STOP MAKING QUESTS
Heroic defiance aside, it does look like I'm pretty much dead here. Oh, well.
>>30190791>You are Smith Sterling, the Iron Master! And at long last, you have tracked down the elusive Asrael. On the other hand, if you assume that every opportunity is a trap and avoid it, you'll never snuff the irritating little fucker.Did this happen the last thread? Did you archive it, I must have left just before this
>>30191815Imma gonna blame twitter, which usually auto-updates and shows that new posts have been made in the tab.I've been monitoring it on and off for the last 4 hours or so, if I had seen that you made a thread, I would've joined immediately.
>Red Death finally ambushes Miguel. One of Asrael's own muggle allies, a trusted confidant. After a few hours of persuasion, Miguel finally gives away Asrael's hideout. Red Death leaves him with a few Iron Guard boys to confirm the story. In an abandoned subway station beneath Eastside, he finds what he's been looking for; the hideout. A half-dozen of Asrael's muggle crew is there, probably the whole set, and in addition, two old and familiar faces: Drs. Span and Dandurand, the shoulder angels of EdenTech. And that first one is Kestrel's father.>Red Death is not detected and makes his way back to the surface to report. Asrael himself is not present. According to Miguel, he's headed out of town. He wouldn't say why, but he did mention where: San Diego. Lets grab the good doctors and bring them in. Dandurand is going to be aggressively hired and put on the cloning project. Not sure what to do with Span since he is Kestrels father. Lets put him in a house arrest somewhere nice in our territory. Somewhere protected, I guess.I have no idea where the fuck we should hide phylacteries. If they can find them with absolutely no problem at the bottom of the sea among various identical junk, how can we properly hide them?
>>30192711Also, we haven't threatened the police chief yet.
>>30192711Put them next to other items of power so that it is masked by the more powerful artefacts?
>>30192744We also haven't shot his daughter in the spine and had her raped yet, either.Oh wait wrong series, this isn't The Killing Joke.
>>30192775We might have to if she doesn't call of the police vendetta.>>30192753We don't have any artifacts, in fact no magical item has been encountered throughout the whole quest.
Oh yes, NOW the twitter auto-updates.
Oh, look, people. Neat.>>30192711Dandurand is going to be of limited use on the cloning project. He's a roboticist.>>30192821>We don't have any artifacts, in fact no magical item has been encountered throughout the whole quest. Not quite true. Tarot's deck was magic. It was also as dangerous as it was useful, though, so you handed it off to White Mage and made the whole thing Las Vegas' problem, and there were a bunch of books on magic in the vampire library, which may or may not qualify as "magical items" depending on your definition. You aren't swimming in magical loot, though.>>30192744Threatening her is going to require an action if you're going to do it in style. If you just plan on sending her an email with the pictures you already have attached, though, you can do that for free.
>>30193148>Dandurand is going to be of limited use on the cloning project. He's a roboticist.Anything we could set him to do then? We should capture them anyway so having them do something useful would be good. I wonder what would happen if we put all these scientists into the hivemind. 5 geniuses as one mind could bring some crazy shit.>Threatening her is going to require an action if you're going to do it in style. If you just plan on sending her an email with the pictures you already have attached, though, you can do that for free.Could Julio do it? Does he have an action left? Another thing, we should set up an elaborate trap in Asrael's hideout. First, grab all the mooks who knew we found it out. Strap a bombs on their torso which are undetectable under clothes, put surveillance devices on them too. Tell them we will blow them up if they somehow spread the information. We can't simply kill them off because Asrael needs to thing everything is alright there. Then we seed his hideout with our Mechs and put them on standby mode.If we can, we should also modify his lair and turn it into a mouse-trap of a thing. When he enters, the whole thing get on lock down and he is left alone with our Mechs.I'm not sure if sending RD and Rica after him is a good idea. Will they be available next turn to act in LA if we send the,?
>>30193345San Diego isn't nearly so far away that RD and Rica will be out of commission for a whole week if you send them down there to grab Asrael. However, Red Death and Rica are the only ones with actions left and they have one each, so if you send them to deal with Asrael, you won't be able to do anything else until next turn.
I have no idea what to do with the phylacteries.Put them into a extremely durable mox, welded shut. With thick layer of lead and steel (or whatever metal can block magical shit if we know about it). Put a high-tech device with a nuclear battery along. The device will act and notify us if the box get disturbed somehow. It also acts like a gps in case we need to track it.Make a box for each phylactery. Then bury them deep underground in different locations within our territory. Probably a good idea to do it through the subways. Then make the bury site look as it looked before we started digging.I have no other better ideas. Can we ask our henchmen for ideas?>>30193412Alright, lets send them. Can we send some mechs for extra fire-power too? What about the trap idea?Any idea what we could do with Dandurand?
We still haven't contact Ronin to see where they stand on Swordsman Ronin upgrade. Also, I want to go back to my idea of selling super-powers to rich people. I'm certain that at least durability would be interesting for any despot, druglord and criminal who can afford it. One time payment of 1million doesn't seem much for the permanent protection.
>>30193492You can always ask your henchmen for their input. In the case of phylacteries;-Julio likes your plan.-Rica recommends putting shittons of firepower on top of them. Put them all in one spot and have the mechs hang out there unless they're doing something else. Have a whole mess of bots and gangsters camp on top of it whenever the mechs are busy.-The Red Death would suggest paying someone else to guard them (without informing them of what exactly they are), someone outside the city and preferably in South America. The hero culture there is different enough that it's unlikely Kronos will be able to persuade any of the local capes to retrieve the artifacts for him just by being Kronos, which means if he wants to do something about it he'll have to fly to Buenos Aires. Red Death would also note that the best solution is to just get rid of Kronos and Asrael ASAP, since obviously one or the other of them is behind this.Your mechs have been hanging out sipping lattes and talking about Breaking Bad for the whole week while you've been using your own personal actions to found sets and commit robberies, so yeah, they're available to pop down to San Diego.
>>30193626Ah, yes, that's something you can do for free. And the Ronin are entirely happy to buy superpowers from you, particularly since they've lost Daimyo Okata and have thus lost a lot of what made them a big deal in the LA underworld. They're not entirely convinced you won't just take the opportunity to poison them, but they've got a few trusted grunts they can spare for the upgrade and it won't be a big deal if they die.As far as selling super powers in general, the biggest stumbling block is that you don't have a lot of customers in your contacts book right now, and Whisper has inconveniently died which means you'll have to find your clients yourself. That'll take some investigation, though it'll be a Hell of a lot easier than finding Asrael.
>>30193777Oh, and when I say "for free" I mean "without using actions." Still costs resources.
>>30193703How much would it cost for RD's plan?Rica's plan basically tells them "LOOK WE GOT SOMETHING IMPORTANT HERE". Sooner or later they will make some plan to crack the defenses and fuck us up.Anyway, lets send RD, Rica and some mechs with them. Are you avoiding the question about setting up an ambush in Asreal's hideout?>>30193777Alright, lets get some Samurai made. How did we agree on this? Will they pay simply for the costs with no profit for us or do we get some resources in return?>That'll take some investigation, though it'll be a Hell of a lot easier than finding Asrael.Right, we'll do that once we have some actions. Also, lets send that mail to the police chief. If it doesn't phase her, then we will make a personal visit next turn (let her know it will happen sooner or later if she doesn't act). Can we bribe her, btw? I seem to remember that she was found of alcohol
>>30193835Rica's plan is basically made from the assumption that no matter what we do to hide them it won't be enough, because apparently they're now omniscient with regards to phylactery locations. So shove them in a locker, weld it shut, and go ahead and write SECRET PHYLACTERY LOCKER DO NOT OPEN on the side 'cause it won't make a difference anyway, and then just murder anyone who gets close to it.Red Death's plan is probably going to cost somewhere in the vicinity of 10 resources. Enough that the guy you hire will want to continue doing business with you rather than just take the money and run, but not so much that it'll bankrupt you. What question about setting up an ambush in Asrael's hideout? I saw the plan, but didn't see any relevant questions. Did I miss something? The current plan was to have the Ronin pay for their super samurai at-cost. I think the motivation behind that was getting more super villains to help level the odds, since you are a bit outnumbered. Though not all that much; you, Rica, and Red Death vs. 5 heroes. You can try and bribe Capalbo, but there's no guarantee of success. When you're bribing specific individuals, you can't just let the law of large numbers kick in where surely the majority of police officers in any given precinct are open to bribery and can redtape the good cops until they're useless, so there's no guarantees.
>>30193835The Profit is we've been allies with them for some time, and the added Super meat for Team Red will make the Heros have to deal with Them now as well, which will drop heat off of us since they're stretched thinner. Our alliance has been hurt with the Okata death and Azeral's deceptions, but selling to Ronin At Cost is a very good Good Will act to beef up the respect. And hey, Super Sentai Warriors fighting for the forces of Evil is pretty fucking neato.
>>30194148I'm the person that pushed for the Ronin Swordsmen in the first place, so im invested in the idea. Im both glad to see Eidolos back (But your name change to the mind linked entity we're with is kinda frightening/foreboding) and biting at the bit because of setbacks.
Oh God right.MURDER Azeral's Crew. All of them, they're capible of tech and magic asspulls, Them. Dead. Now.
>>30194137>What question about setting up an ambush in Asrael's hideout? I saw the plan, but didn't see any relevant questions. Did I miss something? How viable it is and if that needs action points. I mean, simply comment it. >The current plan was to have the Ronin pay for their super samurai at-cost. I think the motivation behind that was getting more super villains to help level the odds, since you are a bit outnumbered. Though not all that much; you, Rica, and Red Death vs. 5 heroes.Okay, just making sure. Lets have them pay for it.Heck, I suggest we get Mafia on the action too and let them have a couple of supers too.
>>30194265Are they?I thought only Asrael was magic
>>30194285"Simply Speaking boys and girls, The Half of the heroes are out of town, Azreal is out of town, it's time to stack the deck in our favor.Ronin, Since Okata we've been steadfast allies and have profited because of it until Azreal has hammered us all.Members of the Family. We've fought, we're butted heads, and we've came at eachother with bottles and chains, but you know what? You've Always, been strictly business. I've nothing but respect for that, and because of that, I want You in. Enough games, enough losing. It's time to make the City Ours, they cant possibly handle over a dozen super human heros with the financial backing of All of us.>>30194304I think when Azreal was doing that heros meeting he had his crew cast some spells and stuff.
>>30194401>heroesWell, i didnt mean 'that'
>>30194285The ambush requires action points, but setting up the ambush and actually ambushing Asrael are together just one AP. Whether or not it's viable, well, there's no *obvious* flaws but that doesn't mean your enemies don't have a trick up your sleeve. Of course, your enemies could *always* have a trick up their sleeve.>>30194304Asrael is apparently the leader of some kind of splinter faction of some secret magical cult thing. His buddies aren't supers, but they might have some magical expertise (in the same way that Drs. Rud and Iveson are not supers, but are still useful as scientists).
>>30194265>>30194456Maybe it would be a better idea to kidnap them and have them work for us like we did with the scientists?Oh, and we could ask them how they found out about the phylacteries.
>>30194516Miguel and a few others, pulp most. Then vicious torture/other not nice things on these guys for the info.I dont see converting them going over well, as Asreal as usual probably has a plan for it.
>>30194551Asrael's only got like six guys in his club to begin with. How many is "a few?"
>>30194587... 3v3.Miguel and the women mentioned at the meeting, and a RNG chosen 3rd.
>>30194608BUT, dont spend an action this turn to do on torture, just kill the other three.
Also, in the interests of keeping things moving:Red Death and Rica both have one action left. Do you want to set up the ambush for Asrael now or go chase him down in San Diego?
>>30194639Whats the cost to send a few of our most professional set to Kestral's home to see if her phylactery is there?
>>30194551well, okayhaving magic experts at hand would have been handy for sure>>30194639Chase him. Who knows what he'll do with KestrelBut can we simply send the bots and mechs we have left with no tasks wait at his hideout?
>>30194674Nothing. Your sets aren't really doing anything, and it only takes five minutes to call them up and say "go to this address and check the safe to see if it's got a part that looks like this inside it."
>>30194674why send sets when we can send robots?
>>30194724Robots without a human leading them are actually really unreliable. If they glitch up and decide that "open the safe" means "light the carpet on fire" due to some tweak of programming, there's no human on hand to tell them to cut it out. You *can* send them and it will *probably* be okay, but they're not perfectly reliable when not being overseen.
>>30194697We have some Necromancy books so we could try to train up a necromancer, assist them with expertly computer grafted hexes.>>30194707Send them out, tell it make it Discrete. Send a single Terminator that'd be strong enough to open the safe.
>>30194789>The Grimm Tome>A Studie of VodunWe got those two books, sure we missed out on 4 other ones, but we could squeeze by with that stuff.
>>30194697This is the only answer I've got, so looks like we're chasing down Asrael. But first!>>30194789Your crew shows up at Kestrel's apartment, lets themselves in, and the terminator pries the safe open. Looks like her phylactery is still inside. And now, the hunt for Asrael is on.Red Death tracks him down to the top of one of the city's many skyscrapers, but he's not alone. And it's not Kestrel he's talking to, either (she'd actually have some difficulty getting up there without her suit). It's Taser, Amp's old mentor, the man Asrael scarred permanently in January of 2008 when he first went Team Black. Unsurprisingly, Taser is not especially happy to see him. It looks like there's been a brief fight from the scorch marks on the ground, but they're talking now."We need someone who isn't being tracked to get rid of Red Death. Without him, we have the breathing room we need to take the Iron Master down.""I don't fight super villains anymore," Taser says, "it didn't work out so well the last time I tried it." You can see some of the burn scars even beneath his mask."There's no one else to ask. Everyone inside the city is being watched except for me, San Francisco is dealing with some metahuman population explosion, Magic Trick is on a killing spree in Las Vegas, Texas is all tied up with the drug war as usual, every city has some reason why not a single super can be spared. But San Diego doesn't need you, nothing ever happens here. It's not me that's asking, it's Amp. He needs you.""Then why didn't he come and ask himself?" Taser asks."He's being watched. If he asked you, the Iron Master would know to start watching you, too, and then we've lost our trump card," Asrael says.>by now you've got your team in position, attack?
>>30195149Move it.Needs to go somewhere crazy safe, and/or handed to the good doctor if only to show him."The man i helped take down Murdered your daughter, emptied a magazine into her chest. She was dead, he killed her. But she's back, because I brought her back. I've reached beyond the grasp and death and brought for Immortality, and this is the first set. This is your daughter's Soul, and as long as it is Safe, she will live forever.">As for the ambush teamWait. Wait and Watch. Red Death, Rica, we'll have words with Taser in time.
>>30195149Fuck.Fighting 2 supers is probably not a good idea. At least Taser is reluctant.Lets attack but try to keep Taser out of this. Tell him we only want Asrael. We don't threaten Amp nor Kestrel. Asrael is simply making shit up if Amp needed his help, he would have called long before we started spying on them and we only started spying on them because of Asrael. In short, Asrael is putting them in danger, even made Kronos kill a super and go to team Black. Also, too late, we already know his plan so, please, Taser don't get involved in this shit and paint a target on yourself too.(we'll need to spy on him anyway, I suspect Kestrel went to search for him)
>>30195299And although it is probably a Bad Idea, Tell Taser about Kestral. Amp doesnt need him, Kestral needs someone to talk to.
>>30195299>>30195342If we convince Taser not to attack when we fight Asrael then we can take him on. They also had a superbrawl just now, so I bet they are a bit weakened. Taser doesn't seem to want to do anything with this and would probably be easy to persuade. Also, if we fight, make sure to Jam Kronos' house and cut the power. Don't know if he is tracking Asrael again but I do not want to risk it.
>>30195342He'll probably convince her not to do anything with us once and for all. Do you want that?
>>30195385I do like that idea, we probably should risk that to prevent him from pulling anything off.
>>30195149How many mechs did we bring with us? I hope as much as possible
>>30195472You've brought all four. You've got a pretty formidable force, and while Taser's no pushover, he's probably not enough to make up for being outnumbered 3:1.
>>30195498On the hilarious off chance that Taser has a cell phone on him, whats the chances of hacking the number and giving him a ring."So you want me to come out of reti- Oh, hold on, i need to take this."
>>30195579Oh that's a good idea.Okay lets try to convince him not to take part of this. Whenever it works or not, attack Asrael.
>>30195579Hacking his number specifically is going to be tricky because you'd have to know which phone to hack, and you don't.>>30195631Persuade how?
>>30195712>Persuade how?are these points not enough? >>30195314
>>30195712Say the number of people he had killed, Including the number of Super's he's killed"Those he's killed has had trouble staying dead, but Only because i've seen to it. This man is a menace and you know it. Just walk away.By the way, you trained a good man, Amp is a worthy foe, while this... thing. Is a monster."
>>30195738As in: How exactly are you going to be speaking to him? Just have a mech walk up and start talking? Have Red Death do it? What's the plan for making contact?
>>30195910There's the risk. If we just Attack, Taser will likely attack by reflex, if we walked in and talked, then we lose the element of suprise and Asreal would just Holocaust the everything.Middle risk high reward, Attack now, but saw in the attack that this is for Asreal, and there is No beef with Taser or Amp. This is putting down a rabid dog, not a hero.
Anyway, I'm going to sleep.OP, sorry I missed your thread for the first 2 hours. I swear, I was checking for it just an hour before it started and waiting for it then got distracted by a video game.I hope the other guy(s) will stay along till the end. A suggestion to the players: lets try to invest into Banking. Then we can open banks in our hooker neighbourhoods for almost nothing and upgrade them to robbery. Banks in robbery generate 7res and with our set there it will add another 3. A single territory will give us 50% of progit we make right now from all territories.>>30195910Oh right. Lets surround them (as in have our troops get on the building from different spots) and have one of the mechs transfer our speech. The rest of our troops should be ready to tackle Asrael if he pulls any shit.Too bad we can't get into his phone. If those points we brought up are not enough. Tell him about Kestrel being distraught in the city after Asrael bullied her.
Rolled 7Seems like one person wants to talk and one person just wants to attack. One of those two people left so I'll roll for the "talk to Taser" approach, and if people are still around someone else can roll for "just attack Asrael." If people aren't around, then tomorrow we open with our big spectacular finale. Also, sorry this response took a while, I got busy for a bit.
>>30196604can we attack but have one mech Tri to talk to tazer?Maybe just shout for him to not get involved and we won't have any problem with him
>>30196604Ronin Warriors anon here, im still here, i just put in my piece and waited for responces
>>30196676Sure, you can try. Roll for it if you want to go for that.
Rolled 10>>30196676I'll roll for it too
>>30196926And we have a winning roll.Your forces leap from hiding to attack, one of your mechs shouting to Taser "we're here for Asrael, stay out of it."Asrael immediately vanishes, but Red Death's enhanced hearing is more than enough to detect his arrival two stories down in the office building. He steps off the side of the building, slides down the wall, and smashes through a window, grabbing onto the ledge and pulling himself up and to his feet before Asrael can make his escape. "You aren't getting away this time," Red Death says, pulling out his staff.Taser, meanwhile, has ignored your warning completely and attacks the mechs. Rica ignores him to go and back up Red Death, while a bolt of electricity burns through a bit of the armor plating on one of the mechs. The mech swarm makes quick work of him despite his incredible speed, however, pummeling him senseless within a few seconds and leaving him to recover on the rooftop before pursuing Asrael.Down below, Asrael detonates a holocaust as soon as Red Death gets close. The blast sears at his skin and draws out a scream of pain and rage, but Red Death muscles through. As the white inferno expands, Rica takes cover beneath an office desk, but the blast nearly carries her out the window. She, too, is able to keep fighting. The fire and blast rips through chunks of the building, catching one of your mechs offguard, the shrapnel tearing through some of its important circuitry, but the rest, being on the outskirts of the explosion, are unharmed. Then the Red Death gets within staff range, but Asrael is just barely able to match his speed, ducking, diving, and even blocking his blows. The fire gathers around Asrael, concentrating, another devastating blast incoming, this one likely strong enough to finish off Red Death and Rica and punch some holes in your mech squad. Rica lines up her shot, waiting until the last second, says "this time you get scars, bitch," and squeezes the trigger...>cont.
>>30197710The blast catches Asrael dead center in the chest. It punches straight through the armor he wears beneath his suit and leaves a gaping hole where his vital organs are supposed to be. The fire dissipates as he goes into shock, the momentum of the bolt carrying him backwards, spread-eagled on the ground. He clenches his teeth and tries to summon up his fire again, but he's done nothing more than smoulder when Rica's second shot catches him in the head."Should've killed me when you had the chance," Rica says. The Red Death pulls himself to his feet, coughing, pride wounded, but unharmed. The mechs are arriving now through the shattered remains of the top two floors of the building. The body is still. The heat fades to normal levels, and then to room temperature. There is no movement, not even breath.Asrael is dead. You have completed Pale and Inevitable and received 5 XP.
>>30197856Over the course of the next week, it becomes obvious that Chief Capalbo has taken the hint. You do suffer from a single attack by the police, on the New Mafia Legion in Anaheim, but they pull through. The rest of your territory is untouched, while Capalbo very suddenly refocuses her efforts on the Family and Santos Espada. Deprived of your plant in Team Blue, you can't say for sure what the dialogue between Capalbo, her fellow city officials, and Team Blue is like. Hopefully Capalbo can hold onto her job for at least another week or two. With no ongoing conflicts, your beleaugered sets begin regenerating morale while catching some much needed rest. The Ronin and the Family, meanwhile, are both open to negotiation for splitting control of the city three ways, and depending on exactly how much they'll need to pay, the Ronin might have enough to buy a dark sentai this turn.Either way, it is the second week of July, and there is only one man standing between you and total victory over Team Blue: Kronos.
Action Points:The Iron Master: 2/2Julio Pedone: 3/3Rica Rivera: 2/2Red Death: 2/2Resources: 18XP: 5Terror: Shaken
And for the sake of having a complete (if not very conveniently arranged archive): >https://archive.foolz.us/tg/thread/30145526/#30145526There is a link to the thread before this one, which I forgot to archive.
>>30198009I thought buying the dark sentai was going to happen on the Ronins turn?
fucking finallyasrael is dead
>>30200045Yes, but whether or not they want to buy one depends on how much it costs. So obviously the first thing you'd want to do is figure that out, before going on with the rest of your turn.
>>30204975depends what powers they wantthey'll have to pay the full costs though
You know, I kinda feel sorry for Asrael. In a way, he was actually the only good guy who cared most about civilians well-being. If things had gone more different (we actually stick to our anti-villain thing) perhaps we would have been allies.I hope we recovered his body though. I don't have any plans for it but I don't want anyone else getting their hands on it.
>>30198009>Deprived of your plant in Team Blue, you can't say for sure what the dialogue between Capalbo, her fellow city officials, and Team Blue is like. What? Did our mechs stop spying on the heroes? Anyway, we don't want her to lose her job. Just keep police operating normally and not focusing their attention entirely on us. Anyway, lets send a mech to spy on her too. Bug her office if we can, listen in on her telephone conversations. Getting her mobile number shouldn't be too hard. Once we get it we can listen on her from anywhere.>depending on exactly how much they'll need to pay, the Ronin might have enough to buy a dark sentai this turn.Depends what powers they want. Do they want a full package? Or lower tier powers? Hmm... now that I think about it, we shouldn't let them have more than 2 heroes, so that we always outnumber them. So it is their call to have 2 weaksauces or the best money can buy. We should also give the same offer to Mafia. One thing for certain, once they get heroes they are /OBLIGED/ to help us take down team Blue. And for that, we want our communication gadgets on them so that we can call them at any time. Do not hide that it also acts as a surveillance device. We also need to get their phones in case something happens to the device and we cannot reach them. It also gives the added benefit that we can spy on them through the phone. They can leave the comm device when they need to discuss something secret within their organization and feel safe but we still can monitor them through their phones if they slip and forget to remove them too.>Either way, it is the second week of July, and there is only one man standing between you and total victory over Team Blue: Kronos. Before we make plans, we should find out what the heroes are doing.
>>30213887Some minor things:-Bring in the scientists. I have an idea what the roboticist could do. Can we put him on research MechaZilla bot? Once succesful, we could get discount on the power like we got on many others. What was the specialty of Kestrel's dad anyway?-Bring in Asrael's magical cronies. Now that he is dead, they don't pose that big of a danger anymore. We need to find out how Asreal learned that we are Deathless, what infernal magics they used to find our phylacteries so easily and how we can protect against that kind of scrying in the future.-We went and fucked up Kestrel's safe. Can we go fix it or replace it with the exact same one with the same combination? That shit is going to lower her trust once she learns about it, even if we explain why we did it.-Speaking of Kestrel. Lets send RD to find out what she is doing.-What happened to Tazer? Can you retroactively make it so that we stole his gadgets? Don't want him to be a nuisance just in case and we can research them and find out about his powers in case we ever need to fight him.-Do an INVESTIGATION to find potential buyers for powers. For profit. The cheapest price is 10mil. Combo packages are cheaper. We wont be selling anything above tier 2.Ask Mafia and Ronin for help. They might have some contacts. Tell them that if they can negotiate higher prices. They will get a cut. That might give them an incentive.>>30213887Forgot one important thing about giving powers to Mafia and Ronin. Before each subject gets their powers, we need to get them through thorough tests for their "safety". In reality we are trying to determine their stats so that we have meta-sheets of them in case we ever need to fight them.
>>30213887I'm D&Ding soon but maybe we can keep this thing alive 'till tomorrow and reuse the thread. It's survived one night, may as well go for two.Anyways, re:stealth bots, the bots can keep track of the general location of the heroes indefinitely but cannot stay ten feet away to eavesdrop on conversations all the time.Concerning the Ronin and the Family, being wired up like that is absolutely a dealbreaker. So far as anyone can tell, you murdered Whisper, so no one's eager to set themselves up to be next on your hitlist as soon as you no longer need a large stable of super powered allies. The heroes aren't doing anything unusual. They patrol the city, fight crimes, just like normal. If they have a specific plan, your surveillance hasn't picked up on it.>>30214018Dr. Dandurand can contribute to any research into things to do with the Machines powerset, though fast results are unlikely. Dr. Span specializes in biomods and power armor; he created the Kestrel and Swordsman suits.Fixing up Kestrel's safe will be easy.Taser doesn't have gadgets. He's a metahuman. Not running quest right now so I won't resolve any of the actions. We'll take care of those tomorrow when I have more time.
>>30215284>Concerning the Ronin and the Family, being wired up like that is absolutely a dealbreaker. So far as anyone can tell, you murdered Whisper, so no one's eager to set themselves up to be next on your hitlist as soon as you no longer need a large stable of super powered allies.Hmm. Okay.Still, they are to help fighting team Blue if they can and give us ways to contact then somehow.>Dr. Span specializes in biomods and power armor; he created the Kestrel and Swordsman suits. So can we set him on some research/refinement task so that we can buy powersuit with resources instead of XP? What powers did the suit represent anyway? I can only remember that it gave flying power.
>>30215284>Anyways, re:stealth bots, the bots can keep track of the general location of the heroes indefinitely but cannot stay ten feet away to eavesdrop on conversations all the time. Can't we just outfit them with long-range listening devices? Laser microphones comes to mind.
>>30215517We may be able to make voice amplifiers which are less obvious than the real life counterparts.
>>30215517This doesn't solve the problem that following them into buildings is very difficult without arousing suspicion (particularly when they go someplace the general public is not cleared to just go walking around in, like city hall or any part of a police precinct past the lobby). Plus, keeping track of them and keeping a microphone trained on them at all times are different things, and the latter is a lot harder.
>>30216195I see.I know that there are devices that can listen through the walls but I guess they will have to be in the next room for that to work and passive spying wont work?
>>30216195Can we at least try to bug the police chief? You didn't comment on spying through her mobile phone. I doubt it will be hard to get a hold of her number. Even if it is personal. If not that, at least simply placing a bug on her person.I don't really want her to retire, but if she does, knowing when she plans to would be nice. Can you comment on Dr Span questions? >>30215411
When buying new powers can we get them from any power list we want or do they need to be unlocked first?
>>30216318Basically, yes. You can set up an observation post to spy on a specific room, but you can't follow someone around all over the city with a van full of super spy gear, follow them while they move through a building when you can't even see where they're going inside of it, and do it all without making anyone at all suspicious.>>30216415Bugging the police chief is certainly doable, but you have to actually do it. So far as you know she's not considering retirement, but when someone doesn't do their job in a time of crisis they tend to get fired.Concerning Dr. Span, you already know basically everything he'd figured out concerning the Swordsman Project. You already have those lab notes.>>30216581Of course you have to unlock the set first. What would be the point of unlocking sets if you could get the powers in them anyway?
>>30216822>Concerning Dr. Span, you already know basically everything he'd figured out concerning the Swordsman Project. You already have those lab notes. You said he specialized in biomods. Can he help with cloning? If not, what can he help with then?I went and looked at the bonuses we unlocked again>Project Photon/Aegis: These have 5 damage/DR and can be produced for free in small quantities. In larger quantities, for 5 resources each they can increase a set's Warfare or maximum Morale by 1. > can be produced for free in small quantitiesDoes this mean that every henchman and our MC have these? If not, why?Paying 5res for simply 1 point increase seems a lot. I mean, these are some sci-fi tier super-weapons. Or is 1 point increase actually good and I simply can't see it?>So far as you know she's not considering retirement, but when someone doesn't do their job in a time of crisis they tend to get fired. So we need to find the people who want to fire her and "persuade" them otherwise.Do they really see her not doing her job properly? We just made her stop focusing police attention on us, she still continues to do her work. Or do people /really/ want to deal with IM first?>Of course you have to unlock the set first. What would be the point of unlocking sets if you could get the powers in them anyway?I didn't find the information about this in the pastebin at first. Now I see it.How much would it cost to unlock next powerset? Also, can you post Swordsman stat sheet (or is the one on the wiki accurate?). I want to see the body we may get once we have cloning.I thought we had peak durability (blame the stat sheet on the wiki) but now I see that we don't actually....Hmm, I just realized. The idea to sell superpowers for much profit could be expanded by also offering Photon and Aegis armaments, right? Since one package costs 5res, I say we sell them at least for 15.
>>30217091Yeah, Span can help with cloning. The gang warfare system runs on a completely different RNG from the standard combat system, and uses dicepools of regular d6s. A +1 bonus is pretty awesome, although how awesome depends on how high the stat was to begin with. Going from 2 to 3 is actually kind of underwhelming, but going from 5 to 6 is pretty bitchin. And yes, every henchman who uses ranged weapons to begin with uses Photon rifles. If Rica hadn't been using one when she fought Asrael, he would've survived that first hit and lasted long enough to detonate another holocaust, which was basically guaranteed to take out Red Death, at which point he could teleport away because no one else has the Observation to catch him. So it's a good thing she had that rifle.Right now, the Iron Master IS Team Red. Everyone else is just street crime. There's no target besides you who's even close to a real threat. Without any kind of supervillain support, the other gangs would fold under any serious superhero crackdown.Your current unlocked powersets are Machines and Necromancy, and you got access to Superhuman Abilities for free because of Swordsman, so this is your third. Which, if I recall correctly, means that unlocking the next set would cost 9 XP. Could be 4, though, if I'm remembering wrong.I'm pretty sure the Swordsman sheet is accurate, since it was copy/pasted from when you got access to his stats after getting your hands on the Swordsman data.
>>30218029>Right now, the Iron Master IS Team Red. Everyone else is just street crime. There's no target besides you who's even close to a real threat. Without any kind of supervillain support, the other gangs would fold under any serious superhero crackdown. So giving Mafia and Ronin supervillians would change that, right? >Your current unlocked powersets are Machines and Necromancy, and you got access to Superhuman Abilities for free because of Swordsman, so this is your third. Which, if I recall correctly, means that unlocking the next set would cost 9 XP. Could be 4, though, if I'm remembering wrong. We have also monster forms which come from shapeshifter powerset. Unless we got them through a special event which I no longer remember.Speaking of which, can you make a more detailed character sheet page on the wiki, I don't know the exact stats of those morphs beyond that one of them helps with Tech score and another is geared towards battle.>I'm pretty sure the Swordsman sheet is accurate, since it was copy/pasted from when you got access to his stats after getting your hands on the Swordsman data. But now I can see that you deleted the page so I'd like to request again to make a proper page on wiki or simply update each characters page with their stats.> And yes, every henchman who uses ranged weapons to begin with uses Photon rifles. What about the Aegis armor? Do they use it too?A question about Super Vehicle power. One can buy any power for 6xp with it, right? So what stops us taking it and investing it into Mechagodzilla which costs exactly 6xp? Essentially spending 4xp on a 6xp power. How would that even work fluffwise?Man, this power can be used for all kinds of shit. Like buying fortune powers and influencing battle from far away inside your Probability Machine. Anyway, I'm off to sleep. Try to keep the thread alive and I'll keep bumping it once I wake up.
bumpop keep the thread alive!
>>30218427The Family and Ronin would become bigger targets if they had supervillains, yes.The Monster Forms power came from bonding with Eidolos. They do have Aegis armor. The thing with a super vehicle is that it can be blown up and then it requires more XP to replace. This makes the powers attached to it inherently a little unstable. That said, Mechagodzilla works the same way and could easily be a vehicle, so I should probably patch that.
Bumping for survival
>>30224652>The thing with a super vehicle is that it can be blown up and then it requires more XP to replaceReally? Why? I thought they would work like our robot powers which we can always build more once they are broken. I think this information is important enough that you need to add it as a note in the ruleset. Are there any other powers from other sets which can be so easily lost?
>>30224652>They do have Aegis armor. And do our mechs and terminators benefit from that too? Also, does Aegis armor have DR of 5 or 6. At one place it is written that it is 6 at another that it is 5.
Do Super Strength and Super Speed bonuses stack?using them both at same time will give +6 Athletics or +4?
How do fortune powers work?It says on the powerlist that they work at any range and doesn't matter if the user is conscious. Does that mean that the user could influence something that he is not aware of or cannot see? If we had a henchman with Fortune powers, could he or she influence a battle or an event they are not part of and simply observe them through cameras? Does the Charmed power work on rolls related to the user or could they also help with rolls of the allies? For example, if they get into a fight while being with allies, would all the allies rolls be modified? Does the user need to be fighting or could they, say, hide in a shop nearby while everyone else is fighting?
Do photon rifles count as mundane weapons? How much damage do they do? 5?If used against an enemy with super durability they will basically do 0 damage, right? And Aegis armor, Is it a mundane armor? If it is and it has DR of 5 points I don't see a point in having it at all since riot gear or dragonskin (not real dragon skin) armor have same value.
Can we have more than one franchise in the same territory? I mean different businesses of course.
>>30218029>Your current unlocked powersets are Machines and Necromancy, and you got access to Superhuman Abilities for free because of Swordsman, so this is your third. Which, if I recall correctly, means that unlocking the next set would cost 9 XP. Could be 4, though, if I'm remembering wrong.Could you check how much the next powerset costs? Also, counting the free set we got into xp costs seems unfair. I mean, it was free, there shouldn't be any downsides like that.
Fuck I'm like three hours late. Sorry about that.>>30229486Because it gives you more XP than it costs to buy, so it has to come with some kind of drawback. You're right that it should come with a warning, though.>>30232012Your mechs have Aegis armor, your bots do not. There's a lot of those guys, so they're above the "have it for free" threshold. The higher numbers are accurate. The power of mundane weapons and armor was buffed slightly at the same time as I handed out the ability to ignore them to a shitton of superpowers. Which is why your dudes having Aegis armor doesn't usually come up; practically everyone gets to ignore it except the police.>>30232489Bonuses from the same powerset do not stack, but bonuses from different powersets do stack. Super Strength and Super Speed are both from the Super Human Abilities set, so the bonuses do not stack.>>30233721For your standard good/bad luck rolls, the only requirement is that it somehow involve the person with the powers. So if you have the Fortune powers yourself, anything, even things which the Iron Master is not personally aware of, is fair game. On the other hand, if it's a henchman, it's basically a question of whether or not I decide this is something which the henchman would particularly want to spend those power points on. Charmed only works on rolls made by that particular character. Allies do not benefit.>>30233864Anything that doesn't come from a superpower is a mundane weapon/armor, including Photon weapons and Aegis armor. Most of the time when you hit an enemy with more armor than your weapon has damage, you don't do anything, however every 3 points above their roll you get, you deal an extra point of damage. If your roll is absurdly high and theirs is absurdly low, you can punch out someone with Super Durability using only mundane fists.>cont.
>>30234409Yes, you can have franchises of different industries operating in the same territory. Hypothetically you could have different franchises of the same industry, but then you'd be splitting your own profits while doubling your upkeep.>>30235040The specific phrasing of the bonus is that you can buy powers without having unlocked the set, specifically because that means it doesn't count towards the number of unlocked sets when determining XP costs. I just forgot whether it was the square of the number of sets currently unlocked or the square of the number of sets you'd have unlocked after getting the new one. The first one would be four (you have two sets unlocked, Machines and Necromancy, so it costs 4 XP), the second would be nine (you have two sets unlocked, plus a new one would be three, so that's 3*3=9 XP). As it happens, I double-checked the rules and it's the first one, which certainly squares up with the number of powersets heroes and villains tend to have unlocked. So it costs 4 XP to unlock your next set.
>>30214018Now, there are three proposed actions here:-Rounding up Asrael's little support squad, along with Drs. Span and Dandurand.-Sending Red Death to track down Kestrel.-Having someone (didn't mention who) track down potential buyers for your super serum.
>>30237434>Fuck I'm like three hours late. Sorry about that.Oh goodie. I was almost going to retire to bed. I think I can stay for 2 more hours.>For your standard good/bad luck rolls, the only requirement is that it somehow involve the person with the powers. [...]So I was thinking of designing a totally broken mech variant. It has all the Fortune powers plus it can command terminators. It has 0 stats in everything except power, which is 6.Can such a thing be made (assuming we unlock fortune powers)? The idea is to have it stowed somewhere safe (like Kronos does when influencing battles from his house) while helping out with its luck powers.I'm not sure if I calculated it right but it seems to work out, if it is possible then the mechs would be broken as fuck. Having 4 mechs being influence everything around them to such degree means that nothing can be lost, ever.>>30237502Just to make clear. If we open up a bank in a hooker district with its +3 profit bonus, it will generate 3resources in that districts right (including the maintenace fee)?
>>30237582Last time I was asking about laser microphones and other shit. Later I read the plot summary and remembered that we had GHOSTS! Why didn't you remind me that?I'm sure some of our loyal Iron Guardians died in the past month. Could we call them up for last service? We can't do anything for them but we will reward their families or friends. Also, reading about hcaracter there was a hint that Tazer might want to come back to LA. We don't want that.We beat him last time. No one knows Asrael went to San Diego. No one knows we fought them there. So no one will know that we kidnapped Tazer and put in into medical coma. Do it.Also, grab Asraels body and set the office building on fire the floor we fought on. Make it look like an accidet. A short circuit or something
>>30237582>-Having someone (didn't mention who) track down potential buyers for your super serum.Super serum. Cancer serum (being able to regenerate from mortal wounds is almost as great as super powers). Photon weapons and Aegis.Which of our characters is more likely to succeed in this? Let them do it. Also ask Ronin and Mafia for finding contacts. Tell them if they manage to negotiate a higher price, then they will get a cut. The lowest offer is 1mil for tier 1 powers and cancer. Photon and Aegis cost 1.5milAlso, have them bring their grunts for power serum. Tell them we will make them each 1 hero, but if they want more then they will have to agree on comm device provided from us.Question about Whisper. Was it confirmed that he died? Or did he just disappear. Wasn't clear from plot summary.
>>30237595>It has all the Fortune powers plus it can command terminatorsExcept Charmed. Fuck. Forgot to mention that. There is an alternative model which has all of them but cannot control terminators.
>>30237736>>30237582Since we are so great at Tech, I think we could use the DEEP net to find potential buyers.
>>30237595Assuming you unlock Fortune powers, sure. Some kind of voodoo mech actually sounds pretty cool. That said, I think you're overestimating how broken they would be. Just like Kronos' Time Stop power, this is a setup that makes you effectively invincible for a very short amount of time, so the counter is to send so many dudes that you just aren't capable of beating them all within that amount of time. Once your mechs run out of PP (which, if they're buffing every one of their bots, will be in one turn), all you've got is a bunch of bog-standard terminators, who are decent but ultimately still cannon fodder. And yes, if you open up a bank in a hookers district you'll be getting 4 resources, -1 for upkeep for 3 resources in profit. The startup costs are very steep, but once you have them paid you can make crazy awesome profits off of banks. The problem is where to find the 38 resources to get you started.>>30237648Ah, yes, ghost spies. The old standby. They're unfortunately a bit fickle, as even people who were loyal to you in life might decide they'd rather pass on right in the middle of spying, and some might just go crazy and start haunting shit (as ghosts are wont to do), but on the bright side there's not many places shielded against them. The Family still has their ghost wards up in Hollywood but hasn't installed any in their new territory over on Westside, and Kronos' house is shielded, but other than that the city is pretty much an open book.>>30237736Whisper reported being under attack from bots, then nobody heard from him ever again. No body was found, but it is assumed that he is dead. Specifically, it is assumed by every other criminal in the city that you killed him.Asrael already torched the building you were fighting in with multiple holocaust blasts. I assume you're trying to cover up the fact that there was a super brawl there at all? Because if you're just trying to destroy evidence in general, that's already taken care of.>cont
>>30237648You can grab Taser if you want, but if there's even one clue you haven't thought to eradicate, that could end poorly for you. Julio in particular is opposed to that course of action: What if someone saw your atrociously non-stealthy mechs stomping around on their way to the fight? What if people assume you're responsible for his disappearance just by default because you're the only big villain left in southern California? What if a SWAT raid happens to hit the facility where you're keeping Taser's unconscious body and you can't evacuate him in time? Easier solution: Just set the body on fire and people will think Asrael did it.>>30237886That's a possibility, certainly. Basically just an investigate action with one of the usual two rolls swapped out for Technology.
>>30238140>That said, I think you're overestimating how broken they would be [..]How about when they buff our henchmen? And we don't need to make all mechs into them ( we can mix and match unlocked sets, right?). Having one Lucky Mech on standby all the time to influence events at critical moments. Commanding terminators is just a bonus.> Easier solution: Just set the body on fire and people will think Asrael did it.Yeah, that sounds better. And Asrael simply disappears as he wont do.We don't even need to do much, I think. Simply let the body lie and let the fire take care of it. Or we can pretend that Tazer was already dead when we got there so no one can accuse us neglecting him or something.>Whisper reported being under attack from bots, then nobody heard from him ever again. No body was found, but it is assumed that he is dead. Specifically, it is assumed by every other criminal in the city that you killed him.So if we want to find out if he actually died and wasn't just kidnapped by someone we should INVESTIGATE, right? I'm glad we have Red Death. He'll help us out here.Anyway, lets do these actions then >>30237582I have a basic plan on how to defeat Kronos but lets see how this works out first.
OP, when trying to design new mechs I stumbled on something that makes the mech nerf even more detrimental. We cannot upgrade the existing models to better variants without spending XP. That shit is bollocks.Lets say in a new game at the start of the game we design a battle mech. It has your standard combat stats and has peak strength and peak durability. Then we get XP and unlock better durability stat for our MC and want to improve our mech too. Suddenly we need to waste tons of XP on such a minor upgrade.I think it would be better if you allowed redesigning the mech as long as their basic function stays the same. Stealth bots will stay stealthy, combat bots will stay combaty, etc. We just can't custom make them to deal with every threat.Otherwise there will be no reason to have machine powerset in the fist place. Either one needs to unlock everything they want in their mechs/terminators first and then design them, by which the MC will be already high-level and the game would be at the middle or end. Or they need to waste tons of precious XP redesigning them everytime we gain a power we want to include them (or a bonus like Project strider). Basically make it case by case thing.Question:Which Mech sets we have unlocked? Are the mech designs we used before the nerf still available (like command mech)?
What happens to the person when we posses them? Does their conscious go to sleep or do they still experience everything but can't control their bodies? Are the people we took control of still in the Hospital on IV-drips? How many of them are there? How do the heroes patrols look like? Does Kronos patrol near the hospital where the drones are kept? How far away the other heroes are from him on average? We can jam signals in a small area, can we? Could we prevent Kronos for calling back-up from other heroes without them being immediately aware of it?
>>30238309Buffing your henchmen would work pretty well. It's still ultimately vulnerable to being run out of PP (a single lucky charm mech has 18 PP from a Power score of 6, and using Good/Bad Luck to its fullest requires 6 PP per round per target; if he buffs Red Death and Rica simultaneously and they're fighting someone who uses Cunning attacks, the mech will run out in a single round). It's a powerful trick, but not unstoppable.Concerning Taser: It's totally okay to sit and watch while someone else kills him, so you don't have to worry about that. So long as you didn't actually help kill him, there's no Good Samaritan clause that says you have to save him.The trail on Whisper is a bit cold, so investigation will be difficult, but it's doable.Anyways, actions. You're successfully able to find a buyer for your super serum, a gang lord in San Francisco who'd like to join the supers scene before all muggle crime is rendered obsolete by the metahuman surge. Depending on exactly what the prices are, he's looking at a set of all three tier one powers. The Cancer serum doesn't much interest him, though. He doesn't have much use for restoring dead bodies, and a mild health boost isn't likely to make much of a difference if someone's trying to punch his ticket. After weeks of hunting for Asrael, even the cold trail on Whisper is like a vacation for the Red Death. He pours over the last transmissions sent out by Whisper, and before long notices something odd: Whisper switched to text only around the same time things started going really crazy. And they started going crazy because very suddenly Asrael seemed to be everywhere and know everything. When Red Death finds an old Whisper backup server, part of his cloud storage network, he discovers that the vast majority of Whisper's record-keeping suddenly ceased the night before Mesmer disappeared.>cont.
>>30238800>Mesmer disappeared.Man, I don't remember anything about that side-plot.Summary didn't even mention it I think.
>>30238800The Red Death can't provide definitive proof because the trail is cold and, in any case, Asrael would have destroyed the body. But everything fits. Whisper is located and killed by Asrael, who gains access to his network. The next night, he uses his knowledge to abduct Mesmer and his girlfriend, and later drive them out of the city. A conversation between Whisper and Cat the night of her own disappearance (according to Asrael himself, he ran her out of town; possibly he was lying and killed her, but certainly it is true that she has vanished) would have allowed Asrael to locate her. Asrael would have known to bomb the meeting between the gang leaders because he was the one who arranged it. Finally, in order to discard the need to maintain the charade and turn the underworld against you at the same time, he fabricates an attack by bots. The location "Whisper" gave you when requesting your help isn't listed in any of the recovered Whisper records as actually being one of his hideouts.>>30238585Mechs pull upgrades from unlocked sets, not from unlocked powers. If you're assigning an entire new powerset to a mech, that isn't a minor alteration. Also: No, most of the old mech designs aren't even rules-legal anymore. You used to be able to make mechs that had about twice as much XP as the actual villain, and that was dumb. Even the mechs which are rules-legal are still not-unlocked and no, I am not interested in another long and stupid debate about balance, verisimilitude, or any of the other stupid excuses people use to argue that the Iron Master should be five times more powerful than all of Team Blue put together.>>30238660The person possessed knows what's going on but can't control their bodies.Yes, your drones are still your drones, and are still inert in the hospital. There's about two dozen of them.

It's a powerful trick, but not unstoppable. But these powers don't have to be used just for battles, right? We can amplify subversion rolls, investigation, heists, etc. Right? I think it is a great useful mech design to have. One thing is unclear though. In your ruleset description it is mentioned if Bad/Good luck are used after the roll is made or it has to be made before the dice are rolled.>>30238938Fucking Asreal that piece of shit. Can we send this info to Courier? God damned asshole. Lets vilify the Team Blue who works with such despicable man. I think it might be enough to convince Kestrel to join team Red, especially when she learns that we saved her father from imprisonment and if people believe that Asrael killed Tazer (which he technically did).Perhaps Kestrel will come out and tell the public how team Blue works with Asreal. We need to find Kestrel next. Also, what happened to Tazer? Did he burn to death? Does the media pick that up already? Can we seed rumours through internet or something that there was a brawl between Asrael and tazer?

He doesn't have much use for restoring dead bodies, and a mild health boost isn't likely to make much of a difference if someone's trying to punch his ticket. The standard going rate for each power is 10res. If he is buying in bulk we can make a discount. 2 powers = 17res, 3 powers = 23 resources. Tell him the offer and see if he agrees. If not, perhaps we can barter a bit more.
>>30238902I double-checked and yeah, it's not in there. I'll add it in with the end of the Asrael arc when I get around to that.Concerning hero patrols: Kronos doesn't really patrol anymore, he just sits at home and waits for one of the others to need help. Amp and Behemoth patrol across the city, and are generally a solid ten minutes or so away from one another. With their numbers so thin and all the high-mobility supers out of the picture, it's not hard to get your enemies alone. And rounding out the actions taken, Red Death has tracked down Kestrel. When he catches up to her, she's in LA. Specifically, she's in Santos Espada territory talking to an arms dealer. Which is probably a bad sign. Her emptying an assault rifle into the dealer's chest in lieu of paying for anything is probably also a bad sign.
>>30239185Is her suit and stuff still lying somewhere in SD? Can we send a terminator to retrieve them?Okay, lets call our mechs to back up RD. They can act as shield if she decides to attack him. Maybe call Steve the android too, perhaps he can calm her up. Actually, having him contact her is probably a better idea that RD.Call out to her and ask her what she is doing. Lets see how she responds and we can go from there.Did we collect the doctors and Astael's troupe yet?
>>30239054You can use Good/Bad Luck after the dice are rolled, and yes you can use them on any roll, however you don't refresh PP until a new turn, so it's still a limited resource. Certainly useful, though. Cat had Fortune as basically her entire schtick and she was pretty handy. So far as vilifying Team Blue...How? All of Asrael's fake Whisper shenanigans happened before he was even working with them, and all you've found out is that he's a clever dick and he probably killed Whisper. Whisper was in sort of a grey area between super and non to begin with, so that's not really stunning new information. So far as Taser is concerned, I'm pretty sure you decided to torch the body, so yeah, the official news report would be that Taser and Asrael had a rumble and Asrael won.
>>30239318>So far as vilifying Team Blue...How?First we need to win Kestrel over. I think the latest things that happened might be the tipping point for her to fully join us. Then she can reveal to the masses how Team Blue is working closely with Asrael. Don't know how to use the latest information we gained on Whisper though, perhaps I went over my head.Still, it would clear up that we didn't kill him. Send it to Courier anyway.
OP, can you comment on this mech design?[Huge Blitz Mech]>Size: 20ft>Health 6 (+2)>Power 2>Athletics 6 (+2)>Cunning 0>Technology 0>Insight 2>Observation 6 (-2)>Stealth 0 (-2)Super StrengthSuper SpeedSuper Durability(Photon Weaponry)I tried to run simulated battle with RD and it seemed to curb-stomp him in straight-up battle. But since the whole battle thing is arcane magics to me, I might have fought wrong. These would be basically a show of force. Massive Gundam-sized mechs, capable of redeploying at incredible speeds. They cannot fight in doors though. I think they would be great to use as an immediate reaction to police and gang attacks, invading other gangs and, of course, fighting supers on the street.I'd like you to check if I got my math right and if there are any obvious weaknesses I missed. 2 Power is enough for using both SS's, right? Or perhaps would it be smarter to put Insight to 0 and have 4PP in case the same mech needs to fight more than once a turn.I put points into Observation simply because I do not want them to be easily ambushed.
>>30239541Yes, this mech will absolutely straight-up slaughter everything that's stupid enough to try and fight it one-on-one. An Athletics of 12 and photon weaponry means that anything that doesn't have extremely heavy armor is virtually guaranteed to go down in one shot. I don't think Behemoth could beat even one of these monsters.Amp would have decent odds, though. Why? Amp's stealth might not be amazing, but against an Observation of just 4 he might be able to sneak up and get a free first shot (particularly with Kronos giving him up to 6 extra chances), and his Cunning-based attacks are going to rip an Insight 2 opponent right to pieces. Between his high Cunning and Stealth and high-damage Cunning-based attacks, Asrael would've had a field day, but Asrael's dead. So barring a lucky strike from Amp, the only thing actually in the city you'd have to worry about is either Kronos using his Time Stop to get up to some shenanigans (even then, it's hard to imagine what he'd do with about a minute of free time against enemies that big) or else an air base getting called up to send an A-10 to take them out with airstrikes. Which is actually fairly likely to happen if those things are stomping around inside the city, but with Super Speed you might be able to hide them in the ocean or something before the planes can take off and reach the city.
>>30239683So it would be weak against Cunning based attack, which are basically all magic powered super, right? So would it be smarter to bump down Health and Athletics each by 1 point and put them into Insight just to have some measure of protection against them? Athletics of 11 is still pretty damn high, isn't it?Or decrease health to 4 (+2)?Super Durability decreases the damage from super attacks as well, doesn't it?Also, in your ruleset it says that once and enemy springs and ambush, they are unlikely to hide again since the opponent is already aware of them. If Amp manages to sneak attack and doesn't kill it in one shot, he is basically dead, isn't he (assuming Kronos doesn't time shenanigan again)?Oh, once you mentioned A-10, I think Aegis armor should be included as well. It gives 6dr against mundane weapons. Not sure if it would be enough to save it but it doesn't cost anything.
>>30239884Or maybe also decrease Observation to 4 (-2) and put 6 points into insight. They might be easy to ambush but, lol, good luck beating their athletic score and if you do, 5DR still stands in the way (6 if using mundane weapons)
>>30239884Cunning-based attacks aren't necessarily from magic-powered guys. In fact, anyone can make a Cunning based attack by using the Sneak Attack option, though that only works once. Air Powers has a Cunning attack, so if Storm were in this quest, her lightning bolts would be Cunning-based. Likewise, while Asrael's fire powers were magic-based, if the Human Torch or Pyro were in the quest, they'd be using the same powerset and would still be making Cunning-based attacks. Anyone with the Kung Fu power can make Cunning-based attacks in place of Athletics ones.Basically anything that's more about control and precision is Cunning rather than Athletics (if you're wondering why ranged attacks in general aren't Cunning-based; it's assumed you're running around to get a clear shot and then using spray-and-pray. There should probably be a power that lets sniper-types use Cunning instead).Yes, after the first ambush you usually aren't going to be able to sneak attack again, so if Amp doesn't one-shot the mech he'll have to survive the retaliation in order to get away. Although he could sneak attack from directly below and then it'd be the mech who'd have to change distance in order to get a shot off.DR-6 isn't likely to do much good against airstrikes, but it might give them two hits before they go down instead of one, so you may as well.
>>30240037>Yes, after the first ambush you usually aren't going to be able to sneak attack again, so if Amp doesn't one-shot the mech he'll have to survive the retaliation in order to get away. Although he could sneak attack from directly below and then it'd be the mech who'd have to change distance in order to get a shot off.It could still punch him. I think it would count a super fists so that would be 1dam attack....Not really alot. There should be high damage melee weapons. Now I'm thinking what is better to invest in. Fortune Mechs or these Huge Blitz mechs? I think Blitz mechs might be enough to convince the rest of the gangs peacefully join us once we defeat Kronos. I don't think they would want war with us, considering that we have enough raw power to destroy them AND we can send assassination strikes against their leaders. Thanks for confirming it. I think decreasing some stats to gain Insight might be a better idea, always a good thing to have some measure of defense against Cunning attacks.Anyway, lets deal with Kestrel. Send in Steve the Android. She knows that he is a machine but still...Wait. I'm so stupid. Send her father.
>>30240202You haven't actually acquired her father yet, so we should probably take care of that next. Asrael's old crew including both the remaining EdenTech doctors are still holed up in his old hideout and do not yet know that he is dead. The plan is to retrieve them, but how? Who are you sending, and what is the plan?
>>30240323Oh. Alright. Send Rica and the mechs. Red Death too in case he can be in two places at once.Bring Asraels body with us. Tell them to surrender peacefully and no one will get hurt. Tell them Asreal is dead by our hands and if we can kill him, they are certainly no problem for us. If they simply surrender, we wont let our grudge against Asrael spread on them and will treat them fairly.
>Twirled Mustache @MCJohnnyQuest 23m>Something important is missing.Dammit, OP, I'm not good at this shit. Don't induce these shadowruns in me
>>30240427We can speak directly through our mechs.Actually. Julio is better at convincing people, isn;t he?Send him too
>>30240589Jam, the signals around the areas we are doing these things in case Kronos is watching. I dunno.Same includes Kestrel too.It is unlikely that he is, but still.
>>30240589Oh, don't worry about the Twitter. It's not important.>>30240794You can't jam signals in localized areas. What you can do is jam channels, but the channels you jam will be jammed everywhere.Sending in Rica and Julio with mechs to retrieve the doctors, then?
>>30241001>Sending in Rica and Julio with mechs to retrieve the doctors, then?yes>You can't jam signals in localized areas. What you can do is jam channels, but the channels you jam will be jammed everywhere.Ignore what I said before. I wasn't thinking properly. What the hell is he going to do anyway?
Dammit, I'm getting too busy to continue this for today. If I hadn't shown up so late we likely would've gotten a lot more done, but oh, well. Tomorrow, we deal with Dr. Span, his new associates, and his daughter.
>>30241619alrightI should be going to sleep too
