This Quest takes place just prior to the Rachni Wars, and by ‘just prior’ I mean it is happening soon, very soon.
I love hearing suggestions for the story, so keep discussion going while I’m writing up the posts.

*/

Laying next the body of a young asari, you silently weep. Tears trace their paths down your blue-toned skin, shivering deeply in the immense pleasure you are feeling, conflicting emotions of terror and ecstasy ripping through your mind, the realization of your true nature inspiring the fear of where your future will leave you… But also an innate desire to commit the act again…

You, young Asari, are Vayle, born on the Asari homeworld Thessia. Studying for the past 50 years to become an exobiologist, you had met Rhey in the bio-lab you both served internships in, and as time went on working with her you soon fell in love after receiving your respective PhD’s in the field. The night had been full of revelry, two young Maidens completing the first stages of a long journey into education and adventure with the species of the citadel, traveling to the farthest corners of the Milky Way to research new life forms, form bonds with many people, and discover the secrets of the unknown. The two of you, after a long night of dancing and drinking throughout your home-city, you made your way home, Rhey had surprised you by handing you a bottle of pills labeled ‘Hallex’ before slipping one onto your tongue and hers. The drug had led to passion, and that passion, to the situation you are in now.
(cont.)
>>
As soon as the clothes were gone and both of your eyes had gone black, you felt pulses of heat pass through your body, and a muted screaming piercing your pleasure clouded mind. Once the connection had been broken, Rhey was dead, and a fading biotic glow surrounded your body. You, my dear, are an Ardat’yakshi, a demon of the Night-Wind.

With the Hallex still ripping through your body, and the after-glow of the bonding still in your mind, you scramble to figure out what you should do.

All invalid votes will be disregarded. You must quote the post, and the number verbatim to prevent same-fags.

That's very true.
*sigh* Disregard the verbatim post if it's a write-in, otherwise stick to the rule.

Ardat-Yakshi are rare as fuck. No coroner worth her medical degree is going to look at Rhey and automatically assume foul play, especially not with all that hallex in her system. Leave the pills near her body, they'll chalk it up to an overdose, and you can get the fuck out of dodge. Speaking of which, now might be a great time to be someplace else.

Okay, we're Ardat-Yakshi. If anyone finds out, our life is over. They're sending us to a convent where we'll do nothing but meditate for the rest of our incredibly long life.

I say we start planning our escape from Thessia now. Grab whatever credits Rhey might have had lying around, maybe a change of clothes and any ID she has around. We might be able to impersonate her long enough to get off-world before anyone figures out it was us.

Then we move on to 1, cause we can't just leave the body here. Disposing of it will buy us time, and time is what we're gonna need.
>>
Obscuring cause of death should be done by immolation. Only real option.

Burning bodies has an ODOR though. Then again, rather be charged with murder than as a known AY.
>>
>>29851786
I've done it when there was only one other participant.
(that only lasted for maybe two QM posts, at which point other people had noticed, and then the /a/ mods noticed and deleted the thread)
>>
>>29851887
We're already suspect #1 for her disappearance. We have minimal time before they start coming after us for murder.

Plus we can take the body to another site (Space garbage bags) before burning it.
>>
Acting on self-preservation instinct, you decide to hide evidence of murder by disposing of the body. You clothe her, take the bottle of Hallex pills, and slip it into her jacket-pocket. You continue to cry lightly as your drag her lifeless form across the floor and out the back entrance of your ground-level apartment. The exit leads to a dark back-alley, the smell of garbage flooding your over-active senses. You take several Hallex pills and drop them on the ground surrounding Rhey in order to make the situation look like an overdose, placing her back against the dumpster so she is hidden from the streets’ view.

You head back into the apartment and grab several essentials, shoving them into your back-pack, before hailing a cab to take you to the nearest space-port. The volus driver scans your credit-chit, and in the way that only a volus taxi-cabbie can do, aggressively gets you to the spaceport despite the immense volume of traffic surrounding it. At this point you have stopped crying, but your mind is dominated by dread, and the desire to feed again.

Where do you flee?
>Thessia, hopefully you can find help there.
>The Citadel, the trillions of citizens will be easy to hide among.

>>
>>29851927
>Omega
For now.
Fleeing to the homeworld would be a terrible idea unless we want to get killed.
The Citadel has a lot of positive points but is too close to a serious police force. It'd be a good place to at least visit in the future, though.
Omega offers us expendable people and a lot of potential jobs where people won't ask questions.
>>
>>29851927
>The Citadel, the trillions of citizens will be easy to hide among.

Too much of a chance on Thessia that this will happen again, and we'll be surrounded by people likely to recognize what it is.

I would say Omega, but it's too dangerous for us as we are now. On the Citidel we might be able to find some weapons and maybe even a little training if we're lucky.
>>
>>29851943
So long as it didn't look like biotics, we could probably get away with making her look like meat. I think we're still too innocent for that right now though.

Read the wiki links in the OP. A-Y genes are carried by a fairly large minority, but very few of the carriers actually develop into full-blown A-Y.

they usually monestary them as babies because it is heriditary and they know

>>
You tap your fingers nervously against your arm rest, gazing out the window at the purple-blue haze of faster than light travel surrounding the ship. Luck had been on your side as you tried finding a pilot crazy enough to fly into the almost-universally known haven of crime and criminality. A small group of Turians were advertising a charity-service for the poor on Omega. Being the… ‘kind-hearted’ asari that you are, you offered to help “Because you feel really, really, really bad for them.” After a few awkward exchanges between the group and yourself, you board a flight straight to Omega.

The flight for the most part is uneventful, the civilian ship you are on is quite tiny, but in decent shape. There isn’t room enough to walk around, but you do have a bench-like seat to yourself. The trip took several hours, during which you shoved the image of Rhey’s death to the back of your mind, you can mourn when you’re safe; the pilot was oddly skilled in navigating the relays. In the distance, you see the ominous red glow of the Omega-4 relay, and farther beyond that, an asteroid field, one asteroid in particular being larger and with a tail—like structure built onto the end.

The lack of customs means you get off the ship quickly, several batarians eyeball you, and laugh, as you glance at a rusty terminal showing a map of the station. From the looks of it, the floor you are on is dominated by shops and a large club named Afterlife. You're stressed beyond all reasonable belief, and you have no idea where you are going to stay, not to mention you don't even have a weapon to defend yourself... Of course your fledgling biotics could come in handy if you trained them.

What do you do?

To clarify this, they don't know when someone is an A-Y. First of all, only a pure-blood Asari is at risk of A-Y, which post-space age are pretty rare due to cultural stigma. And even then, it's about 1% of 1% of Ardat Yakshi that have the deadly 'strain' like Morinth.

You ignore the glares of the Batarians, and follow the map to the merchant district of the station. The rag-tag collection of shops are surprisingly lively, Volus, Turians, Salarians, Vorcha, and even the rare Asari or two are all around, talking to merchants, browsing through shop-kiosks. Defense being your primary concern, you make a bee-line to “Algot’s Weaponry, pointy things and booms for all”. The shop-keeper is a large Turian male, he glances up at you from the rifle he was polishing and lets out a small laugh once he sees you, “Ey’ what’s a girl like you doing on Omega? You look like you’re about to shit yourself!” he laughs and you give him a look that could have sent a justicar running. He stads up, the giggles dying off,
“Now then, what can I get you?”

Please read lore surrounding the ME universe.

Afterlife was a club founded by the founder of Omega, an unamed krogan warlord. Aria became this guy's head of security, and she ended up overthrowing him. You meet him in ME2, his name is 'Patriarch', a name Aria gave him to be insulting as possible.
>>
>>29852971
Probably a Plothole in the universe. Because afterlife's founding was before the all-out outbreak of Rachni Wars.

Anyways, it'll be easy to gloss over, the situation could be just like the Shadow Broker, or atleast that's how I'm portraying it.

You slide the pistol into the waist-band of you pants, the jacket concealing it. Your omni-tool flashes a bit as the shop-keeper programs the new blade. Your balance dropping down to 2000 credits, you make your way back to a map terminal, you feel much more confident now that you are wielding something to protect you, the atmosphere of Omega feeling a lot less dangerous than before. You’re still homeless at the moment, but that can be quickly rectified by heading to any of the residential districts in the area.

You feel an arm on your shoulder, quickly turning you notice two of the batarians from earlier. The one with his hand on your shoulder pushes you into the wall, the hall-way you are in is primarily empty, minus yourself and the batarians.

“So how about giving us that credit chit before we have an issue here?”

The omniblade flares in existence as you drive your hand towards the Batarian’s stomach, being unarmored, the blade goes straight through him. He coughs up a decent amount of blood onto you, before collapsing to the ground. The omniblade dissipates, and you quickly pull your gun from your waist, you tremble slightly as you aim it at the other two Batarians. Before you have the chance to say something, they quickly run off, apparently being unarmed besides brawn. You gag slightly as you rifle through the batarian’s pockets, finding a chit that reads 400 creds, and pocket lint.

You gather yourself, and run from the scene, thankfully on Omega a dead batarian won’t bring much attention, but that’s the second life you’ve taken in the short amount of time. Now armed, and as the Batarian proves, dangerous, you find another map kiosk, taking care to find one in a much more public area. Gazing at the orange dot signifying “You are here!”, you plot yournext destination. The amounts of credits you have can definitely afford a small apartment, but adrenaline is still coursing through your body from the prior encounter, maybe you should expend it?

How does AY killing work, anyway? Can we just mindrape people to death or do we need to get them in the mood?

They never say anything but mating, which is the contestable part.

>eat
You walk into a small bar, mostly empty, and a salarian manning the bar. The few tables in the room are taken, so you sit at the bar, order cheap, but filling, bar-food, the mundane act of eating calming you down from the prior murder(s). Sitting there, lost in thought, you don’t notice a Quarian female sit down next to you,

“Hey, you there? Hellloooooooo” She says, waving her hand in front of your face, shocking you out of your thought-process. You look at her, noticing her lightly bioluminescent eyes, you mutter a greeting to her,

“So what’s an Asari like yourself doing in a run-down place like this? Are you in that ‘fuck settling down, I’m gonna go do what I want phase’? Or just poor?”

You laugh, and tell her that you’re traveling around, exploring the universe and what-not. Time flies by as the two of you strike up a long conversation, she introduces herself as “Mel’”, and as the bar-keep announces that he’s closing shop for a few hours, the two of you walk out, thick as thieves at the point. She never exactly tells you how she got to Omega, but she reveals that she works as an engineer down in the eezo mines of the asteroid. Before you know it, she’s holding open a door for you,

“So do you want to stay over? You look like you’ve been through hell today!”

For one, all of the sex scenes in ME2 involve a fade to black, so that proves nothing

The two of you continue talking, Mel puts on a holo-vid, and the two of you have an over-all nice chat, the quarian constantly switching into techno-babble about the power of the drills, and the calibrations required for maximum eezo yield, etcetera before apologizing, laughing, and asking you questions about your past. You avoid most of the questions of your past, simply chalking everything up to your status as an Asari maiden.

Mel stretches her arms into the air as she stands up and grabs a drink from the small kitchen, you watch as she does so, an innate hunger you recognize as the Ardat Yakshi desire nags you, but it is easy to ignore at this point, assuming you don’t want to indulge the feeling.
“What are you doing so far from Rannoch? From what I’ve heard Quarians seem to love that planet, the holos on it are certainly beautiful,” You ask her, she glances down, and dodges the question shoddily by asking if you want something to drink.

She takes another sip, “When someone dies, we imprint their personality into a VI-like system, obviously they aren’t sentient, it’s illegal to make sentient virtual life, but they retain the personality and knowledge they had upon death,” sip, “My grandmother died a few years ago, she was a well-respected engineer, she taught me everything I know, and upon consulting her VI for advice, my grandmother revealed that she was the founder Ahn’Qui, a group of terrorists on Rannoch…” You look at her with a shocked expression, Ahn’Qui were well known even on Thessia… “And I was exiled from the planet, because they assumed I worked for her.”

Christ, just because we got our first hit of murder high, doesn't mean we instantly start killing the first person who's been nice to us!

First, we get a job as a back-alley doctor.

Then we get some hideously wounded alien, just inches away from death anyways, no way to save them... it wouldn't really be wrong to finish them off, would it? It'd be a mercy killing, if you think about it.

Then we're just so /hungry/, so we try to find acceptable targets. But that doesn't fix it, can't find enough, fast enough, available enough. We *need* the next hit. We'll die if we don't get it. It's us or them, really.

*Then* we start killing anyone and everyone.

Success.

You and Mel break away from the embrace, and sit back down on the couch to watch the holovid. The two of you continue to chat into the night, more comfortable with eachother than ever before. It goes late into the 'night', you suggest going to bed soon.
>Time-skip
>Ask questions (Write in, I'll answer any given question, these questions are purely informative, it's too late in the night to train or something else.)

>Time-skip
I can't think of any infoquestions to ask right now.
>>
>>29855545
Any job opportunities you know about? I have a PhD in exobiology, if that helps.
>>
>>29855462
The system essentially works like this, every day you go without a kill, the DC drops by 5 until pausing at 10, each person you kill resets the process to 30, and increases by 5 every time you 'consume' during that day.
>>
>>29855545

I want to ask about her work. Eezo mining may not be glamorous, but it's interesting that she's all the way out here. Is she employed by a corporation? Or is it the local criminal organization running Omega that's her employer?
>>
>>29855606
One roll or best of three?
>>
>>29855592
Mel rubs her chin in thought, "I can't really think of anything that would require that, but if anyone is looking for help you could ask the bar-keepers in afterlife, they seem to know a lot about what's going on in Omega."
>>
>>29855606
Shouldn't it go the opposite? The longer we go without killing the more we feel the need to, thus forcing us to kill every so often to reset our DC so we don't accidentally feed on anyone we care about? Otherwise, its pointless to feed.
>>
>>29855650
Best of 3

>>29855635
"I don't exactly know what to call my employers, we just call them the 'bosses' since they get orders from somewhere and pay us for our work. Beyond that I don't really know, probably the 'owner' of Omega, whoever that is."
>>
>>29855694
AYs aren't space vampires, there's no requirement to feed. The monasteries work just fine. The act is addictive but with a constant low-level 'I should fuck this person to death' even if you never do it.
>>
>>29855694
Currently, we aren't addicted to the process of feeding, since it's relatively easy to resist, after we kill 5 people, that's how the system will work (The way you described it)
>>
>>29855754
It should probably be an inverted U, with an spike in the middle that gets bigger and bigger the more you feed. Just did somebody in? Don't need another hit. Haven't got a hit in a bit? Cravings are starting up, need another hit - worse the more you've indulged. Gone cold turkey? Well, it'll never go away, but you've gotten used to it.

After falling asleep on the couch, you wake up several hours later in Mel’s apartment. As you open your eyes, your vision is blocked by a piece of paper stuck to your forehead, which you quickly peel off and read. “Gone to work, I’ll be back in about 8 hours, I put our omnitool info into our contacts so we can reach eachother, - Mel”

Stretching your arms and legs, you grab your bag, secure your gun, and pull on your jacket as you leave the room. After the night with Mel, you’re in far better spirits, inspiring you to walk around the station, which you do for an hour or so until you are approached by a heavily armored Batarian. “You there, Asari. The Boss is asking to see you.” You refuse, and begin to walk away, until you feel the barrel of an assault rifle placed against your head. “That wasn’t an offer, it was an order.” Putting his gun down, he leads you past the crowds waiting outside of the club ‘Afterlife’, into the club. The music was deafening and the strippers were doing their hardest to seduce the customers. The batarian leads you through a side door, stairs on the other side of it. “He’s waiting up there, go ahead.”

You climb the stairs, at the top of which you find yourself in a small room overlooking the club, sitting on the couch is a monstrous creature who’s face, or atleast what you assume is its face, is covered in scars.

“Ahh, so you’re the Asari who killed Grul last night?” He asks in a baritone, scratchy voice. “Confused? Good, Grul was simply a street thief, who owed me a good sum of money. And as his killer, you’re now the owner of his debt, congratulations.”

“But enough business!”, he gestures for you to sit in the chair opposite him, “Tell me what an Asari from Thessia is doing in my own personal hell?”

What do you say?

>“His debt? He fucking tried to mug me! Why do I have to pay it?”
> Sit silently
> Take the seat, “Unfortunate circumstances.”

"What the hell are you, and his debt? He fucking tried to mug me! Why do I have to pay it?”

You yell at the creature across the room, who simply laughs at you. "When someone owes me money, they become an asset to me, and when someone destroys my asset," he nods towards you, "They owe me for destroying my property."
"As for what I am, I'm a krogan, native to the glorious ball of dust Tuchanka. But my story isn't nearly as interesting as yours is."

"For instance," he slides a datapad to you, "Why the Asari Government is out for your blood,"

You glance at the news report on the datapad, it details the 'Alleged murderer at large, Vayle Reitra, fled from Thessia... Thessian Matriarchs have placed an immensely large bounty on the head of this young Maiden."

The... 'krogan' laughs again at the shock on your face. "Do tell, what's got the Blue-Ones so riled up?"

Your body is glowing slightly at this point, the anxiety and fear waking your biotics up. You attempt to suppress the feeling of rage inside you, which only works slishglty.

"I killed her." you whisper,

"Ahh, but a simple murder wouldn't make you an intersolar criminal, now would it? You see, if you don't cooperate, I could simply kill you and ship your body to Thessia, that would more than repay your debts, or you can give me the truth about yourself, she-demon.

Your biotics flare again, sending the datapad crashing to the ground. You glare daggers into the beast. "After paying informants on Thessia to rexplain the situation, they explained the tale of the Ardat Yakshi, she-demon."

"Which places you in the perfect position to become my personal assassin. What do you say? Head on a platter for the Matriarchs? Or a time of luxurious employment?" He grins, an abomination of an expression coming from his mouth, a biotic glow of his own far stronger than yours surrounds him.

My thoughts on this: The mind connection is an uncontrollable thing. When the Asari is in the mood, they automatically reach out to meet the other person's mind. Making it happen and stopping it from happening are both possible, but both also require a lot of practice. It's an...involuntary response, kinda like an orgasm. Controllable, but only to a point.
>>
>>29857998
Wait... how the fuck does that work? Biotics are like, telekinesis. They work by effecting the mass of objects and shit. How does that become mind control?
>>
>>29858068
>Ardat Yakshi orgasms are fatal to the one providing them
... does this have unfortunate implications re: masturbation?
>>
>>29858153
Not what I meant. The lack of ability to stop it is similar to the lack of ability to control an orgasm.
>>
>>29858135
>How does that become mind control?
Because Bioware cannot into lore consistency. The asari did have some sort of kooky brain powers in the first game, though those required direct contact.
>>
>>29858214
That's just how they have sex, though.
>>
>>29858214
The AVERAGE asari. An Ardat-Yakshi would probably have this to a greater extent.
>>
>>29858256
Thats like saying since the average man can lift something heavy, a bodybuilder can lift something without even touching it. The very nature of asari interfacing requires skin contact. Or required, they likely retconned it when they added in asari air kisses or whatever.
>>
>>29858306
Maybe it's some kind of concentrated version of the fuckme aura (or whatever the hell it is that makes asari universally attractive). That's the only thing that makes any kind of sense.
>>
>>29858306
>the average asari does this with only a really close proximity, isntead of a direct link from one nervous system to the other
>The Average Asari can do this from a distance (the outer layer of each partner's skin)
>The Ardat-Yakshi can do more from a greater distance, purely because they can do a fuckton more with the same amount of effort, or the same through another's skin
>Morinth was as powerful as a dedicated, extremely disciplined Asari Justicar who was twice her age due to how many victims she got
>>
>>29858399
The problem is that for normal asari, melding is equivalent to sex.

Ardat-Yakshi kill their sex partners.

Therefore, it can't be a variant on melding, since melding is fatal for Ardat-Yakshi.
>>
>>29858399
>(the outer layer of each partner's skin)
Wrong, they actually do burrow into your skin. Thats the whole thing about asari sex, your two nervous systems become one and you feel everything they feel. This is supposed to be literally impossible to do without direct contact.

But like I said, retcons.
>>
>>29858465
Actually, that's exactly what it is, as Samara explains. A variant of melding.
>>
>>29858507

Or the kill touch?

>>29858475
Wait, really? Wow, they screwed the pooch on that one.
>>
>>29858465

>>
>>29858552
Yeah, the kill touch is a variant on melding.
