You are Kaleb Wisniewski, eighteen years old, senior in high school, first successful cured patient of A2NV. The doctor who did it is celebrating how famous he’s about to be while waiting for your lung biopsy to come back while the president just declared a state of emergency and martial law, during a media blackout. Oh, and you’re more or less locked in your school with all the shitheads that go here, about a hundred of which are infected. That’s on top of you still feeling like shit because half your lungs are still fluid due to the cytokine storm or something.

Once you get out of here, there’s supposed to be some sort of meet-up amongst your friend’s at Ian’s place. His dad is on a business trip so the whole house is free. Problem is, that plan was made before three days in a chemically induced coma. You might have a bit of catching up to do.

Most importantly, you’re hungry and someone has your dog. But you’re also stripped to your boxers and alone in the nurse’s office.

The coma is still lingering in your body, but you’ve dealt with worse. You get to your feet, using the cushioned table to support your weight till the felling in your knees comes back. on the assumption that some random suburban township wouldn’t get much government support, they probably sent barely anyone more than the chink and the teachers will be as susceptible to the flu as anyone else if they even stuck around.

So if nothing else, you can be sure they were supremely lazy. When you crouch down to start looking around the corners of the office for your clothes, you get a good whiff of yourself. You normally have a pretty crappy sense of smell, bordering on anosmia sometimes, but even you can smell yourself after three days. Bed cramps are a bitch too. You must have barely moved while sleeping.

“Lazy motherfucker,” you whisper as you spot your clothes wadded up and thrown in the corner. You snatch them up and give them a good sniff, better than you. You take a moment to get back in your clothes, but leave your hunting coat off, too warm inside. When you step out of the office to the management hall for the school, you take a listen for anyone nearby. You can of course hear the hundreds of students still locked inside due to martial law, but the office is dead quiet. Save for the doctor.

“What do you mean the test was negative? That’s fucking impossible. I checked him out myself. He had all of the symptoms and I took the biopsy before I started treatment,” he shouts. He’s in the counselor’s office with the door closed, but you can hear him clear as day.

“No I did not mistake seasonal flu symptoms for A2NV, I’m not some amateur. He certainly had a cytokine storm when I injected him with the OX40. I’ve already started the treatment with great success on twenty other patients before I ran out of medicine. Sure, one patient could have recovered from the storm on his own, but the others will compensate for that statistical improbability. But I am sure he was infected with the-“

Someone grabs you from behind, shutting your head off in panic as you spin around on your assailant. You do manage to stay quiet though. Jon, not so much. He’s barely containing his laughter, then he holds up two fingers and smiles. “Oh son of a bitch,” you mumble as you flinch up and he nails you in the shoulder twice. You growl back at him. Jon’s stripped to his pants, but doesn’t seem to mind. He looks sick too, but he’s still acting like his usual self, though his breath smells like absolute shit. He steps back and waves you away.

“Just, test it again. I’ll get you another biopsy, the infection may have just been localized at the start. It will have spread at least in a dormant or dead state. I did not make a mistake,” the doctor finishes.

You can tell the doctor will be out any moment, so you quickly follow behind Jon to the athletic director’s office. He clicks the door shut behind you before turning to you with a big grin on his face. As he starts talking, you notice the small prick of a biopsy needle in his lower chest, most likely matching your own. “Sup Thirteen, I’m Seventeen.”

“You’re infected too?”

“Cured too. Lucky fucking us man,” Jon responds before whistling and pushing his curly hair back.

His breath hits you and rankles your nose. “Your breath smells like shit, Jesus Christ.”

“So does yours jackass. Neither of us have brushed our teeth in like three days. Of course we have halitosis. More importantly though, we gotta get the fuck out of here. It’s happening.”

“Dude, I gotta get my dog and shit. But what’s happening? The state of emergency thing? Martial law? This pandemic’s apparently serious, but that doesn’t mean unmitigated doom,” you respond as you hear the doctor walk back to the nurse’s office. “Funny thing, I don’t think he knows my name.”

“Nah, Dr. Chink is shitty with names. Anyways. Let me ask you something. If the zombie apocalypse were happening right this instant, what would you do?”

“I’d get in my car and run. But serious the fuck up Jon, what the fuck are you saying? Are you trying to tell me there’s an army of the undead out there or something?”

Jon’s grinning like that time he came to tell you he had just bought four cartons of eggs and had already sporked a dragon dong across the entire football field. “Nah man, that’s the stupid way out. Think about it man, way more people live in urban areas like this than can possibly get out, and they’d all want out. Traffic would be a fucking nightmare, and all it takes is one person to turn in the car to cause the other passengers to abandon it, thus creating a road block that will only spiral out of control. Every road in the country would become hell’s rush hour. You gotta find alternative transport, like a boat or something.”

“That’s not really the point right now, is it? What about gathering your friends up?”

“That’s why I’m here man, me and you,” he says as he steps forward, bouncing his knuckles on your chest. “Think about it man. A simple airborne infection like this wouldn’t shut everything down. They wouldn’t black out the media. It has to be something way bigger. It’s finally zombies, it’s happening man. That’s why Chinglish was biopsying our lungs. They don’t need to do that shit for a flu. There’s a secondary infection out there.”

“Tertiary if you consider the seasonal flu,” you say as you hear the doctor shout out for you. He’ll come looking soon.

“Got any real evidence? You’re kind of being the king of leaps of logic. What if it’s bioterrorism or something?” you ask as yous tart rummaging around the office. If they’re treating the students here, surely there are some medical supplies. Pointy needles, scalpels, something.

“¿Por que no los dos? Bioterrorists released the zombie virus. Hezbollah, homegrown extremists, green peace things humans need a die back, the illuminati need to pull the wool over our eyes for a time to play a little shell game of international politics,” Jon asks as he leans against the far wall, seemingly taking care about the small of his back.

“Subject Thirteen, what are you doing out of bed? You are not recovered,” the doctor asks as he throws open the door. When he notices Jon, disgust and surprise mix on his face for a moment. “Seventeen, what are you doing out of J block?”

“Got a bit stuffy,” Jon answers.

“I clearly am recovered doc, feeling fine.”

“I need to take another biopsy of your lung. There was a discrepancy in the results. It was inconclusive. Now come back to the nurse’s office so I can do this sterile,” the doctor says as he pulls out a handkerchief to blot his forehead.

“Nah, I don’t think he’ll be doing that doc. He’s coming with me,” Jon announces.

“I need to biopsy you again, because the first one had a discrepancy. You were showing the symptoms, but when I checked for the infection, you well, you didn’t have it. I think it means I simply missed the infection site so I’m going to biopsy your other lung this time. I don’t exactly have access to scanners and x-rays here, do I?” he answers.

“Why do you even need a biopsy? I nearly died, and these symptoms are pretty hard to mistake for something else,” you say, leaning on the office desk for support. You’re putting on a strong show, but it isn’t easy.

“What? The A2NV showed up clear as day. That shit’s mostly in your blood anyways. You’re mistaken. I was looking for the secondary infection. The one that caused the state of emergency just now. We’ve known about it for a few days now, and I was sure you had it, but it didn’t show up on the sample.”

“What secondary infection?” Jon asks loudly and seriously. He’s glaring at the doctor.

“Can’t say,” the doctor says as he turns to him and sneers. “Gag order to reduce panic.”

“That why there’s a media blackout? Why you confiscated everyone’s phones and laptops?”

“Why else?”

Jon reaches behind his back. “Start talking,” he commands as he levels a 9mm pistol at the Chinese man’s groin.

“What the fuck is going on out there? Tell me now or I’ll blow your fucking nuts off. I have precision within half an inch at this range which I wager is still dead center on your left testicle. Would you care to start talking?” Jon asks calmly.

“Where the hell did you get that?”

“Some teacher conceal and carry ever since the rise in school shootings. It’s really not surprising. Why do you think we’re in Mr. Latick’s office? But still, start talking.” You glance down and notice that one of the bottom drawers is ajar, with the binders misplaced in it. Shit’s real and probably loaded.

“You think you can threaten me with that? You shoot and you get six police down your ass in an instant, and they’ll kill you. I hope you don’t think I’m the only one who got special orders. And you’re infected still,” the doctor replies with a sly grin.

“That’s still enough time for me to put another bullet through your skull. You don’t want to be dead, you want to go about curing whatever this is. You have more at stake in this little stand off, you lose.”

“You’re just a kid,” the doctor responds, until Jon clicks the hammer back and steps forward.

“Quarter of an inch precision.”

“It was thought to be a benign infection, a fungus of the lungs that would be easily fought off. It’s having bad reactions with people infected with A2NV. IT'S FUCKING Z-DAY.

>>I’m taking the test and staying
If this is a zombie Apocalypse, staying with the doctor and heavily armed guards seems like the smartest decision. And Jon is crazy as fuck, why the fuck do we want to stay with him?
>>
Taking the test, writing

Will also be my final update
>>
>>29842829
staying in a facility in the middle of town that is hosting over a hundred infected patients, and was not designed for containment seems like a dangerous idea to me.
>>
“I’m taking the fucking test. Biopsies are quick, it’ll be fine,” you explain as Jon huffs and turns away. The doctor is blotting his forehead again.

“Good choice Subject Thirteen,” the doctor says as he steps back and opens the office door. The procedure is very quick, but results may take a while.”

“Give me my phone back and you can text me the results or something. You will be confirming that you cured me, right? That you succeeded?”

“Of course, I am very good at what I do,” the doctor responds as he leads you back to the nurse’s office. As you’re let in, you see Jon kick the office door open and storm out, not even looking your way.

“Jon, I’ll be right there!” you shout, but he doesn’t turn back. You wonder if you’ll be seeing him. He may have been your best ticket out of this mess. But then again, just about anything he can do, you’re better at. You sigh and take off your shirt as the doctor prepares a needle.

“This’ll hurt just a tiny bit. At least it’s not a marrow biopsy, right?” the doctor asks as he feels around your ribs. You grimace. It doesn’t hurt at all.

And that's thread two, thoughts?

archive volunteers?

Sorry for running so short, but it's bad to have thread two five days after thread one, so this is better

IT BEGINS
>>
>>29843027

Nah, this was great, I think you progressed the plot more than we got last night, actually.

We had better get fucking superpowers or some shit, I mean, we ARE Subject 13 after all.
>>
>>29843027
I really hope you play this whole zombie thing out well. Depending on what rules you have set up, this could be a very short campaign.

And here I was hoping for super-powers. Ah well.
>>
>>29843027
thx budi
gud run
I like

Maybe you should set up a twitter to announce future runs?

Don't worry about dying

But don't let that be permission to bring out your inner retard

Worry about other people dying
>>

We're still an inexplicable medical mystery in light of this shitstorm, you never know.

Tell me about Kaleb. He's a kid in school. Does he smoke, drink? Has he had sex yet? Is he a baller? Gang banger? These are all things to consider because as of now being a smartass isn't really enough to make him interesting.
>>
>>29847849
I can fill in the blanks if you don't want to

But here's some implications
Drinking would remind him of his father, so while he may drink to fit in, he certainly wouldn't get drunk
He's a hunter and a camper and general outdoorsman, great with a shotgun, okay with a rifle
He sleeps through his classes but not because he's lazy, he does so because he aces all of his classes.
And no, he has not gotten anywhere with a female
or male

Things to consider
>>
Those are the only questions?
>>
Alex Mercer when?
>>
>>29849161
Oh god this. please. not right away mind you, that would ruin the build up. but later, things could get. interesting.
>>
>>29849161
>>29849203
You sure you want to be an avatar of infection that murders everyone around them?

Not to mention it doesn't translate terribly well to quest format
>>
>>29849455
We don't have to go full Avatar of nurgle right away. or at all, just the thought of slowly gaining some measure of control of what we have been infected with slowly building over time seems like a cool concept. The power to not only live through this infection, but also allow others too if they stay with us. The power to alter the viruses effects even later would make us truly a new kind of leader, if this turns out to send the world into the second dark ages.
>>
>>29849499
I think you'd be better off worrying about the immediate concerns
>>
>>29849538
just a thought, and oh immediate concerns are indeed on my mind. like what happened to our dog?
