Previously:
Asher broke open a path into the glacier with his budding mastery over ice, exerting enough control against whatever strange influence lie within to bend it to his will. The other group forces their way in, while he stays outside, allowing them to go forward to stir whatever hornet's nest the place is.
After some idle chatter, Asher's paralyzed by a high shriek originating from within.

After dealing with the threat, he collects a small prize from the monster and assists Emilia with a fatal wound. The woman literally pulls herself together. Yet, it's when they rendezvous with Asher's old companions that he finds that Alder, a vein like Emilia, has died from a wound he'd been suppressing upon falling to sleep.
This frightens the woman, yet she keeps it to herself.
Asher relays the message he'd been told to give this group, yet finds that he's unwelcome after they begin to suspect where his loyalties may lie.

After telling the Amazon, a woman that assisted in the earlier conflict to join, he and his party quickly return to their base.

Emilia cradles her side at her seat, Hunter steals glances at her wound now and then, averting his eyes otherwise.
You lean back a bit in your own chair, serving yourself water with your magic, letting it flow through the air and straight into your mouth. It's good practice at the very least, making little shapes, expressing finer control even it it is still a bit shaky.

Your back pocket crunches as you shift in your seat, the feeling of cold expressing itself against your left ass-cheek. That tear you pocketed earlier still seems to have the ability to freeze things.
It's odd though, when you touched it the first time, you didn't feel that it was cold, kind of like the ice from the grocery. Crazy weird.

"H-hey Asher, d-do you think Friend could help me? I-I don't want to d-die, " the woman's hand trembles around her mug of coffee, sipping it carefully as beads of cold sweat form upon her paling face, the mud-brown liquid seeping out of the wounds in her mouth, causing her a second round of cringing.

"This is all I can do to help you. Don't look to me for reassurance, I know as little as you.

If you want to live then fight for it yourself. Ask Friend, do whatever you need to do to survive. If you don't know how then find out."
>>
You stare at Emilia for a moment, more of a dismissing glance before you pass a hand over the right side of your face to push back your shaggy hair,"You'll be fine, you're not Alder. What did I tell you before?"

Emilia swallows, a frown forming upon her face accentuated be the creases that've been added with the cheshire cuts across her mouth,"Y-you said that o-only I can help myself." She nods slowly as if trying to reassure herself,"Only I can help myself, and that I need to be strong."
You swallow another glob of water placed in your mouth courtesy of your power before pointing a finger at her,"That's right, so just remember that, alright? And ask friend, he's a vein too. He'll know more about what you can do."
She shudders out a sigh, trying to relax herself a bit. She's lost concern for the look of her cut mouth, her right hand's just about glued to her side at this point to reassure that her flesh won't slide out.

You shiver yourself, the thought of that is absolutely disgusting.

Reaching into your back pocket, you're treated with a biting cold as you fish amongst the forming ice crystals for the one little bead that stands out.
Drawing the little prize out, you look it over.

It's kind of dusky, white and opaque like frosted glass, you can't see through it. The air around it condenses moisture into a frigid air that pours off if it while the object itself isn't quite cold.
This little object alone defies all reason, like all this other magic.

You experimentally drop it in your most recent bottle of water, the liquid freezing as the thing makes contact, crystal veins of ice extend throughout the rest of the bottle, slowly chilling the rest of the contents into a solid form.
What's more, it seems far more efficient than when you tried to freeze the water.
>>
Amazing.

Exerting your own magic to thaw the ice you retrieve the the thing under Hunter's Curious gaze.
"So, you got that from that.. uhh, ghost? That's kind of cool." His eyes express a teenage interest in playing with the unusual little artifact, he might like it.

Also, We don't have to turn everyone into social darwinists just because we're a pragmatic dick. It's not good to have everyone around us just as much of a dick as us. We don't gain anything. Better to act like a concerned friend. If she thinks only she can help herself she will be less willing to help us.
>>
>>29738407
We also don't need to let a child touch a mysterious magical artifact that we know nothing about.
>>
>>29738435
He's like a year younger than us. It's just a show of friendship. We can't alienate everyone as a Nerve. We joined this group to gain power and survive, right? Telling people they can help themselves is counterproductive.

IT doesn't matter what is true. We're a pragmatic asshole. We lie when it suits us. We don't tell the truth just because it is the truth. Not that it is true, anyway. Those who cooperate survive longer.
>>
To clarify, Emilia's wound from the ghost was basically a chunk of her abdomen ripped straight out of her body. Everything to the right of her navel was gone.
You're not a healer, and only Veins and Bones can normally do anything about their wounds.
>>
>>29738351
"It's interesting, I'm wondering if I can do more with it than just this.

You can take a look at it, but give it back."

Flick it over to him, but make sure to retrieve it. He probably won't be able to do anything with it once he freezes it in a bottle of water or something.

>[] Report to Friend.
>>
>>29738510
>>29738491
I mean, it's definitely true that you can help yourself, but you're not the only one who can help yourself. Having her independent is not good. It's better for her and others to rely on us. We need to start being a better leader. Dogma boring.
>>29738558
Oh, in that case we should ask the followers if any of them know how to heal. Worst case we can freeze her (lol) and revive her in 100 years when we are an immortal ice being.
>>

>>29738373
Pretty much this.
>>
>>29738606
Come on, man. We're a dick but not stupid. Let's make friends with the kid.
>>
You look at the kid, and then back to the little gem. With a shrug you kind of twist your mouth to the side," It's interesting, wondering if I can do anything else with it."
He kind of stares at the thing, and reaches out,"Can I see it?"

You contemplate it for a moment, somewhat keen on keeping this sort of thing to yourself. It's fascinating, like an artifact of mythology created before your very eyes. A frozen wraith's tear?
You smirk at that, it's interesting, really interesting.
"Sure, you can take a look," You toss it over to Hunter as you stand up, kicking your seat out.
"I want it back though, let's go see Friend, that wolf guy said he'd be in the auditorium, right?

The three of you walk through the halls. You take stock of the place once more. New-age post-modern look. Definitely a new building. This is the college they were constructing in the area for future students to go to after the riots all but burned the last one down.

They went all out with this place. If memory serves correctly, yesterday was to be an opening party for this place.
What's odd about these halls and their sleekness now is that all the damage you'd seen just the night before has vanished, likely the result of magic or a really good maid. You'd guess at the former, though what if it's both? A magical maid, hell, what's the world coming to.

There's no guard to the auditorium this time, Within, you find that the gallery of red seats bear none of the damages they should've incurred last night.
Fire, burning, lightning and whatever else. it was a light-show in here but it looks good as new. Definitely something up.

At the stage, Friend is examining the place, his eyes falling over the empty gallery, taking stock of each and every single little detail.
"Hey Friend, we're back." You give him a wave, joining him up on stage.
>>
He smiles, and it's kind of warming, nice to see him again actually. You're safe here at least.
"We told some people about this place as you'd asked. We ran into some trouble."
A nod from him, understanding and privy to what you're about to say,"Indeed, I can see it in you all. "He clasps his hands together, looking a little sentimental,"It is good to see that you have all returned."
He gestures to Emilia, with one hand,"You bear an injury, it weighs on your soul. Let me see."

Friend's exchanges seem mystical in nature, as though he were just like some guru that had an idea of everything going on around him. Emilia reveals her wound to him, her veins pulsating gunmetal grey with her every heartbeat. He lays a hand upon it, and his own sapphire blue courses around him, putting her at ease.
"The hurt is bad, but it is good that the soul courses through the flesh." He looks up to her, his glimmering white teeth flashing up at her,"You will require stitches. You are strong, and you will survive."
Friend looks to you, almost as though he knows something. It throws you off balance a bit, it's like the guy sees right through you.

"I also hear that you have dispersed the dead woman. Eshe had been interested in dealing with that one. Seems that you were enough however."
Friend slowly blinks, rising up with grace from Emilia, he looks between you and Hunter.
"Did she frighten you? How was it?"

[X] Tell the whole story, mention the gem.

Mention the other people involved, how we saw the place earlier but decided not to meddle, bring up the Amazon and that she was surprisingly capable.

Bring up the gem, ask if he knows anything more about it. And get it back from Hunter so we can experiment more with it, maybe try holding it in place and sending a line of water through it.
>>
"It was pretty unreal. Just a scream and then that thing coming out."You sigh, and retell the whole thing, mentioning the Amazon and how it paralyzed everyone except for Emilia and the Amazon you encountered from another group.

You tell him exactly how you killed it, and how your nerves felt like a hot iron once the deed had been done.
Hunter throws in some of his own details about how he didn't think he could fight the think until the lady jumped in on it, and by then he would've only gotten in the way.
Emilia describes the way it cleaved into her body, like a sickle of cold despair.
"I-I, still kind of feel it now. Like death is pulling at me, but I-I'm fighting back." She nods with a more clear affirmation.
Friend nods,"Corruption, I will teach you to clear it during your treatment," He places a hand upon her shoulder,"Do not worry."

You frown, and cross your arms as you recall the state of the place from yesterday,"I found that place before heading this way last night. I left it alone though, it looked dangerous."

Friend sighs, closing his eyes,"So you did? I wish you had helped her then. Those that had passed through the area must have missed her, or worse, ignored her with thinking that she could free herself. A woman of shining eyes has died, this is a sadness. She had not even the chance to make her choice."

>[] "Wait, I could've saved her?"

"It's a shame, if I had known more or if she had strength enough to free herself, she could have been interesting.

She left this behind, would you mind taking a look at it? A frozen tear."

Show him the gem. Ask if he knows anything about what it could do and so on.
>>
"If she'd ben smarter, she probably would have found a way out," You sigh to yourself placing a hand upon your forehead, expressing some ounce of regret,"Though, I'll try not to miss something like that again."
Friend gives you a solid nod.
Remembering the gem, you gesture to Hunter, who produces it from his own pocket, shaking off the snow accumulation within,"Damn this is cold..."
He passes it to you, and you present it to Friend,She left this behind. It looks like it's freezing stuff a lot like the ice at that place, figured you've seen things like this.

Friend takes the frozen tear in his palm, looking it over and rolling the little bead between his fingers,"It is ordinary water." he says as he looks it over,"It bears an enchantment that makes it freeze whatever water it is touching, while not feeling cold itself. I would be willing to claim that this is frozen at room temperature." He grins at the confusion as it forms upon your faces.
"It is her first and last wish. There may be other properties to it, yet it is not known how long the power will last. The last I've seen of this, an artifact left behind that defy nature, it had no sign of ceasing."

He stares at Hunter for a moment,"Asher, if you would not mind, may I give this to him? There is something I'd like him to try."

>Friend is asking your permission of something... Weird but-

>>
"What exactly are you planning to do, Friend?" You ask with a leery eye upon the stage observed by the empty gallery, Hunter fidgets under the attention of the powerful man before him, yet you meet him eye to eye.
"Hunter is a bone, he may be capable of... Well, for an amusing use of words, eatting this object and gain its power."

Hunter expresses extreme concern, touching his cold pocket in a sense of verification of what Friend just asked,"Wait, you want me to eat it? That thing freezes stuff man, why would you want me to eat that, no way am I eating that."
Friend chuckles, and you express your own concern,"I'll have to agree with him, that doesn't sound like the best idea.
Friend grins with his shining teeth peeking through his ebony lips," An expression." He presents the gem," Bones show their power through the eating of magic. He would eat the magic and gain the power if he does so correctly."

You figure that sounds lot more reasonable and wait.. Bones EAT magic? You place a knuckle to your lip. If they eat magic," If they eat magic, then does that mean-"
"Yes, they may even eat yours." Friend answers, and nods again.
He hands the gem to gunter, whom looks at the thing suspiciously,"I'd like to see you try it."

Hunter looks to you for a go-ahead.

I really doubt we can eat it. We should ask if we could make use of it, but I'm not getting the feeling we can.

But if you want to get rid of it, whatever. I'm outvoted anyways.
>>
>>29740285
>"Is there no practical way for me to make use of its magic to improve my own?"

Friend considers this,"Shining eyes, or nerves, like yourself, may be able to study the magic that such an artifact bears. Though you benefit far less than a bone when it comes to taking power like this...
If you were a summoner though... You may be able to call back the woman."
>>
>>29740409
We have a held skill point, right? Use it on summing powers.
>>
I thought we had a Limit Point that we didn't spend, but it's not on our character sheet. Just making sure we still have it.

Also, a question about leveling up abilities and Oaths. Let's say we have an ability at Novice, we have to spend 2 Limit points to level it up. If we take and Oath that ups our level by 1 to Apprentice does it still cost us 2 Limit points to level up, or would it cost 4 Limit points?

I'd prefer that the cost not change, because if it changes it incentivizes leveling the ability up as high as possible before applying an Oath, and I don't think you should be punished for taking an Oath early.

Also, setting this in stone means you don't have to deal with kinda cheesy Oath-Breaking shennanigans to lower your level in a spell before spending XP on it.
>>
>>29740409
"Summoning Friend? You have never told me of such a field.

What sort of things can be summoned? I'm intrigued, I have always loved tales of monsters, heroes, and legends."
>>
>>29740409
>>"You may be able to call back the woman."
I would like to try this.
Can we use a Limit point and do it right now?
"Well then let's try that! I'll study it and attempt a summoning. After I am successful Hunter may eat it to his stomach's content. Hows that sound to you, brother?"
>>
>>29740409
Okay, I want to spend that point into Summoning, ask Friend about summoning, and use this crystal, maybe make a necklace out of it if we need to keep it to summon her later.

If we're summoning we should probably apply a small blood sacrifice, hopefully Friend tells us about that bit.

And speaking of summoning, I liked the suggestion for an Oath of Responsibility for our Summoning, where we have to pay attention to the needs and proper care of any of our Summons.

First, it gets us good rep with our summons, which is very useful and we'll generally want to do that anyways, second, it upgrade summoning.
>>
>>29740427
No change in cost. Though an Oath can't raise you to the last grade, Divine
>>
>>29740547
Excellent. We should probably grab ourself some Oaths soon.

I've liked the Oath of Selfishness and Oath of Responsibility so far. And maybe one of prayer.

A sufficient oath, when taken allows you to artificially increase your grade, improving your power and reducing the accrued BURN that limits your use.

The oath must be restrictive enough that it matters. This is more-so to the character or situations that arise.

An oath could be a promise for just about anything so long as the conditions are approved as worthy.

Breaking an oath will denote a loss of magic = to the benefit it provided until a restitution is made.

>Purchasing Novice Summoning
>>
"Summoning? You haven't mentioned this before." You gesture for Hunter to return the thing, and he hands it back over to you. parting all too willingly.

Friend nods,"I have not, it is a magic that can prove as mighty as it is dangerous. If you believe yourself strong however, I will teach you what I know."

You grin at the prospect. A dangerous power? You won't let yourself be consumed by it, you're not like the others after all. You were chosen, you stayed calm under fire, you killed the wraith. This is yours.
"When do we begin," You say with barely constrained excitement.

Friend looks to Emilia, who's still not quite looking too good, her body shivering at random intervals, the power holding her flesh together glimmering at her roughly hewn seam. "After we fix her, I must ask you to wait for now Asher."

"I do not like waiting," you cross your arms and stare, the gem rolling between your fingers.
Friend's posture changes, and his sapphire veins take on the slightest illumination, his voice slips through his lips as a whisper yet with a supernatural command"I have said that you must wait. Do not make me repeat myself."

He pulls Emilia gently by her shoulder, taking her away,"Come."

As they walk away, you and Hunter stand, realizing that you're to be idle.
"What do you want us to do?"

"For now, I do not care."

You hold your breath for a few moments watching the backs of Friend and Emilia disappear into their little hidey-hole back-stage. You start after them.
"Ah, hey man, what are you doing?" Hunter gets a delayed start, following you.
You do not glance back,"I want to see this. I don't want there to be secrets. Might help you out if you see too. Come on."

Hunter catches up, walking beside you," Hey, so you know, I didn't really want that thing, I'm glad you took it."
"It's fine. If I don't need it, and you want it then, it's yours."
"Hey I.." Hunter scratches his head, a bit taken aback,"Well, alright."

The healing ritual isn't much like anything you'd thought it'd be. Emilia is stripped down to just her underwear and laid down upon the floor. Friend takes a needle with thread and sews it through with a clearly supernatural grace, the knot tying itself at the end of the thread.

A woman kneads at Emilia's shoulders, the older one that had evaluated you before, the one that watched you for lies.
"You must breath in the pure and breath out the corruption. Let it move through you."

Emilia's veins pulsate in a steady rhythm, the gun-grey slowly moving into something closer to a silver-white as the procedure carries on.
Friend runs the needle through her flesh, no anesthesia, and not even a flinch from her as she continues her trance-like respiration.

As the needle knits her flesh, it seals it together tightly, seamlessly even.

You can't quite tell how much time passes in this operation, yet it has been simple enough in witnessing.
Without magic, it would've been a woman getting a patient to stay calm while a man stitched her wound.
But this? She's rising up afterwards, rubbing her eyes out of a nearly dream-like state. The woman behind her gently touches your shoulder,"Mind you are still hurt. Not in soul, but in body. You must perform the breathing into your sleep and your spirit will do the rest."
>>
Emilia touches the spot, passing her fingers over the knit flesh. She nods wordlessly. The pulse of her power works invisibly within her body.

You wonder how it'd look inside... Still destroyed? Frozen and broken? You frown. But it doesn't matter. Emilia throws her arms around Friend and the woman, full of glee, the color returning to her features, the horrible sweat broken. She looks like a new woman, yet she still bears that cheshire cut loosely held by her power.

It's kind of heartwarming.

Almost.

Friend towels off his hands, and places the needle back into a kit.
"That was pretty incredible." You say, keeping your voice down, looking on at Emilia with some envy. If it was you, would you even be able to come back from that?
Friend rises, passing himself over to you,"It was the least we could do for one of our own, I am sorry that I had been so strict with you. she had been very patient in her suffering. She did not deserve to bear it any longer."

You nod, feeling it rise in you, the desire to ask if it's your time now, yet what you felt from him earlier still bothers you somewhat, prohibiting you from speaking up.
A hand upon your shoulder snaps you out of your onset of meekness.
"Now it is time for you to learn."

The sun sets in the distance, turning the aurora hues into many more reds, oranges, yellows, and all those other shifting colors between. The eastern sky taking on the nightly hues along with brilliant streaks of green and daring blues. These colors are kind of like the glow of your own magic now that you think about it. Huh.

A man stands along-side friend facing you in the courtyard of the College grounds.
"It is best to learn summoning outside first." Friend says with his usual smile as he claps the ither man upon the back."This is Faraji. His eyes shine like yours. Another Nerve."

You droop your jaw just a little in confusion,"Umm, friend? You keep saying shining eyes but.. Do my eyes really..." You trail off on that note as Friend nods to answer.
"Yes, Faraji, could you?"

The man bows his head, and slowly raises it along with his eyelids like a grand display.
It's then that you really see it. His pupils glimmer with an orange-red light, like the setting sun as fire slowly forms from the air like a living entity. It's terrifying and beautiful at once. The glow ceases and the flames vanish as quickly as they came.

"I will teach you. Veins may teach, yet they are better at teachning their own. Friend, would you leave us?"
Huh, so even the other followers call him Friend. You noticed that before but, you just now realized how consistent it's been.
Weird.

"Certainly, and you are right. Faraji, please treat Asher will."
The man of fire smiles at that, his thick lips grinning wider than his teeth," Oh yes, I will."

Faraji begins giving you preliminary instruction at summoning, telling you about how those that have died or become stories may be called from the other world that Susej as spoken of.

He demonstrates with his own summon that manifests as a woman of flame, her core blackening into something akin of charcoal, flames pouring from her mouth and hair. She bears an ephemeral glow of a sheer red, and seems slightly transparent, as though she shouldn't quite be there.
If you had to guess, she would be the polar opposite of the wraith you fought.

His sun-orange glow flares up brightly before settling down,"To summon, you need only call. Sacrifice may make them stronger or more respect your wishes.
The sacrifice must be agreed upon by both you- and the one you call upon. and then form them of something through a medium."

The wendigo is part of the traditional belief systems of various Algonquian-speaking tribes in the northern United States and Canada, most notably the Ojibwe and Saulteaux, the Cree, the Naskapi, and the Innu people. Although descriptions varied somewhat, common to all these cultures was the conception of wendigos as malevolent, cannibalistic, supernatural beings (manitous) of great spiritual power. They were strongly associated with the winter, the north, and coldness, as well as with famine and starvation.
At the same time, wendigos were embodiments of gluttony, greed, and excess: never satisfied after killing and consuming one person, they were constantly searching for new victims. In some traditions, humans who became overpowered by greed could turn into wendigos; the wendigo myth thus served as a method of encouraging cooperation and moderation.
Among the Ojibwe, Eastern Cree, Westmain Swampy Cree, Naskapi, and Innu, wendigos were said to be giants, many times larger than human beings (a characteristic absent from the wendigo myth in the other Algonquian cultures). Whenever a wendigo ate another person, it would grow in proportion to the meal it had just eaten, so that it could never be full. Therefore, wendigos were portrayed as simultaneously gluttonous and emaciated from starvation.

Yep. It's wendigo time.

We don't even have any meat for the Wendigo, we have nothing of much interest to it for negotiations, and we already have an item that's connected to the wraith.

Do not make our first summon a Wendigo, don't jump in the deep end of the pool and expect things to go well.

>>29742791
They're sentient beings, being able to communicate properly is useful, and we'll need to negotiate and I really don't want to negotiate with a Wendigo while we don't know our abilities and have little to offer the endless pit of hunger.

Not particularly. They seem difficult to negotiate with compared to a lit of other things. And if we take an Oath of Responsibility we'd have to feed them, which is an endless task.
>>
You feel the residual emotions radiating from the frozen tear and sigh as you look into yourself. feeling for that well of power locked away in the power of your mind.

This is a first for you. Magic beyond more control or state-change. This is no longer mere telekinesis or whatever-have you.

Following Faraji's example and instruction, you breath deep, tapping into the form as you weave your medium out of the moisture in the air, your nerves humming with energy, with power, with magic.

Faraji watches you carefully, giving you instruction on how you must feel the form, the essence of what it is you intend to summon.
The burning woman at his side helps you along as well, whispering ominous words through her flame,"The woman writhes against your hold. Be gentle for she is scared."

It... actually kind of unnerves you that the creature called from thin air has license to speak. As you draw out the woman through the threshold you can feel her form rippling, wild, kicking and screaming like something outright possessed.

The frigid air finally comes together in the form of a womanly upper body, ephemeral sleeves hiding away her hands, no actual legs to speak of.
>>
She doesn't look anything like when you encountered her as a wraith.
Her face is a mask of ice, serene and cool with a distinct lack of expression, her body wears something of a shirt or an apron of frigid water, rippling like a mirror, and her hair affixed into a ponytail by a small orb of ice, the vapors falling down her back.
An otherworldly glow completing the image.
"I-I'm alive? How... I felt like... I was slipping away..." She slowly looks down to her hands, icy claws hidden in her snowy sleeves. "I- what....?" You can feel her panic begin to bloom upon the air, the burn of your nerves still fairly slight at this point.

"Careful," The Burning woman warns," She is confused, pulled too soon from the cycle of lives."

Faraji stares on,"Cut the connection or state your contract, child. Before she finds reason to turn."

>[] "I could have saved you, I'm sorry. I need your help."

That's a bad Oath. Keeping good relationships with the creatures is enough to worry about.

We can talk about the Oaths though.
Oath of Cannibalism might be fun and beneficial. We could definitely specialize in Wendigo related magicks.
Oath of Prayer is interesting.
Oath of Silence: Nah. Talking is too valuable.
Oath of Sacrifice: Must sacrifice someone each full moon in a meticulous ritual
Oath of Chastity: I'm strongly for this. We don't really lose anything important.
>>
>>29743403
None of those oaths sound particularly good. I might pick Prayer if we can pick who we pray to.

>>
>>29743403
It's something we already want to do to maintain good relations and it'll prove we are dealing in good faith which means we'll be trusted more by them.

Cannibalism is a bad habit to pick up for the time being, and somewhat distasteful.
>>
>>29743504
I don't like the idea of being more obligated to our summons then we already are.
Oath of Flagellation (must self-injure)
Oath of Purity (must remain very clean): meh
Oath of Decay (basically Nurgle-level hygeine): meh, negative CHA effects
Oath of Abstinence (eat little food)

Cannibalism isn't distasteful if nobody knows about it.

Let's come up with ideas.

This'll be a tough decision to agree on.
>>
Oath of Abstinence: No sex
There you go. Done with that.
>>
>>29743609
Yea definitely for this. We can take multiple too, but if it's just one, this one.
>>
>>29743574
There'll already be consequences if we're an asshole towards our summons.

Setting something up that proves us a reliable and worthwhile master is in our interests, and it's not really all that hard to treat our summons with respect and take care of them, all things we should do anyways in order to further good relations.

It's less being obligated to do more, and more getting stuff out of something we should do anyway.

I'd rather not do Flagellation, it sounds painful and we don't heal well.

And hiding Cannibalism from everyone around us seems annoying, at least wait until we have a stable living situation before we go for it.

>>29743609
That's silly. I can't see Asher taking it, sex is fun, and a useful tool for emotional bonding.
>>

Your nerves begin to flare up in gradual pain from the summoning, spiking further as she begins to panic frost creeping from her form, the ice upon her face beginning to creak to reveal the wailing maw from before.
Shit! she's regressing?!

"You died-" You say, beginning as the frost begins to creep towards you.
The burning woman immediately stands before you, seeming to just appear out of nowhere. Her warm flames warding off the cold,"Make haste."
Yeah, I know.
"I died?!" The thing begins to weep, further fragments forming upon its face where its eyes had been."
"You died, and I'm sorry! But I need your help!" You shout over her slowly escalating wailing, clutching at your arms as the burn begins to take its toll at her rampant power usage.
"Why are you sorry?! What did you do to me!? Why, why do I look like this?! I was working, I was working at my store!" She bemoans, further cracks tearing through her icy mask.

"I need your help!" You yell out again the wind beginning to pick up into a frigid bite, whirling about with the excess use of YOUR power. You feel the burn really start to set it, making you sweat a little bit, a headache aching in the back of your skull.

"My help? It seems to calm down just a little, wiping at its non-existent eyes. "My help? You need my help? How can I help ANYONE like this?"

>This is the Contract Phase tread carefully.
>[] "By serving me, you'll be doing good."
>[] "You'll help me by saving others that need to be saved!"

>[] (Other)
>>
>>29743711
I disagree about your latter statement. There are fun things other than sex, like summoning wendigos to destroy your enemies. Asher will be satisfied with other recreational activities like this. Sex is also not necessary for emotional bonding. Though it can help, I don't think it is vital.
>>29743711
What exactly would Oath of Responsibility entail? I don't think it is a good idea.
The wounds don't have to be deep.
If we take Cannibalism it'll be later when we are better at killing things.

This gives us the most flexibility and control.
>>

Oath of Selfishness, we must always act in our own interests and have some reason why we stand to gain to help someone.

Oath of Responsibility, we must care for our Summons' needs such as food, lodging, and so on. Treat the sentient ones with respect and the beasts with care.
>>
>>29744129
That's why I said I don't want it. It's just that the Cleanliness one disadvantages us more often. It's too easy to break. I'd sacrifice sex for wizard powers. We don't lose much. We gain at least one level in Ice or Summoning.

You raise your hand to the woeful spirit, and stand at the side of the burning woman as she murmurs many words within her flames.
"I will command you, and tell you how you can help me! You understand that?!"

She shivers despite her body's composition and brings her white sleeves across her body, hugging herself and rocking gently.
"S-so I just need to listen to you? I just need to listen and I can help people?"
"You can help me," You say with a sigh of relief, the burn going down as she calms,"If that's good enough."

She seems to consider the proposition for a moment,"So, if I listen to you.. I can still help people, even though I'm dead?"

Slowly, the cracks in her frozen mask heal over, returning her to that previous stable state, only this time with a smile carved into what appears to be a mouth. Wide and long like a cheshire cat's... it's kind of odd that she'd express that.
"Yes, I'll listen to you then. I'll do whatever I can to help." She seems almost lucid now.
The Burning woman stares down at you, with her imposing visage still pouring off endless flames into the ether," Now is the time to seal your destinies."
Faraji pats you on the back,"Good job," He points to the Banshee,"Ask her name or give her one. She asks for no blood, task, or time. She is a good one to call. upon."

Thinking that most oaths qualify for 1 increase. It'd elp when it comes to the penalty of turning the modifier into a negative rather than just removing it.

You don't necessarily need to create oaths however.
You make also think of some incantations for spells. Fun stuff. I'll let it come up more when Asher learns about it.

Also, you guys just got a pretty powerful ally.

Oath of Selfishness just doesn't make sense. It is not a meaningful limitation because you can justify any altruistic action by saying "I'm helping them so they can help me later. It is in my benefit."
Oath of Responsibility is also similarly hazy. It's not a clear cut as "Don't Lie" but it also has other problems.

Most would have that issue, an Oath of Truth does not mean the truth can't be misleading. I imagine that it might be based on what the person feels it is, for example, Asher is an asshole so he will legimately believe everything he does is in his self interest, an average Joe will not.

Well. you could do that. I had in mind for an incantation to be anything.
Hell, they can even be pretty artless and crude.

>Boiling the wraith.
>"Toil, boil and trouble, burn the wailing bitch!"

For summoning Fara I'd suggest something like "Darling, come out and play." Before telling her to begin the slaughter.

For wolves "Howl! Call the pack, the hunt is on."

"Odin's wrath and winter's bite, an icy spear through your heart tonight."

"Bubble and boil, scald and burn, you idiots never learn."

"Water shifts and water flows, drown already you fuck."

"An icy prison, winter's kiss, you will not be missed."
