Fake a struggle, knock some things down, scream a little. Break the needle he has. Don't crush it under foot for the risk of accidentally stabbing yourself. Give one of your knives to altar boy for him to conceal. I'd suggest concealing it yourself, but you rely couldn't, could you?

Now comes the hard part. You have to pretend to be knocked out. Altar boy will say that you put up a fight, but he managed to stick you with the needle. You can't react to anyone or anything until the time is right.

Well, we know that he holds religious ceremonies frequently, if erratically. That'll give Digby chances to move around without being spotted. He could try secretly getting the key and our weapons, or possibly convincing some of the other villagers that our treatment is inhumane. On another note, the mayor seems adamant that we should slip through the bars, but he also says that the Mother can't live without a host. We might be able to convince him that there's something special about us, that we can't live without a host like he can. That might even be true.
