>late late late

"Okay. First thing when we get back."

You're Miranda Rook. Financial genius, lonely woman, underpaid and underrespected. And soon to be owner of a PMC. You've just gone through a guilt trip when you asked your boss for a raise.

"First thing, don't worry. Miranda, you mean a lot to me, on an entirely professional basis. Frontier Finance will treat you right. Now, I gotta go- Wednesday's a big day if we all want to get home on time."

He disconnects. No promises then. You sigh, stretch. Well, that doesn't matter as much to you. Big day coming up tomorrow. You go back to researching. Low wouldn't tolerate more of your sass, and at the moment you didn't feel secure enough to deal with that shit. You'd have to see how the meeting went before making any concrete demands.

You look up some more stuff about Peregrine Immediate, and its competitors. Some mechanized infantry. An international force, though with a predisposition to countries of NATO origin. No Migs then. Speaking of which...

Oh. Turns out Mig-27s were rather out of date. Crap.

You're fully prepared for the meeting tomorrow. You double check your bank account-

>$463,500

If things went as planned, you'd see another $10,000 return come tomorrow. You could probably leverage a loan as well, worst comes to worse. But, with the way things are going, you should be able to purchase Peregrine Immediate with no problems, and still have a tidy starter fund.

Preparations complete, and a bit exhausted still from everything that's happened, you let yourself rest.

The next morning, you do something rare and wake up at 5:00AM to properly prepare. After fumbling with make up, hair product, and clothes, it's 8:00AM. One last look in the mirror. Dressed in white. Sleek. Professional. Predatory. Good.

Marmalade Cafe, 10:00AM. Meeting Captain Koojimans.

>You need somebody to watch your back. Call Andy? Or someone else.

It is, but, I figured you guys would want the option.

>You can go it alone. Head on out.

Also, grab something quick to eat before we leave. If our stomach growls during a meeting it'll throw everything off, we can get something at the cafe as well, just a light snack beforehand.

Deep breaths Miranda, you can do this. You're going to own a PMC.
>>
im imagining the reaction that Andy would have if he went with us. he would be a good bullshitter for us if we start to fumble and he seems to be able to improv his way pretty well for us even if this is coming at him ice cold

Mig-27s. Out of date, but still Aircraft.

Not many have their own fighters for hire, and when a country needs a mercenary airforce, they NEED an airforce.

Alone. Like you promised. You gather your things, nab a pair of power bars, and start shoveling them in your mouth. You're not going to look unprofessional, or stain your nice new clothes. You kind of have to hunch over and lope like Gollum to the elevator to make sure no crumbs fall on you, but the temporary embarrassment is worth it. Maybe. Freaking fashion lady.

Your laptop bag being broken, you end up having to grab a canvas bag you got at some seminar or another you'd left in your luggage by mistake. You weren't going to show Koojimans the laptop- cracked screen wouldn't look good- but you were paranoid a bit, ever since Andy's laptop was taken. Right. Andy's laptop. No way he'd be up this early. You'll drop it off tonight. One thing after another, you reflect mashing on the elevator button.

Witchall would have to be called later, make sure he wouldn't forget, after that you'd probably have to see the troops and after that, oh the elevator opened and there's tall Francis out of his uniform looking baffled. You with your mouth full of granola.

He gives you a long look up and down, and balks a little.
"Wow."
"Mmrgrhhfff," You reply, stepping in. No time for this, no time. Have to get to this meeting. Tottenham. Not a nice place, from what you can recall.
"Uh, hi, Miss Rook?"
"Plrrgh," You mash the lobby button. You swallow your granola, "Doctor Rook."
"Oh shite, sorry, meant to say that."
"Sure."

You unwrap another power bar, shovel it in. Elevator music goes. Francis drums his fingers on the rail on the side of elevator. Slow, slow elevator. He looks to be gathering himself, then he turns to you.
"So, uh, funny us meeting like this?"
"Gmrg," You give a noncommital shrug. Watching the elevator descend.
"On business?" You nod. He nods right on back, "Great, great, so, uh, what do you do anyway?"
Can't he see you're eating? You give him a hard look, swallow another mouthful, "Quantitative analyst. Financial stuff," Ding, "Busy, sorry, bye!"
>>
"Oh. Well, good bye Doc-" You miss the rest as you billow out of the hotel lobby, in to the street.

The cabby is incredulous when you say you want to go to Tottenham. Marmalade Cafe, Tottenham, you repeat, and he snorts and shrugs. Every cabby has an opinion in this damn town. And take the long god damn way to. You can't wait for robots to replace cabbies.

Admittedly though, Tottenham looks like a dump. Catford might have been hit hard, but Tottenham looks significantly more...'Urban,' for lack of a better word. A lot of grey in the concrete and bricks, and suspicious looks being cast about by passers by. Captain Koojimans sure could pick the territory. Though that might be the strategy, to intimidate you. You swallow your fear. At least it was sunny out. Weak London sun, but still sun.

Thankfully, Marmalade Cafe looks down right cheery when you pull in to it. A little kitschy hipster crap, but a fine port in the storm from the rest of the downtrodden mess you see on the way over. It spills out on to the side walk, a lot of wrought iron tables and chairs filled with gossiping healthy young people. You check the time. 9:40AM. You're early. You scan the crowd. A group of laughing young men sitting outside, speaking in Turkish(?) that start yelling praise in fine English when the waitress brings out pancakes. An old woman hunched over a counter, picking at her scrambled eggs. A reedy looking man in a turtleneck sweater and tweed jacket, sitting in a corner, pretending to tap at a macbook pro. No signs of Koojimans that you can see. Time to pick a place to sit.

>Outside. Be visible, just in case things happen.
>Inside, at a counter. Be friendly, amicable.
>Inside, in a corner. Keep things discreet.
>Other.

Inside. Make sure wherever we sit has an eye on the entrance of the building, and if possible sight on the other places people can enter the main dining area, is difficult to sneak up on, and that if anyone outside starts shooting inside that there would cover available.

Discretion is also nice, but not as important as showing that we're paying attention to possible threats. Kooji ought to respect some caution coming from us.

>>29962524
That'd be my guess. If he's not one of Kooji's men then he has some other method of keeping an eye on the place, either people nearby watching in or he bugged the joint.

Very true. Maybe look into finding some old Hawker Hurricanes or P-51s to serve as ground attack craft, and some older model F-16s or F-15s to serve as SEAD and air superiority, respectively.
>>
>>29962630
>Maybe look into finding some old Hawker Hurricanes or P-51s to serve as ground attack craft
What.

No seriously, why the fuck would you use those, 16's and 15's can do both jobs so much better.

And also, PI is Mechanized Infantry, not a small combat air squadron, they are veteran infantry and light/thin skinned armored vehicles, the closest thing to dealing with planes they would have would be the Strela's Kooji told us they have for AAA work.

Honestly the anons in the last thread had good ideas, get some Rooikats and Excaliburs for close support hardened vehicles and AAA work respectively.

We didn't pursue buying the pmc that had planes, and PI does not deal with planes, so don't throw planes at them and expect them to work.

It's never a bad idea to have aircraft capable of blowing tanks up sitting around if you need them, is all I'm saying.

But you're right. We'll probably find more functioning F-16s and more pilots capable of flying them than P-51s.

Although Excalibur's didn't get past an initial short production run, we should most likely contract Samsung to make us a 6x6 or 8x8 thin skinned armored truck with a 20mm Vulcan on the back of it.

>>29962727
>blowing tanks up
Infantry have many ways to do that without calling in CAS, and considering the size of PI and the areas they will be working with, we won't be seeing anything past MAYBE a gen 2 MBT at best, but most likely gen 1 MBTs from third world countries we can deal with easily enough
>>
>>29962772
You never know, man, you never know. Besides, what about escorts for when we've got our private jet?
>>
>>29962677
Should we recruit down the line toward other lines? Koojy-kuns men as the mobile attack and rescue troops, with professional Suit and tie security for urban VIP protection.
>>
>>29962793
PI would need to be raking in the big bucks to afford the upkeep of 2 F-16XL's let alone actually buying them and hiring pilots for them, the NATO airframes we could find for sale, with service and armament contracts available to private groups would cost many millions, like 15-30 million a jet, 2-5 million for continued service and support, as well as finding and hiring pilots and maintenance staff for them.

Not to forget facilities to house and launch/retrieve them from, which would severely limit PI's operational areas and opportunities for work.

Add to the fact that PI's HQ is a freighter it uses to get around the world and investing in combat aircraft is an utterly stupid idea.

>>29962818
No, you want exec-protec men, you hire exec-protec specialists, not mechanized infantry, saying that, we could maybe take one or two of his men who might be suitable for bodyguard work for us, but getting a VIP detail just ain't worth it, we're not Koko Hekmatyr yet.

Two Words:

Super Tucano.
>>
>>29962892
Branches of Knights Frontier, not turning his men into Exec-protec.

The Bishops to Kooj's Knights.
>>
>>29962912
ST's would be great, we could pack them away on the freighter but we would need to capture/find airfields we could use for them.

if we do need CAS airframs, Super Tucano's would be the ones to get, but still a couple million an airframe.

>>29962921

Frontier is the finance company we work for, the rename we've planned is Knight Global.

You scan the place. Quick rules off the top of your head- #1. Back to a wall. #2. Eyes on exits and entrances. #3. Have a clear path to the exit.

Your options are kind of shitty. To be honest, macbook guy is taking up the prime position. Still, you find a seat in an appropriately dingy corner that lets you watch the entrance. You kind of have to crane your head to see behind you to the fire exit though. You practice doing it as elegantly as possible. Oh shit, you should've brought your sunglasses. Hide your eyes. enhance the mystery. But, maybe he would think you were a joke though, wandering around with sunglasses in this awful weather. Still, maybe it wouldn't be that bad for-

"Cor, you look splendid!" A waitress manifests herself, smiling around a nose ring to admire your outfit. You do stand out a little, perhaps. She doesn't mock you though, instead breaking up a notepad, "Thank you for coming. What can I get you ma'am?" A pleasant woman with a light henna on her hands standing out from her dark skin steps in front of you, smiling.
"Hm? Oh-" Potatoes, pancakes, eggs, sausages, lotta butter, oh god gimme gimme gimme- "Coffee for now. Black. Thank you."
"Coffee?" She looks at you, and with a mumbled, "Braver than me," She disappears again. And there he is. Bent backed, broad shouldered, face like a particularly dour basset hound that's served across the Eastern front, Captain Koojimans enters. Respectable pea coat, thick looking sweater, workman's boots and a flatcap under his arm. He has a frown under his mustache you suspect won't go away, and a ginger haired man barely out of boyhood. So. He brought friends. But you can't fear the freckled kid really. Buzzed on the sides, long on top, and peach fuzz on his upper lip. You wish you had your coffee to hide your smile.
>>
>>29963042
more like a Kiowa or Giselle, AH-6's lack range and carrying capacity and are really only appropriate for low response CAS and grey insertions
>>
Red lined blue eyes cast around the cafe from Koojiman. Piercing eyes, pupils like pinpricks. He settles on you, and with an elbow to the green eyed boy next to him, he approaches.

You stay seated, cross your legs. Check your watch. 9:51AM.

"Didn't you expect you to be early, ma'am," His voice is gravelly, with a strange whisper at the vowels. Very enunciated English, with a heavy accent, "Did I keep you waiting?" A note of surprise is in his voice.
"Not at all, please, Captain, take a seat," You gesture to the chair, "I took the liberty of ordering coffee for myself."

You note the Irish boy is gawking at you. Like a barracuda. The Captain takes his seat, gives a look to the boy. The boy gives a stiff nod, then meanders to the front.

"The coffee here is passable," The Captain says with some regret, "I prefer the tea."
"You come here often then?"
"I like a familiar environment."
"Right."

There's a pause. He seems to be sizing you up. His frown deepens, and his brow furrows. He seems to be contemplating your wardrobe. But, he doesn't break the silence. It's just about to get awkward, when the waitress comes by, bearing your coffee. She looks surprised at the sight of your guest.

"Oooh, Kooji! You're back!"
The Captain winces a little, but you see the corners of his mustache turn up, "Can't keep away very well."
"Things turn around then?"
"Yes," He looks at you, "I think I can settle my tab here soon enough."
"Oh don't you worry none, Kooji, we can talk about that later- the usual?"
"The usual. And-" He looks to you raises an eyebrow, "Double order of omelette?"
"Ah! Of course! Coming right up!" She hustles away. Koojimans's smile receds as she grows more distant. He returns his attention to you. Time to say something.

>"Kooji?"
>"I already ate, Captain. Can we get down to brass tacks?"
>"You spend a lot of time in London then?"
>"Any recommendations on what to order?"
>No it isn't. Just wait. Raise eyebrows.

If they hadn't only built four Piper Enforcers, I'd suggest that, but they only built four. So our best bet then is the US Aircraft A-67 Dragon, which is projected to cost four to five million US dollars.

Our best bet may be to just buy a Piper Cub or generic Cessna and throw rocket and gun pods on it.

>>29963105
>No it isn't. Just wait. Raise eyebrows.

Remember, gentlemen. Barracuda.

Casual and respectful. Keep a cool demeanor, composed.
>>

I'd imagine he has a question or two to bring up with Rook face to face first before the order arrives.
Then we can talk business in earnest.
>>
>>29963188
>Cessna
Please, I'm sure we have better taste then that.

the KAI KT-1C looks like a cheaper Super Tucano, also, I'm not finding any armament lists for the A-67, but at a minimum we'd need 4 hellfires and a preferably 20mm gun pod, but a 12.7 could work
>>
Hm. Okay, take a pause, then ask about London and recommendations?

Lemme know if I need to alter that. Writing at any rate.
>>
>>29963105
Remember, Barracuda.

Look at him, glance over at the guy pretending to do stuff on his macbook.

"Friend of yours?"

It shows that we're observant, taking this meeting seriously enough to check the other people around, and on the off chance that it isn't one of Kooji's men then he'll know that something isn't right. It shows that we have teeth right off the bat, he's been sizing us up, it shows that we're doing the same.

Then smile and give him a chance to talk, to ask us questions. We'll also want to ask him some stuff, like if he spends a lot of time in London, and asking for a recommendation on what to order shows that we respect his opinion.

Continuing this, the Soko J-20 Kraguj or Cessna A-37 Dragonfly might be safe, too.

Both are retired, and we might be able to find a former pilot to train up whatever young fellow with a pilot's license we find.
>>
>>29963320
>Soko J-20 Kraguj
the J-20 is too old to accept the ordinance we could buy currently and is too old to be continuously serviceable, but the A-37B would make a very nice COIN/CAS bird, and I know for a fact that several companies do conversion work for both NATO and Russian equipment and ordinance as well as modernization upgrades and programs, although such things might be costly.

For now, I think we should focus on strengthening PI's best assets and areas of expertise, get a couple of Rooikats or Panhard's for thicker skinned hard hitting vehicles, and wishlist Super Tucano's and Dragonfly's for when PI is much bigger and can afford them

You wait. Captain Koojimans frowns a bit. Then sighs, speaks up, "You weren't what I was expecting."
"In a good or bad way?"
"In a way," Koojimans shrugs, "I was expecting someone more extravagant. Your clothes," He nods at your fresh wardrobe, "Look expensive. But, you come in here without a car, no men of your own, order coffee, and take a seat. You assume this like a dinner date," The waitress manifests again, setting a tea cup in front of Koojimans. He takes it up, drinks from the cup delicately, "Not nearly as American."

He said neutral, but you get the feeling that that was a good thing. You look out to the street. Red headed kid is sitting with the young Turks now, laughing along with them. Still away from business though. Guess you're still being assessed.

"You often come to London then?" You drink your coffee. Yeah, it's not great, but it's been a habit since college. Oh, note to self, whiten teeth. You suddenly realize that your smiles were probably an awful brown mess. Crap crap crap.

"It's a second home of sorts. My creditors are here," Koojimans gives a thin lipped grin at that, "Need to assure them I have not flown the coop."
"Just creditors? You seem social here," Koojimans thin lipped grin recedes at that. Perhaps a bit far there. You raise a hand in mock surrender, "Just curious."
"Hm. Well, there's other things," He brings one hand over another, moving it underneath the table. A slight glimmer of gold there on his ring finger you hadn't noticed before. Wedding band? Well, change the topic. Koojiman's dour mood doesn't seem to be improving.
"Do you have a recommendation on what to eat?" You pick up the menu, "I'm not overly familiar with the cuisine here, sorry."
"Eggs benedict," He flatly says. Then frowns.

"Do you have an interest in warfare, Mrs Rook?"

>"That's Dr. Rook to you. And no."

"I suppose this is a hobby to you then?" Koojimans grumbles. A steaming plate of food is placed before him. Fast service. You stop the waitress, order eggs benedict, wait for her to leave earshot.
"Yes," You say frankly, "But never as a game."
"Hmph," Koojimans frowns again, "What is your doctorate in then, Doctor Rook?"
"Mathematics."
"Mathematician then?" Koojimans frowns, "You're far afield from your work."
"Please," You snort, "If you want to hit something over the horizon, you don't just eye ball it. You plug in a formula."
"But you're not going to be crunching the numbers for our howitzers, are you? Why the interest in our mercenary company?"

You were lonely. Felt powerless. Mocked. Felt like you had wasted your life. Felt unsafe. Wanted to mean a damn in a world where you could make millions that you'd see only a fraction of. Wanted to feel like you were doing something other than algebraic tricks to grow bank accounts. You drink your coffee. Try to think of a reason that wouldn't make you seem needy. You take the cup from your lips, smile benevolently.

"War is a business that guarantees its own growth. I felt diversifying my portfolio."

That seems to satisfy Koojimans. He grunts rolls his eyes, "Of course," he clears his throat.
"Then, what would you feel your role is in our company? You just want to make your share from our adventures?"

He seems mostly won over. Not a whole lot you could do to offend him.

>"Yes. This is purely a financial relationship. I settle your debts, I receive a share- to be worked out later."
>"More than that. I think I can help you, so that we can reap more profits.."

I'm a woman Captain, but i do not want to feel like a secretary. I'd like to learn some, of your experiences, of tactics, of wartime politics even. "I don't know. It depends on what you'd prefer and the company needs. Would it be best if I simply settled your debts and took a share of the future profits? This is a new arena for me, Captain."

We can predict where they'll be needed, and perhaps use them to to alter the market in small ways.

Right now it should be this. I don't think Kooji would trust someone who would go further than this for the time being of course. Later on we can ask for more, but not now.

No, while largely a financial relationship, I want to see PI grow to new heights, new profits and while it may be seen as a largely one directional relationship, I think I can help you, so we can both reap more profits, but also I would appreciate being able to call on your services for aid.

These two. But replace the profits in the first with "more success". Perhaps Kooji doesn't like it when the whole PMC thing is focused on profits and profits only. With "success" that means more survivability of the troops. Kooji seems liek a guy who cares about his people.

The second one seems to be a wee bit too greedy, the 3rd implies we might get into personal trouble soon, and I doubt the last option would be palatable to Koojimans at this juncture.

Try to establish that he will be financially secured on the short term, but imply that there would be uncertainties in the world in the near future.
We, as a partnership, would be on hand to provide security to that uncertainty.

>By the by, I'm noticing how dissatisfying the choices I'm giving are. Let's try just free posting to avoid choice tunnel vision.

"I'm no general, Captain. I'm not going to be looking over your shoulder and giving commands. However-"
"However?" Koojimans raises an eyebrow.
"However, I would like to help you and your men succeed more, and I would appreciate the chance to learn. Nothing tactical," You raise your hand as Koojimans opens his mouth. He shuts it again, and you repeat yourself, "Nothing that would step on your toes. I know better than that, Captain."
"Good."
"But, I do feel that PI can become something more. Are you familiar with financial models?"
"No, and I fail-"
"Financial models try to predict markets, get an edge over competition when it comes to trades. Are you familiar with Frontier Finance?"

Koojimans glowers at you. Okay, you're being a little condescending, ratchet it back.
"Sorry- well, anyway, Frontier Finance was a small firm in New York that started with six hundred thousand dollars of capital. It struggled in the small leagues for six months, until they hired me and my team, and we built my model. A year later, Frontier Finance is just short of a billion, on the cover of the Wall Street Journal, and tendering offers from RBS and Goldman Sachs."
"Well congratulations," Captain Koojimans frowns, "You're rich."
"Not me personally- but the point is, is that these predictive numbers allowed us to get the initiative over companies that have billions of dollars on us. We can do the same for you."

"We don't trade in stock options."
"No, but you deal with risk, supply and demand, uncertainty, and need to be able to predict a tumultuous market," You can't hide your smile now, coffee stains be damned, "And I can help with that."

Koojimans looks a little disquieted. You're worried you've come on a little strong. He drinks his tea again, his eyes never leaving yours. He drains the cup, sets it down, and then slides it carefully to the side.
>>
"What are you then, an oracle?" He's doing his best to sound amused. There's a note of hesitation though. Your Eggs Benedict come. No bacon in it, eggs and sausage, green onions and spice sprinkled all over. You sniff at the perversion, try it. Damn, it is good. You swallow a mouthful.

"No. Just good with statistics."
"And you're proposing...What exactly?"
"Predicting flashpoints. Wars don't just start out of the blue, Captain. Ammunition must be prepared. Grudges have to be stoked. Rations have to be packed."
"You think you're the first to track the arms market?"
"Of course not. But, not every thing is above board."

Captain Koojimans remembers he has food on his plate in front of him. He grabs a napkin tucks it in to his collar, starts eating, "So. Let's say your model ,somehow works-"
"It will work-"
"-remains to be seen, your model works. What do we do?"
"You stay nearby. Be ready to offer aid and assistance to whichever party involved will pay you. Location, location, location."
"Be a vulture then," Koojimans snarls around a mouthful of omelette.
"No, be the first man on the scene. Conflicts happen either way. All you're doing is making sure you're the first one bid on. Better than another competitor, who would take shortcuts, who wouldn't handle the same thing with your conscience," You're going out on a limb here. You hope he doesn't see you sweating. You're doing your best to remain entirely still- though you do note that your sleeve is in something sticky. You'll have to wait for him to leave before you can take your arm off the table.
>>
Koojimans continues to chew the food, thinking. Swallows. Nods.

"Right," Koojimans looks up, "You're confident this will work."
"Absolutely. Just need time and processing power for by the minute continuous updates. But let me in, and your company will soar."
"And all it will cost me is...?" Koojimans raises an eyebrow.
"Time showing me the ropes, and letting me be part of this venture. I might not know everything, but you will find I can learn quick."
"You'd want to be in the field."
"If the situation calls for it."

Koojimans thinks. Nodding. He looks up at you.

"10%, after expenses. When we're in the field, I am in command. No countermanding, no doubts, no questions. We are not criminals, hitmen, or assassins, we are soldiers, working for relevant government bodies. If you find a mission for us, you will divulge every detail, and hide nothing. This is not a merger of Frontier Finance and my business, and we will review the state of our contract in six months. If we are dissatisfied, we can walk away. Clear?"

"I'm buying you out, Captain," You give a hard look, "I hope you're not going to take my money and run."
"No, no, Peregrine Immediate will be yours," Captain Koojimans raises his hand, "But as for me," He points at himself, "I'm letting you know my conditions."
"I don't follow."
"You will probably be good for my company, Doctor Rook. But I'm worried," He frowns, "So, this is as far as I'm concerned. I desire 10% of the proceeds, after expenses, and in six months, I will decide for myself whether or not to stay on. You are intelligent. Forthright. But, and I mean absolutely no disrespect, you are not military," He shrugs, "I'm allowed to worry."
"The 10% is bold, seeing as I'm buying your company."
"I'm going to be commanding the men. I would like some consideration."
"Forthright."
"Thank you."
"And if you walk away? Do I get my money back?"
"The business will still be yours," Koojimans replies blandly, "I don't see why I'd refund you."
"Koojimans..."
"The money goes immediately to paying debtors, restocking equipment, and paying off grieving widows and orphans, Dr. Rook. I can't wave a wand and bring it back."

Hm. Well, you can go back to that later.

You sip at the coffee. One last thing.
"And the name- are you particularly attached to the name?"
"Peregrine Immediate?" Koojimans frowns, "It bothers you?"
"Well. I think a better name would be 'Knights Global,' myself."
"Knights Global?" He raises an eyebrow. Then shrugs, "Your company after this point. Feel free."
"And may I meet the men?"
"Of course. They'll need to be gathered first. They're scattered all over town, but I can find them. We're due for a meeting anyway, down at our vessel," He checks his watch, a slim leather banded old fashioned thing, "Four hours, actually, if you don't mind waiting."

Absolutely nothing because Kooji is just the man we need to run KG and we want to keep him and the company happy and in our employ

I say we accept, and go see the men in 4 hours, we don't mind waiting, and we can spend the time learning from Kooji about the business, what he needs to keep running and running well, see what he can teach us and be receptive and respectful, we need him to run KG for us.

We don't want to lose Kooji. He has already grown on me.

Also, we didn't ask if they have a base of operations. You know, to put the supercomputer in it once we go around making our model.

>Input?
Ask him who the kid is he brought along.
"Is this the boy who keeps answering the phone?"
Perhaps make him uncomfortable "Cute."

If he gets 10%, how much will the rest of the crew get? And will they be happy if he takes the lion share of the salary? He knows them better than us, we're not trying to accuse him or anything.

We don't mind waiting and since we don't have any plans for now, perhaps we can spend this time as a lunch date and get know each other better? Without making it known that we are a nerd full of spaghetti of course.

"He can't be older than sixteen."
"Nineteen," Koojimans looks a bit bemused, "Don't mention it to him. He's gotten a bit of a syndrome about it."
"That's why he he has the, ah..." You rub your upper lip. Koojimans coughs a small laugh, nods, "Cripes. It's embarrassing."
"Ja, een beetje, he's due to be put through the wringer when the men see him again."
"And the guy with the macbook, is he one of yours?"
He shakes his head, "No. I thought he was one of yours at first, but you didn't look at him at all," He turns in his chair looks at the man rather openly. Fellow in the turtle neck looks up slightly perplexed. Koojimans stares at him hard for a few seconds, then shifts back to you, "Just a man, I should think."
"Did you have to do that so openly?" You whisper. Koojimans laughs.
"What? You think he's a spy?"
"Well-" You stop talking, try to regain your footing, "I prefer to take precautions."
"Of course, of course," Koojimans still chuckles. Now that the negotiating is done, he seems a lot more warm. He leans back in his chair, jerks his thumb to the door, "I find a walk helps the digestion marvelously. Care to join me?"

certainly, lets ask about how he started/came into PI and its history, we don't want to go treading on any traditions or make faux pars and disrespect the men and their unit
>>
>>29965958

"Sure"

I can't believe we stained our suit! Cleaning it will be a bitch.
>>
>>29965958
"I'd love to, Kooji. I trust you can protect a single woman on these rough streets."

Smile so it's obvious we're being friendly and slightly teasing, not rude.

"Though I need to freshen up first."

Hit the bathroom, make sure our suit isn't stained too badly, do damage control to clean it up a notch or two if possible.

Then go on the walk with him. Ask about PI and its history, as well as his own history. If he has questions for us answer them honestly.
>>
>>29965958
Sure. Interested in Koojimans' preferred neighborhood, so to speak.

My suspicions are now doubled with macbook guy, but it seems planned too far ahead to be a plant from our company & Low (which is the only other explanation I can think of), so I'll chalk it up to coincidence for now.

Honestly, if they're watching anyone, at least anyone we give a flying fuck about, they're watching Kooji. He's known to frequent this place after all.

It could be that they're watching someone else entirely and don't care about us in the least, but never assume that.

We did?

One of our sleeves has been in something sticky for a bit, I'm not sure if it'll stain, and how noticeable it'll be, but it's a white suit, those things are a bitch to keep clean.

"Of course. I'd love to see the charming sights of Tottenham," You give a test to your sleeve- okay, you can work it off of the sticky crap in a bit, "Just let me freshen up a bit, hm?"
"Sure, sure," Koojimans waves you off, "Take your time, Doctor."

You loudly thank him, hoping it can cover up the terrible noise of your sleeve coming off table crap. Fossilized syrup maybe? Sounded like a 'shlorp.'

You step off to the bathroom as dignified as you can, and then check your sleeve. Hm, no visible stain that you can see, but it's sticky. You're supposed to use cold water for silk, right? Ahhhh crap, can't worry about that. Some frenetic dabbing with wet paper towels later, and it's a mite damp but otherwise fine.

So, you have mercenaries now. Good work.

Now what? You take a look at yourself in the mirror. Professional looking. Very professional looking. But not really a general of soldiers. And you're not sure if your conflict model would work. It was the same theory as your financial model, but you didn't have the team. Could you do it on your own? Maybe. Maybe. You'd need some of the infrastructure, but you could hazard some guesses. But what if something went wrong, or your facade dropped for just a moment or-

You take a moment, and a deep breath. You're doing fine.

You exit the bathroom. Macbook guy is gone. Koojimans is at the front, brusquely paying at the till. As you approach, gathering your things and opening your purse, he waves away the money.
"On me."
"Really? I thoug-"
"Please, Doctor," Captain Koojimans raises a hand as waitress sorts the bills, "I insist."

HE LIVES
>>
A little bit of an antiquated notion, but you won't begrudge him it. He's going to be getting $350,000 of your money after all. You follow after Captain Koojimans. Outside, the redheaded boy is in a heated argument with one of the Turkish boys over something involving an arsenal? You're not totally clear. At the sight of Koojimans though, he hops off, giving an exaggerated salute and marches to Koojimans.

"So! She can survive sunlight!" He looks at you, giving a cocky grin.
"O'Gara, she doesn't own us yet, but she will very soon. I advise you to keep that in mind."
"Right, right, of course! I forgot that we're so deep in the hole that we have to get bought like a mom and pop shop. I'm not going to wear any of your flair shite, so don't even try, ma'am."
"It'll be her company very soon, O'Gara, just reminding you."
"Great, say, Miss Rook do you like to tak-"
"O'Gara. Shut up and go get Harris," Koojimans growls. Correspondingly, the pip squeak stops talking and with a final look of muted irritation, shuffles off. You were a little curious about what he was going to say.

"He doesn't like me then?" You ask, staring after the young man jogging down the straight.
"Just overly defensive...Well, it's a long story."
"We've got time."
"And more important things to talk about," Koojimans replies. Not going to talk about his kid then, "More importantly, where we're going to be headed."
"You mentioned Algeria."
"Yes," Koojimans nods, "That conflict is almost well under way. The government is disintegrating, and there's rumors of an EU intervention. But, your model...What if you could predict somewhere better for us to deploy? I'm going off of my instinct here."
"And what's wrong with that?"
"My instinct led my men to India."
"Ah," A bit of self doubt then, "Well-" It's nowhere near ready, and you doubt it'd be accurate, "-I'll see what we can look at."
"Good, do you have any questions?"
>>
"Actually-" You ask him about his records, his work. Most everything matches what you've read. He deflects most questions regarding himself ably, but is whole hearted and frank about where he feels that Peregrine Immediate had failed. It's existed for ten years now, almost immediately as soon as Koojimans had left his service in the Royal Netherlands Army. Though he doesn't talk about it, you get the feeling the parting was not amicable.

No mission had been a complete disaster before India, but you get the feeling that Koojimans feeling about Peregrine Immediate's shortcomings are almost all tied in to a lack of intelligence. India had been the biggest loss for his unit, but before this he'd been stymied and frustrated by unexpected opposition or betrayal. But, the unit's ability to improvise usually proved capable of carrying the day.

Unless they were caught at sea.

"-And that brings us here. Up to my eyeballs in debt. Heh," He shakes his head, "Until we met you of course. Now then- how about back to my ship? Do you have anything you need to do? I wager you'd like to meet the men."

Yeah. You would. He's still looking around though, suspiciously. The walk he's going on is taking a strange, circuitous route, with some loops around. You're getting sore and sick of walking and a little relieved when he finally stops. He looks back, frowns.

"Dr. Rook, you don't happen to have a friend following us, do you?"

thanks for the run OP, go get some sleep

Night System, sleep well. See you next time.

Woohoo! We have a merc company. And on a less awesome note, we have a tail. Though we might get to see Kooji beat them to death with their own spine, we'd probably swoon if we saw that.
>>
>>29966803

10 bucks says its andy.

Thanks for running System~

>we'd probably swoon if we saw that.
lol at that mental image

>Kooji stands over the corpse, detached spinal column still in hand, his coat and face covered in blood, still dripping and pooling around himself and the body.
>Miranda watches on, her body tingling at such a display of strength and manliness and before she knows it has opened her mouth, "Take me, take me now!", and she tackles him to the ground.

We love you with all our heart, sexy.
Get your sleep.

"nope"

Good thread
see you later, System

Andy did say he hired a P.I to find Low, maybe the P.I is looking into us with how weird we've been behaving dealing with the shit of our boss and coworkers.

Would be hilarious if thats the case.
>"What do you mean she went and bought an army!?" says Low, looking at a series of photos with Miranda strangely and sharply dressed, brief surface thoughts of barracuda's bubble on the edge of his mind, "I thought she only wanted a raise?"
>>
>>29966803
"Captain Koojimans, I don't have any friends."
>>
>>29966859
But that'd get blood all over the suit! On the other hand, it might be hot to stain our pure white suit with blood. Kinda appropriate for losing our virginity.

Though Miranda might wait long enough to get out of public first.

Later, after Knights Global becomes a success she might be asked why a Mathematician decided to get involved with PMC business, we'll say it was become of the economics of it, and because it provided a challenge. The reality is we were really fucking bored and lonely, and then came to love war and hot mercenary loving.

Ah! I missed SEQ!

We would need to lay out the worst and the best scenarios for Kooji.
Best case it's an escort hired by our boss. Worst case, unlikely but possible: some competitor out to grab me for the model design. I doubt it's that but keep an eye out, would you?
