My people, to me! It is now the Sacred Time, and we tell the history of our people in keeping with the old tradition. In the last two years, Clan Fimbulvetr married the daughter of their glorious chief-king to a member of the Blue Spruces, and saw horses defiled by the Lonisi. The clan punished the offenders at a moot of law, sparking a feud that was settled by handing Lonisi Vingan raiders the key to the stead where they keep the inferior goods. The Jenestni tried to call for peace, but negotiations broke down, ensuring that the mutual hate and one sided raids continued. Onelisin failed Humakt the Champion to protest the continuation of her term on the clan ring, bringing divine disfavor on her head but finding a treasure for the clan. Then some of our people came to us saying that the clan was too large. In recognition of this, we asked for volunteers to leave and form a new clan: the Orlundi. They remain a member of our tribe.
Typical harvest, with few children. I like this omen.
Good night sweet Kentvent. You weren't Orstalor, but we never needed you to be.
Into Sea season we go. Unless someone has a better idea, I'm going to spend a favor to get some food and send a trading party to the ducks to trade for food.>>30220030Forgot to add: At the end of the year the clan received tidings that the Horse-Spawn have a new ruler, the Feathered Horse Queen.
I peaked at our nobles and we've received an Uroxi. This is almost as rare as getting a Trickster mid-game. Very mediocre stat line means he's not really a superior ring candidate, but it's cool to have this guy.
We'll hit up the Elkenval for the favor they owe, they're in the Colymar tribe and if war breaks out who knows if we'll ever get anything from them.
Those fuckers in the Greydogs poisoned the wine again. It's Sea season so we can't raid them. What do we do about the wine? About the Greydogs?
>>30220408Pic. Pick from demand compensation, pour out the wine, sacrifice or call the exorcist shamans.
>>30220430Demand compensation. In scalps.
>>30220705Doesn't look like an option. We can demand cows, food or cash.
How much food? Max 90.It's worth noting, since these guys hate us we're not likely to get anything out of them.
>>30220827ALL OF IT
>>30220891Looks like we'll just have to go get it ourselves
Sea 2. Any problems with buying food from the ducks? I'll do it if there's no other suggestion.
Sending off a trader.Wait, something's missing...
In the meantime, the favor party arrives at the Elkenvali tula. How much food do we ask for?
Wow. Some Orlanthi. Can't remember the last time a clan didn't pay off a favor.
Here's another critical path event. Our ancestors have come to offer us their blessing in kingdom making (suck it Sartar, we're years ahead of you).Despite what I've highlighted here, Elusu's Leadership, Combat and Magic stats are maxed out. Pick any blessing but 4 or 5.
Whoops, here's the full text version.
>>302212541. Food is great, food is good.
>>30221254Go for the magic! More magic, fewer problems.
Rolled 2Let's ask Eurmal. When has that ever backfired?1=cattle2=magic
Rolled 2Seven extra points of magic. Not bad, that's the average heroquest.
All things considered, not a bad trade.
Fire season. Seems that the farmers' mood is slipping, probably because of the wine incident. Any objections to building them houses made out of goods so they can't complain?
Orstalor died? When? Why?Oh shit, it's been quite a long time since I saw those threads for the last time.>>30221558Sure, we have lots of them anyway. And we will probably get some more from Greydogs one our season hits.
Gifting triage go.>>30221610Orstalor died two threads ago. Four years in game time.
Iron Chef Glorantha has just started. Do we judge, make it a party, get our asses beat in the contest or use magic to win?
>>30221706Aw shit, I'm gonna mourn him now.>>30221739Mood is okay, so let's go with judging food.
The Elkenval won, but politics suggests we could choose a different winner to sore some points. Also wait, the Elkenval said they didn't have food to spare. And yet they're sponsoring a cooking contest.>>30221755Someone made a nice tribute pic, I'll find it in my KoDP folder and post it at the end. Alas poor Kentvent, joining his funny man so soon.
>>30221739Offer to judge, it's the one chance we get to improve relations while receiving gifts instead of giving them.
>>30221856Oh, there were two more clans in the running, the Orlundi and the Tree Brothers. The Orlundi is one of our splinter clans, the one that isn't made of jerks.
>>30221856How our relations with them look?
>>30220286Hot damn, get that kid on the ring posthaste. Uroxi are the best.
>>30221915They're the only clan that isn't a member of our tribe. I think we're on decent terms, pure purple.>>30221929I haven't had one long enough to get their events. I know they're great at smashing, but what in particular makes them great?
>>30221971Then let us be fair and say that they won.
Everyone agreed that they deserved to win.
>>30221971>what in particular makes them great? They get useful and sometimes hilarous ways of dealing with Chaos events. Also Urox smash everything.
Fire 2. I'm thinking we should perform Ernalda, I don't like where our food stocks are. Any objections? Also, the Horse-Spawn aren't attacking us anymore. We've established somewhat cordial relations, and the Horse-Queen is a much better ruler than the old king.>>30222154Smashing is good. We need to rearrange the clan ring anyway.
>>30222235Is there another less lethal way to increase foodstocks, like trading with the Cabbage Ducks? Or was the harvest this year that bad?And whatever happened to those superbabies in that one yearly reading?
>>30222330The amount you get from a trade caps at 40, from what I've seen so far. It's not awful if you don't have 1K+ people like we do. Harvest should be okay, but I like having a permanent two year food margin between my clan and starvation.Superbabies... no clue. I think the omen is borked somehow, but I seem to recall that we got Elusu pretty close to the first one.
>>30222235Let's feed the tribe, not like we have much to do anyway.Bet we have trade routes maxed out?
Earth season should look pretty good.>>30222779I just checked, seems we have space for one more.
More pointless threats from Cragspider. I love game bugs.
Earth season. That's a nice food bump.Looks like we want to establish a trade route, anything else? I'll send an exploration team if not.
>>30222943Then let's set up another one.
>>30223071More trading! Goods for the goods god!
I'm being called away, I should be back in 15 minutes or so. Here's the map, while I'm out decide who we're trading with, and where we're exploring. We've yet to trigger events in Prax, the Stinking Forest, Dwarf Valley (against all reason) and I believe Snakepipe Hollow
>>30223139Should try to see if we can trigger Dorf Valley again. The Brass Man event is necessary for the best endgame ending, isn't it?
>>30223233It is, but you don't need to have met the dwarves to trigger it.Any thoughts on trading partners?
>>30223659Hmm. Do we have a trade route with the Old Owl Clan yet? I kinda want to open trading routes with the tribes in the Colymar Clan, but I'm not sure if that'd be wise given their recent rash of hostility towards us.
>>30223774Looking at the map it seems we don't have a trade agreement with the Old Owls. Let's set one up.Oh, and I'm sending all but one of our weaponthanes along so we can hire a bunch of extras.
Here's us hiring nine more thanes.
Trade route set.Wait, aren't the Owls the cattle clan? We're richer than the cattle clan.
We may owe the Lonisi an apology. Someone's killed and shat upon our horses.Again.Divine and prepare for revengeance in Dark season?
>>30224102Sounds good. Let's see who it is. If the ancestors say the Lonisi again...well, hrm.
>>30224102Sure, why not.Divine that shit. Perhaps give some gifts to the Lonisi afterwards.
>>30224102Divination. Did the divination turn up the Lonisi last time and it turned out not to be them?
>>30224169That's a likely scenario.
Moral of the story: Elusu is wise and good, and the ancestors can make mistakes too. We're going to destroy the Greydogs.>>30224169Correct.
What do we do now? Pick any of these but attack, we've got one more harvest to get in. But soooooon...
>>30224284Sacrifice for protection.Put Greydogs on shit list status.
>>30224284Either lodge a legal claim or sacrifice for future protection; the Greydogs shall get theirs in Dark.
We shouldn't see this event for a while.
It's open season on the Greydogs.
Our weaponthanes could probably do this on their own.I'm actually a bit pressed for time, so I'll be quickly resolving the Combat events for this year. Hope no one minds too much.
>>30224406So when you said destroy, do you mean the actual destroy them so much that not even memories of them remain, or just beat the shit out of them?
The "enemy warrior who killed someone's family" event goes off. Hindala kills the killer dead.>>30224468...Both?
>>30224499That's an answer I can get behind!
Yes, good.Now do it again.
But first there's an infestation of bandits to clear out of our tribal region. Shall we make peac pffft no.Do we make threats, take care of the problem directly, or call on the gods?
>>30224563Either take care of it directly, or call on Issaries, I think.
>>30224563Sacrifice to Issaries. Although #3 does sound like an interesting option.
We're making that Issaries sacrifice. 28 goods is our contribution.Do we ask the other clans to aid us?
>>30224697I don't see why not; they're hitting all of us.
The North is safe, no idea about the West or South though.
>>30224697>Do you figure out a solution on your own, or ask the gods to do your job for you? What a fantastic king we have.
And again we sweep down on the Greydogs like the storm that lends us our name.>>30224837I just checked, tribal morale is higher than it's ever been.
>>30224885Aren't we still trying to kill them? I thought these were punitive raids, not for plunder.
Hengall has the usual choice of "Don't be a hero, fight bravely and take insane risks".Unusually, fighting bravely fails.>>30224908I actually did go to kill as many as possible (and put a point of magic in), I just took the picture before making the changes.
>>30225026>going into battle half sick and not telling anyoneDamnit, Hengall, you're a loose cannon!
Sorry for the delay, spent a full minute laughing at the outcome. Notice the casualties on our side? The lack of any healing notification? And that we lost the event? Imagine if we'd won it.
It's now Storm season. We have the chance to do some exploring, but the Jenestni haven't been raided this year. Any preferences?
>>30225254Let's explore; too many raids in a year and we're going to start losing farmer morale.
>>30224885>Facing 8 weaponthanes and 74 swordsmen>>30225184>3 weaponthanes killed, 7 wounded, 39 footmen killed, 99 woundedIt's starting, we've reached the point where we cause more casualties then they fought us with.
>>30225184Aww I wish I had come to this thread earlier. As someone looking to run the Colymar campaign all I can say if FUCK THE GREYDOGS!Also fuck Killer Branduin.
A random check of our clan nobles shows me this; Kentvent's seat on the outer ring has been taken by another Lhankor Mhy worshiper. Nice bit of synergy, that.>>30225302...Huh, I didn't notice that. Might be a mistake on my end, if I accidentally renamed and uploaded a picture from another playthrough. I'm feuding with another Greydog clan in one.>>30225393Sounds like you've got a story to tell.
Time for explorations then? Shall we explore Prax or Dwarf Valley, or perhaps the dangerous Stinking Forest or Snakepipe Hollow? Come to think of it, we haven't been to the Dragonnewt Wilds in a long time.
>>30225426>Sounds like you've got a story to tell.No I just want to run the campaign. But the gist of it is you are a group of good Orlanthi in the best Orlanthi clan. How do you know it is the best? It is yours.Anyway, one player is tasked my Orlanth himself to marry this sweet ass Ernalda priestess (Ernalsilva). She is also fated to marry a hero so Orlanth is all like "You, bitch, turning you into a hero, act like one."Then Killer Branduin (from your rival clan across the Starfire Ridge) is all whiny bitch mode about how he was supposed to be the hero that marries Ernalsilva.I don't want to go into spoilers in case anyone here wants to play the campaign (if no one does let me know and I will give some examples). But he being a petty bitch can be a big problem to the players.
>>30225498>Exploring Snakepipe Hollow>EverMarch into Pavis. Get some buffalo burgers. Why is Pavis is too farI vote Prax, one of my favorite Glorantha areas.
Prax it is. I hear ostrich burgers are tasty.>>30225519Sounds like potential for a fun campaign. Really need to bump up my stock of Glorantha material, if only I had the money.>>30225571We've done it twice with no losses. Got some bitching treasures out of it too.
>>30225571I don't know what location contains what, so I second this.
We used to be a clan of 600 able-bodied farmers, now we're down to just under 500. We might reduce field size though.>>30225655Prax is the desert area where people ride ostriches. It's really awesome.
The Anmangarn? Damn them.
>>30225692Have our people been dying recently, or is that just a consequence of the split?
>>30225727Fucking warrior fiat clan.If it weren't for the game saying that they were the "fierce warrior" clan, then we'd be mopping up every battle with them.
When Hindala fights bravely, it wrecks enemy attacks.>>30225748Roughly a fourth of our people split off to form the Orlundi clan, some two to three hundred.
>>30225655Snakepipe Hollow was a stretch of land that was tainted by Chaos during the Gods Time (I think, though ironically the Gods Time was before time became a thing). It was sunk and is now a vast network of caves and tunnels filled with some crazy strong chaos. The titular Snake Pipe was an artifact lost in an old temple there. There are other magic items and such scattered about as well.Prax is a desert land (though the natives don't think it barren like the Vulture Barrens) that was once lush but during the Gods War (during Gods Time) chaos ransacked it. Urox, the Storm Bull, actually trapped the Devil (Wakoboth or something, I can never spell it right) under a huge stone The Block. It is still there. The Praxans were lost and taught to survive by Waha. Waha then paired off men with various groups of animals and held contests to see who would eat from the land and who would eat from the animal. Humans won all but one of these contests (Morokanth won theirs. Humans say they cheated and the Morokanth say humans were cheating too, just not as well). Tribes are defined by their animals. Some of the major ones are Sable (Antelope), High Lama, Rhino, and more I can't remember off the top of my head. One thing they all have in common is that horses are unclean.
>>30225727A clan we're feuding with that hasn't been ground into dust? Is this a new feud?
Absolutely beautiful. Just look at those numbers. Wish some of those thanes had bought the farm on our farms.>>30225840We're not feuding with them anymore. Clans that you're on neutral to poor terms will attack periodically, their numbers and frequency increasing the more they hate you.
The trolls attack, again with tiny numbers.
Onelisin is sneak attacked and doesn't have a weapon. Renowned Combat, Excellent Magic.
>>30225926Our numbers aren't that good either, what happened to our patrols?
>>30225966Trollkin mean nothing. Every 100 is equal to half a duck.
>>30225956Fight using magic.
Thrice cursed necromancers.>>30225966It's probably the woodlands and random chance. Having a lot of woodlands mean people can sneak past patrols. Patrols might have reset when I sent them off so I could hire the extra thanes.
>>30225980I'm not scared of the trollkin, I'm just wondering why we pulled such a small levy.
We win anyway, decisively.
Odaylans want to run an Odayla heroquest, and want our help. This bit surprised me, I thought we were close to the Gorinds?
>>302261222 or 5.
>>30226122Shit, Onelisin being wounded is going to screw up sacred time, isn't it? Give these beggars some magic.
>>30226122Oh and I forgot to ask, when is the last time we did a Heroquest?
>>30226202Is that the Movement rune for Onelisin? What god is that in this game? I always thought of Orlanth for the movement rune, but his worshipers are depicted by the air rune in this game, right?
We're sending people, because 4chan just updated to show me that we had a second vote for that after I selected it in game. Whoops. How many people do we send?>>30226204Just this year, Ernalda Feeds the Tribe.>>30226251Vinga, appropriately enough. And yes, I believe so.
>>30226251Onelisin is a Vingan. That's the goddess of lesbian warrior women. Orlanth's rune is like a spiral.
>>302262800 worshippers. We're sending magic. But I know it's too late, so send 100. I think peasants help in Sacred Time too, so we need them here.
>>30226298>>30226280That is a woman!?>Earlier read that "Vinga would be proud"Well I feel dumb. And yes, the spiral is the air rune. Though technically Orlanth can also be approached by the movement rune (vinga's rune) or mastery rune (the one that denotes a Dar and looks likea W but squared). And I think he also has an aspect that uses the water rune, cannot remember.
>>30226280>>30226370100 sounds about right.Hope the game doesn't interpret "followers" as "magic", like it did one time.
Way to go you hind loving morons, get 16 of our people killed and fuck up everyone's hunting for the foreseeable future.Infuriatingly, giving magic might have avoided this.>>30226383The game has a basic outline of the Runes. I'll find the cap I took of it and post in a bit.And yes, Onelisin is a woman. This portrait is almost an improvement. First one was almost cute.
>>30226425Actually, I think that's exactly how it works, at least in the event where the choices are between "a few" worshippers, "the customary amount" and "many" instead of actually picking the amount.
>>30226460>our own huntersThat reminds me, do we need to scale our hunters back because they're taking up valuable farming labour? A screen higher up says we have 26.
Storm 2. I'm going to take the initiative and decrease our hunters from 24 to 10.
And that's the year.Is there any interest in continuing? I'm a bit tired but I'd be up to taking a shot at finishing two years. Otherwise we take this up again tomorrow around 4p board time.
>>30226604I'd be interested but dude, if you've gotta sleep, sleep.
I'm also interested.
>>30226604If you think you can make another year, it depends on how much happens, I guess.
>>30226604I am up for another year. This is the closest I can get to a real Glorantha thread on /tg/.
>>30226661>>30226737>>30226764Wrong time for me to be sleeping. I'll have to expedite a bit, but I'll run another year. Give me a moment and we'll press on.Here's the Gloranthan runic primer. Anyone care to explain the origins of some of these? Let's start with Death.
>>30226839Death rune represents Humakt's sword, which is itself called Death, right?
>>30226839Death looks like a sword because that is how Death came to be. Humakt discovered Death and Orlanth was all like "Yo, can I borrow this for a minute bro?" Humakt was all like "Sure, brah. Anything for my homez."Orlanth then went to The Bright Emperor (Yelm) and was all like "Yo nikka. I know you bested me thrice but let us have another weapon challenge!" Yelm was all "Shit hommie, why you trippin in des halls? Alright challenge accepted."Yelm then drew his bow and shot like a hundred busses or some shit. Orlanth was all like "Alright bitch, my turn. SMACK!" and slew Yelm with the sword.Orlanth then pulled up to Yelm's sweet honey Ernalda and was all "Hey gurl. I just did the impossible, jump on dis dick." Ernalda was like "uuuuuuuhm.... OKAY!"Then Humakt got his sword back and was like "This shit is wack. I denounce my family I must only serve death."Then Orlanth was all "Dude, holmes, I miss thee. Join my ring not as my bro, but as one bad ass mutha fucka, bro."Humakt then joined Orlanth's ring. And, ducklings, is why Humakt wears a fake bill instead of being a true duck like the other gods.
>>30226919I went into a bit more detail. >>30226985. But yes it is called that.
Normal harvest and... a call to explore Kerofinela? Interesting.>>30226985I fucking laughed. The one only thing you missed is that in some stories Eurmal the Death weapon, and Humakt took it from Eurmal after Grandfather Mortal was killed with it.Any other runes with cool stories?
What the hell, we've even got Pathfinder active.
Now that's a useful treasure. We have advance warning of undead movement, how do we deal with the threat?
>>30227108>Completely forgot about Grandfather DeathFuck me not literally.Sorry but I don't know any stories of the runes other than Death. I know some more mythology stuff, but not about why runes are how they are.
>>30227156Sacrifice to Humakt and recode the game to bring some ducks over. They know how to deal with unlife creatures.
>>30227129>Died going to PraxGood thing we didn't go to snakepipe hollow or we would have more broos running around.
We offer Humakt 10 cows.>>30227179Talk myths anyway, makes for good reading and background.
It's now Sea season. I said I was going to play with the field sliders, so I'll do that.
I'm pretty sure Leika is out of her mind, these sheep need way more than that.
>>30227270Shit uh.. Any in particular you want to hear? I think Humakt might be the best I know.I can tell what I know about Waha and Prax but I already said most of that earlier.I can touch on the Lightbringer's Quest.I can touch on Ernalda's death.I.. I don't know as much mythology as I claimed. I just remember bits and pieces.
No event, so it's straight to Sea 2. Anything we want to explore? Maybe we should curse someone, Maran Gor hasn't blasted recently.>>30227387Tell whatever you like. I posted the Lightbringer's Quest in another thread (http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/29193473), so I'd be interested in hearing about Ernalda's death.
For a moment I didn't realize what this screen was showing me. But after an entire game of NOT having one, we finally have a Healer, a worshiper of Chalana Arroy. Feels very good.If no one has any objections, I'm going to start blasting Jenestni fields.
>>30227447>Anything we want to explore?Well we are supposed to go to Kero Fin.>I'd be interested in hearing about Ernalda's death.I don't know it that well. It have read it in the Colymar campaign. It is told as a way for the protags to Heroquest to the underworld. Basically Ernalda was killed by Chaos and drifted down to the underworld. While there she got fed up with the darkness bullshit and was like "Orlanth! Come apologize to Yelm right now and make everything better!" And that is why Orlanth initiated the Lightbringer Quest.
>>30227513OBJECTION! She's ugly. Send her to Cragspider! Is her bargaining better than our Issariite? If so, maybe we have to replace her.
This really doesn't ever get old.>>30227636It's the eyes more than anything. And the Issarite has an equal Bargaining, as well as a class bonus.
Hey, we got a dwarf event. Want to treasure trade? Report the dwarves to their tyrannical leader?
>>30227745>Their chief is SarotarHuh, that name almost sounds like it would make a good name for the King of Dragon Pass. Too bad that title's going to Elusu.
>>30227819Holy shit. Heretical dwarves. What treasures do they have?Remember that Wrath was made by the dwarves originally.
>>30227513We'll need to buff her up somehow so she can safely pass through Chalana Arroy Heals The Scars.
I'm not sure why selecting treasure trade led to a screen with Combat as the default qualifier, but I'm no longer quite as secure as I was in this choice of action. It's worth noting that Elusu has Renowned Bargaining.>>30227876We've already completed that one, Elusu was our quester.
>>30227819Trade with them, maybe we can get some opal encrusted microcline mugs.
Sorry, got distracted. Here's Elusu, how many people do we send alone? 5 thanes, 10 warriors sound right?
>>30227909>CombatDwarves must be hard core traders. Also, this is how the different classes of Mostali look now.I have never actually encountered a Gloranthan dwarf.
>>30228012Always need someone to carry the luggage.
>>30228054They pretty much all look terrifying. I think we're dealing with top left or bottom right.
>>30228129If we are trading with them then I believe they would be bottom left. The gold caste.
We're going to trade the Captured Spirit, since we've seen that event pop up more than a few times.
>>30228173I'm cool with that. I am not going to read through all the old threads though and I have not seen that event. What does it do?
>>30228225Some random asshole is fucking some random forest fairy so we send some shamans to go trap it in a wooden box
How interesting. We scored the Magnet of Mostal, which prevents both the really good and really bad events. If we want to see both, we can trade it temporarily to another clan.>>30228225Makes sacrifices more likely to succeed. Given that we put magic into mysteries, it's not an issue for us.
>>30228262well thats lame i want more FUN
>>30228285Fuck that. Trade it for the bull of big balls. Get more cows.
Fire season. We'll trade the Magnet to a nearby clan. How about the Lonisi? After that, we'll send a party to explore Kero Fin.
>>30228361>over 500 babiesWhy is Fimbulvetr sperm so potent?
>>30228361Do we know of anyone having the awesome bull?
Selling the magnet.
>>30228427We ran out of water and have been subsisting on Powerthirst ever since.
Looks like you still have to officially set up the trade. Here it goes.>>30228445We started with it, then I managed to error it out of the game.
This is like the tenth time we've done this, and they still haven't figured it out.
>>30228525To Kero Fin!
>>30228525Is there an option to taunt them saying we're the ones that blasted their earth, we'll do it again, and there's nothing they can do about it? This game is lacking in options sometimes.
>>30228361having a thousand strong clan is less impressive when half of your people are crotchgoblins.
Looks like they got lucky in who they raided.>>30228577Most games don't have an option to gloat at the AI. You need to be playing a Civ game in multiplayer to do that.>>30228587I have no idea how they managed to grow like that.
>>30228587But in just 12 short years, we'll have a clan that's 2000 strong! (and 1000 crotchgoblins)
I admit confusion.
>>30228605Gives me an idea. Civilization: Glorantha.
>>30228626>made off with 7 horsesFuck, they're just going to shit in them anyway!
And now the Greydogs.>>30228634Fund it.
All right, someone's fucking with us.I say we sacrifice to Humakt in Earth and attack both clans in Dark.
>>30228634Some guy did a full conversion Glorantha mod for either civ2 or civ3it even has the crimson bat
>>30228626They had men run into our spears to distract us from petty horse theft.
We have to learn Battle Luck first of course.
>>30228704>>30228650Don't know if it actually works.http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/comments/126590728
>>30228704I guess you could pass the idea for the KoDP devs and then either kickstart it or beg Paradox for money.
Randella arrives at the Lonisi tula. We trade the Magnet for a Spirit Fetch.
>>30228687Maybe our horses are just running away and enemy clans are just showing up to take credit.
Those clever sons of bitches cattle raided us while talking trade. We're going to boost patrols, in the short term what do we do about this? Keep in mind, the Lonisi are members of our tribe.
>>30228809Can the return raid be a cattle raid of our own, or would it be a full raid? Cattle raiding between tribemates isn't anything to get murderously angry over.
>>30228809They just wanted to challenge us to an Orlanthi football match, no need to be sore losers about it. At worst we should ask them nicely to stop. Better not to escalate.
>>30228809I'm leaning toward "threaten to break your metaphorical dick off in their collective ass". Too bad "curse them shits publicly" isn't an option.
We send Elusu and his five ugliest friends to "talk" with the Lonisi. The Lonisi admitted they had just borrowed the cows to paint them and gave them back.>>30228860It would be a full raid.
>>30228935Yeah, that was a good choice. We don't need to start actual raiding in response to Orlanthi football, it weren't like they were the last cows in our herd.
A party heads off to Kero Fin.
>>30228974You should start Boldhome.
Well, this happened. The Red Moon has been scarred. Glorantha experts, care to explain? In the meantime, what should our clan do about this omen?
>>30229022As I remember it, basically the Lunar Goddess pissed off an actual Gloranthan Dragon and it clawed a fucking chunk out of her.
>>30229022Lorebeard here, sacrifice to Urox. This is very bad Chaos.>>30228704 was very stupid and mentioned the Bat, and now it has come.
>>30229022I've never seen this event before; I say we sacrifice to our good buddy Urox for this one.
>>30229022If only we had the Uroxi on our ring, I bet this is the sort of event he'd be useful for. Launch a raid on the moon, enlist the aid of the Kerbals. Failing that, ask the ancestors what's going on and what troubles we should expect to face.
Small bit of lore, this is what the gods show us is happening.
>>30229107Are the Lunars still fighting Pent (or whoever it was that worships Yelm) at this time?
We sacrifice for Battle Luck for the upcoming season.
That didn't last long.>>30229128The Pentan occupation is just about to start actually.
I am getting sick of Vingan mercenaries.Anyway, Graydogs hired mercs. Still Earth season, we'll make the Greydogs sick in just a little bit more time. What do we do about this? Hiring mercs of our own has a certain appeal.
>>30229251We can afford to pay more mercenaries than they did, can't we? Can we manage half again as many as they sent?
They want 5 cows each. 75 cows to make the Greydogs squirm? Cheap at the price.
>>30229251Yep, mercenaries seem to be the only war to delay vengeance without actually doing nothing, which feels shameful.
It worked better than could be anticipated.
>>30229370So. Did you get this game into a worthwhile windowed mode? If so, how?
Accidentally closed the browser. It's Dark season, meaning raiding time. I'll let you choose whether we attack the Greydogs or the Jenestni. Both are equally deserving, who do we hate more? Who's in a weaker position?>>30229436Create a new shortcut, go to properties and add -w to the target window. For me it looks like "G:\GOG\King of Dragon Pass\KoDP.exe" -w
>>30229518Question is, who's closer? Don't want to get driven back by blizzards.
>>30229518The problem with that is the game is not resizeable but the frame around it is which is odd.
>>30229518The mercenaries were sent to allow us to DELAY our personal vengeance, not to replace it. We're still killing the Greydogs.
>>30229518Grey Dogs. They shit in our horses, and therefore effectively shat on Elmal. Time for them to die.
>>30229561You have a very persuasive argument. Greydogs it is.>>30229550Yeah, I crop the image in paint. The tall window is annoying, but it's the only solution that works, and the alternative is fullscreen. We're starting with stead burning, we want to a point.
>>30229615Wait, we're outnumbered? Why did we send so few?
Onelisin gets a vengeance event, and wins handily.>>30229628Our weaponthanes fight like ten men, their fight like 5. We outnumber them.
No injured or dead. That's good work.Oh, and we burned 4 steads before Onelisin's event.
Orlanth sent us to Kero Fin to find music instruments? What, does he expect us to form a band?Come to think of it, you could do some funny Blues Brothers style adventures in Glorantha.
Enothea does her thing, and she does it well.
>>30229798She looks pissed.
We do pretty well ourselves.>>30229814She's an Odaylan. Nobody likes them since Hunting is useless.
>>30229762Yo dawg Orlanth has always had mad beats. He totally released them once in Yelm's palace but those old phoneys couldn't tell what was hip and judged Yelm's shit music the winner.
>>30229693What is the mechanical consequence of having your steads burnt? Does the AI ever do it to the player? If so, what happens? Do you end up with homeless in your clan?
>>30229826just great,a clan of murderhobos.
>>30229865Orlanthi do not murder! We kill people openly in duels so that their families can seek wergild.
>>30229762Are these a treasure? If so, what does it do? Are we able to destroy our enemies with rock? Or at least, fertilize our crops with smooth jazz?
Dark 2. Who are we hitting, Greydogs or Jenestni?>>30229822Complete with mic drop?>>30229826When the AI does it, burning steads destroys goods and cosmetically reduces the number of buildings on your tula screen during Sacred Time.>>30229865There's always a few buildings standing, I think, so you're never hobos, per se.>>30229919Not a treasure, unfortunately. Speaking of , I just found out we do have a duplicate Tiger Eye Necklace we could have traded. Ah well, at least the spirit has a reasonable chance of reoccurring.
>>30229960>Complete with mic drop? This is Orlanth, the SWAGest of gods. What do you think?
>>30229960I feel Elmal Horse-Friend has been adequately avenged. Let's spread our love to the Jenestni who have been sorely missing. I forget why we're mad at them, but surely that's irrelevant.
>>30230029At this point, much like a real circle of violence there's no longer any reason to be attacking them except it's tradition. And we're winning.>>30229976I think we're all less for not having been there to see it live.
>>30229798>Enothea... beat off the dark trolls until they were afraid to go near her.
Glorious leader leads us to victory with magic.>>30230056Low hanging fruit, I think.
>>30230085It's been a long season for me.
That's nice. The Jenestni will be warm... tonight.
Wounded Storm Bull, hurt fighting Chaos. What do we do about him?
>>30230134Since we're raiding in Dark, our enemies might actually appreciate a nice, big fire. We should burn their steads in Fire season, much more appropriate. And I guess, in Dark, we can blind them or something.
>>30230172Give him all the ale and women and keep soap away from him. He fights broos so he should feel comfortable.
>>30230172>Tend wounds, increase patrolsIt's only polite really, right?
>>30230172Remember the scars on the moon? Chaos isn't fucking around. Heal him and give him some warriors.
>>30230048We must uphold the tradition of our fathers and grandfathers of raiding Jenestri! Otherwise our children will grow fat and weak and beset by deeabeetus!
>>30230205SpoilersScars on the moon were from a hero who will die fighting the Lunars but be resurrected in the Hero Wars. He will then over throw the Lunar Empire and erect the Shadow Lunar Empire. I do not know what that entails.
>>30230172Tend wounds, increase patrols. If he got hurt on our land, something got past us.
>>30230172>Let him stay as long as he wants.Sounds like a plot hook to me.
Moving up from 4 and 5 to 7 and 7. No matter how many people we have on patrol, our thanes are more like Rangers than anything else, there's just too much land.Yes, that's possible.
>>30230172>No one else wants to fight chaosBaby modes. All of you.
Seems that solution met his standards.
It's now Storm season. Give me one action (explore or sacrifice), and then we'll run a heroquest. Maybe Orlanth again, get Onelisin's replacement up to speed.
>>30230313>Explore or Sacrifice>No feast optionAre we missing any bitchin mysteries? Perhaps we should snackrifice for that.
>>30230313>2014>No Trickster on the ring>I shiggy diggy
>>30230331Come to think of it, feasting is also a good option. Want to do that? We're down a few good rituals, but nothing we can't live without.
>>30230353Yeah, let's party like good Orlanthi.
>>30230273>jump in the thread>see number of thanes availableBy Orlanth! How small is our tula?>>30230313Ah, nevermind. Not knowing much about the history of this game, I will say explore.
>>30230352Wow, way to rub it in. We've been feeding nobles to Cragspider for years to get another Trickster, but there will never be a real replacement for Orstalor.>>30230378I sent all of our thanes away to get the chance to hire more. We'll be feasting momentarily, then heroquesting.
>>30230352No trickster in the outer ring either. No trickster alive in the clan. Sucks, but what can we do? We can't just get an Odaylan or something to convert to a more useful god.>>30230313Is Onelisin's replacement the Uroxi? His stats are poor, but he should be able to help against the chaos events.
>>30230420>We'll be feasting momentarily, then heroquesting.Cool. I want to heroquest but I am falling asleep here.
>>30230420Orstalor the true trickster.
For what it's worth, I don't care, we've got twice our number in food. We'll want to perform Ernalda again in two years, of course.
I'll be damned. I went to go select Hindala for the heroquest and found out we had a new Elmali. Also, it's Harvar. HAH! Should the worst happen and Elusu dies, we have a spare. We'll want to boost him, but that can wait until next year.
>>30230526FINE, YOU'RE NOT INVITED THEN. Everyone else will get extra because Leika hates feasting so much.
She fills the role with style and panache.
>>30230619Oh... we don't go through Heroquests? Well then. I am going to bed.
>>30230619These heroquests. Do they really go to god's realm or do they just go to a field and act it out?
>>30230656Both. Glorantha is like that. Most things are both a wave and a particle.
>>30230420It warms my heart to know that you saved it.
The Greydogs... attack? Okay guys, what's your game?>>30230645I did the quest in full the first time through each. After that, it's a slog and everyone knows the answers.>>30230656Honestly, it's both. You play act, and the characters fill the role and become the deity. That's why the graphic changes from people in costume to Gloranthan Death Metal, etc.
>>30230669>>30230656Actually both or either. Small Heroquests can be done in the real world with representations for things. Both in that they have representations but visions happen. Or the questers can actually be physically transported to the Other Side.
>>30230690>After that, it's a slog and everyone knows the answers. But so many neat things happen if you get wrong answers occasionally. Like a treasure that cuts exploration time in half.>>30230690Kill them all.
Hengall has a dream of swimming to the other side. Turns out it was a good omen, and he again proves our farmers outbadass most warriors.>>30230717I got the wheel a while ago. And the Sheep from borking Humakt more recently.
Oh what the hell.
I really don't like that the game decides to make all the enemies attack at once.
You might remember, if you've followed this for a while, that there was a specific kind of battle event that we couldn't win: The Orlanthi Stormlord hovering over the battlefield. No matter what we did, our people got roasted and nearly killed.Onelisin breaks that memory with amazing style.
>>30230877Awwww yis. Sic 'im, Onelisin!
And that's the threa--holy hell 92 new adults. That was fun for me, hope you all had a good time. I'll stick around for a bit to answer any questions you might have. I'll announce the next time I can run on Twitter (@WatashiwaOnline), hopefully in two days' time. Hope to see you all then.
>>30230564Damn, he looks sexy.
