>>30132013Woo, time for Overhuman.Do we have a list of Oaths we might take? Because I'd prefer we get at least a couple squared away before we head out on our journey.
>>30132053When more people get here, I'll get that up.To simplify it, it'll be a vote for which Spell, and then the Oaths that I've seen receive the most support/The oaths that I think are the best balanced.
>>30132126Cool.Though I hope we don't end up with the Oath of Chastity/Abstinence. I don't like it much for Asher, and it means we can't use sex as a component in ritual spells, and high level Water Control extend into Life, Creation, and Fertility, and Asherah, the Goddess we've ended up naming ourself after, is a Goddess of motherhood, fertility, and sex, you see my issue, there are pretty clear mythological links between water and sex, just look at Aphrodite, she arose from sea foam of all places. Sex is both a pretty easy ritual component to obtain, and about as appropriate as you can get for a lot of useful applications of high level water magic.
fuuu, gotta fix my notes. Don't have your teamies updated properly.
>>30132329uuuh yesthis is totally why we should keep sexyeeaaaaa
Hitting the streets, you form up with your team as the coolness of the saturated evening air washes over your body. The ruined city holds its breath, the sounds of the city a hollow echo far gone with its life drained back into the primordial sea.==============================Eshe has assumed her slimy alien fish-form, her bio-luminescence deadened to dark for what's to come. Helia takes deep breaths, gently nursing her wounded abdomen, and cleaning her spirit as she'd been taught. Aerin goes through a series of boxing maneuvers, illuminating her body with the strikes.A sliding step, punch. The air quivers, and her temp increases. Her green glow flaring up like a flame. The enemy won't see your lot here though.Hot Rod peers out from the rubble your company has taken for cover, the young guy's nerves a given.“Hey, so, uh. What are we waiting for? What's the signal?”Eshe, claps him on the shoulder, causing him to tense his back,”Keep your senses about you Hot Rod, you will know the signal.”You keep low against an outcrop of concrete, keeping your head down,”You've been saying that Eshe, but what's it supposed to be? We've been sitting here for like half an hour. Are they ready yet or not?”She looks back to you, her eyes as black globes better suited for peering through the depths of the ocean,”And as I said Asher, you will see.”
It's been getting on your nerves. The waiting, the cryptic words. You'd like to trust it, you really would but it's hard when you've just been initiated and suddenly you could be dying in the next hour to a stray bullet.Eshe, if she's anything like that demon-bitch, she could probably take a bullet to the head and just shrug it off. Hot Rod? He'd probably die from inexperience, but any other place he got hit, he should be able to heal through. Helia can take damage but hell, at least she can keep herself from bleeding out. Then Aerin's in the same boat as Hot Rod.To block a bullet. You'll need to learn at least how to do that somehow.A gunshot rings out all too close, making everyone save for Eshe jump out of their skin. Aerin stands with a fist forward, with the most bewildered look.“You got fast.” Eshe grins with nearly invisible teeth.Aerin slowly looks over, the bones of her left hand slowly releasing the stored power,”Did I...”“The hell was that?” You rub at one of your ears, being the closest to the sound.“A broken barrier.” Eshe looks to you, and the understanding clicks at once. Aerin just broken the sound barrier with a punch. Something new every moment, right?“Holy shit...” Hot Rod stares, stricken with awe and a touch of envy. He's still evaluating what he should focus on, it seems.Lights of the Aurora pass overhead, slowly tinting the night with their colors...> It's always been kind of magical...> It's saccharine. Ushering in an age of chaos with its beauty.> Never really did like it. Can't much see the stars anymore.> (Other)
>>30132886> It's always been kind of magical...Say what you will about the magic it brought, it's still a beautiful sight up there.
>>30132886>It's saccharine. Ushering in an age of chaos with its beauty.
Not the most important question, but it pertains to personality a bit. Any tiebreakers?
>>30132886Eh. I'll go ahead and break it, then.> It's saccharine. Ushering in an age of chaos with its beauty.
It's a saccharine sight. When it first appeared on the day prophesied to be the end, everyone paniced. There were riots in some of the more major cities. People committed suicide rather than face the end, some stayed and prayed with loved ones, and others let went in for the hedonism, getting their rocks off before they kicked the bucket. By the end of the first day, shit was a wreck, and there were reports overseas that things were getting even worse in the middle-east because of it.The news presented dozens of scientific explanations that all apparently made sense, when people calmed down they eventually purchased black curtains to keep from seeing it. The riots eventually broke down with a whole lot of missing people... Hell, they probably awakened. You?Where were you in that whole mess?> I joined with some of the riots. Shit was intense. The goddamn riot police wasn't having it after a week though.> I went all out for some hedonism. Didn't want to die a virgin after all.> Did the same shit I always did, just kind of avoided the riots. Nothing you could do about the end. Other people picked up on that too.>(Write in)
>>30133546> I went all out for some hedonism. Didn't want to die a virgin after all.
>>30133546> I went all out for some hedonism. Didn't want to die a virgin after all.We might not have thought the world was going to end, it was a possibility we were aware of though. But even if it wasn't going to end with that many other people afraid it was all over there were plenty of opportunities to enjoy ourself.
>>30133629So, "Took advantage of other people's stupidity to get his jollies"? Sounds like Asher to me.
>>30133738One of the main reasons why I chose it. He figured that the Aurora was kinda weird, he might have considered the world ending as a possibility, but not one he could do anything about. But he could do something about all of the panicking people looking for a chance to have fun for the last time, he could take advantage of that to get free stuff, alcohol and drugs, and copious amounts of sex.
You might not be exactly proud of it, but you went all in for the carnal pleasures. All you had to do was follow the music, get to the club, undress, and there they were. Clusters of drugged up bodies heaving against each other, and you just joined the pile.Everything was a blur amidst whatever you took, the beating of the music and nothing else mattered for one good night. There was a girl there, you don't remember her name, and you doubt she even heard yours, but you woke up, still inside her... And someone inside you.You look down at that thought, shaking your head at it. Yeah, that was really fucking awkward. That was probably the most lucid and desperate group of people at the time though. Safest place you could be. Throwing up after that didn't even seem so bad when you heard what the rest of America was doing. You had thoughts to get back in the pile, but you just went on home after that, letting whatever was going to- fall apart. Lucid, it's a good feeling.Staring at the ground, you notice a change take place, an out of place glow? It's warm like the setting sun, but at the same time much dimmer. You bring your one-eyed gaze down to the world below and can't help but smirk.“Well, that our signal?”The City's been based in an ephemeral flame, pouring throughout the city-streets and stretching out far to the east along the main road and barely touching the side-streets.Eshe nods,”Yes, that would be it.”Time to move.=======================================You put your feet to the moist pavement, subconsciously aware of all the moisture that still exists in this place. Everybody moves at a steady pace, unpowered to avoid lighting up like a light for some dumbass soldier to pick off.
The five of you slip between cover in the side-streets, keeping a low profile as you advance between the debris from skyscrapers and the waterlogged cars of dead people that barely even owned them. It's slow work without using magic, you'd figure at least for Veins and Bones that can apparently do perform absurd feats. But it's nice and quiet in your area, with frequent explosions and gunfire ringing out from the fire upon the main road.Eshe tells you that it's not real, but it's enough to draw attention, and to scare people. You ask what you should be expecting at the barrivade, as if she would know, and to your surprise, she does.“The first line is a decoy, with few men. If a single group or person breaks through, they are shot like fish in a barrel. We have learned to counter this by attacking in three places.”“What about beyond that? A line after the second?”“Yes, after the second line, is the third. That is where we must get to. Second line has guns and magic. They do not like to risk the magic that they have.”“So what about that group from last night?”“I put down their bird. I had planned to take it, but the demon broke the machine.”“Couldn't magic it back together?”She looks at you with some sort of amused expression with her strangely morphed features,”What do I look like? A magician?”“Point.”As Eshe leads around a corner, you hear a far-off shot and a sudden glimmer from her body as she gets sent backwards into the concrete. You reach out reflexively, with a sudden glimmer of concern. You need her for this after all.Your eyes tell you, that there's no blood.
As Eshe leads around a corner, you hear a far-off shot and a sudden glimmer from her body as she gets sent backwards into the concrete. You reach out reflexively, with a sudden glimmer of concern. You need her for this after all.Your eyes tell you, that there's no blood. Her hand comes up, to usher you back, her black eyes glistening at you,”Stay back, Sniper.”There's another crack, and her body glimmers again, twisting back into cover as the concrete behind her erupts into slag. She shoves in beside you and the others, peering out at the direction the shot came from. Not quite east but a little south too. “They're not at the barricade. We need to pass them or kill them.”“How? They shot as soon as you came around.” Hot Rod whispers harshly, the glow of the far-off fire painting his face. You run the gauntlet in your own mind of things that you could do. Eshe might have a plan, but she couldn't know all of what the people here can do. What you're capable of...> Fara will kill for me.. But can she see the sniper?> Ice Mirror Decoy? That could probably work...> Leave it to the others.> (Another idea?)
>>30134569> Ice Mirror Decoy? That could probably work...See, this is exactly the kind of thing we couldn't do if we took that Oath of the Liar.
>>30134569>Ice mirror decoy>>30134638Yeah I don't know about taking oaths. They're pretty much just a shortcut to a level we could reach anyway, and they impose a permanent penalty.
>>30134569Do we even know where the sniper fire came from? Oh well. If we go with an illusion just make a cloaked figure with no distinguishable features. We might be able to pull that off since it doesn't have a lot of details. Or not I not sure how good we are with illusions yetIf not possible just go with Ice Mirror Decoy.
>>30134569Do we have character sheets for the rest of our companions? Can we use our Water/Illusion powers to make an actual mirror, something we can use to see the sniper with. Because if we can see him, we should be able to summon Fara right on top of him.
>>30134569So, correct me if I'm wrong, but the Ice Decoy is a mix between the Ice-Subspell and Illusion? The Illusion description states that it works better against people from a distance. Since the sniper would have a scope, wouldn't that mean he'd see something wrong with the decoy if we tried to make it look like a person?>>30134743So yeah, it'd be better to try and hide as many features as we can in the decoy.
>>30134758This is a good idea. Try to make one of those spotting mirrors on a stick first.
>>30134786he is at a distance thoughscopes can only magnify so much
>>30134824Speaking of scopes, could we make one with some water/ice? We're good at images, we can do illusions, magnification shouldn't be out of the question.
>>30134824Make a mirror, move a convex bubble around it so we can search along our entire frame of view. If we see the glint of a scope, we just zoom in on that location.
>>30134569>>30134758Good idea.>>30134824But apparently, the sniper is a very good shot considering that he shoots as soon as someone comes out of the corner.>>30134960We can mix this action in with using the Ice Decoy. Make the mirror first and the decoy can try and tease out another shot from the sniper.
Leveling up the water sense would be good. Would let us detect people.QUICK! SOMEONE COME UP WITH A SENSE WATER OATH THING!TH THING!
>>30135001I like this option.
>>30134569Quick question to ask our team, does anyone know how to use a sniper rifle?Because we may as well take advantage of modern weaponry. Hunter with a sniper rifle would be scary if he was a good shot, he's already extremely skilled at stalking a target, getting into good positions to kill from, and so on.
>>30135012Dowsing is a form of divination. Water dowsing, aside from being used to locate water, is also done to search for minerals and deposits. And for more magical related things, ley lines in the earth. Potential. If I had to bullshit up some sort of oath related to that, I guess it could be something like.....an oath of insight or reflection? An oath to never act rashly without proper preparation?
>>30135113So make it so he has to detect something with his water sense before he acts on it, essentially screwing him against stealthy opponents? Not sure if like or not, but I guess it works.
>>30135012Oath of Submergence. So long as a part of your body is submerged in water, your sense would increase. Though it would be reduced to 0 in ever other case.>>30135083Hunter actually knows how to operate a rifle. He may be able to use a sniper rifle to some degree.>>30134940Now's not the time to work out a cantrip, though it's within your realm of ability.Going with sending out the Ice mirror as a distraction. You want to sick Fara on him or just speed through.
>>30135244Depends. How far away can we summon / send her?
>>30135272Most of your spells are based on LoS.As far as Asher knows, Fara can only see what he sees.
>>30135158He'd have to find a work around for it, I'd say. Find partners....bodyguards who can react for him while he stands back and tries to formulate some sort of plan. That or put up several layers of defense and pre-planned maneuvers made for such opponents.>>30135244>>30135272>>30135285It'd be nice to get that sniper rifle....
>>30135285LoS?>>30135244Set Fara on him.
>>30135244Yeah, throw Fara at him, maybe we can get the Sniper Rifle from him.And if we can get LoS using a mirror, do so. Or if our Aquatic Sense goes out far enough to give us a clear picture of him use that to help Fara.
>>30135285Does this mean that thoughtform ravens/birds could be mentally linked to Asher to increase his spell range? How hard would it be to whip up a little scout thoughtform that just looks like a bird?>>30135321Line of sight.
I'd like to introduce you all to the concept of magic-augmented weaponry right about now. Before I go on, I'll let that thought simmer for a bit.
>>30135344That would be pretty simple.
>>30135370Could we do the raven scout instead of the illusion?
>>30135362That's a thing. Any ideas here may be picked up.
>>30135370Sweet, can we do that in the way >>30135344intended, and set Fara on the sniper by using the bird to extend range? If so, yes pls.
>>30135391Why not both? Using the decoy would make it easier to spot the sniper's location, after all.
>>30135393How about the idea of a railgun powered by earth magic with the 'rail' in question being charged with a spell (cast on site) that'll detonate on impact?
>>30135370Ravens are good, they're common in San Diego. Can we send one up now? We know his general position so we can send it there, and if we can see through its eyes that'd be really nice.
>>30135244>Oath of Submergence. So long as a part of your body is submerged in water, your sense would increase. Though it would be reduced to 0 in ever other case. What about an Oath of Blindness? Give up our other eye (or just its ability to see) and force Asher to rely on his summons and aqua sense to perceive the world. How much would that be worth for boosting aqua sense / summoning?
>>30135362Ice bullets, anyone? Never again will you have to worry about ammunition when you can just magically create some!
>>30135244Just put out the illusion. Conserve strength.
>>30135452Or snap-freezing. Bullets that just freeze everything around them solid (including flesh)
>>30135451So like Toph from A:tLA, but with water instead of earth? Might be cool.
>>30135452>>30135487I don't see the point of doing it with an enchanted bullet instead of just doing it directly with a spell.Unless you want to try to turn it into an Oath of /k/ or something where we have to use guns as a middleman for our ice magic.
>>30135451maybe good for places with high humiditybut we're going into a desert
>>30135550Well, it's not like we're the one who's going to use the sniper's rifle, right? And it's easier to rely on tools, anon. It's always easier to use a middle man. Less effort on your part, after all.
>>30135550The idea of a bullet is that you can enchant them before-hand. Indefinitely. Additionally, you can use other things like this (freeze-enchanted grenade, etc.) to set up traps. Spells that trigger without you needing to be there, and with alot less actual presence of magic.
>>30135574People are made of water, and it will evolve to encompass more than just water eventually. Life sense, magic sense, etc.
>>30135642Yes, people are made of water, but we need physical contact to exsanguinate them. And yes, Water will eventually span to cover Life, Knowledge, Creation, Fertility, Rebirth and various other things, but physical water is still something we like having, especially since we're not at the more esoteric bits of Water.Las Vegas is going to be challenging. Hopefully we can stay near pools.
>>30135706>Yes, people are made of water, but we need physical contact to exsanguinate themAnd this isn't about turning them into raisins, this is about replacing vision with water sense.>And yes, Water will eventually span to cover Life, Knowledge, Creation, Fertility, Rebirth and various other things, but physical water is still something we like having, especially since we're not at the more esoteric bits of Water.Having water sense evolve to encompass those other things does not relinquish our control over and ability to sense physical water.>Las Vegas is going to be challenging. Hopefully we can stay near pools.Yep
>>30135706Can we even with physical contact? Most magic systems have a "Blood/Life interferes with magic" thing going on.
>>30135749If we rely on water-sense and magic-sense, we won't be able to see things. Like tripwires.
>>30135874Actually, I was thinking maintaining a very, very light mist for 30 feet around us. Water omniscience, 30 feet
>>30135792It's difficult, we need to power through their magical resistance. But possible.Though a terrible idea, if we're in melee with anyone dangerous something has gone terribly wrong.
>>30135942>As Asher gets stronger, the mist gets bigger>He walks into town, and the mist comes with him>The mist filled with fantastic and horrifying monstersDid... did Asher just become a Stephan King novel?
>>30135994Either mists or blizzards, either would work. Also, it'd be even worse than that, not all of the monsters would be real, we could supplement their numbers with illusions.
>>30135994>>30135942Or we could summon swarms of birds. Massive swarms of bird summons to see and harass anything and everything.
>>30135874Or actually floating eyeball summons. Those are a thing that magical people summon, right?Beholder summon when?Probably a really bad idea to summon beholders, tho
>>30135629I like how no one else comments.
>>30136206I contemplated saying good riddance, but people only make posts like that to troll and attention whore. Only solution is to let them starve.
You begin to weave your spell, gathering a thin sheet of water into ice.“What are you doing?” Hunter looks upon your spell as it's put into work.“Just watch.” Eshe touches her head, as you suit up the ice with an image and move it into position while simoultaneously making another. A shot blows it apart. The second one, there's a delay, but another shot destroys it. Your burn is still light. Doing at least this is easy. The third, isn't shot at all.“We can use this, but it would be better to take him out. He has not moved yet.” Eshe speaks to the group. It's starting to seem that getting pinned down hadn't been part of her agenda. She could take the shot, she could dodge the shot but the rest of you can't do that. The mirror with the still shimmering image floats out in plain sight. You need to know where he is. To do anything, right? Something to see, a bird's eye view, maybe? Yes... Like Odin's ravens, Huginn and Muninn. To see, to know. You focus on that idea, if you can summon Fara, what about a bird?A crystalline structure forms, light and transparent with mist flowing throw its body. It seems to look at you for a moment, relaying crude imagery and the like. With a throw, it flies, searching for the man.Through it, you see people charge amidst a blazing trail, crashing through a wall that should not be, thunder shouting from forged earth and children of men bunkered down against their aggressors. Yet this is not what you would deign to see..=Asher?=I must find the one for you to kill Fara, just wait... Just...The search reveals a long barrel propped up in a building, a man watching, waiting to shoot thunder at his quarry. Yet he would not be eating. This was for the worms...
guns when? i would like single action army revolver
The burn intensifies, yet you call upon Fara to kill the man you've taken notice of. You feel a hand clap onto your shoulder as Fara leaves your side, coming into form as she rides upon the night air, homing in on her target.“We are good to go now?” Eshe asks, looking over your profile as the raven begins to take its toll.=It is dead.=You nod to Eshe. Bring back the gun. Then dissolve the Raven. The team moves once more, Helia takes watch over you, coming close.“Tell us what you're doing next time, okay? We can help too-”Fara's ghastly form descends upon your troope, a frozen claw stained red, her face different since you've given her more power. The slight glow of eyes lies in her profile now, matched by a crack in her slate giving the appearance of a frozen Jack-O-Lantern.She drops the rifle before you and you look right at Hot Rod,” Feel like sniping?”The kid looks over the gun, its size, its length. It's an anti-material rifle. Would normally take a team of two to three to set up.=Two, killed them.=You swallow, that's good.Hot Rod takes the rifle, hoisting it up onto his shoulder with the gleam of his magic improving his strength. Glowing just dimly enough to not be seen. “I think I could do something, yeah.”“Good. Next sniper, you're countering them.”Hot Rod nods, and the team moves closer to the barricade as the Followers breach, you can see the flames from here, and the walls. It seems that they've got a good mage on their side, needs to be a Nerve. There, walls are formed up from concrete, cars, and whatever else must have been available. Shots rattle out a mile a minute from beyond, the obvious chaos from the assaults heard from beyond the breach. Men screaming and silenced...,Yet this wall lies before you...Eshe touches it, feeling it with her palms,”No enchantment, just debris. We can break through, or we can find a way to slip past. I am fine with either, I will leave this to you.
>>30136600>find a way to slip pastSave our magic for when we really need it
>>30136600>=It is dead.=>ItDamn Fara, you cold
>>30136600Fara is best girl. She kills people for us and doesn't complain. Make sure to tell her she did a good job. Maybe give her the mental communication equivalent of a head pat. What exactly does Helia do? Has she worked it out? She threw some projectiles, but I don't think that's everything.
>>30136600slip past itI don't think we're into the making a scene business right now
Aerin rolls one of her shoulders,”I could try punching through.” “And I would help.” Eshe nods to her.“We should just climb. I could handle that.” Hunter looks up at the wall. It's roughly fifteen feet, maybe more.Eshe looks to Helia,” You could try your hand at opening it.”“I could... Couldn't I?” She seems a bit uncertain.> Jump/Cimb over it with. Hunter.> Have Helia open it for everyone.> The Bones can smash through.> Try something yourself...
>>30136776>> Jump/Cimb over it with. Hunter. Can Fara fly us over? And by us I mean ASher and no one else because she would get too tired.
>>30136776>Have Helia open it for everyoneShe needs to have a role too.
>>30136776> Have Helia open it for everyone.Everyone else got to be cool. Time for he to do something.ooorrrrrrr> Try something yourself...Ice staircase?mostly joking
What exactly did Helia do with her powers? Because, while I feel like I'm getting this wrong, her powers seemed very similar to a weaker version of pic related. Even the part where she was using her magic to hold her torn-up body together.
>>30136776> Have Helia open it for everyone.I think she can handle it, climbing makes us a sitting duck for any snipers we don't know about. Also, if we don't know what's on the other side we should do a quick scout of the location with a raven.
>>30136776>Have Helia open it for everyoneShe was just telling us a bit ago that she could help. Here's her chance.
>>30136871who is that?
>>30136912Some faggot from a shitty anime/a/ loves to jerk him off and make up insane things he MIGHT be able to do because of his power to control vectors. Mostly bullshit
>>30136912Accelerator, from To Aru Majutsu no Index.
>>30136776Let Helia open it up.
>>30136776> Have Helia open it for everyone
>Helia performs Open Sesame...Let's see how it goes.
>>30136938Just looked it up. I don't like that. Though there will be a character similar coming up soon. Just not as grossly overanime-powered.
>>30137236The power of friendship trumps all, Dranule.
>>30137286Not even sure if Asher believes in friendship.
>>30137286not in this quest
You stare at Helia for some moments, “Do it,” your eyes flicker at the obstacle. She rubs her hands uncomfortably, nodding slowly,”Alright, okay, I'll see what I can do.”As she steps up, Eshe leans over to speak with her,”Flow into it, and then separate it. This is what Friend would say to do.”“Got it.”Under watch from the entire group, Helia's body glows with a silver-white light as she places her hands upon the wall.=She's entering.=You look away into the air, attempting to regard Fara before realizing she's not really“there.”Back to Helia's progress, you see the wall begin to move, altering itself and swelling before distorting and eventually crumbling out of the way. With a final push, she clears the hole, and Eshe slips in front of her, a gunshot ringing out a second later, as Eshe charges down the line, an arc erupting from her fingers and putting the gunner down.“Move!”That's the call to push forward. Everyone runs as fast as they can clearing the breach. On the other side, you see grand spells and apparitions destroying the opposition, leaving your flank mostly unattended.Eshe rushes forward, putting her power on, zipping forward with a sea-green glow, and touching the soldiers that place her in their sights, electric convulsions running through their bodies as they're put down.
>>30137856Eshe is now Blanka. I approve.
>>30137950Street fighter character. Really fast green dude who could shock people.
Currently reading through the archives, finished thread 5.Ashers Mythos powers and the nature of oaths reminded me of Metahuman Renaissance Quest 8&9 - Particularly this Pact made with a Spirit of knowledge, which might translate well in an Oath"Will you always seek knowledge and truth, regardless of the danger? Will you pass what you know to others?"Not -exactly- Ashers style, but worth considering, since Oaths seem to require a penalty
>>30138135I say FUCK OATHSwe don't need them
>>30138183That's just crippling ourselves short-term for something that may never even be relevant.
>>30138183I say you're going to get us killed. Oaths can give us a lot of power, we can't really afford to turn it down.>>30138135I do like the always seeking knowledge and truth, not so sure about passing it on for him.
>>30138209It's also crippling ourselves short AND long term for something that probably WILL be relevant
>>30138209Or you could see it as we do, crippling ourselves long term for a power increase achievable through experience.
>>30138183>The bone of her nose and brow bear a faint glimmering lavender,"He speaks true. I see no lies in his eyes or body. We should teach him an oath. The Oath of Truth would be my suggestion, but it is he who needs to decide."for some reason, I thought an oath would be a requirement, reading this again, I suppose it isn't.No Oaths is fine by me
You do your own part calling upon Fara to manifest with her stored power. You may help me by killing them.=So kill I shall.=Her wispy form howls away, rending the soldiers with her frozen claws.Hunter and Helia stay close, the latter immediately performing her meditative breaths to clean herself. The second barricade lies before your group, lesser manned as the main attack's pulled away their firepower. No wall this time, just wire barricades, and heaps of sandbags piled up around bunkers.“No one's manning, Hot Rod, keep your eye on.”“Right Asher.” The kid hoists the anti-material rifle to his shoulder, aligning it forward and keeping an eye out for opposition. That second barricade needs cleared, you think to yourself.Eshe charges forward, grips the razor-wire with her bare hands and tears it apart, uncut, letting it part. You rush through the killzone, as fast as your feet will carry you, vaulting over the sandbags and just about landing on your face from a fumble. Aerin props you up,”Go, go!”Yeah, I fuckin' know. You growl to yourself, forcing yourself onward.Third barricade, this is the moment of truth. After this, is what they'd think is a safe-zone. This is where the helicopters would land...Third barricade... You see a crimson streak fly through the air at a distance, you remember that color. That fucking color. It's not coming for you, thank fucking... What role DOES God play in all this?No time for that. It's getting bad over there, and that demon-bitch is some kind of game-changing psycho as far as you're concerned. Move, legs Move!
>>30138234Yes, but someone who takes Oaths will be more powerful than someone who doesn't, even if they have the same experience total. We are putting ourselves on the back foot, and it will cripple us throughout the entire game. If you want to get to Master that's 16 experience points from Expert, or you could spend those 16 getting something to Expert and use an Oath to up an Expert Skill to Master. And that's with just 1 Oath. With another one they're both at Master. This is looking longterm, and longterm Oaths give a massive power boost, they can literally have twice as many Spells at Master as someone who doesn't take Oaths for the same amount of Experience, for a cost that we can live with.
Shots ring out and Fara swarms in front of you to take them with her own frozen body. You feel a hand at the back of your head,”Down!” Helia screams as you find yourself in the middle of another killzone. An icy sheet piles over you, gunfire ripping off of the surface.=Won't last much longer... Make them stop!=> Supply Fara with more power.> Summon up a cover of steam.> Force up a wall of Ice.> (Other)
>>30138329>> Force up a wall of Ice.And why are we sniping humans with a Anti-materiel rifle?
Rolled 6>>30138329> (Other)Ice darts. Have Fara fire small shards of Ice, while supplying her with the power to do so.
>>30138329How many people around us can we sense with aquakinesis? Can we make Illusions of human forms using steam as a medium? I'm thinking we can unsummon Fara quickly, throw up a pile of steam, have illusions of people running in it, draw their fire away, and give us a chance to counter attack and scatter.
>>30138352Whoops, didn't mean to roll. Disregard that, please.
>>30138329My first instinct is to use earth magic to sink into the ground, but we can't do that. And since I'm wary of fara getting too powerful and turning on us, > Force up a wall of Ice.>>30138345It's all we have.
>>30138345Because Bones can increase their durability to inhuman levels.Eshe got hit in the head by it and got right back up.Conventional warfare is a lot less meaningful when a person is augmented to be like a tank.>>30138370Aquakinesis does not currently allow you to sense people.Though you can use steam as a medium and create something like shadows moving throughout.Mind the fact that this is going into the night as the attack was made at dusk. Its quite dark right now.
>>30138441Excellent. I think a mist might be better if we can do it, it allows us to make an Ice Wall as well, and send Fara out to hunt down those bastards shooting us. We can cover her advance with illusions in the mist, she'll look like just another shadow in the mist until she comes out and rips their throats out like the good girl she is.
>>30138329> Supply Fara with more power.>>30138327We've already discussed this with the QM. Oaths are not the long term solution. A person that hard-levels up to Expert and takes an oath may be "just as powerful" as a person that hard-levels up to Master, but they will be more limited in application. And taking an oath in any spell that you plan to take to Divine rank will permanently weaken it when compared to a Divine spell from a person with no oath.Oaths are short-med term power boosts. They cripple you in the long game.Oaths are a good idea for spells we are never going to max out, but if we ever want to max it out an oath is a poor idea for that spell. It would be better to take oaths in the spells we aren't going to max and use those boosted spells as a crutch to get towards maxing out the un-oathed spell.
>>30138329I do like murder-Fara, but pushing her too much right now might be a bad plan.> Summon up a cover of steam.Puts Asher at a bit of risk of a stray bullet, but might let our team set up for a counter.
>>30138490I don't think we'll be getting that many skills to Divine. For most of the stuff we want to level up an Oath would benefit them. Sure, we have to be careful about them, but going Oathless is not a good idea.
>>30138490>And taking an oath in any spell that you plan to take to Divine rank will permanently weaken it when compared to a Divine spell from a person with no oath.I don't remember this being so much as implied.
>>30138557I wasn't the anon that was going "ALL OATHLESS FUCK OATHS".I'm just saying that there is merit to not oathing out all our spells.
>>30138566It was outright stated in the last thread, not just implied.
>>30138490Yeah, I'd say oaths make more sense for utility type magic. If we are forced into a situation where we have to break an oath, I don't want to be completely gimped in a fight.
>>30138566If an Oath is broken at divine, it will be brought back down to master until it is repaired.
>>30138441Unless the bullet it also augmented to be like a tank-buster in pistol form~
>>30138634That has nothing to do with what he said, though.
>>30138566Mage 1 can summon Cthulu whenever he wants.Mage 2 can summon Cthulu whenever his oath dictates he can.Mage 1 is more powerful.
Can we just get back to playing instead of arguing. I'm fairly sure we're not going to be making Oaths anytime soon
>>30138668Yes it does.An oathless divine and oathed divine are equal in power. However the oathed will have a limitation in how he can use that power or a prior condition to fulfill so that the power does not fall from that level. An oathless power at divine is not limited by that facet.>>30138672Yep.
>>30138690I'd like to stop putting off taking them. It isn't hard to do, when we get a break point we should.
>>30138710No, it doesn't. If he can repair the oath, he isn't "permanently weakened." He's weaker IF his oath is broken. And for that matter, even if he couldn't he isn't weaker unless he breaks it.
>>30138742Please tell the QM more about how his setting works.
>>30138710>>30138742He's right, in a way. It's not 'permanently weakened', but limited. But, it would be 'weakened' if the limitation was severe enough to impede its use.Can you give example limitations so that we can better grasp how an oath may affect the situation?>>30138779That was uncalled for, anon. Don't be childish.
>>30138742Having ever taken an oath makes the mage weaker overall at Divine rank.If he breaks the oath, he drops down to master rank.If he doesn't break the oath, it limits his ability to use his power and makes him weaker than an oathless Divine by comparison. If he breaks it and then repairs it, he's below Divine until he repairs it and then even when he does get back up to Divine, he's still limited by the oath again. Also, >arguing with the QM about his own system
>>30138799His point was that the spell in itself would not be weakened, just the ability to cast it whenever. That does not mean, however, that one would be weaker. It depends on the circumstance and what the restriction is.
>>30138779>>30138799I expected someone to say that, but it still doesn't have any value.
>>30138795Uncalled for? He's trying to tell Dranule how oaths work, when Dranule decided how oaths work. By the way, if you're going to use words like childish, you may want to check them in a dictionary first, because it doesn't really fit there.
How Dranule how do YOU feel about this? I value your own opinion, seeing as how this is YOU setting after all.
>>30138851Several people have pointed out how people who take oaths end up weaker then people who don't. If you still haven't recognized this even after the QM confirmed it I don't know what to do for you man. You're just beyond help.
I'd like to point out that we are at a very action-heavy part of the story. Perhaps it would be wise to continue the story and discuss of oath options after the mission.
>>30138854Yeah.....this was a pretty childish response too.He wasn't arguing with how the system works, FYI.
>>30138845And my point is that the mage would be weaker.Yeah, the spell is just as good oathed or unoathed.Just like a car is technically just as good as an identical car chained to an anchor. Still technically the same car, but the one with the anchor chained to it is going to be worse to drive.
>>30138869No, what he wanted to say was that it was "more limited," not "weaker." Unless he wants to change how his system works just to spite me, which is stupid.
>>30138882That analogy doesn't fit, however, since the anchor would be actively slowing down the car.A better example would be a car with a wheel that's harder to turn.
>>30138869I wouldn't say that they end up weaker. Yes, their power has a restriction on it, and it can suck if they break it. But, they also can have a lot more skills at high levels than someone who doesn't take Oaths. Each Oath can save up to 16 XP to be devoted towards leveling other stuff. To make up for the restrictions on some of their powers in exchange they have a lot more powers to choose from.
>>30138914You aren't differentiating between the spells themselves and the people that use them. The spells themselves are equal. The mage that is limited in his ability to use the spells is weaker.
>>30138881You really should get that dictionary anon. I'm embarrassed and I'm not even you.>>30138914More limited is weaker, guy.
>>30138868I'd like for more discussion about what kind of oaths to associate with magic. Also, if you can think of any natural extensions of Asher's current spellset, it will be added to his possible unlearned spells at a relevant point in the story.>>30138930>>30138931This is so.The weakness is due to the limitation. The spell itself does not necessarily suffer. If there's an oath that forces something to be cast at a certain time of day, or after performing an action, that in itself limits the usage of divine rank. It's true that oaths are better reserved for spells that you do not intend to bring to Divine.
>>30138710I believe "Ice Wall" currently has the lead. Since no one is voting anymore, maybe we should just continue like that.
>>30138952Fine. If you really want to, call them the same thing. It's not suggested, but I don't care. I have better things to do than argue about this.
>>30138976>If there's an oath that forces something to be cast at a certain time of day, or after performing an action, that in itself limits the usage of divine rank. Those are some sample limitations. What else are there?>>30138931There's such a thing as a negligible difference.
>>30138980If we can throw up mist, which shouldn't be hard, we should do that as well as the ice well. It'll keep us safe, and give us a chance to counter attack. We'll want to send illusions throw the mist to cover our movements.
>>30138998I haven't seen an oath yet that is negligible. I doubt one exists, as that would let us cheat the system.
It doesn't matter how negligable it is at Divine. An oath does NOTHING positive once you get above Expert rank. Once you hard level to Master or Divine, your oath will give no positives and still force you to deal with the negatives.
>>30139018Negligible according to the situation you would use it in.
>>30138976Could Asher learn something to play with pressure or gravity as some point?>>30139027Okay, then we just won't take an oath in Summoning, since we probably want to max it out.
>>30138998The entire point of oaths is that they aren't negligible. Any oath that could be considered negligible would give little to no bonus to your magic.
>>30138998There's a lot of them. An OathOne would require we have some kind of food offering for our summons, doesn't matter what type of food it was or if they could eat it. Just means we need to keep some trail mix on us.Treat our summons with respect, as sentient creatures. Also, it'll probably make summons like us more since we'd have an Oath binding us to not be a dick to our summons. And Oath of Selfishness, because it's interesting. >>30139027So don't take it on Oaths you intend to get to Divine, or just accept that the restriction of the Oath isn't that bad.
>>30139043>Okay, then we just won't take an oath in Summoning, since we probably want to max it out. That would be cool with me. Take oaths in the other skills for short term power, but hard-level summoning for the long term power.
>>30139047The QM just gave some examples of a limitation, however. Oaths that limit the number of times you can cast a spell. Depending on what the spell is and on what situations you would use it in, it would be completely negligible.
I would enjoy an Oath of Selfishnesscould be funny and interestingshame i'm the only one
>>30139058>So don't take it on Oaths you intend to get to DivineWhich was the point I brought up at the start of this conversation. Glad to see that we're in agreement now.
Under fire, the ice barrier begins to chip away, some rounds actually making it through in the spray. With magnesium tracer rounds the only that you see amidst the darkness. With a sudden outburst of power, and a sudden sear through your nerves as the energy flows, you summon up a wall of ice, formed from moisture in the air. It hurts, immediately proving severe, though giving you and Fara a moment of respite with your companions as the gunfire continues to beat away at the wall, until stopping abruptly.A jam? Or are they waiting? You can barely make out their location. Not that you could do much about it with the state you just put yourself in...Hunter goes prone and swings the rifle to the side, his shoulder, arm and chest bracing for impact as he pulls the trigger on the weapon, letting his shot erupt from the muzzel, forcing him back despite his power. In the distance a man explodes.“Eshe got the others, let's go.”You wheeze with your own pain, the magic not receding from your arms and hands,”Gonna need.. a little help here.”Helia picks you up,”We need to help ourselves right?”You smirk to yourself, though grimace all the same as you gesture to the stupidly large ice-wall recently peppered by machine fire.“Ah.” She lends you her shoulder, and the two of you move through the killzone, following Eshe's greenish blur as she takes down more soldiers, beginning to show some kind of slowing down. You can only imagine that she must be starting to hurt right now. The numbness begins to fade and you can deal with running on your own two feet again.
>>30139065I would not consider an oath to be negligible if it prevents you from casting at all for any sizable chunk of time.
>>30139103But what spell? What would you use it on? Why would you take such an oath for a spell that you would want to cast multiple times in quick succession?
>>30139116I wouldn't want to take an oath like that. I think it's a horrible idea. The problem is that some people here seem to think it is a good idea to limit yourself like that for a short term power boost.
>>30139061Sure. The spells I think we'll most want to get to Divine would be Water. Water branches into a lot of really cool stuff, and Divine on it would probably let us just create new life. The other big candidate I'm thinking of would be Summoning. I'd prioritize Ice and Illusion for Oaths, and Aquatic Perception as well, could move into interesting things like Scrying and other divination.
>>30139129Most people have suggested oaths that are a little less specific. Like selfishness, or there was one about rhyming that was shot down because this is a sneaking mission.
>>30139129>I wouldn't want to take an oath like that. I think it's a horrible idea.Like what?
You're almost to the next barricade, though Eshe's pulled rather far ahead... The way is clear, but, this is almost starting to seem too easy...> Rush on ahead. You're almost in the clear.> Get Helia or Hunter on guard, take the time to advance.> Summon Fara again... She's running low, but she'll be useful for something.> (Other)[Burn: Severe]
>>30139116If the oath doesn't have an effect it won't give a boost. If we take an oath saying we won't cast a spell multiple times in quick succession for a spell which we couldn't/wouldn't do that anyway, it would have no effect, since we're effectively not limiting ourselves. We can't cheat the system.
>>30139147The ones that limit you to casting only during certain times of the day.Or the ones Dranule mentioned last thread where the lunar cycle determines the strength of your magic.
>>30139164>> Get Helia or Hunter on guard, take the time to advance.
>>30139164>Get Helia or Hunter on guard, take time to advance.Severe burn and still can't take bullets, lets not take chances.
>>30139164Can we summon up the raven again? Or would the burn on it be bad since we haven't charged it up?
>>30139164> Get Helia or Hunter on guard, take the time to advance.>>30139188I don't think Asher ever will be able to take bullets
>>30139143>Aquatic PerceptionBeen meaning to say. This will automatically progress through Hydromancy.>>30139043>play with pressure or gravity as some point?Pressure would be associated with gravity to an extent. and Gravity would be associated with Earth, though if you link the movement of water to luna, you'll be able to learn something akin to gravity, enough to learn it by itself and lead into earth.
>>30139164> Get Helia or Hunter on guard, take the time to advance.I don't want Asher to take point when we have two perfectly good tanks right next to us.
>>30139129There's a lot of possible oaths. We're not taking that one.And I wouldn't call it a short-term power boost, if you don't take it to Divine, and only want it at Master, you save 16 Limit points, enough to raise something else to Expert, with 1 point left over. It's a tradeoff, we do have to deal with the Oath, but that isn't really a bad thing, it adds character, but we have a much wider array of skills, which assuming we keep up on our Oaths will all be strong for how many Limit Points we've spent.
>>30139213>though if you link the movement of water to lunaWait, what does that even mean?
>>30139201maybe at some point we can block/avoid them automatically
>>30139166But that way of thinking is wrong as well, since the ones you'd want to cast in rapid succession would be the smaller scale spells like......magic bullet. For something like....say....a spell to mimic the effect of a flash bang, it'd be fine to limit the number of times you could use it.
>>30139237Luna, the Moon, has a noticeable effect on Earth's tides. It's a big object relatively close by, at least in astronomical terms. The Sun also has some effect on the tides, along with the rotation of the earth.
>>30139237The moon. It pushes and pulls the tides of the sea. Upgrade water, you get the potential to learn gravity without using Earth as the connecting factor.
>>30139274>Upgrade waterOh, okay.
>>30139266And that would have no effect on the spell. We wouldn't spam flash bang spells normally, so an oath like that would give it no extra power.
>>30139253We might be able to do water armor or something, maybe. People have already discussed water/ice weapons, so it probably wouldn't be too far out of the question.
>>30139350Materia Firma could probably lead into all sorts of magical equipment bullshit.
>>30139367It will. I asked about using Mythos Summoning to get magical legendary armour/trinkets, and Dranule said that that would be from Materia Firma.
>>30139367I always did say we should have taken it.
“Stay at my side, you two. I'm not liking the looks of this.” You hiss out in pained breaths to Helia and Hot-rod. As they keep an eye on the flanks.Helia's picked up quite a few shards of ice, prepared to through them. Hot Rod in turn keeps his rifle at the ready.Eshe's advancement puts her out of sight with Aerin falling back to the three of you, as you come to the barricade.“Eshe said that she'll get the heli, we need to find a safe spot! She's getting the heli, come on!”“Can she really fly the thing?!” You gasp out, feeling sweat beading upon your brow as your body slowly cools itself down.“She better, it's way worse than I thought this'd be. This place is a freaking war-” You hear far-off shouts, and a bolt of lightning ozoning the atmosphere. Fara materializes in an instant, diverting the bolt as she shrieks in pain.=Hurts- It Hurts... Asher, I can do no more for now.=Fuck, Fara's down... You squint at the source of the bolt, the tingling sensation upon the air still quite present. Shining eyes at the far end of the range, a pair of others forming up alongside the nerve's flanks as he dives back into cover, the other operatives charging forward as Hot Rod lines up a shot.“One in cover first.”The kid seems to detach himself for a moment as he takes the shot, losing himself for a moment as the cover explodes along with the nerve. The other two are undeterred. Both rush at your group, covered head to toe at high speed.
>>30139299Why would it have no effect?
>>30139679We owe Fara, again. She's really useful. And good job Hot Rod, geeking the Nerve first. Shouldn't be any more lightning bolts coming down. What are we up against? Bones? Veins? One of each?
They're going in for the takedown, obviously experienced. This isn't going to go down the way you want it.One could be a bone, the other a vein, or it could be both of one. Worst case, they're bother Bones, or would veins be worse? Fuck. They're at one hundred meters, or about. Fara's down. Helia, Hot Rod, Aerin. What could they do? What could you do?> Give them orders...> Let them do what they need to.> (Other)
>>30139870> Give them orders...Okay, we have to deal with this tactically. We want to divide, and conquer, they're experienced, and likely have worked together before, letting them work together is very bad for us. Start raising up a mist around us and collecting water. Once they get closer have the mists cover us and illusions appear to force them to split their attentions.Helia should use the time before they get here to shoot some projectiles. Aim for the legs of one of them, try to make him stumble and force his team mate to approach alone or to slow down. If Hunter can get another shot or two off, he should go for it. If he can't, then drop the rifle, or use it as a club, I don't care, hide in the mists, and look for a good chance to ambush one of them.Aerin acts like an anvil, she punches one of them in the face, tries to force him away from his buddy, and occupies their attention for long enough to Hunter to backstab them or Helia to fill them with shards of ice.
>>30139870I'd say we try to stack our odds. If Hot Rod can focus on one target with the rifle, we can stack ourselves 3v1 against one guy. Also, between Asher, Aerin, and Helia, we have a Nerve/Vein/Bone combo, which means we can counter whoever we are fighting.
>>30139966The only issue I have with this is that Asher is burning up right now. I don't even know if he can pull off the mist+illusions. Also, what's he going to be doing to keep out of harm's way? Just hidin in the mist and praying that the enemies stay occupied with our minions?
>>30140001>I don't even know if he can pull off the mist+illusionsHe probably can, but he'll collapse soon after
>>30139966Also, adding to my post here, the distance attacks might force them to use some magic and reveal what they are, so we know who should focus on who. Though I'm worried about an enemy Bone devouring our fog, or the illusions in it, I hope they're Veins because we could infect them. >>30140001Aquatic Perception is helpful for staying alive, it means we know where everyone in the mists are, and can hopefully draw them away from us with illusions or sic someone on them.Other than that, keep our head down, don't get hit.
>>30139715Why would it have an effect?
>>30139966I can support this.
“Helia, slow left. Hot Rod, shoot right. Aerin, step in!” You cycle out the commands, and they all put themselves into action at the words as if they've done all this before.Aerin weaves in, putting herself between the guy on the right and the group just as Hot Rod lets his rifle explode with another payload, his power brimming to keep him steady. The bogey on the right takes the shot, it glancing off of his skin as their bones erupt with a red-violet. That's one identified.Helia sends her own ice at the other, yet it's too slow, with a step, he bypasses it, proving her effort futile as he forcibly closes the distance. She begins to panic, though seems to try her hand at keeping her breathing steady and calm. As she brings herself down, touching the concrete, with her hands glowing bright.Without sparing a word, you force out more of your own power, laying out a thick mist upon the air, even as you begin to lose faculty in your fingers, vision in the darkness blurring. Not yet, not quite yet, you grit your teeth, as the enemies seems to slow their advance upon the group, the unknown, slipping around out of sight beyond your fog. You see the green flash of Aerin going toe to toe with the red-violet bone. Just outside. That's when you realize that the burning glow of your own body must be visibly under these conditions.Shit! You feel a rock grab the back of your head and push you out of the way, sending you tumbling a bit.
Regaining your faculties, despite the loss of movement in your right arm, you see that as the mist clears, some kind of rock monster, or golem seems to be bear-hugging one of the aggressors. Whilst getting clawed at and torn by the supernatural human, it's unwilling to relent. You realize that Helia's not in sight.Logic dictates, it's her. Fuck, she found a way to actually be useful. You'd be smiling like a shithead if your headache wasn't so fucking bad right now.More explosive shots erupt from Hot Rod's barrel, and you cast a watery coil to get his attention even as your magic's gotten unbearable. “ Shoot the other!” You scream, and he moves into position, emptying a shot into the back of the captured man, forcing his head to collide with the golem, and the shot itself to splatter his grey everywhere.Hot Rod is nearly put down by the recoil, shaking himself off from the impact,”Fuck!”The golem trembles, beginning to fall apart.Rising to your knees,”This isn't over yet!” You point to the one that Aerin's occupied a bone.Problem with their matchup is that they're both martial fighters. You don't much about those arts, but you can tell at a glance that even sportsfighting doesn't hold up against military engineered methods of killing. During your lack of attention, Aerin's gotten her face bashed in, and an arm broken, though she just won't quit. It's enough said that the enemy is tearing her apart. He goes in for a finish, as Hot Rod realigns his rifle for another shot, only it doesn't explode like it's been. No rounds.> Watch Aerin die.> Go in with a spell.> (Other)
>>30140287>> Watch Aerin die.IT BEGINS
>>30140051I don't think mist would have much to devour, since magic is only needed to set it up, not sustain it. Dealing with bones as a nerve seems to be about avoiding static uses of magic that linger and can be eaten, using instantaneous, indirect applications of power. (I was wonder if moving stone [yes I know Asher can't do that yet] to entomb a bone would work. obviously most bones seem to be physically capable of escaping, but it would slow them down and help isolate them from their allies)I was also thinking an oath on fire would work for Asher, since he wouldn't otherwise focus on it, and his utility/flexibility needs are met through other avenues. Sacrifice it's aspects as a creative force and only use it's destructive capabilities. Fire is a symbol of life, rebirth, human creativity, mastery of nature, and the tool used to fashion more tools. Sacrifice that, and you are only left with it's ability to create awe, fear, pain, destruction, and death. Is that something you can Oath to, Dranule?>>30140276

>>30140287> Go in with a spell. She's been useful. She occupied his attention for long enough to get the other one killed. Make a sharp piece of ice and aim for the neck. Try not to melt our brain in the process.
>>30140287> Go in with a spell.Surprise Steam in his face! Fuck with his finish, and then Hunter and Helia murder him from behind. If Aerin has time she'll recover just fine, as long as she doesn't die.
>>30140287Errr.... Hm. Uh.What is our burn at right now? Super severe?
>>30140287>> Watch Aerin die.Sorry, but no. We're way past our burn limit.
>>30140312>Sacrifice it's aspects as a creative force and only use it's destructive capabilities. That would actually work, and not be constrained to fire. Sacrificing an aspect of it is something that can be done, but only after learning that aspect. At Novice, you require physical water to do anything with.Later is when you can take on more from it.>>30140312>I don't think mist would have much to devour, since magic is only needed to set it up, not sustain it.This is also true. Static magic is something that Bones find easy to devour. Bursts of magic are much more difficult for them to do anything about. They can still potentially absorb it, though blocking it becomes more efficient at that point.A nerve can still kill a bone if they "magic" the right way. It's just a bit harder than normal for these glass cannons.Anyway, it seems that the consensus is a spell. >>30140385 Still Severe.None<Mild<Moderate<Severe<Critical<FatalThe ice wall required a lot of ambient moisture+ freezing to compensate at the time. Set him pretty high pretty quick at his current skill level.
>>30140415So, if we were to take an oath right now for either Ice or Steam or water or something that locked it into offense only, would we even be able to do anything with it or is the burn just too much?
>>30140442Enough steam for a distraction is still possible, Oath or no.
>>30140415I'm glad it isn't critical. After this we're kinda running on empty, hopefully it's the last encounter for a while.
>>30140460So, would it be possible to take an oath of not using steam as a distraction thing, but only use it with the intent to burn the shit out of the target? If so, I think that we might be able to take that, burn the other bone's face, and tell Hotrod + Helia to go for the kill before we collapse.
>>30140287Tell the minions to try something, remind Helia that veins can do the slippy trick to bones, go for the surprise steam.
You pick up your hand even as your head throbs, warning you against further magic use. A steady breath through gritted teeth. For the moment, everything seems to slow down, even the bone's like he's moving in slow motion, and your body, molasses.Your fingers burn with the painful power, as the air quivers, the idea of steam forming before the actual surge of water and heat manifest, bursting through the air faster than your fangers can even flex into grip to brace you against the pain. For this instant the world is absolutely surreal, and you can almost feel the echoes of what's taking place around you. The pain, the displaced earth, a rifle stolen from its master. The steam lands right in the enemy's face, even as the adrenaline gushes through his veins, you can see his exposed flesh bubbling from the exceedingly scalding impact. There's a flinch in him, somewhere, and Aerin sees, slippping herself inside of the man's reach, bearing the glance of the steam and letting a green straight fly like a shooting star, rocking the world with the pound of a sonic boom, twisting the man's head and jaw backwards. The world speeds up, and the man's body flies back, a limp rag-doll of the superhuman it once was.All targets down, and you can't move your hands.Stepping up slowly, you see that in the distance, there's movement from others, stirring to the noises your breach has caused.> Push through the Barricade to find Eshe> Fall back and wait for a pickup.> Hold Ground.
>>30140592> Fall back and wait for a pickup.Fall back, get to somewhere safe, and defensible if possible, and with enough room for the helicopter to land.
>>30140592>>30140628Sounds good. Maybe have Hunter take a peek to make sure things haven't gotten out of hand for Eshe.
With Eshe through, and your own body pretty much out of juice, you can't justify pushing onward anymore. No, this is the time to fall back, regroup, let the burn cool off. It's just too fucking much pain to deal with.Your vision's blurring, your head is sweating, aching, and both of your eyes are starting to hurt, popped gel-orb or not.“Eshe can get the chopper. We need, we need to fall... to fall.” You can barely even think at this point as the heat builds, forcing you to breath heavily. Hot Rod leans down over you,”Fever.”For a time you fall into half-consciousness, dimly aware of the feeling of being hoisted upon asphalt, your ribs beaten against its jog, and then your body being put down rudely. You grasp at the air, for anything,”Where- where am I?” You blubber out like a hungover drunk as you come to your senses. The moon hangs stiffly directly above in the distant sky. You find yourself atop the ruins of several buildings all pushed together to a degree.“Glad to see you finally come to, man.” Hot Rod hangs out at your side, still hanging onto the ammo-less rifle,”Hey. You're a good leader, you know? I wish I could do half of that crazy magic, dude. You're working crazy hard though from the looks of it though...”You give him your own manner of scowl as you feel over the right side of your face, ending by pushing your hair up and back.Aerin seems to be gently nursing the breaks in her body with her own magic, and Helia's working on taking that armor on and off. To you, it just seems to work well enough. Got that one guy anyway. Looking like she's trying for smaller and smaller. The Burn recedes ever so gradually as articulation returns to your hands. The beat of wing-blades and you look up, with an amused smile.Eshe found you.>End thread>[Next Thread: Las Vegas!]LIMIT points rewarded!: 3Let's close up the thread with spending, hm?
>>30140788Can we get Oaths handled as well?I'm thinking buy Materia Firma for 1, spend 2 to get Summoning to 2, and apply Oaths to Ice, Illusion, and maybe Steam.
>>30140807I can second this more or less.
>>30140788How common are OverLimit Points anyways? If we're planning purchases it's good to know if we can expect to get 1 skill to Divine within any reasonable timeframe, or if it's slightly more common than that.

Transcended.>>30140807This looks like a good set to me, unless others would like to raise dispute?Ice Oaths:Oath of Frozen Nights: Ice May only be used from Dusk till dawn.Oath of Black Ice: Ice may only be used maliciously, never to defend.Oath of Blanc Ice: Ice may only be used with benevolent intentions, never to attack.Oath of Cruor Ice: Ice may only be used once a day, unless it's used to kill someone, then the restriction is removed.>>30140926Sorry, will post that now.
>>30140807I'd like to put a point in Materia Firma as well. Upgrading Summoning is fine, I suppose, could go either way.I haven't seen any proposed oaths for Ice, or any I liked for Illusion (night or prerequisite misdirection are big constrains at this point). Using steam only to cause pain is... ok, I suppose, I won't complain but I don't really support it either. I was already thinking this thread how it is better than mist as a smokescreen against tacticool snipers that have us pinned since it occludes visual targeting and camouflages heat signatures very well.
>>30140980>tacticool snipers that have us pinned since it occludes visual targeting and camouflages heat signatures very well.I'd actually been considring that for this. Many of the gunners you've seen here have actually been using thermic vision for the night. It's one reason that the followers opened up with a road of flames from the get-go.
>>30140973How aboutOath of the Sculptor: Ice may never be used to shape a weapon or moved in a violent manner, only nondamaging shapes may be constructed.I see ice best as a defense and used to entrap/curtail foes, instead of killing them, but not necessarily benevolent, since I want to be able to encase them.
>>30140973>Oath of Blanc Ice: Ice may only be used with benevolent intentions, never to attack.>benevolentDo you mean "defensive"? Cause I wouldn't exactly call erecting a bullet shield for yourself a benevolent action.
>>30141040That's a clever, yet still restricting reiteration. That's good.Anyone inclined to this? Already locked in Materia Firma, and Summoning.>>30141050It's an action to prevent harm, satisfying the spell's purpose.
>>30140973We could stick Oath of Selfishness on that one, it's appropriate to be cold and self serving for power over Ice.
>>30141058I'm down with Ice being oathed into defensive only.Ice is our shield, summons/steam our sword.
>>30141058I still don't think that benevolent really has the right connotations, but I'm cool with an Oath of not attacking things with ice.
>>30141058What about that oath of blindness mentioned earlier for blindness to boost the aqua sense?Would that even work?
Next thread, Asher will swear the Oath of The Sculptor.Any that object, speak now or hold your peace.I'm going to bed kinda-sorta, I'll check thread in the morning.
>>30141136Not being able to make weapons with it is kinda annoying, and I'm not sure how Materia Firma would interact with this if we made a weapon out of water and then froze it.
>>30141136Could ya say exactly what Oath of the Sculptor entails real quick for confirmation?
>>30141135Aqua-sense is linked to your hydrokinesis. It'll be improved as that's improved. It would work though, and you'd eventually end up seeing way more than you'd like to. Not necessarily the best thing to do until Asher learns more about how his magic works.>>30141153>>30141040>Oath of the Sculptor: Ice may never be used to shape a weapon or moved in a violent manner, only nondamaging shapes may be constructed.>I see ice best as a defense and used to entrap/curtail foes, instead of killing them, but not necessarily benevolent, since I want to be able to encase them.Oath Includes: Spikes, Maces, Hail, Hammers, Icices, Ice shards and anything else use to inflict harm upon the enemy. The Oath Excludes: Walls, Chairs, Bindings. Shields, Statues, Mirrors, and other things not made with violent intent, or rather not used for violent intent. This is an oath based upon Asher's perception of the creations.>>30141152That would count as using the power of Ice to act maliciously. Though a "Firmaed" spear of water would not apply.
If someone could archive, I'd appreciate.Good night anons, thank you for playing.
>>30141204What about making enemies fall off of tall places using Ice, is that allowed?
>>30141204If we eventually got Ice to high levels, would this Oath prevent us from doing things like raising the dead and telling them to murderize people?
>>30141234Probably. But I would think that summoning would be preferable for making things to go murderize people.
>>30141268Thankfully it should still be completely possible to freeze projectiles and utterly halt motion of objects with it which is the important thing. And putting people in stasis with it, not killing them, just stasis, then you kill them with a knife afterwards.
>>30141291It also doesn't stop us from just straight up freezing a dude to death. We can't make an ice knife and stab him, but we can give him frostbite by superchilling the environment around him.
>>30141324I think that is also the brute force method though, requiring much more application of magic to sap all the heat from their body than slitting their throat.
What other Oaths should we pick up? I've always liked Selfishness. >>30141324It's not violence, I just encased him in ice and he happened to suffocate.
Would trying to repair our eye cause bad things to happen? Would repairing it cause us to unawaken? How could we incorporate Self-Mutilation (Tattoos, Piercings) into an Oath, Ritual, or MagicFocus? Would they even do anything?(I assume yes, given the lost eye)You mentioned that even without an Oath, doing things like Praying or Breathing on a cig could lessen our magical load - do actions like air kung-fu, wiggling toes, or mental visualizations help much? Are there really no temporary Oaths, like Vengeance? Could we take an Oath that is essentially a Rangers Preferred Enemy (Overriding Prioritized Target)?
>>30141632What are the rules for Mythos Summons? (So, we cannot summon Darth Vader, but why exactly? Could we summon Abiyoyo, Merlin, or Paul Bunyan? John Henry, Genghis Khan, or a Shock Roach?)Do object summons drain as much as others? How are these limited? (Lightsabers, Plasma Casters, or Gae Bolg? Zeus Bolts, Deschain's Six Shooters, or a Zat'nik'tel?)
>>30141136>>30141862>Mythos SummonsSpeaking of Mythos summoning, I got the feeling that our Raven was literally one of Odin's, which is fine for a spur of the moment thing, since I assume it's easier to grab a set idea then try to craft a thoughtform on the spot, but in the future I think we should use disposable thoughtforms for that kind of thing, since scouts tend to be fragile and I really don't want to be responsible for pissing off a Mythos sect by getting their minions oneshotted.
>>30141862I think that the reason behind the no Darth Vader thing is that a sizable chunk of not-crazy people had to believe in them at some point.Mythos is based off of the collective human unconscious. In addition to being much newer than the standerd myth fare, most of the people that know about Vader would just see him as something from entertainment>>30141939I don't think that they actually die when you kill them. They just get unsummoned back to the collective pool place thing and re-summoned later.
>>30141939They don't die if they get dissolved due to damage in the real world, they aren't necessarily happy about it and it takes time to recover, but they aren't truly dead.
>>30141862How much does personal belief play into summoning?Someone who understands the magical nature of what's happening (ie Asher) would probably be open to old myths and and legends like we've seen so far, but will we run into delusional fanatics or zealots who have inordinately powerful summons? (please no loli w/Guardian Angel or Furry w/Custom Deviant art tier waifus)If we were to summon Santa Claus, would we get the current+most popular version, a personal preference manifestation, or an old time Hogfather-esque Origin version?
>>30142261Be not alarmed, but I suggested a schizophrenic thoughtform summoner at one point and Dran seemed to like the idea, saying that it would be some crazy shit. So you should probably expect crazyfucks to summon crazy things.
>>30142261Why summon Santa Claus, when we could summon Krampus? You know you want to, it'll be fun.
I want to summon a leshy. Those niggas go hard.>Leshies are terribly mischievous beings: they have horrible cries, and can imitate voices of people familiar to wanderers and lure them back to their caves, where the leshies will tickle them to death; they also remove signs from their posts.
>>30141632>Would trying to repair our eye cause bad things to happen? Would repairing it cause us to unawaken? No, however healing magic is very rare due to how it must affect your body. The natural magic resistance of a person works against them in this respect.>How could we incorporate Self-Mutilation (Tattoos, Piercings) into an Oath, Ritual, or MagicFocus? Would they even do anything?(I assume yes, given the lost eye)The act could be used in a ritual to bind a mythos item or figure. THe presence of the tat would become a focus. It wouldn't necessarily constitute for an Oath.>You mentioned that even without an Oath, doing things like Praying or Breathing on a cig could lessen our magical load - do actions like air kung-fu, wiggling toes, or mental visualizations help much?Yes. The more habits you have to perform spells, or cantrips you've developed will lessen the load.>>30141632>Are there really no temporary Oaths, like Vengeance? Could we take an Oath that is essentially a Rangers Preferred EnemyA temporary oath like vengeance would genereate an extremely limited spell of great power. You could opt to"Burnout" a spell to go up more than one rank to kill even one man, before giving up the spell for good. That's the closest it comes.Otherwise a temporary oath like vengeance would bring in the factor of a temporary, disposable powerup. It'd be better to just use an incantation to increase the effect if you're looking for something temporary.
>>30144254How exactly does using a focus or incantation or whatever improve the spell? Reduce the burn it causes? Make it hit harder?
>What are the rules for Mythos Summons? (So, we cannot summon Darth Vader, but why exactly? Could we summon Abiyoyo, Merlin, or Paul Bunyan? John Henry, Genghis Khan, or a Shock Roach?)Typically, the more the figure draws concern in the minds of the many, the more influence it has against- and larger power it requires to summon. This is one of the reasons that the abrahamic Yahweh is simply impossible to bring forward aside for the reasons that it would call upon all referenced versions which would make it even more difficult.Summoning "Dragon" is hard unless you name the dragon as well. Because you'd be pulling at the entire realm of possibilities as to what "Dragon" is."Fafnir" Is specific. "Nidhogg" is specific. In another twist, Drawing forth Darth Vader would require the creation of entirely new laws superceding even the current broken ones of magic. (i.e Midichlorians.) Which would force the draw of that into play as well. It'd actually be easier to create a thoughtform as a "not-Darth Vader" using magic. The creation of other laws to support something only increase the burn.Lesser knowns are also easier to coax through and even potentially easier to bargain with as they see you more as an avatar or a thrall that could bring them into the world.>>30141862>Do object summons drain as much as others? How are these limited? (Lightsabers, Plasma Casters, or Gae Bolg? Zeus Bolts, Deschain's Six Shooters, or a Zat'nik'tel?)Instead of using magic to create an object, it's easier to enchant one. That said, enchantments are limited to how much you charge them against the world trying to fix itself, whereas a fully summoned object could "come through" entirely.
>>30144329Could you elaborate on enchanting at all or would you prefer to save it until it becomes relevant in the quest? Also, char sheet still unupdated. Waiting for the next thread before you do it?
>>30142261>How much does personal belief play into summoning? It can play a lot actually, and comes forth more often as thoughtforms without the established Mythos backing them.As to seeing crazy summons, mind that while it's useful, there are many other kindss of magic available, and two other Over-types.That said, thoughtform summons can be made as powerful as the person that feeds them. The major issue of course is that as they're given power, they get smarter. Smarter they get, the more human they become.>>30142261>If we were to summon Santa Claus, would we get the current+most popular version, a personal preference manifestation, or an old time Hogfather-esque Origin version?Every version would try to cling on unless you get very specific. Names are important.>>30144281They both reduce burn. Less burn means you an also use more power>>30144372Updated now. Didn't hit submit.Going to hit the encyclopedia to add Aerin, Hot Rod, and Helia.
>>30144394The Oath of the Sculptor for Ice isn't there. Am I right in thinking you want to hold off on that at least until Asher isn't half-unconscious and makes it in-story?And Materia Firma looks sweet. Guess we won't need ice for offense when we can just make blades out of steam. And it would make an oath to only use steam for attacking more viable, I assume?
>>30144457Yeah, He'll need to go through a bit of training as well to come into the new powers as it's been before.Incidentally, if you increase the levels of Materia Firma it'll unlock other enchantments, and not necessarily be restricted to water.
>>30144483Just trying to make sure I got all my definitions straight."Enchantment" more or less means "changing the properties of an object via magic", yeah? Can it do other things, like store a spell in an object?Though, really, it does seem like the line between properties and spell storage are hazy. It seems like shooting a lightning bolt or fireball from a stick could be achieved by either.
>>30144394How big a difference is there between Novice and Apprentice for Summoning? Also, we should pick up another Raven, maybe actually name Huginn and Muninn for our scouts, they might be more expensive and need to chat with Odin for them, but they're likely smart as hell and knowledgeable about a lot of things, thankfully ravens are pretty common in Las Vegas so they won't draw attention, and get some wolves as well, they'd work well with Hunter, charge them up to a good power level when we have the time. Making steam solid, or at least resistant to movement like water, will probably end up being hilarious. It scalds at the same time as resisting movement. Also, we can make a spike of water solid with Materia Firma, and then after stabbing someone with it we explode it into steam inside of them, I think that'd be pretty painful.
>>30144588>Making steam solid, or at least resistant to movement like water, will probably end up being hilarious. It scalds at the same time as resisting movement.I want to make steam sticky.Like Napalm. All that humidity in the air? Suddenly SURPRISE NAPALM. ALL AROUND YOU.
I have not been following this quest neither do I go to /tg/ much, but I believe that asher should get himself a pimp cane.
>>30144552If you wanted a stick to shoot a fireball, to attract water, point towards hidden, water, etc. That'd all be enchanting.Spell storage and enchanting are pretty much the same thing for what they do.Example: Fara's old life, the woman in the ice accidentally enchanted it all with the effect of freezing water.>>30144588Summoning Novice doesn't allow you to customize Summons. I'll update your sheet with some of the new abilities that it will offer.>Customization in the form of shape and attributes.>More potential ability for storing energy within the summons as well as control over them.> Low-tier named summons become available.>Mediums are no longer necessary.
>>30144609It would be a bad time for everyone but bones. A bone would swallow the enchantment like breathing air.>>30144613That would work as a spell focus.
>>30144645I remember you also said at one point that Apprentice level would allow Asher to summon something up and force it to do a simple task.Like summoning a wendigo and making it just go kill one dude and not rampage.>>30144670>It would be a bad time for everyone but bones. A bone would swallow the enchantment like breathing air.I still want to do it at least once.>That would work as a spell focus. We totally should get one. With a big gaudy diamond on the top.
>>30144670>It would be a bad time for everyone but bones. A bone would swallow the enchantment like breathing air.Is it possible to overload a bone with too much magic?Cause them being able to fight on equal terms with veins despite supposedly being weak to them seems odd.
>>30144699Veins are able to cut off their spell drain by engulfing them in aura or pierce their "armor" with Spirit-imbued weapons. To a Bone, trying to swallow a soul is like trying to drink sand. That said, as a Nerve, you could forsake the route of burst-fire to take them down and go with "Overload" if you think you can outlast them. The dangerous thing about that however is that they literally siphon off the power to use their own abilities.
>>30144670It would however be utterly hilarious against Veins. They might not be able to put their soul into anything around them with us filling that area with magic which would make their day unpleasant. Also, if we make steam act like a liquid with Materia Firma we can heat it up a lot as it's not going to suddenly spread out like steam normally does and cool down through convection. It should be entirely possible for us to light a cigarette with a little bit of water this way, especially if we rank them up, which I find inordinately amusing.
>>30144738Can magical things damage them at all? Cause bones are looking more and more hilariously rapetastic in a fight against anything that isn't another bone.>No summons, they'll just get eaten>No enchanted effects, they'll just get eaten>Mundane weapons get shrugged off>Veins get wrecked only slightly less than everyone else.I dunno if this was intentional or not, but this system really looks like it favors bones. Nerves can wreck mundanes, but so can bones. They also seem to be the least impaired by the rock-paper-scissors weakness thing. Veins just don't seem to have enough oomph for their super-effective bonus against bones to matter at all.Maybe they're just better early game but then the others ramp up and they plateau a bit? I dunno. Trying not to sound bitchy about it. Don't take it the wrong way, I'm not upset about how it is, I'm just trying to understand how this all works.
>>30144823Summons are much harder for them to eat, and certain "forms" and self-enchantments can end up requiring higher skill levels to use.For instance: Most bones that are trained learn that becoming bullet proofed is a good idea/ Howevrr they won't necessarily be fire-proof, acid-proof, laser-proof, etc.A nerve performing burst-fire can do those things.Veins can use abilities featured by both Bones and Nerves.A Vein like Garde that infused his sword can slip the blade right through a Bone's defense, making what would be a blindingly fast or absolute brute suddenly realize that they bleed like anyone else.A vein thatTrains to be an unarmed swordmage can stab their hand right through an "enchanted" bone.Veins are also capable of enchanting their aura, to achieve various effects and are not limited by duration or even necessarily intensity, only range. Firebreathing, Possessed weapons, Controlling shadows, Thoughtform separation, lightning chi...In Beliala and Friend's little dispute, you find that Friend, while strong, is not as strong as her. There's a reason for that pertaining to who she is, and how strong Friend is when it comes to more traditional combat. Ironically, in Overhuman's early stages, there was only one vein, and he was grossly overpowered.
>>30144823>bones are looking more and more hilariously rapetasticAside from the post that I just explained... Yeah, they should definitely seem that way. You've only got one vein to counter with and she's still kind of shit, though noticeably better now that she's figured something out. Then you have three bones total in your group and Eshe just prosoloed most of the unattended barricades.Pic related, except she's got abyss-critter eyes for the night-mission.
>>30144928I'll just take your word on bones not being /as/ OP as they appear and blame veins looking terrible on Helia being, until recently, entirely useless and Friend being more orator than combatant. It's just so... frustrating... when every character except you can shrug off gunshots or getting their face pulverized while Asher is constantly passing out from making steam that can barely even give the enemies pause. Then again, Asher would probably look more impressive if we were playing as someone else. Grass is always greener and all that. I remember thinking Ceru was really underwhelming until Devon had to fight her.I suppose I should read through the earlier Overhumans.
>>30144928If we got Photokinesis, would it be possible to do the burst thing to repeatedly zap a bone in the brain by lasering through their eyeballs? Or would they just eat the laser?
>>30145063Petre manages to kill a few bones, though I did poorly in representing the followers in that sequence.Omar's run, he actually ended up needing to be taught about draining enchantments lest he be stuck by a construct of sand.Veins even have their own defense against Physical spells from nerves, by willingly taking in "corruption" to cancel out the spell. In any case, Asher would've been good to go if he hadn't tried to make an Ice-wall out of near-nothing. I'll start to throw up generalized costs associated with actions, or at least tell you guys if it's going to bring you to the next burn threshold.>>30145094Photokinesis at first will more incorporate the bending of light. It'll require slightly higher proficiency before lasers become possible.I also get the feeling that the Ocular nerve would burn out before it reached their brain. But yeah, the laser would become a magic-less body that wouldn't be intercepted through their consumption.
>>30145063Also, if it's any consolation, Nerves are more likely to hit the point that they can wreck an entire city block.
>>30145175When you say it like>more likelyit really doesn't feel like much of a consolation. Because a Nerve will never be as tough as a Bone, but a Bone can still achieve the same damage potential.
>>30138976>Also, if you can think of any natural extensions of Asher's current spellset, it will be added to his possible unlearned spells at a relevant point in the story.Aerokinesis could bud off of steam if Asher goes for the manipulating gasses aspect instead of manipulating the heat aspect.
>>30145226Few bones would strive for making a city-block a crater with their fists. I said more likely because it's not impossible.
>>30145226Get rekt, punk
So SatanismWhat exactly would we get out of that Dranule?
>>30145262This sounds like it would work.Add air control to the unlearned section, Dranule?
>>30145388>>30145279Yesss, and weather. I don't know how that doesn't already extend directly from water, but I've been dreaming of Asher bringing the storm forever (although I did vote illusion when we had the choice because that is more immediately applicable to his survival).
>>30145479I think we might have to get air before we can go to weather.
>>30145262Sounds good.>>30145326Depends on which Satanism Asher would reference. If it's Laveyan, Satan becomes a symbol rather than an actual deity. It would be a lot closer to how he goes about making spells referring more to and preferring logical practices. It could also open the door of Oaths that were made in accordance to operate with the 9 satanic statements, 11 Satanic rules of the earth, and 9 satanic sins.If it's spiritual satanism that falls back onto more magical practices and association with satan as a godly figure, father to mankind, demons that would actually be inclined to serve you without tring to screw you over every step, meditation and other practices that could increase your connection to the origin and medium of your power that you only know thus far as "The Other Side."I had an edgy teenager phase, though I was never interested in satanism just to be dark. I was interested in what philosophies they had. Enlightening when you get out of range of the people that think- and want it to be about drinking blood.>>30145479This is so>>30145497Aside, there's a reason that I've kept a beliefs portion in question for Asher. As it stands, I don't see it being a good idea to let you guys pick, while it's also not immediately relevant.Asher's personality and actions will determine his beliefs, especially since the things he'll experience may challenge or reinforce them.Incidentally, Asher would most likely lean towards LaVeyan Satanist philosophies right now..
>>30145568Well let's put Satanism on the table for future discussion.
>>30145568>9 satanic statements, 11 Satanic rules of the earth, and 9 satanic sins>Reading those on wikipedia>"Hmm. These collectively would make some pretty ok oaths">Get to #5 on the list of 11 Rules>Wonder what the fuck the "Mating Signal" is
>>30145652Also every single statement matches up perfectly with Asher
>>30145671Yeah, it does fit well with how he acts. But I don't like that it's atheistic in nature and thus may hamper Asher's ability in summoning, since deities play a pretty big role in it.
>>301456027. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.Kind of funny that one for this setting. In any case...>>30145702" We must not pay homage to any of the sacred cows presented to us, including the roles we are expected to play ourselves." This and a couple of the other sins are tricky when working with the followers.
Air control not added yet
Thanks for adding it.Though you forgot the > and the inconsistency is making me sperg a bit.And it would look better if you changed "gaseous bodies" to "steam".Feel free to ignore the nitpicking. If I were to make a prettied-up copy of your pastebin, would you implement it?
>>30146656Well good. I was holding off on it because I didn't want to waste the time on it if it wasn't going to see use.I'll probably maybe do one before next thread. Or wait for the oath and stuff to get added first.
Stop using spoilers incorrectly.
>>30146700Stop shitting on our fun.
>>30146728but you're the only one doing it nimrod
>>30144928So how would enchanting bullets work?Spend time dumping extra magic energy into them like we do with Fara?Maybe carve some symbols into them as a focus or something?Do some chanting?
>>30146786>Spend time dumping extra magic energy into them like we do with Fara? That would be the most efficient. The others work as well.
>>30147002Can I suggest an oath?Oath of the Frozen: Normal body temperature is reduced to such cold temperatures that anyone who comes into direct contact with it will likely have some frostbite. Body temperature can then be lowered down even colder from that point at a cost of burn, getting closer and closer to absolute zero as time goes on...but cannot be raised from that standard point without it being harmful. A passive aura of cold keeps the outside environment from being overly warm.
>>30147442I don't think that would work as a nerve. /Maaaaaaybe/ as a bone. And it seems more like a whole new spell rather than an Oath, really.>>30147002Neato. I have to ask, though. Why do we need Materia Firma for that? And could we dump energy into our clothes to make them bullet-proof or something? Maybe pick up a beanie to wear and protect our head.
Once we unlock Aerokinesis, we should have Lightning magic added to the unlearned list.It is the static created by the air that creates lightning, afterall.
>>30147442I'm pretty sure we're capable of learning every single element.
>>30144928>>30145029I think the real problem is that bones can just stand there and absorb magic like some kind of bastard sponge and haphazardly punch the nerve to death while veins and nerves have to actually try to go for precision hits and poisonings to make use of their advantages at all. Or at least that's what it sounds like so far.
>>30147742And wide area destruction is hardly even an advantage when bones not only absorbs that wide area destruction, but makes themselves stronger from it.>Nuke whole city>There were a couple bones in the city>They are now supercharged
>>30147785Nukes aren't magic.
>>30147742>nerves have to actually try to go for precision ... poisonings to make use of their advantages at allNot true. A Nerve would destroy a Vein by doing something like that steam napalm flood mentioned earlier.
>>30132013I don't follow this quest, but I knew there was something strange when I saw Dranule in the tags.Nigger what ever happened to Mirage Village Quest?
