'oh Raijinken, though, you miss it as Terry scrambles to his feet and readies an ace in the hole for times like this...

"Hey Katja! Are you OKAY?!" Terry yells, turning his fist back like he's going to try and land another Burning Kuckle, except the execution is a LOT more deliberate and he rocket towards you...

Your eyes widen and you IMMEDIATELY hold up your guard, Terry's fist breaking it as he yells "BUSTAH WOOORLF!!!", a second impact flaring up around him while you use your lightning-like relexes to roll past it.

"I'm gone Mate! I'm done!" you yell as you hop away from him, a smalll cloud of sand blasting up around you as the two of you eye each other for a little bit as a strange sense of... Well, you can't really tell what it is overwhelms you: Pride? Accomplishment? Success?

Terry looks at you, his gaze clearing up as he cracks a smile, yelling "Awright! That got my blood pumping...", giving you a fist-bump and acknowledging your strength.

"Yeah... Sorry about that Mate; I sorta just got caught up in it and don't know when to stop..." You sheepishly admit, realizing that you probably aren't going to have a chance to spar with Mary...

"Same here; It's been a while since I had to pay attention in a fight" Terry replies, huffing and puffing a little as he adds "You did good though... But don't forget that hunger you got, Kat. You keep that? Then you've got a REAL future at this."

You beam at that as Mary walks over, muttering "Damn it, I knew I should've had her fight me first..." before telling you "Yeah, you were real smart about too; Didn't let my man here's attacks cow you and kept the pressure up on him...", pausing a little bit to wordlessly ask Terry if he's alright.

After getting a non-commital shrug, Mary turns back to you and asks"So, you done for today? Or do you want to help me pracice my grappling a little bit?"

"Err... Could ya' give me a minute? I need to check my messages" you reply, not exactly adverse to sparring or doing grappling training with Mary, but needing to rest up and see if you're body's willing to go again after such a short rest.

"OK..." Mary sighs, then drops to the ground and starts doing one-armed push-ups.

"What're you all huffy about, Mary?" Terry asks, his hands in his jacket's pockets.

"I just really wanted to spar and get back in it today, that's all" Mary cooly replies, though you figure that's probably due to her mind starting to get back into the groove of training again after nearly a day trapped in god-knows-what kind of hellhole Bizuki Ijima had created...

You take a sip from your water bottle, watching Mary go through her routine a little bit before you grab your phone and check your messages, seeing that three people have tried to call you in the last hour...

The first message is from Shermie, basically asking you to seriously consider appearing at her Catalogue's Official Launch on Sunday to sign autographs and what-not, while the second one is from Shen Woo, explaining that "The boss just got in from his house call and won't be able to get to you until tonight at 6 PM".

You think of responding to the two of them, but you decide to read the third message instead, seeing that it was sent from King. It simply reads "Sure. Meet me at La Illusion as soon as you can... Mai's in and might offer to drive us around."

A part of you smiles at that, though at the same time you don't want to exactly miss an opportunity to deprive Mary of a chance to spar with you... Though she catches on to your inner musings and asks "So? What's up?" in between Terry "Spotting" her punches.

"Friends of mine want to take me out clothes shopping... And honestly, I don't know if I really want to."
>>
>>30375039

"I'm alright with it either way; You had a hell of a match with Terry here and I wouldn't want to pund you into the sand so close to the tournament" Mary replies as she switches to doing kicks, only lightly grazing Terry's palms as you ponder what to say....

You back away from Mary as she tries to advance towards you with a sliding kick, blocking it low and sweeping her as she tried to get back up. You sprang from out of your crouch and transition into a Raijin Rush flawlessly, though you look on in shock after Mary stays on the ground and harmlessly misses your attacks, tackling your legs and flipping you over and into the beachfront sand.

You Ukemi out of that, though not as quickly as you like as she yells ""Try using your brain a little... I can read you like a book!" before locking in a "Spinfall/Mary's Spider", grabbing your arm and asking "Give up?"

You give her a nod "No" and she makes a quick "Snap" motion, being a good sport and letting you get back up although you clutch your right arm and only just miss her "Hammer Arch" attack and counter it with a quick Ha'oh Raijinken with your "Good" arm, blasting her back and away from you as you try to work your arm back into place...

Mary doesn't seem to mind and tries to work her way back towards you, you you continue to "Stuff" her attempts repeatedly with Standing Hard Kicks, a few Thrust Punches and a Kohou, though Mary once again Ukemi's out of it and grabs you into a "Vertical Arrow", locking in a "Mary Snatcher" and slamming you into the ground once again...

Mary tries to kick you while you're down, but you roll out of it and Counter-Hit her with a quick Kohou, sending her skyward and "Powering Up", your body starting to glow a slightly golden tint... However you hold off on anything TOO crazy as Mary struggles to get up, that last attack knocking the woind out of her...

You idly wonder if she's trying to toy with you and force you to advance on offense, but you hold your ground annd wait for her to crack, your energy slowly depleting as the two of you eye each other dow, playing the Martial Arts equivalent of "Chicken"...

Mary eventually cracks and tries that funky-look slide kick again as you deftly slip past her with the Raijin Lightning Rush, punching her in the back and catching her just as she was recovering and setting up the big one, the tried and true "Ryuuko RANBUU!", yelling the name of the attack and smacking her silly with a rain of punches and kicks...

Except she blocks it and you feel your body lock into place, your fists and feet flying without your control and Mary grins, yelling "That was DAMN good! But it's lights out for ya now!" as she shoulder's you, knocks you to the ground and starts to twirl you around in a "Giant Swing" motion, Mary tossing you a good ways away from her as you land on your back in a collossal cloud of sand, the impact hurting more than the throw itself and the phrase "DYNAMITE SWINGIN'!" ringing in your ears...

You gasp for breath as the dust settles, breathing hard after that fight and basically throwing in the towel for Mary, flashes of your fight with Tsuyako Horikawa rattling around in your head as you hear Terry and Mary walk towards you, your eyes pointed up at the blue sky above...

"Phew... What a workout!" Mary says, then squats down next to you and asks "We'll have to do this again soon, right?"

"Sure..." you mumble, joking "As soon as you pop my arm back into place and give me a week."

Mary shrugs, taking a little time to sit you up and then makes a quick motion on your right am, "Popping" it back into place like you had asked.

The pain was sharp for a few seconds, but then subsides a little as Mary cheekily asks "Better?"

"Yeah... Doesn't feel like I can ride though" you admit, Terry and Mary helping you up as you ask "It just... It feels like that no matter what I do, I can't shake the feelin' like it's my moves, or somethin' else holdin' me back... Any advice?"

"Honestly? And I mean really, brutally honest?" Mary rhetorically asks, then offers her opinion: "You've got no skill to your attacks... You need to read the game more, like chess."

"Really? I know I haven't had much experience fighin', but I always got high marks for 'Bein' smart' when it came to my sparring sessions" you wonder out loud, not quite ready to go along with the idea that YOU are the biggest obstical to your sucess...

"Nah, it ain't that; Mary's talkin' about how you approach the fight, how you flow in and out of it" Terry starts to explain, though Mary cuts him off.
>>
>>30384230

"I think the biggest thing you gotta ask yourself at this point is "Are you fighting to win? Or are you satisfied hearing, 'Good match?' Because while you were pretty good out there, it felt like your repertoire ran out halfway through the fight" She says, asking you that nagging

"Well... I only got taught the absolute basics to Kyokugen Karate and had to half-ass most of my moves by watching others do them" you concede, acknowledging your Dojo's messed-up systen of hierarchy... But then explan "Thing is, I just feel that I didn't do enough to make my moves stick out in either of your minds, y'know?"

"Well to be fair, while your attacks DID hurt like a mother, they all just seemed... "Bland". No real 'Pop" to any of them, even if the Lightning's not something you see everyday" Mary tells you as the three of you walk together for a little bit. Terry shouldering you on the left hand side.

"Hell Kat, you know from talking to me that I was always from the "Do it" school of thought; You can't get the kind of experience fighting like this brings without doing it until it becomes as easy as riding a bicycle" Terry tells you.

"I thought you never learned how to ride a bicycle?" Mary asks her man while you try to stiffle a chuckle... Though she changes her mood and says "To be honest, if this were three months or so earlier, I would've said 'Go back to the drawing board' and maybe tell you to fight as much as you could outside of the dojo you were going to..."

You bristle at that, not exactly taking Mary's words in stride though Terry adds "But to be fair, lightning and that weird teleport thing aside, you're solid-enough to start out in the KoF. Maybe not good enough to win it right out of the blocks, but easily a whole lot better than the poor fools that show up year-in, year-out to get the tar beaten out of them."
>>
>>30384606

"So it's just raw experience then..." you wonder out loud, Terry & Mary helping you back to your bike and his car (Mary's beloved cruiser probaby back at her place...) as you once again hear Mary's nagging question hit your ears ("Are you fighting to win? Or are you satisfied hearing, 'Good match?')...

You shake it out of your head and ask "Could you take me to the La Illusion guy? I ain't feelin' good enough to ride right now... Plus I was gonna go clothes shoppin' with your brotha's girlfriend and King."

Terry looks at Mary straddling your bike, getting comfy on it (As she's not familiar to riding sports bikes like yours) and asks "You OK with me picking you up at that hotel?"

"Sure... I can find stuff to occupy my time anyway" she replies as you take a sigh of relief, your head feeling a little woozy from the hits Mary gave you... Or a lack of food in your stomach, as you hear it rumble a little.

"Hop in" Terry asks, obliging only after you gave a quick hug to Mary (Hearing her yell "Next time I catch you at the Pao Pao Cafe, the Beer's on me") and falling off to sleep, nervously wondering if Mary'll be alright as she had taken your hits almost as badly as you had hers...

>You now resume Direct Control of Katja Hartkern

After sleeping off some of your injuries on the ride over (And dreaming that you were in a swords & sorcery world straight out of the likes of "Conan The Barbarian", except with Lasers, Mecha and a "Power-Metal" soundtrack), Terry taps you on the shoulder, telling you "We're here... You enjoy your nap Rookie?"

"Hmm...?" you drowsily reply, taking a yawn before noting that you're parked outside of "La Illusion", King & Mai Shiranui talking about something that you can't seem to hear as your mind starts to kick back into gear.

"Oh... Right... Thanks for givin' me a lift Mate" you tell Terry, shaking his hand and unbuckling your seatbelt.

"See you soon" he tells you with a smile, adding "Call me up when you get better and maybe we could do this again sometime?"

"Sure... I've got stuff goin' on before the tournament though" you reply as you get out of the car and tap the passenger side roof, Terry driving off and honking at you before you turn over to King & Mai, both of them dressed "To the Nines" (King in a Black suit and Mai in a Red Dress that looks like she could stop traffic in it... Or get arrested for "Indecent Exposure", respectively).

"Having fun early?" King asks, her arms crossed

"Yeah... Had a go at fightin' Terry & Mary this mornin'; Sorry I kept you two waitin'."

"No problem; I honestly needed a day out before I went back to training with Fiona & Tsuyako" Mai tells you, stretching her arms and legs a little.

"It can't be that bad, could it?" you ask.

"You haven't met Tsuyako-chan's mom..." Mai mutters, shaking her head at what she's had to endure for the last few days, her body looking fairly sore and stiff.

"Well... Shall we get going? I've got Sally & Elisabeth inside prepping the place for me today, but I want to get back fairly quickly" King tells you.
>>
>>30389968

"Sure... I had to get a ride over here, so I'll need to get back to my place in the center of town after we're done" you explain as the three of you clamber into Andy's car. "And to be honest, I don't know really where to start about this..."

"Well, the style of how you want to dress is up to you, but I know a place where we can get a special coating to keep your clothes from exploding" Mai tells you

'I tried that stuff for a while but I HATED how itchy my skin felt afterward" King chips in, an oddly-familiar Heavy Metal soundtrack coming from the sound system as Mai drives through traffic.

"Yeah, but I've been wearing the stuff with my traditional Shiranui Ninjutsu garb and I haven't had any problems" Mai tells you as King rolls her eyes at that, thinking about how Mai bragged that she had to create a special fabric to not only hold her body in without any kind of "Spillage", but also be around four times as strong as the average technical fabric...

"The real question is, what kind of style do you want to go for? Because take it from me: If you aren't comfortable in your clothes or with yourself, you aren't going to get far in the tournament" King says as you pause and wonder "What kind of clothing style DO you want to go for?"

>A. Go for something "Comfy".

>B. Try something "Provactive" or "Daring".

>C. Stick with the "Plain" kind of clothes you normally.

"Honestly? ... I really don't even know where to start; I never really dressed for "Style" or whatever, never had the money to really do it..." you truthfully admit, then ask "What would you two suggest?"

Mai & King both pause, Mai mostly from trying to deal with 'Lunch Hour" traffic and King for trying to craft a response...

"Well... I honestly think you could pull off a lot of styles, but it's all down to you and how you feel" King finally tells you, adding "I honestly think you could, well, dress smart lije I do, or

"I think you could rock the "Punk Rock Biker Babe" look REALLY well... Like, just use your leathers or something and add a top underneath it, or maybe something like a 70's style one-piece dress with pants maybe" Mai chipps in before honking her horn at the car in front of her, hearing her yell "REALLY Asshole?!"

You pause at that, then say "Let's try the 70's style first; I never was one for Punk Rock..."

Mai nods as she makes a right at the next intersection, heading out onto the highway as you wonder where she's taking you, drifting back to sleep a little bit before King says "Looks like we're here... Where IS this place, Mai?"

"It's a shop that Fiona turned me on to, actually... They're a second-hand store, but eveything they sell is of the highest quality" she tells you as she pulls into the parking lot outside a nondescript-looking building, the three of you getting out of the car and doing some stretches before going inside.

Despite the look on the outside, everything inside the store looks impressive, with a slightly dark, musty atmosphere, a tall Black guy with an ENORMOUS Afro browsing the men's wear as you look around, Mai and King already going to browse the racks for outfits that you might wear...
>>
>>30391916

A lot of it looks nice, though honestly not in colors or styles you really want to wear and ESPECIALLY not in a Martial Arts tournament, though you grab a couple of dressy shirts and pants that you wouldn't mind having...

"Find anything yet?" Mai asks as you note that she brought over some of the more "Racy" outfits you had seen (Some of them looking like they belonged to "Disco Queens" of the 70's and early 80's), while King

"I'dunno... The stuff they have 'ere for clothes are nice, sure, but none of them are stuff I'd like to wear in the tournament... Wearing around town, on the other hand.." you tell her, King grabbing a couple of rather stylish suits with outre-wide lapels, idly wondering if you should just try to go somewhere else...

>A. Try on Mai & King's clothes first, then decide if you want to go somewhere else.

>B. Check yourself out in the clothes you found, then see how they stack up in Mai & King's choices.

>C. Head out and try out somewhere else; Maybe a more "Punk" store, or something... You're liking leather and dark clothes a little more after seeing the eye-popping stuff on display.

You take a look at Mai & King's choices of dress and shrug, thinking "Why not?" as you tell them "Those look pretty good though... Let's try them on, yeah?"

Mai & King nod and you follow them over to the shop's changing rooms, taking their clothes and locking yourself inside one of them. You slowly eye yourself in the mirror as you start to slip out of your clothes and try on for the next hour, modelling for King & Mai to fairly obvious results: Mai liking her choices (Which, while nice and suitably sexy, leave you just a little bit exposed for your tastes) and King championing hers (Which look good, but make you feel like an office lady, or a bartender)...

You sigh and grumble a little, switching between your best choices from Mai & King: A Red "Pantsuit" Dress with a backless halter top that shows off your arm and back pretty well, but might lead to a few "Wardrobe Malfunctions" if you aren't careful, while King's best pick was a suit that seemed fairly close to the one she had already given you, except in a rather fetching dark shade of blue...

You honestly can't really find a fault with either of them and you can't really decide whether to go with either of them, a part of you wanying to get a third opinion...

>A. Go with Mai's Pick.

>B. Go with King's choice.

D. It's good to get a third opinion.

>D. Choose Neither and go somewhere else; These clothes just don't feel "Right" to you...

Honestly, the first dress feels a little too "Showy" for a girl like Katja to fight in IMHO, while the suit would make her look like King with scars, brown skin and super-short hair...

Sticking with D. Mai's looks like something for a night out, while King's is a little too stuffy. I'm thinking of something a little more rugged, like camo-print cargo pants. It has to accentuate Katja's earthiness and inherent strength from surviving the Outback.
>>
>>30398683

>D.

While Mai's outfit choice is good, it doesn' feel like a "Fighter's" outfit... Maybe get it anyway just in case for that "Date" she's got coming up?
>>
>>30398683
...I was not expecting this to be such a closely debated issue.
Might I suggest a compromise?
Get outfit >A, then look elsewhere for something a little more hard-wearing. If we don't find anything more suitable, it'll work as a fallback option, and if we do, it serves as good non-combat attire.
>>
>>30399516
So get A at least as general-purpose clothes?

Indeed. With the aforementioned option as fallback in potentia, naturally.

"You know..." You pause, trying to find the right words and going with "I mean, I like this dress 'ere Mai, really... But I just can't see myself fightin' in it", looking in the mirror as you model the Red, one-piece dress with black accents that she had picked out. "I feel like getting it, but I want to keep looking around just in case I find something better" you add, doing a spin-turn to give yourself one last look-over.

"OK" Mai replies, knowing fully well at the kind of soul-searching you've done when it came to identifying yourself as a woman (And realizing that she might've picked something that might've been TOO feminine), though she's impressed at the fact that you didn't even seem to blush at wearing something like this as it's a stark contrast to when you actually had a nervous breakdown the first time you even THOUGHT about wearing one of Shemie's swimsuits...

King nods and says "I'll put the rest of these back then", grabbing up her choices as you head back into the changing room, heading out a few minutes later back in your old clothes and holding the Red Dress in you hands as you walk up to the counter, Mai walking alongside you as you put the dress down to get tagged, noting that the price... Isn't exactly what you expected.

"$300!? For THAT thing?!" you all-but yell, the cashier giving you a harsh glare as Mai tries not to facepalm in front of you.

"Ma'am, this is an all-original from the 1970's; You can't find this kind of style of dress anymore, not for the price we're offering" The cashier behind the counter tells you, her "Coke-Bottle" glasses and general style of dress suggesting that she's the type of gal that might make a snide comment on her blog about what you're saying to her after you leave.

"But that's just..." You reply, looking down at the dress as you start to pull out your wallet...

>A. Plunk the cash down for this thing, then hit up some more "Cheap & Cheerful" kind of places for clothes.

>B. Refuse to buy the dress and walk out, asking Mai & King if there are any kind of stores that sell stuff that have a more "Earthy" kind of tone to them.

>C. Haggle with the Cashier to see if she goes any lower on the price, as you don't know if you can cover your purchase in cash today (And MIGHT have left your chequebook at home... Or not; You might just say that to get her to bend a little) (Roll 3d100 for Diplomacy, Intimidation & Luck) (A 50 "Passes" the check and gets you the dress at a small discount, a 75-99 Gets you the dress at a deep discount and a "Nat 100" will score you the dress for free... However, anything below 50 won't budge the clerk, while a 1 will get you kicked out of the store...)[/spoiler[

>D. Ask Mai & King to drop you off at "The Imperial"; You've shot your budget you had planned on this today...

You hold your right hand in your pants pocket, clutching your wallet tightly and asking "Really now? 300 dollahs for somethin' like this... Seems a bit much, yeah?"

"Ma'am, if you don't like the dress, don't make the purchase; I don't barter with customers" the lady clerk tells you, though Mai rushes to your defense.

"Honestly, the quality of the stitching isn't all that great... Should you REALLY charge that much for this dress? It's highway robbery!"

"Yeah, C'mon, you could sway me if it were more around, like, $200 or $225" you chipp in, though the cashier isn't seemingly budging.

"ABSOLUTELY Not!" she fires back, starting to get a little mad at you for a second, then sighs and whispers "... $290. I've got to make a living somehow now."

"Really? You could do better than that! How about $275?"

"$280 and call it done?" Mai adds, though once again the cashier shoots er down.

"Miss, I'm going to have you to ask you step back for a second; You're bothering my customers" the cashier barks, then turns to you and shakes her head "No".

"Pleeease? I REALLY like this dress, but I just can't justify how much it costs... Make $250 and I won't bother you like this again?" you offer, pressing your luck a little but seemingly going for the only opportunity for getting this dress.

The cashier looks at you, then sighs as she concedes "FINE! You can have it for $250... But if you come back into my shop again and try to drive the price down? I'll call the cops and tell'em that you were trying to steal from me."

"Deal" you tell her, holding out your wallent and grabbing your checquebook, only for the

"Sorry, we don't take personal checks or Credit Cards; Cash only" she mutters, clearly wanting you to leave with the tacky-looking (In her mind, anyway!) piece of clothing as soon as you can.

You wordlessly nod and grab your cash... Only to come up about $10 short. "Sunnofa" you mutter, then turn to Mai to ask her to chip in, but she already catches what's going on and puts the remainder down for you.

"... Thanks" you say to her, your words almost escaping your lips as she turns and puts a hand on your shoulder.

"I've acted like a complete bitch around you since we met... Just say that's a little gift from me, OK?" Mai admits as you wonder if you were wrong to think of her as a horny, drink-obsessed piece of eye-candy that was only tolerable in short bursts as you grab your check-out bag, your dress inside in a box in the bag as King walks over.

"What's the hold-up?" she asks, a look of concern on her face as the three of you head out back to Mai's car.

"Nothin', just a few tag issues; Turns out this thing was $50 cheaper than it was listed as" you fib, Mai smirking as the three of you clamber inside and get your seatbelts back on, Mai firing up the car and turning a little in the driver's seat to face you.

"So, do you want to go somewhere else and see if there's a cheaper option, or ar you good for today?" she asks, letting the engine warm up a little.

You shrug and say "Sure... I'd like to find something else, but if not, then it's no skin off my nose."

She nods as King checks the time, telling the two of you "Well, I've got about an hour before I NEED to head back and start making preparations for tonight... Where do you want to go?"

You pause at that question, thinking it over for a second before asking "Is there like, a back-packer's place around 'ere?"

"What, like a surplus store for the military?" Mai asks, trying to hide the surprise in her voice and not exactly doing a great job of it.

"Maybe... But I was just thinkin', you know, the kind of place you go if you wanted to get that "Great Outdoors" kinda feelin' to your wears... But a REAL store, not that 'Urban Outfitters" shit" you reply, trying to get your idea across.
>>
>>30402259

"I don't now either... I heard about a place near my bar that stocks stuff like that, but they're also a depot for every crack-pot "Private Security Force" this city has; i wouldn't be caught DEAD in a placelike that" King says, her last sentence harking back to her days when she used to be a full-time bouncer at several restraunts and bars, having to take care of and kick out some of the lowest forms of life South Town had for it's populace...

"Oh yeah, i heard about that place; Some "Private Contractor" bought it and set up shop" Mai replies, adding "I think it was in yesterday's paper..."

"I'dunno, I wouldn't mind at least checkin' the place out" you tell them, wondering "What's the worst thingthat could happen?" and start to let your mind race a little as Mai puts the car in Gear and drives out into the street, reeling your imagination back in a little bit.

"Well, I would'nt mind stopping there, but I'm not going in with you" King freely confesses, adding "I'm not one to look at guns anyway."

"Yeah... I think you're on your own if you want to go inside andcheck it out for yourself" Mai admits as you wonder how such physically powerful women could be afraid of a simple little shop? Even if it was under the care of a "Contracto" group?

"I still want to check it out for a little bit" you tell them, King sighing and Mai more-or-less taking a shrug as she hops the car all three of you are in back onto the expressway that leads back to the "La Illusion".

"But neither of you have to go in with me if you don't want to; I can probably handle myself" you add, Lazily stetching out in the back seat and wondering what you should do for lunch...? As well as what kind of place this shop REALLY is, of course...

>End Updates

I'd like to thank all of y'all out there for sticking with this Quest for so long and participating today; I know I'm not the best QM out there, but I'm learning something everyday I do this... Or rather, what NOT to do in some cases...

As it stands though, I need a break to recharge my creative energy and recuperate some lost sleep; As a result, I'm putting the start of The King of Fighter's Quest Round 18 on ice until 2/23/14 at the earliest, possibly holding off until the 24th of this month if certain events I want to go to come to fruition...

Basically:

If what I want to do falls through on 2/23, the next Round will start at 9 AM PST, Noon EST on that date.

If I DO end up getting the chance to get to do what I want to do (IE A Magi: The Gathering Tournament that's out of town), the next thread will start up at 9 AM PST, Noon EST on 2/24.

As always, I'll post on my oft-neglected Twitter Feed throughout the weekend as well as in the "Quest Thread Generals" (If possible) for future updates and in case plans change... Until then, So long!
