You are Geo von Hunter, captain of the Royal Galleon of Astrava, in service to her Majesty, Queen Adelida.

And you have just been accused of treason.

Roughly hauled to court by the man who framed you, you were subjected to a quick and unfair trial, and sentenced to execution.

You have been found guilty, and now you sit a prison cell, counting the precious hours away.

As you sit against the cell wall, a guard comes up, the same who has come up to you many times before.

And once more, she asks the same question. “Did you do it?”.

She wants to know if you really abduct the Queen, committing those acts you were framed for.

And once more, you say:
>Yes.
>No.

She looks at you cautiously, then slides the plate of food your way.

“Do you like moldy bread?” With that, she shoulders her rifle and walks away. You look at the bread. Indeed, it has a bit of mold. Tearing it off, you catch a glimpse of paper inside. A note! You gently take it out, and open it.

“Knock the executioner off the stage. Our mutual friend will loosen your bindings for you.”

Considering the words, you fold the piece of paper up, and slide it in your pocket. As your fingers go in, they touch a small, wooden box. You completely forgot that was there. Felling the box with your hands, you think about its contents and the memories it contains. All those times with friends.

With those memories, you strengthen your resolve.

The guard comes by again. “I need your plate.”

You give it to her, and say:

“No, I don't like moldy bread.” You say, but she gives no glimmer of recognition. As she walks away, you call out to her.

“Thanks.”

“You're welcome.”

Her voice is small, but that acknowledgment cheers you up nonetheless.

Your execution is tomorrow. As you sit back and watch the world outside the cell window, a small thunk interrupts your reverie.
It's the guard. She sits down, across from you, raising her finger to her lips.

“I got lucky. The guy on night shift with me is a heavy sleeper. What did you say your name was?

You stick out your hand. “Geo von Hunter.”
“Tenna. Tenna Wache.”

“pleased to make your acquaintance!” You say, flashing her a smile, and she responds likewise, remarkably warmer compared to earlier in the day.

"A hero? me?"

"You did say you were falsely framed, didn't you?"

'Yes..well, let me tell the story."

You start from your first posting and fill her in on the incidents that happened, though you lighten it up a bit, avoiding focus on all the damage done. Finally, you finish. Leaning back, you say "Typical, isn't it, I sign up for a dangerous job in the navy, and it's politics that kill me."

She giggles a bit, covering her mouth. “You're not making any of this up, are you?”

You shake her head, and she stares at you in disbelief.

“Wow....then you were telling the truth.”

“Yep.”

“Do you know where the Queen is now?”

You speculate for a little bit, and a serious look comes into her eyes.

“What do you say we rescue her?”

“What?”

She raises her hand, holding the keyring and shakes it.

“One little turn, and we're out of here.”

“I'm sorry, but we should stick to the plan. You loosen my bindings, I knock the executioner off, and we deal with whatever happens next.”

“Oh, yes, that.” She says snapping her fingers. “I figured you would ask about that, so I spent this afternoon filing away at those links.” grabbing a pair of cuffs, she tugs them, and they snap apart. As the chains bounce around the room, both you and her stiffen at the noise.
The other guard lets loose a snore.

“Okay, let's do it.” She smiles, and unlocks the door and your bindings. Moving around, you test our flexibility.

“Oh, and put these on.” She throws you the coat and pants of a guard, and you hurriedly put them on, following her as she starts walking. Her path leads you out the backdoor of an empty guardhouse, and soon you find yourself on the streets. Together, the two of you make your way down to the harbor.

“Right there.”

Hiding behind a pair of crates, you point out the USS Ballista, which has only a few sentries on it.

“How are we going to get there?”

You consider your options.

You whisper the plan to Tenna, who nods. Immediately, you walk out in broad sight, and approach the guards.

“Oi, what are you doing?”

“Remember me?”

they stare at you.

Then you sock one of them in the jaw and take off. They draw their swords and take off after you, screaming and raising all hell. Looking back, you see Tenna neatly jump into a barrel, right before some more crew members pass her by.

It's up to you, now. Leading them on a merry chase, you duck through the alleyways and streets, but unfortunately, the guards don't stop. Instead, they run harder, and soon more join them, and you are being chased by a veritable pack. Up down..left...right. No matter where you go, more spot you, and soon, you find yourself headed back the way you came. Running back onto the docks, you see the ship once more, a few more crew members on them. Barreling into them, you stumble past, and dash up the bowspirit, drawing a sword.

The entire crew faces you, weapons drawn.

With a mighty yell, you throw yourself in to the onslaught, sword lashing out. You are a whirling dervish of steel, a storm against the flow, a rebel against the rulers.

But it is not enough. Small cuts drain your energy, and it takes all your focus to avoid shots fired your way. Slowly, you are worn down. And at long last, you finally fall once your sword shatters against a mast. Dropping to your knees, you stare at the mast, which supported your back for so long. It has been riddled with bullets, scarred by swords, as is splintering.

You attack it with your head.

A mighty thud is heard, and the mast begins to creak. Slowly, it tumbles, and you watch as it falls backwards, collapsing into the other mast, and into the cabin.

That's damage enough, don't you think? You vision grows black, and you find yourself utterly exhausted. You collapse onto the floor, tired and unfeeling.

You wake in chains, and find a guard at the other end dragging them.

Waking up, you step onto your feet, and the man drags to the executioner's block. Set in a massive courtyard, you looks around, where you can see hundreds of soldiers and civilians gathered.

“Geo von Hunter, you have been found guilty of abducting the Queen, conspiracy against the government, mutiny against your superior officers, and deserting your post. What say you?”

you turn at the familiar voice.

It's Seigrid, in the clothes of a proclaimer. He winks at you, and gestures his head towards the executioner standing beside you.

You know your part.

“I didn't do it! Let me GO!” With a thunderous roar, you pull apart the cuffs binding you, and headbutt the executioner, who stumbles backwards, falling off the stage. Darting down the stairs, you bolt for the exit-only to b met by a formation of soldiers with rifles trained on you.

Raising your hands up, you let the soldiers pin your arms behind your back and throw chains on you once more. The speaker looks at you, a sly grin on his face, and speaks.

“By your actions on this stage, the Court finds the perpetrator of these acts guilty of high treason, and sentenced to execution. Begin.”

With a wave of his hand, the crowd begins to yell at you, calling you a traitor to the crown, a bastard, and many other things. As the executioner clambers their way on stage and pushes you you towards the stand, you kneel at the bloodstained block, and lay your head down.

Now who will save the queen?

You think back a few weeks, to how this all began. Having just been accepted into the Navy, you received your orders to your first deployment. A lot of things happened, leading up to this. And there is only one answer.

You.

As the axe comes down, you hear it break metal.

A familiar voice rings out. “As the proclaimer said, the perpetrator of these acts are guilty of high treason. But his man is not the perpetrator!”

You look to executioner, who rips of her hood.

“I am Queen Adelida of Ashtrava, and this man is innocent!” With her sudden announcement, the crowd is in an uproar. Staring at the back of the crowd, you see Captain Lignoon. He argues angrily with one of his men, and suddenly mounts on a horse, riding away.

You look at Adelida, and she points.

“Go after him! He still has Tenna!” Instantly, your mind makes the connection, and you:

>Leap out of the courtyard, sliding on rope down to the docks.
>Leap on a nearby horse, and give chase.
>Other.

Jumping off the elevated stage, someone yells at you.

“Catch!”

turning around, you snatch a sword and pistol out of midair. Seigrid waves at, you and turns to deal with pirates coming you way.

'go on, Captain, we'll hold them off!” His sword flashes left and right, taking them out, and you turn and jump off the balcony, throwing the manacle chains over the rope and sliding down. Your descent whisks you by the entirety of the area, and you drop off onto a tower. Two guards face you, staring in awe, and you take the chance to slip by them, down onto the docks. Staring up the street, you can see Lignoon charging your way, riding full tilt on his horse. you:

>Headbutt that horse.

As he charges, hoping to trample you, you lean in.

and headbutt that horse.

You hear a mighty crack, and the horse's body flops uselessly, throwing Lignoon off. Picking himself off, he turns back, and fires his pistol your way, forcing you into cover. As he does so, he hobbles onto the ship, and they quickly take off, cannons firing and damaging the area nearby. As the dock beneath your feet wobbles, you, lean back sliding along it as it sinks. Reach the edge, you take a mighty leap for the Ballista.

And fall. The ship's distance is to great, your speed, too slow.
Suddenly, a hard surface stops you.

You look around, and see that you have landed on the surface of a ship.
“The Trinity awaits your orders, sir!”

Looking towards the helm, you can see your old friends.

And some new ones.

Serseri, Alantra, Seigrid, Verdere, Nast, Queen Adelida....and Tenna? Seeing your confusion, she winks.

Queen told me to get to this ship and stayed hidden. She said you would do much more damage if you got to heroically chase Lignoon.

You look at them all and:

“Turn about! We've got a treasonous captain right in our sights, and no reason to let him go!”

You turn your friends, and wink.

“by the way, you were right on target.”

It may be just your imagination, but you swear that several faces reddened at that.

With a huge grin on your face, you order the ship forward, and the sails bulge with wind. Here, with all your friends, onboard the Trinity, you feel ready for anything. As the ship charges, you check down below, where Seigrid orders the gunners into positions. He acknowledges your presence with a nod, and you turn to check on the rest. Alantra stands at the wheel, steering the ship, and Verdere stands nearby, admiring the ship ans it moves. You can see Serseri and Tenna preparing weapons, and checking in the doctor's quarters, you see Nast is treating Queen Adelida's wound.

With that, you take your leave.

“Ship in range!” A crewman yells, and you look starboard. There, you can see the Ballista, slowing down. You:

“Cannons, fire at will!”

You hear Seigrid bellow orders, and the cannons rap off a quick staccato, peppering the enemy. You turn about, hoping to hit them with another broadside, but the ship rolls, throwing off your cannons. Suddenly the ship tilts, and falls in a slant, gaining speed. Looking at Alantra, you see her desperately working the wheel, aiming for this opportunity. As your ship slides underneath the other, another broadside is released, smashing into the hull.

“This is our chance! Alantra, ram them! As she spins the ship on its axis, you notice the opposition do likewise. Running to the bowsprit, you grab the bow and lean out.

The ships collide with a crash, and you leap to the opponents boat and dash forward, the vanguard in the fight. Sword swinging, you dispatch of an enemy passing you and counter another, sword whipping him away.

Then, the rest of the pirates rush at you, and you brace your sword.

Then they fall as thunder roars at behind you.

Looking behind you, you see your crew following your charge, bayonets, rifles, and swords at the ready. Taking your chance, you dart into the opposing crowd, spinning whirling, dancing past enemy blows. You see Lignoon, standing at the enemy helm, bristling with fury. He draws his sword and points it at you.

“You will die, Ensign, for you are not the Hunter in this fight, but the Hunted!”

>Headbutt, cross-counter, fire gun-Results, 1, followed by 99.

You're not going to headbutt him.

You're going to headbutt the sword. Swinging forward, you meet steel with skull. And you feel a cutting sensation. The sword sinks, and you watch as Lignoon lets go, yet the sword stays stuck. He grins, but you feel no pain.

Only anger. Pulling the blade, it slides out with a slick noise, and you touch that area.

What meets your finger is a matted lair of hair and blood, just thick enough to protect your skull.

But Lignoon does not know. Seeing you standing, despite the fact a sword was wedged in your skull, he backs away, waving a cutlass around ineffectually.

You grin, and charge at the man, bringing your sword to bear. Launching a flurry of slashes , you weaken his defense, and knock away his sword. As it falls, he swings a massive punch at you.

You duck, and swing your arm inside his arc, smashing his face, and knocking him back. Charging in, you draw your pistol and work the hammer, unloading the gun into him at close range. Finally, you draw you head back, and slam it against his. A crunching noise echos on the deck, and Lignoon is sent back with so much force, he smashes against the weakened mast, which falls with a mighty crack, right onto his leg, pinning him in place.

As he sits there, pinned, you look around. The battle is over. His crew is down, and that is left is him. Suddenly you hear the ship, crack and looking around, you see is start to break apart, sinking. Looking at him, in that trapped state, he glares at you.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Bring peace with your sword!"

You ignore him, dropping your weapon. Instead, you move to the mast, and pull.

“What are you doing, you idiot? Kill me, or leave me to die! Don't bother attempting to spare me with that soft heart of yours!”
You grit your teeth, and continue to tug on the mast.

“You've got a court martial waiting for you, Admiral. I'd hate for you to miss it.”

You tug once more, and behind you, you sense others coming. Seigrid, your friends, the crew.

You heave and pull with all your might.

Then, one more set of hands join, and the mast begins to move. Looking back, you see Kettle shoving the mast. Together, all of you move it off Lignoon, and haul him back to the Trinity.

As you step across the gangplank, the Ballista sinks behind you.

Looking at your crew, you see weary, tired faces.

But they're grinning.

Nodding at them all, your smile shows your appreciation, your joy, your relief.

Your job's done. The Queen's safe.

And now, you can finally......rest........

You knees give under your weight, and you collapse once more. The crew rushes your way, but no one can wake you.

And you lie there, dreaming of nothing at all.

Explanations listed may or may not be canon.
Possible sciencey explanations for stuff happening
>The escape made no sense.
the crew that escaped on the Royal Galleon went to where Geo was headed, got in contact with Tenna, and had her help him out.One of the main cast knew her before, and had her get in position and everything

>He knocked down a horse by headbutting it.
>He headbutted a sword.
Sword was in a shallow angle relative to his skull, so the blade got caught in his hair. Alternately, sword-whale gems strengthens the body.

>His ship magically appeared under him along with his crew.
In the time it takes Geo too slide down the rope, his crew (Really only Seigrid and Queen Adelida )Escape from the people attacking them and jump onto the ship, which is nearby. As Geo heads do the tower and deals with the horse, and hide from gunfire, the ship gets in position. As he jumps and falls, the ship catches him.

Now I don't know if anyone is still in here by now, so if no-one is around to read this I will post it again when the next quest thread starts, but...

Can we please cut down on headbutting everything? I like the whole helmsplitter thing and all, but I feel like it's just becoming a tad too silly when our response to everything is to headbutt it. It kind of detracts from the overall story by making people spam the same answer to every problem, and runs the risk of reducing Geo to a one-trick joke pony.

What say we just save the headbutting for the occasional narratively-appropriate moment?
>>
>>29967175
