Story thread. Obviously. Gotta try out our fancy new lightning powers, so we're one step closer to the most coveted of all nicknames (at least amongst those of us who have so little of a life that we're familiar with and fanboys of an obscure UC Gundam character).

YAY STORY TIME
>>
Story it is then.
____
After discussing plans for the night and getting when and where to meet up for the transfer from Lindy-sama, you head back home. It is time to face your parents.

You know that Toshiiro took the offer as he is the third son of his family, which means him leaving and taking this job means a lot to him. Kylie likely took it for the possible adventure, and, well, you are quite sure you know Kyou was talking plainly and straightforward about joining to keep up with you.

Thinking about Toshiiro gets you thinking about your family....

>Are you..

It was self-deprecating humor. I love UC Gundam. My favorite character is Johnny Ridden, who is absurdly obscure.

I don't think Jonny Ridden has been obscure since the Dynasty Warrior Gundam games came out. He's gained a lot of popularity from them.

Well, in the west UC Gundam was not exactly a mainstream fandom, to be honest. Though, I love how complex it is, also at least be happy he has one of the better UC mangas out there. I just love seeing all the MSV in it and the hidden background of a part of Zeon.

Makes me want to try to do a Gihren's Greed Quest.

You could say your family is well off, but it took, and still takes, a lot of work. Otherwise you would probably be at that Ouran school. Not that you would give up your past to be like them. Loafers.

Being the second son means that, while you will end up with a reasonable inheritance, striking out like this could help the family as well as you.

As long as your family believes what you have to tell them. At least the admiral was kind enough to give him a communicator, in case of issues, as well as a dvd for the parents to watch.

Riding up to the gate on your bike, you wave at Vio, the gardener. He helps take care of the small family estate you have. Only a few acres of land, and he keeps on top of it with out issue.

Pulling upto the house, you park your bike, slipping into the house. You notice a note from your mother stating that she and your father will be out for a few more hours.

Knowing you don't need much packed, given you will likely be given clothing for training, you head out back, stopping by your room to get an old and trusted friend.

The bow you created with Father is by your favorite, and, as it has been updated and modified over the years, is tailored to your height and strength. While you are not the powerhouse Toshiiro is, your bow has at least 15 pounds of draw. Enough to feel it, but not enough anymore to really fatigue you quickly these days.

Preforming the proper kyuujutsu rites as you enter the range, you set down your quiver and draw your first arrow, starting with the standing targets.

You take a breath, and line up your first shot, not bothering to aim as you let the arrow choose its own path, showing you the lay of the wind. It hits pretty close to the mark, a small target nailed to a tree a good 500 feet out.

Closing your eyes, you take this information and start using your mathmatical knowledge. Wind, arrow type, the moisture in the air all being rendered into numbers for the formula of your shot.

Picking the second arrow, you keep your eyes shut, trying to reach zen as you finally eye your shot, pulling the bow up, letting yourself feel like you were chargong the arrow with the same feeling as the orb in your chest.

Releasing the arrow, you could swear you see red lightning arcing along the shaft as it shhots dead center into the target, embedding half way.

Deciding to try that again, you draw another arrow. You pull back, running through the motions, ready to release...

>>29819207
When your brother shows up. "Hey Kato-chan!" he practically yells, throwing your aim off, the arrow hitting near the outside of the target.

You sigh a bit, looking at the third arrow. "Good afternoon, brother. I though you knew better then to disrupt someone practicing. Remember the one time you scared Minia-san?" you ask, smirking as he gets a bit red. Ichito, your brother, decided to scare his girlfriend while she was in the middle of a kata. Needless to say, he generally refrained from that these days.

"Yeah yeah. I heard you got let out early for something. Any clue why, little brother?"

You shake your head, chuckling softly. "Nope, you get to find out with mom and dad." you tell him. He nods, patting you on the shoulder with a nod, leaving you for now.

Sad that you have lost the feeling you had for the first arrow, you gaze at the heavily embedded arrow, wondering if there is a scorch mark where it hit.

Unstringing your bow, you head back in, grabbing a carry case for it and 20 practice arrows, in case you get some time to do so.

Grabbing a pair of suitcases, you carefully pack three weeks worth of clothes, including a variety of wear for different climates.

You sit and ponder for a bit after packing some math texts, some archery ones, and your laptop. What else to pack?

Having decided that you will have your school pack, which has your tablet and some other notes in it, you notice the front door opening. Mom and dad are home.

You think deeply on the implications, as you finish packing away some of your more....questionable books. Better to hang onto those instead of letting mom or Kina find them. She is far too young for that.

Good graces and timing have you walking down the stairs as your mother calls you for dinner. Moving to hug her briefly, you sit down with your family, knowing it may be a while before this happens again, anime like happening in your life or no.

Today she made a lemon chicken stir fry, a recipe she learned recently that she had been anxious to try out. There is some small talk about the family engineering company, Kina's day at school. When asked about yours, you skirt around it. You tell them that you will talk about it after dinner, as you have something to show them.

Soon enough the last of the tea is finished, and you take a deep breath, and start talking. You go into as much detail as you can without sounding too crazy. "In the end, I will be part military, part ambassador." you finish, picking up the disk.

Standing up and motioning to the T.V., you set up the dvd. "The admiral herself handed this to me. She asked me to play it with my family around."

While your father remains neutral, it is clear your mother is worrying already, and your siblings are trying not to miss you already. You feel bad for not being into engineering like dad, or architecture like your brother.

The dvd starts, showing Admiral Lindy bowing. "Thank you, Moriyama family for watching this message. As I am sure that your son, Takato-san has told you, he has been recruited for a long term, far away project. He will be fine tuning and developing his unique talents, as well as finishing college level school work.

"I understand that there may be some issues and qualms about this, but I assure you that everything will be fine. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me with the communication unit I gave to Takato-san. I wish your family well." she finishes with a smile, bowing again as the video finishes.

You look to see the device gone from the table, as is your father.

The rest of the night passes with clamoring from your mother, snuggling from your sister, and a 'go get 'em' smile from your brother before you get to bed.

Looking around the house, you find your father in the dining room. He is sipping black tea as you come sit next to him, pouring yourself a cup. you both sit in silence for a bit, before he finally speaks up.

"You know I am proud of you, Takato. I would rather you follow me or your brother, but there is something to be said of those unafraid to explore where few, if any, others dare to." he says, turning to you, a small smile on his face. "Do our planet, and our family right, and show them the strength we all share. If you return at all, you will have a place here."

You smile, nodding. "Of course father. I thank you for supporting me. I will miss you all dearly. but Lindy-sama did say we could keep fairly regular contact."

After sharing a few more minutes of quiet male bonding, he helps you move your luggage to the cat, your glasses on and goggles around your neck. Seeing your friends, you gather around as a large, white glowing circle appears below you.

You wave to your father before all goes white.

After blinking a few times, you see a metal room, more circles around you as you hear a voice. "Dimensional and Spatial Transfer complete. Cycling locks."

>My idea would be a normal HF Katana, then connect it to the scabbard to form a bow and then form the naginata.
Aye, probably easier.
>You might be to something, still can we handle a two sword style?
I'm thinking something rooted in real-world sword styles that uses differently-sized blades with the shorter one being held in the off-hand. IF we go with it, that is. Niten Ichi-ryū probably isn't the easiest style to master.
>>
>>29823574
Well, we aim to play keep away with the bow to buy time to do a bombardment with the Staff/Spear, so it might not be worth it to invest too much time working on a complicated two sword style.

Figuratively summon, I mean. Really, it's giving laser blade form, size and shape of a dragon and let it roam free

Also, see the pastebin in first post
>>

That we can do... just we can't summon a real living laser dragon, because of limitations.

>>29824013
Thanks for the quest, I really like what you are doing here.

FUUUUUUUUUCK.

Heh, welp.
Thanks for the quest, OP.

Hrmmm.
Or would they count CG?

He is supposed to be purple wind. Will fix later

Sorry could not resist

Let's go the Evil Route, that other Nanoha Quest is already doing it. If we find Precia frozen in some weird ruins and join Jail we will be set to become the next Saint Kaiser.

Then we will have our epic duel against our teacher, the White Devil, over Mahou Gear Luv.
>>
>>29824102
So we got fire, ice, lightning and wind
We gotta find earth user, i think
>>
Anyone archive this yet? I gotta sleep T_T

It was for linking here, I have a legitimate excuse!!
Fine, fine. Have a screencap of the same scene I just made.
> become the next Saint Kaiser.
Hear, hear, a lofty goal indeed.

>>29824162
Sleep, OP, sleep.
>>
>>29824190
Did you archive this, then?

And that scene so sad...

But then I rage because I hated movie 2 for what it did to Chrono, Nanoha and Yuuno.
>>
>>29824209
To Nanoha? But yea, Chrono and Yuuno are almost as shafted as the Splash Star Cures are in the crossover movies.
Archiving it now.
I also kind of dislike how Arc-En-Ciel was handled. It was a lot more colourful and dramatic in the original.
>>
>>29824328
Nanoha felt useless in movie 2, just a set piece so fate could save her and have some /u/ moments (not that I mind it but I like my White Devil more).

Also I agree that the Arc-En-Ciel was not as good as the original.
>>
>>29824357
Yea you don't seem to be the only one. Seeing how the movie is supposed to be an in-universe dramatization of events it stands to reason that Nanoha pulled strings to downplay her own involvement.
>Also I agree that the Arc-En-Ciel was not as good as the original.
Now that I think about it, general explosions as well. They are all a tick /too/ polished almost and lose a certain chaotic beauty. Oh well.
I hope 7Arcs eventually stops milking the MCs names and makes it into something like Gundam.
>>
>>29824517
I hope they do a Force anime someday!
>>
It's archived but due to erroneous colon use two tags became one.

Small chance of that. I think they're just successful enough with it that it doesn't get cancelled....

>Small chance of that. I think they're just successful enough with it that it doesn't get cancelled....

Well, I'm hoping for a drop then. Force is just...really unenjoyable for me. IT doesn't feel properly Nanoha but like a bad FF/Nanoha crossover fic.
>>
>>29824660
While i tepect your opinion, I have to say that I like it!
>>
>>29824636
Welp, but still, at least it is archived. Also I like the other tags and it should be YAMATO damaishi... remember to capitalize it.
>Muv Luv Joke...
>>
>>29826811
http://muvluv.wikia.com/wiki/YAMATO_DAMASHII
By the way, do you WANT things to go full grimdark? Muv-Luv is so goddamned bleak that even including references to it increases the net bleakness of a thread.
>>
>>29827381
..... sorry, I just wanted to make a joke, and hey the grim darkness of Muv Luv allows human nature to shine.

Plus this is Nanoha, if anything it will go full grimbright.
>>
>>29827381
>>29827466
Nanoha is Grimbright/Nobledark.
>>
What's OP pic from? The staffs look Nanoha-esque, but I thought Nanoiha didn't have dudes that did stuff.
>>
>>29827977
Those are the Mooks that were in A's, the TSAB Marines that usually did stuff with Chrono.
>>
>>29827977
Space Force infantry. They're trying to capture a mad scientist.
Dudes in Nanoha are usually 1) Highly specialized 2) More cerebral than.directly aggressive.
See Jail, Vice, Chrono, etc.
Let's see someone I don't approve of needs to be silenced.
If I send a Nanohaverse girl to do it she'll blow up.the area or at least try.
A dude will.use psychological manipulation, fight proxy battles, play everyone against each other and be and long-range weaponry fired from cover.
The Nanoha series is all about the flashy approach.
>>
>>29828242
Correct. Actuall that is Inspector/Captain Chrono and a a squad of Enforcers.
>>
>>29826811
True that.
>>29824660
Kehe, the issue probably lies in the fact that they forced it to take place on Mid-Childa, at least in part.
>>
>>29828352
True that, maybe that is why I kinda like Force , it has some good male characters, specially Hades, I have to say that I like his style.

The new Chapter is giving me ideas...

Can we go full binding?
>>
>>29833040
You mean just using Binding magic, like Yuuno?
>>
>>29834782
Binding magic applied by pros is impossible to escape.
>>
>>29834872
>>29834872
True that, I do remember both Yuuno and Chrono being good at that, but most of the guys here were probably aiming for a more Belkan Ranged Build.

They want their lightning Katanas, their thundah arrows and their laser dragon summoning staffs.
