Previous thread:
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/29726362/

In the distant future, man has spread out unto the stars. Planets get get colonized and mined for their resources. Powerful corporations compete with one another for economical dominance and glasses are still in fashion.

Last time, you have claimed a small asteroid, with as of yet unclear worth. Beginning to take steps towards a self sufficient colony, you have built various facilities, but now, new problems confront you.

The water filtration system is drawing almost all energy from your few solar panels, you could deactivate it, but then your water supplies would run out fast.

Furthermore, the strange box dropped of by MinCorp, perhaps by accident, is still unopened.

A signal from your communication array wakes you from your thoughts. Archibald and Lev have found ice in the caverns below.

Herbert and Sally start the construction on the solar panel (-3 resources), for we would like 1d100 from you.

Meanwhile Doctor Martha as the only one on the station besides you goes out to open the box. A foul stench greets the receptors of her space suit as the metal lid is pushed aside. There seems to be movement inside...

The construction of the solar panel goes near perfect, even Herbert breaks hardly anything.

Furthermore, a great pinkish slug-like lifeform is emerging from the crate. Martha calls over the comm for advice, she seems scared for her life. What should she do? Archibald is heading up as you speak, but with crane installed the way up is a slow process. 1d100 for Martha's reaction please.

Alright, this way of decision clearly is not working, so we'll go with >>30143677, having the narrow majority. We'll revert to the previous way of decision making with the next update.

Archibald rushes forward, but to no avail. The slugs attack has already done its toll on Herbert, who falls to the ground. The thing itself immediately starts burrowing into the ground, most likely scared by the charging mercenary.

Your contact at MinCorp is confused about your complaints - Apperently, no live cargo was scheduled to be dropped off at your location. It must be a misunderstanding, for which you most graciously will not be fined. The identity of the slug is as of this time unsure. On a different note he tells you that the 'Walrus' will come a day or two late, as there have been reports of space pirates in your area.

With this disastrous business dealt with for now, it is time to turn to other activities. The Walrus was scheduled to arrive at day 60, but it is unclear for how long they will be delayed.

In the meantime, Archibald guards Lev as he takes various ice samples. It appears to normal frozen water, albeit with a few impurities that can easily be extracted using your recycling facilities. Lev is also excited to find a few frozen protein, which would suggest some sort of life.

After a few days of hard work, Sally has installed a small turret atop the shuttle. With this, would the slug show itself on the surface again, you could make short work of it. It may even discourage pirates attacking, though it would not stand up against even lightly armoured spacecraft.

After the turret is finished, Sally starts working on the recreation commons, though in the midst of building, she realizes you do not have enough resources at hand. (you would need 1 more resource.)

After some observation, the encased in rock crystal turns out to be easily mined, the rock surrounding it being very porous. Unfortunatly, the crystal yield here appears to be quite low, though there are clues it is burrowed deeper beneath the ice. The main problem with mining either crystal or ice, according to Lev, is the lack of transportation to the surface. Also, you won't be able to mine both at the same time, for you have only one mining drill available. You also place another lamp in the mine, for more illumination.

Also, you check out the crate once more, and it seems to keep releasing small amounts of toxic gas.

Furthermore, the Walrus will be at your location in one day.

weld the crate shut.

Investigate farther to the right

have excess personal work on transporting up crystal. Slow as it may be.
>>
>>30144884

Make a containment transport device for the crate, and send it off with the Walrus. We don't need to deal with this shit.

I'm only two days from retirement, dammit, and here look at a picture of my wife and kids! What could possibly go wrong?
>>

I think we should build a cargo elevator once we got enough resources.

>>
>>30144964

I don't think we want to deal with that fuckin' worm just yet. All we have right now is our merc and the turret. If it comes to us, we handle it, but we don't have the resources to go looking for trouble.
>>
>>30144951

Agreed. We should streamline as much of our current operation as possible before we start adding more stuff to-do.
>>
How would we go around making resources ourself?
>>
>>30144985
Didn't say to mess with it but knowing what its up to is pretty important.
>>
>>30145005

Fair enough. I still think we'd spread ourselves too thin with that. I'm just putting it lower down on the priority list.
>>
>>30145022
Putting the evil killing worm who's probably reproducing right now lower down the priority list seems risky.

Boris the Vries, captain of the Red Walrus, hails your settlement. After listening to his near slew of curses about 'those damned pirates' whom he had to avoid to reach Chiron you discuss the current state of your settlement, and the strange slug that was sent here. While it is as of yet unknown what caused it to be sent down to Chiron, you feel that even if MinCorp knew, you would not be authorized to know.

On a more economical note, Boris makes it very clear that MinCorp is not satisfied with your progress so far, and will only reluctantly resupply you.

In the meantime, you have had the crate welded shut and Archibald has moved further into tunnel.

Aside resources and food, your choices are as follows:
>Prof. Engelbert Rust (Doctor)
>Dr. Lessly Kramm (Xenobiologist)
>Rute Danwin (Mercenary)
>Marvin Danwin (Engineer)
>Peter Romsaw (Miner)

>A high calibre defensive turret
>Shuttle parts
>A crate of medical supplies
>A welding torch of huge proportions
>A ground transporting vehicle
>Another mining vehicle
>A set construction materials for a basic laboratory
>Or do you want to inquire if there is other stuff for you?

So, how much personnel and stuff can we take?

>>
>>30145073

Lets get a miner. We need to have something to show the Corp.

You didn't specify how much we can get.
I suggest
>Another mining vehicle

We should really start up some mining operations.

You can take one specialist gear, and two people, somehow this didn't copy over, we are not retarded, just incompetent.

Also enhanced the picture for viewing pleasure.
>>

Another merc. That worm might be reproducing for all we know.

Ask if they got anything for making cargo elevators.
>>

In that case, let's expand this >>30145158
to include the other Danwin sibling.

Dr. lessly kramm
peter romsaw

Defensive turret
another mining vehicle

try selling cristals
build more solar panels to support the turret

We're using up all our available power right now, aren't we? If we are going to expand at all, we need to increase capacity.
>>
>>30145073

Miner and mining vehicle sounds about right. Let's get this mining shit down. With MiniCorp's support we'll be able to tackle the worm problem.

Keep in mind we can only sustain 5 people at the time. The food production improvement would be critical if we get 3 more people. We'd waste a lot of time with these facilities instead of setting up a proper mining operation.
The corp is displeased with us, we need to act fast before they cut all the support.

Hahahaha okay OP

Thats a problem? Aren't we supposed to be playing the Sims?
>>
>>30145283

is there a way to produce resorces?
or to trade our ice with nearby colonies?
>>
What does MineCorp actually want us to be producing?

Presumably we know the relative value of the resources available. What's worth more: ice or the crystals we found a little bit of?

What resources would we be hoping to find here? Gold? Hydrocarbons? Uranium?
>>
>>30145293

With the other engineer, I think we should be able to expand our botanical plant pretty fast.

The Red Walrus sends down its cargo, granting you 20 resources and 16 food to spend during the next 30 days. After you send up a small sample of crystal to the ship, Boris remarks that this is the sort of substance MinCorp is interested in. He mandates 3 units of this crystal in order to sustain your little colony. Any other crystal you dig you can either trade for additional food or resources, or keep for yourselves.

Upon arrival, a big cheery fellow by the name of Peter Romsaw almost immediately approaches Archibald, and it seems like the two quickly get some connection. Rute Danwin, the young and inexperienced merc now in your employ tries to keep up and appearance of professionalism as she hand you her contract.

Why exactly is it so hard to move the crystals up the mine shaft? The gravity on our little asteroid can't be more than 1/10 that of earth. The miners should be able to literally throw the crystals up to the surface if they wanted.

I've played it. But it just doesn't have quite the feel this does. If Cortex Command was more DFesque then maybe. To be fair nothing I've played so far can really compare with a well run Quest. Other than other roleplaying games.

The entertainment room, which, under your careful guidance, has become a bit more of a lounge. (-1 resource) Furthermore, Sally starts working on the elevator in the mineshaft. (-2 resources)

So far, you have mined 1 unit of crystal, but without more research it is impossible to tell how much is left in this vein.
